I can’t stop thinking about Eddie Dear y’all.
First off, the probable reason behind what had occurred to him is most likely due to him being scrapped/taken off the script of the show is just both saddening and dreadful on his part. Like he exists within the realm of the Neighborhood, but considering his absence throughout the recent update, aside from him giving the viewers a decoder + clips of him throughout the Home-warming ad compilation, its safe to say that Playfellow Workshop had most likely taken off him of the show, or at the very least, lessening the amount of screen time he receive (in this case being the ads/commercials).
And now onto the actual possible reason why Eddie Dear would be taken off script. Now thinking back to the fact that Eddie & Frank being a couple is canon, it’s also safe to say that because of their connection in the show — even though Playfellow Workshop attempts to have them be distant or lack any sort of significant interaction onscreen — Eddie & Frank’s relationship, or at least Eddie’s love for Frank, could certainly be the reason why the he was taken off script.
After all, if two male characters are shown to be gay for each other in a kids show from the 1970s, chances are Playfellow Workshop would rather scrap the homosexual (derogatory) mailman character than have Welcome Home be taken off the air entirely just because of said mailman character.
Furthermore, what’s more interesting and ironic about Eddie being a prominent character who became intensively aware of his situation is the fact that he first appears to be a character who could be considerably perceived as“insignificant” or “irrelevant.” Of course I don’t actually think he is, but from the way Playfellow Workshop and the Homewarming commercials are framed Eddie, it can be interpreted that Eddie is seen as a rather character of little relevance.
It is partially due to him being taken script, but it’s also the fact that his only thing going on for him is being the mailman for the neighborhood — as well as a bit of a comedic relief. Eddie said himself in the Homewarming video from the secret site — if I’m correct, he feels that nobody appreciates him enough for his work (though correct me if I’m wrong). And that since there’s no one there to ask him to deliver something, or call, or check up on him, he feels as though that — somewhere inside of him — he feels both left out and “irrelevant.”
His one role is to be the neighborhood delivery man, and without that, then what exactly would he be good for?
(this could further be emphasized when Sally told him that they made the deliveries for him to give him a day off — even though no one told him that, and chances are this is perhaps Sally trying to reassure him when in reality, he was just scripted out of Homewarming hence why no one came to talk to him. Getting lil off topic oops—).
Recircling back to the original topic, yada yada yada Eddie just being a mailman and besides that he views himself to be irrelevant so on and so forth.
One thing I would like to mention, relating to Eddie being the probable first of the group to become aware other than Wally, is that I find it surprising that Eddie Dear IS the probable first to become aware like Wally.
To tell y’all the truth, I didn’t think he would play such a significant role in the Narrative (and thus probably doomed by it too). I would have least thought Frank or Julie would have been next to become the more Self Aware.
But Eddie Dear? Our loveable, friendly, and reliable mailman — Eddie Dear? Suddenly depersonalizing right on the spot with a pea plate and becoming aware of both his sentience, the weirdness of his setting overall, and how he could hear Home’s heartbeat? How he knew that the moment he comes to this revelation of self-awareness, he can’t go back? That everything he has ever known is most probably not real and/or all a lie?
It just has me stopping for a second on why and how him, but after thinking about it furthermore, alongside reading analysis posts, it would make sense for him to be next on why he had become Aware.
And I can only assume that from here on out, things are bound to change. And I for one fear these colorful lil puppets — particularly Eddie in this case.
Lets just hope the existential dread doesn’t drive all of them over the edge.

Eddie pining in secret over Buck seems like a legitimate thing.
Tumblr media
There's subtext in many scenes that make me think Eddie has secretly pined over Buck to some extent. I also see more than one reason why Eddie might never act on all those warm feels he doesn't know what to do with. Just one of those reasons is that even if he has finally accepted that he himself has feelings for Buck, he simply doesn't see how Buck could ever reciprocate.
Why would Eddie think that? Eddie's understanding of Buck's sexual life is shaped by what he's heard. (And what he hasn't!)
Eddie was never around to hear Maddie's comments that imply her brother might like men the same way he likes women.
Maddie to Buck in 2x4: "So does this boy crush on Eddie mean that you're finally ready to move on from Abby?"
Maddie to Josh in 3x12: "Oh no, I like you too much to set you up with my brother." Unrelated to Maddie but still key: Eddie also missed TK's comment to Buck in the Lonestar crossover episode, where TK assumed Buck was either gay or bi and that Buck was hitting on him.....
2. Instead, Eddie was around to hear all about Buck's firehose exploits back in the days when he was a self-described "sex addict". Yes, Eddie knows about Buck 1.0.
In 3x12, When Chimney suggests Eddie try talking to a therapist name Rosie, Buck asks, "Is that the one I slept with?" Eddie responds, "You slept with your therapist?"
Most recently in 6x13 Eddie listens to Buck try to calculate all the women he's slept with.
Tumblr media
No one can convince me that the look on Eddie's face here is simply exasperation. He truly looks a little crestfallen, like Buck's words stung him.
It's just another reminder in Eddie's head that Buck is different from him when it comes to sex. Pair that with the head canon that Eddie is demisexual (everything in canon points to it, in my opinion!), and it's easy to see why Eddie would think he has zero chance with Buck. Buck once described himself as a sex addict. Eddie, on the other hand, got with Shannon in high school and hasn't ever been shown to go looking for any casual flings or want even a one-night stand. I don't think Eddie judges either lifestyle; he just recognizes they are very different. So, no matter what Eddie may have come to realize about his own feelings toward Buck, it's easy for him to think he could never be enough for Buck. And so Eddie pushes down those warm feelings, and he settles for whatever he can get with Buck. As long as Buck's in his and Christopher's life, that can be enough for Eddie. And that's still so sad to me, because it means that Eddie still isn't following his own heart.
It would be interesting for Eddie to be in earshot the next time Maddie makes a comment about a male date for Buck, though!

umm. pause. guys. guys. gay tommy has been canon this entire time. what the fuck. like. oh my god. no. like. okay. okay. so. 2x9 (hen begins), sal [deluca] is talking about his girlfriend dragging him to see twilight. he makes a homophobic joke about tommy being team jacob and tommy's like "i don't even know what that means." chimney says "he's insinuating that you're gay" and tommy blows deluca a kiss. fine. whatever. but THEN you skip to 2x12 (chimney begins), and—i stg it's a blink and you miss it moment—tommy and gerrard (racist captain) are having this conversation in the background
tommy: what about that burger place? gerrard: tommy i hate that place. hey wasn't your girlfriend supposed to come and cook us dinner? tommy: uhh. next tuesday. gerrard: promise? tommy: uhh. uh. yes. yeah. i will promise.
and it's like. number one, this sounds like a conversation they've had before. something to the tune of "hey, how come you never bring your girlfriend around" which i can't help but think was intentional considering the members of the old 118 were entirely familiar with deluca's girlfriend gina. but number two, no straight man who has a girlfriend sounds that unsure that they have a fucking girlfriend. it was very much giving "ah yes. this human lady that i love that most definitely exists. absolutely. also i like breasts." and it's just like. ok. what the fuck. like. i don't know if this was the plan all along. i don't think it was. i still maintain buck/eddie were supposed to go canon after the shooting and the powers that be got in the way. but. but. the idea that this canon queer character has been hiding in plain sight (subtext) is just. wild to me. like. i've always headcanoned tommy as gay, mostly because every character he plays seems fruity as hell. but bro. i don't think it's a headcanon anymore. and i don't think it ever has been. what the fuck.
there's also the idea that. like. so i've been watching the begins episodes again trying to figure out what, exactly, tommy's crime against the members of the 118 has been. like. he worked in a -phobic/-cist environment. he was definitely complicit in making hen/chimney feel like outsiders in their workplace yes yes all these things are true. but as far as i can tell, tommy has rarely ever actively been anything except spineless. deluca makes a homophobic joke? tommy laughs. gerrard makes a bunch of sexist and racist comments? tommy looks, but doesn't say anything to encourage (or discourage him). hen gives her monologue? he looks chagrined.
and his complicity would be absolutely shitty and inexcusable if he was just a cishet white man. no questions asked. but if — if — you view his behavior through the lens of the fact that tommy is queer himself? that tommy is, and always has been, a member of a marginalized community who felt it was easier and safer to assimilate than it was to be openly queer and have a target on his back? his behavior becomes a whole hell of a lot more understandable. yes, it's still shitty, but. there's a purpose behind it. and this idea is supported by the fact that, when gerrard leaves (flashing forward to bobby begins again), even before bobby gets there (because we always credit bobby with making the 118 the family it is today), like. the atmosphere is completely different. tommy and hen? are friendly with each other. chimney and tommy? also friendly with each other. which we also know because in 2x14 broken, he calls him up for help. which lends credibility to the idea that the problems tommy had (or thought he had) with henchim were not about them as people but more about whatever manufactured conservative boys club bullshit gerrard fostered.
and it's just like. motherfucker. bitch. what the hell. like. first of all, leave it to 9-1-1 to tell a story like this in the most subtle way possible. like if that was indeed the intended implication, i'm throwing my tv off a bridge immediately. but also. second of all. what is wrong with this show. they're crazy. i want to eat it like a loaf of bread. just shovel it in my mouth because the idea that tommy has been queer all along, that he wasn't brought back just to be a stopgap on buck's queer journey to eddie, but that he's been haunting the edges of the narrative like a gay ghost is sooo like. ohhh. okay. [throws up]. like????? okay. anyway. i'm going to be thinking about this the rest of the day.

Been writing quite a lot of WH fic in my spare time recently and I realised I've kinda accidentally created a consistent interpretation of how the neighbourhood would see Frank X Eddie (liking each other or being together but on the down-low):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be clear these aren't my theories on what's going on in the ARG, it's like... just in the world of the WH show itself, without getting deep into the horror and mystery elements, and therefore excluding facts like that in canon there's probably going to be homophobia themes to the story iirc. This is how I imagine it'd unfold if it just happened normally without whatever scariness is going on in Home as a factor.
Also I like playing around with lots of different ideas and dynamics and interpretations; this is just a bit of fun.
Transcripts (and a bunch of extra explanations/info) under the concealment charm! ⬇️
Sally:
Has no idea, because she's not paying attention to them.
Would be like "Cool. Now about MY NEXT PLAY!" if it was pointed out to her.
Unless she could make it into something dramatic.
(Extra: like if she thought of a way to basically make a performance out of it, I can imagine she'd do that. Eddie and Frank would both think she was being very strange.)
Poppy:
K N O W S
Possibly before even Eddie does, and trying to drop him hints.
Thinks they'd be wonderful together.
(Extra: She wouldn't think it was her place to say anything outright, especially because that could risk outing either of them, but she'd be like "Frank can be very protective of you, you know..." HINT HINT.)
Howdy:
Has a vague suspicion.
Doesn't think it's really his business.
DOES think they're cute together.
(Extra: it wouldn't really interest or concern him much so he wouldn't feel a need to offer input or say anything, but he would sometimes see them talking and be like 'lmao these bitches gay! good for them, good for them,' in his head.)
Wally:
Knows Eddie & Frank 'love each other' but is unclear on how this differs from how he loves all his neighbours.
Would be very happy for them if someone explained it to him.
(Extra: he wouldn't pick up on anything particularly special about them/their relationship, he just assumes that all his neighbours love each other because, in his opinion, what's not to love. He'd also likely be one of the first people either of them would feel comfortable telling.)
(Extra 2: also no-one would ever explain it to him properly. Eddie would get into embarrassed blethering and Frank wouldn't know what to say beyond that it's "just different," Barnaby would keep giving joke answers, Poppy and Howdy would just be like 🤷not my place, and Sally and Julie would keep telling him things that only made him more confused.)
Barnaby:
Would eventually pick up on it, and take great joy in teasing either of them.
Ultimately supportive, though.
(Extra: He'd greatly enjoy irritating Frank and making Eddie flustered in ways that meant nobody else but them knew what he was hinting at lol)
Julie:
#1 Frank X Eddie shipper.
She finds out because Frank talks to her about their feelings, and she's rooting for them from then on.
(Extra: she'd try to be Frank's wingman and just end up confusing and scaring Eddie and making Frank facepalm.)

Look, considering I've only gotten involved in Stranger Things after season four and therefore haven't been around the fans during other new season filming starts, but my brothers/sisters/nb in fandom what the honest fuck is going on right now?
I have been a part of other fandoms when new seasons started filming and the worst I'd seen was BBC Sherlock. And you lot are behaving worst then they did.
And Jesus fuck, that's a fucking low ass bar.
(Again I am ship and let ship, kinktomato, and headcanon free for all)
But this is just what I've seen in my small deliberately secluded corner of the internet so forgive me if I get some things wrong.
Ronance fans have turned on Steddie fans.
Steddie fans are trying to eat each other over who tops and who bottoms between two horny, barely out of their teens, men.
Eddie is confirmed dead.
Dustin is trying to become Eddie.
People want Will dead because Noah Schnapps said some stupid shit regarding genocide.
And Argyle isn't coming back.
I'm going to give you my feelings on these so buckle up lets go:
1- Steddie and Ronance fans have turned on each other. And I know this because I doom scroll through steddie tag. That Ronance fans think Steddie fans are delusional and that they're going down after season five airs and there will be more Ronance fans because they're perfect for each other.
Where to even begin on this? First, never tell a shipper that their ship is never going to be canon because they don't care. Just ask all the Destiel, johnlock, and merarthur fans. Steddie fans are just going to ignore all but the most salient parts of season 5 if Eddie doesn't come back and write AUs for the rest of their lives. You know, like they have since the last scene on the Piggyback faded to black?
Secondly, I don't think I've seen much Ronance without Steddie. Granted I only read Steddie, but it seems that the two ships are tied pretty heavily together. The fruity four comes to mind. So maybe it's that they're getting tired of being a side ship next to a massive one like Steddie. Who knows. But apparently they're bitter.
And I say that because they keep tagging their anti-Steddie posts as Steddie to make sure we see it. Honestly, I just block them and go about my day. But seriously, I've never understood people's need to be shitty like posting hate on the tag for that thing. If you don't like it, fine. Block and move on.
Thirdly. Lastly. Maybe. I don't like Ronance. I saw the charms when I first joined the fandom and it was cute. Until the more I read and I realized that most of the time they don't bring up that Jonathan is even a person let alone Nancy's current boyfriend. That most of the time Steve is written wildly out of character about not caring that they're a couple and that he just wants them to be happy. Like, one Jonathan is severely under used in the fics I've read. Like Will doesn't have an older brother anymore. It's all Steve or Eddie. Which considering how you like your flavor of queer for Eddie or Steve (gay/pan/bisexual) Will talking to them about being gay makes sense, but Jonathan showed us in the last season that he is going to protect Will no matter what. Then blip! in fanfics, he's gone.
And then the whole Steve being okay with Robin not only dating an ex-girlfriend of his, but the ex. The one he thought he was going to marry. The one he dreamed a whole fucking future on. That was still hurt by two fucking years later. You either think very lowly of Steve or you just don't care. Because if you think Robin and Steve are the same person/share the same braincell/ride or die for life, there is no way even if Nancy threw herself at Robin would she even consider it. (I can write a whole ass post just on this by the way, don't get me started.)
2- This is the most recent bullshittery due to a current event about Sub Eddie. This is the worst discourse in any fandom and the worst offenders on either side tend say the most homophobic shit imaginable.
And it's pointless. Whether you think Steve is a top or bottom, whether you think he's dom or a sub. Same with Eddie. Everyone has their own flavor they prefer and they won't always match up with yours.
Personally I write them whatever feels natural for the story. But here's the major crux of the matter. I don't believe a little nerd in Bumfuck, Indiana has any idea what flagging is. I'm sorry. Left pocket, right pocket. Doesn't matter. The likely of him even knowing what BDSM is is pretty slim. I grew up in a small town. There will be some people that know, but that's because they know adults in the scene.
Don't like, don't read. Seriously, guys. Let people enjoy what they want to.
My personal feelings on the matter is that Steve is a bottom/sub because he deserves to be taken care of and Eddie would absolutely want to be that person for Steve, in and out of the bedroom. Again, you do you, beau.
3- The tombstone. Sigh. It was hard to see that. Not just because it confirms he's dead, but because it's been defaced. Most likely like fans have said, "BURN IN HELL" the poor bastard.
Having a tombstone doesn't necessarily preclude Eddie's return. There are several ways he can still comeback Kas! theory not withstanding. But the wank here is people jumping on Steddie shippers and Eddie fans in general pointing and screaming "see!"
Like we didn't have campaigns for Barb and Bob and (Billy). If someone's favorite character has died, don't be dicks when they want them to be resurrected a la Jim Hopper. Because that right there is the main reason people will still hold out hope until the final scene fades to black, okay?
I guess this one is just be nicer to each other, okay?
4- *sob* like holy fuck. Dustin you sweetheart. The long hair, the torn Hellfire t-shirt, the rings. The horns and sticking out his tongue. That poor boy needs several hugs STAT! And of course, people can't leave well enough alone on Facebook, I couldn't tell you how many of the comments were "steddie fans are going to make this all about them, aren't they?" Even though there wasn't a single comment by a Steddie making it about Steve/Eddie. But so many eye rolls. The other half were death threats against Noah Schnapp.
Which brings me to...
5- Noah Schnapp said some really shitty things about Zionism and the attack on Gaza. There is no escaping that. He said them. He double downed on them. And while yes it sucks he said those things, let's not forget he's still young and stupid. He's barely 18/19 years old. I remember being that age and saying stupid fucked up shit, and hoo boy does this make me grateful I was well into adulthood when the internet became a thing (24ish).
There are a lot of reasons to be upset by his comments and I get that. But death threats and calls for his dismissal/boycotts just seems excessive to me.
One, because the story began with a kidnapped little boy and a runaway little girl. If you get rid of one of them especially this close to the end it would fuck up the story. Now if there was more than one season left, sure. But this is literally the end. And for all we know, Will's character may already be doomed by the narrative. So calling for it now isn't go to do anything. Especially since they already had all the scripts written and would have finished filming if it hadn't been for the strikes.
Two, one person on the cast said something stupid and hurtful and you want to boycott the entire show for it? Like, what did David Harbor, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Millie Bobby Brown and all the others do to deserve you boycotting their show? If the last season tanks it could seriously hurt their careers, but hey Noah Schnapp said something bad, so fuck them?
I'm going to stop there, because this is another one I can go on and on about, but yeah. Don't hurt other people in your rush to vilify an 18 year old.
6- Eduardo Franco recently said that he didn't get a call so he didn't think he would be back. He was sure that ship had sailed.
Fans are upset, naturally. Argyle was a sweetheart and deserves better than to be cut from the story like that.
But thanks to the incident with David Harbor and Jim Hopper supposedly being dead, a lot of fans are saying he's only saying that because it's a "secret" he's coming back. Which would make sense for Eddie or any of the other character died. Martin Brenner, for example, but not Argyle. There would be no need for subterfuge. Plus, he would already be out in Georgia if he was coming back.
It's sad that he was done dirty this way, but if they split up the filming like they've done before there is still a chance he might get to come back, but as far as the current filming is concerned, yeah Argyle isn't coming back.
***
Just... be kind to each other. Remember that the other people on the end of the URL is an actual person with feelings. That people can like what they like so if they aren't hurting you, don't hurt them, okay?

You know I think I find this kind of thinking even worse than people who just never liked Buddie to begin with. People who claim to love Buddie or who were Buddie shippers and who are now trashing Buddie just to prop up Buck/T*mmy are literally some of the worst.
I think everyone should be allowed to like and ship who they want. I'm not a multishipper so I don't ship Buck and T*mmy and I'm not the biggest fan of T*mmy in general but I do see the significance of him in Buck's story.
What I don't get is how so many of you have become so enamored with a ship from very little buildup that you don't care anymore about how important Eddie coming out and Buddie becoming canon is. Also that you'd go back on all of your opinions on Buddie and the history they've shared.
The fact is Eddie coming out as gay is incredibly important. Just as Buck coming out as bi is ground breaking in it's own way and increasing much needed representation for bisexual characters, a character like Eddie coming out would also be ground breaking. Eddie is older, a veteran, Mexican, a single dad, struggles with mental health issues, a firefighter, fits a model of stereotypical masculinity, etc. There are so many people who would be helped to see a character like Eddie have a queer awakening in ways that are different than Buck's.
Buddie becoming canon is also equally as important as the coming out storylines for Buck and Eddie. I know people keep trying to say it's not and keep hating on anyone who dares to talk about Buddie along with Buck's bi awakening but it all matters.
It's not that Buddie has to happen for Buck and or Eddie to be queer but it should. I could write a novel on the history that is shared between these men. They are so much more than just friends honestly not sure how anyone can even see them that way. If you compare them to any other friendship on the show there is so much more there. They also know one another and are there for one another in ways no one else is. Buddie already has this epic love story built up it's why so many of us are waiting for them to reach that next level of their relationship.
Buddie would also be groundbreaking in their own way if they make it a canon ship. We have never really had a slow burn queer romance especially not with two men figuring out their sexuality later in life like this and on a primetime show. It's also not just about Buck and Eddie it's about Christopher too. We've watched Buck and Eddie basically co-parenting together for six years. It would be so amazing and important to have Buck actually recognized as Chris' other dad.
I just don't get how you can watch these men loving and supporting and fighting for one another over six long years and then trash their relationship because one of them kissed someone else and call this new guy basically his soulmate. We don't even really know T*mmy or how a relationship with him and Buck might work out because they're not even in one they're just dating.
I don't get anyone who can't see how Buddie being canon could literally change how queer ships are written in the future. We deserve to have our ships written with the same passion and care as straight ships have been. Also don't say you love Buck and then say you want his endgame love to be some guy you don't even really know. He deserves an amazing love story like the other characters have had on the show. He deserves Eddie who has fought and screamed and chosen him time and time again. Who has literally made Buck Chris' other dad, even put it down legally in writing for all intents and purposes because that's how much Eddie trusts Buck and how much he means to him.
I know the show runners/writers don't let fandom stuff influence all the decisions they make but it has some sway because I fully believe our love for Buddie has helped push things to where they are now. It does seem there is a plan already in place for Buddie to be canon but things can always change in shows I mean Tim said he was still writing and filming episodes. All I know is if the more vocal Buck/T*mmy (endgame) shippers do anything to help derail Buddie happening I'll never forgive you. I'm sure I sound ridiculously dramatic here but this isn't just about me not getting to see a fictional ship. Buddie going canon and Eddie coming out mean so much more and I'm sorry some of you can't see that.

Things in Stranger Things season 4 (Volume 2) which did not make sense, were forgotten or simply pissed me off.
❗️Spoilers obviously❗️
The whole town was convinced that there was a cult going on and people got up looking for Eddie and seemingly the rest of Hellfire Club because they were convinced it was a cult. Did they just give up? They never showed up again. Also the parents didn't bring this up at the end when everyone was reunited.
Why did Mike believe that the painting was for him and El when he clearly read the letter that said Will was painting it for someone he likes. Additionally, how the fuck did Mike not notice his supposed "best friend" sobbing in the car right next to him? You can clearly see him look in Will's direction but he just doesn't do anything.
Is the police just... dead? Where are they? Why are they not actively going after Jason's crew
Where is Owen? Is he alive? Why did he say that he could get El back in Hawkins in 2 hours tops if the Cali crew said it would take all night to get back, was he gonna call a private jet or something??
Where is the military? They went to that lab and then were never heard of again.
When Nancy was Vecna'd, she was in the laboratory. Why???? She had nothing to do with that place. Why wasn't she robbed from facing her own fears and traumas at the start of volume 2? Also when she got stuck in front of those doors which were blocked off by planks, they were push doors. Why did she rip off all of those planks if she could've just pushed the door and crawled in between those planks. Maybe I'm getting something wrong here but that just seems like such a hard thing to miss while writing the script...
Why did only Jason and his buddy go to Lucas and Erica when he had a whole team? Were the other guys just watching tv?
Vecna survived being transported to another reality and being hit by lightening so much that his skin peeled off, but can't handle Steve and Robin throwing a molotov at him? Or a shotgun? Really?
Did they leave Eddie's body in the upside down? Why is nobody mourning him besides his uncle and Dustin? I thought Mike, Lucas, Steve, Nancy, Robin and even Erica cared.
So El can bring people back from the dead now? That's not telekinesis, that's Mary Sue magic. What's next? She can share her powers with anyone she wants and then they can make people fly with the jerk of a wrist?
We still don't know why the upside down is stuck on the moment Will was taken. With the way this was brought up in volume 1 it really seemed like this would be answered in volume 2. But of course not, because Will Byers just kept getting sidelined in every way possible.
How come it was leaked that 5 people would die in volume 2 but the only important characters who died were Brenner (papa) and Eddie. Max died but she was brought back to life because apparently Eleven can do that now. That's not 5 is it? Or did they count the people in that helicopter who were trying to shoot Eleven?
Were we supposed to care about Brenner's death???? With how the cemra kept focusing so much on him? I was glad to watch him go!!
The timeskip of 2 full days in the middle of the climax???? Wtf was that??????
Mike being a complete asshole to Will these past 2 seasons was just for no reason then? He is JUST an asshole??
Were Robin, Nancy and Steve just choking on those vines for like 15 minutes or was the time where Eleven struck Vecna actually a lot shorter than that?
They actually forgot Will's birthday, I hoped they were just joking but they really forgot. He was the only character with a canon birthday within the series (until they talked about Dustin's) but clearly they care so little about Will that his entire existence is forgotten.
Wasn't the upside down toxic? Why is everyone just fine inhaling the shit?
The queerbait. No, gay people didn't bait themselves. Netflix, the Duffers, and the actors were actively promoting Byler and hyping up Will's sexuality when in reality Byler is just doomed, not just as a romance but as friendship as well. And Will did not explicitly come out to anyone. People are STILL in denial that he's gay and that's exactly why you make characters come out instead of keeping it "up to interpretation wink wink"
Will calling Mike the heart of their group yet Mike's the one who broke their party up the most.
Mike saying he instantly fell in love with Eleven when they met, as if he didn't tell her to shut up, go away and stop being weird back then.
Mike saying his life started on the day he met Eleven, the same day Will went missing, in his face. When Mike said before that the best thing he had ever done was befriend Will in kindergarten.
So did Vecna create the Mind Flayer or did it already exist? Cause if Vecna created it that's so goddamn lame and it adds no new mystery.
The continuous stereotypes and suffering/deaths of outcasts, poor people, queer people and people of color. One black character plays basketball and the other is a sassy one-liner. The brown guy is a funny weed man with barely to no relevancy to the plot. One lesbian gets a lazy background ship with a girl who is an exact copy of herself and the gay character is living in a painful unrequited love story and used as fuel for the main straight couple, without even being given a canon coming out scene. All this while the straight couples get together and have tons of moments together. Eddie who is poor, is seen as a cultist, dies and nobody besides 2 people mourn his death. Max, another poor character who had already lived through trauma and abuse, dies, gets brought back to life, is now comatose, probably crippled, and maybe permanently blind.
Will's endless suffering. He just can't ever be happy can he? Wtf is wrong with the writers...
Did the Russian crew just end up at Hoppers cabin like that in 2 days? No problems whatsoever? Wow that's convenient.
Hopper hugs Mike but not his new stepsons?
Not one, not two, but three jokes about Hopper once having been fat because he's lost weight in the prison.
Comments had some great additions and I came up with some more too so here's more:
Nobody showed up to Lucas' game when he had a very valid reason to want to play, and it was never brought up again. They all stood him up.
Eddie's death was so rushed and predictable. I saw it coming as soon as he said his whole "I'm a coward I run away I'm not a hero" speech. It's typical "I'm a coward so I'll die a hero" foreshadowing which is overused and just horrible. And in the end he didn't even save anyone, it was completely unnecessary. Eddie deserved to live.
Eleven not being able to win the final fight until she got validation from her boyfriend. Why was she not allowed to do this by herself?
The military watching the pizza van drive off and then do nothing about it? I thought they were experts at tracing and tracking, but nope, they just gave up after Eleven escaped the underground lab.
Just the Cali crew being sidelined so much when they once were such interesting characters (besides Argyle)
Steve saying he always loved Nancy and never moved on despite him telling Robin in season 3 that he didn't like her anymore. Let Steve move on and stop having Nancy jump from boy to boy, hurting them both in the process.
Just a nitpick but the sound design was so overly dramatic at times? Like Brenner LITERALLY snapped a pencil and the sound design was like ☄️💥🔥
Tell me what I missed cause I'd love to add it on this shit list.

My current obsession for Steve having his sexuality crisis in canon doesn’t involve the Robin speech. I love Robin, I am Robin, but she deserves rest, god dammit. And I have come up with a great way for her to get her rest and to be a supportive friend.
————————-
Steve and her are having movie night (is this post Eddie, is this pre Eddie, doesn’t really matter but because I love steddie I am doing post Eddie) and Steve got to pick so they’re watching Grease.
Robin hates Grease, even if the music is fun, she just finds it tacky and cliche. She won’t deny the appeal of Sandy’s leather outift at the end though.
Steve loves Grease. The music is fun and since he met Robin she’s been slowly, and very subtly, pushing him to allow himself to enjoy things that his father forced him to hate. (Am I including my Steve likes make up headcanon in this? Absolutely.) She’s gone shopping with him and encouraged him to try on the sweaters in softer colors he always stares at but never touches. He starts growing out his hair. Robin has been a breath of fresh air since they met and she has always pushed him without making it obvious so he doesn’t panic.
The next opportunity for her brand of eye opening comes when they get to Greased Lightning. They’re both pretty tipsy and Steve randomly blurts out. “Wow he’s hot.” Robin actual chokes on her mouth full of popcorn and has to chug her beer to wash it down.
“I’m sorry, what?” Steve looks at Robin with a frown, raising an eyebrow.
“What? I said he was hot, because he is.”
“Steve that’s- since when do you notice attractive men?” He’s still frowning at her, as if she’s asking completely ridiculous questions
“I mean, always? It’s just something guys do, they can recognize when a guy is hot and whatever.” Robin just blinks, then blinks again before nodding to herself. She knows what she has to do, so she says okay and they go back to watching the movie.
The next time she’s at Steve’s she brings the magazine she had bought in Chicago a couple years ago. She had found this tiny store that sold a ton of gay media and it was like being in heaven. This particular magazine had a lot of quotes from people about their experiences growing up queer and she knows for a fact that there is one story in there that should shake something loose in Steve. So she leaves the magazine on his bed when she goes to steal a sweater from him. Robin hears nothing for two days after that when at 11:30 at night she hears the pinging of rocks at her window. Rolling her eyes, she gets up and opens the window, and then sure enough in pops Steve a moment later, clambering his way inside her bedroom.
“I think I might like guys. I um… actually, I think I might like Eddie? Which might be why I thought John Travolta was so hot suddenly, because sure I’ve thought he was good looking but not like crazy insane hot before. Then suddenly we’re watching Grease and Danny Zuko is all kinds of hot, and then I found this magazine, I think you left it at mine accidentally. But it had all these stories and there was this one guy who said he had always noticed attractive men growing up but he thought that was just what all guys thought, he liked girls so he wasn’t gay, but then he met a particular guy and they ended up kissing and he realized that he maybe liked boys more than he should and when he asked someone else about guys noticing attractive men they said that is not what straight guys do and he realized that he wasn’t straight at all. And then I started thinking because that’s how I’ve always felt, right? But I didn’t think I was gay, but apparently you can actually like both so I don’t have to be gay to like guys, and then I started thinking about Grease which made me think about Eddie and, oh god, Robin, I think I might be in love with him?”
She knew the magazine would help, but not this much. She also had never heard Steve speak so much at once, they had clearly been spending too much time together if he was rambling like that.
“Okay, Steve, take a deep breath. Are you coming out to me right now?” He stops his frantic pacing that he had started as soon as her window was shut, staring at her for a second before collapsing on the bed next to her.
“I think so? The magazine said bi-bicy-bisen-“
“Bisexual?” Steve snaps and points at her with a grin.
“Yeah, that! I didn’t know that was even a thing! It just… it feels like everything makes a little more sense to me, y’know?” She smiled, ruffling his hair.
“And the Eddie thing?” Robin cackles when Steve flushes bright red.
“Shut up! I actually think I might be in love with him and I don’t know what to do. Like, I know he’s gay but I don’t know if he likes me.”
“Steve, he has been flirting with you since you two met in March.”
“What?!??” She dissolves into giggles and they spend the night together, talking about every interaction he’s ever had with Eddie.
A week has barely gone by when Steve comes into work, his hair a mess, with a giant smile and his neck covered in bruises.
“I think I have a boyfriend.” Robin just collapses into a fit of laughter. She’s so glad the magazine trick worked because she’s never seen Steve this happy.

BISEXUAL BUCK IS CANON
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD! I'm losing my mind!!!! This is so fantastic!!!!!
Okay first of all, the summary for this episode was "Buck grows envious when Eddie starts hanging out with someone else" but LOOK OKAY Buck wasn't jealous because someone is with Eddie and he wants to be with Eddie. He's jealous because he LIKES TOMMY and it's Tommy that Eddie is hanging out all the time!! I LOVE IT!!!! HE WANTED TO GET TOMMY'S ATTENTION!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
I honestly really really like Buck and Tommy!!! (Finally a Buck ship I can get behind!) They're so cute!!!!
Tumblr media
And the promo for the next episode!! OMG!!! Buck and Tommy are going on their first date in the next episode (Bucks first date ever with a guy!) AND EDDIE ENDS UP AT THE RESTAURANT AT THE SAME TIME!?! He walks in like "oh my god hey you guys!!" Completely oblivious and Buck is just panicking.
Oh God I'm already in love with this whole story arc. I can't wait for him to go to Hen in a gay panic. I can't wait for Maddie to find out. For Bobby to find out!!

Oh, Edmundo, you enigma.
Edmundo Diaz's love life has left 911 viewers, or at least some, scratching their heads for six seasons.
If Buck and Natalia began seeing each other before Eddie even asked Marisol on a date, and it seems Buck and Natalia were not a long-term couple based on the Eddie's verbiage and snarkiness after Buck admits they broke up then just how long was Eddie dating Marisol before he asked that woman to move in?
Bobby called Buck out for finding himself in relationships without knowing how he got there. I think Bobby needs to give Eddie the same speech. Let's look at the history:
Shannon hits on him. He accepts. She gets pregnant. They marry. I am still not convinced Eddie was in love with her. I think he loved her in some way, but not that way. After they had Christopher, he loved her as the mother of his child. That's it.
He introduced Ana to Christopher quickly. Remember, she took care of Christopher during the blackout. So, we know Eddie has a history of pushing women into the role of partner/parent much too soon.
Marisol was helping him supervise Christopher's dates and being asked to move in within what may be a few months? Why? Based on canon, it is obvious Eddie knew next to nothing about Marisol other than she would babysit Christopher and when Christopher was away they could play.
We all talk about Buck's issues, but Eddie's romantic history puts the "fun" in dysfunctional.
Everything we know about Eddie's romantic history is one giant crimson flag. He has never pursued a woman for normal reasons, such as thinking she is pretty, liking her personality, or just plain attraction. The woman either pursued him or made it clear they were interested if he wanted them. (They were thirsty. Remember that parent-teacher conference with Ana?) Even before he met his blind dates he knew it wouldn't work out. How do you know the person isn't your type before you ever meet them? When he reached the point of moving from casual to focused with Ana and Marisol, he found a reason to run. Every time. He even admits he used the military to escape his wife and son.
Eddie's behavior is not that of the usual heterosexual, allosexual man in his teens, twenties, and thirties that you encounter. The man NEVER looks at women and he is surrounded by beautiful women. He only pays attention when a woman blatantly hits on him, or someone tells him he should be pursuing a woman. We've seen Chimney, Buck, and Bobby turn their heads for a woman and flirt, but never Eddie.
I think there are only a few possible reasons Eddie's behavior is odd.
He's demisexual. He only experiences true attraction once an emotional bond has been created. That may explain why his "attraction" to Shannon endured, even in the face of all of the evidence that they were terrible together. They were friends first. Personally, I think she was his comfort zone. He knew her and being with her would give Christopher the family he thought his son deserved.
He's asexual. I don't think that is the case. I think he enjoys intimacy, but getting to the point of genuine enjoyment and connection is not happening with the women he dates.
He's not into women but doesn't know or doesn't want to know. This is a very real possibility. Eddie may not realize being into men is an option. His background may have prevented it from being an option in the past. When you consider where he was raised, the doctrine of his faith back then, his career path, etc., being gay may never have been an option. So, he forced himself to find women he could make an attempt to build a life with, he actively repressed his real attraction, or he just didn't know he was into men. It would explain why he feels he is "performing" on dates with women and how he knew before the date they weren't his type.
Eddie is not the stable guy who has his stuff together. Eddie and Buck bonded because they are both messes. Buck is just open with how messed up he is. Eddie hides it.
(I have numerous allosexual, heterosexual male figures in my life and have had them in my life forever. Please believe me when I tell you I know more about how they behave and think than I ever wanted to. Sometimes, when they were sharing way more than I wanted to hear, I was hoping the neuralizer from MIB would suddenly become real.)

To the skeptics who doubt that we could get canon Buddie/Dickl(e)y as early as 7x07:
I'll just say that Marisol and Tommy are about to see Buck and Eddie in a dating atmosphere and the next episode will likely be Tommy seeing them at a bachelour party and maybe he sees things for what they are. The pieces are there. I was telling a friend this and she asked wouldn't they want to establish Eddie as bi first. Here's more or less my exact response: I'm not convinced he is. Remember how gay the Ana/A(h)na (it never not make me laugh that they all mispronounced her name the whole time ... serves her right for calling him Edmundo) break up was. Repressed homosexuality is real and Eddie Diaz is giving it. To me, Ryan has always played Eddie as even more consistently queer than Oliver has played Buck, and bi Buck is now canon.
Bonus reminder for the nth time:
This is how they look at some point in that episode:

💫—💫—💫
As the rain drummed relentlessly against the windshield, Jim Hopper steered his truck down the empty streets of Hawkins. It was dark out and he was annoyed that this was his second time this week busting the Munson kid. The silence inside the vehicle was thick, weighed down by the tension simmering between the two passengers. His face etched with a mixture of fear and defiance, Eddie Munson sat stiffly in the front seat. “You know how damn lucky you are I’m only letting you off with a warning?” Hopper grumbles.
Hopper's gaze flickered to the side as he spotted a familiar figure trudging along the sidewalk, shoulders hunched against the downpour. He slowed down his truck next to him and the man halted. He rolled down his window as he looked at him, and his heart dropped when he took in the other appearance. Jim had recognized him from the get-go, it was Steve Harrington. He had blood soaking through his shirt and blood, cuts, and bruises blemishing his face. “Harrington? That you? Shit, kid—what the hell are you doing out right now? You need a ride?” Jim called out. Steve Harrington, his usually immaculate hair plastered to his forehead, was beaten to shit and looking defeated. Hopper slammed on the brakes and Steve turned, startled, his eyes widening in surprise and relief at the sight of the sheriff's truck.
“No...no, sir. ‘M fine.” Steve said, barely being heard through the rain. His words were slurred due to his busted bottom lips. Jim frowned. “Steve. Now I’m not asking, get in the truck.” Jim said gruffly.
Steve didn’t respond and just stared at him. “Steve. Get in the truck. I’ll take you home and—” Jim’s words die on his tongue when he sees him flinch at the mention of ‘home’. Jim wasn’t stupid. He knew the Harrington’s, hell, everyone knew the Harrington’s. More importantly, he knew that Richard Harrington was not one to be messed with due to his temper on him. He knew about all the parties Steve threw, his parents were gone so often that he could have them with ease. Jim could easily put two and two together, and if Steve’s wounds and the way he reacted meant what he thought they meant...” I’ll take you wherever you want. I’ll even take you to Joyce’s place or my cabin.”
“I—I’ll get your seats wet if I-“ The kid seemed so insistent on not getting help, and Jim couldn’t help but feel guilty about it. “Kid, I’m not asking you. We can stay here and do this back-and-forth thing all night, I’m not leaving you here,” Jim tells him. “Besides, the seats will dry, just get in. Munson, in the back,” he ordered, his tone not allowing any room for argument. Eddie complied as Steve hesitated for a moment, then climbed into the passenger seat, his movements sluggish and pained. Eddie glanced nervously between the two. He didn’t exactly understand what was happening, and he’s never learned when to keep his mouth shut so he asks, “Figures you’d be mixed up in some kind of trouble. Can’t stay out of trouble, can you, Harrington? I wonder if all that hairspray got to your head. So, who was it this time? Hagan again? Oh, or maybe Byers?” Jim gives him a look in the rearview mirror, “Munson. Not the time.” He says with a hint of a warning on the tip of his tongue. The tension in the air became harsh again as Hopper pulled back onto the road, the only sound being the steady drumming of rain against the roof of the truck. Hopper stole occasional glances at Steve, his expression unreadable. Steve stared blankly out the window, his mind a whirlwind of pain. It’s not long before Eddie speaks up again. “Okay, I can’t be the only one who’s curious, right? Steve Harrington, golden boy of high school who went around like he was hot shit, keeps getting his ass beat.” Eddie retorted, his tone laced with sarcasm. “Guess you’re not as tough as you thought, huh?”
Steve doesn’t make any comments, his hands in his lap balling up into fists. “It’s not what you think, Munson,” he muttered, his voice barely audible over the thumping of rain against the truck’s roof.
Eddie raised an eyebrow, shocked that he even knew his name. “Oh yeah? Enlighten me, Harrington . What’s your excuse this time?”
“ Munson . Drop it.” Jim gruffly said, looking back into the rearview mirror, but Eddie wasn’t about to let it go that easily. “Come on, spill it, Harrington. What, did you piss off the wrong person?”
Steve’s breath caught in his throat, and for a moment, he looked like he might lash out in anger. Eddie smirks at the thought of getting a rise out of Steve Harrington.
It’s Jim who speaks up for him. “Your pops—he the one putting his hands on you?” Jim knows he shouldn’t ask, but he’s a cop and he needs to know. Steve’s cold demeanor softens and for a second, Steve looks tired and scared. Like he’s been through this one too many times, like he spends most nights being hit and smacked around by his father. Steve hesitated, then nodded slowly. The smirk faded from Eddie’s face as he took in Steve’s words, a wave of guilt washing over him. Suddenly, he feels like the world’s biggest asshole ever. Guilt sat in his stomach like a boulder and he silently wished he could take back every mocking word he’d said. “Are you—“ Steve paused to clear his throat, “gonna tell anyone..?” Hopper shot Steve a sidelong glance, a hint of gruff affection in his gaze. “You know I have to. Your dad shouldn’t—he shouldn’t be hitting you.” Steve scoffs, looking out the window. “I’m 19, I can handle it.” He snapped, before wincing at the amount of pressure it must put on his injuries.
Something akin to anger boils in Jim’s gut. Was this what his dad was teaching him? That he was allowed to be beaten around just because he was legally an adult?
“Doesn’t matter if you’re not a child anymore, he shouldn’t hit you,” Jim replied.
“We’ll get this solved, okay? I’ll speak to your dad, probably bring him back to the station, and we’ll see where everything goes. You’ll be back home soon.”Jim tells him, hoping to sound reassuring. A humorless laugh erupts from Steve. “Yeah, good luck with that. My parents…they found out about some stuff and…I can’t go back there anymore. They don’t wanna see me.”
“ What ? Your parents kicked you out?” There was disbelief evident in Jim’s tone. Steve only nods as he shifts uncomfortably. “Where the hell was your mom when all this happened?” His voice was tinged with concern, and he saw how Steve’s jaw clenched in the corner of his eye.
“She…She was there,” he finally replied, his voice barely above a whisper. His knuckles were turning white with how hard he was clenching them. “She um…just stood there. Off to the side, um, crying.” Steve’s voice trembled with every word he said.
Jim’s expression hardened, a mixture of anger, disbelief, and disgust going through his head. Before he can say anything, Eddie speaks up. “And she didn’t..y’know, do anything to stop it?” His voice is filled with just as much disbelief.
Steve shakes his head, a small sniffle making its way out of him. “She never does.”
A heavy silence fell over the car as Jim and Eddie processed Steve’s frightening words. How many times has Steve’s dad beaten him to this extent?
Steve shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his gaze fixed on the dashboard as he must’ve realized how bad his words sounded.
"I mean... it's not like he does it all the time," Steve began, his voice hesitant. "And... I probably deserved it, you know? I've messed up plenty of times. I mean, I’m not the.. best son. I’m not the smartest, I’ve... I’ve only got my looks going for me."
Hopper's brow furrowed at Steve's words, his expression stern. "Deserved it? Steve, no one deserves to be treated like that, especially not by their father. Your mom is just as bad for not doing anything to stop it.”Steve's jaw tightened as he struggled to find a response. "But... but he's just trying to teach me a lesson, you know? Like, toughening me up…being a man and all that shit."
Hopper shook his head, his voice firm. "There's a difference between that and abuse, Steve. And what your dad did... that’s abuse. It's not okay." Steve shifts uncomfortably in his seat, trying to make himself appear smaller.
"Steve, let me ask you something. Would you ever lay a hand on one of the kids? Just any of your friends in general. Even Munson back there. Would you treat one of them how your dad treats you?" Steve's breath caught in his throat, immediately thinking of Dustin's geeky behavior, Lucas and Max's unwavering loyalty, Eleven's fierce determination, and Robin’s awkward yet unconditional love.
The thought of ever hurting them, even in anger, made his stomach churn. "No," Steve replied, his voice barely above a whisper and already sick just thinking about it. "I could never... I would never do that to them." Hopper nodded, his gaze steady. "Then why is it okay for your dad to do it to you? The man who is supposed to love you is putting his hands on you."
Steve swallowed hard, the weight of Hopper's words settling heavily in his chest. Eddie clears his throat nervously in the backseat.
"Um, Harring- Steve , man, uh, sorry you had to go through all that," Eddie said, stumbling over his words. "I mean, no one deserves to be treated like that. And uh, coming from a guy who has an asshole dad too, your dad's a real jerk, no offense.”
Steve's lips twitched in a faint smile at Eddie’s attempt to be comforting. “Thanks. You don’t have to say sorry, you didn’t do anything.”
Jim’s eyebrows furrow at Eddie’s sudden comment, but relaxes when he hears how honest Eddie sounds.
Jim really didn’t want to bring the mood down with his next question and he felt guilt settle in his stomach, but he had to ask since it was his duty as a police officer. “Steve. Your folks still at home?” He asks, trying to sound as gentle as he can.
Steve’s smile falters and he hesitates before answering. “Uh, no. They…they left a few hours after..um…they said I need to have all my shit packed by the time they get back.”
Jim sighs, “Okay. Okay, well..we’ll figure something out, okay?”
Just then, Eddie chimes in. "Hey, Steve," Eddie began tentatively, "you know, my place isn't too far from here. If you want, you can crash at my house tonight. It’s uh, nothing fancy, but you’d at least have some place to sleep in the meantime, right? My uncles out, won’t be home ‘til morning.”
Steve freezes up and Jim glances at Eddie through the rearview mirror. “Oh…that’s, I wouldn’t wanna..intrude or anything.”
Eddie shakes his head. “You wouldn’t be intruding, it’s all good man.”
Steve hesitates for a moment, thinking over the situation. It would be nice to have a place to stay just for a while. “Alright. Uh…thanks, Eddie. I really appreciate it.”
Jim is already pulling into Forest Hills so there’s not much time to debate anything. Before Eddie fully makes it out of the truck, Jim stops him.
“Take care of him. If you hurt him in the slightest I swear nobody will be able to find your body after. Keep an eye on him, got it?” Eddie pauses, a hint of fear on his face which makes Jim feel somewhat proud, before nodding and getting out.
In Eddie's dimly lit room, the sound of rain tapping against the window provided a steady rhythm as Eddie meticulously cleaned the cuts on Steve's face. Steve winced as the antiseptic stung but gritted his teeth and endured it.
"You know," Eddie began, his tone casual, "back in high school, you were a real piece of work, Harrington." Steve's brows furrowed as he shot Eddie a questioning look. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Eddie shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh, you know, strutting around like you owned the place, acting like you were too good for everyone else. The whole ' King Steve ' act."
Steve's jaw clenched slightly. “Yeah, but I..I’m sorry about all that. People change, y’know?”
Eddie continued working on Steve’s injuries. “Sure, people change. But jocks who go around giving the freaks swirlies, calling them queers, beating the shit out of them? Yeah, they never change.” Eddie chuckled, not paying attention to the way Steven’s brows furrowed and a look of hurt flashed in his eyes.
“Okay, I..I can’t, I’m done. Screw this and screw you, Eddie.” With that, Steve stood up abruptly, forcing himself out of Eddie’s grip and ready to leave.
“I just-I don’t understand. You were acting so nice in the car and when you were cleaning me up, and now you just…switched up on me! One second you’re nice, and the next you’re acting like a huge dick. I can understand why you hate me, but please for the love of God don’t pretend you fucking like me.” Steve’s eyes are filled to the brim with tears and Eddie can only watch as his bottom lip wobbles. He wipes angrily at his tears and then attempts to tug his shoes on.
Why can’t Eddie just shut up? He realizes how much of a jerk he was being and how he let his frustrations get to him. He frantically grasps Steve’s wrist to stop him from leaving. “I’m-sorry. That was…I’m an asshole. I just…you’ve changed, I’ve um…been a witness to that and I’ve still treated you like shit, and for that I’m..I’m sorry..I don’t even know why I…uh brought any of that up. I just-i’m just angry-or upset about the past and um..I’m sorry.” He tries to keep eye contact and tries to stop fidgeting with his hands, but he can’t seem to really stop.
Steve hasn’t just fully up and left yet, which Eddie takes as a good sign. He skeptically sits back down on the bed, obviously creating some distance between them.
“Um…can I?” Eddie hesitantly asks while gesturing to Steve’s injured face. Steve nods, not meeting his eyes.
Eddie eventually comes to the end of cleaning Steve’s wounds, and he sits back awkwardly, resting his palms on his lap. “Um…you’re all good now. Um,” He quickly tries to think of ways to fix things. “Y’know…despite everything, you’re um…still pretty cool. Uh…you’re a good person, really good. I mean, like the time you stopped Tommy from breaking Jeff’s-my friend-hand. Like, he was really going too far, and uh you..yeah. You’re like, a paladin or some shit.” Eddie’s cheeks flush as he stumbles over his words.
Steve raises an eyebrow, tilting his head. “Wait-a paladin? Like from that demons and monsters game?”
Eddie’s eyes widened in shock. There was no way in hell Steve Harrington actually knew what Dungeons and Dragons was. “Wait, hold on, wait- you , Steve Harrington, know what Dungeons and Dragons is?” Eddie asks, his eyes blown wide as he stares at Steve in astonishment.
Steve huffs out a laugh of amusement. “Yeah, uh..these little twerps that I babysit are like, in love with that dorky game. I have to sit through them talking about their little quests for hours.”
He still hasn’t gotten over the fact that Steve fucking Harrington knows what Dungeons and Dragons is, and now he apparently babysits?
“I-What? I-I’m sorry, I’m just trying to process all this. You know what D&D is, and you babysit?”
Steve chuckled, nodding. “Yeah, seriously. They’re middle schoolers and are absolute shitheads, but they’re good kids. They keep trying to rope me into playing their little nerd game with them and they said they have a..uh, character card? Or some shit for me already, but it just doesn’t seem like it’s for me. Not that it’s not cool or anything, but yeah.” He admitted with a smile, and with a look of fondness in his eyes he seemed as if he could talk about these kids for hours upon hours.
“Seriously, man, I’ve gotta get you in on one of my campaigns,” Eddie exclaimed, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. His body felt like it was fizzing up with overwhelming feelings of joy at the thought of just talking about his campaign that he’s spent day and night preparing for. “Let’s make a character sheet. I swear you’ll enjoy it, or you could just sit in as an NPC!”
Steve chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. “I’m not sure…I don’t wanna intrude or anything. And um…I’m not the best with uh..numbers and words and all that shit…”
“That’s cool, I’ll walk you through it man. Shit, this is so- oh my god , Steve Harrington is going to play in one of my campaigns, holy shit—“ Eddie couldn’t help the excitement from overflowing. His eyes sparkled as he made gestures while he spoke. When he finally does stop talking, he’s out of breath and he notices the smile on Steve’s face.
Their eyes meet and for a second, it feels like time stops. It feels as if Steve can see everything inside Eddie and it makes him feel slightly vulnerable. Steve leaned in a tad bit closer and Eddie’s breath hitched.
“You’re..you’re really cool, Eddie.” Eddie’s breath catches in his throat and he feels like his skin is on fire. Even with all the injuries littering Steve’s face, he still looked beautiful.
“I’m..Steve, I really hope I’m not reading this wrong. I mean, I’m sure you’ve heard the rumors about the town freak, I’m.. I’m queer, man.” Eddie told him, his voice barely above a whisper and trembling.
“You’re not. Reading this wrong, that is.” Steve replied, before closing the gap between them, pressing his lips gently against Eddie’s. It was a brief, tender kiss, filled with words that said something and nothing at all and a silent understanding. Everything is buzzing, his heart is thumping and Eddie honestly is prepared for Steve to shove him off or look at him with disgust, maybe even leave. Steve may be fine with him being a nerd, but he might draw the line at being into guys.
He hesitantly looks into Steve’s eyes and is surprised to see no repulsion or anger. Instead, his eyes were full of adoration, soft with affection.
Eddie feels relief wash over his body and he finally manages to stammer out, “You’re..you’re not mad or anything?”
Steve shakes his head, a hint of a smile teasing his lips. “I’m not. I…think I’ve been wanting to do that for a while? I’m-I’m not sure. I definitely liked it, um, kissing a guy-kissing you . So yeah, I’m not mad.” Steve’s small smile then falters and Eddie can sense that something’s wrong. Eddie hesitantly takes Steve’s hand in his own, giving it a gentle squeeze.
“What’s..what’s wrong?” Eddie asked softly.
Steve took a deep breath. “I..the reason um…the reason my dad beat me was because he..uh…” Steve sniffles, wiping the tears swelling up in his eyes with haste. Eddie tucks some of his hair behind his ear, squeezing his hand again.
“I’ve known for a while that I..I like both genders. And um, I was experimenting and he…he found some queer porn mags in my room.” Eddie’s heart clenches at his words, and it reminds him of his own dad all too much.
“I..I tried to explain to him that I... I’m still me , I still like girls…but he wouldn’t listen and I-I was so scared, so fucking -I thought he was gonna kill me.” Without hesitation, Eddie pulled him into a tight embrace, holding him close as he whispered words of comfort.
“You’re okay now. I understand, you didn’t deserve any of that, Steve.” Eddie whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m..you can stay with me and my uncle while things get sorted out okay? You don’t have to go back there, you don’t have to experience that again.”
Steve buried his face into Eddie’s chest, his body shaking as sobs tore from his throat and he struggled for air, his body shaking with the force of his sobs.
This can be enough, for now. They’ll have to figure out the rest along the way but they at least knew that together, they could heal the wounds of their past with their hearts full of hope and possibilities.

Mostly random 911 thoughts about S7
Buddie won’t go canon this season but hinted at in closing episodes (like last 2)
^ (there’s only 4 eps left this season and Eddie needs his own ‘oh shit I’m gay’ arch) (also other reasons that will take up too much space)
Perhaps Maddie gets pregnant again
No I don’t have any idea where I got that from but it just feels right now I said it (maybe even next season if not now)
Bobby/Athena/maybe both start to think of retirement
Athena might go to desk job/less field activities
^ Bobby similarly but I mainly think he would flat out retire
Hen and Eddie have a moment together
Dumbass Buck, Eddie, Chim, Hen, Ravi moments through episode and Bobby just sighs and looks at neighboring Captain and goes “sorry I forgot to give the kids enrichment time earlier” (LET THEM BE THE DUMMIES WE KNOW THE 118 TO BE)
Chimney and Maddie get into a nasty ass fight but then turn out ok after a few episodes (maybe less - but they definitely fight)
May comes to see Bobby for x reason and Ravi is smitten (plz I think they would be cute)
Christopher runs away again and Buck freaks out this time
(This would cause many tears for everyone)
(Funny if Chris didn’t actually run away - just forgot to tell everyone he was hanging out with a friend)
Major natural disaster
Another car accident but off duty - they don’t find 118 member and only realize when they remember that’s the road said member takes to get home and they haven’t gotten home yet (bonus points if it’s Hen)
One of the main *stares at someone whose name rhymes with tuck* gets evicted and needs to move out of their overly expensive California home
Albert
Just Albert strutting in frame, shirt off, sweaty, huffin and puffin- I mean
Jee-Yun starting elementary school/preK and maddiechim SOBBING as Jee has the time of her LIFE (Uncle Buck picks her up bc the two are such messes and forgot to)

My theory is that Eddie is going to be written as an ever straighter man in 7x05. Based on the leaks (however true they are), it seems like I’m going to be right, but I was thinking all of this before the leaks came out. I won’t say what they are, only the things I’ve been thinking for weeks or things that can be easily assumed based on writing and plot. (Also please don’t send me more spoilers, I want to have some surprise)
In s7 so far, Eddie has been seen as a guy who married a woman. I thought the line “you mean slept with,” was weirdly included to show that Eddie likes to sleep with women. Also he enjoys cars, martial arts, going to the bar, and basketball. Can queer men like these things? Of course, Tommy does, Buck does (mostly), but the point is that they’re seen as stereotypically straight-man stuff, which is why it’s more shocking that Tommy and Buck are queer. They’re giving Eddie more traits to make him ever more masculine. They mention his girlfriend a lot and show them standing pressed-up against each other.
We all know that Buck is going to come out to Eddie in his loft. I can 100% see them having Eddie being the very supportive straight best friend to Buck, because I think the show wants that dynamic of “queer man and best friend face no awkwardness, just support and love.” To show the audience that two men, even one who’s bi can still have a close best friendship with another man without it going romantic.
Oliver and Tim both said things along the lines of the crush not being on Eddie, no plans for buddie right now. Ryan said (around the time of shooting this episode) they’re going to be closer than ever, which I assumed weeks ago was that Eddie is going to call Buck brother in that loft scene. Closer than ever? They haven’t recently defined their relationship at all, so being referred to as brothers would definitely fit that mark. This also would create deniability for the writers not making buddie canon, because “they’re brothers.” Oliver also said “if one character realizing his bisexuality” and I know he was talking specifically about people’s reactions to Buck, but the singularity of it made me instantly think that he’s the only one exploring his sexuality this season.
Next, we know Eddie and Marisol have a sexy time moment in this next episode because the actress posted a picture. Easiest way for the audience to see Eddie as a straight man? Have sex with a woman. “But Buck had lots of sex with women and he’s bi!” True. But you have to think of it as a general audience, mainly straight, viewer. Woman = not gay. Especially with what (according to leaks) seems like the plot will be more about Eddie wanting sex than the other way around. We know he and Shannon had a good sex-life and that it’s implied that he and Ana hooked up at least once if not more. He’s no Buck 1.0, but when it comes to Eddie’s sex-life, the writers aren’t shying away from him being seen as a manly man.
In the promo we see him and Marisol at the restaurant and the one thing I noticed first was the fact that Edy’s shirt is low cut and her push-up bra is truly doing the most. Like half of her boobs are just totally out. Wardrobe dressed her to look all sexy (they very likely provided the bra too), to show that Eddie is a typical dude-bro with a hot female girlfriend. In an episode that Ryan mentioned included something about intimacy, and from what I know of the leaks, it’s really digging into the fact that men have sex with women and it’s all the show that Eddie is here for that.
If buddie ever goes canon, the earliest I can imagine things even starting on Eddie’s side would be season 8. I think Marisol is here to stay until further notice, which makes me sick, but I’m theorizing that the “looks at their relationship closer” thing will be him asking her to move in, because that’s the only thing it can be. From what we’ve seen and heard, their relationship is going good, and even though these writers have lost the plot (literally and metaphorically), because it’s been less than 5 months of dating and they’re still getting to know each other, they think that seems like the next step in their relationship. It once again will highlight the way they want Eddie to be seen as a macho guy. I know so many people are thinking that the writers are just putting Eddie through this relationship to show that he’s a repressed queer man, but i don’t agree. I mean, yeah he could been repressed, but I don’t think that’s why the writers are doing what they’re doing. I think we’re trying to find something that they’re not giving us, because what they’re giving us just feels so wrong with everything else we know about Eddie so far and where his story was leading to in s6.
Plot wise, buddie still made the most sense. Past tense. The end of season 6 really fucked with things to the point where had they gotten rid of both girlfriends, it would’ve been fine, but it still feels like Buck and Eddie are too separate right now for it to go romantic as it is right now. But as for partners, yeah, Buck and Eddie will always make the most sense for each other in theory. In practice though, the show does have to worry about ratings and hopefully the reactions to Buck show them that they don’t have to worry about it negatively affecting the show, but I just really don’t think that they’ll have Eddie be anything other than straight because they’ll lose fans that way. Granted it’s homophobic fans, and they’ll gain more queer fans, but when you think about the business side, the numbers would jump too much. I love how much we all love watching 911, but people watching through pirated links, illegal streaming sites, tumblr gifs, TikTok’s, and uploaded google files, while they are obvi massive fans, aren’t considered in the viewership counts. The show may gain a huge influx of viewers if Buddie happens, but the numbers they’re looking at aren’t tumblr users, they’re people watching on Hulu and live TV. Which tends to be people in older demographics, people they risk losing if they have the other “hot straight firefighter” “go gay.”
This isn’t to be negative. I love buddie. I love BuckTommy right now too. I’ll be so sad when Tommy leaves. I’m just trying to be realistic because I can see so many people getting their hopes up, and not just in a fun shipping way, but in a real way where they’re confident buddie is going to happen this season. I’m so scared for the show and everyone’s heartbreak when it doesn’t happen.

Just curious and i like hearing your thoughts on this stuff. May i ask what aspect of steddie fanon you're referring to (which don't fit IRL queer culture so accurately)?
Ahaha...okay so. IMPORTANT NOTE: fandom is not that crucial, do whatever you want, run free through daisy fields of whatever headcanons and characterizations you please. Also, fic is not real life and that's okay!!
That being said, fandom can get slightly weird about sex, especially queer sexual cultures and especially historical queer sexual cultures. I mean, I get it! Our current hegemonic understanding of sexuality is actually pretty recent; I studied sexuality from a sociological perspective as part of my undergrad degree, focusing on moral panics (gosh I wonder why Eddie's character arc appeals to me! so mysterious!), and I know just enough to know that I don't know shit. So I certainly don't expect anyone to be doing paradigm-shifting sociohistorical research for a fic. That would be ridiculous.
All of this is leading up to say that based on 1) the relayed experiences of queer mentors who were in the scene in the 80s 2) the secondary sources I’ve researched 3) personally having many gay male friends who love oversharing through the last ~15 years, I believe that if canon-compliant gay Eddie Munson is a virgin, it’s largely by choice.
I've seen it suggested that Eddie's poor academic performance and nerdy interests would be, essentially, a dick deterrent. And like...I enjoy Eddie’s weirdo loser vibe as much as the next fan. I fully support him not being in any way smooth or cool with boys. But even when I myself was in my late teens/early twenties, many of my closest friends were awkward nerdy twinks who absolutely managed to get laid every weekend because MSM* hookup culture is eternal.
And in the early 80s, when Eddie would’ve been in his late teens, MSM hookup culture was at its peak. AIDS still wasn’t being taken that seriously, and transmission etc. wasn’t really understood because…well, you know this story. It’s not a good story. Fuck Reagan.
In short, I really can’t emphasize enough how certain types of sexual contact were extremely available for men seeking sex with men. A pretty young thing like Eddie could have literally as much sex as he wanted. Nobody is asking him for a high school transcript or anything about his hobbies, they’re asking if he tops.
Now, would Eddie actually participate in the hookup culture of the time? That's a more complicated and speculative question, and not actually what you asked, but I'm going to talk about it briefly anyway.
In the 'yes' column: he has his own vehicle**, zero supervision, and a penchant for risky behavior.
In the 'no' column: the boy has at least three extremely involved hobbies eating up his spare time and energy; he's also a not-so-secret romantic.
Personally, I can see the pseudo-intimacy appealing to Eddie's tendency to keep people at arm's length, and I think it’s very plausible for him to be curious and experimental enough to want to explore a bit. I tend to land on 'tried it a few times, doesn't make a habit of it' in my backstories. I also tend to hint at the softer, friendlier side of hookup culture in my fics, just because I don’t often see it represented.
Of course it’s like any other scene, there are bad actors and generally shitty people/situations, and sometimes the MSM scene specifically can be a bit of a soul-draining meat market. (ETA, because I am not white and neither are the vast majority of my friends and I felt increasingly weird not mentioning it even though it's not relevant to Eddie's situation: the scene is often also super racist, among other things! But that's a whooole other complicated kettle of fish, and again, not relevant to Eddie's situation.)
But there’s also space for casual sex to be part of a friendly relationship, in a way that I don’t really see in hetero circles. It’s hard to explain. It’s one of those dynamics that basically never shows up in mainstream media at all, so I absolutely don’t blame fics that don’t show it either. It’s just one of those things.
This is a step to the left, but I recommend checking out Dykes To Watch Out For: it’s practically an anthropological document depicting dyke culture in the 80s, it’s often funny as hell, and it’s just a fantastically detailed and relatively accessible window into a particular way of life that doesn’t really exist anymore.
*MSM = men who have sex with men. It’s a sociological designation; not everyone in this category identifies as gay, bi, queer, etc. It may be useful to think about sexuality as having three distinct components: behavior, identity, and desire. The term “MSM” puts focus on the behavioral aspect, because it’s most relevant in this context.
**As someone who has experienced several other countries' driving cultures, I just want to emphasize to non-Americans how willing many Americans are to drive for multiple hours for basically any reason whatsoever.
