I know you've become a celebrity news blog kind of against your will lol so you don't have to answer this, but I was thinking about the main pop girl stories this year & how it's escalated and it putting TS' situation into perspective helpfully. Because it's like: woman loses the man she thought she'd marry, acts petty, has a lil menty b, dates hideous rebound for four weeks, dips. MH's disgusting comments and behaviour aren't her fault, and they're fling is over now, she's distances herself. Her history of being a lovely human being is so long that a bad choice with a nasty man is forgivable. Then AG's affair. It's gross and distasteful, horrible for his wife and child, she and the sponge should be mocked until the end of time, but you mentioned how it's not that unusual. It's shitty but people do this, and Hollywood has a ton of these stories. It didn't ruin Angelina, and everyone involved in that was WAY more famous. Why is it our business who everybody's sleeping with if we're here for the art? Maybe it's because I don't care that much about AG, but she has the bad relationship track record that people think TS has. This isn't that off brand for her and doesn't really change my opinion. Wicked will be good or bad separate from them. But then there's Lizzo. Building a brand on acceptance and lifting ppl up only to be exposed as emotionally manipulative, abusive, literal sexual harassment (or is it assault?), mistreating people who work for you. That's low and despicable. That I can't forgive because that speaks to the heart of the art itself as hollow. All three of them earned their careers but I don't fuck w someone who shames and traumatises others. You know? Personal mistakes with fuckboys and causing harm to your workers are hugely different topics but sometimes online stans don't seem to get that.

remember when my asks were mostly fictional character meta, but then i was unhappy with how the stories unfolded and for various reasons had to distance myself from the respective fandoms, and now we're here. 😳 i opened the door to discussion though, it's okay! if/when i'm not comfortable with something, i don't feel pressured about it anymore, i answer what i can.
so there's a lot to unpack here, and i'm not even sure where to begin with the layers of it, but want to preface this by saying anything i reply is not directed at *you*, but rather a general sort of observation.
these stories are all very different and require different responses, so it's a little tricky that they're being compared at all, even though i get it because they all involve very famous women in music. i think one of the first issues to reflect on here is, in fact, the way we approach and discuss things involving successful women and the almost ravenous hunger to take them down a peg the moment they show a flaw or make a bad choice. while i don't condone the things that man has said and done, it's curious to me how quickly it turned into a conversation of taylor being tainted by him forever, an odd melding of shaming and blaming that went beyond the careful concern regarding awareness and accountability. it was upsetting for many fans, myself included, but thankfully brief, and the intentional distancing made moving on the healthier choice. with ariana, infidelity is terrible and the story has several "juicy" angles that are easy to glom onto and laugh about, and the situation is ongoing, but ultimately is it our business? it's not a positive reflection on her character, but is it something that changes her overall abilities? obviously i am far more familiar with taylor's person and history than i am with ariana (or lizzo, but we'll get there), so i know how taylor is always reported to have treated people, to have shown her character, and her consistent graciousness has the most weight to me. i don't know exactly what ari's overall reputation is in that sense. but the concept of...forgivableness...regarding private mistakes or bad choices is difficult to parse. i've talked about the necessity for willingness to extend grace and allow for growth a lot, but of course everyone decides individually where/when/how they can offer that, especially to artists they admire but don't know. i feel like romantic missteps are less our purview than open bigotry or criminal actions, if that makes sense. one scandal doesn't equal another. do fans have the right to expect an apology? with ari, is that even fair to ask when the only person/people who really deserves that is his wife (and his child) and possibly her husband? where is that line between the personal and the public?
you mentioned angelina, and i've seen others bring up the debbie reynolds/eddie fisher/elizabeth taylor affair, but there are a lot of differences there considering in both of those cases, all the people involved were very famous. lilly is not a public figure, and ethan was not particularly known before this (even as a broadway fan, i'd somehow never heard of him). and yet, despite debbie being america's sweetheart, and elizabeth's reputation with lovers, neither of them were colored by that forever (though carrie worked it hilariously into her writing and show), debbie even forgave liz later in life and they made up, which was her choice. i never associate liz with her scandalous accounts because she was so much greater than that alone, but i've mentioned before that unfortunately i couldn't be a fan of anyone from old hollywood if messy romantic entanglements were deal breakers, so, again, that's in however one individually chooses to approach it.
then there's lizzo. i liked her, but only casually knew a little about her. the allegations are horrendous, and i'm not going to sugarcoat that, but at the same time, the idea of it being unforgivable and permanently destroying gives me pause only because of the tone of the conversation. granted, they've never done anything abusive like this, but taylor and ariana are both thin white women from privileged backgrounds (upper middle class and very upper class respectively). there's a little too much glee from some in canceling a plus size black woman who represented a lot of positivity for many in her audience, and for people who are underrepresented, in reveling in the fact that she's been "revealed" as nasty. the concept of what's "unforgivable" concerns me slightly. it's disappointing (and disturbing) behavior, no doubt. yet so many far worse people, especially men, have gotten total passes for heinous actions. it doesn't mean she should be given free reign to mistreat people with impunity, she absolutely should not. i fully support her dancers in speaking out, and anyone who's been mistreated working for her, it's awful, and they deserve better and were right to file the suit. i hope they get reparation and support through this. but do we destroy and write off lizzo forever, or do we hope there's some room for her to learn and change? when men guilty of criminal abuse are still thriving? is there a way for her to even make amends? what does it mean if there isn't? and i truly don't know the answers.
this is all rhetorical, but i do...stop and wonder if sometimes online commentary is fervent for comeuppance aimed at successful women, and even if the discussion is deserved and begins reasonably, it gets taken really far - it starts casting them as permanently stained, sinful [insert slur here], divas, armchair diagnosing them with personality disorders (i have seen malignant narcissism and BPD invoked way too often, and not only is that crossing a line, it also increases stigma against people really dealing with those diagnoses), shaming their bodies, their sexuality, their writing, their fundamental existences beyond what the core of the story is, and i feel like some caution is warranted in that regard.
all that said, i totally get where you're coming from on seeing the levels of seriousness here. and there are markedly disparate personalities, circumstances, behaviors, and reactions involved in each of these stories, and different levels of upset and emotion too. maybe amends can be made and maybe they can't, and sometimes we can healthily move on, and sometimes something is too serious and requires further consequence. harmful bigotry/isms and abuse deserve whatever vitriol they get, like criminal actions require adjudication, but do poor choices about bedfellows? we certainly can't solve any of it, our only power is in response, and the one thing i try my best to do is remember that we're talking about real human beings, and however that can be handled appropriately and within reason for each individual.

vmin drabble | m | just married and they’re cute about it! just a load of fluff!
They stumble into the room and it’s beautiful, or so they sort of remember from when they checked the website. Right now they can’t take their eyes off each other, or their hands, or their lips, or their legs, which is proving an issue for balance for the moment. They get all tangled and Taehyung lands on the bed, Jimin flopping onto his chest and they kiss sloppy and wet, tongues licking uncoordinated and delicious and familiar and- and it’s so funny. This morning they were boyfriends. Now they’re husbands. The kisses fade into laughter, Taehyung pulling Jimin further up so he can see but Jimin’s wriggling, laughing with his whole body and Taehyung feels himself lose the battle with Jimin’s infectious joy is. He loves him. Fuck, he loves him so much.
“Jimin, Jimin, did you,” Taehyung can’t stop giggling, “Did you see Uncle Boon on the karaoke?”
“Stop, he…” Jimin gets a teeny weeny dizzy spell and Taehyung keeps holding him up. Finally he hiccups and carries on, “He shouldn’t’ve had all that crab…”
He rolls over and they’re kissing again, Jimin grabbing Taehyung’s collar and pulling him down to smack a long hard one to his lips, peppering them all over his face. Taehyung laughs more, feels like he might float away but it’s okay, it’s all okay because Jimin will always catch him before he’s lost.
They’re dispensing with their fancy white shirts when suddenly Jimin sits up.
“Baby!” he declares, “Baby, my husband, my fuckin’… Ugh! Love of my life, my afterlife too, probably, um…”
Taehyung traces his knuckles over Jimin’s cheek. The gold band is beautiful on his skin. Jimin catches his uncurled fist, kisses it quickly, grins at him, his eyes smiling and lovely, “Yes, my special guiding light, my love?”
“I wanna fuuuuuck,” Jimin whines. “You wanna fuck, right?”
“I’d love to fuck,” Taehyung intones, his voice calm and dripping like honey, “And we’re gonna fuck.”
“Wait.”
“Hmm?”
Jimin kisses Taehyung’s hand again. “I wanna… in addition to terrific fucking, make love.”
“Shh, okay. Greasy,” Taehyung sits up and watches Jimin instantly make room for him. How they move together… it’s really something. “Gay.”
“Yeah!” Jimin agrees without a second of hesitation, alcohol making him unashamed and so happy. Or maybe it’s the day. “Yeah, I’m really gay and I love you.”
“Jimin,” Taehyung drags Jimin onto his lap, sucks a nipple into his mouth just to hear Jimin moan. He wants to feel every particle of him, make themselves indistinguishable from the other. “Fuck.”
They get quiet, Jimin’s weight so comfortable and right pressed up against Taehyung. He draws his fingers through his hair and it makes Taehyung groan. “Taetae, you looked so pretty tonight, you know how handsome and pretty and mine you are?”
“How handsome and pretty and your’s am I?”
“The… most.”
“Very accurate,” Taehyung emphasises his point by laying a quick smack to the meat of Jimin’s ass.
“Mmm,” Jimin rolls his hips back onto Taehyung’s lap and hums loud like he’s melting. “I’m gonna fuck you ’til you cry, Tae.”
“You’d better,” Taehyung grins slowly and Jimin puts his finger to Taehyung’s lips, dark look on his face.
“Seriously.”
“I take your threats very seriously, darling,” Taehyung breathes, takes Jimin’s tiny fingers in his own, presses the tips of them to his mouth, the cold of the ring against his chin. He sighs. “Oh, Jimin.”
Jimin leans in conspiratorially, eyes flickering. He’s so bright. He’s so fucking beautiful. “I have a plug in - hic! - inside me.”
Taehyung raises his eyebrows. “You had a plug in during our vows?”
“What?” Jimin snorts, just the tiniest bit of snot coming out too, and thoughtlessly Taehyung swipes it away with the cuff of his sleeve. “No, that’s like… my grandma would’ve known, for sure. Put it in just after we cut the cake.”
“I love you.”
Jimin tilts his head, his voice tight, “I love you…”
“No, Jimin, I know you don’t believe me when I say it,” Taehyung squishes Jimin’s face between his hands and he doesn’t know if it’s the alcohol or just Jimin, everything about him, but he’s never felt so alive as he does right now. “I know you don’t always hear it. But I love you, more than my heart can contain, sometimes. It fills me up, it makes me so warm. Makes me feel light, makes me feel like a fuckin’ star.”
“I believe you, baby,” Jimin says, teetering on the verge of tears.
“C’mere,” Taehyung murmurs, as if they could get any closer without fusing. “Keep me warm.”
“You fuckin’ lizard…”
“Your fuckin’ lizard,” he says plainly. “I’m your’s Jiminie. Stuck with me.”
Jimin snuggles against him, moans a little as his back clicks and Taehyung smooths a hand over his back. “Never thought I’d have someone like you… Never thought I’d… feel like I belong somewhere like I do, here…” He sounds sleepy and safe, as he should, as he should feel for the rest of their lives. “I like that you’re my home, Taehyungie.”
They doze like that, Jimin’s breathing so soft Taehyung wonders if he’s asleep. He spots the remote and, ah, KBS has a special on SNSD tonight…
He strokes a hand through Jimin’s hair, kisses it when Jimin stirs a little. “Can I watch TV?”
“Baby, it’s our wedding night!” If he had the energy he’d probably be kicking his legs out. “My plug!”
“You’re so tired, Jimin,” Taehyung reasons, even if he’s still at half-mast. He grins at Jimin’s pout and giggles a little. “We can fuck in the morning.”
“You’re not even gonna finger me?” Taehyung just grabs fistfuls of Jimin’s ass, both hands. “Ah, ah,” and yet even as Taehyung leaves the slightest graze of his fingernails over Jimin’s cheeks, red lines on goose-bumped skin, he recognises the way Jimin slumps against him, completely relaxed and definitely falling asleep. “Ah, feels… hmm…”
“Baby?” He stops, kisses his forehead again, slowly.
Jimin hums, his eyes closed. “Hold me?”
“Always.”
“Always always?”
Just one more kiss. “I promised, didn’t I?”
“Promise,” Jimin slurs, kissing Taehyung’s chest, pats it reassuringly as he snuggles up as close as he can. “Yeah. Love you, Tae.”

Tyrion stans think that he is actually a blessing to Westroes and everyone will like him. If not then everyone are ableist. Point is Starks and Lannisters feud is always the plot from beginning. It's just Tyrion stans think he is a good guy and is not going to be like his family basically like Dany. Plus show whitewashed him. Tyrion is never going to be ally of starks. No Starks have high opinion of him even Jon was shocked by him killing Tywin.
yup, exactly. he's the wise, intelligent, charming underdog hero of his own story who just can't catch a break and it's the fault of all these women around him - and we cut to an outsider perspective or divorce ourselves from the pov trap and it turns out he's rancid as shit. I feel like this whenever some stan rolls up in my inbox full well knowing I don't like his ass and they're still trying to defend his actions:

I'll just reiterate that tyrion is a villain because of what he does - he just happens to also have a sympathetic background as he is a disabled man living in westeros who happens to have a really, really shitty dad who should've dropped dead a long time ago (it's westeros unfortunately so I can't even say tywin is the worst father, there's so many options, but being that he is a cunt, I'd say he makes the top 5 list). and I usually would add on that that's kind of what in part makes he and dany really interesting villains - dany moreso than he but whatever - but then they bring up shae. and they never come outright and say it to me anymore, but they imply that her "lesser" status not as a commoner but as a sex worker he paid for she should've been grateful and put her neck on the line for a man who didn't actually care about her and murders her for betraying him and sleeping with his father... I won't get into it again, I'm quite sure anyone who reads this is probably aware of how much I hate that reasoning.
and you're right - tyrion was never set up to be an ally. what he was was the only lannister to not directly attack the starks in the very beginning. that's it. the low bar. he was kind of the trojan horse here: he wasn't the immediate villain...until he is. (and yes I'm referencing when he agrees to tywin's plot to marry off sansa to him and he "wants" her and the north ugh gross)

Arianne already doubts Dany as she believed that Dany allowed her husband to kill Viserys. Dany will going to face many hurdles in westroes. Imagine if people in westroes believed that she killed Viserys to usurp his throne. Plus Jorah, Tyrion and Selmy didn't have good reputation in westroes. Martells will think that she is responsible for Quentyn death even she wasn't there when he got burned. Top of that she had foreign armies who are basically known for destructions and going to have cultural clash. Combined them with 3 WMDs and infamous Targ reputation, she will not be easily trustable. If people got to know about her reign in Essos and what she did there I don't think her 'good intentions' and 'kind heart' are going to earn her any favours. Dany is very proud of her heritage, family, her dragons, her power not knowing that they are also her negative points.
Right?! While we understand why Viserys needed to die, in addition to how it makes her look to people who don’t, Dany will be associated with a kinslayer (Tyrion), which just compounds how bad it looks to others. Here’s the quote from Arianne’s TWOW sample chapter:

"Everyone says that Prince Rhaegar was beautiful. Was Viserys beautiful as well?"

"We cannot know," Ser Daemon said. "We can only hope."
I think you’re right about Quentyn too. I feel like this is a set up for the Martells to assume the very worst when they learn that Quentyn is dead and will push them to fully support Aegon. And of course, it doesn't matter if Dany believes Aegon isn't who he says he is, if in her mind he is the usurper, if the Martells or Starks or Westerosi as a whole believe him, there she goes again. Killing family that stands in the way of her and the throne.
The mention of Jorah is interesting too because we first learn of him as a slaver who ran from Ned Stark (from the King's justice). So, that's another connection point we have between her and the Starks and how they're on opposing sides from the beginning. I know Dany stans say we're slavery apologists, but we're told from the beginning that the slave trade is already a punishable crime in Westeros, and then we get Dany who not only marries into a culture that practices it (she isn't responsible for that), she herself uses forced labor, buys a slave army, and then profits off of slavery. So, while her stans view her as a crusader against slavery, she's on the opposite side of this as the Starks.
Also, it's interesting that Jon, who so desperately wants to escape the reputation of a bastard and wants to make Ned proud of him learns of what a heartbreak Jorah was from his father. So, not only is his a morally gross person (slaver and also a creeper on Dany), Jon's daddy issues condition him to be appalled by the man as well.
Others have pointed out how upsetting it is that Martin took care with creating the culture of the FF (showcasing good and bad), and failed to do that with the Dothraki, falling into racist depictions of them, so I suppose it is too much to hope for anything good there in the future. He will undoubtedly write carnage upon their arrival in Westeros.
I still think there's a chance that Jon believes he needs the dragons to fight the others, but there is simply no way people are cool with being conquered by a person with those dragons and those armies. I mean, we already have sentiments like this,
"Instead the girl turns up on Slaver's Bay and leaves a string of burning cities in her wake..." (ADWD, The Lost Lord)
There is so much for Dany to overcome before she has even arrived in Westeros, and we know she will burn KL, so it isn’t like she will prove people wrong. I really don't think there's any chance the Martells or Starks will buy that she has a good heart. 😬

While I'm on this topic, I've also seen rogan fans especially after the revival make these ridiculous dumb remarks like "don't let Jess convince you into being the starving artist Rory! You're spoiled and privileged, just marry Logan!" or even gross comments that demean Rory for simply....not wanting to be Logan's side-chick that he keeps stashed away in one of his father's houses??? It's just so bizarre seeing their takes on how Rory is inherently a spoiled rich girl who can't LIVE without luxury and wealth as if we don't see her continue to go back to living with her mother or living in less-than-stellar apartments because that is what her paycheck allows her to afford.....and also wtf is up with the whole "starving artist Jess" drag?? Last time I checked Jess is still running his independent publishing house, is beefed up and has his own place, and willingly goes to Stars Hollow to check up on Luke and Liz. I'm sorry that y'all are this insecure about yourselves but Jess seems to be doing just fine, and unlike Logan, doesn't depend upon any of his parents' approval in order to continue living his life the way he wants to. Imagine trying to drag Jess for living as a writer/publisher when your fave needs his dad's approval to marry at 35.....
SORRY I DIDN'T ANSWER THIS SOONER BUT!! that kind of take really just shows how those r*gans in particular really actually hate rory. if you liked her, you wouldn't want her to be in a relationship whose selling point is that they're both horrible and deserve each other. I resent the idea that rory is "horrible" (she has privilege, but she is far from spoiled and ungrateful, and this is not the time but I will spend hours defending this point if anyone asks), but logan definitely doesn't make her want to be the best version of herself. or any version of herself, really. but the fact that they demean her for not wanting to put up with his shitty treatment is so fucked up for sooo many reasons god and to just completely and straight up lie about her character and who she is to fit the narrative they want to push... and god, I feel like they totally miss the point that wealth is not a good or bad thing!! it's neutral, it's what you do with it or how it affects you. and not having it doesn't mean that you aren't good or aren't successful. jess doesn't need to make millions to be happy. he is very successful and came very far and has a very good heart and none of this is tainted by him not having millions of dollars. it's just so fucked up that the stans are actually... looking down at characters who aren't wealthy for no reason except defending a fictional man. god

By "everyone being disrespectful", do you mean all the people who are criticizing and judging people for being sad Nolan has been traded? Same. It just seems needlessly unkind when people are sad. Let them feel their feels. How anyone feels is legitimate, doesn't mean they need to examine their lives or their priorities. Like, I'm married and have kids and a very happy and fulfilled life. But I'm sad. It doesn't mean I'm not a "real hockey fan" (give me a break on that front) or that I don't have a real life or need to get one. The fact is, during the long quarantine, a lot of people turned to following players a lot. Reading fic etc. It got them through. People can be sad and don't deserve all the sarcastic judgment and eye rolling and superiority. Like, if it bothered you so much that people liked Pat or Bromance shipped Pat and tk, why are you speaking up now, right when people are hurting--and probably hurting for reasons you can't understand. Like that following these players helps with anxiety, depression, being on the spectrum etc. I for one am autistic and I tend to develop massively deep "special interests", a hallmark of autism. So before these people hand out judgment like candy, they should possibly check and see if they're speaking from a place of neurotypical privilege. Everyone becomes a fan for their own reasons and those may evolve. They may include a nerd alert level of hockey knowledge or they may only stan certain players. But just like these people are saying we know nothing about the players, these posters know nothing about the people they are judging. Thanks for letting me share this in a safe space.

You know I laugh whenever Benedict/Sophie stans claim that anyone who wants a male love interest for benedict hates woman, when I always see them write about Philip Cavendar courting either Rosamund or Cressida. Bc ofcourse being courted by a rapist is ok - if we don’t like the woman or we don’t agree with her. Sure they are both horrible but why would anyone want them to be interested in Cavendar, as a sort of karma. Do they not understand how cruel it would be for them to marry Cavendar, no matter how horrible they are!! This fandom is always acting like misogyny is ok when the woman is a bully/horrible or gets in the way of a couple.
tbh I don't pay much attentions to the Benophie world since I find them deeply boring as a couple. But it's questionable (if not gross) to masquerade homophobia as feminism as far as I can tell.
As for Phillip Cavender... yeah, clearly people tend to equate the punishment for a bitchy woman with the punishment for a man who was goddamn rapist, which is... an issue, I think, but JQ also tends to punish the regency equivalent of schoolroom (female) bullies harshly by destroying their lives (Cressida) or suggesting that the man who tried to rape Sophie literally 1 chapter ago is now attempting to court Rosemund, while the men (see: all the abusive dads in the Bridgerton series) get away scot free, so I guess they're just following in her footsteps...?

something i've noticed, a lot of the 'homophobic gay hehe' JC stans often overlap with the 'reading gay fanfic is fetishising' type people, like maybe i'm looking at this with conspiracy goggles too much but i think its pretty suspicious that these people don't care for the main bi character, stan the only homophobic character, say he's gay but insist any fics, art ect actually depicting gayness is ~gross problematic fetishistic~ ,, like it kinda seems like they're freaked out by any actual depiction of queerness, they're happy to SAY a character is gay, as long as they don't do anything acually, you know, gay.
It’s the same old “Queer stuff is great as long as it follows Exactly This Template” nonsense. And this is how we get people saying two characters who never so much as hug are better gay representation than two men getting married because the latter involves *gasp* two men having sex in a couple of extremely easy-to-skip scenes. Which is fetishization and bad, because it’s not like Sometimes Romance Novels Have Sex Scenes And Those Sex Scenes Are Generally Designed To Titillate or Sometimes Gay People Do In Fact Have Sex or anything. And yeah, insisting that the greatest character is the homophobic straight guy and then claiming that he’s gay (which, y’know, footage not fucking found but whatever) for shipping purposes is uh... well, let’s just say it’s tone deaf at best.

I know I'm pretty late with this but I just want to thank you for all the no-bullshit answers over Siena stans. At first I was actually pretty sympathetic towards them and could understand people being weird about her because she's fucking Anthony, but the blatant tone-deaf comparisons between her and ANY of the black characters, only being interested in Simon as a character when Siena should fuck him because Anthony "needs to suffer ;)" or when he refers to his affair with her OR acting like shipping the only two black characters that are male and female on the show is somehow them being better than any of the other fans while deliberately ignoring Kate being a dark-skinned Indian woman now and the context that could likely come with that, not to mention the insane notion that somehow, a white woman like Siena suffers JUST AS MUCH AND EVEN MORE as these black characters who we see suffer 10 times more on this show just broke the camel's back to me. Like complaining about ~classism and comparing it to racist writing while erasing a woc and placing Siena as some would-be daughter of her parents (which in this context would literally be them wanting Indian immigrants to care for a British white woman in the 19th century....) is not y'all being Aware, it's being blatantly tone-deaf and racist. No amount of "you guys just hate sex workers :,(" is gonna erase this. I hate how they think they're being So Smart with calling out the classism issues in the show while conveniently buying into the bullshit "~racism doesn't exist anymore sweeties~" argument that the narrative TRIED to sell to us while at the same time having some obvious issues with the characters of color and how they're focused on and even framed against the white ones. And even now, thinking that them obsessing over this white female character and considering it them being Different and Better than the rest of the fans? Nah y'all are just being terrible at this point. It's only gonna get worse once season 2 comes out and they'll only enforce the whole "~racism doesn't exist sweeties~" excuse in order to be blatantly racist in any of the Kate hate and comparisons they'll likely make in order to tear her down as a love interest and wife to Anthony in order to prop their white fave up. No matter how much they wanna pretend otherwise, Siena's role as a sex worker doesn't erase the fact that she's a conveniently attractive white thin woman that fans will sooner flock to ship with Anthony than with Kate now, given the casting.
One final complaint, but I also find it ironic how they wanna pretend that Kate is apparently gonna be some carbon-copy of Siena just because her character description and moments with Anthony will include her 'calling him out on his bs'. As if the book where she is a legitimate character didn't exist a full DECADE before Siena was created. Literally all the specific traits for their fave can be traced back to Kate and how they were sooner inspired BY Kate as a character in creating Siena than the other way around. Like calling Anthony out on his shit? Anthony having a thing for her hair? Those are canon stuff in the book where Kate is introduced. Their fave is neither original nor going to be the Staple for Kate, but they'll never admit this.

I agree with all of this. To be honest, a lot of the obsession with Siena seems rooted in deep-seated racism and a preference for the precious white woman. They are using the show to back this up, as you said, because the show handled race horribly. But because the show handled race horribly and has widely been criticized by people of color on that front, it just reinforces my perception of the most intense stans as like.... deeply racist. Coupled, of course, with the idea that Kate’s family would LOOOOOVEEEEEEE PORCELAIN SKINNED SIENA!!!! WHOSE SKIN WE LOVE!!!!! MILKY WHITE BABES!!!!
These people of color, from Kate’s family (who by the way, most of these stans get wrong because they haven’t read the source material--I see a lot of references to Kate’s alive parents which uhhhhhhh not only are they both dead but they’re both dead in a PLOT IMPORTANT WAY lmao) to Simon to Kate herself are only used to prop up Siena. Simon is used to make Anthony jealous, because to many white women watching this show, some supposed Simon/Daphne stans included, Simon does not exist as anything other than a sex object because he’s a hot black man. Simon is literally reduced to a virtual sex toy or figure of animalistic sexual desire by so many people who watch this show, it’s INSANELY gross. Called out for racism? But we ship Simon and Marina together, so we can’t beeee!!!
I do disagree with you a bit on Siena’s personality, largely because I didn’t.... see much of one. I don’t think the writers intentionally took anything from Kate there, I think they just were like “ah yes, a low-class sex worker, she’s gonna say ‘ell guvna fancy a fuck luv” but also argue with him because we can’t think of anything else for her to do or any other way to mine humor out of her.
I also see a lot of conflation of racism and classism by these people, and... no. Regardless of your class, if you are a person of color in the western world, you have probably experienced racism. I mean, fuck, we just saw an entire expose about how you can enter the royal family in England and experience intense racism. Regardless of whether or not Siena is lower class, she will never experience the type of adversity that people experience with racism. There’s this desperate attempt to pretend that what Siena experiences is the same as racism, which is clearly an attempt to make an excuse to dog Kate.
But ultimately tbh none of this matters in terms of what will be ON THE SHOW (editing to clarify: of course it matters in terms of what it reflects re: racism and how harmful it is to people of color who have to see it). Season 2 is going to happen. I’ll hedge my bets now that it’ll be wildly popular. Kate will be loved by the vast majority of people watching. These people will have even less content than they do now and they’ll show their asses even more and get dog piled on or fade away. Kate and Anthony are about as canon as it gets. Anthony canonically says that she’s the best he’s ever had lmao, she is the love of his life, he marries her and she pops out several babies for him. So I’m just getting ready to drink my Kate Sharma Stan Juice when that season releases, because racists are gonna be racist especially when they have a white woman to worship. But I know what I know.

Ok so I thought I'd put together some horror stories from my time as a babymetal fan bc of how drastic the shift in the fandom has been the past year or so. For context I got into babymetal in like june of 2014 (all 3 girls were still underage at the time, I was 22; when I first got into them I thought I would be considered an older fan lmao the naivete, the innocence of new fan me wow I know now I'm not at all in the older half of the fandom esp considering I was born the same decade as su and moa), and I made this blog in I think may of 2015.
I've had people say I should compile men being gross into a post and I just couldn't do that out of fear for my own mental health but this will be pretty close. These are all my experiences with this fandom over the years; I'm definitely missing some but what I do remember should do well to cover most of how this fandom used to be vs now. It's gonna be a lot and tw for men being gross about minors.
Back in my first year or so of this blog I on multiple occasions got dms from men asking to be friends. At the time my bio only said my name and my pronouns. I've always been cautious of dms so I'd ask their age and every single one was considerably older than me. I wouldn't usually answer after that bc no thanks but they would generally try to continue convos til I blocked. The only one I still had was this one
After I put my age in my bio, which was 23 at the time, I never got a dm like that again; take from that what you will. But if you're young please be wary of this hell fandom even now. And if you're an older fan and esp an older male fan reading this, don't dm people trying to be friends. I was over 18 and it still creeped me out to no end.
One of my real first men in this fandom are disgusting moments was a blog back in like 2015 or 2016 who I had some contact with due to common interests; he was a huge yui stan and made bm content. He was like 28 or 29 at the time and I eventually noticed he would tag idols, mostly kpop girls, by their body parts (legs, butt, etc) which is disgusting enough as it is but then I saw him do the same for literal minors, like tzuyu from twice. I messaged him asking what the hell he was doing objectifying women but also actual children and he blocked me lmao. He later unblocked me to let me know that's just how he tagged things and it was my fault he had anxiety and then he blocked me again.
Back before the tumblr purge this fandom was repulsive to a degree I cannot even begin to describe. Someone would reblog something from me, I'd go to their blog and it would be underage jpop idols and japanese p*rn all the way down. I even stumbled upon a man editing underage su into p*rn gifs. Obviously no proof of that but I did go find my initial reaction to it
The number of times I'd get a follow from someone then go to their blog and it would be as mentioned above or their bio would be the most misogynistic trash I'd ever read was staggering. I genuinely considered giving up and deleting this blog so many times bc i felt oberwhelmed and outnumbered by these gross old dudes; and so the fact that this fandom has evolved into a bunch of chaotic wlw?? Amazing, I could cry.
Fun phenomenon of women running bm blogs was men sending messages asking if we liked babymetal. No joke. I think this happened to me two or three times but I spoke w other female creators at the time and it had happened to them as well. My entire blog is babymetal, and yet???
He said the weird guy idk bc he sent some random ass messages vaguely insulting me and when I responded coldly, he acted confused so I said you're some guy idk, hence the above message starting as such. Also that pic and the one up above that has my current pfp bc I just took those screenshots. Like I said I typically blocked weird dms but I guess these passed me by so I still had the messages.
Most people know the sub reddit is the worst and don't need me to tell you but it's a hellscape and I highly recommend avoiding it. A short list of things I've had to see as a result of going there: men discussing at length kano and momoko's appearances and how they look in costume vs in normal clothes. Men discussing at length the hope that the girls would marry men who aren't Japanese, a thread that was from when all 3 girls were underage. They aren't gonna marry you dude they're really not.
The insulting of billie Eilish, a 17 year old at the time, was horrible too. Su and moa got to meet her, something they were extremely excited for, and they posted a pic; the comments were disgusting as you can imagine. The yui rumors were terrible too, fatshaming, slutshaming etc all based on nothing. Some man saying the rumors about yui leaving bc, no joke this was a real rumor, she "got too fat" couldn't be true bc "look at saya." Saya being a barely 18 yo back up dancer who covered the third spot after yui left but before the avengers. Not to mention the upskirt shots from when they were minors, the constant editing of their faces onto explicit photoshoots etc. I remember being a new fan looking for a su pic on google and being horrified at the fact that one of the top suggested results after her name was “bikini;” she was 16 at the time. Also, the uptick in massively creepy posts and messages sent to bm blogs as each girl, but esp moa and yui, approached 18 was disgusting.
Now for some personal nonsense. A big reason why I haven't touched my youtube channel in months is bc I got tired of dealing with the men of this fandom. I poke fun at metal and get told I deserve to die. I say ped*philes and creepy men are gross and get a swarm of middle aged men cursing at me. Had a guy cry about how men are shamed for liking bm and then he turned around and said some gross shit about wlw. Had a guy call me racist for liking a band he also likes (and despite him having no way of knowing my own race) and tell me the babymetal fandom doesn't need my kpop feminist bullshit, which is honestly a great description and I thought about putting it in my yt about lmao. Had a middle aged man unironically say he'd never seen a man be creepy towards bm but fans su and moa's ages calling them hot was creepy. The disillusionment....the level of unawareness is astounding. If you want to see screenshots of some of these comments they are fairly recent in my don't mind me tag; I don't want to see them anymore tho bc they're infuriating so I'm not going to look at them to post here.
Essentially I haven't looked at my channel since may bc men are exhausting and rude and refuse to examine the fandoms they're a part of no matter what. They're told by a woman of the fandom that she's had bad experiences personally and they all start crying about how it's either a lie bc they haven't seen it or unimportant. I did stop reading comments in may and I will never read another one again probably as a result of this shit. Trash men being trash are not worth my time and I refuse to give them anymore of it. I do plan on making more videos tho and let my ~feminist kpop bullshit~ live in their minds rent free.
I will also continue to make fun of metal and the creepy men in this fandom bc it's important and I'm a spiteful asshole who likes disrupting these dudes perfect bubble of a fandom. It genuinely brings me so much joy seeing all the new fans recently (which sidenote if you got into them recently I am kinda curious as to how you found them; I've gotten tons of new followers and considering how inactive they are rn I'm curious). People sending messages about how they finally feel like they belong or that they have a safe space....like I don't even know what to say and I never feel like my responses fully convey how genuinely wonderful that is and how thrilled I am that this is where we're at now and I have had at least some part in it. As this post shows, my experiences have been negative for the most part so the shift recently is such a relief I cannot even begin to explain my gratitude.
So to anyone who read all of this and hasn't disintegrated from the male bullshit, thank you. Keep being yourself and fighting for your place in this fandom, esp if you're a young woman; keep making fun of the creeps and keep making wlw memes!! Babymetal's music is in such a huge way meant for girls and to see more and more finding their way to this previously hellish beyond belief fandom is incredible.

I wasn't surprised at all to find out he was messaging girls who are new to the industry and 13 years younger than him, and apparently he was messaging other younger women as well saying shit like "you should know who I am". I'm not saying he's abusive, idk him like that so that would be a big accusation and out of pocket. but from what I can see there's a pattern of targeting people who are like... more vulnerable than him? and I don't like it.

Your son chanted it happily as he played with the two minister dolls, you giggled at him as you and Kyojuro set up the appliances miniature "You're really in high spirits, aren't you (S/N)?" You asked with a smile as your son, who had Kyojuro's beaming smile, nodded vigorously "Of course I am!! This is celebration for Nee-chan to be a big and strong woman!! I'm so happy! And I get to be the minister in Rengoku castle!!" Your daughter smiled at him as she helped you setting up the dankazari
"Yes you are, (S/N)! You're the greatest minister in Rengoku castle! Everyone came to seek out a wisdom from the wise and strong (S/N)!" Kyojuro said as he lift up your son as he giggled and raise his arms as if he was flying

(D/N) asked as she show the doll of the o-dairi-sama and o-hina-sama, which looked like you and your husband, "We put it on top, sweetheart" she nodded and try to put them on the top of the platform, but her small and short body were unable to reach it
You chuckled at her "Here, let me help" you lift her up as she put the two dolls on top and carefully adjust it, when it looked right, she smiled in satisfaction "Thanks mom/dad!" You smiled and carefully put her down "You're welcome dear, now let's set up the princesses dolls on the second row" (D/N) smiled and nodded as he took out the princesses dolls
"Ooh, ooh! I wanna set up the minister dolls!!"
"By all means" you smiled and let him set up the two daijin (minister) doll and look at it with a beaming smile on his face "Now minister (S/N) and Senjuro is right where they belong" Kyojuro said as he set up the golden colored byōbu (folding screen) behind the emperor and the princess doll and put on the bombori (paper lantern) on it, Kyojuro backed away for a bit to look at his work.
"It looks good... But I couldn't help but think it's a little plain" you looked at him as you helped (D/N) setting the three princesses dolls, "Hmm, you forget to add the branch from peach blossom tree" Kyojuro then snapped his fingers "So it would seem! No wonder it looks plain, I'm going to get it, so be right back"
As he went to get the required items, you set up the dolls with your children while chatting animatedly
"Thanks for doing this Mom/Dad, you know you don't have to" (D/N) said out of the blue as she help you setting up the musicians doll, you smiled warmly at her "I want to, dear, before you and your dad got married, we thought of doing this when you're born"
"That's right!! We wanna know how you and Dad met!" (S/N) said, his eyes are gleaming with curiosity "Yes mom, we wanna know how you and Dad met! Tell us, please?"
You smiled as pair of innocent big eyes looked at you with such curiosity "Fufu...well I will tell you as we set this platform up"
They nodded as they helped you, you looked so wistful when you remember those days "We usually met each other Everytime we were summoned by Oyakata-sama, some time after that we would talk about so many things and one day he asked me to be his girlfriend/boyfriend!"
"And then?? Did you accept it? Did you became his girlfriend/boyfriend?" (D/N) piped up excitedly "and then you got married and have us right??" (S/N) asked equally excited.

You laughed as you looked at their surprised, cute faces "Yes, I rejected him but I had my reason!"

"He haven't take me to a date, so how can I possibly become official with him?" You said smiling at your children "But why should he take you to a date first?" You chuckled and caressed their hair lovingly "You'll know when you're grow up"
"Boo!! You're just like dad! He always said that too!" (S/N) said crossing his arms puffed his cheeks "Come on, (S/N) Don't be mad, it's grown up things" his sister say sighing, you chuckled at him and squished his cheeks "Your sister is right, you'll understand soon enough, now then!" You say clapping your hand once and looked at the platforms, every doll is almost place except for the servant dolls.
"We're almost finished, (D/N) go get some Tachibana tree miniature and (S/N) get the sakura tree miniature, I'll set up the dolls and the appliances miniatures"

They scrambled up to get the miniatures, and as if on cue, Kyojuro came with plenty peach blossoms branches "My love! I'm back with the branches!"
"Thank you, Kyojuro, let's set them up now" he nodded and helped you set up the branches on the sides of the dankazari "Careful (name)..." you smiled and nodded at him as you set it up, and as it finished, you and Kyojuro step back a bit to admire the work you did with your children.
"It looks great!"
"It will look amazing when we add the miniature of Sakura and Tachibana tree" you smiled and sighed as Kyojuro look at you, slightly concerned "What's wrong, my dear?"
"It's just...well, I heard somewhere we had to float off those dolls to ward off the evil spirits and misfortune, but I can't just do it, (D/N) really likes this, and I grew fond of those dolls too..."
Kyojuro looked at the array of dolls, there is you and him as the emperor and empress, Mitsuri, Shinobu and (D/N) and the princesses, Himejima, Giyuu, Sanemi, Tengen, and Muichiro as musicians and singer, (S/N) and Senjuro as the ministers and there's Iguro posed as the head servant with other two dolls, he smiled and pull you closer to him
"Dear, who says we have to float them off? We can always keep it, I know that you're not always believed myths about misfortune, so why don't we keep it somewhere instead?"
You looked up at him as he kissed your head "besides, it's still can be used for our future granddaughters and our descendants in so many years to come, you don't want it to come to waste right?"
You smiled at him and nodded "You're right, you're always right..."
Kyojuro laughed wholeheartedly and pressed his forehead against yours "I'm not always right, you know?"
You chuckled at him and give him a sweet and slow kiss.
You're just so lucky to have husband like him...
"Eeewww!!!"
"Mom and Dad/Dad and father share cooties!!"
You and Kyojuro hastily pulled away and to see (S/N) and (D/N) had a disgusted expression on their faces with the miniatures on their hands, you smiled and blushed ta them "Let's just pretend you didn't see that"
Your children just huffed their cheeks and put the miniatures on the bottom row.
You and Kyojuro can faintly hear them say "Grown ups are gross" and "It's gross that they're eating each other faces"
You and Kyojuro can only laugh, your kids then backed up a bit to admire their work "Wow it looks pretty!" (D/N) said on awe, (S/N) nodded vigorously with a beaming smile on his face "There is no cooler castle than Rengoku castle!! Mom/Dad, you and father did a great job!!"
Kyojuro smiled and ruffled his son's hair "No (S/N) WE did a great job together" (S/N) giggled and hugged him, as you and (D/N) looked at the dolls with a smile "Here's to hoping you will grow into a fine woman, (D/N)..." You went on your knees so you could be on her height "And don't forget, one day you will give it to your daughters, granddaughters and your descendants in many years to come"
(D/N) smiled and nodded as she hugged you "I will mom/dad, thanks for this" you hugged her back as Kyojuro and (S/N) joins in, you both share a smile and talk about tomorrow's celebration.
You could say this is the life you could've ask for, living happily with your husband and children...
And you wouldn't trade it with anything else.

How is it "shipping it adult Sansa with Sandor" when shippers' favorite comebacks to their critics "our ship is canon 💅 eat that!"? If they were shipping it with adult Sansa it would mean they're just like any other shippers writing their various AUs, no one would mind them then, see how no one cares about Stannis/Sansa, Tywin/Sansa, Willas/Sansa etc. We couldn't care less what people do with their creative work.
But canon is where 28 yo Sandor commented on 11 yo Sansa's developing breasts, canon is where he harassed her, where he was verbally, emotionally and physically abusive towards her. Every word out of his mouth was condescending to her. Canon is where he tried/wanted to rape her when she was 12. Oh wait, they don't think when this grown ass man waits in this girl's bedroom while drunk, pushes the girl on the bed and put a knife to her throat is a rape attempt. Just like they don't accept him saying to Arya "I should have fucked her bloody and ripped her heart out before leaving her for that dwarf" as confession. (Yes he was goading Arya. But 2 things show his mindset: First, he could've just say "I should've killed her, kidnapped her" literally anything else but his mind went straight to rape b/c that was his intention. Second, he regrets Tyrion "gets to have her" and not him. Pleasee...)
No, whoever it is they are lying. Do they think we forget their wonderful interpretations of the text? How they think her throat being dry and tight is a symbol for her not being ready for sex but she will be later winkwink? How they call her nightmare in ASOS, a nightmare triggered by Marillion's rape attempt, a rape attempt that once again includes a drunk men using songs as metaphors for sex (or in her case rape), a sex dream? How they call unkiss "sansa desiring/fantasizing about sandor"? When we all know unkiss is another manifestation of her classic trauma response. She rewrites her memories to make things more bearable. Just like she did it with Joffrey and Arya b/c she was still supposed to marry him and Arya being the guilty one is more bearable than her future husband being a sadistic asshole She separates Petyr the man who "saves" and protects her from the Littlefinger the man who molests her in her mind. She prefers a man who beats her, Ser Arys, to all the other men who beat her b/c he beats her less hard and talks to her cordially. That's Sansa, she paints things more favorably in order to deal with them. Is it any wonder she turned sandor's attack into a song of a knight stealing a kiss from a maiden rather than admitting a man who protected her occasionally also assaulted her? Just like all the other men who protected and/or tried to save had also ulterior motives: Dontos, Littlefinger, Tyrion, Sandor all the same. She was terrified that he'll kiss her and he'll kill her that night, it is literally on the page since she's the pov character not that brute. But she changes the memory to make it more bearable. Still her subconscious reveals how she really feels in her nightmare. Yet according to them all these are proof their relationship is canon and will be endgame.
They only started with this "we only ship adult Sansa" lie when new generation of fans came along and said what the fuck. Back then, Sansa is so universally hated that nobody cared. Everybody was expecting for her to die anyway. So what if she ends up with one of her abusers, it'd just mean she's not around anymore, yay. The only ones they occasionally clashed with were sanrions. It is funny how they (now with LF stans too) keep accusing the other's fave being a pedo/molester/groomer and unfit suitor for Sansa but are totally blind to their own fave. Then due to show, series became more popular, Sansa fandom started to grow, and new Sansa fans along with general fandom told them "you can't read and you're all the same all of you are gross lmao insert that spider-man meme", suddenly "oh no we don't ship them at their current ages." Girl GTFO, you fool no one with that shit when y'all continue to 1) deny Sandor being a pedo and her abuser IN CANON 2) claim sansan is canon.
Jesus Christ this was a journey, but to be clear I do not ship Sansan and I generally avoid it as much as possible, so frankly I have no idea what it’s shippers think or what they like or don’t like or what they find acceptable or unacceptable. Also damn you straight to hell for informing me that Tywin/Sansa is actually a thing, good god that is not an image I want in my brain.
