What I don't get about the password-sharing fiasco is....if it was the olden days and you rented a couple DVD/VHS movies, until you brought them back to the shop you could do whatever with them.
You could give them to other people to watch. You could show a movie to a group of ten friends. You had already paid for the tapes, so who was going to care what you did with them in that time?
Similarly, if you have already paid for a Netflix/Max/Dianey+/Paramount+/whatever subscription, you're getting charged monthly for that. The companies have already decided how much it is worth to rent their entire catalogue to you for a month.
So during your "rental period" for these movies and shows, who are they to say what you do with them? If you have someone over for Netflix and chill, they aren't part of your household, so should they not be able to watch a movie you are renting? If you want your friends to see something cool, who cares if they live a town away? That movie is still being paid for, and your "rental" will renew the following month when you pay your bill.
It feels like going to a video store, paying for a bunch of movies, then having to march back to the store with the friend who's going to watch them with you so they can also pay for the movies......while you're still renting them.

So I just finished young royals and Oof, what a show. If you haven’t seen it yet watch it because it’s great BUT ALSO can I please just take a minute to say I love how much all the characters just hug? There’s so many hugs? I love it. Of course it’s Wille and Simon the most, but I adore how much a normal gesture of intimacy it is for them all. It’s so sweet to see.
I actually also think this show kind of perfectly strikes the balance of Teenager™️ wherein you can’t focus for the following two scenes after kissing someone you like (shout out to that one post) but you can also do drugs and drink and fuck around and somehow these things are not mutually exclusive. Just honestly 10/10
AND the writers and director(s) give the characters so much SPACE. It is so unbelievably refreshing to not be rushing from scene to scene all the time like most American media does (and sadly UK media is heading the same way). Truly reflect for a moment and consider when was the last time you watched something that had so much silence in it, so many pauses, so much room to breathe? And by god do you need it, because all the characters are such forces coupled with the intensity of the plot that you’d be buggered if the characters (read: actors) were barrelling on a mile a minute too
I think it’s a really well written, INCREDIBLY well shot show and that more people should watch it

me when I'm a billion dollar corporation that figures out there is a possible way out of paying the artists, writers and actors involved in the shows on my streaming platform any residuals:
Tumblr media
"Disney Removes Dozens Of Series From Disney+ & Hulu, Including ‘Big Shot’, ‘Willow’, ‘Y’ & ‘Dollface’"
i don't believe any of the shows removed or being removed got any physical releases either so they're gone forever. after the hbo max events and now the current WGA strikes (and potentially the SAG strike too) this is definitely going to be a common occurrence now I believe.
Disney claims it's for "content curation" but there is a very big chance this may also be happening because if a streaming service removes a show or film that was a streaming exclusive and never got a physical release or was available on another platform, residuals do not have to be paid. anyways the rise of piracy shall come again
(obligatory "you guys weren't pirating corporate media before?" comment. I mean, I was! but I know many people weren't!)

In this episode we explore a relatively new subgenre of science fiction called Solarpunk, which aims to imagine better, more ecologically harmonious, futures on earth. In many ways Solarpunk is a reaction to both the real-world climate crisis and to the many apocalyptic visions of collapse filling our screens. Andrew Sage from the YouTube channel Andrewism joins host Jonathan McIntosh and friend of the show Carl Williams for this conversation.

I've heard some people say to "just watch shows without sex" and that kind of stuff, but never any actual suggestions. and while I do think it should be allowed to show love, sexual, romantic and otherwise, I do have the impression 99% of media that isn't made for 7 year olds has romance, crushing and/or sex and even some of the stuff made for 7 year olds has it. especially if you count any romantic relationship shown or married people, but even if you ignore that.
do people have any recommendations of media (especially TV series) WITHOUT any sex, romance and crushing? (ideally without partnerships shown, but idk if that exists)
I haven't yet found anything that's in any physical store or library or streaming service, only Amazon books (I'm not getting something in the mail from outside my country the tax for that is like 100%).

the six types of friends within found family tropes (according to me)
I came up with this in bed at 2 am... enjoy(?)
the gay one
the “I know this plan is gonna turn out bad but i’m still gonna go through with it”
the “if i don’t have a sip of alcohol in five minutes i’m gonna kill myself”
the “i swear guys THEY'RE the one...”
the “i have underlying mommy/daddy issues and i need to see someone about it”
the “how can i scam my way out of this”
(these can overlap)

I've wondered this for a bit – but what's the "time" for some of the characters?
For example, for characters like Bojack and Jesse, what season are they portrayed in the fic?
(This sounds like pure nonsense, but I'm genuinely curious.)
Don’t worry, I’ve been asked this a few times before. I’ve never really went into detail here though, so I don’t mind sharing all the “time”s I yoinked the cast from:
Hayasaka, Kurumada & Mai -> non-asunaro death game AU (these guys are a big exception lol)
Walter & Jesse -> around mid-season 2 (after episode 9)
Saiki & Kaidou -> since their anime is episodic (aka non-chronological), I don’t think a time is necessary. For clarity however, they are post season 2
Retsuko -> post season 3 (we started planning the fic before season 4 and 5 came out)
Natsuki & Yuri -> Post-established literature club (which includes the side stories from DDLC plus)
Hiroshi -> post Ao Oni 1
Brian -> post game, ‘Stay with me’ ending
Bojack -> mid-season 5 (post episode 6)
Latte -> post ‘Light the Beacons’ and ‘On Graduation Day’ stories (she doesn’t have much deep cookie run lore)
L -> post episode 24
Ena -> as the episodes have no continuity, a time period isn’t needed
