The Night Shift (Part Two)

I’m not going to lie to you guys, I kind of fell out of love with DNC for a minute. It was hard to find inspiration to write for it. But this holiday break and all of your kind words about it have made me excited to continue!

Chapter snippet below the cut :)

"Hey Moonbeam?" You glanced up at him.

"Hm?" Moon glanced down at you.

"How'd Emily end up deciding you were part cat?" You bent and picked up a stray candy wrapper. Silence. You looked up at Moon.

"...Secret." He crossed his arms. You grinned.

"Is it embarrassing?" You rocked on your heels.

"No," Moon grumbled, refusing to look at you. You gasped.

"It is!" You laughed, "well, I guess I'll just have to ask Emily the next time I- Moon launched from the stall and scuttled up to you. He grasped your shoulders, eyes wide.

"Do not."

"Whoa! Okay, okay," you laughed, pulling his hands from your shoulders. You winced subtly, rubbing at your still sore shoulder. Moon instantly drew his hands back.

"Oh no, did I hurt you?" His hands covered his frown, "I'm so sorry, I forgot-

"It's okay," you waved off his concerns, "it's just tender." You extended your hand for his, "ready to do patrol?" Moon looked at your hand. Then your face. You smiled, wiggling your fingers at him. He chuckled softly, taking your hand.

"Silly." He grinned at you.

"Not as silly as you." You squeezed his hand.

Episode 133 reaction

Episode 133 is out!

Kym and Lauren have a much-needed heart-to-heart following the events at the Mirage Opera House. Here’s a collection of our thoughts and reactions from the episode.

(spoilers ahead)

First off, the lighting in this episode is especially stunning. It continues from ep 132, with soft pinks in the sky basking both Lauren and Kym in a romantic, soft hue reminiscent of episode 85. So many panels here are screenshot-worthy.

Like, Lauren is so beautiful here. Nothing more to add.

Okay, lie. We have some thoughts on the Willow. To Lauren it’s a symbol: that Dylan didn’t die the night of ATST. That he’s still alive. But to us, the readers, it doubles as a symbol for Lauren’s hope throughout the series. Constantly facing threats, but alive, nonetheless.

And that ties in to how she’s afraid to ask Kieran about it. She’s afraid that will burn her willow down completely. She’d rather stay blind if it means she can cling to her hope. It’s a neat way of showing that hesitancy, instead of telling us once again.

We also got some more info on Snapdragon, through a flashback to the talk Dakistan and Lauren had back in 113. We find out that Dakan was purposefully left out of the vote that ended up leaving SD slaughtered and erased from memory, which brings up a lot of questions, but most of all why? It all makes Dakan seem more sus, in the end. Like they suspected he would cover for someone within SD.

Next up we get some Kym backstory reveal! We even get a partial panel of Daena! This is the most we’ve gotten of her past ever, and it only leaves us with more questions. Who exactly was she? What could have happened? How is it all connected? We got some theories that might drop tomorrow so stay tuned

We also get confirmation that Kym Knows™️ about Kieran. Unrelated but God she looks amazing here

She truly telling it like it is

Her dialogue in this part is so strong, she’s really giving Lauren a reality check, because yes, she cannot keep shouldering this all on her own. She needs all the help she can get, and Kym and Will are both there for her.

It’s selfish of Lauren to think she’s keeping them safe by keeping them blind, knowing how she herself wouldn’t stand the same treatment done to her. Kym is right, they’re all in danger.
