finally finished WOLF HALL and have been walking around in a post-reading rapture; was excited to dive into the tag to find my favorite quotes and it's all photo sets of period costuming (fine) and absolutely unhinged takes on the book (fine but mind boggling lol)
#listen i was a definitely a huge anne boleyn stan as a kid#and you could argue the women in wolf hall don't always get as much complexity as mantel grants cromwell#but idk i think a lot of them DO#it's just that they aren't cast as heroines and their virtues rub up right alongside their vices#they aren't the CW or HBO versions of themselves#they are petty and scheming and bitter#but also brave and pious and loving and vibrant#they are doing and saying what they have to to keep power in a world that punishes the powerless swiftly and without mercy#and so is cromwell!#yes you can tell mantel loves him as a character but she doesn't make him a flawless or uncomplocated protagonist either#he is every bit as blood-drenched and scheming bc he knows the alternative: a boot to the head and his face in the dirt#he and henry are constantly trying to outrun their childhoods; to put down the ghosts that still haunt them#sometimes they suceed#usually they end up with more bodies#more ghosts#another tally against them when it's their turn on the gallows or at the pyre or in their sick bed#praying for absolution#i'm not sure anyone in mantel's world comes out looking innocent or heroic in a simple sense#maybe hero in the sense of an epic#the rise the fall the reversal of fortune#the end where you always realize no matter how high you climb#you can't outrun your past#but like thomas realizes#it's not the dead who are after us#it's us who won't leave the dead be#we resurrect them we put words in their mouths we remake them#and every retelling of history will have different heroes and different villains#mantel is zeroing in on one entry point into the story#the nature of that means that some other interpretations will be excluded

calling them by the wrong name
Tumblr media
alhaitham, kazuha, wanderer, xiao x gn!reader
warnings: established relationship, kazuha thinks you're cute (you are!), kissing, words of endearment
Tumblr media
"kaveh?"
your voice is met with a deafening silence. in the midst of an overwhelming aura, you glance up—albeit hesitantly—at the akademiya's scribe.
he returns your gaze with a piercing, almost offended expression that forces a furrow to his eyebrows and the narrow of his forest eyes.
fearlessness takes over you in the way you repeat, "kaveh...?"
alhaitham stares at you, in utter disgust, before returning his gaze to the book in his hands.
they must be talking to the wrong person, is all he thinks. but why to him, of all people? there's a bitter taste in the back of alhaitham's tongue as he contemplates while you're calling his roommate's name when he's right there. in front of you. kaveh isn't, though.
although he isn't much of a devotee, alhaitham thanks celestia that kaveh isn't here—his presence always brings a headache.
you clear your throat before lifting your head up from your desk. staring straight at alhaitham, who begrudgingly returns your gaze, you say, "kaveh."
alhaitham looks around the empty library, his frown deepening once he sees no one else. after surveying the room, the scribe returns his gaze to you.
"i look nothing like that..." he has to mentally prepare himself to even perceive kaveh. "..." his silence indicates his failure.
the moment you turn your head away to stifle a laugh, alhaitham knows that this is another one of your petty pranks (he really needs to get you away from kaveh lest you become too much like him).
"sorry, you looked too funny just now," you mumble, still struggling to mask your amusement while alhaitham stares at you with an unimpressed expression.
in an act of wordless defiance, the scribe places his noise-cancelling ear pieces over both of his ears before feigning ignorance to your gasp of offense.
"c'mon, alhaitham!" you exclaim, poking the man's arm repeatedly before he clicks his tongue. with narrowed eyes, alhaitham takes one ear piece out before cocking his head haughtily.
"what? sorry, you just looked too funny."
he only smirks once you rub your temples in annoyance.
Tumblr media
kazuha knows you're up to something; it's obvious in the glint of your eyes and the way you fail to suppress a scheming smile once you see him.
kazuha likes your smile, really, but this one's a little different.
still, he can't help but feel a little giddy inside at your expression. you're so cute, is all he thinks, watching you talk with one of the ship's crewmates before approaching him happily.
"heizou!" you exclaim, a giant grin on your face as your arms reach out for a hug. for a moment there, kazuha's previous worries of you scheming something fly out the window (or off the deck) as he takes a second to register what you just called him.
"dear," he returns your enthusiasm, albeit a bit cautious. "that's not my name."
"oh, sorry about that, kazuha!" you correct yourself with a feigned sense of regret, which—despite his perceptive nature—pacifies the samurai's worries. he pushes away all thoughts of warning in order to marvel at the (mischievous) expression on your face.
he soon regrets his actions once you call him, with the whole of your confidence, "venti." despite there being no one around you in kazuha's quarters, he glances around, as if to ask for some reassurance from someone else because you did not just do that.
what especially shocks him is the sheer warmth in your voice; the sound of unadulterated, pure love that brings shivers down his spine and goosebumps rippling throughout his skin. kazuha frowns a little, staring at you with half an enamored expression and another half of disbelief.
"dear," he repeats, this time, in more of a pouty tone.
"hehe," you reply unashamedly. taking his bandaged hand in yours, all you do is kiss the back of it before he regains his classic, kind smile.
"kazuha,"—there you go again, speaking in a tone of fervent affection—"i love you; it was just a prank."
humming in response, the samurai squeezes your hand before tilting his head away.
"do you, now?"
"kazuha!" your eyes widen, almost afraid that he doubted you. however, the look in his crimson eyes and the smirk that takes over his lips say otherwise.
"do you?" he asks, again. he leans closer to you, eyes sparkling.
"of course," you reply.
"well," his voice dips into a whisper, "prove it."
swiftly, you peck him on the lips; but he isn't satisfied. kazuha pulls you back in, his hands resting gently on your jaw, before smiling into another kiss.
and another.
and another.
Tumblr media
you knew it was a bad idea, but still, you did it anyway. curiosity kills the cat, but satisfaction (in the form of an enraged outburst and an intense hurricane) brings it back.
with a deep breath and the grit of his teeth, wanderer nearly summons the entirety of barbatos' power once you refer to him as "childe." he had to do a double take, really, before finally confirming that there was no one else and you were actually calling him that.
"excuse me?!" he retorts, offended. "me? childe? do i look like that insect?" at the sight of your amused smirk and unsure expression, wanderer takes his question back.
"don't answer that. no matter what you say, you're wrong."
"bu—" you start, but wanderer quickly interjects.
"nope, i don't want to hear it."
"but—"
"i said, i don't want to hear it!"
"m'love," you say, voice barely above a whisper. wanderer is taken aback—it's obvious in the way his bottom lip trembles a little at the endearment, his ears reddening and prompting him to cough violently into his fist.
"don't..." he begins to lose his resolve. "don't call me that."
"but m'love," you say, again. "i didn't mean it!"
wanderer eyes you up and down—as if to question whether or not you think he's stupid—before huffing begrudgingly.
"oh, shut up."
"i love you," you state, partially in order to quell his anger, and partially to witness the pink hues on his face.
"whatever."
even when you turn away, wanderer's eyes never leave your form.
"... love you too," he mumbles.
"what was that?" you ask, not looking back.
"nothing."
Tumblr media
there's this deafening silence that follows your call for ganyu instead of xiao. the yaksha doesn't know what to do, but somehow, he speeds through the five stages of grief and lands on bargaining as he glances at you with slightly widened eyes.
is it because we're both adepti? he thinks, trying to reassure himself. or maybe it's because we both have the robust souls of the adepti...
"sorry," you suddenly say, scratching the back of your head. "i meant zhongli."
xiao exclaims a shocked, "what?!" before quickly shaking his head.
"no... you did not mean 'zhongli'... that is rex—i mean, that is the funeral consultant..."
with a betrayed expression and a slight frown to his lips, xiao takes a step toward you in an act of defiance. he internally thanks the crest of the moon for the emptiness of wangshu inn's balcony; he thanks it for allowing time with you.
even if you keep calling him by the wrong name—with that innocent smile of yours—xiao is still that same smitten, lovesick adeptus that is weak to your whims.
"unless you really did mean re—ah, zhongli?" xiao asks, a slight slump to his words as he crosses his arms awkwardly. xiao looks to you in times of need, yet with your teasing tone, he isn't quite sure of what to do.
"no, xiao,"—his head perks up once you call his name—"i meant baizhu."
he blinks once, then twice, before stepping back to teleport away. you, however, know his schemes well enough to have his wrist caught in your hand quicker than he can move, his breath hitching slightly at the contact.
"i was just kidding, xiao." the yaksha has to take a deep breath at the way you say his name; it's not anything special, but your voice and tone eases his mind in inexplicable ways. xiao feels loved, he feels, whenever you do so much as utter a word—it doesn't even have to be his name.
"hmph. impudent mortal, you really have no respect for the adepti." he turns his head away, not shaking your grip away. rather, his hand relaxes in your touch.
"xiao, your ears are red."
he remains silent.

K♤ Can't Catch Me Now Q♧
Inspired by: 'Can't Catch Me Now' by Olivia Rodrigo (I recommend listening to it as you read for vibes)
Tumblr media
THE TRIALS HAD been pointless from the beginning. A futile effort to make fair competition when the scale was already tipped firmly in one direction. Were it not for the Imperial Right all those years ago, Serulla would've fallen to a civil war. However, much of a blessing that law had been, its legacy was beyond deserving of gratitude.
Oaths had been sworn to accept whatever outcome occurred — to face hostility amicably like the well-behaved puppets they were.
The plot that Nira Atha'lin had cultivated was not able to evade the Earis's suspicions. It was unfortunate that Queen Roena's good-tempered nature had led to nothing being done about the 'alleged' schemes.
The Ilves heir let themself believe that the fault truly lied with them. Perhaps, if they had conferred with Zaros — who, despite his vices, was still an honourable man — he would have put an end to his mother's plans. Such words had tasted bitter on the Earis's tongue, and had been swallowed for purely selfish reasons. What could they have argued if he'd chosen to side with his mother? The bond of kin would surely have been more favourable than whatever fleeting desires had gone cold over the past eight years.
On the night before the final trial, the Earis had thought little of the wine laced with a scent of cinnamon. Until the wavering vision they endured the following morning. Stubborn (after a taunt from their beloved rival), they had marched to the location of the spar without mentioning their symptoms to Her Eminence. Maybe they should have shouted accusations, when their prowess of the blade had been dulled by the effects of the poison. If they had not been so prideful as to assume that they could beat Zaros regardless, then fate may have been kinder.
His bewildered gaze upon being named victor had only rubbed salt into the wound. Cocky bastard — he was surely faking it to earn them some pity.
No later than sunrise on the ascension day, the former queen was hysteric. Nira refused to entertain her clamor; the absconding of a disgraced palace brat was not the concern of the innovating Atha'lin line. They had won the seat with 'honest' favour, and did little to tame the cruel taunts spoken of the former Earis.
Roena grieved her second child. And Zaros, having achieved the throne and his mother's praise, still felt unsatisfied.
It was ironic, the path that the stars had laid out for them. Lesser than His Eminence, and greater. The Earis had been freed from the gilded noose they had bore — the fear of making one mistake and ending up at the gallows no longer nipping at their heels. Zaros had been wrong, in the end; it would be he who dried up like a prune, his name upheld by the pretense of power.
They would see the world; know the places they had read personally. They would physically experience the history and cultures that had baited their curiosity. Petty in their rivalry, the Earis felt a sense of triumph at having been gifted a life that had been but a dream beforehand. All bitterness parted from their mind like the swathes breaking at the cliffs.
And yet, gnawing at their heart, the Earis couldn't help but wonder who Zaros would waltz with now.

Incoming essay - apologies!
Rewatching the pool scene and two things struck me: Sand's really not a natural at this whole sneaky, aloof thing - his face while he's watching Ray listen to the recording actually looks quite serious and almost like he's already having doubts, but the second Ray looks back up at him he assumes a fake, couldn't care less expression, which solidifies my opinion that his behaviour here is out of character for him (I don't mean the writing is out of character, but that he's acting in a way that goes against who he really is). Boston's mindfuckery and Nick's...privacy issues come fairly easily to them, and even Mew pulled off a very cold-blooded gotcha that entirely relied on him convincing Top everything was okay, but Sand couldn't even manage that one convo with Ray without it being totally obvious he was pissed and petty and had an agenda. I think swinging a baseball bat probably comes way more naturally to him than subterfuge and manipulation.
The other thing is Sand's expression after Ray asks if he's not okay about him liking Mew - he's sort of speechless for a second, has to take a breath, and it occurred to me that this is the first time he's actually hearing Ray confirm that it's true. Previously it was all just coming from Boston, who Ray said he shouldn't listen to anyway, but here is Ray himself admitting it, saying it out loud, and quite casually at that. Ouch!
(Something else I've been pondering is if Sand isn't (perhaps unconsciously) a little pissed at Nick and that's why he can screw him over so easily - after all, it was Nick who brought Boston into their home, and Nick who, even after witnessing all the damage Boston did - and not to random strangers, but to Sand - still sticks with him, acting all lovey dovey and taking cute couple pics... Not passing judgement one way or another, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sand's a little bit bitter about that as well!)
Ooh yes, I agree with all of this 100%! I like how you can see Sand almost reckoning with himself as he does it. I can see him thinking “Well, if Ray likes someone else and has just been using me, why can’t I play the same game?” Also interesting your point about how Sand likely defaults to direct action as opposed to subtle schemes and manipulation; it would certainly align with how straightforward Sand is about everything (I’m thinking of a lot of scenes but especially that last one where he chases after Ray—he’s undoubtedly still angry, but he cares more about keeping Ray safe than letting Ray see that he’s hurt…that might be part of the reason why the crew decided to use the take where he looks shocked as opposed to heartbroken just before Ray drives off.)
Your analysis also confirms that Sand certainly does care about Ray in the pool scene, even if he’s trying to ignore it in pursuit of his own revenge on Top. Ray’s direct confirmation that he does, in fact, like Mew is just more cause for Sand to be bitter. I can imagine just how broken up Sand has been since the night Boston ruined everything, thinking and rethinking his relationship with Ray.
Sand is making a very pointed effort to make Ray feel his apathy. Beyond Sand simply being hurt and dejected, he wants Ray to feel bad—I just don’t think he ever meant for his schemes to initiate the blow up Ray has at the end.
Lastly, about Nick, I’d be surprised if Sand wasn’t bitter! Nick even tells Boston that he was an asshole and he still acts all lovey dovey with him? Nick comes across as very immature to me and very much a pushover. Hopefully we’ll see Sand address his own anger over this in this trailer clip:

wrightworth fake dating au
one day, phoenix gets a wedding invite in the mail from a family member. as he’s reading it, he realizes it’s from his least favorite aunt that he had beef with. he doesn’t see her often due to some comments she’s made about his bisexuality (she’s not overly rude or homophobic but the comments still don’t fly with his gay moms), but the encounters he’s had still leave a bitter taste in his mouth and his blood boiling. normally, he’d rsvp no, but he’s petty and desperate to show her up at her wedding to her third husband.
he decides the best way to do this is to propose to his gay lover at her wedding.
the only problem is that he doesn’t have a gay lover.
he’s going to have to fake date someone and make their relationship look real enough for a proposal to be believable. he comes to the realization that only one qualified enough… is miles.
it takes a lot to convince miles (he’s sure it’s a horrible plan and he has no clue why he’d agree to a deal where the only thing in it for him is more unnecessary feelings), but he eventually gives due to phoenix’s incessant begging.
since phoenix wants their fake relationship to be perfect, he has them go on fake dates (that are weirdly similar to the dinners they often go on) as well as go over the details of their “relationship” (they make it similar to their current friendship, just with them falling in love and getting together after phoenix gets his badge back). it took a lot of convincing for miles to agree to the proposal plan on top of the fake dating scheme, but he can’t win arguments with wright when he’s dead set on a crazy idea, so he begrudgingly gives in (as long as he gets to pick out the ring, because he doubts wright would pick a good enough ring for their fake engagement).
the day comes and the two are confident in their plan. the only problem could be wright’s moms, since he’s close to them and he’s not sure if they’d buy him not telling them about him being in a relationship. however, to their great surprise, they buy it pretty easily. one of them said she suspected it would happen sooner or later with how much phoenix talks about miles while the other assumed that they had been dating for years and just didn’t outwardly say it due to it being obvious (“i mean, i had a feeling you were in love with him after you confessed you wanted to go into law to help him after seeing him in the paper” -mrs. wright).
the wedding is fairly uneventful, and phoenix makes sure to show off his “partner” to everybody he interacts with, since he’s sure loudly and proudly being in love with another man at her wedding would piss of his aunt more (by the time the reception rolls around, miles is incredibly flustered despite the whole relationship being fake).
their proposal goes off without a hitch, and phoenix relishes in the furious look on his aunt’s face.
phoenix expects it to end after the wedding is over. after all, he and miles part ways after, and all he has is the memories and his intense feelings for his dear friend.
however, it does not, in fact, end there.
what phoenix didn’t know was that an old acquaintance was the plus one for one of his cousins. she saw the proposal and had to take a picture, confident that a story about the engagement between chief prosecutor miles edgeworth and defense attorney phoenix wright would be just the thing to really kick off her career.
turns out, lotta hart was very right, and phoenix and miles had to deal with their fake proposal being very public (as well as their friends being upset that they weren’t even told that the two were dating in the first place)

hello! may i please request (for the event)
soulmate!au dazai x reader where port!mafia reader (who used to know dazai when he was an executive) and dazai abruptly realises that theyre soulmates.
it's a first-words-on-wrist-type soulmate marker, except reader refused to verbally communicate with dazai when he was in the mafia, because the reader realised long ago that dazai was their soulmate (and to not seem suspicious, they stopped talking to everybody else as well). however, after dazai left, reader began to talk again and gets on well with the other executives and black lizard.
except reader slips up, says the first words, there's a flash of silver on dazai and reader's wrist and they are very obviously soulmates.
all of this, of course, happens at a neutral meeting between almost all the high ranking mafia personnel (executives, black lizard and higuchi and akutagawa), and all of the armed detective agency.
and then reader up and bolts whilst dazai is left shocked.
sorry for the long request, have a nice day!
Event Masterlist About The Event
Notes: hi! thank you for being the first one to request for this event! and this post is sort of long (since the req was pretty specific) so I hope you don't mind.
Warnings: n/a
Characters involved: Dazai Osamu, mentions other characters from the anime
Gender-neutral reader, you/yours
Dazai was always damned to end up alone.
The confession was a hard pill to swallow, especially in a world full of soulmates, but it was something he had learned to live with over the years.
If anything, it seemed kind of poetic to think about. Of course, the weird man obsessed with death wouldn't be worthy of having his soul intertwined with another's.
There was a time when Dazai had yearned for a soulmate to call his, claiming that would be the true meaning of his life; something that would finally make him stay and consider living rather than surviving
From Oda to Chuuya, there had always been one person or the other who Dazai had considered his soulmate. Someone who he would secretly mull over at 2am as he wondered how the first thing they said to him hadn't been imprinted on the inside of his left wrist yet.
But over time those thoughts had been swapped out with bittersweet realizations of his fate, and Dazai had come to accept the lack of a soulmate in his life.
In fact, he felt that he didn't even need one. Because the people around him were seemingly enough.
Even if they were currently fighting over yet another invasion scheme to destroy their beloved city.
"The agency needs to stay out of this while we arrange-"
"And if we don't?"
Dazai could tell his words caused a ripple of distress across the room and had anticipated the round of angry whispers that followed, however, what he hadn't been prepared for was the unfamiliar voice that broke through the crowd of murmurs.
"I will not let our home burn just because of some petty dispute!"
Dazai could see the horror on your face as you realized what you had said, or rather, who you had said them to, but no amount of regret could undo the flash of silver light glinting over Dazai's left wrist as your sudden outburst was imprinted on him.
For a moment, the room remained dead silent as the brunette detective frantically looked between his wrist and your face.
But then your shock faded and a horrified gasp left your lips as you abandoned your seat and raced towards the door behind you, the rhythmic thud of your footsteps snapping Dazai out of his reverie.
Maybe he wasn't so damned after all.
The development was as bitter as it was sweet, for it was accompanied by a realization Dazai would rather not face.
You knew.
You knew and yet you chose to hide from him; hide from your fate. It was understandable, after all, who would want to be with the very man who dragged them into a mafia at an age where you were foolish enough to fall into Mori's line of sight?
But that didn't make his situation any better. If anything, it only worsened the pit of unease in Dazai's stomach.
"Go."
Fukuzawa's voice had never sounded as solemn yet encouraging at that moment, his tone a testament to the realization everyone had come to.
"Don't you at least want to know why?"
Mori's words were all it took for him to leap out of the chair he had been occupying for the greater part of that afternoon and hurriedly race out the door as he chased after the fleeting glimpses of your long black coat.
You had your reasons, and Dazai couldn't quite blame you for them. After all, who would want to be fated to someone who had spent all his life living for death?
But perhaps, it was finally time he learned how to use his heart for another rather than trying to stop it.
Dazai just hoped you would be willing to give him a chance.

good evening. my best wishes to you, and habit’s recovery.
i also see you made cookies. do you like to bake?
Ah. A question about me, hm? I’m flattered - no one else usually gives a shit.
Say, why don’t I tell you all a little bit about myself? I’ve got the time to type.
Hundreds of lives ago, our mother taught Michael how to bake when we were ten years old. Michael got really good at it, so I also decided to pick it up too. I would practice making bread in the middle of the night and rob him of sleep so he couldn’t practice during the day. I thought it would make me feel as good as it did for him, especially if I was better than him at it. Well…
After dying in that life, we start all over again somewhere new as always. One summer- we're about 15 years old and just wandering aimlessly on the beach while we talked and enjoyed the sunshine. Then we started bickering over something so stupid I didn't bother to remember what it was. We're just throwing around petty insults and then I say, "I bet you couldn't bake a cake even if the only ingredient was shit."
We stop walking and Michael goes, "well duh, I don't even know how to bake." I didnt say anything for a moment, and Michael continues humorously, "but I bet I could still bake a better shit cake than you!”
I couldn't keep up the bickering after that...even though Michael remained cheerful, I just felt this horrible, aching sadness; like a hole had opened up inside me.
We went home without further argument.
Just the life prior Michael had been an amazing baker in his own right. It made him happy. I may have hated it before, but it was true. Now he knew nothing, straight back to square one, completely unaware of this fact.
Except I knew, and I felt terrible because...well, I could still remember how to bake. I've never forgotten. But Michael would have to relearn everything, including the things that helped us both survive the darkness we were stuck in.
How awful is that? Never being allowed to keep even the most innocent of memories, only for me to be the one stuck with them all. What am I supposed to do with that? Let it all go to waste?
15 year old me was pretty fucked up by this awareness for sure. I kept going over it in my head trying to make sense of things, and what I concluded was this:
My job is to protect Michael's happiness, not rob him of it for myself and do nothing with it. I felt like I stole something precious from Michael that day. I was a selfish fool; being “better” at Michael never actually made me happier in the grand scheme of things. So…
I decided I'd continue baking, from that life onwards, in honor of the memory Michael lost. I’ll hold onto it for him. I had the power to make him a little happier, even though I felt like I could only bring him pain.
Despite the tall cunt and despite my own destructive tendencies, I still managed to leave a tray of Michaels favorite treats by our bedside at least once a week.
So you could say I enjoy baking…but only because I know how much it makes other people feel better. I get nothing else out of it. It’s taken a long time to not be bitter, and I’ve done a lot of fucked shit because of it, but I’ve learned how to channel it into something positive now I think.
Anyways, that’s my story about the baking thing. I have many stories, but I should probably leave it at that for the moment.
Habit looks to have stopped shaking so much, but still hasn’t touched the cookies. Rude I say - my cookies are freaking awesome. I’m going to put my phone down and try talking to him again soon. -P

How much different is LBD in your tragedy of six au compared to taken ?
Oooh good question :D
So The Tragedy of six LBD is WAY more bitter and petty. Her big plan she spent hundreds of years planning got ruined by Azure and Wukong. Her body is weak, nearly in pieces, and her rage is unfathomable. She struggles to contain these emotions as she has been pushed to a breaking point in this story. So while yes, she still plans and schemes, she's not as thorough about it. She really needs Nezha to train these kids well in order to succeed. Without them, she isn't really a threat anymore.
Taken LBD's big plan is still in the works. She is playing this long game still and knows exactly what she needs to do to win. And the worst part is, no one else even realizes what her plan actually is. They see her army running around, but even that is just a distraction to what she actually wants. Taken LBD is far more of a threat than Tragedy of Six LBD, who is too physically weakened.

I don’t think they are divorcing, nor does she plan on it. I believe it was (and still is) always Meghan’s plan (albeit maybe plan b) to cling onto this marriage as long as possible and intentionally isolate Harry to prolong the inevitable. She still needs him - DESPERATELY. Even if they are miserably unhappy and struggling to keep up the facade. I kind of think she is just messing with people and being petty af on purpose with these planted rumours because she knows damn well that the entire world is watching and waiting on that announcement. She is soooooo very very bitter that people never trusted or liked her from the beginning and that she got caught out so fast. I am absolutely certain this marriage has not panned out the way she planned and schemed for at all. Unfortunately she f***ed herself with her vile behaviour and finding damaged, dumb and rich (again) has been extremely difficult for her. I kind of think they deserve to be miserable and broke together as it’s the biggest kick in the stomach to Markle because she only cares about money. I hope she’s earning EVERY single cent of of this scam / sham ‘marriage’. Harry doesn’t deserve as bad of karma as Meghan because he’s not an intentional abuser and con artist, but he did make his bed and deserves to suffer a bit longer being married to that witch. I just hope financial ruin is in her future after it finally happens. That’s what will actually neutralise and destroy Meghan like she well and truly deserves.
It could be a false rumor. That’s always a possibility.

I have been seeing a lot of people recently on Tumblr go 0_o upon the wave of antisemitism that is flooding Europe, the USA and the Internet recently. The reason they are shocked by this, however, is not because of the antisemitism itself... But because they see it comes from "the left". And this turns out to be a shock for them, because they have a hard time understanding how people on the "left-wing" of the political spectrum could end up being VERY antisemitic, as antisemitism was - even before the Nazi party was created - typically associated to the extreme-right and to the right-wing part of the political spectrum.
Except that... when you have been paying attentions to little details and some history lessons, it comes to no surprise at all. The extreme-left (because we have to say things as they are, the current wave of antisemitism is partially born from the extreme-left) is basically the twin of the extreme-right. And I am not just speaking of the fact antisemitism exists as a principle beyond any political party and any religion (antisemitism has been carried on throughout History by the left, the right, by apolitics, by Christians, by Muslims, by basically everyone that is not Jewish).
There was a French comedy movie that is talked about a lot - because it is a movie that never got to be made. It is a movie called "Le Crocodile", "The Crocodile". One of the reasons this unmade movie is so famous is because it was planned to be the "final" movie of Louis de Funès, considered to this day one of the greatest French actors and a monument of French humor. Louis de Funès' archetypal character, his "type-casting", was as a greedy, tyrannical, wrathful and petty, but ultimately ridiculous and sympathetic, middle-management type of guy, an ambitious, vain and cowardly person in a position of power that abused of it, but ultimately ended up either humbled by the story/events/other characters, or had his good side come out in the end. He was an antisemitic factory owner who ended up learning how to love and appreciate the Jewish community ; he was a tyrannical maestro who ended up forced to work for the Resistance during World War II ; he was a scheming, pollution-endorsing mayor who ended up forced to abandon everything because he was bested by his wife ; he was an abusive and criminal minister that kept knowing disgrace after disgrace, and ended up doing heroic deeds but just because the villains of the story were preventing him from doing his own political conspiracy... And "Le Crocodile" was supposed to be the culmination of these specific roles, as de Funès was to play a dictator losing his power during a revolution.
Inspired by Charlie Chaplin's own take on dictatorship, this movie was supposed to depict Louis de Funès as a Pinochet-caricature, "Crochet", an extreme-right dictator in an imaginary country. After a series of adventures, the dictator ended up overthrown by a rival and sent to prison. But his cunning and scheming knowing no bounds, he ended up going back to power... by shifting to the left-wing of the political spectrum, joining with left-oriented political activist, overthrowing his replacement, destroying his own old extreme-right government, to replace it by a new, left-revolutionnary government... That quickly became an extreme-left dictatorship led, once again by Crochet. And this was supposed to be the final, bitter joke of the movie: the beginning and ending of the story were supposed to be identical, because despite the political goals and vocabulary having changed, the dictatorship Crochet had rebuilt in the extreme-left was in all identical to his extreme-right dictatorship.
The movie was never made, unfortunately, due to Louis de Funès passing before shooting could begin. But the same message can be found in the classics of a fiction genre that is much more well-known by English audience: dystopia. What defined the "classical" dystopias, born during the height of the Cold War? From George Orwell's "1984" to Harlan Ellison "I have no mouth and I must scream", there is always this recurring motif of "You had various super-powers with opposing ideologies that waged war against each other... and yet now, we can't actually distinguish these opposite powers from one another, because they are doing the exact same thing and their ideologies end up reaching the same goals and the same points." This was a reaction to the dead-end of the Cold War, where the extremes of the Americanized, capitalist, "Western" block and of the Sovietized, communist "Eastern" block matched each other, resulting in the two looking identical in the eyes of many countries and people stuck in the middle of the two... But the lesson can be applied to any other situation, because it contains one core, fundamental truth people seem to have forgotten about today. Any extreme is bad ; and any good thing, taken to an extreme, will be horrible.
Take Christianity! A religion built on love and peace, and giving your food to the poor and offering the other cheek when you are slapped and forgiving those that betray you... And we ended up with the fucking Inquisition, and the witch hunts, and the religious wars, and many more atrocities, all in the name of "love and peace".
I digress here but honestly I want to get all of this out while I can, so that I have no more to say.
So yes, the "left" as people learned to know it today is based on good principles. (I personally hate reducing things to the "left" or the "right" when it comes to social matter, because for example defending people's right to have their own sexual orientation respected and recognized is not a political question, it is a human question... But since Tumblr users are still in shock unable to understand why the "left could be bad", and since we are facing extreme-left movements, I'll stick to this binary system for now). Yes, the left is the "side of the people" that works on helping the masses against the elite ; yes the left is the side of the "minorities" against "oppresors", yes the left has fought for excellent and needed things like feminism and acceptance and anti-racism... All good principles. And all principles that are turned into tools of hatred and oppression by the extreme-left.
I don't think I need to explain why the extreme-right is bad - in general people on Tumblr are very aware of it, and history has proven us what happens when the extreme-right rises up. Racism, discrimination, xenophobia, homophobia, religious fanaticism... All things typical of the extreme-right, no need to go further. But a lot of people seem to have a hard time wrapping their head around the system and the processes that lead to the "left" becoming the "extreme-left", and why the extreme-left can end up mirroring the extreme-right.
But the answer is very simple. It is this logic as old as time of "reverse bullying". When the bullied decided to take their revenge on the bully by bullying it in return, the bullied becomes the bully, and it does not solve anything since it just reverses the situation. Or more generally speaking: when the defense, love and acceptance of a minority/victim/side becomes hatred and rejection of the majority/bully/other side, there is an open gateway for BAD things. And the wave of antisemitism currently going on is a perfect representation of that.
I personally strongly disliked the extreme-left long before the whole Hamas-Israel situation. I hated the extreme-left because, especially in France, the extreme-left had the worst possible thing when it came to anti-intellectualism. Extreme-left politicians and activists have explicitely spoken against or attacked things such as higher education or any kind of school beyond high school, as well as things such as classical literature or old books. There is this "populist" idea behind the extreme-left, that, as "men/women of the people", as the "voice of the masses", they need to opposite, shit on and destroy anything seen or deemed as an "elite". But the "elite" isn't just your old rich white guy, oh no! The elite also means stuff seen as the intellectual elite. For example, classics of literature. Authors of older generations. And if you wonder how bad it can be: when during the last presidential elections the candidate for the extreme-left was not elected, its young supporters went to the university of the Sorbonne and trashed it. They destroyed computers, destroyed rare books within the university's library, they destroyed the papers and works of the students and teachers in there... Because they were angry at their candidate not being elected. And an university as old and as famous as the Sorbonne, THE French university, was thus seen as the "enemy" and as a symbol of what opposed the access of their candidate to the presidential position. And the result was... destroying books. Yes, bookburners can be as much from the right as from the left. Quite literaly some times.
There was this very hilarious but very very sad thing that happened in French Canada some years ago... There was this group of Canadians (white and Christians if I recall well) that wanted to show an open support and public excuses for how the Catholic Church, how the Canadian government and how white settlers treated the people of the First Nations and the discrimination they had to face. Nice, isn't it? The intention is good, public manifestations recognizing this dark side of the history is good, doing events to move forward is good, right? Except... we are talking about French-Canadians here. French-Canadian-Christians, who are... really something. So what did they do, to show their support to the First Nations? Give back some of their land? Remove some of the horrible laws against them? Recognize them more rights? NO! THEY BURNED BOOKS! Sounds like a joke? It is not. To show their support, what they did was take various comic-books and children books from the early-to-mid 20th century with representations of Native-Americans considered "offensive", and they burned them in a great bonfire. They literaly did... book-burning. To fight colonization and racism. A perfect example of how fucked up and warped it can all be.
This incident above is just one of the many incidents that I have collected across the years and that illustrated what I called the "bad woke". Now... when designating those ridiculous and dangerous excesses, I hate to just say "woke". Because the root of the "woke" ideas are good! Good and positive things: defend trans-people, defend gay people, encourage diversity and body-positivity and fight against racism and religious discrimination. These things are good! And too many people who are just homophobic, transphobic, racist or any other of fucked up jerk use "woke" as an insult and as a derogatory term for just being a normal uman being. So I do not like using "woke" alone to designate the fucked-up extremes the polar opposite side can ledn itself to. But... I have to recognize that there is a bad, extreme and toxic form of "wokeness", and until I can find a better term to designate this phenomenon, I will use the term "bad woke". And the process, the thought-system, the workings of the "bad woke" are the exact sames behind the extreme-left, and the sames that led to this wave of antisemitism drowning the Internet.
I evoked an incident that took place in France again years ago, which was more of an unthought, stupid mistake than an actual malicious intent, but showed how a slight twist can turn "good" from "bad". A "safe place" had been created somewhere, for women and trans people to be able to gather without any presence of men or non-trans people. So far so good, but the twist of the story is that when creating this space the rules for it were too summarized and too-shortened up, and so the creators of the space said this and plastered this on the walls: "Only women and trans people allowed. No men allowed." Do you see the logical problem? What about trans men? Trans men literaly didn't know what to do, since "trans" people were accepted and this space was built for them... and yet "men" as a whole were forbidden. Meaning if a trans man entered the space, they had to somehow not be recognized as a man, but as rather something closer to a woman?
This truly was just a stupid mistake by people who had not thought about it - but it actually shows the process by which defending one minority or an oppressed group can end up harming or hunting another minority/oppressed group. We are all aware of what happened when feminists and the feminism fight to defend women or provide them equal rights, ended up drifting into transphobia and hate on trans women for not being "real women". It is all a messy bag of snakes.
And so, what is the link to the antisemitism today? What does all this proves when it comes to the extreme-left and the Jews? Well, easy.
Why is the extreme-left antisemitic? Because one of the core of the extreme-left is, as I said, to fight against the "elite". Be it a social, cultural, ethnic or political elite, the "left" defined itself mostly as "the mass against the elite, the many against the few". This is mixed with the left fighting against racism, and also fighting against things such as colonization. Again, all very good things. But let's place ourselves in the mind of an antisemitic extreme-leftist. What happens? Why would I come after the Jews, who themselves are known to be an oppressed and discriminated against minority, in both ethnic and religious terms? Why would the extreme-left decide to make a prey out of the people the extreme-right was known to hunt?
Because they are seen as the "elite". We know that extreme-left groups feed into the same antisemitic delusions and conspiracy theories that the Jews are the secret elite controlling the world. Even if they are not hardcore conspiracists, the extreme-left movements have several Jewish stereotypes widespread among them - to take France, just a recent study showed that a lot of people who identified on the left-wing also recognized that Jews were wealthier than regular French people, that they had too much presence in finances, and too much presence in media. The extreme-left searches for a form of elite to fight against and shit upon and hate with all of its might - and when the antisemitic cliches present the Jews as this elite, as some sort of secret powerful cabal controlling the finances and the media and being wealthy and friends with politicians, the extreme-left will latch onto these ideas as if truth, because they hate any form of elite, no matter if the elite actually exists or not. It is no surprise that the same conspiracy cliches about "satanic cults murdering babies and drinking human blood" are used for both the Jews (supposedly the shadow elite) and the actual rich and wealthy, white WASPs family of the USA. Same conspiracy theory, different people.
Of course, the Hamas-Israel war has been what sparked the fire. Because Israel is seen as a colonizer, the Jews as a whole are identifying with other colonizing countries and historical colonizing empires. Because Israel currently has a right-wing/extreme-right government, the Jews are a whole are seen as being from the extreme-right. Because of the retaliation against the Hamas attacks upon Gaza are just a massive unleashing of destruction causing massive deaths and a humanitarian crisis, Jews are a whole are seen as being genocide-endorcers. With people even going as far as to say they became as bad as Nazis or worse, or that they are causing a new Holocaust - the Jewish history being literaly returned against them. Everything that surrounds the Hamas-Israel war needs a post of its own because we have EVERYTHING all at once. We have people who refuse to understand a conflict is not black and white, and that in this war there is no good guy or bad guy, just people suffering on both sides and a lot of deaths and horrors on both sides. We have people who generalize Israel as being somehow the embodiment of all the Jews in the world, and consider Jews from Africa or Europe or America to be responsible for Israel's actions - and who disguise antisemitism as "anti-zionism". We have people who, in their effort to paint Israel as the sole villain, will literaly treat the Hamas as heroes, and ignore for example the fact that they are a terrorist organization, that they actually attacked Israel in terrorist attacks (people even deny the Hamas attacks even happened, the same way you have negationists of the Holocaust), or that they are using the people of Gaza as meat-shield for Israel attacks, or that they have extremely fanatical and racist ideologies based on a genocide of Jews as a whole and the destruction of the USA. And the list goes on and on and this is such a mess...
But here is the thing... The Hamas attacks on Israel and Israel's retaliation were just the spark. Meaning there was fuel before that. And I already started explaining why. The extreme-left had strong latent antisemitic feelings which were widespread, but since not openly hostile or aggressive were not much spotted. (Unlike for example fanatical extreme-right Christians which are very loud and open about their hatred of Jews and parade Jewish caricatures around on signs). And while I evoked before the warped belief that the Jews are somehow an "elite", hence the discrimination, there is another factor that must be taken nto account... What I call the "pick-and-choose your minority" game.
To take for example extreme-left groups in France - but I think it works in other countries too. They are very open about defending minorities and people of color, and they have been strongly standing by the side of black people and Arab people and Muslim people and people from African descent. So far, so good... But the thing is that when you are careful, you see that they do nothing about or never speak about other minorities. For example the Jews, but also Asian people. Not a word, not a peep. And we know there is discrimination in France against them - we already have studies that proved that in universities (which, surprise, are mostly left-leaning) a "common" antisemitism was very widespread, not physical, but taking the form of discriminatory joke, the common use of slurs and other verbal abuse. But we also had a wave of discrimination against people of Asian ethnicites (mostly people of Chinese culture or descent, but given the perpetrators were racist I doubt they'd make a difference between China, Japan or Korea). There was a wave some years ago of brutal street-agressions and mugging and theft targeting Chinese women and Chinese elders (or Chinese-looking people). And the thieves and muggers, once caught, gave the same excuse antisemitic thieves gave: "Everybody knows they have money."
But the thing is that while extreme-left groups are very vocal and very violent when it comes to islamophobia or racism against black people... they are very quiet and discreet when it comes to antisemitic or discrimination against Asian people. (Or at least they were, because since their antisemitism was revealed, they have been very vocal about Jewish people on media, to defend themselves). And this little phenomenon, that mostly went unnoticed and unanalyzed by media, reflects a larger concept that was found everywhere - and in fact very present on the Internet - and that imbues the extreme-left. And this perverse concept is "Some minorities are real minorities. Others are not. Some people are real POCs. Others are not."
To be clear: many people consider that Jews or Asians are not supposed to be minorities, couldn't be oppressed and shouldn't be defended as much as "actual" people of colors or "true" minorities". Because, in their words, these ethnicities are "too white", or "too close to white people". They are "model minorities", they were "integrated", they are seen as coming from either "powerful" nations ranked the same as former colonialist powers (Japan, China), either from "sheltered" and "untouchable" areas (the massive Jewish acceptance and defense after WWII). And the result of these considerations is that the extreme-left treat these groups as just "shades of White people", and they get conflated with things such as "those racist WASPs folks" or "the dominant all-white Christian xenophobes". And then all the stereotypes are thrown at them - the Jews, just like Asians, have supposedly too much influence on politics, too much presence in media, they are naturally wealthier than regular people, they are naturally less discriminated and less hated than others... And in turn, the extreme-left decides "We will not speak of them. We will not fight for them or stand up for them because they do not need it, because they are too close to the elite, because they are too close to our enemies. We'll focus on more "important" people."
And thus, from the noble cause of defending oppressed and discriminated minorities that knew a long history of racism and persecution... we go perpetuating the discrimination and erasure of OTHER minorities and ethnicities that had a long history of racism and persecution. It is... like some sort of perverse "discrimination contest" where people somehow "deserve" to be defend against discriminations and others do not? Some sort of fucked-up ethnic hierarchy that in the end is literaly no different from the same ethnic hierarchies racists of the extreme-right put in place to justify their hatred.
And if the slightest event produces a spark strong enough to set the fuel ablaze... the extreme-left goes from ignoring and passive discrimination to active discrimination. As we can see today by the left of extreme-left antisemitism.
I don't think I have anything else to say? This post is very long, but I got to say everything I had to say, and I am quite glad I did. I wrote it all in one go, so there might be typos, but I do not think I can sum up my words anymore than that.

agent 3 getting dragged in Smg3's schemes..... This is so funny to me idk why
Smg3 is capitalising on THIS cause there can only be one 3 or some shit like that
Technically if you asked him he'd say it's because they're more-or-less part of the group by that point and also they were important enough to the Anime Arc for him to include their role in the play....
but also yeah he totally is that bitter and petty about there being another person named 3 lol

despite it all, you will never convince me that bethesda and obsidian hate each other. simply because i believe jsaw and everyone else who denies it is genuine. im not a bitter fan who projects that people are lying and petty all the time. says a lot about u imo…
i just think bethesda handles lore like theyre juggling a live grenade. and they just kind of threw it into the show runners hands like that, and then they juggled it and didnt want to commit to a real timeline for their worldbuilding decisions and it confused everyone. and bethesda just felt special that they got a tv show. and ykw in the grand scheme it is is pretty good.

Flanderization is the process in which a complex, fleshed out character gradually gets reduced to one or two traits through oversimplification. While present in varying degrees across certain Choices series, Flanderization is most present and potent in The Royal Romance/Heir/Finale.
Pre-Flanderization
MC: A newcomer to court who’s hella oblivious but incredibly resilient and willing to go out of her comfort zone for her friends. She is fiercely independent and free-spirited, something that each character she meets in Cordonia comes to respect her for. She has her silly and ditzy moments, but she's usually good at behaving in a relatively civilized manner when she needs to be. She is no stranger to hard work, and this greatly helps her adjust to courtly life.
Liam: A crown prince and eventual king as of book two who longs for freedom while also grappling with his role in the monarchy. He CONSTANTLY struggles with his desire for freedom and levity versus the leaden weight of the crown, though his sense of duty usually wins out in these internal battles. More than anything, even his own longing for freedom and independence, he wishes for the safety of his people and the prosperity of Cordonia.
Hana: A prodigy who has been forced into rigorous classes on etiquette and courtly skills since young childhood. She is remarkably talented, though incredibly humble, and is always happy to help teach others when they need assistance. She is very meek and doesn't like confrontation, and often struggles to stand up for herself, but ultimately grows stronger and more confident as the story progresses, eventually even standing up to her demanding parents. Ultimately, she wishes for the agency to choose her own path, whatever that may be.
Drake: A commoner who has long struggled with his place in the Cordonian court, regardless of his friendship with the prince and his father's service as a Guardian of the Realm. He is gruff and jaded from his negative experiences and poor treatment by nobles and royals, which only worsens when his sister disappears. He fears the prince will eventually forget about him, or worse, will be embarrassed by him, because he is merely a commoner. He is teased by his friends for his lack of courtly knowledge but does eventually take time to learn courtly customs for the sake of the prince's image. Regardless of these fears and his bitterness, he is a loyal friend with a heart of gold and a healthy dose of humility.
Maxwell: A younger brother to the Duke of Ramsford who feels he is a screw-up and believes he is rightfully overshadowed by his much more responsible brother. He is carefree and fun-loving and sometimes a little absent-minded, but he has moments of wisdom and true helpfulness sprinkled throughout. He is goofy when the occasion calls for it and is always happy to indulge in a wild party, but can just as easily embody seriousness and solemnity when need be.
Olivia: A catty duchess who clings to the prince as a result of his kindness to her during the most traumatic time of her life as a small child. She is devious, two-faced, and extremely petty, often starting arguments or going for low blows just because she can. She is not used to people standing up to her, which ultimately mellows her out, though she is still aggressive at times. Particularly pressing situations let her fierce loyalty to king and country as well as her competency in combat shine through despite her initial struggle with her identity as a Nevrakis, who are known for their betrayals and scheming.
Post-Flanderization
MC: Constantly flies by the seat of her pants and somehow makes it through the most dire situations unscathed. Her silly side stops being silly and starts being unapologetically idiotic. Of course, despite her bumbling nature, she's still seen as a dangerous threat by the Via Imperii, a top-secret society that has ruled parts of the world for over two millennia. (Flanderization began in TRR book 3)
Liam: Primary trait is his sense of duty to his kingdom and his people, yet his ability to rule and prevent chaos and upheaval is terrible. He has no competence to match his promises to his kingdom. (Flanderization began in TRH book 2)
Hana: She is still remarkably talented, but the extent of her talents grow to be utterly unrealistic. She also occasionally has instances of incredibly dark or violent dialogue that in no way fit with her character ("I'm sorry Olivia, I only kill when absolutely necessary") that really throw the reader and sometimes even the other characters off. (Flanderization began in TRH book 1)
Drake: Still gruff and jaded and grumpy but to a slightly higher degree. He is also clowned on and made into a meme by his friends and the Cordonian public. (Flanderization began in TRH book 1)
Maxwell: Loud, annoying, obsessed with parties and dancing, clumsy as hell, and almost comically self-absorbed. (Flanderization began in TRR book 2)
Olivia: Much more frequently aggressive, constantly goes on about knives, hidden blades, and spy missions. She is still loyal to king and country, but her personality has been reduced to that of a human weapon. (Flanderization began in TRH book 1)

open: f/nb 21+ based: that plotline in the l w.ord where one of shane's bitter ex flings is going around town spreading fliers calling shane a heartbreaker to ruin her reputation (your muse is the bitter ex) who: kirby o'connell, she/her, 27, lesbian, karaoke bar owner

hi i wanted to let you know i have been into miraculous literally since PV days but have strayed from the fandom since around season 2-3 when "salt" stuff started getting really popular. i was tired of seeing my favorites being mangled beyond recognition to fit some weird revenge fantasy, so i just stopped. recently though i missed the blorbos. its people like you who genuinely love the show and the characters that have made my more recent experiences incredibly lovely and fulfilling. thank u :]
Aw thank you honey :’) truly as someone who got a little in to ML in 2016 and enjoyed the cute fan content and saw how much fans praised it but didn't keep up with it, only to come back to it a couple of seasons later and see how insane the fandom had become over those few years .... it is truly exhausting and baffling to see what people do to the show now. Ig this is the danger of too much self-projection and a lack of critical thinking. Even people who claimed to be done with the show in season 4 continue to run blogs obsessed with """criticizing""" the show for the stupidest and most petty things possible on a daily basis, instead of just ... walking away from it if it doesn’t appeal to them anymore. It can really give you a headache.
But it all makes me think of that one quote from the end of Ratatouille (the movie which is indisputably Pixar Animation Studios' magnum opus): "the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so." ML as a show means so much to so many people of all age groups and backgrounds across the world. ML is far more meaningful and loved and contributes far more to the world than any random schmuck's salt post/fic/comic/video essay about it on the internet. ML is a sweet show! It's a cute and fun show! It's a kind show about emotions and relationships (platonic and romantic) and the power of love but isn’t designated as a Girls Show(TM), as shows with these themes often are, so boys are watching it too! And it shows us a male superhero being soft and sensitive and a hopeless romantic and in touch with his emotions without shame and a female superhero who loves him for it! Which is so important!
Similar kids cartoons when I was growing up, things like Danny Phantom, always had the romance as not an A or B or even a C plot but basically a Z plot. Literally on the back burner. An afterthought. Not something that was created out of passion and a belief that the characters would love each other and rather just thrown in because a main heterosexual relationship for the protagonist Has to be there, for some reason. Romantic moments would be limited to The Romance Episode(TM), wherein the "romantic development" is just like ... the characters accidentally held hands or kissed or something, and would often boil down to "this boy and girl are friends so OBVIOUSLY they have to like each other," without ever really showing me why they actually love each other. And don't get me started on allll the pieces of media with a forced heterosexual romance that is little more than "this male and female character have romantic and sexual tension because they're a male and female character." Or all the pieces of animated kids media where the main male character immediately likes the main female character because she's The Pretty One (As much as I love ATLA and k/ataang, even ATLA did this in the first episode). This all always felt so lacking to me as someone who was so enamored by love even as a kid.
Then comes along ML. Chat Noir didn't fall for Ladybug because he saw her and was taken with how she was Pretty. We know he thinks she's beautiful but he was completely unaffected by this fact when he first met her!!! It wasn't until he saw her stand up to evil that he fell for her! A male character falling for a female character not because Wow She Pretty but because of her bravery and cleverness and determination to stand up to evil and do good? That shouldn't be groundbreaking but it is!!! And it's beautiful!!! And Marinette didn't fall for Adrien because he was The Hot Guy or The Cool Hero or just because he's the male character and she's the female character so she just Has To. She fell for him when she saw his vulnerability and kindness!!! I would've LOVED to have grown up with a show like ML.
God the romance? I’ve never seen so much delicious Yearning in any other western kid’s cartoon. The door scene? Hoowee.... The way each of them so desperately wants the other to see both sides of them. The ending scene of Glaciator, when Ladybug is supposed to be “rejecting” Chat Noir and Chat Noir is supposed to be giving her a platonic cheek kiss, and yet it’s one of the sweetest and most utterly romantic scenes in the show. The sad undertone of Ladynoir, of being best friends but not being able to know a single thing about each other’s lives. The pure romance of the umbrella scene. The coup de foudre.
And it doesn't matter if the episode is romance-centric or not because ML has given us a male and female hero duo with so much genuine love and affection for each other that it's palpable in every episode from the very first season (especially if you’re watching in French lmao). Just... the sweet way they talk to each other, where you can hear their fondness for each other in their voices. The way they tease and roast each other. The petnames. The way they support and protect and take care of each other in and out of battles (specific moments like Ladybug looking after and reassuring Scaredy-cat Chat Noir in Reverser and Chat Noir putting Ladybug’s yo-yo over her mouth for her so she could breathe underwater in Truth make me so insane). The whole concept of “them against the world.” The way that even while loving Ladybug, Chat Noir has no problem telling her when he disagrees with her. The way they will have disagreements/conflicts that are completely in line with their established character traits and weaknesses, but aren’t able to stay mad at each other for more than a minute because of their softness for each other, and always come back from it because above all else they care about and love each other. It’s so unmatched. That’s love bitch
Speaking of how their conflicts are completely in line with their established character traits and weaknesses - the characters are incredibly deep and human and consistently written with motivations and personalities and flaws that all make so much sense! And they’ve developed so much since the start of the show! And the two protagonists mean so much to and resonate with so many people, kids and adults alike. Plenty of people have gone in to the depth of Adrien’s character and why he’s meaningful to people for paragraphs on end so I won’t repeat that, but I rarely see people talking about the beauty of Marinette’s character so I just have to point out like... A female superhero who is not a Strong Flawless Girlboss Who Needs No Man but one who is basically a female Peter Parker? A female superhero who is awkward around her crush and kind of Ridiculous and a hopeless romantic who makes stupid lovestruck faces at pictures of said crush and likes girly things and the color pink and wants to hold her boy’s hand and barely has her shit together and sometimes makes bad choices but is ultimately trying her best to balance her Great Power and Great Responsibility with her civilian life and relationships? Like, I’m not in to comics so sorry if this is inaccurate because I’m only pulling from Spider-Verse, but even Marvel’s attempt at making a girl Spider-Man through Spider-Gwen made her this cool badass with an undercut. I don’t want another Black Widow or Captain Marvel or whatever!!!! I love that ML basically gave us a female Spider-Man who is just as much of a complete disaster as Peter Parker was (talking specifically about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield versions). I love the way both Peter and Marinette fuck up and make mistakes and bad choices and struggle to balance their two lives and accidentally end up hurting or pushing away the people who are close to them while they’re trying so hard to do what they think is right and protect the people they love with no real guidance. The loneliness of keeping their identities a secret through all that knowing that one slip up could put everyone they love in grave danger. Not to mention Marinette’s very blatant neurodivergent coding that is so clear in everything she does? Seeing her ADHD brain basically become her strength when she’s Ladybug through the bizarre connections she can make with random objects in a split second, just like how someone with ADHD would go on seemingly bizarre and random tangents mid-conversation because their brain latched on to something and quickly made a whole bunch of connections in a short amount of time while the other person was talking? Chef’s fucking kiss baby.
And I love the episodic adventures format!!!! Lots of people do!!!! The rewatch value of every episode is so good!!! Not everything has to be a 10-ep-per-season HBO drama where each 1 hour long episode is solely focused on moving the plot? People who ask for which episodes are important and which ones are “filler” that they can skip when starting ML are so weird. The fun of ML is watching all of Ladybug and Chat Noir’s fun adventures together in every episode? I love watching them just Being Ladybug and Chat Noir while they fight bad guys and have their banter. Episodes can just be Fun!!! Episodes can just exist to BE fun and silly or to explore a specific friendship or relationship rather than being focused on the main villain plot and that’s not a flaw!!!!
tl;dr: ML is a fun and cute show with very relatable, human characters and shows a beautiful, deep, powerful loving relationship between its male and female superhero leads that a lot of similar cartoons and even movies aimed at adults can’t pull off and a lot of people genuinely love this show because of it.

For the ship bingo, Lambdabern!! <33
Tumblr media
Lambdabern, or as I like to call them Berndadelta, is THE SHIP. It is so good. What is better than eldritch-like Witch Lesbians who travel between worlds causing genuine tragedies for the funnies? Not to mention they usually do these things to try and fuck eachother over. If Bern is trying to do something abhorrent for the fun of it, Lambda will certainly arrive out of absolutely nowhere, and join the opposite "team" just so that she can make Bern's life harder. And don't get it wrong, Bern does exactly the same shit too. Basically if one of them is having fun in a universe, it is guaranteed the other is not far behind. Maybe the fact that both of them are equally terrifying to fucken everyone (aside from Featherine) is because you're going to be dealing with two insanely powerful Witches instead of one.
PEAK ROMANCE RIGHT THERE. I love them. They are so dramatic for eachother, and the concept of I don't know, being fuckin' normal about their love is virtually impossible.
Clarification on the choices in chart
I ship them as divorced: These two are the definition of contradiction. They're separated, willingly, by the Endless Sea of Fragments but they always find one another yet every time they do, they are so incredibly petty towards eachother. It's indistinguishable from a bitter divorced couple forced into a social setting together and they are so intent on viciously attempting to make the other humiliated in some way. They come up with increasingly complicated schemes for the sheer sake of trying to make the other lose. At the same time, they remember EVERYTHING about eachother, every goddamn intimate detail. They seek one another out across an infinite time-scape to have fun. They promise to meet up again once the fun is over. They have a mutual desire to inflict torture upon the other. They cuddle in a posh bed and share candies. They love eachother so much that either one of them suffering is a reason to celebrate. I could go on.
They're going to be the death of me: Literally. Meeting either of them will just end with me dying horribly or suffering a fate worse than death. In another sense, reading their insane mind games to force one of them to lose is so entertaining that any time they're pulling out every stop and twist, and backstabbing, makes me so entertained that it's a Bit Much for my brain. I get a serious case of brainrot WHENEVER I remember or come across scenes of their simultaneous and dramatic treachery towards eachother. Plus the fan-art and content is too good sometimes.
They should stay as far away from eachother: Every single time they cross paths, shit goes down and everyone involved becomes severely Traumatized. Or any underlying/current trauma of the victims gets irrevocably intensified. Plus, the longer they are apart, the more extreme they become. It's almost as if they miss eachother and want to make up for lost time by finding new, torturous and downright machiavellian ways to cause pain. This is amazing LOL
People that ship them need therapy: Anyone who is invested in umineko and berndadelta needs to find help.
It's more funny than romantic: Oh it is definitely romantic, but holy shit their dynamic is hilarious and for Witches like Lambda and Bern, conventional romance isn't their thing. You could say that they are romantic, but in an incredibly fucked up way that humans cannot replicate nor grasp. You can understand it theoretically but that's pretty much it. I don't even think a serial killer who has an obsession towards their designated Special Person could keep up at all.
Relationship Goals: I may be unhinged but even I think whatever the hell is going on between Lambda and Bern is a bit fuckin much. It's more about the dedication, their sincerity and exclusivity. I cannot imagine either of them having anyone else be sufficient for their needs. Cheating is only on the table when it comes to playing games in other people's tragedies. I can say with certainty that Lambda wouldn't ever kiss another person in an expression of love. And I can say that there is no miracle which exists where Bernkastel would lower her guard towards anyone other than Lambda (outside of their games of course, her guard is up lest the lamb win and disgrace the glory of The Witch of Miracles, Lady Bernkastel. Lambda would never let her live it down.)
The Aesthetic is everything to me: Granted I'm not a fan of Blue and Red/other bright "opposite" color coded pairings, BUT that is because it's become an oversaturated trope in most media these days. When it comes to Lambda and Bern however, it fuckin slaps AND Umineko was written a fair while back where it wasn't AS common, so I guess you could say I'm a little biased. Aside from the color, their actual designs are not only perfect complements to their natures but are really well done and unique. It's pleasing to look at. Another factor of their aesthetic is their titles, or rather, what "domain" they rule over. A Witch of Miracles, who can find just about any possibility as long as its existence isn't 0, with the Witch of Certainty who grants a desired outcome based on the determination and effort of the individual is SUCH synchronicity I have no choice but to admire it... and also get extreme autism brainrot whenever I think about it.
If you've read this far, I'm sure that you're just as clinically insane as I am and for those of you who haven't played umineko, go do that. There are Witch Lesbians. Also murder.
Side note: thank you my love Roseofcards for the ask, this was such a banger to write. I also had to write it twice, because tumblr crashed. Don't ask me how long it took to write this reply in one session... let's just say, there's no movie night tonight.
