[Thursday Afternoon] [Brian Eno] [1985] [CD] The album "Thursday Afternoon" is not a soundtrack in the true sense of the word. It contains 61 minutes of music that Brian Eno created for a video production. This video is not to be compared with the usual way of looking at pop videos at the time. Brian Eno himself calls this video work "video painting". It is not the video itself that creates any changes, but the way of looking at it, i.e. how or where someone is in the room. It's similar to a painting, which looks different every time, depending on where it is viewed from. . That's why the music consists of only one piece that doesn't seem to change, depending on whether one lets oneself fall into the world of sound or perceives the sounds "only" as background noise. The choice to release this one piece exclusively on CD is also very important, in order to circumvent the limitations of vinyl. . . As is almost always the case, I am only interested in the music as such and not in the way it was created and what the artist wants to achieve with it. . Inconceivably, bad voices call "Thursday Afternoon" boring. I call "Thursday Afternoon" as great a masterpiece as his album "Discreet Music". . Whoever listens to and watches "Thursday Afternoon" in combination with the video can have a wonderful experience. . I prefer just listening, because that's the only way new fascinating worlds that I've never experienced before come into being in my head.

Not gonna lie - with more than 150 bills introduced in 35 states in 2023 that aimed to restrict student access to inclusive and diverse books and other library materials, the theme felt pretty radical.

And you DELIVERED. With the help of our Youth Voices (amazing queer youth activists from across the country), we compiled your amazing submissions of poetry, short essays and letters, visual art, photography, and more into Queerbook 2024. Like a yearbook, it captures what queer youth are feeling, going through, and hoping for - right here, right now across the U.S.

It's also no accident that it's the perfect small-ish size to stash in your locker or backpack so you can crack it open any time you're looking for some queer connection. :3
