thinking about how before Mobius, our Loki had no one besides his brother and mother. the first Thor movie established very, very clearly just how isolated and shadowed Loki had always felt. Thor's friends were never his; he was looked down on by all, always in the shadow of his brother. he kept so much inside for so, so long, because he had no one to turn to, no one to cry to, no one to just pour his heart out to and tell them how hurt he was feeling.
hell, the only one he had to tell about his accomplishments who wouldn't scorn him was probably his mother, and even then, who knew when he could be around her at all without Odin in the room to talk down on him? and after the Bifrost, when he let himself fall, he really, truly had no one.
and then he met Mobius, and Mobius was kind and saw something in Loki that he didn't see in himself, and he was gentle with him, and he listened to him, encouraged him, told him when he did a good job, worked alongside him as an equal, not treating him as a lesser.
Mobius, who was the first one who treated Loki as he deserved to be treated. Mobius, who was the first one to look at Loki and say I see you for who you are, and I love you just the same. Mobius, who cared.
why shouldn't Loki be selfish, when giving his Mobius up would be giving up everything?
