How much would you tip this waiter? Apart from your room number, your phone number etc.

I still say that it's possible they were brushing or holding hands before they were interrupted.

Rewatched Timeless since the finale took place the week of Christmas, 2023.
Tumblr media
This show frustrates me SO, SO much. So much.
They have Rufus, who is amazing. Especially when paired with Jiya. Seriously, Malcolm Barrett is a massive part of why this show went more than 6 episodes, and he has wonderful chemistry with Claudia Doumit.
They have Goran Visnjic who manages to play the villain with so much heart that you pay far more attention when he's on screen.
Goran and Malcolm are the two elements of why this show-- when it worked-- worked. The two of them had SO much charisma, so much put into their characters that no matter what was going on on the screen, you wanted to know what happened to them. You needed to know if they were okay.
They have Susanna Thompson, who aside from being a very compelling actor on her own, was stellar as the Queen Borg on Voyager.
They have Annie Wershching, who manages to play a villain without being absurd or over the top. (She also played the Queen Borg for Picard, but I really, really hate Picard. But I quite like Annie. RIP Annie.)
They had a main woman character who had agency, and a storyline of her own.
They have a creepy clandestine cult trying to destroy the world, that's always fun.
They had Sakina Jaffrey and Paterson Joseph, both of whom are enjoyable to watch.
They had Colman Domingo as a guest star playing Bass Reeves-- just before he exploded and became known to the world. As expected, he was brilliant every moment.
Sean Maguire guest starred in an episode, he was great as well. Karen David played a young Denise Christopher with excellence.
They didn't let Matt Frewer do an accent, so he was fine.
They have a time machine where they can go anywhere in time. How can you go wrong with this premise?
They have writers from Mad Men and The Walking Dead.
They have stories where they can focus on women, People of Colour and queer people who have all been forgotten in history. This is the key point on why the show should have worked-- the hidden histories.
This all could have worked. This should have worked. This fucking show SHOULD HAVE WORKED.
If they hadn't had a forced love story between the main woman character and the horrible, stupid, possessive toxic masculinity wrapped up in insecurity soldier boy.
Everything else about this stupid show worked. But they spent so much time focussing on a love story between the two most boring, most under-developed, worst characters on the show that they ruined it.
I don't know if it was Matt Lanter's acting, if it was the writing, the directing, I don't know.
What I do know is that every time Rufus, Jiya, Flynn, Denise, Connor and Emma were on the screen, I cared what happened. When Lucy was on the screen by herself, I cared less, but it was fine. When Lucy and Wyatt were on the screen, I zoned out. I came on Tumblr, I checked my emails, I replied to texts from friends. I could not care even a second every time they were on screen. When just Soldier Boy was on, I started to doze.
This show is SO frustrating. SO much of it worked. But not the bits they were so focussed on showing.
This show makes me mad sometimes. I'm mad at the lost opportunities, I'm mad for the moments that worked well and were never unpacked. I'm mad for all the episodes we could have had highlighting women, People of Colour and queer people forgotten through history. I'm mad that to get to all the great moments with Flynn, Rufus, Jiya, Denise, Connor and Emma, I have to sit through SO much crap with Lucy and Soldier Boy.
This show is like two different shows-- an interesting one with lots of great characters in interesting situations, and a horrible soap opera with the dumbest, most selfish, most bland white people ever that I wish would just die.
And then two minutes later, Rufus or Flynn is on scene and I care again.
This show makes me mad.

rewatching Timeless... in all its mediocrity, there are some super stellar performances (looking at you Abigail Spencer and Goran Visnjic), and Garcia Flynn just excels at everything. He is stunning in all his anti-hero/villain glory.

I think SCTV actually was very progressive. They did so jokes about things like lesbianism or sexuality, but it was never made out to be a big deal. Like in one of the Mel's Rock Piles in Season 2, I believe Dave Thomas and John Candy danced with each other on the show. And the joke wasn't about that, the joke was more just how awkward Mel was with addressing it. That's quite progressive for the late 70s and early 80s, in my opinion. I'll admit I have doubts as to if SNL could ever have pulled that off. They don't seem that progressive to me. SCTV was just better in every way.

People will often say, 'If you could be with Lincoln for dinner, what would you want to ask him? What would be the unanswered question?' And I know I should be asking him, 'OK, suppose you had not been killed, how would you have dealt with the South? How would you have dealt with Reconstruction and all the controversies that arose?' But I know that if I really had him for dinner one night, I would simply ask him, 'Tell me a story, Mr. Lincoln.' Because then I would see him coming alive. He laughed so hard when he told one of his funny stories, his eyes would twinkle. And then I'd know that the Lincoln I knew -- who was somehow able in the worst days of the war to dispel the anxiety of his Cabinet members by his humor and his life-affirming sense of storytelling -- then I’d know I would have seen him alive.
-Doris Kearns Goodwin, Presidential Episode 16
This was where I had to stop the Lincoln episode at the end of my commute, and as I pulled into the parking lot I said to myself, "Wow, that's lovely." A little schmaltzy, perhaps, but I think it gets to the core of why people study history. Sure, there's the intellectual impulse to analyze and understand events with the benefit of hindsight, but deep down, the heart of historical study is a desire to connect with people. To bridge the gulf of time and space and get to know people despite the fact that they lived in a completely different century.
History's not just dry lists of dates and names and theories. It's people. It's personalities. It's quirks and memories and stories. It's knowing that a historical figure isn't just a face on a monument, or a source of information, but a guy who can tell really funny stories. And I wanted to share this quote because it really understands the humanity of history in a way I rarely see expressed.

Rory Gilmore: The Original Downtown Girl
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When people think of Gilmore Girls they typically think of the show's staples. Coffee and junk food, the autumnal aesthetics, an extensive repertoire of pop culture references and quotes that define the livelihoods of fans everywhere - these are the things that make Gilmore Girls Gilmore Girls.
Fashion is slowly traipsing behind its sisters in the elements that create this outstanding show. Suffice to say, the lookbooks of the Gilmore Girls are stunning and character defining in many ways. From the elegant and 'old money' looks of Emily Gilmore to the wild and eclectic collection of clothes accumulated by Lorelai. Throughout the show, the bookish high achiever and kind-hearted Rory has a style that differs from the generations of Gilmores before her, and it is arguable that she defined an entire aesthetic of clothing in our modern world: the Downtown Girl.
The two staples of Rory Gilmore's style are long sleeved henley tops and low rise flare jeans. She usually pairs the two together with a pair of converse, creating a comfortable and casual look. Rory also is often depicted wearing long sleeved, tight fitting turtlenecks, thick oversized jumpers, cardigans and tank tops, alongside a mini skirt. Over the top of her plain yet pretty outfits, she often wears a zip up hoodie, trench coat or (most commonly) a corduroy, fur lined jacket. Overall, Rory's style is the epitome of the Downtown Girl aesthetic - cosy and simplistic whilst still retaining a fashionable allure.
Her colour palette usually comprises reds, browns, blues and white - a dark and autumnal scheme that compliments her dark brown hair and make her blue eyes appear more prominent. However, these aren't the only colours Rory wears throughout the show, with pink, green and yellow all also making the occasional appearance in her lookbook.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although most of her outfits contain solid, colour block pieces, Rory also can be seen frequently sporting floral or stripy tops alongside the occasional argyle jumper or plaid skirt. She doesn't usually mix and match these patterns, sticking to one per outfit which prevents her outfits from appearing jarring or too disjointed.
In terms of nightwear, throughout the show, Rory is shown to wear patterned button down pyjamas in a whole assortment of colours from beige to magenta. The unusual patterns that appear on Rory's pyjamas vary. They typically are of some kind of food (ranging from ice cream to donuts to pie) but a few are instead of other patterns, such as comic strips or snowflakes. Her eclectic pyjama collection displays Rory's personality perfectly, and further emphasises her similarities to her mother Lorelai and the often childish nature of their relationship.
Rory Gilmore will forever remain the original Downtown Girl, her outfits helping to formulate the style of a whole generation of Gilmore Girls addicts everywhere. Despite the fact that Rory (arguably) had a downfall in terms of her personality following season 3, it's safe to say that her outfits never fail to impress and will be admired for years to come.

Timeless Photo Stills
I know folks, you can't wait for those "Timeless" Screencaps!! 😂😁 I haven't yet received my Blu-rays of "Timeless" that I ordered through Ebay. I do have Timeless on DVD, but the screencaps are bad coming from a DVD, so I prefer waiting! BUT! In the meantime, I did add 95 Stills from "Timeless" S1 & S2. I'm quite impressed that I didn't have any issues with uploading pics to Picflow, I'm still having issues when I'm trying to upload a batch of 150 Screencaps though, urgh! I'm not yet done with adding all the stills from "Timeless" It is possible that I add more in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned!
The HQ Timeless Stills Gallery is 👉 Here
