Both Keith and Lance have semi rational fears and make fun of eachother for it. They will both defend these fears like they are defending their honor.

For example:

"You're afraid of cars? That's so stupid."

"You're afraid of fucking stairs, shut up."

"That's because there is a very real chance I could fall and die."

"It just looks like that because your eyes are farther from the ground than the average person, fucking beanstalk."

"I fell down the stairs once and had to go to a chiropractor because it screwed with my spine. I'm aloud to be freaked out by them. I could've died. Plus, there's no chiropractors in space."

"IT'S FUCKING STAIRS!"

"IT'S FREAKING CARS!"

"You clearly have never been hit by a car."

"And you have??"

"No, that's what I'm working on preventing."

stupid thing i came up with in @definitelynotshouting's dms the other day that deserves to be shared with the world:

modern au where all the hermits work in offices/are at university but postgrad/some other generic semi-professional environment or whatever. everyone thinks scar is a crypto bro, bc he knows more about cryptocurrency than a non-enthusiast would, and also is a Known Gullible Idiot. it just kinda tracks that he got suckered into a crypto scheme somewhere along the way. several people try to gently dissuade him from it, but most think nothing of it.

and then the crypto crash happens.

etho and doc (who also both kind of got into cryptocurrency, but only a lil bit, and mostly bc they thought the tech was kinda rad; they didn't lose much, but are still a bit bummed) are like "awww, scar, man you must be really sad :( it's okay, we're here for you :("

except scar's like. What. and when they go, "oh well you know, you've lost all your money in crypto," scar's like. ".......you thought i was buying crypto? oh no no. i've had five different pump and dump coin schemes, and three separate lines of nfts. actually, i'm pretty sure it was friendcoin that precipitated the crash. no, no, all my money is in cold hard us dollars in an untraceable swedish bank account :)"

and doc and etho suddenly realise they're in the presence of a multimillionnaire and also, more importantly, a seasoned and unrepentant bastard.
