Some proof that there ARE elected officials out there, like Vice Mayor Sean Cummings in Oklahoma, who are standing up for LGBTQ+ youth like Nex Benedict and calling out the fact that our words and rhetoric DO matter.
[Context: In this video, Sean Cummings is seen speaking to Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters referring to the death of student Nex Benedict].

It's time to fight back!
LGBTQ+ folks and allies, our rights are under attack. The ACLU, which tracks anti-LGBTQ+ legislation across the nation, has identified over 400 bills currently making their way through state Congresses and Senates. We must stand together against these horrific policies for the good of all queer people.
On March 31st, 2023, Queer Youth Assemble is planning protests across the nation to center youth voices and allow all queer people and allies to make their displeasure known.
Join us at marches in over 30 states (with more joining up every day!) as well as Washington DC. Turn up in large enough numbers so that legislators know that we will not stand for this.
Read and sign our List of Demands!
Find a march near you! Tumblr masterpost of marches can be found here!
Donate (we are raising money for transportation, organizing expenses, free masks, and ASL interpreters!)
Follow this page for updates and to see state marches featured.

I co-edited a new anthology!!
Becoming Who We Are is a kid-friendly collection of real stories about growing up, based on interviews with cool trans people from many walks of life, drawn by trans cartoonists!
We designed this book with middle-grade readers in mind, because my co-editor is a parent and wanted this book to exist for her own kids. The idea is to give all readers a chance to know and relate to trans people.
Preorder / back the kickstarter now! The book is available as a PDF, softcover, or a kickstarter-exclusive hardcover.

even though it’s silly how many times nick nelson says “i’m bi actually” in heartstopper season 2, the presence of that detail is actually so important because it displays the reality for bisexual people coming out, especially if they’re also in a relationship, because people will just assume you’re either gay or straight but like. i’m bi actually. and it just makes nick feel so much more real as a character and really builds on the preexisting sense of relatability already found in the show. in this essay i will-

For every bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, or anyone questioning that they might be attracted to more than one gender, your attraction is gonna feel different. Like when I'm attracted to a guy it's like mhhhh but when I'm attracted to a girl it's like ahhhh and when I'm attracted to a nonbinary person it's like oooooh. So it's gonna feel different and it doesn't mean you aren't attracted to that gender.

Zerui keeps talking about the difference between love and admiration but I think the bigger question is the difference between love and jealousy and between love and wanting to be that person and that's part of Chen Yi's struggle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is a queer youth who isn't sure who he is and he looks at his godfather and his second in command and he wants to be them but what's the difference between that and love? Where's the line between wanting to be that and man and his love and loving the man?
Tumblr media
(The line is the way he looks at Ai Di, the line is the fact that he loves Ai Di and wants him at his side, in his life, as his second in command and his second in everything but that line is blurry and painful and confusing and so, so queer.)

Queer youth autonomy protest!
Are you a queer person in the USA under 25 years old who wants to fight for their rights? Join the protest!
Tumblr media
The Basics
This protest is a nation wide protest happening at every state capital and in Washington DC. The date will be March 31st, but there's much to do before then.
The website is queeryouthassemble and the tumblr account is @queeryouthautonomy I am not the official spokesperson or anything like that I just joined the State March Committee and am very passionate :D
If you reblog this post please head over to the official blog and give them a follow and reblog their pinned post! I made it easy for you by tagging them
State Marches
To get information on the locations, times, etc of your local state marches be sure to check this map for changes. Alternatively here's a link to the state march masterpost by the official blog.
While DC and state capitals are the priority, other marches will be held in various places. So hopefully you can find one close to you that you can attend!
DC March
The DC march will be the biggest march and the focus. The goal is to get people from all fifty states to attend. The focus is queer youth, but anyone who cares about queer rights can attend.
If funds are available, hopefully queer youths' trips to DC will be covered for those who can't afford it.
The march path will be mobility aid accessible and the speeches will be accessible for HoH and vision impaired folks!
List Of Demands
The list of demands is now complete! Click here to sign, whether as an individual or for an org.
Committees
The committees are entirely led by queer youth. The committees help organize the protests. There's four committees,
General March Committee: Provides input and suggestions for the general march, helps create a list of demands.
Resources and Guides Committee: Creates resources for safe protests and walkouts, advertises the resources on social media.
Washington DC March Committee: Contacts orgs and politicians to contribute to the DC protest (the biggest protest)
State March Committee: Organizes protests in the state capitals, updates website with state marches information, advertising the state marches.
Here's a direct link to the committee info and sign up!
Walkouts
Along with the protests they're also looking to organize peaceful walkouts at schools nation wide for the goal of having schools become supportive of queer youth.
If you want to organize one at your school, I personally recommend working with your school GSA club (if you have one, if not maybe you'd want to work on organizing one!)
Alternatives to walkouts are available too, there's plenty other ways you can organize an event at your school if walkouts would be too difficult.
Here's a link to further information on alternatives to walkouts and walkout safety.
Donations
Donations are needed to fund the protests! If you've got some spare money and want to support queer youth, please consider donating here!
Organizations
While I doubt I have this kind of reach, especially on tumblr (maybe if enough people reblog idk), if any orgs see this and are interested in supporting the protests,
State orgs: If you'd like to help organize/support a march in your state capital (or other important places) there's a form for you to fill out here.
Nationwide orgs: Your platform is needed for advertising. To find some flyers or pamphlets to use, look here. (I used one for this post)

I came out to my friend as aroace (just casually in passing) but at first I just said aromantic, and he said, 'not asexual too?', I was surprised because he's cishet and still trying to shed his toxic masculinity so why would he know this? and I said 'well usually I don't say both, just one or the other, because no one knows what aroace means' and he just said 'you don't think I haven't watched Being Not Straight by @jaidenanimationsofficial???' and I just said 'dude I don't know what I expected of course you have' because I forgot he lives on youtube
Anyway here's the video you should watch it

Zinnia Jones (May 31, 2021). "Early use of masculinizing steroid oxandrolone in trans boys can add 2 more inches of height compared to testosterone." Gender Analysis. Live link. Archive.
The above blog post is about a study about looking for more suitable sorts of puberty blocking and hormone therapy for transmasculine youth. It found a treatment that is more effective for letting them grow up to be a couple inches taller, if they start it early, at age thirteen or fourteen. It's about this study:

Just a lil much-needed queer youth joy - we need to talk about these students and allies in Hawai'i!
Students from Campbell- Kapolei Complex Schools used funding from one of our 50 States 50 Grants to give SO much support to their queer communities.
They bolstered their GSA clubs, held community based education events like a Halloween party and craft day, and even got to attend Honolulu Pride - where Hawai'i-raised Bretman Rock showed up for a surprise visit and marched alongside the students to honor them and their work, having attended the same schools themself growing up!
So proud of these students for recognizing what they need in their own communities.
And lucky for y'all...apps are open for the 3rd season of 50 States, 50 Grants right now through April 1, 2024 - if you're a high schooler or middle schooler in the US/DC/territories and have an idea for how you'd use the funds at your own school, don't miss out on applying: 50states50grants.org

The text reads, “The queer & trans community has been upended by a series of devastating laws, detrimental legislation, and queerphobic attacks designed to make the lives of queer & trans youth as unbearable as possible. Each and every queer & trans youth serving org has  responded in their own ways, prompting walkouts, protests, legislative challenges, organizational statements, and other rebuttals in an attempt to swing the momentum. Now it’s time to unite our communities powerful work and collectively advocate for youth as one!”
