at the end of a lot of my posts involving toritsuka i always stop myself from elaborating too much cuz i end up thinking like 'ah everyones knows how i feel about toritsuka' but DO THEY ?? do they.. because ive gotten (and ignored) multiple asks from people who think i fucking hate toritsuka and its so insane to me because WHERE DID I FUCKING SAY THAT?? guys.
he is literally so silly! i lowkey feel like i need to make a masterpost of everything ive ever said about him just so that i can force it down everyones throats and make you all understand my complex feelings on this stupid dumb idiotic little freak!
its a love-hate kind of obsession <3

Potion Permit isn't flawless (whyyyyyyy does this small town of like 15 need three cops?) but I'm liking it!
A little disappointed the whole incident that causes the town's distrust of chemists was an oopsie daisy that's quickly resolved. I dunno. Seemed a perfect set up for a whole, "the capital didn't give a fuck and you need to learn to distrust the state and work with rural customs while 'science isn't bad, greed is' is learned by the locals."
But I suppose if that was the plot we wouldn't have THREE fucking cops.
Still, if you like grindy games, it has a pretty solid gameplay loop. The character designs are diverse and pretty good! Aside from Rue, who I think could have been made older.
That said, the writing has a lot of poteeeential, but given what other folks here have mentioned, it doesn't go as far as it could.

Fun bad writing thing: everyone talks about character x as if theyvare uniquely evil, then worst, master manipulator, devoid of feeling, sadism incarnate, twisted and won't stop until the whole world is at their feet, not even then. And it's clear the reader is supposed to agree with these assessments. But. The actual things character x does are like... Fine? Not great but not even the worst actions committed in the story? Usually understandable? And their ~evil manipulation skills~ either never show up or are severely overhyped, however it's clear the author still thinks they've written the Most Nefarious Villain Ever. Bonus if there's some factor that makes this character an outsider who is vulnerable to mischaracterization in this specific way, like gender, ethnicity, class, etc.

this isn't a vague about anything specific just something that last post made me think about but I think it's important we all keep in mind that there's a BIG difference between "this person is totally misinterpreting the text" and "this person's interpretation isn't Wrong but I personally don't like it/don't see it that way"
