Eye of the Storm 9
Warnings: nonconsensual sex (series), teasing, some fingering
This is dark!Thor and explicit. Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Summary: You are a new servant at the palace of Asgard but the job isn’t so easy as you thought.
Note: Um, some stuff happens.
(I can’t blame @lokislastlove but I will anyway)
Thank you. Love you guys!
As always, if you can, please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3
Tumblr media
That night was as sleepless as many since your arrival at the palace. You mourned your old life not just for its simplicity but for the restful nights, even if they hadn’t been very long then either.
In the morning, the routine you’d formed was the only thing that kept you from stewing in anxiety and self-pity. You just couldn’t help but sink yourself further into the mud.
You took the tray from the kitchen and crept your way up the winding staircases to the upper floors. A sense of dread filled you, a cursed sense of deja vu pervaded your mind.
You had to stop to gather yourself outside the solarium, having unintentionally taken a turn that would see you past the king’s chambers. Loki’s were just a single corridor away. Before, they’d felt like a haven but now it was like entering another snare. The snake’s tooth was just as sharp as the lion’s fang.
You took a breath and knocked with your elbow. No answer came and you kicked instead. Still, the silence remained.
Surely you weren’t to carry the tray all the way back to the kitchen, you knew Loki was within. So you balanced the tray against your hip and opened the door as it teetered precariously. You entered and closed the door with your bottom, jostling the lid just a little. The prince, presumably, was still abed.
You went to the balcony and set the tray in its usual place on the round table. You turned back and swept through to the receiving chamber. You listened for any stirs from the bedroom. It would be better to wait.
The prince no doubt recalled the previous night as well as you, though he’d not have an ounce of guilt for it. In fact, you suspected he would be quite indignant on your errant tongue. His curt dismissal, still crisp in your head, assured you of that.
You didn’t wait long as you were called to attendance. Loki’s voice carried through the open door and you froze in place, only then realising how you’d been pacing around the chaise. You went to the doorway and hovered just upon the threshold of the bedchamber.
Loki sat up as you did, his chest bare and pale as the sunlight peered in through the tall windows. His black hair was askew, unlike its usual sleek perfection, and his green eyes were slitted with the remnants of his slumber.
“Ah, timely as always,” He commented as he turned his legs over the side of the bed, the blankets pulling away from him as he did. He was naked and either unaware of it or unaffected by it. “Come here.”
He stretched his arms above him and you reluctantly obeyed. You approached nervously, your eyes on his profile as you prayed they didn’t slip lower. He reached to you as you neared and grabbed your wrist. You let out a yelp as he pulled you close and fell back on the bed with you atop him. Your eyes were wide and fearful as you stared down at him.
He smiled and chuckled, his gazed flicked down and back to your face.
“Forgive me, I did not realise--” He said. “I do forget myself.” He purred, your lips only an inch from his. “Would you be so kind as to fetch me some water?” He sat up and shoved you off of him. “I am terribly thirsty.”
You blinked and bit down on your cheek as you turned to grab the ewer of water on the side table against the far wall. You poured a cup and returned to him. He took it and drained it easily before he stood, handing it back as he sidled past you.
"If you would draw me a bath," He said as he rounded the bed and went to the window.
"Your highness," You uttered stiffly.
You left him, thankful to be away from him, and neared the pump at the head of the ebony tub. You cranked it and watched the water splash down.
You were more angry at yourself than Loki. You knew not to trust him and perhaps you hadn't but you had thought him different than Thor. Sure, he was deceptive, arrogant, and entirely self-serving, but you hadn't thought him to be... like that.
He entered and you stopped the faucet. The water had risen rather high. You stepped out from behind the tub and stared at the marble floor as you walked along the wall to the other side. Loki went to the tub and paused at its edge.
"You might set out my attire for the day. I've a council meeting shortly." He said. "If only I were king and could hold my own pleasure above the needs of the realm."
"Yes, your highness," You were quick in your flight, taking his dismissal before he could rescind.
Even so, you were unnerved that he let you go so easily. As you were learning, Loki was patient and with time, his plots grew ever more sinister.
You went to his wardrobe and chose one of his many green tunics, this one trimmed in silver, and a pair of matching trousers. His heavy emerald jacket was hung at the read from a hook on the wall and you laid it out next to the rest of his outfit. You rubbed your hands together as you listened to the gentle ripples of water and his movement from the next room. No doubt leaving would only make whatever torment he had planned worse. Oh how much like his brother he truly was.
When he emerged, covered from the waist down with a towel, you stood by the door. He approached the bed and looked over your selection with a haughty grin. He let the towel fall slack and bent to dry himself. You looked away and focused on the engraving of a snake hung over the desk.
“Tell me,” He said and you kept your eyes above his shoulders as you glanced at him. “Did my brother have you dress him? Well, of course that’s rhetorical. He must have.”
You pursed your lips and said nothing. The silence was your begrudging answer.
“Don’t worry, dear, I can dress myself,” He took his undershorts and stepped into them. “I will however have you accompany me to the day’s council. The king has insisted upon it though I’d rather he put more effort into his marriage. Figures he would heed his duty when another lays upon his shoulders.”
You found it hard to do more than taste the bile of anger rising on your tongue. You cleared your throat and recited a tame “your highness.”
He smiled to himself and continued to dress. Deliberate and slow, it felt like an eternity before he was clothed. He brushed his hair and glanced in his mirror. He turned his head to admire his sharp features and stood straight. He went to his desk and seized the heavy ledger and a bundle of papers. He approached and thrust them into your arms.
“Very well, let us be off,” He declared. “But I do expect you to wipe that trite look off your face in the presence of the council. I will not shy away from doing it for you should you continue to wear it.”
You inhaled and eased the tension from your jaw as you bowed your head. He stepped past you and strutted into the receiving room.
“Do not tarry,” He called to you. “Unless you do long for my remonstrance.”
🌩️
You did not miss the surprise that raised Loki’s brow as you arrived at the council chamber. Thor was the first there and sat at the head of the long table. Before him, he had his own stack of papers and barely even acknowledged his brother’s presence as he perused them.
The other lords came one at a time. You’d only attended one other session and yet something felt amiss. The way the men and single lady sat wordlessly and eyes flitted here and there, never quite meeting as something remained unsaid. You glanced at Loki for any hint of what it might be and to your surprise he seemed just as perplexed.
Thor brought the meeting to order as he sat up and slapped the table. He took a breath and could barely withhold his questionable pleasure. You peeked at Loki again and then back at the king. He had effectively ignored your presence and you felt as if you should be thankful and yet it only injected you with a sense of foreboding.
“As some of you are already aware, today is more of a formality than anything. I do have a new wife awaiting my attentions and I do hate to disappoint her so early in our union.” Thor announced. “So let us get to the matter at hand.” He paused and raised a hand to Loki who shuffled a paper before him. “Brother, your paltry little gripes can wait until our next. I do not care for the tax on grains.”
Loki’s lip twitched and he merely swallowed his protest. He looked to Sif and then Hogun. They both avoided his gaze and he poked his tongue against his top lip as he thought. Something was indeed going on.
“We will be holding a vote today on the matter of at last reinstating the legacy act.” Thor explained. “Brother, I have always admired your knowledge of our legislation. Surely you are familiar with the act.”
Lines formed around Loki’s lips and across his forehead. His green eyes burned fiercely as he glared at his brother.
“I am aware of it. I am more than. I recall our father disbanded it upon our mother’s insistence and it was upon good reason that he did.” Loki replied. “The kingdom does not need a civil war.”
“Nor does it need an empty throne,” Thor countered smoothly. “My wife, should the fates bless us, is expected to provide me the heirs necessary to continue our lineage but we both know how fickle fate can prove. I should hate to leave my kingdom without a prince, or should we have one, a princess.”
“Calla is young, she has many siblings as did her mother and father,” Loki insisted. “You hardly need insurance upon our bloodline.”
“Ah, but we cannot rely on assumptions or hopes. Didn’t you always warn me of such optimism? Ever the cynic, you are, brother,” Thor chided, “I finally take your advice and you look as if you’ve swallowed your own tongue.”
Loki’s fingers tapped on the stone table and he shrugged. “Very well, put it to a vote then brother. Certainly I am not the only who sees through your foolishness.”
“Before we go forward, are all parties familiar with the contents of the legacy act?” Thor asked. All nodded, Loki with some reluctance as he looked around. “Very well, let us vote. All those in favour,” All but the prince said aye, “And against, “Nay.” Loki shook his head, his defeat already obvious.
Thor nodded and sat back in victory. Swift, neat, easy. You knew as Loki did, as he stared down each member of the council, that they had conspired without him. The prince realised all too late that his brother was just as tricky as he was. You hadn’t any idea what had been done but as the king’s eyes settled on you and he winked, you knew it could not be good.
“Maid,” Loki beckoned to you. “I do favour a walk in the woods. If you would pack my lunch in a basket and await me in my chambers, I shall not be much longer with the matters of council.”
“Your highness,” You dipped your head.
“Quickly,” He bid under his breath and waved you away.
You obeyed, eager to be away as much as he wanted you away. His urgency to have you gone was an ill omen. It confirmed that whatever trouble twinkled in Thor’s eyes would not be good for either you or the prince.
🌩️
You walked along just a step behind Loki as he led you through the trees, stopping to watch a passing bird or look closer at some leaf or petal. He had been quiet since his return from council. He’d not said a word as he tossed a blanket from the chest into the basket you’d packed with cheese, bread, and wine, and a book as well. You carried the heavy load along the narrow trails, the air warm as it was trapped by the thick trunks around you.
You came upon a clearing and he paced around its parameter. He bid you to lay down the blanket and as you did, he sat upon it, one leg bent and the other straight. He rested his elbow on the bent one and hummed in thought. You pulled out his lunch but he didn’t seem very interested in the food.
“Sit,” He said as he gestured beside him. You sat on your knees and stared at the weave of the blanket. “Are you going to ask or shall I take the initiative?”
You peeked over at him and he sighed. You shrugged and he pushed back a strand of his dark hair.
“The legacy act was created to ensure that the kingdom was not left without heir.” Loki rubbed his chin as he spoke. “Be it legitimate or otherwise.” The words seemed sour on his tongue as he forced them out. “It legalizes the keeping of concubines by the monarch so that he may assure himself a continued bloodline.” Loki shook his head. “I am certain you can guess why my brother did take an interest in reviving the antiquated and ridiculous bill.”
Your mouth fell open as it was not difficult to surmise. Even an uneducated servant like yourself could solve such a basic equation. Yet, a part of you still wanted to deny it. The king would not do all that because of you. He could have any woman in the kingdom; in your estimate, he had.
“I do understand.” You said.
Loki was silent and he reached for the loaf of bread. He took a chunk of bread and a piece of cheese and offered it to you. You thanked him as you accepted it but didn’t feel much hunger as that terrible feeling sunk deeper and deeper. Was it destiny or dread?
“Is that it?” You wondered. “Nothing else to say?”
“On the matter of my brother and his foolery? No,” Loki bit into the cheese.
You looked down at the food in your hand and broke off a piece of cheese and bread and began to nibble at it. You ate slowly, silently. The prince offered you more but you declined as you feared your stomach would flip. He packed up the leftovers himself but did not rise. He took the book he had slipped into the basket and sat back, his legs sprawled out before him.
“Do you like stories?” He asked.
“I suppose,” You answered as you played with a blade of grass pulled from along the edge of the blanket. “My mother used to tell us about the monsters found by the fishermen.”
“Well this is nothing so fantastical as that but entertaining nonetheless,” Loki said. “Would you like me to read it to you?”
You considered him a moment. He had tasted bitter defeat and it seemed to humble him but you did not truly believe him. How could you? He had proven himself a convincing actor. Yet, you found the question harmless enough. A story; a brief escape from your reality. Perhaps he was belittling you with the offer but it seemed your pride would be chipped away one way or the other.
“I would,” You accepted. “If it is no trouble to you.”
“Not at all,” He accepted. “Come,” He pointed between his legs, “Sit with me.”
Then it returned. That repulsive flavour, that bubbling sickness. Ridicule. Why had you thought it would be anything less than another trick? You didn’t have the energy to argue with the prince. You’d tried it the night before and found it futile. Humour him and perhaps he would lose interest. It wasn’t so amusing when your prey gave you no chase.
You walked on your knees to him and turned to sit between his legs. His hand rested on your hip as he guided you and bent his legs to cradle you. His hand snaked around to your stomach and he urged you to lean back against him.
“Do you mind if I continue from my mark?” He asked.
“No,” You said flatly. You just didn’t care anymore.
“Very good,” He praised as he opened the book with one hand and cleared his throat.
‘He’d never seen a creature like her. Never seen the coils of sheer delight that seemed to contort her body.’
You went rigid as you registered the words, the scene set without much preamble as his soft tone seeped into your ears.
‘It was at his touch that she writhed and raved. That she pleaded for more and yet, he had barely done anything more than pet her.’
Loki’s hand slipped down your stomach to your lap. Before you could press your legs together, his hand was between them.
“Ahh,” He warned you bluntly. “Just sit and listen. Don’t you move.”
You swallowed and looked at the text. You’d never learned to read and wondered if perhaps he was conjuring the words on his own. It didn’t matter. You just sat there as his finger pressed your skirt against your cunt.
‘He obliged her, his fingers moving almost upon their own accord.’ His own seemed to mimic the written scene. ‘He traced circles along her tender bud and watched those upon her chest sharpen. The way she gasped, moaned, and soon enough, sobbed had him swollen with desire.’
His fingers swirled as he rubbed you through your dress and your thighs squeezed his hand as the peculiar tingle stoked the panic only then breaking through your apathy. You touched his hand and he waved you away with a hum which warned of worse. You bit your lip without thinking as the ripples that rose in you echoed the movement of his fingertips.
‘He slipped further down and felt the sacred folds of her flowers. Two fingers sank into her, coated in her lust, and she choked upon her pleasure.’
His words faded in your mind as his hand stoked your body. You’d never felt anything like it before. You wanted him to stop and yet you didn’t. His voice carried on without a hint of what he was doing to you but you could not focus on the story. You leaned into him and purred as you felt yourself nearing some precipice you couldn’t see.
Your toes curled against your sandals and you grasped Loki’s knee without thinking as you arched your back. You let out a sharp cry as the tension broke suddenly and deluge washed over you. Your eyes rolled back and closed as you panted through the pulsing pleasure and his fingers slowed, easing you down from your peak.
When you opened your eyes, the book was closed. You felt a prodding along your lower back and Loki’s hand floated away from your lap. He felt along your side and sent a shiver through you as he leaned in to inhale the scent of your neck. His lips brushed your skin as he spoke.
“Remember this when he takes you,” He said. “Know that he will never make you feel better than I can.”

The Baseborn Princess and the Aesir Prince
TITLE: The Baseborn Princess and the Aesir Prince
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 11 AUTHOR: wolfpawn ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine you’re a bastard daughter of a king of a far-off realm, the product of his drunken loneliness at battle. His guilt of cheating on his wife drove him to send you to live on Midgard, but due to the fact that his other children (and his wife) adore you, you’re often invited to visit. RATING: Teen and Up
Clodagh stood beside her sister as she declared her love for Hogun to the realm, reciting the words of marital bond as the ribbon was tied around their wrists and they became husband and wife. The usually stoic warrior looking at her lovingly as she spoke, telling Clodagh that he was perfect for her sister, it was clear to see, he worshipped the ground she stood on. It made her all the happier. She looked to those gathered. Thor was officiating the ceremony, something he had been honoured to do, since being named officially as the Crowned Prince on the announcement of his engagement to Princess Kaitlyn. Volstagg and Fandral stood beside Hogun and Clodagh and Regina beside Amelia.
Regina, to Clodagh’s shock, did not abandon her friendship but decided that she was all the more in need of non-judgemental people around her. Her ability to look past Regina’s often criticised appearance and befriend her, to begin with, was all that the other princess wanted or needed to know apparently. She insisted on helping Clodagh to get used to etiquette and other such things. The pair spoke quietly to one another as Amelia gave them a warning look and the pair erupted in giggles as she did so, trying to look innocent, but failing miserably.
It was then that her attention came to Loki, who was standing nearby, with her family, Liam beside him, making a comment that it would be them soon enough, Loki grinning more at the thought.
The day was pleasant, Amelia and Hogun were not overly overt people, so they had a small affair with their families and closest friends. The meal was pleasant, and after came a small party. Loki and Clodagh were never far from each other the entire time. They did dance with others and speak with people, but they were not far from each other. When the bride and groom were being led from the hall for the night, Loki wrapped his hands around his fiance’s waist.
‘That will be us soon.’
‘If I ever get this princess stuff sorted.’ Clodagh commented back.
‘I have it on good authority you are doing exceedingly well.’
‘Your source is lying to you.’ Loki chuckled. ‘I am just…’
‘Do not let it overwhelm you, my beautiful Clodagh, wait and see, it will not matter in the end.’
‘Why?’ She asked, turning to look at him in concern.
‘Because as soon as we say our vows, you and I are heading away.’ She frowned at him. He guided her to a window to the far side of the room and pointed to the distance. ‘Can you see the mountain, shaped like an arrowhead?’
‘Yes.’
‘There is a palace there, in the wilderness, surrounded by only a small village, it is our agricultural land, and you and I are going there for a time, with Rua and Mortimer of course, and we are going to enjoy a life free of the palace, royal roles and duties, and who knows what else.’
‘What are you implying?’
‘I see you with your nephews and nieces…’
‘You want little troublemakers?’
‘Hmm, plural?
‘Do you?’
‘With you, yes. I want a small army of terrorising little half-elven children knees grazed as they run through the bushes chasing some poor animal they want to “save”.’
‘And using their seidr to turn a younger sibling into a rabbit to play “animal rescue” with.’
Loki laughed, ‘Norns, yes. That sounds like utter bliss to me, what about you?’
She smiled and bit her lips together. ‘Is four too many for you?’
‘Light Elves like big families.’ She nodded. ‘I will bow to what you request on that matter, though I do not think we should set a number until you have endured a pregnancy. It may alter your feelings on the subject.’
‘As long as they are legitimate.’
‘If they were not, I would not deny them, I would not treat them differently, I would love them and declare to the worlds that I am their father and I love their mother, and dare them to say anything against them.’ Loki declared. ‘Besides, it is hardly a deterrent when the most incredible woman I have ever met is…well’ He gave her a loving smile.
Since the open declaration of the old law that allowed for Clodagh to be deemed legitimate, she and Loki seemed to speak more about the fact she was not born so, as a way to work through Clodagh’s self-esteem issues. It was working, very slowly. She seemed to accept herself a little more every day.
‘No.’
Loki put her hair behind her ear. ‘In all fairness, there is little risk of it happening, we have behaved ourselves.’
‘Thus far.’
‘True.’ Loki conceded.
*
Clodagh hardly noticed Loki enter the room. ‘Hello, my dear.’ She did not turn to look at him. ‘Clodagh?’
She turned slightly, not looking at him, instead keeping her gaze of Mortimer, who was falling asleep after a meal of grubs. ‘Hi.’
‘Hey, is everything okay? Is it something to do with the wedding?’ Loki asked worriedly.
As they readied themselves for the wedding, Loki was concerned by the severe lack of cold feet he was certain Clodagh would get.
‘My sister has decided to ruin everything.’
Loki frowned. He knew she was after meeting her sister for the first time in six months, Amelia and Hogun having spent a month in Asgard after their wedding before going to Vanaheim for half a year. ‘Is she not coming?’
‘No, she is coming, she is, after all, my chief bridesmaid.’
‘Then what is the issue?’
‘The dresses I had the dressmaker make.’
‘Yes?’
‘Guess who got pregnant on her wedding night? How terribly inconsiderate of her.’ Clodagh beamed. ‘My sister is having a baby.’
Loki thought for a moment that Clodagh was legitimately upset with Amelia regarding her pregnancy, but seeing her bounce slightly in excitement made him realise she had been joking. ‘Another niece or nephew to favour you over the others.’
‘Didn’t you hear, Uncle Loki is the best uncle, he does magic.’ She smiled.
‘Forget our little army, we have a legion of nieces and nephews.’ Loki grinned, putting his arms around her. ‘So you do not mind your sister taking some of your thunder?’
‘Not at all, I am just so happy that she is happy. They are so excited, I hope….if it comes to us…that we are as happy.’
‘We will be, wait and see.’

Exiles of Asgard (1/?)
Notes: Hey look at the pretty! I did a thing - The sequel to Ward of Asgard! Minor Ragnarok spoilers ahead.
Pairing: Loki x Althea/OC
Tumblr media
Exiles of Asgard: Introduction  - Heimdall
The Gatekeeper stood near the podium in the Bifrost gate. He ran his hand over the sheath for his great sword. The great sword – only his weapon and gungnir were capable of unlocking the Bifrost. With a heavy sigh he spoke, “I know you’re aware of who sits on the throne.”
“I am,” Althea replied softly.
The golden eyed god continued, “He is surprisingly effective at governing Asgard when unchallenged. But I swore my oaths to Odin not to your husband. I cannot, however, in good conscience continue to serve when I know there is a…pretender upon the throne. When the nine realms are again sinking into chaos and he does nothing.” This was hard for Heimdall, harder than he cared to admit – to step down from his role as the Bifrost’s Gatekeeper and guardian. His last duty had been opening the bridge to allow his sister, Sif, to return after her altercation with the Kree on earth. At least Odin – Loki – had seen them as a threat. If nothing else, the pretender had an interest in keeping Midgard safe.
Althea climbed up the stairs to the keyhole, walking around to face Heimdall. She’d protected all of them from any repercussions under Loki’s rule. Not that he’d been particularly concerned with penalizing any of his former friends. “Heimdall,” the elf began, “You’re the only person we can truly trust with the Bifrost.” She paused, “You’ve protected every single one of us. More than once.”
He chuckled. “That is true, my young friend,” this meant leaving his friends, his kingdom, and everything he’d ever known. “I know that this will brand me a traitor, but it’s the right thing to do.” Loki’s illusion had worked against him for over a year, clouded his vision but only when it came to the current king. What he wanted to say was that he appreciated her honest. The fact that the Silver-Tongued God’s wife had lied. That he had appreciated the friendship she’d shown him over the years.  “No my princess,” he said, “Until either Odin or Thor returns, I cannot do this.”
“And who will be here to open the Birost to them if not you,” she asked quickly.
Hanging his head and pulling off his gilded horned helmet, “Someone else I fear. Though I trust you will keep our king on the proper path. I know it was you who reigned in a great deal of his …plans.” He meant the statue, the plays, everything that effective martyred and sainted Loki. Dead or alive, his actions on Svartalfheim earned him some measure of honor and affection from Asgard but things had gone from reasonable to self-serving in short order.
She nodded. Heimdall had been on guard at the Bifrost since she was a child, not much beyond a child himself actually. Taking the role from his father after his mother passed away during a skirmish with the dwarves of Nidvallir. He’d missed the wedding between his father and Sif’s mother, missed the girl’s birth, and later naming ceremonies out of a sense of duty. That this place was both his burden and his sanctuary. Even after the battle between Thor and Loki destroyed the gate itself, he’d taken up his post on the shattered Bifrost. He sighed heavily and turned to Althea, “Unless you know where Odin is, and can return him, my decision has been made old friend.”
The elf took a step towards him, nodding. “You’ve never been one to let even Loki sway you.”
“Indeed. And I have given my life to this,” he motioned to the chamber around him, “Should real need arise, should the realm need me as well as what friends I kept, then I will return. You have my word Princess.” With that he bowed his head. “I trust you’ll bring this to our king?”
Heimdall turned the blade of the key sword towards himself, the hilt pointed at the elf. With a heavy sigh she nodded, “Of course.” As her hands wrapped around it, Heimdall took a number of steps back.
“Farewell, Princess,” he bowed his head again, practically disappearing out of the Bifrost chamber.
She sighed as he walked off, “Good luck old friend.”
--
In his guise as Odin, Loki demanded, “What do you mean Hemidall has abandoned his post?”
“Not abandoned it my king, he has...resigned,” she corrected carefully.
Brow furrowed, the gray-haired Asgardian practically glared at her. “I see.” The Warriors Three and Lady Sif were present, he couldn’t just drop the illusion and have a regular conversation with Althea (who avoided the throne room at all cost, despite the reunion she and Loki had had months earlier). Clearing his throat, Loki-Odin sat back in the throne – deliberating the fate of the now former gate keeper.
Heimdall had been correct  - these actions made him a traitor. Though it did give Loki an excuse to place a more friendly party, or at least one less loyal to Thor, at the Bifrost’s gate. “This is most unusual,” he said after what felt like hours. “However,” He looked at Volstagg and in the usual bluster of the All-Father continued, “Until a more permanent replacement is found, I charge you – Volstagg of the Warriors Three – with the care and guardianship of the Bifrost Gate.”
The red-haired goliath of a man stammered, bowing low to Odin, “I am honored my king.” Recovering, he crossed to Althea. She still possessed Heimdall’s sword, a burden she was almost happy to be rid of and somewhat visibly relieved to be passing on to Volstagg. At least he was competent and trustworthy. Sword in hand, he bowed again, “My lord, I shall go to the Bifrost Gate at once.”
Odin bowed his head, dismissing Volstagg. Hogun and Fandral followed suit and trailed off behind their friend.
“Daughter,” he spoke, that word like bile in his mouth, “If you would excuse us, I should like to discuss her brother’s disappearance with Lady Sif.”
The shield maiden protested, eyes wide, “My king, I would think it best if the Princess stayed.” She was quick, not giving either the monarch nor her effective advocate time to do anything but breathe.
Exasperated he acquiesced, even the real Odin would have been too tired to argue at this point in the affair. “Very well.” He nodded to her, watching the shield maiden breathe a sigh of relief at the action. “Did you have any knowledge of your brother’s intentions, Lady Sif? If so, when did he mention them to you and why did you not bring them to your king? Or at the least, my daughter.” Again that word was like bile.
Careful in her choice of words, Sif answered the All-Father’s questions. “Heimdall and I have never been particularly close. That aside, if he had told me of whatever turmoil led him to decide to abandon his post, I would have forewarned you immediately my king,” when Odin nodded, she continued, “My brother is the most stouthearted Gatekeeper the realm has known in ages. I would not have let him leave without doing anything in my power to prevent it.”
It was true. They weren’t close.
Heimdall was decades older than his sister, their mothers different women and he had taken his post before she was born. The All-Father asked if Sif knew where her brother may have gone – was he merely hiding or had he left the realm. Did he have a lover he might go to? She had no answers for him on those or any questions he asked about the gatekeeper.
Inevitably, Althea stepped forward, putting herself between Sif and Odin. “My king, she knows naught where her brother would be nor why he left. She has said so numerous times. Nor did Heimdall himself provide any clue as to where he would go when he turned the key sword over to my keeping.”
“Then it is with a  heavy heart that I must declare Heimdall a traitor to Asgard. Should he be found, or return, he will be punished  accordingly,” he shook his head. To Sif, it looked as though he were truly aggrieved to declare Heimdall a traitor. Althea knew better. “Lady Sif, you may return to your duties,” he said after a moment.
Sif bowed, taking her leave.

Taming the rage
TITLE: Taming the Rage
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 66
 AUTHOR: lokilover9
Original Imagine: Imagine Odin tells Loki that he has to marry and it’s you. You’ve hated him for years. Every time he sees you in the palace he smirks knowing all the duties you’ll have to perform as his princess, making you cringe. He isn’t exactly fond of you either, but can’t help looking forward to the challenge.
RATING: Teen
While Loki was becoming besties with the floor, Eir had another surprise for Erika. The lab had developed a pill form for the present dose of antidote she was taking and she offered it under one condition. Erika was not to push herself physically simply because she had more freedom to do so and she was to stay with her for another three weeks. Erika assured her Loki wouldn’t allow that and knowing how diligently he’d cared for her, Eir believed it. She’d also known about Lokis plan to propose. Not only was she concerned the next few days of wedding preparations may exhaust Erika, but Frigga had secretly spoken to her. She wouldn’t reveal what, but told Eir the couple needed to be informed of something extremely important after marrying and feared it may cause Erika great stress. Therefore, Eir wanted immediate access to her just in case. Once Erika promised to agree, she removed her IV and Loki came to just as Eir was putting a bandage on Erikas hand.
He stood abruptly and snapped at Eir.
“What the hell are you doing? She’ll die without that!”
Erika rubbed his arm. “Loki no, it’s alright. Please listen?”
After an explanation, he calmed down and apologized. “Forgive me Eir. I think that may have been one too many unexpected surprises in one day.”
He rubbed his head and Erika chuckled. “Are you alright?”
“I’m a God, I’ll be fine.” Eir was pursing her lips as he glanced back at her. “So she’s really doing that good?”
“Yes, she is.”
He smiled at Erika.“Then I couldn’t be happier.”
“Honestly.” She teased. “You don’t trust Eir by now?” She stepped off the table and took his hand. “Come on daddy. We have news to spread.”
“Daddy? You learned that word from Jane didn’t you? And not until you eat.”
“Fine.” She replied.
Eir smirked as Erika lead him out the door, glancing back with her eyes crossed.
“Valhalla help me if I don’t.”
Upon reaching Thors, all were happy to hear that Saturday was a go and Erika was well enough to be free of her dancing partner. As she and Loki kept smiling however, Jane sensed something was up.
“Okay. What aren’t you guys telling us?”
Loki suddenly held his arms in the air, flexing his muscles all proud. “My boys can swim everyone! They can swim!” He blurted.
Erika slid a hand down her face. “I can’t believe you just said that. Exactly how hard ‘did’ you bump your head?” She glanced at everyone. “We’re having twins.” Then glanced back at Loki. “And how do know they’re boys you dork?”
Loki pointed at Jane while looking at Erika. “Another word you learned from her I gather?”
It finally registered with everyone just as Erika stuck her tongue out at him and Junior started laughing.
“WHAT?” Said Jane, pulling her into a hug. “Well you came back with a bang girl, this is great!”
Frigga smiled and did the same. “Oh my. You’ll need your own nanny now Darling.”
Thor was shaking Lokis hand. “Congratulations. Sleep while you can, you’ll need it.”
Frigga walked over and hugged him. “Leave it up to you.” She teased. “The God of Mischief and what’s this about bumping your head?”
Loki rolled his eyes. “It’s not important.”
“It is funny though.” Said Erika.
He sighed, knowing she was about to explain.
“Someone was a little ‘shocked’ to learn of his ‘double trouble.’”
Thor smirked at him. “Brother, you didn’t.”
Everyone was laughing until Erika suddenly yawned.
“Oh oh, party’s over for you.” Said Loki.
“Alright, but give me a moment?” She turned to Frigga. “May I speak with you alone please?”
They emerged from another room shortly after and once Loki and Erika left, Frigga had an errand to run. Ten minutes later, she was at her seamstresses. “This will be the dress and I’ll bring her around tomorrow.” ~~~~~~ After they arrived in Erikas room, Loki watched as she changed back into one of Eirs gowns.”
“Now who’s ogling who?” She asked.
“Oh? At least, I’m not hiding like a dirty little pervert.”
Her jaw fell open as she climbed onto the bed. “Loki!”
“What? I’ve no problem with your perversions Darling, the kinkier the better. And what were you discussing with Mother?”
“‘My’ perversions? This coming from someone who makes clones of himself and takes joy in them endlessly teasing me while he watches with his dick in his hand? And none of your business by the way. You’ll find out soon enough.”
A devilish smirk spread across his face. “Come now, you loved every minute of it.”
“Okay, I’m going to sleep now.”
When she laid down, Loki leaned to her stomach. “Hello there. Allow me to inform you that you exist because someone forgot her birth control when we went camping.”
Erikas cheeks went scarlet. “How did you know?”
“In a minute, I’m not done speaking with them.”
She rolled her eyes as he continued.
“And instead of opting for a spanking…”
Erika began sliding the pillow from beneath her.
“Your Mother chose kinky sex while I whispered very nasty things to her…”
She attempted a whack, but Loki caught it, pressed it against her boobs and shook them with it.
“Because she’s perverted!”
They laughed as he put it back. “I didn’t figure it out until long after the trip. Is that what you were searching for that morning?”
“Yes.”
Loki kissed her. “I’m very happy you forgot them. Do you realize what it means now that we’ve learned of my ‘double trouble’ today?”
“Triple including me.” She teased. “But what exactly?”
He smiled while caressing her cheek. “That now I’ll have three Angels to love instead of two.” ~~~~~
For the first time in what seemed like forever, Erika took a shower in the morning and Loki was chuckling when she came out.
“What?” She asked.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d swear you were doing something else in there by all the sounds you were making. ‘Mmm. Oh this is sooo goood! Ahhh.Yesss!’”
She shook her head. “Very funny. Did you bring me any clothes?”
“Yes, why?”
“I have to be somewhere this morning with my Mother in law.”
“I see. Then I’ll have to find something to occupy my time then.”
Frigga stole Erika away shortly after breakfast and Loki decided he’d go riding. He’d just left his chambers, when running into Volstagg and Hogun on their way to the palace Lounge.
“Have a date with horsey?” Asked Volstagg.
“As a matter of fact, I do.”
After asking about Erika and learning of the twins, they convinced him to join them for a celebratory drink. One lead to another while playing darts and they teased him about becoming a Father with her.
“All those years you drove her so crazy and she never killed you? I still can’t believe it.” Said Hogun.
“Neither can I.” Said Loki.
“And now you’re creating more like her.” Teased Volstagg. “Have you lost your fucking mind? We should just dig you a grave and shoot your sorry ass into it now. I guarantee it would be less painful.”
Loki laughed. “You’re probably right.”
Hogun leaned towards Volstagg. “How much do you think he’d pay us not to tell her he said that?”
Loki cleared his throat and crossed his arms. “How easily do you think it would be for me to shoot you both and bury you in that hole before you even drew a weapon?”
Volstagg got the bar servants attention. “Four more doubles please and two go to our Prince.”
Too busy enjoying themselves, none had considered eating, so all three were quite sloshed by early afternoon. Thor was looking for Loki and when hearing some boisterous laughter from the Lounge, decided to investigate.
“Ohh shit.” Said Hogun, gesturing towards the door. “Here cometh thy Kingeth.”
After glancing around to make sure the lounge was empty, he and Volstagg stood together and once Thor was close, knelt before him. “To what do we owe the graciousness of your presence your majesty and God of Electrical Currents?”
Thor looked at the bar servant who gestured towards five empty bottles of whisky. With raised brows, he looked back at the men. “Get up please before I set your arses on fire?”
They clumsily helped each other up.
“Well then.” Said Volstagg to Hogun. “When we were friends, he would have said asses. Remember?”
“Why yes, I do indeed.” Hogun replied. “Perhaps all that goldeth in his crowneth has put a denteth in his head?”
“Perhaps you gentlemen would care to sleepeth things offeth in the dungeons?”
“Oh oh.” Said Volstagg. “It appears we’ve upseteth our Kingeth.”
Thor smirked. “I’m kidding men. Have you seen Loki around?”
“He was her..but then left.” Said Hogun, dismissively waving an arm.
“Her?” Asked Volstagg. “You’re cuteth offeth.”
Thor gave up on them and went to the bar servant. Not only did he learn Loki had left around ten minutes earlier, but that he alone drank almost two bottles.
Frigga was walking Erika back to her room after the seamstresses and a visit with Jane about her bouquet, when they entered to find Loki lying perpendicular across both beds. His arms and head were dangling completely over one side and his long legs the other, while he snored up a storm. Just as Erika raised her brows, Thor entered.
“At least I know where he is now.”
“He’s dressed to go riding. What happened to him?” Asked Frigga.
“He ‘happened’ upon a pair of court jesters.”
Erika chuckled. “I’ll bet I know exactly which ones too.”
Frigga rolled her eyes. “Come on Thor. Help me move him.”
“Awe, let’s leave him. He really needed to have some fun.” Said Erika.
“Come then.” Frigga held out her arm. “Someone we know has the day off today. Let’s pay them a surprise visit shall we?”
Jarles was elated upon opening his door to Erika as were her sisters and all were very ecstatic to learn she was having twins. She and Frigga spent the afternoon and left after dinner.
Loki slept for hours and after looking for Erika at Thors and then her Fathers, suspected she may have gone to their chambers. He entered to find her sleeping on one of the living room couches and questioned Frigga.
“Why is she here?”
“You were hogging both beds Darling.”
“Then why didn’t you wake me?”
“She was happy you’d enjoyed yourself and insisted I didn’t. She asked to come here after dinner and when becoming tired, requested I bring her the blanket from your bed.”
Loki sighed while approaching the couch. “If she wakens here, I’ll never get her back to Eirs.”
“I know.” Said Frigga. “She’d been awake all day though Darling and couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer.”
Erika grumbled as he scooped her into his arms, blanket and all. “Loki, nooo.”
“Yes Erika, you’re going.”
He carried her back to Eirs and once placing her in bed, made her look at him. “Why did you have Mother take you back to our chambers?”
“We passed it on the way back from my Fathers.”
“And?”
“I knew you were still sleeping.”
She lowered her head and he lifted her chin. “We both know you could have come back here. Eir would have gladly allowed you to sleep in another room until I awoke, correct?”
She tried looking away again, but he forbid it. “Correct?”
“I really missed it Loki, alright?”
“I see.” Despite her pouting, his tone became a little stern. “Listen to me Erika. I already know how much you miss it, but breaking that promise to Eir, is no different than breaking it to me and I will not allow it. Do you understand?”
Her eyes were sliding shut as she nodded. “I..I’m sorry.”
With her hand now free, they were able to cuddle like they used to and he wedged her up against him like a perfectly fit glove. “I’m sorry too, I shouldn’t have kept you from your bed. Please don’t go back there again without me?”
“K.”
“Good girl, now go to sleep.” ~~~~~~~ Frigga was now residing in Thors old chambers so he and Jane could have their privacy and the next morning, arrived to pick up Erika again.
Loki was confused. “Why will I not see her until tomorrow?”
Erika smirked while Frigga replied.
“You aren’t permitted to until after the ceremony. Eir is staying over night with us, so worry not.”
Loki left with them and after kissing Erika goodbye, had just started down another corridor when Frigga called to him.
“Wherever you’re headed, be certain it’s not to the Lounge with any court jesters?”
“Yes Mother.” He walked away rolling his eyes and a few minutes later, entered Thors chambers. “Ah, brother. Mother has barred me from all entertainment with court jesters. Care to join me in an afternoon of entertainment at a brothel instead?” His brows rose when hearing a voice from another room.
“I heard that! Have you forgotten what a good wallop I pack?”
“Why, hello Jane.” He leaned towards Thor, speaking quieter. “Is her hearing always that good?”
Thor replied just as quietly. “It’s improved since we’ve married, which has benefitted me none. It’s the fate of all husbands.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” Said Loki.
“I heard that too boys and can pack more than one wallop!” She opened a door nearby and exited with a rolled up diaper in her hand. “Unless you’d prefer a toxic stink bomb instead?”
Loki laughed as Junior began following her out. “If that’s what lies ahead, I’ll be sure to leave that chore with Erika.”
“Good luck.” Said Thor.
Junior took one look at Loki and ran straight for him. “Okiii!” Once Loki picked him up, he glanced around. “Weeka?”
“She’s at grandma’s house buddy.”
“Which is where I’m heading now and he’s staying here with daddy.” Said Jane.
Thor sighed and when walking away, Loki followed. “The next time you have such intentions, make sure my wife is ‘not’ within earshot? We may stand a better chance of escaping.”
“We could still try after she’s gone. Bring some toys for Junior, slip the Madam some extra funds and she’ll mind him for a bit.”
“Let’s wait until he goes for a nap.” Said Thor. “Then I’ll have a servant mind him.”
“Splendid idea brother.”
Jane still hadn’t moved after giving the diaper to a servant. “I’ll quarter you Thor!”
“Did you hear something Loki?”
“Not a thing, why?”
Just as they entered another room, she shouted down the hall. “I’m telling on you Oki! Erikas wallops are much worse than mine, remember?”
They closed the door and Loki looked at Junior. “She’s going to ruin my honeymoon your Mother.” Junior just giggled. “And don’t you care one bit do you?”
The three ladies spent the morning having manicures and pedicures and after lunch, Erika slept for a while. When she awoke, her father came by and took her for a stroll in the garden. They sat near a bush of pink roses and Jarles smiled.
“They were your Mothers favorite. Do you remember?”
She smiled back. “I do.”
“I still can’t believe I’m going to be a grandfather. With four daughters, I knew it was inevitable, but certainly thought your older sisters would beat you to it.” He looked at her and smirked. “Erika, how did this happen?”
“I’m not discussing that with you Father. We had this talk already.”
Jarles chuckled. “Twins. Leave it up to Loki.”
“Frigga said the same. I don’t think it’s really sunk in for me yet. Maybe as I get bigger.”
“You mean when you look like a boat?”
“Father!”
He laughed. “I used to say that to your Mother. She was always so graceful, yet that flew out the window the bigger she became while pregnant. Especially when trying to get off the couch. ‘Poor ship Asta,’ I’d say. ‘She’s anchored herself again. Can’t seem to unload that final barrel.’”
Erika shook her head. “You’re terrible.”
“While pregnant with you, she called your older sisters her tug boats.”
“Why me?” Asked Erika.
“You weighed the most at birth. I should warn Loki to wear a helmet while you’re in labor. One nine pounder earned me some bald spots. With two, he might be shopping for a toupee.”
Her brows rose. “If each weighs nine pounds by the time my labor starts, he’s going to be minus a lot more than just hair.”
“I’ll warn him to wear crotch armor too then. I walked a little funny for almost as long as your Mother did after you were born.”
Erika laughed. “Mother actually did that to you?”
“Yes and cursed me to Valhalla in the process. Buldurs wife had an eleven pounder a month before your sister was born and suggestion I use it. Helga ended up being the smallest, so your Mother was kind.”
After they laughed together, a moment of silence fell between them before he spoke again.
“I’m very grateful your Mother sent you and our grandchildren back to us. Especially for Loki’s sake. He wouldn’t have survived without you.”
“Thank you Father, I’m grateful she did too. I do know Loki loves me, but I’m sure he would have eventually been alright.”
Jarles shook his head. “No. Even Frigga believed the same. When I first put my trust in your Mothers word through Frigga and finally betrothed you to him, I questioned my own sanity for doing so and prayed one day you’d forgive me. The hurt in your eyes when I walked from Eirs rooms that day ate at me for the longest time.”
“Oh Father, I’m not angry. Learning of Mothers secrets, I realize now the difficult position you were left in.”
“You have no idea.” He cleared his throat. “It wasn’t only ‘our’ relationship that concerned me then, but what kind of life you were about to have betrothed to one who..who’s neck I’d envisioned my hands around on so many occasions.”
He said that with a chuckle and she joined him. “It’s alright. You weren’t alone, remember?”
Jarles took her hand. “I know. Over time, I came to see he felt much for you, yet still doubted if he truly loved you. Then I saw him holding you in the waters and heard his words.”
Erika stared at him. “You heard him?”
“Yes, as did Frigga. He needed a moment so we didn’t disturb him at first. You felt his words in your heart as his love Erika, but I wish you to know my perspective. The way he held you and touched you, the fear, the sadness and the terrible desperation in his expression and voice, reminded me of myself the day I lost your Mother. It almost broke me the way it almost did Loki and I want you to know why.”
Erika developed a lump in her throat as he continued.
“His joy, his light, his happiness, his reason for living and breathing, his ‘heart’ was dying and it was tearing him up inside at the deepest level. That’s when I realized I’d never need to question his love for you again as I know he would have taken your place in a second as I would have for your Mother. You’re a beautiful soul whose made us both proud and been a joy as a daughter and when I give you his hand tomorrow, I’ll know your Mother was right. He will adore you forever Erika and I couldn’t be happier for you.”
By the time Jarles was done, tears were rolling down her cheeks and he hugged her. “Enough of that now my lovely daughter. It’s time for you to be happy.”
“I love you Father.”
“I love you too.” He helped her to her feet. “Let’s get you back now little mama. Frigga will never forgive me if I exhaust you and that’s a wrath I can do without.”
Erika chuckled. “I agree.”

Across the Divide
TITLE: Across The Divide CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter Twenty-Eight AUTHOR: wolfpawn ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki sneaking out of the palace as a youth to see the city and countryside, while out one day, he accidentally gets in trouble for something, but a young girl deals with the situation, allowing him to be left alone and his true identity be kept secret. She is a poor girl who is only in the city to sell goods with her father, so she does not realise it is Loki, even though she sees his face. They form a friendship as she shows him around the city, and tells him the date she comes to the city every month for a particular market. RATING: Teen and Up
Ariella focused on the work in front of her until she was bleary-eyed. Rubbing her eyes, she stretched then groaned as she got off the chair and made her way back through the palace to her rooms, paying little heed to the world around her. When she went through one hallway, she paused when a young man stood in front of her, blocking her path. ‘Hello?’
‘You are Prince Loki’s little hottie, are you not?’ The man grinned.
‘His what?’ In all honesty, Ariella had no idea what a “hottie” was, it did not seem like a thing one would want to be.
‘His toy, his plaything, his concubine.’
Until concubine, Ariella was under the impression that the man was referencing her as an actual plaything for Loki, something he amused himself with, but even she knew the meaning of that word. ‘I am happy to tell you that you are mistaken, I am no such thing.’ She tried to step around him but he took hold of her arm. ‘Let go of me.’ She hissed through gritted teeth.
‘If you are not in bed with Prince Loki, then you should warm mine.’
‘I would rather drink poison.’ She stated, trying to pull her arm free. ‘If you do not let go of me, right now, I will break your damn fingers.’ When he did not do so, she shrugged. ‘Suit yourself.’ She grabbed the man’s hand, pulled him around so he fell to the floor on his back and grabbed his fingers and thumb on the hand that had touched her, then, with a foot on his chest, leant her weight in a manner that forced pressure to the knuckles, breaking and popping each of them with the force used. The man yelled out in pain. A moment later, two guards came around the corner, not sure what to do with the scene they were witnessing before the man yelled at them again.
‘Seize her.’ She turned to see a man she had never seen before, but who clearly was very highborn by his attire rushing forwards towards them, another well-dressed man beside him. The guards obeyed and grabbed Ariella by an arm each and held her fast. Ariella, though scared, looked at the man with her head high. ‘You filthy little wench, how dare you touch my son, a man of high birth and injuring him in such a manner.’
‘If that was my son, the last thing I would ever do is openly admit to such a shaming.’ She spat back. ‘He is a pig, but clearly, it is learned from you.’
The man’s face went puce with anger at her words. ‘You will be lashed for what you have said and done.’
‘Lash me a thousand times, it doesn’t make you and your son any less vile.’ She shook, not only in fear but in anger at the man would not acknowledge the fault in his son.
The man seemed less than pleased with her tenacity and sneered at her. ‘I will take pleasure in hearing you scream in pain.’
‘Not as much as I will enjoy yours.’ Ariella gasped in relief as the man’s face paled and when he turned, she saw Loki standing there, his face filled with disdain and anger. ‘Let go of her, this instant.’ He snapped at the guards. The guards, knowing that for all his anger and bluster, Lord Ivan held nothing near the power of their Prince, obeyed. Loki walked over to Ariella, noting immediately the darkening of bruises on her arms from their grips. ‘Report to the Captain of the Einherjar, immediately. I will have you dealt with after I deal with these vile rats.’
‘That will not be necessary, Your Highness.’ Loki’s snarl became a slight sneer as the Captain himself came into view, and with him, Thor and Odin. ‘Did the lady resist being held?’ He demanded, neither replied. ‘Then why in the name of the Norns is she marked? And what made it necessary for two men your sizes to hold her, she is smaller than most bloody Light Elves.’ The men winced. ‘Drills, and cleaning duties for a month for both of you. Now, did you see what occurred?’
‘She…’
‘Ivan, are you a guard?’ Odin interjected. ‘Because if you are not, you will not speak until you are spoken to.’ Odin turned to Ariella. ‘What happened?’
She indicated to the man sitting on the floor, his mutilated hand clear for all to see. ‘That man suggested that I am nothing more than a concubine and to warm his bed, when I declined, he grabbed me.’ She pointed to the worst bruise on her, which was now a deep purple. ‘I told him to let go or I would break his fingers, he would not, so I did as I said I would.’
‘My son does not want or need to touch a lowborn woman.’ Ivan shouted. ‘So you admit to harming him?’
‘Shut up, you fool. I think you forgot the part where she was first accosted, then warned your filthy boy to let go of her.’ Odin growled. ‘I am very well versed in our laws, but you, Jarl, are the professional, what is the defence here?’
‘Self-defence surely?’ Thor stated. ‘He could have assaulted her further if she did not protect herself.’
‘Further?’ Ivan spat.
‘He marked the Lady’s arm, she gave him a warning, she very much is covered under self-defence, and with the marking to her arm, she does indeed have a case for assault.’ The Captain stated.
Loki found himself standing close to her. When she looked at her injured arm, he gently extended his hands. ‘May I?’ She looked at him, seeing the same caring that she always knew and loved throughout their years of knowing one another in his face and nodded. He gently touched her arm, the marks of the Einherjar paled in comparison to what was in front of him when revealed properly. He recalled her saying before that she bruised easily, and of some of the marks her father had left on her skin in his grief. ‘It needs Eir. the blood is not stemming under the skin.’
‘Get her there, immediately. I will deal with this.’ Odin promised.
‘Ivan swore to flog her, that he would take pleasure in her agony.’ He informed his father before he took Ariella’s hand in his and walked down the hall at the pace he knew was the swiftest she could comfortably walk.
When they left, a shocked looking Thor and an appalled and livid Odin stared at Ivan, who seemed to quiver visibly. ‘We...we do not flog people, do we Father?’ Thor asked, terrified of the thought.
‘No civilised realm would ever do such a thing.’ Odin dismissed before turning to Ivan once more. ‘What atrocities are you performing against the common people without jurisdiction or law?’ He stood tall over the Lord.
‘It was merely a threat, nothing more.’ Ivan stated, his voice shaking.
‘You tell a maiden, a woman barely legally an adult, that you will flog her and take pleasure in her agony as a threat? What sort of barbaric animal are you, and what fool do you take me for to think I would believe such lies?’
‘Allfather…’
‘Your son is to be sent to the armies, he will do ten years service, and on his return from training, he will be sent to Vanaheim, to serve under the Athena Warriors, those women will ensure your son’s learning of proper treatment of the sex.’ Odin explained calmly. ‘While you, Ivan, will be held in the cells until I get numbers for those you have wronged in this way. For every man and woman you have wronged, you will be stripped of land, deeds and moneys, to be used to pay your victims for your crimes against them, any Lord that stands by you will face similar, Asgard will not protect those who have abused their power. I am the King of Asgard, of the lowliest pauper, to my house, I will defend them to the last. It is my duty as King, to die for them if needs be, and I will do it willingly if the time ever arises, without hesitation.’
Ivan fell to his knees, ‘No…’
‘NO!? You do not get to dictate to me you filthy excuse of an Aesir, you abuse your power, you bully a victim of assault and you raise your son to think a woman can be used to warm his bed as he sees fit without her consent? If you and your son refuse to acknowledge a ‘no’ then so too shall that justice be given to you. Jarl, have him thrown down there now, I want him out of my sight.’
‘And his son?’
‘Lord Baldric will have to see a healer about his hand….AFTER Lady Ariella is done. She has suffered enough in his presence today, and should he so much as look at her, I fear I will be forced to try and extract the location of his corpse from my son.’
‘Sons.’ Thor corrected, glaring at Baldric. ‘I will escort him there, personally.’
Odin clapped his son’s shoulder. ‘Good man. I will send word to your mother, she planned on seeing Ariella this evening for dinner.’
‘Yes Father, I will inform her myself if I see her on the way.’ Thor looked to the other Lord that had been in Ivan’s company. ‘Lord Frederick, please inform Fandral and indeed Hogun and Volstagg that I have become predisposed and give my apologies.’
‘Of course, I need to discuss another matter with my son anyway.’ The Lord bowed.
‘All this happened around you Frederick and you said nothing.’ Odin commented. ‘Fandral is known to be somewhat...enthusiastic, shall we call it, with women also. Surely you do not agree with this behaviour and set it down as example for your son?’
‘Of course not, Sire. I merely…’ Odin’s glare silenced his words.
‘If I hear of similar regarding you, Frederick, I will not hesitate to take what I feel is correct reparations for those on your lands also.’
‘I would never do such things, Allfather, and regarding my son, I will ensure he is aware that unwanted advances on his behalf are to be left that way after he is declined, should they occur.’
‘Very well, I suggest you do so immediately.’ Frederick bowed comically low before turning on his heels and bolting away. ‘One thing about allies Ivan, when it is time to nail colours to the mast against an enemy, one look at the enemy will send most scarpering back for cover, especially when the enemy is the king, and a king that the common people know to truly care for their interests. How long do you think you and your like would last in a revolt? Sure, you may get me, if I was in Odinsleep perhaps, but my sons, the young powerful man that can wield thunder, or the one that with my staff, can obliterate any near him, and without it, do similar with a blade, even their mother, she would have you cower. Then, of course, there are the warriors, the Einherjar, the guards, and of course, the common people. For every one guard Asgard has, there are five civilians, think about that. I know we currently have five hundred thousand guards spread over Asgard, that is two and a half million civilians. Can you think to take that many, I know you have forced them back before as individuals with fear, or killing four hundred at once with a mine collapse...then there are the eighteen hundred Einherjar, all highly trained in their own rights. Then, of course, our allies further afield. Vanaheim, Alfheim, Nidavellir, and Helheim even signed treaties with is not long ago. You cannot think you stood chance against us, surely? Take him away.’
*
Loki got Ariella to the healer’s swiftly, though none were in there on their arrival. An aide stated she would get one, and told them to just sit and wait. ‘It is getting bigger.’ Loki noted, seeing the bruise spread.
‘Why will it not stop?’
‘You are not full strength yet, you can only take so much.’ he explained, looking closely at it. When he looked up at her face again, he cleared his throat. ‘Do you...do you want me to leave?’
‘No, please stay.’ She gave him a small smile. ‘How was Alfheim?’
Loki cleared his throat. ‘Fine, other than what needed to be done.’
‘Good.’ Ariella nodded, feeling as though her attempts to speak with him were not wanted.
‘And here?’
‘Alright.’
‘You are walking around now.’
‘Yes.’
‘And breaking fingers.’
She smiled at that. ‘He should not have touched me.’
‘Indeed, he chose the wrong Aesir to do that to.’ Loki agreed. ‘Did he really say you were a concubine?’
‘Your concubine, and plaything.’ She divulged.
‘I apologise.’
‘Why?’
‘I am the reason he said those things.’
‘No Loki, he is the reason he said them, that is not your fault.’
Loki looked at her. ‘Your hair has grown.’
‘Yes.’ She put her hand through it. ‘It has a long way to go yet, but it will get there.’
‘It suits you now, there seems to be something different about it.’
‘It is clean, brushed and I am eating food with nutritional value?’ She suggested.
Loki chuckled. ‘Yes, perhaps that is it. You look so different Ari, I hardly recognise you.’
‘Is that good or bad?’
‘Good, you look healthier, it’s good to know you are okay.’
‘Yes.’
The tension grew between the pair.
‘Ari, I am so sorry.’ Loki could not take it any longer.
‘Why did you do it?’
‘I got scared, I was…Ari…’ He shook his head. ‘I was scared because the more time I spent with you, the more I wanted to spend.’
‘That does not sound overly scary.’
‘It scared me because it forced me to acknowledge that I do not control myself as much as I think I do.’
‘That makes no sense.’
‘I cannot explain it,’ Loki shrugged. ‘I can hardly make sense of it, but please, Ari, please understand, it is not because I did not wish to share your company, I find I want it too much.’
‘So you pushed me away?’
‘I understand that makes no sense, but yes.’
Ariella looked him up and down. ‘You know you are an idiot, right?’
Loki chuckled. ‘Yes, I can be, on occasion.’
‘Thank you for saving me.’
‘Anytime. I am sorry you had to endure that.’
Ariella leant against him, her head against his shoulder and sighed. ‘Girls get that all the time.’
‘You should not have to though.’ without thinking, he held her hand in his, intertwining their fingers. ‘Does it hurt?’
‘Not really. I had worse.’ she looked up at him, a small smile playing on her lips as she looked at his green eyes.
‘I missed you.’ Loki confessed. ‘It felt wrong not being around you.’
Ariella meant to only kiss his cheek, not near brave enough to do anymore, but as she leant up to do that, Loki became curious as to what she was doing and turned to look at her, meaning her small peck on the cheek resulted in her kissing his lips. She had barely done that when Loki’s hand came to her cheek and he pressed forward himself towards her.
*
Frigga rushed up the hallway, appalled and worried for all Ariella was forced to endure. When she got to the Healing Rooms, she made to enter when Eir grabbed her and pulled her back. ‘What…’ The healer placed her hand over Frigga’s mouth.
‘Shh, you have been going on about this since before you left so damn well give it a moment.’
‘What?’
Eir gently pressed open the door enough to show Frigga what was occurring inside. ‘This is terrible.’ She hissed when Eir closed the door again. ‘I owe Odin a back rub for this, he will never let me live it down that he wagered the Healing Rooms and was right.’ She sighed. But the smile on her lips would not be altered by her annoyance.

Across the Divide
TITLE: Across The Divide CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter Three AUTHOR: wolfpawn ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki sneaking out of the palace as a youth to see the city and countryside, while out one day, he accidentally gets in trouble for something, but a young girl deals with the situation, allowing him to be left alone and his true identity be kept secret. She is a poor girl who is only in the city to sell goods with her father, so she does not realise it is Loki, even though she sees his face. They form a friendship as she shows him around the city, and tells him the date she comes to the city every month for a particular market. RATING: Teen and Up
Ariella stood at the door of her home, she thought at most, the bag was going to contain a piece of silver or two, at most, and a few bronzes, but it was all silver, she looked at them all, there was at least ten, but to her shame, she could not count any higher. She only knew to ten by fluke from listening to people. How could she ever explain that to her father and mother how he ever came to possess them. She thought of how he had acted in front of Fandral, she was embarrassed, certain the young high-born would never want to see her again because of his behaviour.
"Where are you?" She turned around and closed the door, both of her parents glaring at her. "Get your head out of the clouds girl."
"Sorry, mother." She looked to the floor.
"What is this about you and some boy?"
"I met him in the market, we just were talking while waiting for our parents to be done." She explained though she had a smile on her face.
"What else did you do other than talking?"
"We went for a walk, talked about what sorts of things interest us, that sort of thing." She shrugged.
"If you dare even consider raising your skirt for him." Her mother threatened, fear in her eyes. "We cannot afford to keep you if anything happens."
"I would never…" Ariella's eyes widened and her face reddened.
"Every young girl says that, but none truly mean it." Her mother stated.
"He is better off than us, though he has graces he should not possess." her father commented.
"Meaning they would not want some little tramp with a brat to dampen his ideas of grandeur either so no going near him again." Her mother warned.
Ariella bit back the tears of hurt and nodded slightly before going to her 'bed' in the corner of the room. She knew she would have to be more careful the next time she met her friend, though thankfully, her father, in his state, had not realised that the mouse-brown haired boy with startling green eyes was actually some high-born in disguise. She smiled happily as she recalled their time talking at the water's edge and how he had altered her name to Ari, a sign that he was really her friend. Realising she was being spoken to, Ariella looked around at her parents, who both seemed horrified as they looked at her. "Sorry?"
"Oh Norn's, her expression," Her mother stated terrified. "Do you realise Ariella, your only hope of getting a man with a means to keep you is to be seen as anyway worthwhile, tramps with illegitimate children as young as you are will never be seen as a covetable partner." Her mother explained. "It is your only hope."
Ariella's face fell as she realised the desperation, not only in her mothers but in her father's too. They wanted her to do better, live better. But as the situation worsened for low paid commoners, she knew that no matter what, it would never get better. She liked Fandral, but she was not a fool, he would marry a girl from a good family, they would have well reared and educated children, while she would be lucky if she would ever get to put shoes on hers.
"I know mother, I want that."
"Then forget about city boys with graces and behave." Her mother's anger dissolved at the clear honesty in her daughter's face.
"Yes, mother."
*
Loki looked over the city, he had thought more of everything Ariella had and of what he had seen in his time with her almost daily since their last meeting. Asgard, the glorious shining light of the realms, was not made of gold, simply gold plating. People were starving, uneducated and being made homeless. His father, the supposed great and just Odin, King of Asgard, Allfather, Protector of the Realms, was allowing the people of his city live lives of misery. He thought of Ariella's brother, had he died in the collapse, had he held on hoping that help was coming, only to never receive that help. He knew it would have been difficult, but with the right tools and mages, it could have been done, they could have been recovered. Four hundred men, the number seemed almost unfathomable. Feeling angered, he stormed off, only to meet his brother two hallways later with his friends.
"Where are you going?" Thor asked curiously, noting Loki's mood and determination.
"To talk to father." He responded as he passed them.
That response caused Thor and his friends to cease walking and stare at him, Loki rarely sought time with Odin. "Whatever for?"
"A mine collapse."
"A what?"
Loki sighed. "A mine, a place that ores are extracted from below the surface, it tends to be ores of value, we have several of them here, I want to ask him about one that collapsed last year."
"I do not recall hearing anything about it." Thor mentally scanned the many days that he had been in the court with his father, not recalling such an event for that would surely have resounded in him had it occurred.
"Well, I would not expect you to recall such a thing you can hardly recall what you had for dinner last night." Loki growled. "I found out one happened last year, four hundred were killed."
Thor laughed. "Loki, do you honestly think that if such a tragic event had occurred, Father would have said nothing on it. He would have gone there, you and I would have had to go with him, we have not left the palace in two years."
"I am aware, this place does get boring after the first three hours," Loki growled. "But it happened, I want to know why he did not say anything of it."
Thor eyed his friends for a moment, they all seemed to think Loki somewhat mad. "I wish to go and watch the Einherjar train, but honestly, I want to see what father says to this." He admitted as he walked up to Loki. "I saw him and General Tyr talking not an hour ago, so he will be in his private meeting room now recovering."
Loki did not wish for his idiot brother's company, but he needed to know what was going on, so he ignored him, and indeed his friends and continued on his journey.
Odin stared at his younger son in silence for over a minute after Loki spoke. He looked to his older son, who seemed to only be there to gauge his reaction before he spoke to Loki. "Where did you hear this?"
"Some servant mentioned to another as they walked down the hallways that a sister of theirs was made a widow by it. I heard them speaking as I sat reading in an alcove." Loki knew Odin would ask such a question and had readied himself for it. He thought it a good cover, also his father had told him before to cease sitting in nooks for hours on end, it made it near impossible to find him if needed, that added to the believability of the story also.
"A year ago you say?"
"Yes, father."
"And what mine?"
"They never said, only that it was on the far side of the forests," Loki stated. "I thought you would know."
"I was never informed of such a thing." Odin seemed somewhat irked that his son may have been privy to such information before him. "Hogun, Volstagg," The two youths stepped forward, having followed Loki and Thor to the Allfather, "Get Lord Ivan, I have it on good authority that he is in the dining hall, have him come here at once."
"Yes, Allfather." they bowed in unison and rushed off.
"Young Fandral, I need you to go to the head of the Einherjar, you know where his barracks are?" The blonde nodded. "Tell him to get here, but only after he sends a message to the soldiers, the word is Finaer, understood?"
"Yes, Allfather." And with that, Fandral left.
"Father?" Thor asked worriedly. "You do not honestly think something this big was not reported, do you?"
"There is only one way to find out." Odin growled before looking to Loki, "If you are lying…"
"Honestly, father, I am not. I swear it on mother."
Odin nodded solemnly at that. Loki was renowned for being a trickster, but one mention of Frigga, and whatever he was saying needed to be believed, he did not reference her unless he had conviction in his words. "I truly hope you are wrong."
"Father?" Thor asked.
"To lose so many men," He shook his head. "I hope Loki heard wrong, because if he did, we have to try and explain how we were not there; if the people have suffered such a loss and we have not been seen to care, that can only lead to unrest and rightly so. It is our duty to be there for them, to help them, if this is true, we have failed them."
Thor nodded while Loki thought over his father's words. They had been failing these people for far longer than a year, he just needed to get his father to realise that without outing his secret time in the city, and Ariella, his friend. Loki thought about it for a moment. Ariella was his only friend that was actually his, not Thors. He smiled at the thought, as she was far nicer than any of Thor's friends, his friend, his Ari.
*
Lord Ivan stood in front of the Allfather, looking somewhat uneasy as Odin relayed what Loki had said to them. "So, is there any truth in this claim?" Odin demanded.
"There was a collapse, I was informed, but it was nothing major, only a few issues, apparently easily dealt with." The Lord stated, his gaze flickering to Loki for the slightest moment, irate that the youth had stuck his nose in where it was not wanted.
Loki glared back, he could tell the other man was lying, and he noticed his disdain that Loki had found out about it. "A few issues? I heard hundreds were lost, that they remain lost." He declared.
"WHAT!" Odin rose to his feet, causing everyone in the room to jump and cower. "What did you just say?" he stared at his younger son.
"The servant, he said his sister never as able to allow her husband funeral rites, that he is there still, in the collapse."
"What servant was this that spread such lies?" Lord Ivan demanded.
"A servant, there are hundreds here, I do not know him to see. But if we lost four hundred of our servants, we would know." He looked the Lord in the eye.
"Barbrin?"
"Allfather?" The head of the Einherjar stepped forward.
"Have Heimdall brought here this instant."
"Yes, Allfather."
"If any can tell us what has happened, the All-seeing Guardian can," was all Odin stated, but even he noticed the Lord look anxiously at him.
Loki swallowed hard, Heimdall could easily reveal everything to Odin, but as he thought of how terrible it would be to never see Ariella again, he also thought of how she and her family may get what they deserved. If they got that, his punishment, however bad his father would make it, would be worth it.
Heimdall was second only to Odin in commanding a room, Loki came to realise as the golden clad God stood in front of them. "You have called me from my post, Allfather. It has been a hundred and eighty years since you last have done so, what can I assist you with?"
"The lands beyond the forests to the East, what occurred there?"
"Of late, nothing my King." Odin glared at Loki. "However, last year, there was a terrible tragedy."
"A mine collapse?"
"Yes, all were lost. I counted four hundred and seventeen men, all went in, none ever came out. Their souls do not light the realms anymore, all have passed in their time down there." the guardian stated solemnly.
"Ivan?" The king looked to the Lord. "What have you to say?"
"I was told it was only a small collapse." He stated fearfully.
"May I suggest something, you Majesty." Odin looked at Heimdall and nodded. "Prince Loki was in the presence of those who spoke of this matter for some time, perhaps he heard more."
Odin looked at his son. "Well?"
"It wasn't all about the collapse, but they said the hours were too long, the men too tired, the scaffolds not secured correctly," Loki stated. "What's a scaffold?" he queried, playing innocent.
"A means of preventing a collapse, beams are used to hold the ground above's weight so it does not fall," Odin informed him. The princes did not need to know such things, so it was not in their studies, but Odin had always instilled in them that if they had a question, they need only ask, he would always answer them. He then turned to Ivan, "What has been occurring in these regions without our knowledge Ivan?"
"I have no idea Allfather."
"Heimdall, did Ivan investigate the region?"
"No, sire."
"Father," Odin looked to Thor. "Perhaps we should investigate."
"I think it wise." the king agreed, "Ready a royal convoy." he ordered.
"Yes, Allfather." Barbrin stated before leaving the room to do just that.
"Are we coming?" Loki asked.
"You are too young."
"But father…"
Heimdall looked at the younger prince, his head moving ever so slightly in a shaking motion. Loki frowned, but a moment later, he realised that tomorrow was the country market, to go to where they were saying the mine was would mean he would not make the market, so he said no more, instead wondering why the guardian was saying nothing of his friendship with Ari, and how he had reminded Loki of their meeting.
