remember that wip of the writing I shared with you a while back?
There’s more now >:)
His brown curls tickled his nose slightly, its natural color hiding the blood and sweat that lingered in the thick locks. Freedom felt like a curse at best. The cost of the ability to roam around free would never feel truly as it said in legend. Graves were eroded by harsh winters, acid rain, and sand sharp enough to stab into over-walked feet if not careful. The air in itself had the faint feeling of poison, but mostly held the call of tears and an everlasting depression that wouldn’t relent its hold on the once vibrant land. The magic in the air felt muted and scarce, as if confirming the absence of hope.
So the traveler kept walking.
He followed his feet, a silent prayer whispering in each step for somewhere, or even simply, something, that would give him the sense of life again. He couldn’t comprehend who he was praying to, that was beyond his limited knowledge. Youth still clouded his features, his cheeks lifting to every smile, eyes that held wonder at the simplest of things, or perhaps the way his hair still held the soft bounce to it, how it glowed in the sun, as if reaching up to the ball of light, so close he could just touch it.
But he couldn’t.

The crisp, cool air and bright sun heralded the death of winter, a welcome reprieve from snowy patrols and freezing in metal armor. Abel enjoyed winter, honestly - snow brought a beauty and silence to the world that he rarely experienced, and both he and Tilieth could get lost staring out at the white expanse until they were both dragged indoors by her parents because they were shivering. Nevertheless, spring brought new life to the world, and it was Tilieth’s favorite season, so Abel liked it too.
Most importantly, though, the eve of springtime was when Abel was given a break so he could return home.
Breathing in the scent of flowers, Abel guided his horse from the Dueling Peaks Stable, feeling his heart swell with excitement as he headed towards the fort. He hadn’t been home in nearly six months, and he couldn’t wait to see his family. He glanced to his right to see wild horses grazing in the distance, giving him comfort and making him smile. This area was the most beautiful in Hyrule, in his opinion. He remembered when he was first stationed near Hateno Village, and he thanked Hylia every day for that blessing.
Movement up ahead caught his attention, and the knight squinted as he saw someone riding his way at a full canter. Abel moved his steed towards the right side of the road to make way, senses alert for trouble, when he recognized the white spotted mare and his heart sped up in eager anticipation.
Tilieth’s smile was as bright as the sun, but the way she held herself was strange. She slowed her horse’s pace, one hand hidden under a cloak that she had tightly wrapped around her while the other guided the reins. Her light blonde curly hair was in its usual half up style, frizzy but carefree in the breeze. Abel sped up to cover the distance, and within seconds the two were side beside and in each other’s arms.
“What are you doing out here?” Abel asked as Tilieth giggled in his embrace. He didn’t let her go, he couldn’t, not after being away from her for so long, but something felt strange. Tilieth seemed in high spirits, but he didn’t like how he picked up on a change in atmosphere. Was it simply because it had been six months? What was wrong?
Tilieth looked up at him, face radiant, eyes sparkling with anticipation and tears. She kissed him first and foremost, and he returned it in full, enjoying the texture of her lips, the smell of her skin, the way his body melted under her touch, the way he felt safe and loved. Whatever was different, surely it couldn’t be so bad.
When his wife finally pulled away, she gave him one last kiss on the tip of his nose, giggling. “Oh, honey, it’s so good to see you.”
“I missed you,” Abel admitted with a soft sigh, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead before continuing with his earlier questioning. “But how did you know I’d be here today? What are you doing out here?”
“I spent yesterday planning out your route,” Tilieth answered with a little shrug. “You’re pretty predictable, you know, once I knew where you’d last been stationed based on your letters.”
Abel chuckled. He supposed he was predictable. His wife certainly wasn’t, though - he hadn’t expected her to meet him at the fort rather than waiting in the village.
“I just couldn’t wait to tell you!” Tilieth continued, squeezing him tightly as their horses waited patiently alongside each other.
“Tell me what?” Abel asked good naturedly, nuzzling her with his cheek.
“Oh, honey,” Tilieth gasped, pulling away, too excited to contain herself. “I’m—here, look!”
Abruptly, his wife reached forward to grab his hand, pushing her cloak off one shoulder to reveal her clothes underneath a little more. Abel wondered if perhaps she’d made something new, knowing she enjoyed to sew, when he noticed that her body shape was different.
Her abdomen was…
Tilieth guided his hand towards her belly, letting it rest there. Abel froze up entirely, his mind very quickly coming to the conclusion she was hinting at.
The little movement underneath his touch confirmed it.
“You—you’re—” He couldn’t even finish the statement, brain stopping short of the words, entire being reeling at the realization. Then the anxiety immediately hit. “You shouldn’t be riding, Til, what if—we need to get you home, and—”
Tilieth laughed outright now, kissing him again to silence his worried words. “I just had to see you, Abel! But come on, we can go home together.”
Abel stared at her, worries and happiness and relief and terror mixing together to the point that he didn’t even know what to say. So he just held her again, never wanting to let go, never wanting this moment to end, never wanting to get over the realization that he was a father now.
I’m a father.
What did—how could he be—what was he going to—the baby—there was a baby.
Tilieth was pregnant.
Abel laughed. He laughed until he cried, he held Tilieth as he trembled, and she rubbed his back lovingly, and he didn’t know what to say or do but by the goddess he would do everything he could for his wife and child. He would. He promised.
The couple moved side by side on their horses, the sun bright, spring in the air, new life all around them, and despite the silence that hung between them for the moment, their eyes spoke far more than any word in any language ever could.
And for one, beautiful moment, everything was perfect.

(content warning: heavy angst, SI, despair, and some body horror) Link felt sick.
He’d done it. He’d found one of their graves. He knew if he lingered here too long it would give his position away. He knew if Ganondorf took control at any point from here on out, he’d find out his daughter could be found, could be resurrected and controlled like Link was.
It was an accident. He had been looking for sword shards and had stumbled upon this place, nondescript as it was. Hemisi had never been one for flair, unlike her father.
He couldn’t do this. He refused to let his beloved be corrupted like he’d been. Link would rather die a thousand deaths, would rather burn in the magma of Death Mountain, than let Hemisi feel the agony and torture he felt when Ganondorf used his dark powers to bend his will.
Death Mountain. Death Mountain.
A thought crept into his head, dark, twisted, sickening and horrifying but efficient. It came from his heart, a desperate desire encased in love and fear, sharpened into clarity by his crumbling mind.
With trembling hands, Link picked up the urn. Gerudo more often than not burned their dead. The desert was not a forgiving place in general, and bodies rotted quickly. It was the quickest and cleanest way to lay them to rest. Link wasn’t sure Ganondorf could work with just ashes, but considering he’d managed to resurrect Link from likely dust—given how long it had been, he was surprised there had been much left of him—he wouldn’t put it past him.
Link walked for a long time. There was no way he could teleport with the gloom - it would give everything away. He ducked around canyons, hid behind monster camps; he knew the layout of a majority of the Depths like the back of his hand by now. He certainly knew this area.
In the distance it was brighter. Crimson glowed, a dichotomy of innocence and foreboding in comparison to the purple dim glow of the gloom everywhere. Link made his way towards it, feeling the air growing stiflingly hot. He didn’t have any elixirs to protect himself. He didn’t care.
The lava’s heat made the air swim. Link was already sweating, his footing growing unsteady as his lungs screamed in protest. He felt like he could breathe fire at this point. He still didn’t care.
This is the only way. He can’t resurrect what no longer exists.
May Hylia forgive me. May Hemisi forgive me.
I’m so sorry.
Link was close now. The lava was beginning to make the area unbearable. He nearly dropped the urn with as much his hands sweat and shook. He grimaced as a fiery wind tore through him, his skin blistering, his nerves crying for relief, his mind screaming to accomplish his goal before it was too late, his heart begging to join his beloved in this fate.
He was close enough now. Flames licked at his feet, snapping hungrily at his clothes. He took a breath.
He threw the urn into the fire.
The old clay shattered immediately, and the precious ashes it contained couldn’t even be seen in the lava’s voracious hunger. Every last piece of Hemisi disappeared in a heartbeat, as if her memory being erased were simply an afterthought.
Link threw up.
The force of it made him fall to his knees. His head was spinning, and the dirt here was more hot coals than soil. He didn’t have it in him to scream, even though every fiber of his being was doing so. The rancid smell of bile was only compounded and worsened by its cooking in the heat, and Link heaved again.
A scream finally did tear out of his throat as his hands started to smoke.
Leaping to his feet out of instinct, he tried to scramble back, but he wanted to move forward.
To hell with the sword shards, to hell with Hyrule and Ganondorf’s plans for it, he wanted to go home, he wanted to see her—
He was so tired. He was so lonely.
Link stumbled ahead, tears dried before they could ever leave his eyes. The lava was so close, it wouldn’t take much longer before he—
A hand gripped his wrist, cold and clammy, a blessed relief to his skin, but his mind screamed. Link gasped, trying to run, when another hand grabbed his other wrist, and then his body froze up. Cold, dark energy snaked around him from head to toe, except on his forehead, which burned. Link felt his breath stop, his muscles seize, and then, with agonizing effort in each move, he slowly turned away from the magma. A gloom spawn was directly in front of him, easing him away as he walked with it, his mind and heart screaming and flailing and kicking despite his body placidly going along with the beast. The sword shards were warm in his pouch, a comforting kindling fire in an ice cold abyss, and he almost felt himself hesitate despite Ganondorf’s control.
But no. It wasn’t enough.
His head exploded with pain as he fought the puppeteer, as he tried to break free, but he couldn’t. He never could. Unconsciousness was pulling fast, but he’d lose control entirely if he gave in.
Just do it, his mind whispered. Just let him win. What difference does it make now? He can’t hurt her.
Link was so tired.
Just give in. Let him guide you, go along with it. Let him take care of you.
Link was so lonely.
Let him love you.
He couldn’t stop himself from getting sick again, dark control or not. But since his body was no longer his own, he continued to walk, though his steps stumbled to a halt as he vomited. Gloom spread under his feet, easing the burning from earlier, and Link was pulled under.
When the darkness faded, he was back in the Center, the focal point of all the dark energy, and he heard footsteps rushing towards him. The world was spinning so dizzyingly he could get sick again, but miraculously he didn’t - either that or he just had nothing left in him.
The icy puppet strings that infected his muscles receded, leaving him with a pounding headache and body wide shivers. His knees buckled just as Ganondorf reached him, catching him.
“Link, what were you thinking?!” his fa—abuser demanded, voice shaking. “Why were you over there?”
He’d been playing his role so well. He’d been distracting Ganondorf, helping him in smaller ways, gaining his trust. He didn’t want to do it anymore. He just wanted to die.
“I’m tired,” he whimpered, the tears beginning to fall.
Ganondorf held the boy with trembling arms, but his grip tightened as Link fell apart. The child had no more words to say, only convulsing with full body sobs as Ganondorf gently picked him up to support him better. Link gripped his tunic, quickly soaking it with tears, and the demon king found himself at a loss of what to do.
The image of the boy laying in his arms, bleeding and crying and dying flashed through his mind, and he held him tighter, swaying back and forth.
Ganondorf didn’t understand what had happened. Link had been fine, hadn’t he?
His cries clearly indicated otherwise.
He felt his anger start to swell, an automatic response as his heart screamed, as he felt it race in terror at what had almost just happened. He didn’t like feeling afraid and out of control like this, so desperate to try and fix something that he couldn’t just fix. He bit back a snappish rebuke, channeling his anger into energy as he started to walk around the chamber, holding Link close, so close, he’d almost lost his boy—
For once, he didn’t know what to do.
This was why he had placed his magic in the boy. This right here. Because he’d done this before, this was how he’d died before! He’d sacrificed his life to save that pathetic excuse for a king! Why did the child think he could just throw his life away like this?! Did he not realize how important he was?
Ganondorf again found himself fighting his anger. It wasn’t particularly easy, as he usually just let it out, but years of parenting had taught him some self control.
This place was taking a toll on the boy. He needed to fix that, to help him. He channeled his rage into power, reaching up above into the Surface, feeling the swell of the Blood Moon like a high tide pushing on to land. Gloom gathered around the pair, and he made it take them above.
The air was suffocating a moment as they moved, and then it cleared substantially. A breeze blew, cooling the Gerudo’s hot cheeks, and he took a steadying breath. The smell of cherry blossoms and sweet honeysuckle saturated his nose, too unfamiliar to be comforting but pleasant enough. But for Link, it would mean the world. He’d taken them as close to Kakariko as he could manage. He hoped it was enough.
Link’s sobs hitched and paused as he felt the change in atmosphere, and he peeked his puffy eyes out from the folds of his guardian’s tunic. Ganondorf swept a hand up and down his back as he gazed around in wonder and confusion, a glimmering hope shining in his eyes for a moment.
When he looked upward, red eyes matching the moon perfectly, his face fell.
“W-what—what are you doing?” he asked shakily, eyebrows pulling together in worry. “Stop it, you’re going to hurt everyone—”
“My power is slowly growing. This is not hurting anyone.” Ganondorf assured the boy. “When the time comes we’ll take what is ours.”
Link wiggled feebly in his grip. “No, why can’t you just—stop—”
Ganondorf frowned, tightening his hold. “We had nothing but the harsh sun and winds, while Rauru sat on every resource this bountiful land had to offer. The only way he offered aid was through a vow of fealty, yet he did not have the strength or impetus to rule. Everything about Hyrule is a disgrace - a people who think peace is a more palatable option to the point of laziness and stagnation, an over bloated land full of weak fools! I am a true king, Link, and I will rule this land properly. Nothing will stop that.”
Link’s energy drained out of him, and Ganondorf brushed some hair out of his face. “You’ll see, child. When it’s all over, you’ll see how much better it is. Just trust me.”
Link closed his eyes, crying once more. “Let me go.”
“Link—”
“Let me go.”
“No,” Ganondorf said firmly, placing a hand on the boy’s cheek, demanding his attention. “You’re my boy. Your life isn’t a waste, you’re not destined to be cast aside and forgotten. You’re a prince, and I am never letting you go.”
Link watched him, some kind of yearning and desperation fighting the dull look in his eyes, those eyes that used to be so bright with fire and determination, that used to reflect the blood moon beautifully. Ganondorf felt his heart break a little at the sight of it, and his hand shifted to behind the teenager’s head, pulling him forward so he could kiss his forehead. The magic he’d imbued there was a promise of protection, and he would ensure this boy was safe, even from himself. Link trembled under his hold, and he heard him sniffle.
Sighing, he let the boy sink into his embrace once more. “I love you, Link.”
The young boy’s cries carried on the wind, filling the blood stained land. The demon king swayed back and forth, soothing him with gentle hushes. And in the distance, a Hero perked up at the sound of crying, pausing from his meal and grabbing his gear to investigate.

Healthcare Quotes!
(dark humor)
Four: My patient really needs a liver transplant. I want tonight to be the night he gets it. Legend: What’s your blood type? Four, rolling his eyes: Not my liver. I want to see him recover and all! Sky: That would be the fastest way to procure it, though. The ultimate sacrifice for your patient. Truly being a patient advocate. Legend: Let us know when you off yourself and we’ll give it like six minutes so you can be properly brain dead and all. Four, huffing: How about Warriors? He’s strong, healthy— Sky: Nah, he drinks too much, you don’t want his liver. Wars: >:O I DO NOT Legend: *wheezing*
Mo: *coughing* Hyrule: You good? Mo: I’m dying Aurora: None of that crap until the shift is over, we’ve had enough call outs tonight! Mo, sadly: Aw man
Warriors: *exiting a patient’s room laughing* Legend: What’s so funny? Wars: This dude has the absolute best insults ever. Legend: Who was he insulting? Wars: Me, because he didn’t get his water fast enough, but man was it amazing. Legend, interested now: So what did he call you?? Warriors, smirking evilly: You’ll never know. Legend: Wha—YOU CANT LEAD ME ON AND THEN LEAVE ME HANGING LIKE THAT
Twilight, staring into the void: Ilia: What’s wrong? Twi: The girl in 15 said I couldn’t play with her ponies because I wasn’t cool enough. Ilia, biting back laughter: That’s rough, buddy
Wild: This one teenager I was transporting to MRI said I was so bad at directions I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag. Twilight: She ain’t wrong. Wind: Did you say anything back? Wild: I said “Actually I can, animal control tried to use a bag to catch me and I found my way out of it just fine.” Twi, sighing: I can believe it
Time, stopping a surgical resident from doing something: That is what we call an artery. When I said don’t kill the patient, I meant don’t kill the patient. Since you were about to cut the artery, I think we need a lesson really quickly on what does and does not kill a patient. Time: For example. Bleeding to death leads to dying. I know this might be hard for you to understand but— Malon: *narrows eyes, raises eyebrow* Time:…But I understand you’re still learning.
Fable: Yeah, so she was supposed to get a mini-MVR, they perfed her LV, then they fixed that and her papillary muscles tore, then they tried to fix that and she got a VSD, so they just put her on ECMO and balloon pump and shipped her to us. Wild: What does—what?? Time: Her heart woke up and chose violence. Or her surgeon did, I’m not sure which.

Warnings: Blood, Temporary Character Death
Legend sat down at an inn bed with his thoughts. He tapped his foot on the carpeted floor, and looked up at the white ceiling.
“Don’t be a bully, vet. Sky doesn’t deserve that.”
Twilight’s words rang through his head, his eyes stinging. He had been pretty mean hadn’t he?
The ranch hand was right, the chosen hero didn’t deserve Legend’s remarks. Sky was the kindest and most heroic soul the vet had met.
So why had he said those things?
The vet rubbed at his eyes, not wanting to cry.
A bully.
It made Legend want to scream. His goal was to help people right? If he couldn’t do that…if he was the exact opposite then…what use was Legend?
The veteran wouldn’t give up so easily though. He’d try to change, and apologize to Sky. He thought over it, trying to picture what he was going to say. He hoped Sky would forgive him, no matter how futile it was.
The veteran stood up off the bed, pulling off his blue cap and laying it on a side table. He took a deep breath and opened the door when—
“HELP!”
Legend rushed out the door and followed the cries of help, heart pounding. He found a young lady, crying and holding a man’s body. “What happened? Is he breathing?” The vet asked as he heard footsteps.
“No!” She cried. “I don’t know what to do. There are horrible monsters out there and he-he tried to fight ‘em but they were too strong.”
He heard the captain’s voice, calling out for an explanation. The lady explained with a trembling voice and Warriors took one look at the limp, unmoving man before using chest compressions. Legend bit his lip, not sure what to do.
“What happened?” Time’s low, concerned voice made the veteran turn around.
“The lady said he tried to fight some monsters outside but couldn’t.” Legend informed.
The old man’s stoic eye trailed to the lady. “Where are these monsters and what specifically happened to him?”
“Oh Hylia.” The lady shuddered and then took a deep breath. “They have a camp real close to the inn and he didn’t wanna risk anything. One of the Moblins grabbed him by the neck and squeezed. He-he tried to get out but I heard a crack and he went unconscious. Out of blind rage I rushed at the Moblin and stabbed it with my pitchfork until it released my husband.”
“Was there any black blood?” Legend asked.
“Ye-yes. Come to think of it, I never recognized the Moblin. I just assumed it was one.” The lady mused.
“I’ll take care of the camp.” Legend decided.
The lady’s eyes widened. “Are you a warrior or a knight or something?”
“Something like that yes.” The veteran shrugged.
“Well…I can’t stop you but, be careful.” The lady warned.
Legend gave a nod. “Slow down, vet.” Time interrupted. “You’re not taking on a camp alone.”
The vet scowled. “Why? On my adventures I was alone.”
“I don’t want to risk anything. I’ll grab the others, and we’ll all go together. Stay here.” Time said sternly.
“Fine.” Legend grumbled and the old man ran up the stairs.
After a few minutes of waiting the urge to leave and help was getting stronger. He needed to help. He was just about to go out the door when Twilight rushed over and stopped him. “And just what do you think you’re doing?” Twilight blocked the doorway.
The vet rolled his eyes. “I thought it was pretty obvious. I’m going to go help.”
The rancher shook his head. “Time gave you an easy task. To stay here. Why are you so insistent on making a choice that could get you hurt, or killed? That’s not helping anyone.”
“B-but…” Legend’s protests stuck in his throat.
“That’s not helping anyone.”
“Bully.”
The veteran stared at the ground, trying to make a retort, prove that it was better that he did go but nothing came out. The ranch hand crossed his arms and leaned against the door, as if Legend would try to rush out now. Soon the others came, armed and ready to go. The rancher opened the door and the vet followed everyone silently. Hyrule nudged him as they walked to the camp. “You okay?”
Damn it of course his sweet successor would notice. “Yeah.” Legend nodded.
The traveller didn’t seem that convinced but he didn’t say anything. They crept to some bushes near the camp. “Four Moblins from
Hyrule’s era. Two red Wizzrobes from Wild’s era. Ton of Bokoblins from Wind’s era, and a…Lizalfos with an axe?” Time guessed.
“Daira.” Hyrule muttered.
“Weaknesses? Things to look out for?” Four prodded.
“That axe can go through shields. The Daira will throw it. Long range weapons are our best bet.” Hyrule advised.
“Wild, I suggest you fire arrows at the Daira. If it throws its axe at anybody, dodge don’t block.” Time commanded.
The champion nodded and climbed up a tree. “Two of us should go after the Wizzrobes, always keep an eye on them.”
“I can.” Hyrule and Four said at the same time.
There was an awkward pause before Time cleared his throat. “Yes, both of you can. The rest of us can do with the Moblins and the Bokoblins. Do not take more than one Moblin at once.”
The veteran readied his sword, unsheathing it. “Let me distract them first.” Wild called in a whisper-shout.
The monsters looked at the trees, but then looked back at their fire. The cook shot an arrow at the ground near a tree, far away. The Bokoblins and Moblins went to inspect it while the Wizzrobes looked up where the arrow had been shot. Hopefully, Wild wasn’t caught. “On three.” Time whispered.
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three!”
They all leapt out of the bushes and Legend sprinted over to the Moblin with the pitchfork holes on its side. He sliced his arm clear off, and sure enough, black blood spilled out. The Moblin let out a roar and turned around, eyes fierce and hungry for revenge.
The veteran dodged a spear and ran up it, standing on the Moblin’s neck and slashing the monster’s neck repeatedly. The Moblin wailed and flung Legend off its neck. The vet landed on his neck but he got up before the spear could pierce his chest. He let out a battle cry and as Fi began to glow he impaled the beast. The Moblin whimpered and fell to the ground, disappearing in a puff of smoke. The only remains of the monster was the black blood staining Legend’s tunic. He turned around just in time to miss a sword.
Another Moblin, snarled and picked up its dead friend’s spear. It wielded both the sword and the spear. Legend dodged both weapons with a hint of fear. He had never seen a monster double-wield like this. His resolve hardened an he grabbed his ice rod and froze it in place. He was running to lunge at it with his sword when agony reached his chest and he stumbled to the ground.
Someone cried out his name. He had no warning when he was suddenly flung across the battlefield and he landed on the cold, bloody ground. He screamed, as his chest burned. He spotted the Moblin raising his sword to finish the veteran and Legend whimpered and tried to move but his limbs refused. He closed his eyes, heart racing as he readied himself for the blow.
It never came.
Instead he heard the beast roar in pain and the battle cry of the skyloftian. Soon something picked him up and there was a hand on the wound in his chest. “Legend?” Someone said frantically.
The vet managed to open his eyes a little and he could see the chosen there. “You’re going to be okay.”
Sky reached to hug him, and Legend could see the tears streaming down his face. The vet coughed, a thick warm substance spilling from his mouth. Blood? That isn’t good.
“Time has the healing supplies.” Sky bit his lip, looking worriedly at Legend. “TIME COME HERE!” Sky shouted.
Sky? Oh yeah Legend was going to apologize to him. Realizing he might not make it he took a breath. “I’m so-ory I was so m-mean to you…” He coughed again. “Sky…I was-wasn’t very nice…was I?”
He hadn’t pictured apologizing like this but he hoped it worked. The grip on him got tighter as Sky held him closer. “NO! Don’t ever say that! Y-You’re the kindest of us all.” Sky shouted.
Legend blinked slowly, surprised. That…That couldn’t be right.
“Bully.”
Sky was kind to say that. “I love you…Sky…” Legend slurred as his eyes began to droop even more.
“I love you too, Legend, so much.” The chosen replied.
Legend gave a small smile as his eyes began to close.
At least he got to apologize.
————————————————————
Sky heard footsteps and Time’s voice as the vet’s eyes closed. “Vet, stay awake. Legend, please.” Sky begged.
The vet’s head rolled to the side, his mouth not opening or moving. The old man pulled out a fairy, both of his eyes open. “I couldn’t get here. The monsters were blocking my path.” Time panted.
The skyloftian’s heart twisted painfully. He grabbed Legend’s limp wrist and searched for a pulse, only to find nothing. The vet wasn’t breathing either. Sky let go of the veteran, kneeling beside him. Sky remembered his knight training and he put all his might into chest compressions, trying to revive the vet. After what felt like forever, he heard a small weak gasp and Sky stopped. “Fairy!” Sky cried out.
Time uncorked the bottle as quickly as he could and the fairy flew out and noticed the bleeding out hero. The fairy circled Legend and the wound glowed a bright pink before it was gone. Sky picked up the veteran and thanked the fairy who chimed and flew away. The battle was done, when Sky checked. “I’m so sorry.” Time choked out.
The chosen swallowed. “It’s not your fault.”
If only Sky could’ve done something. The old man scoffed and left to tell the others what had happened. Then they began walking back to the inn.
In those moments before Legend had died he had apologized, said he was mean.
Where in Hylia had that come from?
The Legend he knew was soft, with a guarded exterior. He had once seen the vet with a bunny. Legend had scooped the animal up gently cheeks burning but his violet eyes were  filled with happiness. He had also been kind to people, helping out whenever he could, lightening the mood, offering advice.
Why had Legend thought he was mean?
“Sky, come on.” Wind’s voice brought Sky out of his thoughts.
He came inside. The man from earlier was gone and the lady from earlier was talking to the innkeeper. She noticed everyone come in and gasped. “Are you all okay?”
Four nodded. “We all just need rest. The monsters are taken care of.”
“Thank you so much. Here, have this purple rupee.” The lady handed it to the smithy and looked worriedly at the vet. “What happened?”
“He took a nasty hit, but we got a fairy.” Time informed.
Well, Legend had also died but Sky guessed the old man didn’t want to worry the lady too much. “Well I hope he’ll be alright.” The lady hummed.
Sky nodded and began to carry Legend upstairs, and bumped into the captain. Warriors paled. “Sky?”
“I’ll explain later.” The chosen murmured and set Legend gently down on the inn bed.
He pulled out a chair and sat down, relief making his eyes sting with tears again. “Sky, you’re covered in blood.” Warriors said. “Go clean up, I can stay here with him.”
The skyloftian stood up, nodding and grabbed a spare tunic. He headed to the inn’s bathroom to clean the blood off, and he gagged at how much of the blood-Legend’s blood- was there.
He covered his mouth as a sob escaped his throat. Hot tears poured down his cheeks and he couldn’t stop them.
He had seen Legend die.
A knock. “Sky? S’that you?”
“Y-yeah.” Sky responded, voice thick.
“Can I come in?” Twilight asked.
“Mhm. Just washing off blood right now.” Sky answered.
The door opened and Twilight came in, looking concerned. The chosen turned on the water and began to wash the blood out of his hands and nails. “Are you okay? No wait that’s not a good question.” Twilight sighed. “How are you feeling?”
Sky watched the blood wash out of his hands and stain the water that was draining a foggy red. “M’fine.” Sky spoke softly.
“Don’t give me that.” Twilight tried.
“What do you want me to say?” Sky asked in a cold, icy tone.
He hadn’t meant to say it like that. “Sky.” Twilight didn’t seem to care though.
He stepped forward and hugged the chosen. “Legend’s going to be okay. It’s okay, Sky.” Twilight reassured.
Before Sky could stop himself, he sobbed. “Twi-he died.”
“I know. He ain’t dead anymore though. It’s okay.” Twilight continued.
Sky could still feel the blood on his hands.

Just a quick question: can it be any LU fanfic at all? Fluffy ones, angsty ones, they're all okay to suggest?
Yeah!
While I'm sure I'll do plenty of angsty and whumpy art (cus let's be real that's def my forte lol), this isn't like Whumptober where it's ALL whump.
Feel free to give me fluffy fics, comedy, hurt-comfort, etc as well🤭
