Ngl I really hate how barren fish representation actually is :( There's two types of fish ever. Fish and shark and sometimes ray. They always show generic fishes only, like nonspecific fishes with one or two primary colours plastered on the side. Where are the pipefishes? The anemonefishes? The anglerfishes? The damselfishes? The morays? The hogfishes? The groupers? The marlins, the tunas? Even the wrasses???? There are never any specific species, just red fish, blue fish, that's it!

No need to be passive aggressive @among-the-seaweeds-deactivated. You say anemonefishes are oversaturated in the media? In that case, point me to the seemingly abundant movies where two-band anemonefishes are the main character? How about the ones with only Mauritian and orange-fin anemonefish leads? Red saddlebacks, tomato anemonefish, orange anemonefish, skunk anemonefish, wide-band anemonefish, I could go on. Just because one species of anemonefish, the clown anemonefish, starred in one movie doesn't mean that the rest have it super nice and cozy.
Finding Nemo wasn't even too good for clown anemonefishes either. It's the only movie many have seen that even features a clownfish in a speaking role. My anemonefish roommate has often had people calling her Nemo or asking her to tell a joke because it's a "funny gag" from the movie. It's the first thing people tell her when they meet her a lot of the time. Trust me, the only person who has a problem with better fish species representation is you.

Hear me out idk this is just a lil something but what if. What if eremite Kaveh was still interested in architecture and art but he had no one to really show it to that would enjoy it of the same amount. So he has just some doodles or something and one day Alhaitham stumbles across them
thats actually what i had already planned !
(im so sorry im rambling again gosh i cant stop it)
kaveh still kept the things he and his father had on them when they traveled to the desert, like his research notes and journal. the journal contains drawings of his mother that his father always kept with him and kaveh (he always was interested in architecture and arts like his mom since he grew up still the same until the accident happened) rlly admires his mothers works and kept drawing, in the same sketchbook she had gifted him as a kid and that was on him on this trip to the desert
when haitham finds it completely by accident and flips through it, theres many sketches and drawings that clearly show kavehs growth and talent; a lot of sketches of his parents (there is uncertainty in his lines that make up their facial features, as if he no longer remembers their faces so clearly anymore), sketches of his home and views (that he still remembered), constellations he had seen and that his father had taught him (since he was a rtawahist scholar) with little notes on their names and meanings in the script of the desert (the eremites must have taught him), some eremites dancing and eating together (perhaps the ones that took him in and he grew up with as family), sketches of designs to improve their camp for more comfort and protection from the desert, some pretty patterns he must have seen in ruins or on travelers clothes and he found inspiring or beautiful enough to memorize in his book, several sketches of three desert foxes playing together, jumping around, sleeping, etc (are those his pets? there are names written underneath), flowers and lots of birds, aether and paimon napping at the campfire .........
there are a lot of sketches of him. him reading, him sleeping, him smiling. a page dedicated to his eyes (the note underneath says i cant grasp his gaze, the way he observes and looks at things. the way he looks at me. i dont want to forget it) unlike most of the others, those sketches seem to be completely from kavehs imagination and without direct reference bc haitham doesnt remember seeing him draw even once; he probably must draw at night when hes guarding the camp
kaveh gets extremely embarrassed when he notices haitham looking through his sketchbook and refuses to look or talk to him until haitham blurts out how beautiful his sketches are. he may not be quite the artsy person but even he is impressed and kaveh feels his words and interest are genuine and then he shows him the rest of the book (carefully hiding the haitham sketches), telling him a little about each sketch and its story, what he remembers of his parents, his home, how he always was interested in art and design just like his mom, that he kept drawing and loves fiddling with the puzzles and machines scattered all over the desert, building and improving the camps while still keeping an eye on aesthetics (its kind of cute of him in all his hard works to still watch that the fabrics match)...
(that night haitham dreams of taking kaveh home with him, to show him all the sights he believes he would love and sketch down, to give him the chance to pursue this kind of academic path if he wished to,.....to fulfill any of his wishes that was possible for him to grant, as the acting grand sage of the sumeru akademiya; as the man that is deeply in love)

First bit of graphic design I've done in a year and its a fake logo for a hyperspecific AU... don't know how I didn't see that coming honestly.
Ok lets talk about why I went with 'Ghost Fighters' outside of the obvious name pun.
The main enemies the boys face would be ghosts. They are composed entirely of the suffering of people who have passed. The few memories that they have are of their worst experiences, but for the most part they just kind of exist as memories of suffering. Generally these spirits move on after a day or two, but if there is a specific strong attachment to a place or person or trauma sometimes they stick around longer. Someone who was murdered would probably not stick around as long as someone who died of old age.
The general appearance is of an emaciated figure with very few features. They usually have 'ribbons' that extend out of the backs of their heads, the ends of these are sharp and used for fighting. The elongated arms and sharpened two fingered hands with a thumb are also used for slashing.
Ghosts seek out similar suffering in their area. They cant move more than 1/2 mile away from where they died, which gives them a bit of room to roam, but if you live in a place where theres a high concentration of murder they have a higher chance of running into each other.
If they DO. It gets BAD and it gets bad FAST. Ghosts can merge together and so your'e dealing with double the ribbons and double the claws. Their roaming spaces merge which mean that they can find more ghosts to merge with. There isn't really a limit on how many ghosts can merge together. When things like natural disasters happen, you can get large ghost conglomerates and FAST.
It is very rare but sometimes the ghosts will haunt people. People who stay in one space the majority of the time are stuck in the same haunting area as a ghost. All they have to do is temporary move away until either a Ghost Fighter destroys the ghost or it dissipates on its own. If they do end up being possessed you essentially have a ghost in free roam. There really isn't bringing someone back from that.
Generally people cant see ghosts. Ghost Fighters can, of course, but there are also very rare 'psychics' who can see ghosts. Most people cant see them until they start to conglomerate in numbers of 20 or 30. By then it is a VERY large ghost mass and needs to be dealt with. The effects of the ghost can be seen (claw marks in cement, dents where they've been thrown into walls) but generally they go un-noticed by the population.
ALRIGHT. RANDOM FUN DOODLES ASIDE lets talk Ghost Fighter physiology. (it is so so important to me that Roxanne has No Chill whatsoever. SO. IMPORTANT.)
All Ghost Fighters have 'nail polish' with their corresponding color. It used to help them identify each other, but after the rise of nail polish its uhhhhh. not very effective. It's really not nail polish though, thats just the color of the nail now :)
Connection Gems rest on the chest and are embedded into flesh. They allow a Familiar to channel magic through their person! Familiars are a lot like the 'paper flamethrower' metaphor. Lots of power, but unable to use it without destroying themselves. Ghost Fighters allow them a way to express their magic.
EYES. You already know what the fuck it is bro. I don't need to explain myself here yall know me by now but fuck it imma try and find a way to reason it out anyway. Humans aren't really built to contain so much magic, so it shows through in little ways, like shining out of their eyes just a lil bit.
Speaking of which, Ghost Fighters are a little uh. Weird. You know the whole thing with elves? Where they look almost too pretty and the longer you look the stranger it gets? They have that going on. Their hair is always settled just right, their skin is dewy and almost shiny, the light always hits their eyes JUST right. Even bedheads still manage to looks planned and perfect.
SO. When you get a guy like Robbie? Whose attractive to start with but scowls all the time? When he finally DOES smile? Holy Shit. Nobody is prepared for it. Nuclear levels of pretty. Almost hurts to look at. 100 Billion enraptured 30,000 gay / bi awakening.
More stuff about familiars (Eli in particular. Need to think harder about his specific weirdness), transformation sequences, ultimate attacks, and interpersonal relationships on the way. I just. NEEDED. To get what I have so far out there dude. Brain too full. Door stuck. DOOR STUC K.

1 - 02/08/2023 : Trixie :) i think this is the first traditional thing i drew of her? i like it but im still ironing out the kinks a bit with her
2 - 04/08/2023 : one of my more ambitious-ish pieces of the year, i wanted to draw a fullbody of Ru in a unique pose surrounded by all her things, think of it like a fun eye spy i guess x theres obvs some bits i could have done better but overall im happy with the pose
3 - 05/08/2023 : found a silly pic and it reminded me of Alice so i drew her over it... on her weekly aldi shop in her jarmas x
4, 5, 6 - 16/08/2023 : think i was testing out a new sketchbook, paper is a bit funny and not something ive drawn on for awhile, since i usually buy the same kind of sketchbook every time, but these 3 doodles are from a new one, a lil Ru and some silly ones
7, 8, 9 - 17/08/2023 : some silly phone doodles of Trixie, mostly, Richie is there too...... she is a diesel engine, and also smells, naturally.. a lil lineless thing of her in there too, think i was figuring out some colours
10 - 20/08/2023 : felt like doing some inked traditional art again, so did a lil Ru doodle x
11 - 21/08/2023 : a very random fanart for a mobile game!! i wanted to draw the mains from Text Express, which is a really good mobile game actually... i kno they gay
12 - 24/08/2023 : now commencing train derangement.... heres a pen doodle of Edward from TTTE <3 i did say there would be more pen doodles soon
13, 14 - 26/08/2023 : little face doodles, decided to turn Ru into a choochoo (i like to call her chooshada), so theres also some initial pen doodles of her as her basis, the NER 398 Class, the class had a history of boiler explosions and had many rebuilds, so i think its happened to her... at least once x

i am having a horrible chronic pain and illness flareup today but i absolutely NEED to take a shower because its been way too many days now (i have been Extra Sick the past week or two-ish and have had even less energy than i do regularly which is. less than none. regularly. lmao 😞) but it Will flare up my symptoms even worse than it is right now and its very difficult to negotiate to my brain that i still have to take care of my body and myself despite that. but my brain is like. HYPERFIXATION DISTRACTION: U SHOULD DRAW NATHALIE (character i love who is canonically disabled and has very similar symptoms 2 my real life disability symptoms and is also my personal patron saint of comically bad chronic pain/illness circumstances)
and there is just. idk how to describe it. theres a really fucking stupid funny phenomenon that just happened in my brain where as soon as the hyperfixation side tried to sneak its lil Avoiding A Necessary Task By Focusing On Special Interest Thing Instead urge into my train of thought it IMMEDIATELY made the logical part of my brain go "oh, absolutely not. now you HAVE to go take a shower and brush your teeth and take care of yourself despite the horribleness of those things w ur current pain situation because ur fav chronic pain girlie Ms Nathalie EternalBedrest would actively disapprove of you sketching lil doodles of her to avoid a necessary health related task and knowing that she would be supremely disappointed in u if she was a real person and not a cartoon character is an even worse feeling than knowing that u will be in more pain post-shower".
so now i have to go do it. my brain is so hyperfixation and special interest oriented 24/7 that it just did an Olympic track race all by itself starting at "cant do it, worse pain incoming", running to "focus on something involving disabled character u love and relate to instead" and then crossed the finish line at "if she was real she'd scold you like you're a fucking child and that sucks so much. thats embarrassing as hell. she would hate ur stupid distraction doodles. why do u wanna make her more sad than she already is. she is so sad all of the time and u are not helping"
anyways once again Nathalie from My Most Embarrassing Special Interest Media has saved the day just by existing in a fictional realm and also in my personal brain all the time forever. thanks queen

Howdy im here from the ask box open post you reblogged, i wanted to pop in and say i really like how expressive your art is! Most of my drawings are just doodles of lil circle heads so i dont know like anything about art that's like. anatomically-correct, haha, but i DO know about facial expressions and yours are soo nice! Its subtle enough it feels realistic but its still manages to be so expressive! I only scrolled through your art blog for a little bit cause the art you drew of ash and pikachu really stood out to me as like oh WOW that EXPRESSION i gotta make my ask about that wowie zowie! Theres just something THERE that makes it feel so much more ALIVE and like WOW look at the WIZARD of ART over here breathing LIFE into a TWO-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE

honESTLY expressions are literally my favorite thing to draw Ever!! :'0 I love the concept of cartoony expressions of course, but subtle or "realistic" expressions are what I have the most fun with ;0; unfortunately that probably means a lot of my art ends up looking kinda similar (or has a specific Mood about it; everyone i draw always looks Mildly Concerned lol), but I like to hope that's okay :0 glad u liked the Pokemon art!! that one was just a fun little scribble so it surprised me that so many folks ended up liking it, haha!
oh gosh anatomy is harddddd lol - so I feel ya on that! really the best you can do is just keep plugging away at it. I definitely don't feel like i'm all that great at it myself, but consistent practice with it brought me ahead of where I used to be! so don't stop drawing, you got this! :'D

oh So So Many things. iam Deeply Deeply sentimental and tend t just. hold onto things Just Because! like, i still have all of my old doodling notebooks since like elementary school kjngdkjfngk
some of my oldest stuff though um... prolly my collection of pokemon cards and plushies! as a kid i was a ridiculously huge pokemon fanatic (and still kind of am, just a lil more toned down skjdngk) so i have like. a lil tuppercontainer full of cards and an ikea bag full of old plushies! ive had some of these things since like... hell, i think pre-elementary for some of em, its been a lifelong thing WAHAHAH
(^ my cat george w/ my two oldest plushies not in storage :])
31. what type of music keeps you grounded?
ooh, theres actually a couple of things! "grounding" is a bit of a. hard term for me since im kind of always running on high, but if i start Feeling A Type Of Way(tm) i usually come back to these few!
- Coffee and Ramen (Go!Child): literally one of my favorite albums of all time. its very soft and heartfelt, and i really cant explain it in any way other than "looking up at the sky on a walk home from the cafe." its sweet and mellow and feels like home.
- Sayonara Wild Hearts [ost]: the entire thing is like 45 min long and it feels like a fond dream. kinda like lying face up in bed, phone on your belly, headphones on. everything just kinda disappears a while and its very peaceful.
- Celeste [ost]: its barely been a year since ive played it and it already feels like an old friend. i cant listen to it often, because it will make me sad, but i love it very dearly. its kind of electric and tangy and dusty like an old but fond book. yknow those dreams where you like... have a friend you just know you care about more than anything, and you wake up and miss them, even though they arent real? its like that, to me.
- PMD Explorers [ost]: this is getting long but if i didnt mention it i would get so so sad. literally my oldest most irreplaceable friend. yknow that art where people draw a bunch of characters falling asleep in a big ol pile? feels like that. safe and warm and happy and like running down a hill on a windy day. my best friend. thankyou. bows.

1. right now i dont have any rlly! i main clip studio, shes my love and joy, but i have medibang too and i still use it for simpler lil things.
2. i dont rlly find myself seeing much difference in drawing either side! for me theyre just the same but flipped

5. i post pretty much all of my finished stuff? like scrolling thru all my clip studio layers theres only like a few i havent posted. if we're including all my little doodles, the fraction goes like WAYYY up i have so many sketches that just never see the light of day
7. physical painting! i could never have the time or supplies to do it, but i love just everything about them. like all the styles, techniques and the TEXTURE its so cool
9. simply put, they are not! i hardly make new files, if you scroll through all my art from this year, i can guarantee that at least like 80% of them dont have their own files and have just been copy and pasted from the same few clip studio canvases. as for the files i do have, its usually just a random word or a number, for example:
