Upon seeing the 80s version of Legend Of The Galactic Heroes, I can firmly say all of you who come here to say you hate Die Neue These or think the original is the best, there's only one thing guiding your opinion...

It's called Nostalgia!

My good people...

The dialogue is clunky.

The pacing is all wrong.

The soundtrack ia at times overimposing on the dialogue.

Besides the "Heroes" main characters, most of the them are badly drawn.

It absolutely doesn't "follow faithfully the novels".

I understand that st that time it was what the animation was able to give us ... But if that doesn't make the point that Die Neue These is technically, paving wise and visually better for you, then yeah ... It's just fucking Nostalgia guiding your judgement.

It's still Two Cakes.

But Let's be honest...

Die Neue These is a Black Forest Cake.

Ginga Eiyu Densetsu is a carrot cake.

Still good. Not on the same level, though...

And you know what? It's normal. Times change, animation evolves. I'm sure the animator working Die Neue These would appreciate you people giving them the the recognition they deserve.

So just after episode 5 and 6 came out I made a post noting the apparent continuity error between Simon Petrikov first identifying himself as studying to be an antiquarian

But in all other cases as just being an antiquarian

Not because I was trying, like, to call-out a minor flub in the internal timeline of Simon's character - but because every in-universe explanation you can use to justify this discrepancy is just both plausibly in-character enough that I can buy it and absolutely hilarious.

Either Simon Petrikov has managed to finish his degree after the Curse of the Magic Crown had started to tear away at his sanity - or he's just causally smoothing over the details that he never finished his degree, cause like, who could ever fact-check him?

(Or my personal favorite, a combination of the two. Simon was powering through finishing his degree despite the Crown eating away at his sanity and his life falling apart and then like five days before he was done - the whole University blew up in thermo-nuclear-magical-Armageddon. So now he's like "screw it!! I did my goddam best, I'm giving myself a degree!!")

But, weeeelll, then the episode 'Jerry' came out and pretty undeniably established that Simon Petrikov does have a Phd.

Like, I don't think Simon is willing or capable of getting away with Academic Fraud in this pre-war university as he does in the Land of Ooo.

So... on one hand you can keep these same previous theories going if you just assume Simon is the kind of guy so reluctant to leave Academia he just keeps... collecting degrees, and 'studying to be an antiquarian' is Over-Achiever Nerd Code for 'going for my third doctorate' or something.

Or on the other hand you can go with something on a similar vain to the fandom's go-to explanation to the other Holly Jolly Secrets Discrepancy with later-establish Simon and Betty stuff

Was one of the first serious mental effects of the Magic Crown's Curse and Madness over Simon's mind is that it made him forget that he already graduated?

Was thinking it over that Callum giving up info/doing dark magic to save Rayla in 5x08 is indeed the equivalent of her leaving in Through the Moon (“As long as we love each other, as long as we protect each other” “I was trying to protect him” / “I knew I had to be strong alone” + Callum not telling her about what he did / “All that talk about how love makes you stronger, but the second that elf girl in pain, you completely lost yourself” “I have to be strong, no matter what, and if you said even one word to me, I wouldn’t - couldn’t be”).

And Rayla is still set up to be the one to save Callum from brainwashing/his imposed ‘destiny’ in S6, probably tying together her arc regarding sacrifice and her well, refusing to sacrifice Callum even for the good of the world. Which means also having to save her - from death, from Aaravos, and subsequently risking the world for her as well - is still on the goddamn fucking table I am Losing my mind

So you know how season 5, episode 1 is called The Crawl? Great, so I just imagine it being Eddie as a vampire crawling the hell out of the Upside Down and really getting into being a vampire. And then he bumps into Steve and Dustin and recognizes them. "I vill suck your blood!!" He yells at them with his arms out. And mind you, he is covered in blood and dirt.

Steve screams and jumps back as Dustin smiles, recognizing him suddenly. "Hey!"

"Hey?! That thing is a creature!" Steve yelps.

"Nah," Dustin brushes it off with a wave. "That things my third dad."

Steve gulps and Eddie hisses at him, revealing his dirty fangs. "I have returned from Transylvania!!" He made a dramatic movement with his hands.

Dustin smiles and motions at the vampire. "See? Eddie."

And Steve just stares at the creature and shrugs as Eddie hisses again. And that's all Steve needed to knock him out with his bat.

naur seriously can we talk about how allura was even like 'the lions were made to be piloted by you and you alone'referring to the fact they are the only five people in the entire multiverse to have pure quintessence corresponding to the colors oftheir lions....

if one paladin is MIA then that lion should be inactive, benched. you dont simply play musical chairs with the lions. if it waa that easy then ANYONE could be the paladins at ANY time and theres no reason for the human paladins to be there at all especially if they dont want to be. but no the human paladins are NEEDED or else keith and allura would have no problem with pidge leaving in the first two episodes. nor would they mind if lance went home. but they DO mind. they PREVENT pidge from leaving and they make lance believe going back to earth isnt an option at all--that it isnt even on their iternary.

So no. i refuse to acknowledge the lion switching as canon.

#i feel like i should also bring up my headcanon that altean markings correlate to quintessence colors.#this is why lance has PURE blue meanwhile coran has teal.#coincidentally coran also embodies characteristics of the green and blue lion (loyal compassionate curious eccentric)#so allura having PINk markings?#she aint the blue paladin.#i know that theory falls apart quickly when you look at alfor--the red paladin who has blue markings #but still #it also makes zero sense to have the only person who can create a wormhole and PILOT THE ENTIRE CASTLESHIP be #in a lion fighting a battle that they could die in any second--therefore stranding everyone who needs the castleship to escape #allura being the blue paladin would-in reality- lead directly to the galra winning the war.#it only takes five seconds to put her and blue out of commission. simply fire an ion canon or two directly at her and then the other #paladins + coran are stranded and completely helpless.#after that it would be a piece of cake for the galra to capture every single lion and their paladins.#from that point they could go into the castleship and go through any + all information about rebels #the coalition and the blades of marmora. all because allura wanted to be RVEN MORE in the spotlight than she already is #the rntire war against the galra would be irreparably destroyed. the galra wpuld win flat out to the point #that no amount of rebellion would even make a dent in their power.#meanwhile if they simply just stayed in their proper lions and fought without shiro (with allura still manning the castle)#they would take lots of blows and it would be very hard-but at least they would win.#voltron #rant

Hey, guys? Stop doing this. Authors are not going to acquiesce to demands like this. We're just going to shut you down. It only serves to show examples of what not to do.

If you really want to see a whole fic showing 03 Raphael as his soft insecure cuddly baby boy baby side, either pay us, or write it yourselves. Actually, just write it yourselves, I would miss deadline. I'm tired and in way too much pain to negotiate.

Also, taking bets on if this anonymous Guest is the same anon who threatened me on Tumblr over my essays on the Lead Pipe Incident. Because I didn't talk about Raph being so babygirl and Mikey being his bully, because I related Raph to bullies in my youth. And this particular fic here is a 2003 AU of my own 2012 AU. In which everyone goes through necessary therapeutic catharsis in ways canon never did. It's Alternate Universe Turtles all the way down.

(I even wrote my own crossover with 03 in my own 12 AU at my co-author's request which inspired her to write this fic. It was a neat circle. If that isn't commitment to the bit I don't know what is.)
