fun, upbeat, the mv has a nice laid back "aesthetic" feel to it. the only ppl who didnt like it were miserable newjeans stans! 😭

its cunty! catchy! i definitely got it on the first listen! (points off for the yummy yummy yummy in your tummy tummy tummy line tho)

if u hate this song you hate fun tbh! the thing i loved about this song is that it felt less like a debut song and more like a comeback song. we love you viviz.

7. good boy gone bad - txt

i had to pretend like i didnt get it on the 1st-and-a-half listen bcuz i was still very much in my txt anti era. but now im normal so i can appreciate what this song means to me ❤

6. jikjin - treasure

why were so many people pretending like they didnt fuck heavy with this song. perhaps broaden your mindset like. [korean korean] jikjiiiiiiinnnn woooooooooooooo. anw it feels like pop rocks to my brain and in the best way possible so its here.

thats gay clubbing music baby! something about this song feels so... not 2022. more like i opened a time portal and went back to mid-2017. idk why. but i love that vibe.

the lyrics, production, that violin, everything about this song was an instant hit. no im not just saying that because blackpink was my first group. their comeback this year ate and served cunt severely. we love you blackpink.

3. 2 baddies - nct 127

i like thot music! the way ppl complained about it was so 😭😭 its an nct song what were you expecting. shut up. you either rock with it or you dont. like the song was made BY baddies FOR baddies. so if it isnt hitting...

2. pop! - nayeon

ms. im nayeon put the POP in kPOP with tjis song! and it was her SOLO DEBUT? PLEASEEEEEEE........ i love the girly cutesy bubblegum-y fun of this one. so. so. so. much. like everything about it SO iconic. she not only solidified herself as a capable soloist but as a pop princess too!

are you surprised? im an exol after all! but fr this song had me GAGGED since the mv TEASER dropped! everything about it is so good, the beat, the lyrics, the vocals... everything! when it comes down to the mv minseok had $10 and a dream but he still made it work. that song was MADE to be a hit!! when i heard it i knew NOTHING ELSE released this year was gonna top it!

BUT on the whole i think i would prefer to be the lead creative director for a group i'd LOVE to really be behind the overall look and aesthetic of a group's concepts !!

I still have the most persistent cough but I thiiiiink it's on its way away. At least I hope so ;-; Also I've been quite busy so it's taken me some time to answer your ask oopsie

So about your question...

For monsta x I don't really have one favorite era sound-wise, though I recently saw the mv for rush hour and thought it looked really really nice.

My favorite ateez era is definitely guerilla. The punky-ness of the mv and the sound is *chef's kiss*. Also cyberpunk is probably one of their best songs ever.

I don't remember if I mentioned NCT127/U in my submission, because I've only recently realised that I am a fan. But pretty much not a single day goes by where I don't listen to baggy jeans at least once. And also the mv is so nice. the fashion? Yes. The colors? Yes. The sets? Yes. Jaehyun saying "baggy baggy baggy baggy jeans" in the first chorus? Triple yes. Maybe even quadruple yes..

Then I really, like really like the branding or whatever you wanna call it for stray kids' rockstar with the hot pink and cyan, though I only really like megaverse from the ep. As a whole, my favorite era of theirs is 5-star. The title track was good, the mvs were cool, the aesthetic was clean, and I'm actually able to name more than two non title track songs from the album. I'd be surprised if Item and super bowl don't make some form of apperance in my spotify wrapped.

I hope that answers your question and kinda gives you an idea of what I'm into. Also I'm curious: are our tastes similar in any way? :)

hello, sorry if this ask is random, but i really want to know if you have ever wanted to or have attended a kpop concert? Or do you engage much in kpop (for ex the trends and stuff like that)? Also when did you start listen to kpop? (I guess for most people, that would be around 2015?) Or your first kpop song(s)?

haha this is a random ask yes but no worries this blog attracts all kinds of queries.

i’ve never been to a kpop concert although i would love to since the performances tend to be very good from what i’ve seen. i used to follow kpop news more closely a few years ago (maybe 2017-19 ish) but i tend to not have the time/energy to be hyperfocused on stan activities so i was never out there beefing with people on twitter like a true fan. nowadays i still enjoy the genre but i don’t really know what’s going on beyond what my friends report back from the frontlines. the memes are good. i like some of the new it-groups that have emerged although i bravely believe some of them have truly horrendous popular songs (some live up to the reputation of kpop songs having legitimately the worst beat of all time, iykyk).

as for my introduction to the genre, i think beyond like gagnam style i first listened to kpop in 2016-17 ish, and my first ever music video was dope by bts (classic), which was my gateway into listening to their whole discography. i remember the first kpop comeback i saw was bts’ blood sweat and tears mv / wings era, which is one of my favorite kpop eras and albums. i was also very excited by blackpink’s debut at around the same time, although that tapered off over time unfortunately. and everything else sort of came from that. i was a deep triple H fan for the short while they lasted.

i think in general because i love to listen to music in different languages and from different places, despite kpop being a quite particular industry what with to the idol aspect and the careful roll-outs, aesthetics etc, it’s not so much of an effort for me to enjoy the songs and ignore the noise. like yes i am a yoongi bias but first and foremost i am a simple music listener.

anyways i hope this sated your curiosity, thanks for giving me something to sit and reflect on at the airport haha
