I have only-engages-with-media-via-word-of-mouth disease and would love to get some recommendations from yall!

First, I am always interested in recs in the scif-fi/fantasy and adjacent categories that feature queer people (though I'll note that I'm typically not interested in YA/anything super lighthearted).

Right now, though, I'm trying to read things for research/inspiration purposes while I'm developing my next big solo project (Working Title: SOUP.) To that end, I'm looking for stories that feature...

Gender fuckery - where are the modern day Left Hands of Darkness? Especially interested in stories that imagine post-gender society

Spatial horror - think megastructures and endless hallways, ala Blame! and House of Leaves

Strange or unconventional divinity - gods that are barely distinguishable from monsters, machines, or the mundane

Hivemind or Many-In-One beings or characters - unconventional takes on mindreading would also work

Worlds or environments not anchored, either partially or wholly, in physical space - think dreamscapes, spiritual realms, planes in-between or outside of the Material

Recommendations definitely don't have to have more than one of (or even heavily feature) these very specific elements btw! And again, I'm happy to hear about basically any book in the scif-fi/fantasy and adjacent categories that has queer people in it, especially if it makes you starry eyed/foam at the mouth/react like a dog destroying a chewtoy.

Hi there lovely people!

My name is Lovísa and I have epilepsy.

I have hit a point in my health where my neurologist is no longer comfortable with me not having a lifeline of sorts, and moving in with family or friends and having someone constantly around and with me is sadly just not an option.

So after a lot of deliberation with my doctors and the appropriate organization and their people, we have decided an assistance dog is the best option for me.

The work that goes towards getting an assistance dog in Iceland is an incredibly expensive, strict and long process, and it is taxing but so worth it in cases like this.

I am personally disabled and completely unable to work due to my illnesses, and am on disability. Therefore it is absolutely impossible for me to fund this assistance dog on my own if i want to do it within the next 10 years. So i am reaching out for support, no matter what form that support is (financial, advice regarding assistance dogs or training, a share, an encouraging comment, anything!). Any and all support is welcome! ❤️

Crowdfunding is a sore subject because asking for help is so incredibly difficult. But after talking with friends and family I see I need to recognize its okay to need help sometimes. This will be my second attempt of an assistance dog but this time we are going through actual professionals and under better guidance and I have high hopes for this.

There is no magic number but training alone (base training and then training with the assistance dog trainer) will most likely be costing a minimum of 500000 ISK (approx 3500 USD) and that is excluding the cost of the dog itself and everything else the process entails. I will be paying for as much as I can myself but realistically I need help with this.

Coming to terms with my epilepsy has been an impossible process, since I was diagnosed as an adult absolutely out of nowhere. Having my life turned upside down and trying to adjust to this new reality of my epilepsy not being controlled anymore is hard and terrifying.

There are a lot of unknowns and having the reassurance of an assistance dog will help me immensely, both in keeping me safe if (when) something happens, giving my family peace of mind, and making me feel safer in this reality.

See, I love Izzy very much and would love to make an agere kit for him. However, I am admittedly more of a "shake him in a jar" type of fan than a "wrap him up in a blanket" type of fan, and I think this is contributing to my struggles in coming up with things that would properly suit regressed!Izzy

So if anyone out there has suggestions for anything (toys, games, self-care tools, etc) that either he would enjoy or you think would greatly benefit him, I would love to hear it!!

Sorry for the long silence, it’s been hard to make this post with the state of my old laptop. It’s been a long road, but we’re finally doing alright! We recovered from covid, got jobs, and now everyone has moved out of the house we were in. I can’t thank those of you who helped out by commissioning, donating, and reblogging enough. While I am closing all commissions for now (I’m getting a desktop computer I can draw on in soon), my regular-priced commissions will make a return this year! I still have a few emergency commissions to post (including a big one for my bf that I’m still finishing, bless him for his patience) but otherwise am over this hurdle. I’ll keep this as short as possible: I just recovered from covid, but (although it doesn’t seem any of them caught it from me) the vast majority of my household now also tested positive. My mom has MS and couldn’t work even beforehand, and my brother is the only one with any sort of reliable income at the moment. I have a job interview in a few days, but our bills are past due and utilities could shut off at any time. A room in our basement flooded with sewage and contractors have been in and out of the house basically ripping up the whole basement... it’s just been a lot.

This morning our car got t-boned in an intersection and no longer goes. This also means that our secondary (read: should always have been primary) source of income is gone, as well as our main access to groceries. I am still unemployed and waiting to hear back from a couple of jobs, but am practically helpless from my end. A lot has happened over the past month, including another covid case, but now a few of us are employed (though I won’t actually be working for another week or two). Laptop died. Charging port broke so it won't charge anymore, took it in n they said it's a motherboard issue so instead of 200 dollars to fix it, it would cost 1500 just to replace the part w out adding cost of labor to it.

S o that isn't happening at all. So it's dead had my brother's desktop for a day or two, but it Took a shit on me too- won't stop turning off and on, brother said it's a power source problem in the PC.

Said he'd try to get it taken in somewhere n see if it's fixable. But that won't be for a while.

So yeah, this blog is on an indefinite hiatus. Idk when or if I'll be able to get a new laptop, so yeah.

wait. wait. wait. ive been staring at ur latest comic for awhile now and i think i've noticed something about the colors? which are amazing, first of all- just gotta get that out there cuz i adore that soft pink and deep green combo

but i just realized that throughout most of the comic u use both in equal parts it seems. to separate bg + fg and such, to highlight characters/objects, etc.

but then when vash gets back to their room, all the walls are that dark green. and, bit by bit, the pink totally falls off. by the end, it's nothing but constant dark green as vash starts to cry

but then wolfwood slams in and he's backed by that soft pink. and suddenly the comic is nothing BUT pink. soft lines and whites and gentle pink tones EVERYWHERE to just. SO tastefully highlight the little details.

LIKE. WAS THIS INTENTIONAL?! i almost wanna guess that it wasn't since all those green panels w vash crying are all closeups focused on his expression so it makes sense to just put the simple green behind it and all attention on him so the pink just isn't Needed

BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE EFFECT IS SO MASTERFUL THAT I WANNA BELIEVE IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INTENTIONAL

HEHE..... first of all, thank you for looking at my comic so closely, THAT'S LIKE... REALLY SWEET and a huge compliment to hear, thank u thank u

and yes, it was intentional, especially more towards the end!!! in general, the colors are meant to serve as a mood indicator, so a balance of them in a scene would just mean a neutral "okay-ness" and have a functional serve to separate background / foreground / subject matter... deep green signifies introspection or incoming sadness (especially on pg5 when vash cries), and pink signifies wolfwood, which, not an emotion but he is happiness, someone that helps vash lose his doubts in a matter of seconds -- which is why those last few pages are just pink white and lines, and the panels are gone for the majority of it. i wanted to show their unity and togetherness!

while vash still has his issues of just Not saying anything about his loneliness, his feelings are alleviated temporarily with wolfwood's presence and he's just grateful that his paranoia didn't become true, and that wolfwood is genuine, true to his word, when he means he'll be following vash/staying with him. even though it's mission-bound, vash would probably still feel guiltily comforted by that fact.

I'M GLAD IT WAS PARTICULARLY EFFECTIVE IN THIS COMIC because i definitely could've pushed it more... i figured it was a minor thing that not a lot of ppl would care for, but more ppl enjoyed it and noticed the colors than i thought, so i'm glad it worked out!!!

Hello bionicle community. Thanks to everyone for voting in my poll earlier today and special thanks to everyone who pointed out the fact that they have adaptive armor, a fact I did not know bc I have not finished bionicle but damn that’s genius. I have decided to make new designs for their adaptive armor but there’s one tiny problem with this…. Idk how to design bionicles.

So if you know how to design these silly little guys please give me some tips. I don’t have like any bionicle parts at my disposal so I’m not sure how to approach this really. And maybe I should’ve thought this through before I decided to make new designs but idc I’m committed now I will learn the skill of designing bionicles
