One of my favorite tropes is characters acting like a married couple even if they're not romantically together yet. It has me screaming because they already have such a comfort with each other and FRIENDS TO LOVERS WILL ALWAYS BE SUPERIOR IN MY BOOK

season 6 when Jess comes back to see Rory to show her his book, I can’t help but wonder what we didn’t see.
Jess going back to town telling Luke about his book. Luke embracing him and proudly saying he’s going to read the book. Luke then sitting down and explaining everything that’s going on with Lorelai and Rory.
Jess: what do you mean she dropped out of Yale?
Luke: Listen, I tried! I offered to kidnap her and take her there.
Jess: You should’ve tried harder!
Luke: no one can put sense into her, not even Lorelai.
it cuts to Jess just pacing in the driveway, but then he sees her face and he realizes, this is her life, he’s not going to interfere again. He’s going to respect her decision. So, he backs off in night one and just shows her his book.
Rory tells him she knew he could do it and he agrees. I love the parallel when Jess gets a chance to tell Rory he knows her too! (which makes me think Jess was right about them being together, when he asked her to run away with him).
But just before he’s about to leave he meets Logan and everything he tried to subdue comes pouring out: this isn’t you! Why did you drop out of Yale!
Then he remembers her birthday 🥹

I love the fact that people are fighting over which one of rory's bfs is the best for her yet we all collectively agree that lorelai belongs with no one else but luke.
