i dont want a love like the movies. i want a love like they have in sitcoms. playfully roasting each other. every one teasing us when we're together. slowly becoming best friends. like Jake and Amy from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or Jonah and Amy from Superstore, or Phil and Claire from Modern Family, or Ben and Leslie from Parks and Recreation. Movies say 'happily ever after' but sitcoms show you the after. I want a love like the sitcoms

DC Comics Incorrect Quotes Pt 129
Tim, reading a book: No way! *gasp* Oh my god!
Jason, reading the same book: Knock it off!
Tim: Mind your own business.
Jason: I would love too, but now I'm wondering if all that gasping is about something I already read or something coming up.
Tim: I'm on page three hundred and twelve.
Jason: Don't tell me that! Now I know there's a gasp coming in twenty pages.

In the world in which "things are horrible and will never improve for the better" is the defining characteristic of "grimdark", a lot of long running sitcoms qualify for the position.
You look me in the eye and tell me that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia takes place in a universe where hope exists.

something interesting is that in sitcoms the characters usually live in incredibly close proximity (either down the hall, in the same apartment, in the same neighborhood) to each other, but as a way to indicate “growing up” they move away. friends, how I met your mother, new girl….. but they’re almost always not as content after the move, and miss what they had. almost as if a close community / an immediate support system is beneficial & romance is not the only type of intimacy
