*With or without Lantash, it's at your discretion.
**Pete is not included, because we are all aware of where he stands. Also, non-canon ships are excluded for the sake of this poll. Hence there being no Daniel, Janet, or 'Other' option.

I'm just gonna call this post Major Evan Lorne and Agent Malcolm Barrett - So hot together.
Yeah, okay, they've never been in a scene together. Or an episode. But! Imagine if they were! Just picture it.
Agent Barrett, so...agent-y. And dedicated and stuff. Look, the NID is a sketchy organization! But he's an upright kind of guy! He's working to make it more upright too. Thanks, Agent!
I mean. Just look at him:
Tumblr media
Look!
With his nice suit and tie, all tidy and earnest, and maybe a tiny bit of snark, and his carefully unremarkable haircut (description courtesy of @chaos-monkeyy). He takes his job seriously! He's up for whatever's about to happen! Maybe that's tracking down aliens! Maybe that's tracking down humans who are up to something they shouldn't be up to, like kidnapping and unethical medical experimentation. Whatever! He's ready!
Tumblr media
Now, just imagine if he and Lorne met up. Maybe on the job. Maybe off the job. Maybe in an AU. So many possibilities!
Lorne! All serious and dedicated and stuff. And sometimes snarky! I mean. Look at that face! That's the face of a guy who's serious and dedicated, even when he's in the middle of a terrible nightmare about his CO and he's also sleepwalking. Sleepwalking fully clothed, but barefoot.
It's also the face of a guy who needs some downtime. Like. Immediately.
Tumblr media
No, Major, don't look skeptical! You totally deserve some downtime. Everyone knows it!
Tumblr media
Imagine if Lorne could get that downtime with nice, tidy, dedicated Agent Barrett? Mmhmmm. Yeah. It'd be hot. Burning hot.
In conclusion:
Tumblr media
Yes. Hell yes.

The great ⁦@malcolmbarrett⁩ says it in the minimum number of words necessary. ⁦@TimelessSPTV Some of the writers, actors and directors of ⁦@TimelessSPTV⁩ reunite on the picket line. The studios need to be less like Rittenhouse and more like the partners they claim to be to us. ⁦@WGAWest

Timeless: Rufus Carlin [INTP 6w7]
MBTI Type: INTP Rufus is extremely analytical and good at his job, which is to build, improve on, and operate time machines; he creates his own coding and expands the limitations of the machine, he points out the logical ramifications of everything they do, and he tries to remain detached and observant when they engage with the outer world. And, he does not really want to be involved in actual…

Print #3 - PREACHER
(Une de mes séries préférées, une technique pour tromper l’ennui au taff aussi -donc elle est bien plus simple que les autres- )

Every Episode of Timeless ⤷ 1x05 “The Alamo”
When I was young, I’d write stories about great heroes doing great deeds. The truth is, real heroes don’t look at all like I pictured. They’re far from perfect. They’re bull-headed, stubborn, reckless… and also recklessly brave. They charge in without a thought to themselves, not without fear or doubt, but in spite of it.”

A Short Ode to Timeless (NBC)
I first watched this show when it originally came out, and I'll be honest, I kind of forgot about it for a while. Until earlier this year, when parts of it started coming back to me---but only the weird parts, the parts that didn't make sense to me when I first watched it. This was why it took me months to finally decide that I needed to watch Timeless again, if only just to see all of the weirdness that I missed the first time. After all, it came out 2016-2018, how good could it have been? That feeling only multiplied when I realized Er*c Kr*pke was one of the main writers. Though I never watched SPN, I knew about it plenty from my friend who did, and I knew what kind of writer he was.
But then I sat down and rewatched. And I fell in love with each and every single character once again. I remembered the wacky plot points (the dead wife coming back to life and being evil thing, just for one example) stuff, the not-so-good CGI in places---I didn't remember how real each and every one of these characters felt. I didn't remember all of the scenes that focused on friendship instead of romance. I didn't remember (or maybe I just now started appreciating) that by the end of the series, these characters felt like a true family, despite their beginnings of being thrown together to fight a supposed terrorist. I even started liking Flynn. Originally, I couldn't see how everyone online seemed to love him so much. The second time around, though, it's safe to say that this man has firmly cemented himself as a great character, full of heartbreaking emotion and comedic relief, even when he didn't mean to (as Rufus said, "the creepy uncle" of the team). And though I still do adore Lyatt, I can also appreciate Garcy too now.
The ending of the show, with its slowed-down music of Time After Time, felt so much like something out of 2018, and yet it was still able to make me cry. The song fit with the shots of them just... living. Enjoying being with each other. Appreciating this weird, unconventional family that they had somehow come together to make. And it worked.
This show, though it was far from perfect, is truly one of the more emotionally charged, heartbreaking, hilarious, uplifting, depressing, and heartwarming shows that I have ever watched. I recommend Timeless to anyone who looks for that.

Malcolm Barrett, Abigail Spencer, and Matt Lanter in Timeless (2016) Atomic City
S1E3
Agent Christopher wants team Wyatt to eliminate Rufus's coworker Anthony, whom Flynn abducted while stealing the time machine. They only can track them to 1962 (in or around) Las Vegas, when atomic tests were routine near the future Sin city. Only posing as staff on site at a mob casino, they work out Flynn targets John F. Kennedy and mob king Sam Giancana's mistress Judith Campbell, and after she betrays Wyatt and escapes, realize that Flynn blackmails her, using intimate photographs, to help steal a plutonium core. Her fling with the Air Force base general enables her to access a secure nuclear facility. Shocked, Rufus finds that Anthony is Flynn's willing collaborator, working to destroy Rittenhouse, not why. Anthony seemingly hands the core to Rufus, who prevents Wyatt from killing him, but it's a decoy while Flynn escapes with the real core. Wyatt sends a telegram to his wife in fifty years, attempting to save her life in 2012, in vain. Upon their return to the present, Wyatt covers up Rufus' protection of Anthony; Lucy tells her patient fiance Noah that she needs time, hence moves to her mother's to clear her head. In the Nevada desert, Flynn and Anthony dig up the plutonium core, which they buried to avoid risky time-travel with it.
*Though they had divorced by the time she met JFK, Judith Campbell, the historical figure played by Elena Satine, was married to actor William Campbell, a recognizable face to Star Trek (1966) fans as the Q-like being Trelane in "The Squire of Gothos (1967)" and Klingon captain Koloth in "The Trouble with Tribbles (1967)".

Rewatched Timeless since the finale took place the week of Christmas, 2023.
Tumblr media
This show frustrates me SO, SO much. So much.
They have Rufus, who is amazing. Especially when paired with Jiya. Seriously, Malcolm Barrett is a massive part of why this show went more than 6 episodes, and he has wonderful chemistry with Claudia Doumit.
They have Goran Visnjic who manages to play the villain with so much heart that you pay far more attention when he's on screen.
Goran and Malcolm are the two elements of why this show-- when it worked-- worked. The two of them had SO much charisma, so much put into their characters that no matter what was going on on the screen, you wanted to know what happened to them. You needed to know if they were okay.
They have Susanna Thompson, who aside from being a very compelling actor on her own, was stellar as the Queen Borg on Voyager.
They have Annie Wershching, who manages to play a villain without being absurd or over the top. (She also played the Queen Borg for Picard, but I really, really hate Picard. But I quite like Annie. RIP Annie.)
They had a main woman character who had agency, and a storyline of her own.
They have a creepy clandestine cult trying to destroy the world, that's always fun.
They had Sakina Jaffrey and Paterson Joseph, both of whom are enjoyable to watch.
They had Colman Domingo as a guest star playing Bass Reeves-- just before he exploded and became known to the world. As expected, he was brilliant every moment.
Sean Maguire guest starred in an episode, he was great as well. Karen David played a young Denise Christopher with excellence.
They didn't let Matt Frewer do an accent, so he was fine.
They have a time machine where they can go anywhere in time. How can you go wrong with this premise?
They have writers from Mad Men and The Walking Dead.
They have stories where they can focus on women, People of Colour and queer people who have all been forgotten in history. This is the key point on why the show should have worked-- the hidden histories.
This all could have worked. This should have worked. This fucking show SHOULD HAVE WORKED.
If they hadn't had a forced love story between the main woman character and the horrible, stupid, possessive toxic masculinity wrapped up in insecurity soldier boy.
Everything else about this stupid show worked. But they spent so much time focussing on a love story between the two most boring, most under-developed, worst characters on the show that they ruined it.
I don't know if it was Matt Lanter's acting, if it was the writing, the directing, I don't know.
What I do know is that every time Rufus, Jiya, Flynn, Denise, Connor and Emma were on the screen, I cared what happened. When Lucy was on the screen by herself, I cared less, but it was fine. When Lucy and Wyatt were on the screen, I zoned out. I came on Tumblr, I checked my emails, I replied to texts from friends. I could not care even a second every time they were on screen. When just Soldier Boy was on, I started to doze.
This show is SO frustrating. SO much of it worked. But not the bits they were so focussed on showing.
This show makes me mad sometimes. I'm mad at the lost opportunities, I'm mad for the moments that worked well and were never unpacked. I'm mad for all the episodes we could have had highlighting women, People of Colour and queer people forgotten through history. I'm mad that to get to all the great moments with Flynn, Rufus, Jiya, Denise, Connor and Emma, I have to sit through SO much crap with Lucy and Soldier Boy.
This show is like two different shows-- an interesting one with lots of great characters in interesting situations, and a horrible soap opera with the dumbest, most selfish, most bland white people ever that I wish would just die.
And then two minutes later, Rufus or Flynn is on scene and I care again.
This show makes me mad.
