Before Matthew was born, Lacey Sharpe grew up on the streets of Los Angeles, from there she met a man that went by Frank Williams, who was in fact a drug dealer and a crackhead himself. When she realized this, Lacey couldn’t bare the thought of her son growing up in that life, so when she found out she was pregnant, she took off, never to be seen around Los Angeles again. She came across Santa Monica and thats when she met Jason Nelson.

Of course the two started dating, she explained everything to him and he agreed to marry her. Growing up in Santa Monica, Matthew Nelson is well known for being the step son of Jason Nelson, who was a war hero. His step father owned the Sunset Garage, so Matt grew up around cars and motorcycles along with a few of his best friends. When Matt turned thirteen years old, they finally told him who his real family was but that didn’t matter to him because Jason was the only father that he ever knew.

By the time that high school hit, he was in and out of the juvenile court system and his grades weren’t that good but he knew cars inside and out. At the age of seventeen he got his first motorcycle. At that point, Matthew had a mile long criminal record and reputation to go with it, but it didn’t seem to phase him at all. Even though he wasn’t smart with school, his mother wouldn’t let him drop out as much as he wanted, she just wouldn’t let him and whatever Lacey said went without question. Matthew graduated at the low of his class, he wasn’t book smart but he was street smart and everyone knew this. Knowing everything that he needed to know about repairing cars from experience.

During one of his runs with illegal parts he got ran off the road, crashing his bike of course he had go to the hospital and thats when he ran into Kelly. She fixed him up and he asked her out, to his surprise she agreed. They went on one date before he was arrested and sent to jail. Everyone went to jail for about four weeks, they served their time but Jason died in prison. Once he got out, he contacted Kelly again and explained what happened to his surprise she seemed okay and chill with it, Matthew started working on cars after he got the garage from his step father’s will when the man died.

Everything was going good, until he got trouble, he ended up going to jail once again but this time it was for having illegal parts in his warehouse. This time he got several months, Kelly ended sending him a letter, stating that she was leaving him and not to come looking for her. Naturally he honored her wishes but felt like he couldn't be in Santa Monica anymore especially when he got out of prison.

Making the decision at twenty years old, he packed up and moved to Virgin River. Opening up his own garage, because well he had the money to do so along with getting a home for himself, he also decided to open up a motorcycle charter in Virgin River, and becoming the leader of it. But this time he was going to do things right, do legal business, not just illegal. At the age of thirty five, he met Jessica Stevenson, the two became something serious quickly even if she was addicted to drugs, Matthew still loved her.

When she became pregnant, he did her best to get her off the drugs but he failed, she tried to kill their baby before he was even born by sticking a needle into her arm. When his son was born premature thanks to the drugs, Matthew knew that was the best day of his life even if he was thirty at the time, he felt like he had everything that he had ever wanted. Couple years went by and they tried to be a family, hell Jessica even announced that she was pregnant again. the pregnancy went easy enough and Jessica was actually off the drugs. Matt thought everything was going well even after his daughter was born. But he had been wrong, lJessica just left without so much as a goodbye, apart of him cared and the other didn’t.

Matthew made the decision to raise his son on his own, he swore not to do any serious relationships because he didn't want to hurt his son or have him get attached to someone that isn't going to stick around. So now he is just living his life, doing his best to try and stay out of trouble and raising his son and running his motorcycle club.

Born in Virgin River, California Arden was always surrounded by music. Her father John often kept a guitar close by, finding his voice early on in Arden’s life to provide her with the musical childhood that would mold her future. It was something to pass the time after a long day, the stress from the tireless work of building and managing clients in need of a proper defense. From the time her hands were large enough to play each chord she fell in love, her mind racing until she was able to focus on the symbols displayed on the sheets in front of her. She couldn’t help but allow it to take a front seat to her studies, music became the constant in her life while her father traveled in attempts to keep the cash flow consistent and pay off her mother's medical bills. Her mother was lost at an early age due to an aggressive form of spinal cancer, one where Arden was too young to remember, most of her days were occupied by her drum set and the neighbors next door. She met a boy named Axel when she was 17 and he wanted her in his band, this is when Arden realized she enjoyed sitting behind a drum kit and controlling the rhythm more than anything. His band took off during College, providing Ari with the desire to leave their hometown and tour around the country. Things started off great, seeming like it was plucked out of a Netflix romcom with their happy ending in reach. Axel changed, the fame and groupies caused him to nitpick every performance and blame every mistake on Arden rather than except responsibility. He would gaslight Em into thinking she was the problem, yelling at her to release his frustrations instead of dealing with them another way. One day things escalated, Arden caught him backstage with a girl who’d been following a few shows of their latest tour and he backed her into a corner, punching the wall beside her head. He wanted her to believe her actions caused his and Arden was stuck choosing between her passion and her mental health. She didn’t have to think about it for long, mid tour Axel decided to leave Ari behind in the dust by ultimately deciding to replace her and remove the female representation from his band completely. He said a manager wanted a different look for the band but it didn’t take long for the blonde to put all the pieces together — his girlfriend needed to disappear so "groupies" would fall at his feet. He needed to remove all possible competition from the stage so he’d look obtainable. It disgusted Arden beyond belief and caused the abrupt end to their relationship, but she couldn’t help but blame herself for went wrong on the flight back home. She needed a change and settled back into her hometown with a new career opportunity selling drinks to individuals that wanted to pour their souls. Since tour she was hesitant to play music again, but her desires wouldn’t let her put it down altogether; she found the perfect way to maintain some creativity with choosing the music that played throughout the bar. She’s been back in Virgin River full time for officially a year, determined to overcome her anxiety and put together a band that’ll help put some memories behind her or so she hopes.

The first, and ultimately only, child of an affluent young couple, Isaac was born and raised primarily in Beverly Hills, California. Being their only child, his parents doted on him, giving him just about anything and everything he could possibly want. This didn't mean, however, that he grew up spoiled. Unlike his father, his mother wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth so it was important to her that their son knew not only the worth of a dollar but the meaning of hard work.

Growing up, the home they shared was full of love and laughter, and for the first fourteen years of his life, everything was perfect. The day everything changed began as any other. Isaac had been feeling sick for about a week, barely eating or leaving his bed so when he was finally feeling better, his mother was more than happy to fulfill any breakfast request he had that morning. He had decided to ask for his favorite thing; chocolate chip pancakes, but after realizing they were out of chocolate chips, his mom decided to take a quick trip to the store with Isaac along for the ride. It was on the way there that everything changed. Their car was struck by a truck that blew through the light. While Isaac was injured but came out alive, his mother wasn't so lucky.

Following the passing of his mother, Isaac fell into a deep depression. He blamed himself for her death and though his father did not, he withdrew, burying himself in work to distract from the loss of his wife. In an instant, the warm and loving home he once knew was replaced by the shell of what once was. For months, Isaac struggled with the all-encompassing grief and guilt he felt over the death of his mother, and just a month or so shy of his fifteenth birthday, he decided he couldn't take it anymore.

It was a member of the staff that found him and after a short stay in the hospital followed by a stay in a psychiatric program, Isaac was sent to live with his grandparents from his mother's side in Virgin River per his grandmother's request. At first, Isaac was angry. he thought it was bullshit that his father would ship him off to the middle of nowhere, but with time, he realized it was the best decision for him. Though it took time and a lot of therapy, things started to get better for Isaac. While the guilt and pain he felt over his mother's passing never truly subsided, he made room for it, and in time, he slowly began to find joy in life again. He made friends and even grew to like Virgin River. Sure, it was boring as shit for a teenager, but he soon found that there was a sort of peace that could be found in the surrounding nature. That, and he met a girl.

The two of them began as nothing more than friends, but with time they developed feelings for one another. Before long, they were positively inseparable and nauseatingly in love. So, it really shouldn't have been all that surprising when the two sixteen-year-olds discovered that they were going to be parents. For two weeks, they grappled with what to do in secret before deciding that they would keep their baby and raise her together. Naturally, their families were less than thrilled. It didn't take long after that before everyone in town knew, because if there was one thing the people of Virgin River were incapable of doing, it was keeping a secret. For weeks, it was all people could talk about, but with time it faded. Sure, there was still the occasional resident that gave a judgmental look or passing remark, but after a couple more “scandals”, the excitement seemed to die down.

Before Isaac knew it, nine months had passed, and the two became the terrified parents of a healthy baby girl whom they named Violet Fern after his late mother. Then two weeks later, Isaac found himself a single parent after Violet's mother took off with nothing but a letter to say goodbye. He was heartbroken and angry, but in time he understood. After all, taking care of a baby was a lot for anyone, much less someone who was still a child themselves. With the help of his grandparents and a little help from the residents of Virgin River, Isaac raised his daughter as a single parent. Though it was hard, he managed to graduate high school and even went on to college all while balancing parenthood.

After graduating college, he began working as an English teacher at the local high school. Though he originally got into teaching because it was what his mother did for a living and it helped him keep a similar schedule to his daughter when she started school, he found that he loved the job. He enjoyed not only teaching but also helping students discover and explore their love of reading and writing. The years passed quickly and before he knew it his baby girl was a sixteen-year-old teenager.

During that time, not all that much changed. He was still working as a teacher at the high school and also began a prolific career as an author. Despite doing well for himself, he and Violet stayed living with his grandparents. At first, it was because he was still young and struggling to find that balance between work and parenthood, but by the time he felt confident enough to move to a place of his own, his grandfather passed. Not wanting to leave his elderly grandmother alone, he chose to stay living with her to help her when needed. Following her passing a year ago, Isaac had the choice to sell the house and move elsewhere but chose to not only keep their home but continue living there. A choice he occasionally questions when his late grandmother’s friend sends him on blind dates after she made them promise to help him find someone nice to settle down with. While he hates those dates, he continues to go on them for fear that his grandmother may haunt him if he doesn’t.

Additional tidbits:

As a child, Isaac dreamed of becoming a professional chef. His mother loved to cook and passed that love on to him. While he didn’t end up pursuing a career as a chef, he still loves to cook and bake for those he cares for. He’s very much a stress baker. Usually, those baked goods end up in his class for his students to enjoy, but if you’re friends with him, you’re guaranteed to be gifted baked goods as well.

While Isaac escaped the car wreck that took his mother’s life relatively unscathed, he did suffer severe hearing loss in his right ear. Because of this, he often wears a hearing aid to help, but even that doesn’t allow him to hear everything. Due to his hearing loss, he occasionally drifts to the right when he walks. He has improved this with time, but if he’s distracted while going somewhere, he will still drift slightly. It’s best to keep to his left when walking with him to avoid being bumped into.

Isaac was and continues to be an avid reader. More often than not he can be seen tucked away with a book, reading and scribbling notes in the margins during his free time.

As a teacher, Isaac cares deeply for his students. He does his best to make sure every student’s needs are being cared for. Whether that is something as simple as ensuring that they understand what they are being taught or being there to listen to whatever problems they have in or outside of school. In his class, he has everything from snacks or drinks to personal care items in case any of his students may not have access to those things at home.

Isaac is an incredibly compassionate and giving person. He often anonymously donates to charity and loves to volunteer whenever needed. He even goes as far as to force his father to donate to charities and organizations often, wanting nothing more than to do some good and make the world a better place. His therapist thinks this may have to do with the guilt he still feels over his mother's death, but he insists it doesn't. He just wants to make the world a better place for when he eventually does leave.

Despite essentially being a trust fund baby, Isaac doesn’t live his life lavishly. He still lives in his grandparents’ old home with his daughter and prefers to live a quiet and simple life.

· luckily, she still got to go down to los angeles for school, truly thriving in the big city. she absolutely loved it, why would anyone go back to virgin river???? sure, it was nice to come back for the holidays & breaks, but she always couldn't wait to go back.

· once graduation came, bailey had every intention of staying in the city, knowing she had to work as a legal assistant or complete an internship to earn her requirements to work. she was happy, she was in a relationship, there was no way she was going back. that was until her parents surprised her with a house and an internship, already set up.
