Rating the LU boys based on their spice tolerance

Twilight: 9/10, definitely has a good spice tolerance

Wind: 7/10, he can handle his spice tbh

Hyrule: 2/10, I feel like he's the white guy at the party who passes on the jalapeño poppers because they're too spicy (IM SORRY, IM RIGHT)

Four: 5/10, middle of the road spice tolerance, not good, not bad, could use some improvement tho

Sky: 1/10, but will eat spice. He tries and that's what matters

Time: 9/10, Twi gets his spice tolerance from him and Malon, no further comment

Warriors: 0/10, he just feels like a basic white boy that can't take spice to me, idk what else to say

Legend: 8/10, bullies the shit out of Wars for not having a spice tolerance

Wild: 10/10. We know this. Mans cooks pure fucking chili peppers in a pot and calls it a meal, and you're gonna tell me he doesn't have a spice tolerance??? Wrong.

i read @skyloftian-nutcase's wonderful lovely healthcare au last night instead of sleeping and it really got my brain rolling on a modern au. except im very bad at au's so rn its in the batter phase. unsure if there will ever be a cake. it will likely still be raw in the middle if there is XD

current ideas:

time and malon own a ranch. twilight's a drifter looking after wild who takes a job as a ranch hand and the two of them end up adopted. wars is the son of the Wealthiest Business Man in town. he and wind are step siblings. ravio owns the gas station in town. legend begrudgingly works there. they are roommates (currently).

boarding school au?? time and malon are the house parents for a dormitory. room assignments are; wars and twi (seniors), hyrule and legend (sophomores), wild and sky (juniors), wind and four (freshmen). teenage angst abound lmao The Kids Are Not Alright

city au. wind and wars are step brothers, wars is looking after wind. wars' college bestie is twi who "adopted" wild. legend's a couch surfer though they dont mind putting him up at all. four lives down the hall from twi with his grandpa. idk where hyrule, sky, and time fit into this one

ANYWAY! idk that ill ever write these or anything. maybe a oneshot or quickfic here or there. who knows!! au stuff really isnt my strong suit. i already get worried about my fics being unfaithful to source property/doing characters wrong. and i guess all of these might be urban fantasy in some way?? they need more simmer time

If you don’t mind tho, would you have any clue where I could ask about this talk of the LU fandom/Jojo going out of line? I’m oblivious to whatever happened and I’m curious

it's a bit of a complicated and long story, but some of it has to do with fans in general just being rly pissy about characterizations. i'm not pointing any fingers or listing any names bc it's not a One Person kinda problem, and some people don't even notice/see the issue and don't think it's an issue at all. in the grand scheme of things, this first issue isn't rly that big of a deal

(this might get long, and might bring up some anxieties for people, so this break is for anybody who wants to avoid mentions of fandom discourse, including past belittlement of furries, otherkin, and systems. stay safe)

reminder: this is just me clarifying info bc somebody asked! i am not trying to dredge up old mistakes

^ some of the things im talkin about are like . people babying wind. people turning wars into a comic-relief character that only knows how to creep girls out. people turning twilight into an emo cowboy that constantly cries about his girlfriend that's now in another realm or whatever. people simplifying wild into a crazy arsonist who doesn't seem to have a brain. people taking the "bitter" part of legend and exaggerating it So much that he's literally just an asshole to everybody all the time for NO reason other than that "he's the bitchy one"

personally this isn't nearly as annoying to me as some others find it. but i think the Bigger one, for me at least, is jojo herself

in this post, jojo makes fun of furries and otherkin, which i do not agree with. i don't have a problem w jojo not wanting twi to be "furry-like" but she drew the furry purposefully disgusting and stupid-looking to make fun of them. i don't know much about otherkin, but i know it's wrong to make fun of other people, especially when they aren't hurting anybody <3

and in this post, while explaining four's characterization in the comic, jojo put the word system in air quotes, as if to suggest there's something wrong with systems or that they don't exist or something. that stirred up quite a lot of suspicion and doubt in the fandom, and many systems obviously did not like that. i am not a system, so that's all i'll put here—a lot of systems posted their own takes on it when it happened

jojo has since edited both the tumblr post and the insta post to not have the word system in quotes. she explained herself and apologized here and here (this specific one is, i Believe, referring to past mistakes such as the ones above), but some people still are a bit iffy on that whole debacle (me included)

there might be more, but that's everything that i personally know of as to why the fandom has sorta gone bad. this next reason (sorta two reasons) is a personal thing and i don't rly hold it against jojo herself:

silly reason: i just like familial bonds and Close relationships in fiction, and lu does not cover that. they call each other "brother" from time to time but that's not enough dammit i want them to cuddle and i want time to be the father figure and i want them to live in a nice ranch house together happily ever after OKAY!!!! /silly

a more serious reason: linkshipping

i DO NOT agree with people belittling others for posting linkshipping, and this happens in lu All The Time and it's appalling. im not gonna get into the whole "but it's against her rules" thing bc i have some conflicted feelings abt that whole topic and this will get ridiculously long if i prattle abt that, but . people r getting bullied. people r getting singled out and Called Out and hated on and, in extreme cases, Driven Off The Platform bc they posted two silly little fictional men kissing. that's inexcusable to me

it's a bit more complicated than that, but i am of the simple opinion that u should Never police how other people have fun, and this is all fictional and we should redirect our collective hatred toward Real World Problems instead of wasting our time on arguing about whether or not these fictional elves should kiss <3

if i do make a new au and get away from this fandom, i hope to provide a safe space for Everybody, including linkshippers

“Magic show?” Hyrule asked curiously, staring at the sign posted on the notice board in skyloft, “whats that?” he turned to Sky with his head tilted to the side. The small fae sat on Skys palm, his wings flittered slightly, a common sign of the boys confusion,

Sky felt his eyes narrowed in confusion, reading over the sign once again, “Im not quite sure. I've never seen something like this before.” he turned to the rest of the chain, he caught the eyes of time, (or rather the eye of time) the eldest of the group sighed slightly at Skys gaze, gazing at the rest of the group.

“We could use a break, that last battle took a lot out of us all, hyrule are you up for healing yet?” the fae nodded at time, jumping off Skys hand and transforming back into his human like form. “Tend to Four and Wild first. Wars, can you check over everyone else for any pressing injuries?” the two nodded, getting to work quickly at the elders request.

‘ I already said im fine time. Hyrule, heal twi instead, I think his arms broken.’ wild signed, the young dragons tail lay limply on the floor, unlike most of the time when it was constantly moving and causing on more then one occasion, someone to trip over it. Sky had seen it be stabbed by a black blooded lizofo from wilds hyrule whilst they had been in fours hyrule before the world change.

“For Hylias sake can you please just let ‘rulie do his job.” legend rolled his eyes at the newest member of the chain, twilight glared at the Vet, who promptly found his black colored nails to be the most interesting thing.

“Sky can it be trusted? Its your hyrule after all.” Time questioned, the cut along his arm was being examined by Wars, but still maintained eye contact with Sky. “Im not sure.” Sky mumbled, something was wrong with the flier, what it was? Sky was unsure what it was for certain, but he shook off the feeling.

“Ill get us some rooms, we can sleep on it, but without a doubt, it is quite strange.” sky finally decided. He unfolded his red and white wings as he prepared to take off to meet with sun. based on where they were, they would be able to reach the inn within ten minutes on foot, including the slight setback of four being unconscious due to the change, the portals had always messed him up, no matter how close in times they swapped.

“Ill be back.”

Whenever Songbird calls Twi’s name he’s definitely about to get his as beat because she always calls him ‘babe’, ‘honey’ or ‘hon’ hell even in danger when she does say his name there’s a very distinct pitch she goes to almost like a dog whistle also he would pull a Miguel and just start running on all fours. For some reason that’s how I imagine him chasing their adopted kids to round them up for dinner 😭

Atalanta’s call has more bass to her voice when she calls to him and wild freezes before weighing out the pros and cons of running because he knows he’s fucked up. When in trouble i don’t even think she gets his name out before he’s just rushing in.

Athena never calls Time Link unless Malon told her that Time’s in trouble it’s either dumbass (affectionate) or dumbass (non affectionate.) but he definitely has a big brother sense of “where did she go?” Before he has to go to her house in which bumps into Percival on the way because he was about to ask if he knew where his wife went?

Wild and Twi definitely call them Gerudo Nubian goddesses and coco butter queens when they know their upset because it makes them laugh and forget how angry they are with them

Also tell me your Wars thoughts I wanna hear -🧚🏽‍♀️

twi's running around collecting the kids for dinner/family trip and all of a sudden they hear miguel's theme. they look around trying to figure having a "why do i hear boss music" moment and all of a sudden they get jumped by a furry before getting hauled back to the house like a sack of flour

("baby, why are the kids all banged up?" "why was a grown man running on--" "dw abt it babygirl. we were just havin a lil fun (:" and twi's just sending them a look)

time pulls percival into panicking over athena as soon as they run into each other. they have a moment of "she told me she was going to x" "well she told me she was going to y" and now theyre just stuck asking around 🗿 whole time malon knew exactly where she was bc why would she let her baby daddy (athena) go anywhere without telling her first?

wild having to go through literally his entire life to figure out what he did wrong when atalanta's voice has a little to much bass in it is crazy 😭 he shoots flora a quick text on the sheikah/purah pad thats like "whatd i do this time ):" "Honestly, if you can't figure it out yourself I don't know what to tell you." "PROPER GRAMMAR?????" and now both his girls are mad at him bc its def a shared co-parenting experience with him

wild def gave atalanta and flora a lifealert bracelet that senses when they're around enemies or smth 😭😭 he burst into purah's when one of them came back with one two many scratches (it was a single scratch. from a normal keese.) goin on abt some "i just dont think my heart can take it if they go out without me and they run into trouble. robbers or monsters or otherwise"

warriors and his s/o under the cut bc idk how long im gonna talk abt it

im calling wars s/o aphrodite to keep the greek mythology thing going, but it def fits bc not only is she really fucking hot/pretty/the beauty standard/everybody wants her, but bc she's the aphrodite to warriors' ares/hephaestus (probs both. def without the cheating)

shes typically seen as armcandy to wars and is almost always seen in like,, bodycon fits or fits that show off skin bc shes a bad bitch and wars knows how to dissuade ppl from makin moves (not thru fighting. he's in enough trouble with the powers that be bc of her already)

idk what their relationship was before they got together (probably smth like aphrodite taking a look at wars, going like "i like you. youre mine now", and him just being okay with it), but even if she doesnt make it obvious that theyre in a relationship, he makes it known well enough for the both of them with the way he pays for her shopping sprees, carries all her bags from said shopping sprees, always has a hand (usually both) on her, pressing kisses wherever he can whenever he can (gomez and morticia frfr), etc etc (aka clingy boyfriend behavior)

idk why but i imagine aphrodite hanging around wars' quarters/room in the castle more often than anywhere else (if not evident by the way her items-- more specifically, her clothes-- take up most of his closet and drawer space) (thats not even half of it). she usually hangs around it bc not only is it filled with him/his aura/his presence even when hes gone, but bc when she does go out in public/around the castle, shes always bombarded with nonsense (also, she just doesnt vibe with castle life at all)

(imagining wars' place is like, a cottage a little ways away from the castle with the stablehands or smth, or his own wing in the castle thats more like a house or smth? its small, but not enough for everything to be in one room. its big, but not enough for someone to get lost and mistake it for a manor)

(also entirely unrelated but, bc shes gerudo (on my dead things 🤝🏽 gerudo 🤝🏽 magic bs again yes), she's wellversed with magic, right? she usually floats, draping herself around wars shoulders like a cat or smth, around adding to her ethereal/magic/faery/fairy aesthetic)

because of her homebody nature, i imagine she's more of a homemaker like songbird, but she still has a fuck around and find out attitude like athena. she cares for wars when he gets back from the field or meetings, making sure to keep his (their) little house comfortable, but she also openly talks shit abt any generals or nobles when theyre in the room bc theyre giving her man a little to much grief abt smth he had no control over

("the general (not impa) said i had to host the celebratory dinner this time" "tell him i said piss off." "baby." "im not letting another 100 year old elf into my house. im pretty sure the last one pissed in our chair." "you threw it away, right?" "why d'you think i went out to buy a whole new table set?")

(alternatively, its not uncommon to walk in and see them positioned to where wars' head is laying on aphrodite's tits while she cards her fingers through his hair and scratches his scalp, gassing him up and saying other loving words)

shes def the first person the army see when wars has to join them on wtv battle. hes def the first soldier to leave whenever he is. he has to skip whatever debriefing is to be had (and isnt seen for at least a week or two) bc aphrodite is to busy healing him, smothering him, and making him eat actual food bc she knows the food they serve on the field is shit

when he gets taken away to be with the chain, aphrodite realizes he's missing after not even 5mins of him being gone (he was prob coming back to his quarters and was late. hes never late) and tracks him down to somebody else's hyrule like "wtf are you doing here." "howd you get here?? we're 300yrs in the past apparently??" "idk what made you think time travel could take you from me"

during the adventures she def comes up with a way to keep them in touch via call or video or apparition or smth. they have to fall asleep on a call, she pops up mid-fight scaring him but that's okay bc she just took care of the engine while she was as it, or he just calls her and she's mid bath or wtv

idk i like the idea of aphrodite and warriors

SFour: Not responding to the name and pulling himself back up from the dirt. His movements are sluggish and he's wobbling a bit. He's preoccupied with his feet.

Twi: Barely catches Fours arm to help him balance and steady him on his feet "Woah, buddy! Hold still there partner,take your time!"

SFour: "HUH??? Oh! You're talking to ME! Uhhhh, yeah I'm Four. I mean fine! Im fine! Just adjusting my balance is all!"

Twi: Hair rising on the back of his neck at the shadow energy.

Wind: "Hah! You're wobblin' like a drunk sailor on dry land!"

Time: Squat/crouching next to Four to look at him better. "Hey, its okay if something is wrong, you can tell us. You dont look okay, what happened?"

SFour: Shadow freaks out a little at all this attention and jerks away, nearly stumbling. Nope he stumbles. If it weren't for Twi, he'd be on the ground.

Time: Sees SFours eyes "Wait, thats not a col-"

Twi: "Hey, this guy feels like darkness!"

SFour: Jerks free this time, half falling half scampering away for the trees.

Wars: Grabs SFour up by his armpits and holds him kicking and screaming off the ground. Wars might be grinning a bit. Holding up angry shorties is fun.

Twi: "Holy shit he has fangs!"

Time: Hand flying to his sword "Who are you?!?"

SFour: "Im Fours Shadow! Let me go! Agghhh Hylian bodies so heavy-!" Frantic squirming while Wars looks around him at Time for instructions, totally not following. Himbo needs instructions.

Time: Calm dad voice "Where's Four, and why are you in his body?"

SFour: "Bird boy blew the Fours minds, so they're reeling in back and just left the body unattended! I'm just keeping it moving while they have their little mind break back there! Irresponsible freaking-" trails off into mumbling

Sky: Had started wandering off as the situation is well in hand, only to pause and call back "wait, what? I heard my name?"

SFour: "Put me down, you vanity-obsessed mascara jockey!"

Wars: "Oh Im going to throw him in the river!"

Twi: "No, no, I think he has a point!"

Time: Rubbing his temples "Goddesses have mercy on me, not another one!"

SFour: Snarling and squirming to try and bite Wars.

Wars: Shaking Four like a wet sock.

Twi: Trying to pull Four away from Wars.

Legend: "Hey Wild, you got that sheikah slate?"

Wild: "Already taking pictures"

SFour: Kicks Twi in the face

Wars: "HAH! Serves you-"

SFour: Whips his head back to smack Wars nose and escape in the resulting flinch

Wind: Gremlin "Oh, I like this guy!"

Vio: Should we help him?

Yeah, with the whole of our world history and the way we are as humans would probably blow their minds. Reader is from our world. I suppose we kinda have myths of elves, who are similar looking to Hylians but they're just a concept. ƪ(‾.‾“)┐

We don't have magic, we can make illusions but we rely heavily on science. (Though I went to a party and there was a magician and he managed to get a pool 8 black ball out of a card box and I knew it was empty before hand so maybe....) (⊙_◎)

Also, I wonder what they'd think about our religions. We have sooooo many, and they have one.

We also have sooo many different cultures. I mean it's amazing. I think if Legend and Hyrule had the chance to travel to France or India or Japan or just anywhere in the world, they would. Because we have a lot of amazing sites as well. Like the Pyramids and leaning tower of Giza. I think (ignoring the conflicts and wars and stuff) they'd be intrigued to travel to further lands.

Also imagine them on a plane ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ That would be such a chaotic and stressful experience for the chain, the reader and every other passenger on board flight 100. Apart from Sky.

If Wild ever saw an Elephant, I think he would call it Vah Ruta. He'd also be down for trying to ride one.

Awww the chain meeting baby elephants. Not so cute when mama comes barging towards them after Wild tries to steal one.

Try to teach Time how to ride a bike. Or any technology. He does that mum thing when you show him a picture. And then he tries to swipe. ಠ ل͟ ಠ

I think they'd lose Twi at a rodeo. Seagulls are mean here as well, imagine a seagull stealing Winds ice cream.

Taking Sky to see tropical birds. Or Warriors to see London. Taking Four up north, maybe like Norway. Im not sure why but I feel like he'd like it there. I'm probably wrong.

Also, somewhere in the world, we have a real sword in the stone. Take them to that, and say it's our version of the master sword and just watch them struggle to pull it out.

Sorry, this was kinda long again but I've been thinking about how they would be in our world. (◕ᴗ◕✿)

With the sword in the stone, it's the one king to rule them all.

I love all of this. I would love to see them interact with our world and show them everything good it has to offer via internet because I'm broke and can't afford to travel.

We can't travel because money. Whereas they can just pack a bag and go. No real need to worry about that sort of thing.

What Goes Unseen

Linked Universe Time Warriors and Legend angst to sort of fluff?

They all have secrets. That much is a given, and sort of hard to miss, given the way Four clams up when asked about his moods, how often Wild has to just... stop and leave and come back to himself when they pass ruins sometimes, or the way Twilight vanishes without a trace to go off doing Hylia only knew what.

And that wasn't even touching on the walking enigmas Time and Legend could be, so sure. They all have their secrets. Even bubbly Wind and soft spoken Sky. Secrets, secrets everywhere, in plain view or otherwise.

But something about Wild’s Hyrule has been eating away at Warriors for weeks. Enough that Legend has even noticed his change in mood, his disinterest in most of the things he normally jumped at.

Enough that the veteran adventurer surprises him by pulling him aside to talk in the guise of a patrol, enough that he wears Warriors down with enough pointless questions that the knight just explodes to ask him what the hell it is he wants.

"Somethings been on your mind for almost a month. You're starting to scare the old man," Legend says bluntly, "I didn't think you could top that "launch tree into bokoblin camp and rain fire from above" heart attack you gave him, but here we are. What gives?"

For a moment, Warriors just stares at him, because firstly, how dare he insinuate that that plan hadn't worked perfectly outside of the landing, and secondly, since when did you pay that much attention to me?

He huffs.

"I'm fine."

"Uh. No."

Worth a try, anyway, Warriors thinks, turning away from the scrutinizing eyes of the young man across from him.

Legend notes the way his fingers dig into the blue cloth around his neck, and sighs, gesturing to a fallen log.

"Sit," he says, "tell me whats bothering you. If its got you like this, it warrants a serious talk, without pretense."

"Didn't know you knew such fancy words."

"Don't make me take it back and kick you in the shins."

Warriors has to laugh at that at least a little, so he sits, as instructed, and watches Legend plop unceremoniously into the mix of leaflitter, pine nettles, and flower petals on the forest floor.

He's still fidgeting with the scarf, and the words come slowly at first, then frantic and almost angry.

"My mother used to tell me, you know.... that there are stories, in the absences. In what we don't see. And- the more I look around, the more I see you- all of you- in Wild's Hyrule. Goddess, you're all everywhere.... but-.... out of the nine of us, there are only eight call backs. Even Wild's got his own legends already. So I can't help but wonder--..."

"Where you are."

"Where I went! What happened? Did- did I fail, somehow? Did I do something wrong? There's nothing left that says I ever even existed!"

"You existed to us. To Wild, to me, and Time, and Twi and the others. Between all of us, there's no denying that you were here."

Legend realizes belatedly that he's only just barely fended off a fit of sobs from the knight, and counts himself lucky and also gives himself a brownie point or three for the save, just before he recognizes the familiar thwacking and tramping of bronze armor against offending tree branches and leather boots on forest floor somewhere behind him.

He feels the heat come through his voice before he can stop the words from coming out of his mouth.

"Besides, you didn't completely fuck a timeline, then leave another to Ganon for seven whole years, now did you? Too busy cleaning up other people's messes."

Time froze as his foot settled on the line of the clearing they were in, and the pregnant silence in the moment it took him to school his voice into something normal made Warrior's skin crawl it was so uncomfortable.

"..... T-There you boys are.... Twilight was--.... he was getting worried. I'll tell him you just .... stopped for a break."

He turned on his heel in a perfect about face that made Warriors knight-side a little jealous, but the rest of him looked to Legend, who was avoiding the direction Time had gone entirely. Realization dawned a moment after.

"......... that was cruel, Legend..... I didn't want you to make me feel better if you were just going to tear him down. Or tell his secrets."

"...... if I'm honest Wars? That last jab was more for my sake than yours."

"What?"

"Whose timeline do you think his failure ruined?"

The sharp intake of breath on Warriors part told Legend he'd picked up on all the appropriate cues.

".... that's one of my secrets, for spilling his to you, I guess. I don't know if I'm ever gonna be able to forgive him. But hey, since when has Hylia ever cared what we thought? Probably hasn't since Sky...... the point is, you aren't a failure for having to pick up after everyone else, and then not getting thanked for it. You're like that with all of us, too. Constantly doing things hoping someone will at the least notice. I noticed. All of us have. You're a goddamn hero, same as the rest of us, and the only reason your scarf isn't locked up in a chest out here somewhere is probably because you wouldn't part with that thing if it cost you your freaking soul or something. Duh."

Its quiet for a moment, and Warriors takes the time to look down at the blue around his neck a moment before smiling.

"..... you should apologize to Old Father Time.... but you're right. I guess its still all in the things you don't see at first glance- I never would have thought you a confidant. You might find out some interesting things about him if you sat like you did with me."

"Id rather eat one of Wild's disgusting potions made out of butterflies and lizalfos."

"Don't jinx yourself, Vet."

"Shut up."

Legend was going to murder Warriors.

Don't jinx yourself my ass, you set this up, you sorry-- he cut his own thoughts off to hiss under his breath.

Not only was Legend laid up with Time looking out for him as first watch, but he'd had to drain four of those nasty freaking potions.

"I hate. Lightning. So much."

Normally, that would have earned him a chuckle, or at least a sympathetic hum.

But Time just turned his head towards a darker section of the underbrush that Legend knew for sure he absolutely could not see anything in.

Was it the being ignored or the uncertainty and hurt in Time's expression that made his stomach twist?

"I said--"

"I heard you, Legend. I'm sorry, I didn't think you wanted to speak to me."

"...... oh..."

The simple acceptance of Legend's earlier ire pulled all of the heat right out from under him, and he deflated some into his bedroll.

"........ I am sorry.... I know it doesn't mean much to you, but... I am. Even the sword didn't think I was good enough, and judging by your reaction, it was probably right."

Legend winced.

"What kind of bullshit cop-out is that? The sword doesn't make you a damn hero, it just points and grabs like a stupid claw game."

"Success, does, then. And that is a baton I clearly didn't pass to you, that I missed out on passing down peace..... it eats at me, some nights when I can't sleep, that I still managed to grasp at straws and hold so tight to so much good that I got to keep it. And I doomed you. I have everything and you were left wanting."

Legend stared at his back, the way he bent around the biggoron sword leaning into his right shoulder to be drawn if need be by his left hand.

"Im afraid I'm going to lose it all one day because I failed you so badly."

"I'm not that pitiful."

"Legend-"

"Look, I'm fine--"

"What was her name, Legend?"

The air left Legends lungs in a sudden, sharp breath.

"..... That's what I thought..."

"...... you were ten, if that..... yes, it sucks, and time travel is a pain, but you were fucking ten. Hylia sent a ten year old, let his tree mentor die right in front of him, and then continued to traumatize- REPEATEDLY traumatize- a child. Yes, I'm angry. Bitter and jaded, even. But don't you dare get so self important that you start thinking the blame fits on your shoulders. You're an old fucking man, not a god."

"Interesting choice of words...."

"No. No, because you're just gonna start unloading more trauma. If this is about that creepy mask, then no. That doesn't count either!"

"You're awfully concerned about this particular issue.... alright, I'll let it drop--"

"No, you ten year old little brat in a mentally fifty year olds achy jointed body, you're gonna go the fuck to sleep and stop moping. Its my turn to take watch and I'll be damned if I have to sit up watching you get all weepy into your pillow and trying to snitch Wild's slate to call your wife at two in the goddamn morning. Go to bed!"

Time stared at him in surprise, (the ten year old in him in question seriously debating biting the finger wagging in front of his nose) before Legends phrasing hit him.

"Oh, I’m going to absolutely kill Warriors for telling you about how I was when we met."

"Brat! Bed! Bounce to it, bunny hat kid!"

"You are the last person--"

"Bed!"

"Alright! Alright! Fine! You're lucky I don't fit those masks anymore," Time muttered, picking himself up off the stump to go peel off his armor and crawl into his bedroll. He was silent as Legend pulled himself into the space he'd emptied, then sighed and smiled.

"..... thank you, Vet."

"Yeah yeah yeah. Go to sleep before you wake up Twilight. He has ears like a fucking wolfhou---....... oh my goddess you're kidding me."

"Shhh."

"Goddess I hate you sometimes."

Warriors, apparently woken by the hissing through Legends teeth, chuckled to himself.

Its all in the things you don't see, I guess, he thinks.

Secrets secrets, everywhere, but.... together, we're all still here for each other. I can live with that.

"Good night bratty bunny and feral bunny."

Two furious choruses of "HEY!" were the perfect lullaby for Warriors to drop right back off to sleep.

Yeah...

He could definitely live with that.

OK i had to put thought into this for sure!

time - kid at heart right??? in my experience the two foods kids hate are mushrooms and tomatoes. i think time *hates* tomatoes but hes the grown up so he eats around them or pushes them into twilights food. wars and four pretend they dont notice.

wars - seems like he would detest spray cheese. like hes a rich boy used to the finest of condiments. man will go to war for a shitty fast food burger though. also seems like hed hate meatloaf and mint. i think he and wind are the pickiest eaters

twilight - i think hes used to eating sweet vegetables so i think he doesnt like greens very much. spinach, chard, kale. i also see him hating broccoli but he likes cauliflower. like when wild serves broccoli twi is worried hes done something wrong

sky - fish, esp whitefish. its too bitter and he didnt grow up with it. he *hates* cod with a passion. like if you want to piss of sky you give him cod

wild - most adventurous eater so he hates anything under seasoned. im talking mashes--mashed potatoes, mashed peas, mashed cauliflower. he doesnt like the texture or the taste. he does like applesauce

legend - pretends not to be a picky eater but he is. shrimp. its a texture thing for him more than a taste thing. too firm and he hates the ocean

hyrule - least picky eater to an alarming degree. he loves really sweet and really spicy things. i see beef being too savory for him but if you want to make him upset give him a lemon or grapefruit. theyre way too bitter. he does like oranges.

four - the colors have preferences i think but as a whole, they collectively hate rhubarb. its too tart and bitter. they dont even like it when its sweetened.

wind - picky eater bc child. i think he loves taro but hate hate hates turnips and radishes. he prefers foods that are sweet and spicy at the same time.

TL;DR: im mentally ill.

god where do i even start . fuck.shit .

i think what i like about him most is his Goofiness. he just ? does really silly things solely to get a laugh out of people, even if it makes him look stupid or ridiculous in the process. he Lives to make legend laugh especially, and he's basically always tryin to get a smile out of him someway or another

he's dramatic and cranks his reactions up to a 9 purely to spark some smiles. legend gently kicks him in the shins for making a dumb joke and it doesn't hurt him in any way, but he still yelps and holds his foot and hops around like it's been run over by a boulder. twi playfully shoves him back when they're joking around and wars makes a show of leaning away until his back is on the ground as if the push had really been that strong. wind is sitting in front of him, and wars' drink is on a table behind the kid, so he takes the opportunity to lean forward to Squish wind underneath him, going oh so sorry kid so sorry i'm in ur way it'll just be a second so sorry oughh this sucks doesn't it while he's literally already got his hand around his drink. he's just staying there to listen to wind giggle. he's just a silly guy

he's also just,,, so fucking gentle dude. he's so Gentle w everybody. when he was young he learned all that bullshit abt never showing weakness, never crying blah blah blah Gross . wars thinks that's gross. he was raised on that for most of his childhood, but first, he learned to be gentle and caring from his mom :) she taught him that and he's always stuck to it

he's always so ready to help ? to Fix? he is 100% constantly looking to make sure everybody is okay around him. he lives off of hugs, loves them to death, and is prolly the most cuddly of the chain in my eyes. is always offering them, gets sad when he doesn't get one within like a day VGIEAYVGA and he's always right there to comfort the others; always holding them, always lookin out for them. rly emotionally open i guess ? always happy to listen and happy to comfort. gentle big bro vibes

^ due to all that, sometimes the chain genuinely almost,, forgets he's a captain. he can look scary on the outside if he's fully geared up, but the chain has long-since been desensitized to how dangerous they all look and they see Family there instead of Hero Figure. wars is so gentle and kind and loving and doting that sometimes their memory of what that scarf around his neck rly means fades a bit

that's not to say they don't think he's a good captain—quite the opposite, they think he's an incredible one—but it's just,,, wild to see him hugging people and ruffling hair and being Silly one moment, and then he's a fucking cold, unstoppable force the next. eyes kind and fond at first, but when a battle starts they r Crazed and focused and he's slitting enemies with such perfect swipes that they are cut clean through. it makes them all realize just how gentle he rly is w them ? there is just Something abt that . smth that gets me

^ expanding on him looking out for them, he's really good at spotting when somebody needs a break ? he's . rly good at People. he knows how to read them, how to approach them, what to say, when to say it. and after a while of getting to know the chain, he knows how to look for signs Individually for the different boys. he knows his family very well; if something is wrong, he will likely be able to tell. true to his captain instincts, he keeps them all in his sight, looks after his family closely. a good leader,, good brother :)

he likes to gently remind them to take care of themselves. he's definitely one of those people that mother hen you a bit; he likes to check on everybody, ask if they've drank anything, if they've eaten yet, are they okay, what's on their mind, stuff like that. he needs to know everybody's okay,,, he worries otherwise :(

^ he loves to preach about self-care, and i think one of his biggest flaws w that is that he doesn't follow his own advice at all. he's a huge fucking hypocrite. he knows the consequences of lack of self-care, knows how important it is, and he's even said so most of his life—it's one of the biggest reasons he's such a revered leader in his era, bc he's just,, The Best in terms of tending to his troops and paying attention to mental limits as well as physical. he just,,,, seems to think he himself is exempt from that

he thinks he can just keep working. he thinks he's immune to every type of exhaustion and he will keep going until he collapses. he's got a nasty habit of throwing himself away to keep others standing, and the most concerning part of that is that if somebody points it out or asks if he's pacing himself, he seems to be absolutely clueless to the damage he's doing to his mind and body

. i'm gonna go on a mini-tangent inside this bigger tangent if you don't mind <3: a lot of people tend to characterize him as this over-confident asshole who thinks he's amazing—and that's a perfectly acceptable characterization btw, the freedom of interpretation is a wonderful thing—but i personally see him very differently. i think that characterization tends to stem from that mission in his game, where he gets overconfident after receiving the master sword ?

and to me, that was . a very small fraction of that game. like so small. it was One mission, and then they never touched on it again. and when i think abt that mission, i always remember a line from the start of the game; i don't quite remember when it was said, but at some point the narrator says, "Link did not believe himself to be worthy," in response to him being a Hero ? or smth of that manner. and i think abt that line all the goddamn time.

wars did not have a lot of confidence in himself. he's gotten much better over the years, especially when it comes to combat and leading, but he still doesn't have the confidence he maybe should. when he got the master sword, he felt Power in his hands that he previously had not owned. he'd felt useless before, just a Fucking Guy who suddenly got promoted to Captain and Hero Status, fumbling around and hoping for the best. and then he suddenly had power in his hands. i don't blame him for feeling unstoppable and taking advantage of that—he'd wanted to help, and he finally had a way to do so effectively. he just went too far in an attempt to make things better, and became a little blind to his limits

so he is Not confident. my wars isn't, at least. he has faith in his own combat and leadership skills, but that's pretty much where the confidence ends. he doesn't think of himself as this unstoppable, perfect Heroic symbol. he thinks of himself as Guy Who's Pretty Good At Swinging Swords and Yelling.

and that's ? part of why he thinks he's exempt from all that self-care stuff. he either forgets and gets too caught up in everybody else's problems to care for himself, or he,, genuinely thinks that throwing himself away to keep others up is Okay . like he Deserves that.

i won't get super into it here cuz it's part of his dumb backstory created by my dumb brain, but a lot of that has to do w how he was treated in the army, and his dumbass dad <3 worked him to the ground and pretty much, overtime, made him think that if he wasn't being useful, he didn't have worth. and he's experienced people leaving him bc he "stopped being useful."

so yeah he has abandonment issues . but the chain slowly and surely helps him through those insecurities :] tries to make sure he knows he doesn't have to work himself to death for them to love him,, doesn't completely fix things obviously, and he still struggles w it, but it helps A Lot

another thing w him preaching self-care and then not caring for himself,, he tends to think like that with trauma as well. continuously tells the others that it's okay to Not be okay and that whatever trauma they're dealing w is valid and it's okay to be vulnerable, but then he ,,, goes against all of that for himself.

tries not to "burden" the others w his shit, kinda keeps it locked up, and he tends to think badly abt himself when he's having a tough time. just,, rly beats himself up for Having Trauma, especially when it gets in the way of his productivity and he ends up being "less useful" bc of it. and sometimes he doesn't seem to realize that the chain seeing him like that hurts them a lot, and they're more than willing to console him and try to make it easier on him.

^ over time they Also help him w that,, they help each other a lot. for years, he's tried to repeat the same stuff he tells other people to Himself—stuff like self-care, vulnerability being natural and Okay—but he's never had the self-worth to rly put much stock into it. the chain showing him love even when he was "being useless?" that helped him get over that hurdle

and his constant Care and reminders to take care of themselves r eventually gently reflected back at him—"have you eaten today buddy?" "yeah. what about you?"—just to get wars in the habit of asking Himself the same questions. they do a lot of little things like that in hopes that eventually it adds up to him healing
