sometimes people tell me “it’s not that deep” with regards to Mal but I would argue it’s not deep enough. like do you really think this canonically traumatized teenager is just shadow the hedgehog in human form or do you think there could be Something Else Going On There

ok now that the rage is out, actual rational reason for why this pisses me off so much.
if my love & devotion to pandora hearts didn't make it clear enough, my favorite niche of media is alice in wonderland inspired works. if i know something is inspired by aiw, i'm gonna at least look into it automatically. dunno why, honestly. but, it's been like this since i was SUPER young.
that being said, im obviously p versed in alice in wonderland inspired media. i haven't consumed them all, i'm sure there's many i'm unaware of, but. i've consumed enough to confidently assure alice in borderland is the first time i personally have ever seen an alice in wonderland inspired media portray alice as a guy, while still having him be named alice.
and, like! it's honestly SUPER clever to get away with doing this by having alice be ryohei's last name instead of his first. because, obviously, 'alice' is not typically a male name. it can be bc gender is a concept yada yada, but. like. u get what i mean.
so, like. baring that in mind. if somebody who has absolutely zero concept of how japanese pronunciation works stumbled across alice in borderland, & watched w the english subtitles... they'd have no reason to question if 'arisu' is meant to be 'alice'. bc. why would it be? they're expecting 'alice' to be a female character.
& so, like. it honestly rly fucking sucks that this really interesting way of taking the alice in wonderland inspo & portraying its references as it does gets completely sacked & made out as pointless by having alice not be referred to AS alice.
& even more so bc additionally, the white rabbit is a woman in the show. so, we have these two prominent characters from alice in wonderland being swapped. but, like. that doesn't even get to be properly appreciated bc they don't let u know alice IS alice. it genuinely just comes across as 'huh, weird this show named alice in borderland, & that's v clearly inspired by alice in wonderland, has a MALE lead & his name is arisu. weird this aiw inspired media has no alice.'
tbh part of me wonders if that's why they decided to go w that decision. to blatantly erase how silently groundbreaking it is to have an alice in wonderland inspired work where alice is still named alice, but is a guy instead of a girl. the silent way that breaks down gender stereotypes and such. but, nope. that all gets lost.
fucking bullshit.
also yes ik im v stupidly passionate abt this, but again. aiw-inspired works is my FAVORITE niche genre of media ever. my favorite series of all time is literally an aiw-inspired work. ive never seen an aiw-inspired work do this. not saying no others exist, & if they do, pls lmk! but. yeah. it does suck the only example ik of doing this gets stomped by refusing to let alice be named alice.
#mine#i think tsukasa is the only other alice allusion character i can think of that's a guy.#but. like. he doesn't count against my point bc his name isn't alice.#& he's also meant to represent multiple aiw charas. not JUST alice.#so. yeah. this is the only media ik where alice is still named alice & gets to be a guy & they just do not let him stay alice#it's weird & feels lowkey v shitty. for the aforementioned dismantle of how silently groundbreaking that decision is#& how clever it is to get away w it by having it be his last name#esp since obviously. in japan u typically refer to someone as their last name until u know them well.#so. just. HNNNG. bothersome.#it doesnt actually keep me up at night but it does like. bother me. a lot.#idk how that decision even got approved w how much it actually fucks up the viewing experience of a completely#uneducated viewer when it comes to knowing anything abt how japanese words are pronounced but.#tbh the only explanation i can think of for it IS they just didnt want u to know he's alice. bc they're cowards. which is weird but.#idk. literally no other reason to do that. u can't even like. try to claim it's for accuracy sake.#bc it's. literally not accurate. if ur gonna translate the name of the series completely into english. the namesake chara should also#have their name completely translated. to avoid confusion.#UGH OK IM DONE BACK TO ACTUALLY WATCHING AND ROTTING AWAY IM SORRY IM JUST RLY PASSIONATE ABT DUMB SHIT#alice in borderland

nobody asked, so here's my take on Nina and Maggie's storyline.
in general, i can grumble about how I'd wish their personalities outside the budding relationship arc were handled better; yet I have to admit the ending's impressive. Neil wrote an entire wlw sideplot to showcase the problems of the main couple through their respective counterparts. it sits well with how Aziraphale and Crowley treat humans sometimes. there's a bonus of haha, gotcha, you fell for the character's façade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer, in the way you automatically assume Nina equals Crowley and Maggie = Aziraphale. it's also fun to figure out why they are the opposite. maybe not enough to sustain the need for watching fully fleshed-out people on the screen, but still a bonus.
the thing is— you're ready to leave, a bit disappointed when Neil takes your head, turns it gently around and says "watch now". at the last possible minute, he invites the precious cardboard cutouts of our ineffable duo to sit on the couch — the special therapy lesbian friend couch — and he lets the toxic relationship survivor say, out loud, "actually, we didn't enjoy being the narrative mirror to your forbidden gay romance :/". you don't even get a second to wheeze what before the soft one chimes in with, "right, especially since it didn't work, because you still haven't confessed your feelings :// get loved idiot."
it doesn't fix the lack of substance, but I'm just saying. show me a TV show writer so self-aware his script choices aren't too fair to the L and B in the LGBTQ community, who decides to apologize by... making out sloppy style with the fourth wall??? i'll wait.

hiii, its the guy who asked for help on jake!! i read through all the posts youve provided and i feel sufficiently more melancholy.
you know that one post that goes "you fell for the character's facade that is meant to be dismantled by the viewer" ? that was sort of my issue. i knew that there was some ruse he was upholding, i just... didnt know where it ended and where he started, i guess? and if i know that i dont know things, theres probably a lot that i DONT KNOW that i dont know about him. id seen some analyses of him regarding necrophilia (blue beauties) , how grandpa traumatized jade in some way she has repressed to infinity (meteor size=trauma size) and that provided... precisely no insight on his character for me. like nothing was clicking in my brain. i felt kind of stupid because all i felt towards jake was a) pity towards him being a narrative punching bag and b) that he was kind of an asshole. i mean, he is both of those things, but it was pretty unfair of me to acknowledge only that part of him when he is so much more. and regarding being more i guess now it makes me feel strange? how harshly he judges himself and pushes himself in the most over-the-top convoluted fashion to try and be MORE and it doesn't really happen. nothing really happens for the better?
i dont know how to put this or if im even correct but its more than just one charade he's playing (?). there's the repression of his true feelings, and on top of that a belief that there is no repression here no sir, and on top of that is his manly adventurer manic dreamboat pixie persona (i believe is what you said?) that even he tries to fall for ("if you believe in stuff with enough gusto it imbues that stuff with a pinch more chutzpah even the fake stuff!" man come on) but please correct me if im wrong lol im clearly rambling about nothing
You have no idea how happy this makes me!! Yes youre really getting it now!! Believing with petrol as one might say!! Hes so crazy. I love him. Im happy the resources helped you a lot hes my favourite character ever!
The way he pushes him is insane because he worries about the wrong things and then becomes tunnelvisioned about it so doesnt see the blaring problem of that actually his friends are bothered about something so much more serious! He is an onion. Trying to believe in the facade he puts up and comtinuing to be daunted by “is the thing under the facade really worth much?” Which i think is so interesting!! Please ramble more about jake if you need to. Im happy :)

god forbid a character be morally ambiguous or make mistakes or have a lapse in judgment or have a facade meant to be dismantled by the viewer or—
it’s so fun being a very big fan of both of these characters. so so fun 😔
I mean tristrat makes it pretty easy to misinterpret or underappreciate certain characters in a sense because they’re. three dimensional! and complex! and INTERESTING! and dealing with VERY TOUGH CIRCUMSTANCES AND DECISIONS but even still, understanding the characters boils down to playing the game to its fullest and not just immediately dismissing a character because they made one bad or otherwise questionable decision (as fun as it is to poke fun at certain decisions sometimes like yeah let’s go blow up a dam that sounds fun, it is still good to actually. understand. why the choice was offered in the first place?)
some of the temenos takes out there though. yikes. just. yikes. I don’t even know where to begin with those also I’d feel bad just randomly dumping my thoughts on the matter in your inbox sorry
uh sorry for randomly throwing this at you but I read those tags and felt them in the core of my being
Fortunately with Roland it feels like the fandom has gotten better with the bad fan takes or I'm just good at curating my fandom space haha but being a Roland fan during the early days was rough bc it felt like people saw Roland's chapter 17 decision and immediately threw out all previous characterizations and ignored any further characterization. I think I even saw posts on reddit complaining how he was helping the Roselle in the non utility endings bc they seem to think that's why his chapter 17 decision is what it was. Like its an absolutely horrid decision, but it was made out of hatred for himself and for Aesfrost.
And there was also people who assumed that I only liked Roland bc I wasn't that far in the game (note: when I got the comment, I had already finished my first TriStrat run)
And yeah, there's definitely the point that Triangle Strategy lets you make horrible decisions (you mentioned the dam, but you also have things like selling out the Roselle chapter 11).
There are 100% critiques you can make about Roland, but many of those critiques and takes feel like they were made out of bad faith.
As with Temenos, the mischaracterization, especially when in reference to shipping him with Crick is what made me dislike the ship. Especially early on, it felt like a looot of the ship content was flattening Temmy (and Crick) to fit the two perfectly into flat ship dynamics. I've actually found my self less frustrated (and occasionally) with Temenos x Crick content that actually treats them like multidimensional characters.
And even without the ship stuff, there's people who don't understand that a large part of Temmy's personality is a mask (which also feels very flattening).

Thoughts on rhaencient?
and
Thoughts on rhaencient
and
What are ur thoughts on rhaenyra and alicents relationship?
i hear your grievances and i have come to address them!
what can i say, anons. this was one of the changes i really liked from the books. by making alicent rhaenyra's age, they removed the frankly overdone evil stepmother trope. or, rather, by making them childhood companions, they subverted it in an unexpected way. it's really "shut up or i'll fuck ur dad" only with extra layers of tragedy.
i thought their dynamic was really well done actually? i loved how they were framed. alicent helping rhaenyra dress before her ceremonial investiture. the twin faces of sorrow when viserys announces he will marry alicent in the small council room. the deleted scenes of rhaenyra helping alicent in her wedding dress. the hand-holding after the tapestries farce! the "alicent, your grace, sister"!!!! i was obsessed with THE GIRLS in the first half of the show!
i've noticed that the gay subtext really flies over a lot of people's heads & i think it's bc it's more socially-acceptable for girls to display physical affection towards each other than it is for men. so it's easier for viewers to resort to the traditional reading that "they're just gal pals". i was v disappointed with some male asoiaf reviewers i've watched since so many elements that had to do with womanhood were completely invisible to them. it was so jarring. but there was this permeating sense of YEARNING and melancholic tension that emanated out of these two, like you could sense they were meant to be soulmates
i think it's fair to say that rhaenyra is probably a bisexual woman (esp if we also take into account her dalliance with laena in the books), as she seems to also be very comfortable within relationships with men. but, for alicent, i don't really think she knows what she is. that exploration of self was denied to her and her feelings for rhaenyra were misdirected the moment she was forced to have children & fear for their lives. there's also this little-discussed facet of alicent as a queer woman shoved inside a very traditional female matronly role from a very early age. coerced into having old man sex with her decaying husband, impregnated against her will, just very generally developing a noxious relationship with sex. whereas rhaenyra is afforded the opportunity of reveling in romantic love and inhabits the role of motherhood from a much calmer, more balanced perspective
i've already spoken about the symbolism of The Page in the final third of this post, but alicent & rhaenyra are such representatives of their houses' respective ideologies: soft power & diplomacy vs conquest & claiming. alicent wants to tame rhaenyra. rhaenyra wants to ravish alicent. they could have MAYBE balanced each other out in a utopic world where they would have just been allowed to BE & it's so jarring to see how they're torn apart by gross old men who barter with women's bodies and convince themselves they are doing what's right for them & their families. but ofc it's also The System TM as a whole at fault here. no one wins, no one is happy, no one is safe under patriarchal feudalism.
the breakdown of their relationship doesn't happen overnight, it's a ruin dismantled brick by brick by them, their fathers, the society that has no place for them to explore their bond, the bankruptcy of empathy, the failure of trust, but still they cling onto each other whenever they are rewarded a moment of respite!

“Andor” could very well be paying the price for Disney’s decade-long dismantling of the “Star Wars” brand. The die-hard fans will always tune in, but casual moviegoers and TV watchers have been betrayed one too many times. There was the toxic fan service following “The Last Jedi,” and all the behind-the-scenes turmoil in “Solo,” not to mention a surge of uninspired over-saturation meant to prop up Disney+, while turning fan-favorite characters into filler content. Heck, “Rogue One” itself wasn’t exactly met with universal acclaim. All that (and a bit more) led to this: What stood for decades as a beacon of blockbuster excellence now warrants a healthy dose of skepticism before jumping to hyperspace.
It’s a shame, too, because where mistakes were made, “Andor” is getting just about everything right. The first three episodes (released together) quickly ditch the effects-laden look of other Disney+ entries. Environments in “The Mandalorian,” “Book of Boba Fett,” and especially “Obi-Wan Kenobi” can rely too heavily on empty, hollow atmospheres (created by Stagecraft, the budget-cutting video wall built by ILM). Even with the impressive digital surroundings, a tangible connection is lacking.
But you can feel “Andor” — the first Disney+ “Star Wars” series not to use Stagecraft — from the start. On Ferrix, a salvage and repair hub, workers rip apart wreckage for spare parts. Tools range from wrenches and hammers to hulking machines made to move the remnants of other hulking machines. Seeing characters interact with every level of the production — from the nuts and bolts to the ships and star cruisers — helps ground viewers in a blue collar perspective. These are the people who build the “Star Wars” universe you already love, and you get to see them build it.
Not only are those details fun for super fans and casual viewers alike, but how they’re captured also contributes to a shared yearning for escape. (Director Toby Haynes breaks down his contributions in an informative article by IndieWire’s Sarah Shachat.) The Empire’s gloved fist can be felt in its unjust bureaucracy (brought to crackling life by writers Gilroy, Beau Willimon, and more), as well as the physical spaces captured with exacting outlooks by the directorial teams. All together, these finer points add to the series’ sense of awe, when spacecrafts take flight and characters travel to new worlds.

I think the only obvious fact about sns is their apparent love for each other. Im a little confused on their possible homosexuality, but its not as obvious as you say it is. You need to look twice to catch them. I wish you would elaborate on where it is so obvious.
I have written about it several times. You can search SNS tags on my blog. For both Naruto and Sasuke.
You are misstating me a lot. I have always maintained that their sexuality is subtly shown, subtle as compared to the usual shounen tropes. But shown nonetheless. It has been obvious to me because I am quite exposed to LGBTQ+ cinema, I talk about these films often on this blog. So the usual tropes used in gay coming of age drama and love stories are obvious to me. I have never said that it is obvious to everyone. I am always talking about subtleties and layering. I don't know what content of mine you have been reading. Lol.
Look man, even if you weren't exposed to these themes, the story itself is written pretty intuitively and it certainly is written to encourage curiosity in the average audience. Sure, not everything is made crystal clear to the audience deliberately, but it's crazy how blatantly layered it is visually and narratively. Even during my first watch, i would get puzzled or hooked a lot of times and curiosity made me mad. While i could surely recognise the tropes, that it was shounen had sent me for a toss, it was certainly not easy to digest. But then I remembered watching Cardcaptor Sakura and I felt better lol. It was quite a strange experience to see a gay love story in what's practically a kids show meant for boys. I know how genres work. But I waited until the end to go looking for fan discourses, I wanted a watching experience unperturbed by extraneous things. Most of all, Kishi's storytelling hooked me, he is a hell of a writer honestly. He really knows where to strike and what to use to strike with. That brutal brutal beautiful man. Only a truly intuitive, empathetic and sensitive person can write something like that. And talented af to boot.
Anyway, honestly, many sensitive readers or viewers could tell that there was something not quite right with the way the romance was superficially set up in the story. Naruto and Sakura, Sakura and Sasuke, Naruto and Hinata. It was a subliminal response. It takes some time to dismantle it in your head, but you get used to it with time. When reading the manga, I did struggle initially because it was a new medium for me, i settled down soon enough. It was very enjoyable. And it only reinforced everything I knew with the anime even more acutely.
One of my fav fellow Naruto fans, clocked it out at the age 13. A child. Simply curiosity and an advanced sense of comprehension. And a looooot of others could tell in their first watch. That they are gay has been the running narrative since the beginning of this manga, many fans have been making memes and jokes about it, SNS communities and channels have millions of subscribers the world over. And they are not analysis bloggers like me, lol. You really think it's that unclear?
Look I am not taking away from anyone if they cannot get it at first glance. Some can, some cannot. There are several factors. Depends on how sharp your comprehension is or how experienced you are, or how exposed you are to gay tropes and narrative devices. But the good thing is, one can always develop their senses, train them, discipline their eyes and ears and mind, to focus more and pay attention, ask questions. It's how you enjoy media in all its glory.
Naruto inspires so much in people, so many from the queer community relate to Sasuke and Naruto, so many closeted folks see themselves in Naruto and Sasuke, and are comforted by it, inspired even. Representation matters. So much empathy to go around. I am not even the first person to have started talking about it lol, how come you missed all the others? It has been the topic of hot debates for years all over the world man. They have been talking about how obvious it has been from almost the get go. You can't measure everyone with the same lenses. Not everyone would have the same skill sets.
The short of it is, lol, it's obvious if you know what you are looking at. It's a little confusing and you have to look twice if you don't know what you are looking at but are curious nonetheless so you invest and then find out that way. But if you are closed off and unreceptive, you probably won't have the benefit of this lovely story in all its radiance. Or any story.

Graphic videos of animal abuse have circulated widely on Twitter in recent weeks, generating outrage and renewed concern over the platform’s moderation practices.
One such video, in which a kitten appears to be placed inside a blender and then killed, has become so notorious that reactions to it have become their own genre of internet content.
Laura Clemens, 46, said her 11-year-old son came home from his school in London two weeks ago and asked if she had seen the video.
“There’s something about a cat in a blender,” Clemens remembered her son saying.
Clemens said she went on Twitter and searched for “cat,” and the search box suggested searching for “cat in a blender.”
Clemens said that she clicked on the suggested search term and a gruesome video of what appeared to be a kitten being killed inside of a blender appeared instantly. For users who have not manually turned off autoplay, the video will begin rolling instantly. NBC News was able to replicate the same process to surface the video on Wednesday.
Clemens said she is grateful her child asked her about the video instead of simply going on Twitter and typing in the word “cat” by himself.
“I’m glad that my child has talked to me, but there must be lots of parents whose kids just look it up,” she said.
The spread of the video as well as its presence in Twitter’s suggested searches is part of a worrying trend of animal cruelty videos that have littered the social media platform following Elon Musk’s takeover, which included mass layoffs and deep cuts to the company’s content moderation and safety teams.
Last weekend, gory videos from two violent events in Texas spread on Twitter, with some users saying that the images had been pushed into the platform’s algorithmic “For You” feed.
The animal abuse videos appear to predate those videos. Various users have tweeted that they have seen the cat video, with some trying to get Musk’s attention on the issue — some dating back to early May. Clemens said she flagged the video on May 3 to Twitter’s support account and Ella Irwin, the vice president of trust and safety at Twitter and one of Musk’s closest advisers.
“Young children know this has been trending on your site. My little one hasn’t seen it but knows about it. It should not be an autofill suggestion,” Clemens wrote.
Neither Irwin nor Twitter safety responded to the tweet, Clemens said.
Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, told NBC News that he believes the company likely dismantled a series of safeguards meant to stop these kinds of autocomplete problems.
Roth explained that autocompleted search results on Twitter were internally known as “type-ahead search” and that the company had built a system to prevent illegal, illicit and dangerous content from appearing as autocompleting suggestions.
“There is an extensive, well-built and maintained list of things that filtered type-ahead search, and a lot of it was constructed with wildcards and regular expressions,” Roth said.
Roth said there was a several-step process to prevent gore and death videos from appearing in autocompleted search suggestions. The process was a combination of automatic and human moderation, which flagged animal cruelty and violent videos before they began to appear automatically in search results.
“Type-ahead search was really not easy to break. These are longstanding systems with multiple layers of redundancy,” said Roth. “If it just stops working, it almost defies probability.”
Autocomplete suggestions in search bars are a common feature on many social media platforms, and they can often surface disturbing content. The terms for “dog” and “cat” autocompleted viral animal cruelty videos in Twitter’s search box Thursday, when NBC News contacted the company for comment. Twitter’s press account automatically responded with a poop emoji, the company’s standard response for the last month.
As of Friday afternoon, Twitter appeared to have turned off its autocomplete suggestions in its search bar.

I have a feeling I may have fallen for the character's facade that's meant to be dismantled by the viewer - would you mind explaining?
ok its mostly pettiness but theyre def takes ive seen associated with the characters. aka sunshine one and the grumpy one (and yeah fully admit i was that when i first watched the show but overtime its very much not that) i think shoving these archtypes onto them results in missing so much of the actual characters and reducing them to fit that
with dirk its the whole 'uwu sunshine angel' that gets lubbed onto him and it kinda leads into dirk being portrayed as weak and spineless and needs to be protected. and yeah he is warm and friendly- and wants to be protected (assigning todd as 'ward') but like he can stand up for himself (he calls out riggins and todd) the only people he doesnt is priest (understandable) and the rowdies (until he was at his absolute limit) like dirks angry- its possible to be a nice person and still have anger, still be a dick. but him being viewed as a sweet angel who does no wrong ever takes it away and to me its infantilising
and with todd its basically this but the opposite. he did a bad thing therefore irredeemable monster and everything he does is clearly with evil malicious intent. and hes grumpy and miserable and doesnt want to be a part of the agency (which... what? yeah he wasnt keen at the start considering dirk gave him a dogshit first impression) todds whole thing is redemption and the fandom ignores it. and it kinda leads to the narrative that todds a cold uncaring person (or worse interpretations) when he clearly isnt? yeah he has dirty secrets but that doesnt nullify that he can be kind and gentle (its almost like these characters are nuanced or something)
tldr: dirk gets reduced to innocent baby because hes silly/friendly and todd is vilified to hell because his entire character arc is ignored and i dont like it

How do you feel about ambiguous open-ended conclusions to stories?
Sorry about taking so long to reply.
It depends on the story would be the initial answer. To try and expand on that, it depends on how that affects what happened in the story and what a reader/viewer)player will be left with. To use the two works I saw someone else you asked this to use, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Danganronpa V3 end in a way where you can potentially look at everything that happened and go "Was that all unreal even in the setting?". But they also both try to give the person playing them a message that they hope will allow the reader to still feel like the experience had meaning, with MGS2 having Snake talking about the value of what people in experience, like through what could be called fiction in some way, and in passing that to others, while DRV3 talks about fiction having meaning and power, regardless of how fake or not it might be.
To add another game, Nier Automata ends in a way where it's outright stated that all the tragedy that occured through the game could end up repeating, regardless of your efforts for the final ending. But it's a work that clearly feels that struggling to carry on and to hope for something better in spite of no reason really to do so has meaning.
In contrast to those, there's one game I played last year that had a trick in regards to how the story is presented, which turns into the reality of that setting being dismantled at the end. But for me, it doesn't feel like I'm given anything from that, in terms of story impact or conveying something. I see the twist, what results from that, and go "That's neat, them pulling this off. It meant nothing to me, but I guess I can appreciate it". A way to show what I mean would be, imagine if a show had a superbly animated moment that was given a ton of attention and clearly meant to be super important, but had no meaning for anything that's going on.
That's what badly done ambiguity feels like for me. It's there, but I don't feel anything from it. Or I'll be thinking "There's was this build up and it's for something this flat or empty?"
I guess this can be summarised like this. For me, did I come out of the work feeling like I was really impacted by what the work was trying to convey, emotionally? If a work does that, I might love that ambiguous open ending and treasure it. If I come out of a work not feeling like that or just like I can appreciate the ambiguity or whatever intellectually, any enthusiasm will likely fade to me adopting stance of "That was all neat, but I feel nothing from thinking about it".

How to Create an YouTube video of an unboxing
There are several aspects to consider when making an unboxing YouTube video. First, you need to find an item which you can take it home. You could also unbox a present from a family member or friend in the event that you don't own one. If you aren't able to find any new gadgets in the moment, you can always unbox your smartphone! No matter what you pick make sure to display your love for the process of unboxing!
Unbox a brand-new item
The holiday season is just around, anticipation grows for presents. The holiday decorations can be seen decorating store windows and town squares. When you're shopping, YouTube offers a way to discover a brand-new product which you can then unbox. We'll go over some tips and tricks to make a great unboxing tutorial. Before you start filming your video make sure that you have the right equipment.
Videos that are unboxed are fantastic to increase traffic. Focus on recent releases to get more viewers. New products are often searched for by users. Your video will become more popular if it is associated with a business. To ensure that your unboxing videos appear appealing on video, ensure that you film it in a well-lit area.
One of the most popular unboxing channels on YouTube is iJustine. The Philadelphia native who was born in the city of 35 has over six million users. His videos show him opening up a new device and showing it to his subscribers. He receives suggestions from viewers and uploads new videos on a frequent on a regular basis. His channel's videos are well-known and have even been featured on TV.
Once you've built up a following, you can begin making money with your YouTube channel. It is possible to begin by allowing ads on YouTube. You can also approach brands to discuss reviews of their products or endorsements. After a time you can begin charging for unboxing of content. If you have a substantial number of customers, it's possible to charge higher-priced items.
Show your obsession with unboxing things
If you're someone who has a love for technology, then unboxing videos are the option. They are meant to be entertaining and show off the latest gadgets and toys. Pirillo's videos might be an exception but most unboxing videos are simply ordinary people taking items out of their boxes. A bad unboxing video can turn off viewers.
YouTube has been a hub for unboxing videos. This format is ideal for toys that are bright and colourful, packed with moving parts and a lot of surprises. It is also fun dismantling toys. YouTube says that one-fifths of the top 100 YouTube channels are dedicated to unboxing toys. This topic is viewed by billions.
Advertisers will love unboxing video as they are an effective method to boost sales. A lot of unboxing videos have been shown to increase the likelihood of viewers purchasing products after watching your video. Therefore, unboxing videos can help advertisers validate their decision-making process and help brands develop relationships with their viewers.
Encourage viewers to watch additional unboxing videos
YouTube videos on unboxing have gained popularity and are a great way to increase traffic. It is possible to showcase your product from a variety of angles, and viewers will be interested in watching more. The format allows viewers to imagine themselves in the product. Mirror neurons play an important role in videos that unbox, allowing viewers to project their own image of the product. The most important thing is that viewers will buy more of the products they see if they are given the best first impression.
Unboxing videos can be made more enjoyable by using transitions or other decorations. Unboxing videos can be visually heavy, but viewers will also be attracted to the voice of the person who is broadcasting the video. Make sure to speak clearly and slow when explaining the product. Give a bit of personality.

Artist Research #4: Carrie Mae Weems
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introduction/Background:
Carrie Mae Weems is an American artist who is best known for her photography. She was born in 1953 in Portland, Oregon where she became interested in dance at an early age. At the age of seventeen she joined an experimental dancer’s workshop in San Francisco and later in 1976 she moved to New York where she took a photography class at the Studio Museum in Harlem. Finally, she studied folklore in graduate school and began her work in photography, video, and art. Weems’ work focuses on “questions about race, gender, and class inequality” (Guggenheim), which brings attention to marginalized groups whose experiences are often disregarded. Although she does this in all of the works she creates, Weems saw photography as having the most potential to “reformulate black cultural mythologies while dismantling negative societal preconceptions” (Guggenheim). This resonates deeply with her as a black woman and many others struggling against racial, temporal, and socioeconomic boundaries.
Notable works:
Although she has many pieces of artwork, her photographic work remains some of her most prominent pieces during her career. Her landmark piece, however, is known as Kitchen Table Series, which was published in 1990. This project uses “images and screen printed text panels to offer a polyvalent portrayal of the modern black woman” (Guggenheim). She uses her own identity as a black woman to point out a number of issues with how women are viewed. This includes the differing opinions on women by other people, women’s ability to enjoy their own bodies, and how women construct themselves and their image. This is done by creating a staged photographed fictional drama in which she is playing the lead role. This setup creates an entire world invented by Weems with the setting always remaining the same. There’s a lot about this series that sets it apart from other photographic works I have researched, but the title of this series is what’s most eye-catching to me. The title, Kitchen Table Series refers to the false understanding that the kitchen is not an important space because it is traditionally meant for females. Weems uses this idea and turns it on its head. She suggests that “the kitchen table is the real stage where life’s biggest moments play out, and where the full range of human emotions is expressed” (National Gallery of Art). This is very progressive thinking for that time period, and it makes the title of this project even more impactful. Looking at the images in this series was really powerful for me as a viewer to see, since it depicts so many moments in a woman’s life, specifically black women, that give womanhood complexity, strength, and beauty.
Awards/Nominations:
Her awards and nominations are numerous and many honorary degrees are attached to her name. To name a few she received honorary degrees from California College of the Arts in 2001 and Colgate University in 2007. Since she has one so many awards it would take up too much space to list all of them, but some of her achievements include the following:
Photographer of the Year by the Friends of Photography
2006: Rome Prize Fellowship
2007: Anonymous Was A Woman Award
2013: Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award
2013: MacArthur Fellow, "Genius" Award
2014: BET Visual Arts Award
2015: W. E. B. Du Bois Medal from Harvard University
2015: Honorary Doctorate from the School of Visual Arts
Personal thoughts:
I was a bit skeptical about researching her since she wasn’t primarily a photographer, but she has many photographic works under name that are very impressive and well composed. I admire the direction she goes with her career and the change that she promotes. Seeing her represent not only women, but black women is very influential considering the time that many of her works were published. The way in which she photographed her art is very unique as well and gives me a new perspective on how photography works and how it can be photographed in various different ways and still leave a lasting impression on the audience. She is my favorite artist I have researched so far and I can’t wait to see all the other works she has put out into the world.

what subtly about reigen do you think gets lost sometimes by fans? :3
ohhh this is a tough one because so often people lose the overtones of his character so bad they don't even GET to the subtleties.
i can't really think of anything off the top of my head but some smaller things that i find myself noticing that bug me a little are like. and this is specifically in fanfiction but i find that a lot of people write reigen like he is a physically avoidant person. if that makes sense? like weird about touching people. which is so so odd to see. like idk why it annoys me so much but it's just kind of weird. reigen is not awkward or uncomfortable with touching people. he is a clap on the shoulder hand in the hair kinda guy. he's a masseuse.
i just see a lot of stuff like where people write mob hugging reigen and the internal monologue is like "THIS IS WEIRD.. this is not something that's ever happened before. weeirrrd as hell. kind of awkward" and then i just close my computer and open my computer again to look at any piece of official art ever at all
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry i know these are mostly just him and mob but that's what most of the mp100 official art is. it's just odd to me to see people write that he's like awkward about being physical or touchy when that is not reflected in his character in any way whatsoever
another thing i find kind of weird (and this isn't really ENTIRELY to do with canon but i feel like SPECIFICALLY in an ageswap context is really relevant) is that people act the same way about him as i find people act about dawn-as-akari in pokemon legends stuff. where they write him as being really exuberant and loud and excitable and bubbly???
i can't imagine him being like that (especially as a kid) at all. every scene he has where he's like alone with his own thoughts he seems really like. quiet and introspective yknow? and of course part of that is to do with the nature of his own thoughts during these moments but it makes me think of that post that's like "you fell for the character's facade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer!! LOL!" because people act as if the way he acts at work is the main indicator of what he's like as a person. and this isn't shown as MUCH in normal fanworks because he IS an adult who spends most of his time at work. but in the ageswap stuff specifically it grinds my gears because it shows how people think of his character.. he's a generally more serious person and you can tell that even outside of that he's not super bubbly of friendly outside of how he projects himself because he doesn't fucking have any friends his age 💀
