Oromis: You see, the great secret, Alvivecia, is not a question of good manners or bad manners, or any particular sort of manners, but having the same manner for all human souls. The question is not whether I treat you rudely, but whether you've ever heard me treat anyone else better.
Alvivecia: I don't care how you treat me. I don't mind your swearing at me. I shouldn't mind a black eye; I've had one before this. But I won't be passed over!
Oromis: Well then, get out of my way, for I won't stop for you. You talk about me as though I were a stampeding horse.
Alvivecia: So you are a horse! All bounce and go, and no consideration for anybody. But I can get along without you. Don't you think I can't!
Oromis I know you can. I told you you could.
Oromis: *pauses*
Oromis, quietly: You've never wondered, I suppose, whether . . . whether I could get along without you.

I cried. I threw up. I shook. I climbed the walls. I cried some more. I tore my hair out. I saw the light. I was on the brink of death. And I cried even more. Charlotte and George were everything and then some. Like my brain chemistry has been permanently altered. I will never be the same. Every time I think about them I’m launched into a brand new mental breakdown. I don’t know how I will recover from this.

i'm struggling to even put into words how i feel about these two scenes.
i honestly wonder how much of house's facial expressions in these moments were hugh laurie's choice and maybe weren't necessarily scripted, because the episode doesn't really offer any kind of conclusion on how jealous and, more importantly, how deeply fucking sad house looks after realizing wilson has been talking to amber.
first off - this happens a lot in this show, but this is one of those huge instances of "oh, how differently this situation would look if one of these characters was a woman." if that were the case, this whole thing would really be quite simple. if house was a proper Opposite Sex Love Interest, him standing at the door hearing the proof that his unrequited crush isn't over his last girlfriend...well, that would make perfect sense. The level of hurt and jealousy house seems to feel about wilson still being in love with amber is. well. it's Something.
so anyway - house gets that genuinely hurt look at three separate points: #1 is when he realizes wilson is talking to amber (and this moment is especially fascinating bc house's main emotion should arguably be relief at the knowledge he hasn't been hallucinating...but that appears to be taking a backseat to his jealousy for a woman who isn't even alive anymore)
#2 is when wilson tells amber that he wasn't able to go for a run tonight because house is having issues. now, this speaks to the broader problem that - even though house knows wilson feeds off neediness - house is still worried about being a burden to wilson and that eventually wilson will not want him anymore.
Then #3 - when wilson says to house's face that talking to amber makes him feel better when he misses her, and house doesn't. This moment is so painful and interesting to me because house inviting wilson to confide in him feels like a pretty big step in terms of growth! So for wilson to say he'd rather talk to his dead girlfriend than house...well, judging by house's face, the remark cuts pretty deep. (disclaimer: ofc wilson is completely valid for talking to amber; it just also makes sense that house would be hurt by this, especially in the context of him already feeling like a burden and trying so hard to be a better person)
anyway idk where else to go with this . . . i just feel like the episode sort of started to delve into this issue and then never really went deep enough or concluded this aspect - hence my theory that house's level of hurt may not have been scripted and it was just hugh laurie choosing to Do That with his face.

one thing that'll always kind of bug me is how the conflict of percabeth's relationship the year percy turned fifteen goes unaddressed after they get together on his sixteenth birthday. because dude. percy has never owned his life. he's only perceived his existence a nuisance to gabe, a burden to his mother, or a plaything for the gods. so he spends the year before his sixteenth birthday avoiding everyone that reminds him of that because all he sees in the reflection of their eyes is a dead man walking. meanwhile. all annabeth has ever known is instability. first it was her father, then thalia, then luke. and the pattern continues when she falls in love with the boy who always has one foot out the door. and despite it all. she does everything in her power to ensure his permanence in her life. but is wise enough to know the odds are stacked against her. just because luke died and rachel swore off dating doesn't mean those problems stopped existing.

I think Shanks has a fear of abandonment from when Buggy left him. There was a choice, and Buggy didn't choose him. So what if the entire world thinks he's strong and powerful and looks up to him like a god? What does it all mean when Buggy won't look his way? And in the end that's the difference in their self worth issues. Buggy wanted the world, Shanks just wanted Buggy. Because Buggy was his whole world, even when Buggy believed he'd never be enough for anyone. Buggy always cared about other people and their opinions, but Shanks only cared about Buggy's. Buggy wanted what Shanks had, the approval of the world. And Shanks would have given it to him in a heartbeat if he could. Not that it matters, since Buggy will never know...
Even if the entire world chose him, it wouldn't make the kid inside Shanks stop crying. Only Buggy.

It really does make me wonder what else has been shot down by Fox. Because buddie is obviously the thing that we’re more able to clearly connect dots on even before Oliver started saying anything about any of it, but you know it’s not the only thing, we just don’t have the threads to pull on for anything else

i wonder if this scene has something to do with wille’s grief. wille appears to have all of his walls up and seems really angry or shut down in this scene. it could be directed at simon, but i think it’s likely and in character for him to be going through something deeper internally and unable to express that others yet. maybe it’s some kind of pressure building that he’s disappointing erik if he’s considering abdication? and maybe simon said something that hit a nerve and that’s why simon feels helpless - cause now wille’s shut him out. we’ve seen this behavior before in wille quite literally shutting his mom out of erik’s room to have a moment of missing his big brother, so it’s safe to say that’s a defense mechanism when he feels like someone doesn’t understand. and he seems to be having other moments in s3 where he’s also extremely frustrated and dysregulated, so could be a bunch of things boiling up at once.

Never going to stop laughing at L just being like: "OBVIOUSLY I'M PISSED OFF AND DEPRESSED BECAUSE IT'S NOT SPECIFICALLY YOU WHO WAS KIRA, NOT JUST BECAUSE MY THEORY ABOUT IT WAS WRONG" and him seeing that as an entirely reasonable and not at all unhinged or questionable thing to feel and say 😭

one of my favorite tropes in media is two old men whose only friends are each other and one is mean and doesn’t acknowledge how important they are to the other until something big happens between them and the mean one finds out that the other really cares about them and appreciates how hard they work so the mean one is like “shit” and apologizes and also they’re heavily implied to be in love with each other

An ambitious young woman with a good marriage, well on her way to quite some position, and then that man came along and you...melted in front of him... I did not melt.
