Whatever you think about Eren or his motivations or state of mind, I don’t think anyone can doubt that this would have been a…very intense…angry conversation. I don’t see Levi letting him off the hook for a single moment. This would be the polar opposite of Armin and Mikasa’s farewell. There’s a reason we didn’t get this scene. Because it just would have been Levi calling Eren a stupid piece of shit for a few hours straight.
In that convo, the blood on the ground is all Eren’s. 😂
When I posted this,

It was not supposed to be a ship 😭 I do not ship levi with anyone personally, so my bad on that! I'm curious to know what his goodbye was to everyone else.

There’s a lot here, and I’m about to crash, and we have two very different interpretations of the same story. Which happens. I think both are valid, honestly, but I’m pretty sure you’re gonna fight me on this one to the end. But let me ask you one thing…why show alternate universes in the Paths like goth Mikasa or the whole infamous steam room scene? Why would the Attack Titan have the ability to send memories back if it had no purpose? Why have Eren tell Grisha to kill the founder? Wasn’t the point of that to illustrate that Eren was manipulating things to whatever extent he could? What was Ymir’s reason, if Eren couldn’t change it? Ymir created all of the Eldians.
Again, I’m not justifying Eren’s actions. He’s wrong. Unequivocally. But I think his motivations and thought processes were different from what you think. I also have always seen that scene with him saying freedom while stomping people as him using his desire for freedom to cope with what he felt he was supposed to do.
When Eren gets his first glimpse of the future, he literally tells Historia to kill him. He is the picture of someone who doesn’t want to encounter his future.
I also don’t think Armin’s book showed him an empty world, just parts of the world he hadn’t seen before and believed was impossible. Just because he wanted to see the ocean does not say he wanted to see it devoid of human life. His disappointment of there being more people who wanted to hunt the Eldians, was more about him beating the enemy, only to discover another enemy, which is just fucking exhausting. I would be disappointed too. But Eren’s entire personality changes from that point on. He’s clearly miserable even as he moves through the motions.
He is a slave to freedom. That is true. The question is more why. That’s where I think we differ. Ymir’s rage is the Attack Titan, and Eren was the last one, potentially informing all the ones before. And yes, he wanted his people to be free at all costs but he knew he couldn’t be free. Not with that future before him.
A better person would have refused to do what he saw in the future. If someone told me that was my future, I would have tried everything, ANYTHING, else. Eren wasn’t a better person.
lol, I said I wasn’t going to write much, then wrote a book. Im having neurodivergent burnout and it’s special interest vs. not wanting to type. But this is my take on it, anyway.
It's cute how I keep seeing people claiming Eren did it all for his loved ones, because he "just wanted to keep them safe and give them long, happy lives", meanwhile, this little fucker literally murdered his own mother to ensure events would play out exactly as he needed for him to end up with the power to enact the Rumbling and wipe out 80% of humanity. He does it all knowing Sasha is going to die, knowing Hange is going to die, knowing Levi ends up disabled, knowing he's going to get countless other Survey Corps soldiers killed, knowing he steals away everyone's agency by forcing them into a conflict they were actively trying to avoid, directly placing them in harms way and forcing them into immeasurably traumatizing actions and experiences. But, yeah, he did it for his loved ones.
People really don't use their brains when talking about this story.
Eren literally admits the real reason he did it to Armin and Ramzi both, that he wanted to, that he had to, not for anyone else, but for himself. The very fact he throws his arms wide while crushing innumerable people underfoot, smiling, and saying "Freedom" is all the proof you need that he didn't do what he did for anyone but himself, and yet people still try to make this claim that he did. It's really unreal.

We’ll have to agree to disagree here. The Lost Girl OVA and what it says about Mikasa’s headaches, the alternate dimensions in the paths, the cabin scene where Eren did nothing and could have retired happily with Mikasa but knew danger was still coming all suggests the existence of other realities, other ways things could have gone.
You might believe Eren just wanted to do it, but Eren’s desire for freedom was about not having to fear being caged by others.
If Eren could make things go however he wanted, why didn’t he just stop everyone from stopping him? Also, if you pay attention to parts in Season 1-3, Eren regularly speaks in a totally different, way more violent manner, as if Eren S4 is speaking through him.
One particular time is when he kills the men to save Mikasa and when Grisha asks him about it, what does he say? I didn’t know how else to save her. He says it helplessly. Like he had no choice.
Or when he starts punching himself in the face and demanding he stop being so useless, or when he vows to Mikasa that he’ll wrap her in her scarf however many times it takes before he punches Dina Fritz.
Rewatches have made me a lot more sympathetic to how much Eren was struggling. His story is tragic. He’s still a selfish bastard, but he didn’t really have a chance. What could he do? He was destined to be an agent of destruction. Gifted with Ymir’s rage and destined to be the person who enacted it. He was the final Attack Titan and his obsession with freedom was birthed from her slavery.
It’s a lot. And people forget he was a child when all of this fell upon him. He was a completely broken person and everything that was taught to him on his journey was that he was the key to the future of humanity. He was doomed from the start.
I’m not sure I agree here. If everything happened exactly the way Eren wanted it, why does he get killed?
And if AoT isn’t a time loop, how does Eren change his own catalyst? He would have to exist already and become the attack titan to influence his father.
Also, the world was coming for Paradis anyway. That’s why the walls were knocked down to begin with. There was no escaping that the island had natural resources the world wanted, that the rumbling and the founder was always a threat, and that Marley or another world power was always going to attack.
Hell, when the Titans are destroyed and Eren is dead, the world is still destroyed by war.
The cycle continues. But that time, it’s after Mikasa and Armin have died safely from old age.
It's cute how I keep seeing people claiming Eren did it all for his loved ones, because he "just wanted to keep them safe and give them long, happy lives", meanwhile, this little fucker literally murdered his own mother to ensure events would play out exactly as he needed for him to end up with the power to enact the Rumbling and wipe out 80% of humanity. this is a way better model... you'll still get transphobic & intersexist drs of course but i prefer this to male / female or even having separate questions for gender & sex.
[we can't see the full form, but i'd suggest having a "something else" option and dominant hormone question too.]

Ohhh Read Invictus by Ryan Graudin. Time Travel story with a costumer on the ship. :)
tv shows with time travel organizations/bureaus/police/agencies/whatever should have a department with instead of a tech genius eating candy, it’s a harried seamstress or fashion designer who is like
“1450 italy? does it look like I have the time to dye you wool? nO. YOU’RE GOING TO THE 1980s”
and throws shoulder pads at the hapless time agent
