Whumptober day 20: dehumanization/stockholm syndrome/master and servant (full under the cut)
Find the royal au masterpost here
Tumblr media
In his efforts to wear Abram down to breaking, Prince Riko adopted a slightly different technique into his repertoire: respite. Abram didn’t get a place at the table - eventually most of his suppers were spent underneath it, sitting beside Riko’s chair and occasionally being relegated some scraps. As long as Abram didn’t act up, retaliate, or otherwise rebel against the treatment, Riko would simply leave him alone. One of precious few times he wasn’t in danger of being harmed for others amusement.
The first time Abram was too weak to fight back or make a comment or move much at all, Riko found a whole new kind of amusement in having begun to properly “train” Nathaniel. And it kept on like that. Anytime Abram was too overwhelmed, hurt, sick, or whatever else, he at least knew he’d get a couple hours of rest at the end of the day if he allowed Riko the satisfaction of a quiet supper with his loyal plaything.

Teen Titans Review: Annual #2 Part 2
August/26/2020
Part 1
Tumblr media
This again pushes the narrative of Damian as the angry aggressor with no self-control nor a ability to be conscious of how his own actions hurt other people.
I am not denying that Damian hasn’t been extreme before or has a temper but if written correctly he would have enough awareness to feel guilt for what he did to Emiko and not act so aggressively towards Bruce.
Tumblr media
This is another section of the issue that I feel conflicted about how to feel about this for several reasons:
-> The things Damian says in these panels aren’t all false :
I wouldn’t be sincere in this review if I didn’t acknowledge the truth to Damian’s comparison. In the last two years real time the Wayne Manor has become a sort of coffin and tomb. A manor that only carries the echoes of those who used to live there.
After a while, I could imagine it would be distressing to visit the Manor because it would remind them of the people who weren’t there anymore.
-> I fear Anti’s will look at these panels and try to justify Damian as a bad person:
I asked my older brother (Who doesn’t know much about comics besides the bit I tell him) to read the interactions in this issue and give me his opinion on them.
“To me it feels like the writer is trying to show Damian is conflicted and not in the right headspace therefore showing him erupting into a fight with Bruce violently but...I can definitely see how someone who doesn’t like Damian could turn this narrative against him.”
And I agree with him. As much as dislike these direction in writing for Damian, I do see what Thompson was trying to do here (and since the beginning of the run). It hasn’t been executed well, but he has been trying to get the reader to sympathize with Damian (more than Glass that is).
And I believe it is trying to show that Damian is at his wits end, not thinking right-well-I mean-Damian hasn’t been thinking right in TT since 2018, but I guess he’s really not in the right headspace.
But I have the same fear that my brother mentioned, if you look at these same panels through the same lens of someone who doesn’t particularly like Damian you look at this and think is horrible. I can already imagine what they’d say:
“Look at how badly Damian treats his father!”
Although your supposed to look at this as Damian having a outburst after keeping in it for so long and not being emotionally-neglected by his father.
“Alfred’s death was hard for Bruce too, Damian needs to stop acting like he is the only one who is hurt.”
Even though Bruce is an adult and Damian is a teen(a severely-damaged one at that) and you know...BRUCE DIDN’T COMFORT DAMIAN AFTER ALFRED DIED...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this further expressed in Detective Comics where Damian causally mentions that he is surprised that his father contacted him.
Tumblr media
Like...um...Damian is a 13-year-old boy...are you really telling me Bruce hasn’t contacted his own underaged son especially after Alfred died?
“Dick just got shot and lost his memories. He didn’t die. Why is he acting like he died?”
I talk more about Damian’s and Dick’s relationship here.
But to put it simply, Dick is one of the only people Damian trusts to be vulnerable with. Damian is extremely independent yet depends on him the most. This is expressed many times in the beginning of rebirth (specifically in the Nightwing and Batman comics). Losing that connection is extremely damaging to Damian.
Tumblr media
Moving on, I actually appreciated this scene with Crush. I happy that she kept the group from intervening between Bruce and Damian.
With the track record of how “great” the Teen Titans are at handling situations them getting in the middle of the fight would’ve made this worse.
Plus I liked that she recognized that this was something personal. So far, I’ve felt like the majority of the Teen Titans have antagonized Damian and it felt refreshing to see Crush realize that Damian’s actions are more personal than they thought.
But at the same time, I don’t know how to take this. I feel like they also wrote this in order prop her up to be the new leader in the next issues so at the same time it feels a little insincere.
Tumblr media
I already said this in part 1 of the review but I am grateful for the decency DC or Thompson had to give us some personal reasonings for his actions, but again, it doesn’t work as a good trigger nor does it hold the same hype it would’ve if written earlier when it happened, not months after it happened.
Tumblr media
One of the only things about these panels that I have to say is  that I saw some people theorizing on twitter that perhaps Damian was expecting to be punished by his father because of how his other brothers have been treated by Bruce. But I really don’t know myself how to interpret it.
Why is Damian questioning why Bruce isn’t fighting back?
-> Was he expecting Bruce to punish him?
-> Was Damian expecting  his father to challenge his new beliefs?
Because Bruce doesn’t really challenge Damian’s beliefs at the end, if anything, it seems like Bruce gives up trying to reason with Damian.
Which is sad if you look back to this panel in Batman and Robin 2011:
Tumblr media
Jumping back on track, and then we have this panel:
Tumblr media
Which is yet again another panel that I feel conflicted about.
I guess it’s nice Bruce finally told his son that he loves him, but also it’s a little to late now. Bruce should’ve expressed compassion to Damian when he had the chance, and he had a lot chances to do this:
-> On his 13th birthday.
-> By being more involved in his life.
-> When Dick got shot to remind Damian he had someone there for him despite Dick not being there.
-> When Alfred died in front of him. That was most likely traumatizing for him, would’ve been nice to have someone there to comfort him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like I keep repeating myself, but again, this four pages are difficult to interpret.
 “Everything...lead...to...THIS”
-> I’m taking this as Damian concluding that being Robin (and everything that encompasses including the no killing rule) lead to him losing people he loved and eventually not being Robin.
“You will never truly see me so long as I am in your shadow.”
-> Damian thinking that Bruce won’t take him seriously if he is Robin?
-> Thinking that Bruce won’t ever truly see who he really is if he is Robin?
“Now I am finally free.”
-> Damian implicating that being Robin was a burden and/or restricted him from doing what he thinks is “right?”
As a Damian stan the last four pages were the most painful to read. Seeing Damian leave the Robin title frustrates me soo much.
Conclusions and Predictions:
-> This issue was not as bad as I thought (but still bad):
For one, I am glad Bruce didn’t beat up Damian.
I am glad they had the decency to give Damian more personal reasons to go down this path even if it was late.
-> (I’m gonna start talking about the art more in my reviews)
Pansica is a very talented artist BUT I personally don’t think he was the best choice to draw a comic with teens. The adults in this issue were drawn great but I feel like drawing teens is not his strong point.
There was points in this comics were Damian looked unpleasant and I think it was because Pansica tends to be very detailed although a lot detail does a disservice to drawing teens. As a artist myself, I lay off the details when drawing children since it often ages them more if you put more detail.
Maiolo’s colors are good. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision or not but the dullness of the color really emphasizes the darker vibe of this issue.
-> Thompson didn’t fail me this issue, he still manage to make me hate Roundhouse more than last issue :)
He also really pushed that unnecessary Emiko X Wallace ship in the middle of this issue. I think the bothers me about this relationship is that they gotten closer because of Damian killing. I really don’t vibe with that.
-> Bruce just suddenly offering a hug after giving Damian death stares at the beginning just confuses me.
-> Teen Titan’s didn’t ever take Deathstroke go and basically let him go unless he’ll be appearing next issue.
-> So far Damian sucks as being a villian/anti-hero, he failed both at killing KGBeast and Deathstroke.
-> Hate that once again, most of the blame was thrown at Damian.
->To Damian, being Robin was the best thing to happen to him.
Tumblr media
It allowed him to see the mistakes in his past(that he was made to do) and work towards becoming a better person...in other words, it granted him an opportunity to redeem himself.
Not only that, but it granted him the opportunity to honor the people who helped him become a better person (Dick and Bruce).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even Damian felt like he needed to “prove” that he could be Robin because I think even Damian felt like he didn’t deserve it or wasn’t good enough.
Tumblr media
What this comic has done with him is atrocious and will always be no matter the outcome.
I have a petition related to Damian here. I would appreciate it if you shared and signed.

Daminette December day 11- Snowglobe and 12- Soulmate au
@daminette-december2019-2020
Okk sooo like I said I wanted to make a separate lil one shot for this one because I have a nice lil idea in mind and my medieval au does not work with the snow globe and soulmate thing so I decided fuck it.
Also Tim isn’t it the series yet so I decided to do some brotherly shenanigans that included him.
This one shot actually worked out really well like I love it.
I get to be slightly more… hmm what’s the word?... stupid?
It’s the writing on skin, appears on soulmate's skin, soulmate au btw.
Honestly I love this, it did not go as expected lmao.
Anyway I hope u guys enjoy this!
Previous- Princes and Pedestals Chapter 10
Next- Princes and Pedestals Chapter 11
The Permanent Marker
The first time Damian saw a snow globe it had been during a fight with Tim, who'd decided to throw him with it.
It was safe to say that the item that was thrown ended their fight. The side made of ceramic hit his arm. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it landed on the floor, the glass shattered. The tiny fake snowflakes scattered all over the place.
Before then he had only heard of one thing that, in his mind, worked similarly…
“Drake, I will skin you alive!” he said jumping on his brother, Jason pulled him off and held him back, “Todd! Release me at once! The imbecile just attacked me with a glitter bomb!”
The entire manor went silent for a few seconds before they all burst out laughing.
To this day, he was still being teased about it. Even though the incident had happened years ago.
It resulted in him having quite the distaste for snow globes.
So imagine his annoyance when he woke up four days before the anniversary of The Incident with a picture of a snow globe on his hand.
As if that didn’t make the message clear enough, there was a snow globe and a glitter bomb on his bedside table, each labelled mockingly.
He growled and turned his gaze back to his hand.
He had no idea how his brothers had managed to draw it on him without waking him up but he was absolutely livid.
His soulmate must be incredibly confused as to why there was a crudely drawn snow globe on her hand.
He got up and stomped to the bathroom, washing it off. He got ready and walked angrily to the dining room.
He found them all there and when they saw his sour expression they burst out laughing.
He glared at them all through breakfast, his temper far shorter than usual.
He just hoped his soulmate wouldn’t ask about the snow globe or better still, that she hadn’t seen it.
Every morning for the next two days, he woke up with an ugly little snow globe on his hand. And each morning he would wash it off.
He was bordering on the edge of murderous.
Meanwhile in Paris, Marinette was in a similar state.
You see, for three days she had been trying to remember the damn stupid snow globe Alya had forgotten at her house over the weekend.
She’d drawn a nice little snow globe on her hand to remind herself. But apparently her soulmate was hell bent on not letting her return the damned snow globe.
Each time she drew the little picture, he would wash it off it sometime before she got home.
Because of course he would.
She knew he was a tidy person and he’d established that he had no wish to meet her back when they were small, but usually he at least didn’t wash off her drawings.
She huffed in annoyance as she rode the train back home.
It would’ve been easier to return the snow globe to Alya when they were still in Collegé Francious Du Point, where she lived only a street away. But nooooo, their lycee was far enough away that she had to take the train there and back. Just having Alya pick it up wasn’t as easy as it used to be.
She took out a pen and redrew her snow globe. He had already washed off the one she made earlier that day.
When she got home she realized that he had also washed off the one she made on the train. She huffed in annoyance and groaned.
Why was everything against her?
She eyed her drawer.
Maybe…
No, that wasn’t fair, she didn’t know why he erased the snow globe each time. There could be a very good reason.
Her pettier side didn’t care though. She was sick of him. He’d hurt her so much when they were kids, refusing to even try to get to know her. Not replying to any of her writing or doodles.
Eventually she stopped writing but doodles found still their way onto her skin. And they arrived at a silent truce of sorts, he would let her draw, and she wouldn’t expect anything.
Until now apparently.
Why couldn’t he just give her – give them - a chance?
Why couldn’t they just be normal? Why did he have to be such an ass? Why couldn’t they just write to one another?
She was reminded of the only time he'd written more than a few words to her.
The day she’d accidentally used the wrong kind of pen. The kind that had ink that didn’t wash off properly until after three days.
A permanent marker.
She didn’t known it was a permanent marker, and it wasn’t like she’d drawn anything too big with it. Just a medium sized heart on her wrist.
She was eight, she didn’t think it would be a problem.
Well apparently it was, because that day he let her have it. That day he made it clear that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with her.
But to hell with that.
If he wanted to break their truce, the weird set of rules they had somehow established…
Then so would she.
She stood and opened the drawer, she took out the permanent marker she hadn’t touched in years and removed the lid.
She smiled as she drew her snow globe again.
This time she would remember the snow globe.
And she did, the next morning she saw her snow globe still on her hand, slightly smudged, but there. She smiled victoriously.
She returned Alya's snow globe and spent the rest of the day on cloud nine. Maybe it wasn’t the nicest of things to do, but it wasn’t like he took her into consideration. She figured this, at most, made them even.
What caught her off guard however, was the neat writing in black ink that appeared on her wrist later that night
The words ‘I’m sorry’ were etched onto her skin in handwriting that she recognized as his.
You see Damian hadn’t noticed the sketch when he got home. Hadn’t noticed it when he’d put on his gloves for patrol or when he’d gone to bed.
He never saw it until morning.
He lost it when he realized his brothers had written on him with a permanent marker.
The one think he’d basically forbade her from doing all those years ago and they did it.
They crossed a line. And Damian made that perfectly clear.
By attacking them and beating them up until they apologized.
He still felt it was necessary to apologize to her.
For the permanent ink. But also for all the years of silence, for all the years of ignoring her.
He settled on a small ‘I’m sorry’ on his wrist and hoped for the best.
That tiny apology, though, opened up a line of communication between the two.
They started talking regularly, growing closer and closer through their words. Eventually they met and started dating.
They helped one another, through trauma and superheroing and liars and villains, they were there.
They became a dynamic duo, he helped her run her label while she did commissions and designed her days away.
They were happy, one of the success stories. And while they hung up the capes and cowls, they were always available for emergencies.
They would tell their children and their grandchildren the story of the snow globe. Dick, Jason and Tim often liked to take credit. Earning a disgusted ‘Tt' from Damian and a laugh from Marinette.
The moral of the story, Marinette always liked to say, was that sometimes even the smallest, insignificant thing could make the biggest, life altering difference.

4. Dark & Wild (08/20/2014)
6 months after, first full-length album
Track 1. Intro: What am I to You
Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, RM
~ It's the haikuu song
~ You know love songs are not my thing. But the intensity and melody is great wow
Track 2. Danger - TITLE TRACK
Produced by Pdogg, Thanh Bui, “Hitman” Bang, RM, SUGA, j-hope Written by Pdogg
~ This is so funny. Tae is so aggressive yo "why are you so mean to me why do you hurt me"
~ It's about a girlfriend who does not give them attention. This is not the relationship I imagined, why do you do this to me, why do you make me a fool, am I really your boyfriend here or are we doing some business. Aw it's quite sad actually (are there still relationships like this though where the guy is a martyr of a girl who neglects him, I feel like this is such a high school relationship.. anyway..) but the refrains just don't make sense, "you're in danger now why do you test me". Is it in danger of receiving more love, what?
I have only you, but why do I feel like you’re not with me
When I’m feeling sore, you ask, “are you mad at me?”
I wish a miracle happens so that you love me more than I love you
~ Recorded during American Hustle
Track 3. 호르몬 전쟁 (War of Hormone)
Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, Supreme Boi, RM, SUGA, j-hope
I’m eighteen,  I know everything I’m supposed to know that women are the best in the world
lmfao Jungkook
I become so sweaty and weak for no reason
.....
My baby Jin was singing this TT lmfao
Track 4. 힙합성애자 (Hip Hop Phile)
Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, RM, SUGA, j-hope
~ RM feels the most free and himself when he's on the beat. He wrote the melody btw. Hip hop is everything to SUGA. J-hope learned about himself as he studied hip hop. Names of their inspirations
Track 5. Let Me Know
Produced by SUGA, Pdogg Written by SUGA, Pdogg, RM, j-hope
~ This is it. This is the breakup song.
On this melody that has ended, I’m enduring by myself Now, tell me That it’s over, let me know
This part sounds like a desolate chant
Girl let me know Though I know that everything is already over So that my feeling doesn’t linger on Girl let me know please say anything
This like a painful cry
~ Is kinda sad. Especially Joon's part. I think this is one of the few times his part is last of the rap line. Joon sings here like in Road/Path.
Track 6. Rain
Produced by Slow Rabbit Written by Slow Rabbit, RM, SUGA, j-hope
~ One for the recommendations. ~ It's brilliant.
~ It's a gray world with gray people walking by slowly. The lingering feeling of emptiness among thoughts, or no thoughts, sounds louder in the background of droplets of rain hitting the window and the ground. After this downpour they're still the same people.. going by a day again. Continuing a journey through life while they dislike themselves.. at the moment.
Reflected in the puddle formed by now-stopped rain, I, looking even more miserable today, am drawn on the water
I, even when this rain stops, even when the clouds clear, am standing still just like how I am now Without saying anything, I look down at the world There, a not-so-beautiful me is looking at me
Jimin belts. He makes the lyrics more painful.
Track 7. BTS Cypher PT. 3: KILLER
Produced by Supreme Boi Written by Supreme Boi, RM, SUGA, j-hope
"Lazy" and being on top come up in both RM and SUGA's verses.
~ RM: Ouch. Spittin about incompetent rappers. ~ SUGA: Talking about arrogant no name rappers. Yup it's directed against those "senior" rappers who talk sht about them. ~ J-hope: "You should be too busy to slander me" Hobi says the same thing just not the word lazy, "who's standing above you, what"
Track 9. 핸드폰 좀 꺼줄래 (Could you turn off your cell phone)
Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, RM, SUGA, j-hope
~ Pretty straightforward lol just fng turn it off man. They must be so annoyed seeing how repetitive the chorus is.
~ This is the first song where RM and SUGA talks back at each other with opposing ideas like in Spine Breaker.
Track 10. 이불킥 (Embarrassed)/ Blanket Kick
Produced by “Hitman” Bang, Shawn, Pdogg Written by “Hitman” Bang, Shawn, Slow Rabbit, Pdogg , RM, SUGA, j-hope
~ K another love song. All their love songs so far have been centered around the girl being pretty. Heard nothing of the personality.
Track 11. 24/7 = heaven
Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, RM, SUGA, j-hope
~ Bruh these love songs were nawt stopping.
~ They'll have a date on a Sunday. The boys can't stop thinking about her.
~ The shoobidoowapwap song
~ RM sings the refrains lol. It's such young love. All night girl I think about you all night girl err ok
~ This is second to Tomorrow where SUGA sings the first part I THINK. Idk if I remember it correctly
Track 12. 여기 봐 (Look here)
Produced by Lee Ho Hyoung Written by Lee Ho Hyoung, Jinbo, RM, SUGA, J-Hope
~ It's fun. Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake kinda right. SUGA says it's modern and trendy.
~ SUGA sings first part again. I think these arrangements set the feeling of the song and they do it well.
Look here, don’t run away Because soon it’ll be you who wants me
uhh
Track 13. 2학년 (2nd Grade) So 4 More on ibighit??
Produced by Pdogg Written by Supreme Boi, RM, SUGA, j-hope, Pdogg
~ 2nd year of career. Last year they learned how hateful the world could be. They know it all. SUGA and J-hope were worried. Dc who you are, f off just let me do what I want. The song contains their feeling of ambition accdg to the album review.
~ Is it the first time SUGA is last? He gives the last blow.
Track 14. Outro: 그게 말이 돼? (Outro: Do you think it makes sense?)
Produced by SiMo, Supreme Boi Written by SiMo, Supreme Boi
~ ?? x nother breakup song
Does it make sense? Do you think it makes sense that our love would change so easily like this
[This felt like forever!]
[Cypher, Blanket Kick and 24/7=Heaven were written in the plane on the way back from Brazil.]

soulmate! park jihoon
okay in this au you have the “you see color once you meet your soulmate”
and gOD do you hate this method you have because what the heck you’re a fashion and design major
your whole life you’ve been working with clothes in black and white and shades of gray and you had to bust your ass to get into the top university in seoul for fashion
whatever mythical being it was that gave you this curse basically said a massive fuck you to your hopes and dreams like rip
in middle and high school you would literally people-watch in different areas and different cities to meet your soulmate
actually you didn’t give a fuck about who your soulmate was you just wanted to see color and work with it to produce high quality works
and end the shitty friend moments when you’re shopping with your pals and they go “hey should i get the blue shirt or the red one”
you: oh i don’t know andrea i think the slightly darker shade of fucking gray looks nicer
andrea: :DD
SO one weekend you’re looking around some stores in this mall and searching for inspiration for your next piece
and everything’s okay and in black and white as usual when suddenly you saw this??? strange shade???????? not in black or white???????
you’re SHOOK and immediately just start darting your eyes everywhere
and finally when your eyes land on a person at the men’s section of the store a burst of saturation and color splashes in front of you
and everything seems to have just...come to LIFE
you’re shaking because everything you see now feels like a new experience....colors that you can’t identify are everywhere you turn and you’re so EXCITED to learn the names of each
you turn to your “soulmate” person with tears ready to fall but suddenly
you: oh my sweet baby jesus
you: can his fashion sense be aNY SH I TT I E R
your jaw is like on the FLOOR and you’re absolutely appalled by the young man looking through some sweatshirts
in your mind you’re furiously criticizing all the choices he’s made and making
you: why in the world would he pair that shirt with that vest
you: sweetheart that is one hell of a stupid hat you’re staring at
you: is he actually serious about picking that vest
you: what in the world did i ever do to deserve this
you’re fuming at this point and you’re ready to either stomp over and hit him on the head to get his senses back into place or walk away and pretend the meeting never happened
but then he turns around and sees you and when his eyes widen you know there’s no turning back
also you realize he’s really cute so
he walks over all shy with a hand rubbing the back of his neck and a suppressed smile to hide how excited he really is
he says “so....i guess.....we’re soulmates?” with pink steaming cheeks
it takes you like a few seconds to get over how utterly cute that was and the you’re like “yes. and your outfit is a disaster. how dare you.”
and that snaps jihoon out of his bashfulness and he’s just?? excUSE ME???? what the heck do you mean my shirt is suPER cute thank you very much
and you’re like SWEETHEART the design on that thing is utterly atrocious it doesn’t match your face at ALL
and that’s how you and your soulmate got into a huge argument in the middle of the store with ppl staring and taking pics
a few minutes later a middle aged man comes over and taps jihoon’s shoulder and says hey we gotta go you can’t stay here and act like this
jihoon glares at you before he turns around and leaves and you’re just HUFFS i hope i don’t see that kid ever again........
literally two hours later you friends spam your phone with articles about “Wanna One’s Park Jihoon’s Intense Argument With Mysterious Person”
you’re on the verge of crying after realizing you bickered with a massively popular idol and your friends are like “what kind of flowers do you want us to leave at your grave”
you couldn’t focus on anything for a week straight and you’re so scared of stepping outside and having people recognize you so you started wearing masks and sunglasses all the time
it hurt your fashion common sense to wear sunglasses while it was raining but you were too terrified
but good thing was!!! you learned the names of all the colors you could and developed this habit of differentiating even the slightest shade like “that’s not just bLUE that’s cornflower blue with a tint of turquoise on the lower right”
it would only be a matter of time before you start addressing colors by their html code name lmfao
anyways your friends are recognize that your works are becoming a lot better and the color mixing seem smoother and more elegant than before
they ask you if it's because you met your soulmate and beg you to introduce him but you know that they’d lose their shit and fall on their ass laughing if you tell them it’s actually the park jihoon you accused of having disgusting taste
you actually feel really sorry....like however much you hated the way he dressed you shouldn't have criticized him like that man
you start researching him online and you get really interested because damn he has such a nice face
in your head you could conjure so many different combinations of outfits that could work fantastically with him
a few weeks later wanna one is doing a fansign meet and greet thing and jihoon is smiling at every fan and holding their hands and thanking them for their gifts and doing his aegyo
and suddenly.....he sees YOU right in front of him with your deep blue hat and heavy trench coat to avoid being seen
he flinches at first but he can’t be rude so he fakes a smile and just goes...”hi”
and you’re like listen....i’m like seriously sorry for that fiasco back at the store..... and you proceed to apologize several times before he’s like okay!!! i got it you’re sorry
and then you take out the bag you’ve been holding and hand it to him
“here,” you say. “i included a booklet inside.”
and then you just rAN OUT OF THERE like you didn’t even talk to the rest of the members who’re looking at your back like wtf was that????
after their schedules end and they’re at their dorms jihoon takes out the bag you gave him and sees the booklet that read “ok i know i said sorry but please take a look at the clothes i picked out for u”
he’s so ready to get pissed to see you STILL criticizing his choices but then he sees all the clothes inside and the different outfit combinations drawn and written in the booklet....and he’s sOLD like these are so pretty and cute???????
and he tries everything on and woojin is like whoa and guanlin probably gets gayer
jihoon wears one set for his airport fashion the next day and all his fansites basically explode bc he reached another level of stunning
and his stylists and managers are like????? what the heckie HECK
jihoon’s all smiles and stuff and he’s....really grateful to you.....
like when he met you and found out that you were his soulmate he never felt more crestfallen because the relationship already looked darker than woojin’s past
but now...he just really wants to meet you again and thank you....and maybe talk over a cup of coffee....and just be........a soft couple that he’s always wanted to be in..........
jihoon became the top search on naver for the whole week and became the reason for your smile
it’s the first time that your work has ever been “publicized” in any shape or form and you’re so glad it’s receiving such positive feedback
a while later you get an email during your lunch break
and the sender is.....CJ E&M entertainment
they somehow figured out that you were the one who gave jihoon his clothes and discovered more of your works from blogs and stuff and now they want to hire you as a stylist for wanna one and the meeting date is....in three hours
you drop your cup of coffee and spRINT out of your university to catch a taxi cab
when you get to the meeting place at the company you realize that frick frack botta bing botta boom your hair’s a mess and you’re sweaty and you haven’t showered in three days due to your schedule and you’re in no way appropriate looking to be hired to be a person who’s in charge of making people look good
but a staff sees you and is like!! come in!!!!! and you’re like welp it’s do or die
and the company manager and wanna one members are all in a private room waiting for you and the manager starts this speech about how he adores your sense of style and how all the members would be happy to have you as their stylist and how much they’re willing to pay you but the whole time you’re mostly sneaking glances at jihoon
you know how sometimes you would sneak glances at someone who just so happens to look at you at the exact same time and it gets awkward and then both of you would look away really fast
that happens so many time with you and jihoon but...the fourth time that it happens he stares back just three seconds longer than before
he blushes SO hard because of how daring of a move that was and starts fanning himself and beside him jisung is like??? it’s like 20 degrees in here what are you doing
and then the company manager says to you “usually we hire stylists who are married to prevent any kind of special relationship between them and the members...you’ll be an exception to our rule. but the second that we see something suspicious or that you’re violating that rule, then....well, you can guess what might happen.”
and you’re like wow what the heck so i’ll lose my job for getting together with my soulmate
and then the meeting is done and the manager goes to get you your id card and all the paperwork and everyone pre much disperses except for you and jihoon
it’s a bit awkward with both of you staring at the floor....and then you try to break the silence with “this sucks”
and jihoon laughs and just says “it’ll be fine” and he looks up at you and takes a deep breath and goes “give me your number before they come back”
his heart’s racing and he’s almost afraid that you’ll say no
and when you say yes and take out your phone he feels six weights being lifted off his shoulder
and his head jihoon imagines all the possibilities for you two...snuggling besides you as he watches you draw ideas into your notebooks, holding your hand and telling you to pay a bit more attention to him, and smiling when you toss your notebook away, giving in, and leaning closer to him
you have to shake his shoulders to wake him from his daydream lol
you’re like listen bud ur cute i gUESS but we ain’t gonna kiss or anything until i organize your closet
and that’s probably when jihoon realizes this relationship will be anything but the perfect manhwa couple he’s always dreamed of
and suddenly he finds himself swiftly pecking your cheek and going “yeah well i just dID”
you:
you:
the other 10 members watching from a crack of the door: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
he saved u in his heart real fast

ok so I haven’t written anything in many mnay years, but procrastination and too Many Comics can do strange things.
Just some drabble which forms some coherent one-shot I guess.
Damian never liked Tim,but after this, he will never forgive him.
Basically Tim has to monior Damian in some ‘mandatory dress training’. Damian is cute and angry, Tim is a good brother, and Dick is less so.
~1800 words, literally don’t know what I’m doing, mindless fluff and poofy dresses.
Damian doesn’t know what to do. Damian Al Ghul: Robin, son of Batman, heir to the League of Assassins is absolutely stunned. He’s faced assassins, demons, beasts of unfathomable proportions. He has come so far in his few short years that immortals would be seething with jealousy. He came back from the dead, and he doesn’t know what to do. Trained by the world’s greatest, and here he stands, Tim Drake having frozen him in his tracks.
“You want…I’m sorry Drake, but what?”
“You heard me.”
“Drake, of all thi- this is ridiculous-“
“Yeah, well it’s a compulsory part of the training, and now you’ll fit into it, so get over here and put this on right now or I’m calling Dick.”
“-Tt-,” he scowled as he eyed Tim, glancing between his brother’s innocent, amused expression and the object of questionable origins in his arms, “You would enjoy this, you-“
Tim’s hands went up defensively, a film of glitter gracing his forearms. “Nuh-uh you stop looking at me like that right now demon child. This was definitely not my idea and I just want to get back to my case so if you wouldn’t mind-”
Damian snatched the pile of hoops and fabric from him. Honestly. What kind of family is this. “Well then, whose idea was it?” He struggled to turn the pale pink mess over in his arms, barely catching glimpses of the layers of tulle sticking out from what was presumably the bottom.
“Nobodys! I swear, this is actually a part of training,” Tim grimaced, ignoring the laugh building in response to Damian’s disgusted face, “Bruce makes all of us do it, but seeing as he’s overseas, Dick’s busy, and Jason’s who-knows-where, I’m in charge of…this.”
Damian wasn’t convinced. He could see Tim’s mouth twitching in that insufferable face he made whenever he had something to do with something unpleasant. He’s lying. It had to be some kind of sick Tim Drake joke. After all this time, he should be forced to wear, well, this. Despicable.
“For what possible reason – “
“Hey - don’t get me started runt.” Tim sauntered past the table, grabbing his coffee before planting himself in the nearest armchair with great satisfaction, falling into what looked like the least comfortable position any human being could manage. “I had to learn how to walk in it. Dick had to learn how to dance in it.  And – holy cow- Jason knows how to seduce anyone in it, so I’m sure that you, with your mighty mind can master all of that and more. Hey, I have to say though, it is easier than sitting in a pencil skirt, but doesn’t make your butt look nearly as good.”
Damian stared as Tim serenely sipped his coffee. He’d been through heels, and the cursed pencil skirts, but this? He stared at the pile in his arms with distain.
“Why does it have to be pink.”
“Hm? What was that?”
“I hate you Drake.”
  ----
Two hours, a torn underskirt, a snapped hoop, a broken zip and four fake bras later, Damian Wayne finally came into the lounge so that Tim could assess him.
“Finally, took you - woah”
Damian’s cheeks flushed. He was used to being critiqued and hunted by his insufferable brother, not flattered.
“Well? Stop staring you trout, do I pass?”
His mouth just hung open. What used to be his little demon brother actually looked, well, really good. His hair had been ruffled from wrestling with the dress, which somehow made him look even better. The dress managed to frame his lithe, false-breasted body exceptionally. Alfred was probably the only reason it was still in one piece, and the old, pristine fabric of the training gown caught the fading light perfectly. A river of fuchsia sequins rippled like a tail down the centre, framed by black velvet stripes. A black collar complemented dark sleeves, flowing from a high-waisted pale pink centrepiece, ending in a thick black ribbon. From this stemmed a pink hoop gown, the rich satin glistening in the fading light from the half-open curtains.
Dang, his brother looked better than he ever did in that thing.
Snapped out of his musings by a sharp -tt-, Tim hastily responded, “It, uh- the colour…really, brings out your eyes, I guess.”
“Really Drake? Am I that good that I don’t require any real critique?” Damian swished, hands falling in a naturally petite manner to his hips.
Tim had to hold back a snort. “Well, if you really want to know, you’re as ugly as ever, and need a wig. Your hair is shocking. And your shoulders – I can tell you’re a little self- “
“I am n – “
“Don’t interrupt me, princess. As I was saying, you’re self-conscious. You’ve got to hold your shoulders back, puff out your chest a little - no not like – agh wait, lemme, more like this, see?” Tim stood as close as he felt was a safe distance to the dinosaur in a dress, but pulled himself into a ballerina stance. “It’s like someone’s drawn a string up your spine, yeah that’s a little better, but don’t be so tense, relax your shoulders a little. Yes. Much better.”
Tim continued to give instruction and Damian let himself relax a little. The dress wasn’t all uncomfortable. Besides, there was no denying Drake thought he looked good. At least a little.
After learning to walk, especially up and down stairs holding the length of puffy fabric, Tim called for Alfred to bring in the shoes. Combining them with the dress proved to be…difficult, but he only stepped on the hem twice, and that was because he was trying to stand up and the dress just got everywhere once you sat down.
Dancing was a lot harder.
“You know-“
“Yes, of course I know the waltz, you dimwit. And I am not dancing with you, no matter how much ‘practice’ anybody insists I need.”
“I wasn’t planning on it.” Tim sat back into his observing station, nursing his third coffee of the day, taking note of his brother’s movements.
“You’re doing the girl’s part, remember.”
“Shut up”
“…Keep your back straight, you’re losing-“
“Mm”
“…Relax those shoulders princess.”
“-tt-“
  ----
Asides from the occasional misstep in the heels, which left a few new holes in the first layer of the skirt, and his tense shoulders, Tim thought Damian was more of a natural in the dress than any of them had been, except maybe Dick.
“Are we done now?”
Turning his head from a fresh brew, he sighted the pile of fabric sprawled on the furthest armchair. The second pair of heels had been kicked off and a light sheen of glitter rested with them on the floor nearby.
“Sadly, no.”
“What?!” The pile twisted as Damian almost fell on the floor, “You said one more dance-“
“Until I’m done, you still have something else to do.”
Damian’s face could probably boil water, but Tim wasn’t finished. “After this, you can remove the beautiful dress and reclaim your natural demon state. Besides, a normal gala usually goes for at least another twenty minutes. Put on that one pair of heels which you actually liked, and I’ll give my final assessment.”
Damian tutted, pulling on his shoes and staring daggers at his brother before finally straightening up and twirling one more time.
“Fine. Just…hurry up.”
Then Dick walked in.
He froze. Damian stiffened. Tim grinned.
“You…little…”
“DAMI!”
Dick spread his arms wide, soggy hair from his after-work shower flicking drips behind him as he bounded up to his little brother. Damian braced himself for whatever was coming.
“Damian it…you…it’s perfect! You look amazing!” He turned to Tim, “How’d you-“
“With a lot of patience.”
Both smiled like maniacs as Damian suffered their compliments.
“Oh Darlene, your dress is stunning tonight.”
“Oh Diana I love your shoes!”
“Dmitri, that colour really brings out your flawless skin.”
“And your eyes!”
“Did he get the posture right?”
“Most of the time”
“Dami, relax your shoulders-“
“So.  I’ve.  Been. Told.”
“Oh you have to give me a walk. Come on, just one? I promise I will never talk of this –“
“Shut up. I will, only because I want this torment to end sooner.”
So, Damian did. He glided flawlessly up the room, twirled liked only the finest of socialites, then turned to see – Grayson’s Phone. Abandoning any hints of walking, Damian pulled up the dress, revealing a half-on shoe. With a quick and expert flick of his ankle, it flew off and landed violently on the camera. Tim snorted, sharing a quick smile with the youngest. Dick just looked hurt.
“Aww, come on Dami! It’s compulsory for everyone to have documented photos of all important training events. Besides, Bruce needs photographic evidence of this occasion.”
“Shut up, Grayson. I swear if you show those to anyone I will slice your hand off.”
“Well, I think that about covers everything now.” Tim interrupted before Damian actually attacked anyone. He stood, and with the straightest face and most serious voice he could muster, said, “You have my permission, as your supervisor for this training session, to get out of the dress, until such time comes that it is needed for mission purposes. Also, I’ll have to write all this down, but you really need to work on relaxing your shoulders.”
Damian’s sour expression turned to Tim, “Drake, if you mention this to anyone, I will have a good reason to cut off your coffee supply for a week.” He turned with great flair, radiating an attitude fitting for his outfit, and stormed into the next room.
“Oh, and Damian?” Dick called before he slammed the door behind him, “Just remember, with the whole relaxing your shoulders thing, think of it like swordplay – you only tense before you strike. And if you do ever have to wear one of those, at least you’ll be prepared. Plus, Bruce had to have this training too, so-“
“Wait, what?!? Father had to- “
“Ohohoho yes he did.” Dick’s phone was back up as he searched for the ‘compulsory photographic documentation’.
Damian stalked over as fast as he could, hoisting the dress.  Tim rolled off the couch too. He was not going to miss this.
“He thought he should try it out when he made me do it. Justified it as ‘needing practice’ and ‘learning from a woman’s perspective’, but I don’t think anybody his size needs to put themselves through something they obviously can’t pull off. Now where’s…ahah!”
The room fell silent. The air was concrete as Dick held in the fiery laugh building in his chest.
“Is that-“
“Yes.”
“Gets me every time.”
“In pink-“
“Oooohhh yeah.”
“You know it.”
Damian was disgraced. Tim was choking back his laughter. Dick was…well, Grayson was beaming in the background of the photo, wearing the same dress Damian had on now. It…complemented his Father’s.
“Oh he really cannot pull that off.” Tim commented.
“I KNOW, right?! He kept telling me it was for experience but honestly I think he was just enjoying himself.”
Damian snuffed, “-tt-, he needs to relax his shoulders.”
Tim and Dick shared stunned glances before Dick mumbled, “Guess it runs in the family.”

Would you say peer wise, Damian's friendship with Jon is your favorite right now? Damian's (peer age) friendship with Maya is still my absolute favorite. She just gets him on such a level that few people ever do and he opens up to her in return in a rare way. I'd say Jon and Damian have a dynamic right now where Damian is the only one close to Jon's age that can be involved in his life in all areas. He also acts like a coach of sorts to Jon so even if Damian's constantly doing things that Jon-
2 hates. He eventually caves and let's himself be pulled along half because he feels obligated to by their parents and also maybe he's a little lonely for super friends his age. I don't think he's at the point where he really likes Damian too much. Jon definitely doesn't understand him. Honestly I hope he takes a long time too. Poor Jon is so young and had such a loving upbringing just getting a glimpse of Damian's background would horrify him. Damian for his part finds Jon a little useful -
3 potential to be a pretty awesome (though not as awesome as him) hero to encourage and ally himself with. As annoying as he can find his innocence Damian has shown he's very drawn to people with Jon's personality (Dick, Steph, Colin) and he's obviously growing attached in a aloof big brother way (lol, toddler titan is my fav nickname). He's just not close to the point he is with Dick or Maya or the TT about seeing Jon as a equal. He knows if he treats him as one would mean exposing him to the-
4 parts of him that Jon wouldn't be ready to handle (he did try to be open w/his past and looked disappointed when Jon brushed it off). But yeah right now I'd say part of the way their relationship works is that they can compliment each other quite a bit. But there's this huge gap that causes their clashes. Jon's not as stunted but Damian is very much ahead of understanding what it means to him to be a hero and who/how to fight. They don't have to be best friends but thet are interesting foils.
That Christmas special bugged me for a number of reasons actually and I didn't like it much. Jon had plenty of school friends and his best friend (at the time) is Kathy so he can't be friendless. In canon Damian is the one calling upon Jon and inviting him into his life while Jon trying to be nice but losing his temper over Damian's antics a lot. I feel like that strip didn't have a great idea of their friendship and that it's a slow burn for both of them becoming closer. But that's how it is.
Do you think Jon belongs on the Teen Titans? I know he complained about not being invited to join and in a future Super Sons issue Damian finally does invite him (with ulterior motives). A part of me wonders if Damian ends up inviting Jon with the purpose of discouraging Jon? I know quite the opposite of what he does but TT missions are quite different from their own duo missions and Damian is protective in his own way. Damian can't look after Jon when he's got his whole team to watch over too.
I’m assuming all six of these messages were from the same person. But if not, let me know!
Time for some meta~
Damian and Jon have the potential to be my favorite peer friendship. I’d dare say it without a doubt will be one day, but it’s not there just yet.
(Maya is different to me, however, because Damian killed her father, and he knew that upon meeting her, thus treated her differently from the get-go compared to any other relationship he has. I feel like we can’t really truly compare her relationship with him to any other relationship he has, you feel?)
I don’t think Jon and Damian interact with each other because of the similar ages. Jon has his friends, and I think if Jon was given the choice, he wouldn’t have powers at all. Not to mention, that while Damian is considered a ‘superhero’ he doesn’t actually have any powers, so really can’t be involved in ‘all aspects’ of Jon’s life, as he doesn’t completely know all the struggles Jon is going through. Unless, I guess, you count those few months he had powers of his own. But that fact hasn’t been brought up yet in any of the books they’re in together, so I doubt that’s much of a factor.
Part of it might be they feel obliged by their fathers (though I’d say it’s much more Superman’s pushing than Batman’s), but I’d say another part is Jon’s genuine goodness/naivety. He sees the good in everyone it seems, Damian included. I also get this sense that Clark has told Jon some of Damian’s life/past. Probably not everything, but enough to know that there are some pretty valid reasons as to why Damian is the way he is, and gives him the benefit of the doubt/chances more times than he should. But just because he might know doesn’t mean he understands Damian, I agree with you there.
And it’s well documented how Damian feels about crimes against/hurting children. I get the sense Jon falls into this category for him, and so he puts it upon himself to keep Jon safe/watch out for him when they’re together. But also, I think Damian is slowly working on that ‘making friends’ thing, even if he’s terrible at it right now, so is trying not to give up on Jon either.
I admittedly didn’t read the Christmas issue, but of the panels I saw, I thought it sort of fit how their relationship was going at the time. But I think you contradicted yourself. Earlier you said Jon puts up with Damian because Damian understands the superhero life and can be involved in all aspects of it. And sure Jon has friends, but none of them fight crime/know the ‘hero’ life. I remember in the holiday special Damian was actually fighting a monster when Jon called. Maybe that made him feel more at ease talking to Damian. And like I said, I didn’t read it, but I don’t recall seeing anything where anyone said Jon was friendless, but I could be wrong.
But in that same vein, I think Damian struggles seeing kids his age unhappy, friends or not, and in the holiday issue Jon clearly was. He got him the gift he most wanted because he knew it’d make the other happy. Remember how surprised he was when Jon hugged him - a thing actual friends might do.
Honestly, though, and I’ve wanted to meta about it for a long, long time, but beyond just being the best of friends in canon, I’d love to see, when they’re older/teens/adults of course, Jon and Damian become what Tim and Conner were never quite allowed to be, in that they become a romantic couple. Not just hinted or baited at, but an honest-to-goodness couple.
It’s about time a bat and a super got together, or was not just like ~implied wink-wink~ to be LGBT(QIA? I’m sorry I don’t know the whole acronym!), don’t you think? And I’m not talking about ‘knock off’ bats and supers like Midnighter and Apollo, or having all this ‘evidence’ that Jason is bi but never speaking about it outside of writer interviews years and years after the fact, I’m talking straight up - have a Bat and a Super be something other than hetero in canon, with no ability to be questioned or written out/away. And honestly, I think Jon and Damian are perfect candidates to do just that.
As for the Teen Titans, I’d say right now Jon should maybe be kept on a like ‘reserve’ basis? Because, yeah, he is still ten dang years old, that’s not a teenager. But also...he’s got powers and can help. So maybe not every mission, but...let the kid come hang out with Starfire and Kid Flash for goodness sake.
Also, your message about Jon in the Titans and if Damian is trying to discourage him to protect him was hilarious to me....because I wrote a fic about this exact thing, teehee. ;P

“Fanfic writer asks”: Skipping the “asks” and doing the answers!
I just saw this and I’m too excited to wait for someone to see this, decide what to ask, and I wanted to answer all of them, anyways.
Some of these are fill-in-the-blanks for askers, so I can’t answer them. But if anyone wants elaboration, or wants to know a specific something in regards to a particular story, or character: Absolutely, feel free to send me some!
Questions taken from here: http://criminal-minds-fanfiction.tumblr.com/post/172926526725
--
1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction? Oh geez, we practically need a time machine for that. I was only 11 or 12! I started "writing" fanfics with my action figures (guest-starring other childhood toys) as far back as I can remember. Literally, from the time I was 5-8 and obsessed with Pokemon and Yoshi's Story and Powerpuff Girls, I was playing out stories and adventures, from beginning to end, imagining backstories for why they're there, what they were doing, what motivated them. They even came with continuity (from one play-session to the next)!
As for actually writing it down, though... That also started Very Early. I think I must've been 11 or 12? The earliest one I ever dated was 2005, anyway. They were descriptive, illustrating actions to display emotions, and characterization was... well, it Sure Existed (even if it varied from "So Wrong", to Definitely the Right Remark).
But ever since the moment I touched a pen to my first fanfic notebook, it was about my OCs (and Raven, because, surprise surprise, she was my favorite to write about). I've had plot since I first took those Crayola twistables to paper to illustrate the story in my head, the first story I ever Had a Solid Plot For (that is, Mystery Sickness-- which is being rewritten with Actual Explanations, re: Why Dove Made Her Feel So Shitty in the first place): that was also in 2005. (Fun fact: it was originally in Poorly-Drawn Comic Form). The actual "novelization" went through to 2007.
2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one? As my fanfiction.net profile will tell you: "Author has written 32 stories for Teen Titans, Pokémon, and Ruby Gloom." - The Ruby Gloom fanfic was abandoned, unfortunately. (It was a direct and shameless self-insert, that got abandoned because, quite frankly, I had no idea what to do with it. Maybe I should put it up for adoption at this point...) - A Work of Magic (my Pokemon fanfic, with related bios/etc) gets written for very rarely, because the inspiration to do so is rare and sporadic, and more tied to a Specific Scene I want to write, than where I left off in the story. @w@;; - A Steven Universe fanfic is in the works, though I'm struggling to flesh it out.. due to the Aforementioned Preoccupation with The FAVE MOMENTS, moreso than the backstory and movement through those moments. @D;;
And then, you have the Teen Titans stories. You know, the ones with Dove, and Kary, and Srentha, and Leyla will eventually be there. My most precious, dearly beloved, absolutely irreplaceable OCs. My TT story folder has about 100 files, which belong to about 30 full-length stories. (And that's not counting the oneshots, like Heart to Heart, which is still one of the best things I've ever written.) There are also a few poems here and there, particularly Dove's Prophecy (of self-fulfillment, really), and stories illustrating Dove's childhood, her mother/grandmother's past, Srentha's childhood... There's just Quite A Lot! I've been doing this, writing them, for 12+ years.~ And my fandomatic obsession for Teen Titans has never dulled, quieted, or been forgotten. So yes, I definitely do have a "particular" favorite. I may prefer exploring their world through my OCs, but damn, is it more FUN than any other world to explore!
3) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer. Ah, you can probably tell it's OCs by now. At least, MY OC's. Someone else's OCs, well, I tried that once, they were going to commission me. But I never got it finished. (I just didn't have quite the same connection. And I didn't know the canon; that can't have helped.) But character I *do* get to know, like my girlfriend's OCs in our collaborations (or characters I got to know so well through playing together that I just totally shamelessly adopted, specifically: Kary), I do enjoy writing for~ There's just something so incredibly special in knowing that you, solely, are responsible for their growth, their development, and their well-being. It's a bit like having kids, without the screaming. (At least, without them screaming in your ear. Dove and Kary have both done their fair share of screaming, come to think of it...)
( (( Although, to be fair: I've never tried writing a writer insert. I doubt anyone would actually WANT to endure the stories I put my characters through... ;P )) )
4) What is your favourite genre to write for? Fantasy? Action/Adventure? It's hard to say, because I actually write for a HUGE variety of Genres. But I guess my favorite, if I can encompass all of them under this one umbrella, would have to be Hurt/Comfort.
5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why? DAMN IT, DON'T DO THIS TO ME.
Gods, that's hard! Basically ALL of my stories are multi-chaptered... Well, it's definitely one of my Teen Titans stories. DDD has definitely been the most challenging to write, the most fulfilling to finish chapters on, and the most pivotal point in Dove's life, so it will always hold a special place in my heart. Writing for Azar in "The Final Journey" and Dove taking her first unintended steps into heroism has been so personally touching for me, and it does so much good for Dove, and especially her relationship with the team, that it's just so, so special to watch. Something Special About Srentha is probably my most epic multi-faceted story, and the narrative timeline (handling two very distinct and separate struggles in totally separate places) is really challenging me to grow as a writer. "Continuum Wars" is going to be the grandest scale of struggle and magic, so I'm really especially excited to start figuring it out. It is just so, so HARD to decide on ONE; they're all so special, and I love watching my style evolve with each story, and more than anything, watching my characters come out of these situations alive. lD;;
6) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why? you mean the Teen Titans and Pokemon crossover where Dove brings home a Misdreavus? been there, done that. Honestly though, every single one of my stories has its place in my characters' lives, and is important for continuity. And personal growth. And I've honestly never been ashamed of something I've written.
(If you travel far back enough in my fanfic archive, you WILL find a really old character bio for Dove, which I completely revamped, because I didn't learn until later how to frame her without comparing her to Raven, even though she's always been a very different and independently-extant character. Also, the bits I learned about Being Kept A Secret and her grandmother's exile were Nearly Learned around 2010, 2012...)
7) When is your preferred time to write? Whenever the inspiration bug bites! ASAP!! But as for general adding and editing, it's fairly late at night, usually~ Sometimes afternoons. Usually an hour or more after eating, and especially when it's cool and quiet in the room.
8) Where do you take your inspiration from? Canon, personal experience (my personal struggles, my search for my identity, and my struggle to define myself), and sometimes even my own spirituality. (Wild shit goes down when you get into astral exploration, let me TELL you!)
9) In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote? Can I just... use my personal favorite? (If you have any questions about a particular fic, or universe, or point in a character's life that didn't happen in the fics, let me know and I'll gladly answer!)
- Holy GOD, the climax scene of Dove's Dark Discovery! It takes place entirely in Dove's mindscape, while Dove's power is maxed out, and you've got a very powerful telepath and a TREMENDOUSLY power empath battling within a mindscape that has been slowly devastated over the past few months, and it's just this absolute EPIC culmination of their powers and, to a degree, even the connection they'd been forging since Dove came. Dove seriously oversteps some boundaries, Raven nearly kills Dove by accident, it's seriously crazy stuff.
Bonus: Way back in, like, probably 2008 or 2009, when titansgo.net was still around: I had asked my all-time favorite fanfic author for critique on the climax. His advice, to make it "three times as long and nine times the punch", absolutely inspired me to reach WAY higher with their fight, and once I realized what kind of mind-bending maelstrom shenanigans can go down in a MINDSCAPE, the scene fairly EXPLODED with potential!
And I especially like the fact that, including the revisions after his (entirely justified) advice: This scene has gone through like nine different incarnations. And my favorite part: It was originally inspired by a battle in the Teen Titans videogame! I think my little sister was playing White Raven (who my mind always read as Being Dove, because White Cape and Magic Powers), I was playing Raven, and the battle took place in "Nevermore", Raven's mindscape. It was actually a good fight. And I was fucking AMPED... But also emotionally RAVAGED, because "holy shit, Raven fighting Dove... in a mindscape......" And the scene happened like two days later. (In middle school. Honors Spanish class. As a note in the margins of my assignment notebook!)
Gods, guys. That scene is just so incredibly important, and it has come oh, so very far~
10) In your xxx fic, why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind? I'm gonna answer one that I really like the ending of, but feel free to ask for others. Like, maybe one I've actually published, that you've actually read? 8F But honestly: Spellbound pt. II. I haven't published it yet... but it ends in absolute tragedy. The reason is twofold: First off, I knew Dove and Srentha were end-game, so although Dove was falling pretty deep into love, I couldn't have him hanging around... 8F But also because I wanted to illustrate the strength of sacrificial redemption. (I don't want to give too much away, because... well, that's the ENDING. But it's heart-wrenching and I can only hope I've done it justice.)
Other faves include: Srentha having heart-issues at the end of Something Special (because it's the Very First Symptom that something is going to be Dreadfully Wrong with him in the sequel), DDD ending with Dove absolutely traumatized and seriously hurt (because the following story is going to be all about her learning to Take Action on her pain, instead of hiding herself away), and A Work of Magic ending with everyone thinking Mistress had died trying to save her family... but the ending is, and the epicness kind of speaks for itself in this: "You can't kill a ghost."
11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it? You mean like the way I completely rewrote Dove's character bio 6 years later, in response to all the accusations of her being a Mary Sue? Despite literally nothing (but more specific illustration) changing in the way I wrote her? 8F Other than that, absolutely not! I mean, if someone made a valid point I would. But nobody can tell me how to write my OCs, you know?
12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why? My OCs. But you probably mean canon characters... and that easily comes down to Raven. She's just so layered, working with very inward, introspective mechanics, before she takes her action, usually in a very well-thought out direction, or sometimes an INSANELY emotional outburst, and either way, it tends to be Very Important, Poignant, and Make a Difference in the scene. I relate to her; I idolized her for the longest time; I know exactly how to write the struggle between not being able to express your emotions, and being true to yourself, because I've lived it. I'm an empath, so writing her empathic powers is always sort of therapeutic, because outside of my mirrorbook, I'd never gotten to EXPLORE that aspect of myself before. Her wit is hard to capture sometimes, I'll admit, but, I mean, I was making the nurses at the hospital laugh all the way up to my procedure, armed with nothing but my dry remarks. I think I'm up to the challenge.
13) Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why? Beast... Boy...... I'm sorry, I really am. I've just never been able to relate to him, or understand how his mind works (if it even works at all?), or write him into any of the plots-- outside of, like, trying to cheer Dove up, which is iconic and appreciated on Dove's end. But otherwise? What do I even DO with him? His sense of humor is just... so lowkey annoying that I sincerely cannot fathom why it's So Funny, let alone make it up for him. (Thankfully, at least the comics come in handy for exploring Why he's Like That, which has honestly helped a lot more than anything the show ever did. All but ONE of his episodes, were... pretty crack-tastic. And that just doesn't mesh well with my stories that are Trying to Deal with a Serious Issue Here.)
14) How did you come up with the title for the xxx? - You can ask about multiple stories. Mostly, they're descriptive of the Most Iconic Thing, or Most Pivotal Plot Point, in the story! "Something Special About Srentha". "Dove's Dark Discovery". "Growing Up Demon: Leyla's Story". "Mystery Sickness", being renamed "Soul Sickness" for poetic value, but still keeping that iconic "Sickness" thing, while also making it More Relevant to Raven Specifically. The exception is probably "Unforeseen and Unforesaken". Yes, it's misspelled, I did that on purpose for visual balance in the title. It's weird. I know. But it's Intentional. (Still highly important things though, because it illustrates both Dove's arrival, and what happens once she's there, being unforeseen. And Dove absolutely hardcore valuing the team because they don't Forsake her.)
15) If you write OC’s, how do you decide on their names? Bold of you to assume I have this kind of CONTROL over them. Seriously, the way my writing works isn't so much "I get to decide what they do", and more like "huh, this Resonates. That must be a Thing... Let's try to seek out all the relevant details on why it happened, how they reacted, and how it ends!" It's like detective work. And this is absolutely best illustrated by trying to find Srentha's name. Because holy frick. What kinda name is that. (Turns out, it's literally in another language. 8F It means "flight", by the way! Onomatopoeia for the sound wings make.) Anyways, I literally found out one day that, "Dove tried to keep her pregnancy hidden... That must mean she had a kid. With someone." And thus began the Classic RHS Storytelling Search for "who's the guy?" And immediately I knew his name began with an "S". So I tried a bunch of names. I figured it was feminine-sounding, for some reason, thus I realized it ended in "-a". I knew it had two beats. Finding the "-ntha" was the easy part, it was figuring out how the heck to parse "Sren" into the right sounds and number of beats that was the REAL challenge. It wasn't until I remembered "Sri Lanka" exists that I figured out his entire name. (It's pronounced without the English "sh", though - it's just "Sren". As he says, "like Wren, with a Sss.")
16) How did you come up with the idea for xxx? Mostly, they came to me when I was thinking about my characters' lives. Except The Final Journey, that one was based on "the crystals" my girlfriend illustrated Dove having in her room, and I kinda just took that entire concept and made it Azarathean and RAN with it!~ (If you're curious about any particular story, let me know!)
17) Post a line from a WIP that you’re working on. "I killed six people. Do I deserve to die?" hello, this is your daily reminder that DDD absolutely Destroys Dove's self-image. But because it's So IMPORTANT and uhh, it was too Dark for me to leave that there, I also want to quote Raven's responses, which include "We all have our dark days," and "I do know that pain, that guilt. I know it better than anyone...[but] Solitary confinement won't cure it...[and] we don't want to see you leave." And also, "You won't be able to help anyone if you destroy yourself first."
18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them? Oh, stars. Let's see... The first "wip" I abandoned was a character I named "gayla", not knowing "gay" was actually a word, first of all, but her concept turned out to actually be part of Srentha's story, and honestly I should've figured out that "heh, same name as Raven's nursemaid" wasn't a thing. {lD (Whose name was actually Galya, by the way. I didn't realize that mistake for like, five years.)
I only so very RARELY abandon an actual story, though. I know there have been a couple of Moment Concepts I've lost, due to not writing them down; that honestly hurts much worse. ;; But there's the aforementioned Pokemon+TT crossover, where Dove brings home a Misdreavus by accident. That was purely self-indulgent, and it just didn't fit with the timeline, so I decided to stop writing that AU. It was really more that I wanted to focus on The Other Stories, and only had 3 short chapters planned. (The one where the little ghost gets herself stuck in Raven's mind had so much potential! But I didn't know how to write Raven's emoticlones in without Raven becoming aware of it. And now that I think about it, that could've been what got Dove to send her back.. But, eh, I've long lost the story file for it, and long LONG lost interest.)
If anyone tells you "A Work of Magic" is abandoned, they're wRONG, I'm just really, really caught up in Dove's struggle with DDD and Srentha and Steven Universe (even if I'm not really writing that fic most of the time), so my inspiration to write that story with As Much Lighthearted Fun Silliness as it deserves is seriously impaired. =w=;;
Oh, but I did kind of abandon the story from Sieara's point of view, because honestly, I'd rather just explore her through Dove. (That little bird gets plenty of epic spotlight moments; she even channels Azar's spirit at one point. Or two. ;P ) But mostly, I abandoned it because I didn't want to write about a bird being too old to reproduce, getting close to death, and then dying, anymore? (It was going to be about her noticing Dove spending more time with Srentha, Srentha's bird dying, and Sieara meeting Dove's daughter, and dying shortly after. But I... don't know, I didn't want to write that Angst without a Resolution.) I wrote that story for Exactly 1 Day, and then decided to stick to writing about her through Dove.
19) Are there any stories that you’ve written that you’d really love to do a sequel to? I fully intend to do sequels to all of them, thank you very much.~ (At least for the TT fics, all of them are connected in some way. A Work of Magic has both a sequel and a prequel planned. And the Steven Universe fic is really only planned for One Conflict, I really don't want to explore it much beyond that singular unit of Canon Divergence.)
20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently? That would be akin to lying, with the way my stories and my characters go.
21) Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire? thechroniclerjon, holy stars and envy batman. This is one writer who knows how to build a conflict, write magic in a way that's both Believable, and Relatable, and Awesome, and interweaves different plot threads into one rather EPIC confrontation. Obviously I couldn't take the element of religion into my stories, being so totally personally disconnected from it. (spirituality? ABSOLUTELY. Let me explore aLL the Azarathean feels!) But like. Those descriptions. The conversations. The build-up. The plot-twists. The raw emotion. I aspire, very much, to someday, in my own way, find a style that translates as much Excitement and Tension and Delight as his stories manage to convey.
Also, the author of Learning to Breathe Underwater, because that story had amazingly spot-on characterization, included so many canon elements (despite being Canon Divergent) while still having its own (very well escalated, incredibly well-executed!) plot! I write for the Teen Titans universe far more than Steven Universe, but I really admire their way of including basically every single character, giving them plenty of attention and growth, and giving a lot of them development in the process. I don't know if I could do that, but someday, I'd like to try.
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it? The old Mystery Sickness. Like, the first version. It was, ah... originally what I now call an "emvent", and if you know what that is, great; if not, I don't want to go into details, but it's a story that helps me process my phobia? Which, geez, poor Raven okay, but what's really "cringe" about it is the way I narrated it in first-person. XD Weird metaphors, she had a Detective Noir tone for some reason, and let's just say there's a reason I never shared any of the panels. (I kept it secret because of the phobia. Equally as horrifying, I kept it in words because of the pictures.)
23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence? Silence, but I prefer gentle background noises I'm used to. (Like birds fluttering around, gentle aquarium filters and the water rippling, wind in the trees, etc. It's an ADD thing; lowkey background noise, if kept at a distance, helps me focus.)
24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes? Eh. I have the Occasional Mood for it... like, once a year. 8P But generally, I'm just Not Interested. Sure, Dove and Srentha have... done some things that would entertain fans of the genre. And actually, some things that get borderline supernatural. But mostly, I'd just really rather be writing other things.
25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story? Oh, stars. Yes... Yes. Dove's Dark Discovery. (I drew on... an awful lot of personal experiences, and none of them were good.) Plus, her guilt and self-flagellating... let's just say it's a major Depression Mood. Also noteworthy: I cried writing the Death Sequence and farewell letter in Spellbound pt. II. I've cried for Dove's loss of Azarath, and her mother. I've cried for the things Dove and Srentha tell Leyla when she's really struggling (because, dear gods, if only I'd heard those words when I was a kid)... It doesn't happen often. But sometimes, it just... gets overwhelming.
26) Which part of your xxx fic was the hardest to write? ASK ABOUT ANY OF THEm, because DEAR GODS, there are PLENTY. But the hardest of all was DDD. I struggled with describing how/why an Extremely Gentle, Timid Pacifist was suddenly Losing Herself to Internal Evil, and doing Terrible Things. I struggled to capture the IMMENSITY of the mindscape battle, both in how these two Incredibly Powerful Demi-demons were unleashing their powers, and also in how much of a personal toll it takes on BOTH of them afterwards. And now, I'm struggling to find the words for Dove in the aftermath, because... Gods, there's just so much turmoil and emotion. It echoes an awful lot of Seriously Dangerous Depression Thoughts, right down to suicide ideation and lashing out at the people she loves because she doesn't think she deserves them, and aren't they all fools for loving her. All I can say is thank god Raven's such a realistic beacon of hope, because (much like she did for me, come to think of it) she's able to help Dove battle those thoughts with reminders, wisdom, and hope.
27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow? This one depends entirely on the story. Generally, it's really quite sporadic and incidental. I write out the scenes as they come to me (usually WAY out of order), and then figure out how they all fit together. Sometimes I don't even realize two scenes are in the same story at first! Or how they're related. I tend to write the beginning, several scenes from When Things Are Very Serious, then go back to fill in the blanks. A lot of times the climax happens either before I know how to start the story, before I know what led up to it, or before I know how it ends. (DDD began with the climax scene. Heart to Heart began with realizing Srentha had a heart attack as a child.)
And then other times, it begins with a vague concept, and I start writing right at the beginning. (Something Special was first written at the beginning, with Srentha performing a spell. I didn't know what it was going to do, just that it was Relevant. A Work of Magic started with me in the Pokemon world wanting a Misdreavus, and developed into a full-team adventure from there. Unforeseen and Unforesaken, or rather "Unforeseen Surprises" in its original form, starting with the very moment Dove showed up, was written as I went along, knowing which points I wanted to hit before the story was over, but writing the scenes as they came to me.)
A Work of Magic has a lot of travel scenes, and moments that take place in specific areas, with Specific Species, so I had to plan out a timeline from region to region, to make sure they weren't in Sinnoh one day, then encountering a Unova legendary, and battling a psychic type in a Kanto forest the very next day, you know? Then there's DDD, which is such a gradually PROGRESSING story that I definitely had to outline some of the chapters, too. Making sure Dove's gradually growing powers were highlighted, and she wasn't going from Total Telekinetic Failure to Suddenly Really Strong and Breaking The Entire Gym Room in the next scene. That sort of thing.
Either way, it's usually As I'm Writing that I notice the connections, the causes rooted in previous stories or scenes, and the Effects These Incidents Have as I'm writing it out. I always start with An Incident and A Concept, because I wouldn't have a story to write without it. But where it becomes Actual Scenes, and what order I write them, depends entirely on the order I discover them.
28) What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction? What a Mary Sue was supposed to be, and that Dove isn't what they claimed. That criticism that so many reviewers threw onto her bio wasn't at all helpful, I didn't know what that meant, let alone how to fix it, and I didn't know how to demonstrate that Dove wasn't, in fact, "entirely like Raven", because she had her own powerset, her own history, and her own personality. To be fair, a lot of the Highlights on Their Differences happen in later stories, and it's the initial shock of "why the frick is wearing those clothes and using that mantra", so of course on first impression, it's like. "Raven? similarities???" But... I don't know, it's just so very OBVIOUS to me that, unless we're talking about Timid!Raven (the emoticlone), their differences are so VAST. And I spent a lot of time, WASTED a lot of time, trying to kill the assumption. It really wasn't worth it.
29) Do you have a story that you feel doesn’t get as much love as you’d like? DOVE'S! DARK! DISCOVERY!!! I nearly BROKE myself (both of time AND emotion) writing this thing! I understand that Some Friends can't Do Sadism, but like. This story is 250k words long, I've dumped a GREAT DEAL of my heart and soul into it, and Dove's plight seriously needs to be recognized to understand her growth moving forward. But! There! Are! So! Few! People! READING IT. The story has like 20 reviews on fanfic.net, BUT THE CLIMAX HASn'T GOTTEN ANY yet? ???? Please recognize the metaphorical blood, literal sweat, and literal tears I put into this. Gods. Yes I wish it got WAY more love.
30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at? That poem from middle school, "The Raven and the Dove"? It's a neat poem, sure. Kind, of, a unique concept? But it's not very well explored, it just goes "here are their differences. They're opposites. But they get along." No explanation of how or why. (That's all in the fanfics.) It's not nearly as rhythmic as Dove's Prophecy, it's not clever, it's not plot-twisty, and as far as poetic cred goes, I don't think it's anything special. ? ?? I mean, somebody found it online, and contacted me via email, and it nearly got PUBLISHED. (But I would've had to pay them to include it in their book, which I wasn't down with.) I just don't understand, literally at all, why so many people really LIKE it.
31) Send me a fic recommendation and I’ll post it for my followers to see! (The asker is to send the rec not the answerer) SEND ME FICS, I WILL READ.
32) Are any of your characters based on real people? Nah, they're all based on themselves.
33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten? My favorite fanfic author read, and then complimented, the (second or third version of?) the climax scene in DDD.~
34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten? Mostly just comments on Dove's first bio that went, "She's such a Mary Sue, burn it and scrap her entirely to start fresh"? (Thank *all* the gods that I didn't take that advice, because she's incredible and deserves to exist in her own right.)
35) Do you share your story ideas with anyone else or do you keep them close to your chest? Honestly? The first thing I do is WRITE about it. Unless I'm prompted to, or rambling about something that has me Inordinately Emotional, I don't really share them.
36) Can you give us a spoiler for one of your WIP’s? Don't worry, outside of Azarath's canonical demise, I only ever write somebody ACTUALLY dying once. But she comes back, because that's what she does, apparently.
37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written? Bold of you to assume I write comedy! But seriously, probably Srentha's debut story. When he discovers pizza, he assumes pepperoni isn't edible (a fair assumption, really, but he's vegetarian anyways). When he tries the cheese, his reaction is just so DELIGHTFUL and warm; he laughs so hard he's literally crying. The things he says and does when he's sugar-high are hysterical. He's just so exuberant and energetic, absolutely positive, he really brings a load of smiles to the table, and both I and Dove irrevocably love him for it.
38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it. I don't know if I have an answer for this. I don't really read a lot of Tumblr fanfics. I've already collaborated with Pix in RPs, my girlfriend and I have already collaborated on stories for both Kary and Pokemon, and the author of The Chronicler Saga implemented one of my scenes into his stories. What more can I really ask for?
I mean, if anyone WANTs to collaborate, just let me know, and I'd love to work something out.
39) Do you prefer first, second or third person? Third person, multiple, and preferably omniscient (or damn close to it)! Exploring everyone's inner workings is Exactly My Style. (And just more fun for me to write.)
40) Do people know you write fanfiction? Well, I only talk about it, like, once every three hours or so. (/sarcasm)
41) What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written? Sieara? Alerina? As for actual Canon Characters, I'm having a righteously wonderful time characterizing Azar. Lapis is fun and interesting to work with, but she's so full of emotional "tides" that it's really hard for me to write for her.
42) Song fic - What made you decide to use the song xxx for xxx. (I have only ever done songfics on papers, and wound up not needing the songs after all. They were all Evanescence, of course.)
43) Has anyone ever guessed the plot twist of one of your fics before you posted it? Not that I know of! Someone once guessed Dove was Raven's cousin, on Unforeseen+Unforesaken, and I haven't written the climax (when Raven realizes Dove is Trigon's child) yet. That's about the closest anyone has come.
44) What is the last line you wrote? Oh, stars, let me check. (This is where Tracking Changes comes in handy. ;P ) In Nothing Good Lasts Forever, the story that's (possibly going to be renamed "Even in Death", when Raven takes Dove back to Azarath for closure): This may or may not be polished before publishing. But this takes place immediately after Raven pulls Dove from a flashback.
"There's a lot you have to deal with. Your mind has been seriously damaged by what you've been through. I wonder..." And she trailed off there, hesitating, considering the concept before she dared give it voice.
Dove kept looking up at her, confused and seeming entirely absorbed in her analysis. It was so true. Tearing her apart, every time she remembered... The nightmares and flashbacks wouldn't let her forget it.
45) What spurs you on during the writing process? My own excitement, curiosity, and even desperation to learn what happens next! And a general sense of lowkey affectionate "tribute", like I'm the only person with these peoples' stories in my head, and they deserve to have their stories told. And also the hope that, maybe, someone, somewhere, will read the story, and if just ONE person feels their heart soothed or their struggle validated by my writings, then I've done a good thing, and that's all I really want.
46) I really loved your xxx fic. If you were ever to do a sequel, what do you think might happen in it? (Someone ask me, because EVERYTHING has sequels, and if you want to know about it, just Ask!)
47) Here’s a fic title - insert a made up title. What would this story be about? DO IT??
48) What’s your favourite trope to write? I'm... not sure, entirely, but probably "bullshit [insert genre here] magic".
49) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about? I remember one OF the first fics I ever read, because for about 7, 8 years, I was SCOURING fanfiction.net to find it again. It was about Raven having terrible visions, Azarath being destroyed, and Robin feeling her pain through their connection, but thinking it was heartburn. And then a group of people dropped in, took Raven away (on a spaceships? Though hyperspace???). And they were going to rebuild Azarath. And I think Robin had just discovered Raven was gone, before the story ended. Oh, and they spelled Azarath like "Azerath". That's all I can remember, but I really do wish I'd known what happened, because that story had me absolutely HOOKED. (But alas, I didn't have an account at the time, and I was reading it at the computer lab.)
50) If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why? Ohh, this one's hard. I'd drop smut like it's hot (haha, get it?). But seriously, I'm a 99%-sex-repulsed aroace, and I've only ever written like 5 half-done smut scenes. Imagined a Fair Few more, but they don't keep my interest for the long multi-hour process of editing that comprises my writing process.
This probably means "romantic fluff" though, right? I mean, I HAVE to write angst (because let's be real, without Angst I wouldn't have much of a story, since all of my stories are Driven By Characters Issues, WAY moreso than external events). But I really think the REAL beauty of my characters is how they go through that angst, and COME OUT with each others' support. I don't know how to write angst without someone being supported (i.e. "Hurt/Comfort", really), and I don't know how to write fluff without something Heavy bringing it on.
Secretshipping (Dove+Srentha) is equal parts angst and fluff, because honestly Angst is in Dove's Job Description, and Srentha is so light-hearted and goofy and silly that he balances it out (and Dove has some goof in her, and Srentha has some rare moments of angst, and it's how they interact and balance out and HELP each other through it that really brings them to LIFE together). Kary's whole characterization is because The Angst seriously fucked up her psyche, but scenes between her and Dove (and Yo-yo!), even her future husband, can get seriously silly and fluffy. Leyla's real growth and development comes from Realizing that the World is Not Like her Sheltered Life. (And how she doesn't want to expose her parents to Her Angst.) But it's also the fluffy deep softness and sincerity she and her parents share that gets her through these realizations. So like... Angst and fluff go hand-in-hand for me? I wouldn't be able to write one without the other.
