Ok, so not like it wasn't already clear why Cody was pissed at Hijack, but I just realised the whole "gaining control over Jeff's body without his consent to hurt somebody as a misguided way to help Jeff but really to fulfill Hijack's plan" must have hit reaaally close to home. You see, there is this psychological phenomenon called projecten-
HELLO ANON I NEED YOU TO KNOW THAT SEEING THIS ASK LITERALLY MADE ME WANT TO START EATING CONCRETE /POS
THIS RESPONSE IS GOING TO BE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND WAY TOO LONG SO SORRY IN ADVANCE <3
And you are so right!!!!!! Like obviously, Cody would’ve gotten mad about Hijack targeting his best friend no matter what his ability was, but the fact that he literally took control over his body and forced him to do things he never would’ve done on his own definitely hit close to home. I thought there was no way his dad’s ability to literally take away his free will didn’t mess with Cody’s head since I’ve first read his and Davy’s chapter 5 argument, but these last 3 updates really showed the extent of his father’s abuse on his psyche and I personally have been LOVING going back and rereading Cody’s previous appearances with all of this new context in mind. And like even without the fact that Cody literally can’t disobey his father’s commands, Cody is very much someone who has never been allowed to show any kind of individuality. There are so many little ways in which Davy takes away Cody’s autonomy and disregards his personhood.
It drives me crazyyyyy. Davy in general is the kind of person who is far too egotistical and self-absorbed to ever really think about people beyond the role he assigned them to, all he sees is how they relate to him. And no one knows that better than Cody! Because there is no one Davy desires to control more than Cody. Remember chapter 8 page 1? The one thing that finally made Davy’s mask slip, the one thing that actually got to him was Max saying that Cody is nothing like him. Davy was pissed that someone dared to imply that Cody was anything but his miniature copy. Cody is literally not allowed to have any privacy, to have anything beyond what his father wants for him. He can’t even get out of the house on his own (and hearing him say he has guards was soooo vindicating I knew i had a good reason to pay so much attention to “something about strict orders not to mention it to Davy’s son when on protective detail” from chapter 7 page 62), he’s not allowed to carry his own money, he literally owns a copy of Davy’s signature gray pinstripe suit, hell even his hair looks So Much like his dad’s (ESPECIALLY when he was younger) there’s no way that isn’t a dad approved haircut. He doesn’t even have any privacy in his own body because his dad can literally feel his heartbeat (and the fact that’s not something Cody himself can’t do, that this happened when Cody was so young he doesn’t even remember ever feeling it is so. Oh Davy Jones there is a special place in hell with your name on it).
His room doesn’t even have a window. And I know this is the vampire house, but the fact that we learned this information in the same sentence where his room was described as having “no single such escape route” and now with the added context that he wants to run away from home is making this information very upsetting to me. So yeah, Hijack’s power is definitely a sore spot for Cody and it’s why I’m so happy we finally got to see these two (or well. three) interact!!!! And it’s everything I ever wanted and so much more. And I looooove that despise this mostly friendly demeanor Cody made it very clear that he’s still mad about what happened with Jeff and that he very much does not consider Hijack to be his friend (“So thanks for not being one, I guess!”). And that the one time Cody came off as genuinely threatening and malicious was when Right Hijack refused to leave (the right side of) his body (I have soooo many thoughts about that scene btw. And about Cody’s overall opinion of himself and his morality I have thought about this often and elaborately).
But even then, Cody did seem to be more outwardly angry about Hijack doing this to Jeff then him. Cody is on some level used to this. He doesn’t accept it, he’s not resigned to his fate as evidenced by him wanting to run away from home but this has been his life for the past 12 years, but it probably hurt so much to see someone he loves going through something he’s so familiar with. Especially when you consider that Cody, much like Davy (though obviously not to such an unhealthy degree), is very protective of the people he cares about and seems to have a strong desire to be in control (possibly stemming from the complete lack of control he has over his own life?). Sorry, I know I’ve been rambling but I love talking about pnat and especially Cody <3

hey i recently found your work and love your writing. Can you write something about a supervillain dad and a hero son??
“Hands up,” the super villain motioned with his gun, face impassive. The hero swallowed as he complied.
“You won’t shoot me,” the hero said, but it was too hesitant to come out as confident as he wanted it to.
His dad raised a brow. “Won’t I?”
The hero sucked in a breath. Held it in for three. Out for three.
“Do it, then.” He was proud of how steady his voice was. “Shoot your only kid.”
“You say that like being my child means something.”
“If it didn’t, I’d be dead already, dad.”
His father’s face was weary, but the gun didn’t lower.
“I’ve let you have your heroics. I’ve been very generous, actually. Do you know how many plans you’ve fucked up? Plans I gave permission for?” The hero didn’t respond. “It ends, now.”
The hero steeled himself.
“No.”
His dad lowered the gun, but he suspected it was more out of surprise than anything else.
“No?”
“No,” the hero repeated more firmly. “You heard me. I know you did.”
“I heard you,” his dad agreed. “I was giving you the chance to change your answer.”
The hero grit his jaw, shoulders set.
“It won’t change.”
His father sighed, rubbing a hand over his brow.
“Why must you make things so difficult?”
“I’m sorry my morals are getting in the way of your hobbies,” he snarled. “Here, let me move out of the way of your most recent murder attempt.”
“Don’t take that tone with me,” his father snapped. “Have you forgotten that you’re my most recent murder attempt?”
“How could I?” He scoffed. “Kind of hard to ignore my father’s attempts on my life.”
“And yet you still insist on playing hero—”
“Because it is the right thing to do,” the hero interrupted, hands clenched. “And I will never stop trying to do the right thing so long as you are doing all the wrong ones.”
His father looked like he didn’t have a clue what to say to that.
They sat in silence.
“Does family mean nothing to you?” His father said finally.
“Family is not an excuse for bloodlust.”
“Your mother—”
“Do not.” His gaze darkened, and his father shifted uncomfortably. “She is not a scapegoat for your actions.”
“She died—”
“And how many mothers have you killed trying to soothe the pain of her death?”
His father lowered the gun.
“I will not let my son continue to play hero. It is a sign of weakness, to have you out here undermining me. I won’t tolerate it.”
He realized, then, that there was only path out of this moment. There was one solution. One chance.
“Whoever you are, you are not my father.” The blow struck true. His father flinched. “And if that’s the case, if the choice is being your son or being a hero, then here’s your answer.”
Power began to crackle up his arms, reflected in his father eyes.
“It’s a shame, dad,” the hero said, eyes glinting. “You lost your only son, and you didn’t even have to kill him to do it.”
The supervillain paused, for a second, just one, pain flashing across his face, before he raised the gun once more.
This time, the supervillain didn’t hesitate before he fired. Didn’t bother to watch if the hero got out of the way in time.
The supervillain would never kill his son.
But if his son—the hero. But if the hero had decided he would rather be dead than family?
Well, who was the supervillain to deny him that?

The Armand/Daniel throwaway is insane because while I don’t see it as canon, (and I don’t think it’s meant to be taken as such), I do believe it makes their lore a lot richer and more poignant. Anne hit gold with them man, she really did. And in a way we’re pretty lucky. We got the best chapter OF ALL TIME written about them, followed by the weirdest, messiest breakup plans that never came to fruition, followed by a few one liners about them getting back together. Who knows what would’ve happened if she had decided to flesh out their story further and I’m scared to consider the possibilities. We know what we need to know and now the world is ours 😌
Yeah, it's not meant to be canon. Canon is anything published in the text itself. Anything else (notes, drafts) are things Anne chose not to include for whatever reason and while it can help us all inform the text if we so choose, she as a writer decided against using these in the final versions. It sure is fun though!!
AND YES IT IS INSANE!! Because even though I agree some of the dialogue does not sound like Daniel or anything he would say, their dynamic is there!! That is THEM. It's weird and it's messed up but you totally get shades of them in those notes and maybe a finished, polished version would have really done them justice. We will never know!
But you're right! We are so lucky. She really hit lightning in a bottle with Armand/Daniel. It's such a great story, they are such fascinating characters, and Devil's Minion is such a wild chapter. Their parts in QotD really tell us so much about them and how they interact and what they love about each other, even though it's so few pages.
It will always break my heart a little that Daniel was tossed aside in the final trilogy. I get that he wasn't really part of the story she was trying to tell, and that's why he gets a line here or there about being with Armand, but is otherwise not mentioned after Prince Lestat, but wow, I would have loved to see Daniel there to comfort Armand after Marius calls him a child or he bears his soul to Lestat, or any of that stuff. And of course I would have loved an actual reunion chapter beyond just "they're out hunting together." (Of course I think we got the same thing with Marius and Armand in the QotD... 😒😒)
But--and I've said this before--part of why I was scared to read the final books was a deep-seated fear that she was going to kill Daniel off. It felt like she had no use for him and I was terrified for his safety. So even though we only get a few lines about him being back with Armand, we know they've reconnected, and honestly, that's more than I had hoped for.
And the playground is ours now, absolutely! I've loved seeing how other people flesh out this stuff in fics and headcanons and art, and I love doing it myself. So while I regret the lack of Daniel in the rest of the series, there's so much potential for stories to tell, and this fandom has really stepped up to the plate on that score. 💖

hold up, daeran's galfrey's ONLY heir? that makes me love his carefree attitude and dislike for nobles so much more.
Hehe yes, he is the closest thing she has in terms of a blood-related heir. They both are each other's only alive family members. This makes their relationship so interesting and sad and the behavior of both of them a little bitter. She was all he had left when his family died. But I feel she stopped being there for him at a certain point. Maybe he was not what she had hoped for. More likely, she was just too busy, and teenage Daeran would have needed more support and attention than she could give him in her position as the queen. And he felt left alone, once more. With her extended lifespan, the question of an heir was not overly urgent. And I assume Daeran is the last one she wants to see on the throne. While the last thing Daeran wants is to be on the throne. It's a bit of a pity. During the game there are many moments where he shows that he is quite a capable diplomat with a talent for politics, despite his dislike for nobles (or, tbh, because of it or since he still has a high understanding of their way of thinking). Especially in times of peace and with a bit of guidance, he would become a great king. And I'm happy that there are certain ending slides that hint that Daeran may indeed inherit the throne. Galfrey completely fell for his eager attempts to make others only see the worst in him and probably never even tried to look behind the lies in it. In her defense, the way he acts towards her especially appears to be even worse than toward others. - Probably out of the aforementioned bitterness and a mess of emotions: disappointment, the yearning for a family, this little crush on her that most likely is the echo of a cry for her attention in general mixed with the fact that sexuality seems to be his only easy outlet when he doesn't want to think about deeper feelings of any sort ... Ah, it's a lot. And one of my favorite relationships in the game. They both are highly interesting.

To be fair your interpretations could also be misinterpretations. I don't mean this in a mean way, I mean this honestly in an I agree with you way, but I feel like you're also not applying your own advice to yourself. Because you say everyone else is going to be disappointed, while also implying you wont be because you're going in with the confident assumption your theories are fitting with the outcome? But what if you're wrong? Would you also be bitter like you're saying the people who disagree with you are going to be, because it didn't go out the way you expected? Personally I don't agree with most bylers on every single thing, like random touches or grazes back in early seasons type of evidence is reaching to me, but I wont admit that because I know it will get me eaten alive. However, I think when it comes to scenes in season 4, there are so many meanings being hidden into each scene, and there's also layers to it, meaning that there can be multiple meanings. Meaning there could be certain things both sides are partially right about. Honestly it doesn't matter what conclusion any of us come to, we're all sitting here thinking we're right. Which means any one of us, on any side fixating on how right we are and how everyone that disagrees with us is setting themselves up for disappointment, is also putting themself at risk of being disappointed as well. All we're doing is doubling down and making the possibility of being wrong that much more awkward. And this is coming from someone who is prepared to be wrong about everything! But I do understand your frustration with not being able to talk about things, without a bunch of people acting like there is an agreed upon consensus for how to interpret that scene and we're not aloud to expand on it with other ideas. For now it's still all up in the air. Anyone ill-prepared to be wrong about stuff that isn't even confirmed, is setting themselves up for disappointment on both sides.
Oh I definitely apply it to myself, I don't think I'll ever have the same interpretations as the Duffers or any of the producers. I've been wrong about Stranger Things over and over and over again, so at this point I'm only certain about a handful of things. I'm trying to lean away from being so 1000% about any of my theories like I was in the past (expect birthdaygate that dies with me), and mostly keep my s5 predictions to things that are heavily foreshadowed to happen, or at least not take them as seriously. Keeping such a tight grip on theories and characterizations only left me feeling disappointed and empty.
Everyone watches the show through their own lens of perception. No two people will ever see it the same way, and no one person will probably ever see the whole show the way the Duffers intended. It's my opinion that people on the far sides of the spectrum have their perception heavily warped by ships and personal desires, and are much more likely to misinterpret scenes. People in the middle tend to have a better grip on the show and its implications.
And yeah, there are some scenes that can have multiple meanings and there isn't a right way to interpret them. But I also believe ST is very character-oriented, and they have the characters say/do things for a particular reason that they want us to understand. They've talked a lot about "leaving no loose ends" which implies they write the characters with certain intentions of why they act the way they do. So technically there is a 'correct way' to interpret them, but I also don't think you have to interpret them the same way as the writers, or anyone else for that matter. And I also don't think the Duffers expect or want you to interpret the show in the same way they do.
But since the show is still ongoing and s5 will probably answer a lot of our questions and thoroughly address/explain the characters' conflicts, I think it's good to keep an open mind right now. I love trying to piece together my favorite characters, and I know a lot of other people do as well, and there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone can and should have their own take on the show and its meaning. But I strongly agree that people are setting themselves up for disappointment when they refuse to listen to any differing opinions and are stuck in the "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality. I do think there is a small possibility of Mike being gay, and I certainly wouldn't hate it if he was, but nobody's going to know until s5.
At the end of the day, we're all just people. We're opinionated, narcissistic, and always want to be right. I'd be lying if I said wasn't any of those things. But as long as we all still love the show in the end, I think we'll be alright.

I’d love to hear your thoughts (as well as any predictions for the next season with them running the new restaurant as partners) regarding Carmy and Sydney’s dynamic in the show?
You mean I need to have thoughts beyond the fact that they deserve to have equally fuck-nasty and heartfelt sex even though it’s definitely a bad idea to sleep with your business partner, Anon??
Joking aside, their dynamic is lovely. It’s probably my favourite one on the show, which really is saying something when there’s so many good ones.
Honestly, I think a lot of it is in the eyes. Both Ayo and Jeremy have wonderfully expressive eyes and that does much of the heavy lifting. The way she’s so aware of him and his reactions to her work all the time and the way he stares at her so tenderly when she isn’t looking at him. They really see each other, instant connection.
Like, come on, can’t help but be obsessed!
I love how they’re extremely similar in their drive and ambition and what they want for their restaurant, and yet entirely different as well, which I think is very much shaped by their experiences in the industry. While they’re both shell shocked because of their journeys, Carmy tried and succeeded and Sydney tried and failed – she’s got something to prove, he doesn’t. At least not professionally.
I love how Carmy validates her skill and her talent at (almost) every step of the way in a way, but that he also tells her when she’s moving too fast, when her inexperience gets the better of her.  And I love how Sydney does not just let him steam roll over her, she knows her skill level and her worth and she is gonna stand her ground because of that. I think there’s real potential for them to both balance out each other’s worst impulses and buff up each other’s best sides going forward.
And piggy-backing off of that, Sydney doesn’t come back because the writers try to make her act the saviour to him. She comes back because of their shared dream, when they’re both ready to become equal partners in a new venture. Love that.
As for predictions, I don’t have that many actually, season 1 took so many delightful twists and turns that I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be happy with the direction the writers are gonna take things.
But I have really high hopes for the way they’re going to explore the challenges that comes with professional partnership when their dreams for the place – despite how similar it is for the most part – are inevitably gonna collide.
And of course I do hope they’re gonna give us the most delicious, torturous slow burn romance. Because as much as I enjoy the idea of them hooking up, I want the show runners to drag out the tension until I absolutely cannot stand it and wanna bury my face into my pillows and scream. Because they still have much more growth as people to get through before they can get to a romantic relationship.
They both eat Marcus’ floor donut, do we really need any other proof that they’re made for each other?!

I think you're onto something with your post and imo the actual reason why he works better as an ally than an antagonist isn't the position in the story itself but the writers' different approach to the character. usually when comic book writers write a villain they will write them so that they are feared and hated by the audience, with some sympathy strewn in in some cases, so that the audience knows they're a threat. The problem in the Riddler's case is that if writers do that he'll usually end up as one of 2 options: a genuine 'mysterious mastermind' villain who to work as a threat has to be calm and serious, which strips him of the emotionally unstable playfulness that's usually one of his core characteristics, or an unstable sadistic maniac serial killer or terrorist, which either ends up making him just 'joker but with the color scheme flipped' or ends up making him appear as a violent whiny man child who thinks he's smart but is really a pathetic idiot, all three of which aren't perfect options (although I don't mind the occasional iteration being the first type). But when he poses as an ally the writers don't have to get the readers to hate him, so the writing can make him weird and playful without making him seem pathetic and incompetent. And I think that's an approach they haven't really tried for riddler as an antagonist yet: making him a proper villain or threat without trying to make the audience hate him. You know, one of those villains you just can't truly hate. How would that work? Well I think making him mainly a high stakes thief that steals important artifacts or museum pieces that really have to be found again and can only be found by Batman due to riddler being basically untraceable by anyone that can't solve his elaborate clues would work. throw in some network takeovers and hostage situations, some of them grand game show style scenarios to get in his full showman deal. have him be generally not very violent or sadistic but make sure to show that if he wanted to he could be terrifying, maybe by letting him have his occasional big temper tantrum so that it's clear that should he ever snap he'd be extremely dangerous. Let him loose his cool just for a second and backhand a hostage with his cane before snapping right back into his regular fun persona as if nothing happened. Let him make death threats where it's never really clear if he'd go through with them or not, because so far he's never made these threats reality but what if one day he does? This approach I think would give you both the full playful eccentricity and 'little guy'-ness while also allowing for an undercurrent of unease that never really has to be cashed in but is enough to make sure the audience knows he is or could be a genuine threat, without making him too serious, too pathetic or too 'joker'. and additionally it would make him 'harmless' enough that him playing occasional ally via helping Batman with a case doesn't feel ooc, while also making him dangerous enough that his classification as a proper villain is validated. because you're right about the 'consultant' storylines being the most fun ones for the character, but for them to work properly imo he needs to be well established as a villain first or else he'd come across as too much of a regular sidekick.
Ok first off let me just say that I am grateful and delighted that someone read through that whole long post and then even went so far as to give me a big long response, and I have read over this ask several times with joy. So thank you.
You know what? Now that you've said it, I think I agree with you that part of the fun of Riddler being an ally sometimes is that he's still the Riddler, and the inherent, "What is he doing here?"ness of it, and maybe if he became more usual ally than occasional ally, that special sauce wouldn't hit right, and he'd wither into sideshow informant with a quirk. It's a possible regression and a risk I hadn't considered.
I was thinking if he became more permanent as an ally, though, he could be one of those, "I'm on my own side," characters, you know? Maybe like how you can't be too shocked when John Constantine double crosses you. Hm, but that could have its own problems... It's a riddle.
Honestly, reading through your suggestion for how to use him as a villain, I started like thinking up little ideas based on yours. Like when you said he'd steal priceless artifacts, I was thinking, "Unless the artifacts or the robbery itself pose a danger to civilians, Bats might put it on the back-burner and piss him off..." but then you mentioned, "network takeovers and hostage situations, some of them grand game show style scenarios," and I thought, "What if he steals missile codes and makes a puzzle race with it as the prize?"
(With the endless amount of Batman IP content, this has probably already been done before somewhere some time but-) I'm thinking he has the codes on a drive, and he invites "Batman +2" and a few mercenary and thief type villains to compete to get to it. Now Batman doesn't think Riddler would ever use those codes, but he knows some of the others might and if not would definitely sell it to a bidder who would. So now everyone's stuck doing riddles and escape room bullshit again while Riddler hams it up.
At some point, a villain contestant, someone like Deathstroke, just brute forces and tries to get the drop on the Riddler in person and demand the codes, and he's just like, "Hey, you can't do that. No, don't hurt me, I'm just a little guy :( Oh ow why is it always the stabbing and the nose with you people? Time for the anti-cheating software :(" and presses a button on his cane, and we just don't see Deathstroke after that. (He's alive, ofc, but this is not shown.)
At the end of the story, once Batman and two sidekicks of his choice have bested the game and beaten up several other villains inside, Riddler (still covered in dried blood) graciously hands over the flash drive and assures him he made no copies.
Then he's like, "Don't look mad -" upon being immediately grabbed by the collar, "There was never any real danger."
And the group is like, "What do you mean? These aren't fake."
And Riddler's like, "Of course they're not fake. But I always believed you would win. <3"
And Steph!Robin is like, "I'm going to kill him. Can I kill him?"
And Batman says, "No."
And Stephanie says, "I'm gonna."

Hi anon! Thanks for the ask and for playing! 😊
This very short snippet is from a Black Clover wip. (Since I've been writing a lot of/mostly Black Clover fics I made an educated guess that that's what you wanted 😅, but I do have wips for fics from other fandoms so if you were hoping for something different please feel free to send in another ask that says which one 😊):
“Noelle! Noelle! Wanna fight?” Luck practically bounced up and down around her. Noelle sighed. With Magna gone for the past week and no one left in the hideout who was brave or stupid enough to fight him, Luck had been a restless and overexcited tornado of energy. When Vanessa and Finral’s attempts to distract Luck with various shiny things had stopped working, the Captain had sent him out to train in the woods. He must’ve returned with—Noelle sighed—just as much energy as before he had left.

💡 and 👀 for the wip emoji ask?
Thank you so much for asking, dear anon!! This was fun.
💡 What inspired you to want to write it?
I was on a walk/short hike in an area I hadn't explored before, and I encountered some old, fenced-off, obviously abandoned buildings that seemed very mysterious. Naturally, I started thinking about ghosts and hauntings. I saw this Tumblr post right around that time, which also got me thinking about ghost AUs. After a period of contemplation and letting the ideas settle, my modern with magic Geraskier AU where Geralt is cursed to be a ghost was born!
👀 Can you give us any sneak peaks?
Absolutely!! Here's some pining for you <3
~
“Yes. That would be…” Geralt trailed off and swallowed. “Thank you. For doing this. It means… a lot.”
Jaskier desperately wanted to take Geralt’s hand and squeeze it gently, to offer the balm of some sort of touch. It was not the first time he had longed to touch Geralt. He wanted to pat his shoulder and to elbow him. He wanted to jokingly shove him when he made a bad joke. He wanted to hold his hand. Sometimes, in the dark hours of the night when Jaskier was alone, he wanted nothing more than to be able to hug Geralt, to hold him close, to be so closely intertwined that they could not tell where one ended and the other began.
He wanted, so badly that it ached sometimes, but there was nothing he could do about it. Geralt was a ghost. Jaskier was not. All they could do was look at each other.
So Jaskier looked. He gave Geralt the most encouraging smile he could manage, stood up, and did his best to seem confident.
“Of course. Don’t worry, Geralt. I’ll bring you your sorceress.”
Geralt nodded. Jaskier smiled again, bid him farewell, and set off.
Jaskier couldn’t do much, but he could do this. This was something. He would try his hardest to do it well.
~
From this ask game!
She was obviously Yennefer — if Jaskier hadn’t recognized her from the picture on the web site, he could have deduced it from the way everything about her screamed that she could and would kill him with a glance. She was even more terrifyingly beautiful in person than she had been in the photograph. She was so scary that it was almost absurd.
Jaskier took a deep breath, buried his terror and common sense into the depths of his subconscious where they belonged, and summoned a blinding grin.
“Hello, good madam! My name is Jaskier and I am here on a matter of some importance. Could I trouble you for a moment of your time?”
He stuck out his hand for her to shake. She looked at it with withering disdain. He withdrew his hand.
“No,” she said, and began to close the door.
“Hey, wait!” Jaskier yelped. He stuck his foot in the door and yelped again when she tried to close it anyway. Her glare was so potent that he was surprised he hadn’t already melted from the force of it. “It really is important!”
“I fail to see how anything you have to say could be remotely interesting to me.”
She opened the door again, kicked his foot out of the way, and started to close it again. Jaskier, seized the door’s handle and tugging it back open, gaining himself one more moment to speak.
“It’s about Geralt!” he shouted.
Yennefer froze.
“How do you know that name?” the irritation was gone from her voice, replaced by an icy calm that Jaskier didn’t like at all.
“Let me in and I’ll tell you.”
“Answer the question.”
“He told it to me himself.”
“Geralt is dead.”
“He also wants me to tell you he’s still angry about the time you tried to enchant something called Roach into liking you, and I hope you understand what that means because I certainly don’t and if he was just messing with me I will kill him all over again.”
Yennefer stared at him for a very long moment, her expression unreadable. Jaskier shifted awkwardly and hoped that he was not going to be transfigured into a newt.
“What else did he say?” she asked. Jaskier would not have noticed without weeks of experience reading Geralt’s subtle expressions and tones, but her voice was more unsteady than he’d thought possible.
“He said that he’s still here, he’s cursed, and he misses you.”
“That’s all?”
“He’s not particularly verbose.”
Yennefer closed her eyes and let out a slightly shaky breath. “I suppose you’d better come inside.

88?
88. What are you scared of?
oh boy, is this like an existential question or just in general?
I'm scared of becoming someone I don't know anymore. That person who doesn't care about growing as an individual, neglects self care practices, and is just a bitter and angry person. sigh, I'm scared of becoming someone I hate.
other than that, I'm scared of rats, snakes, and ghosts
UPDATE BECAUSE MY BROTHER JUST SNAP CHATTED MY WORST FEAR EVER THAT I THOUGHT I HAD SUPPRESSED.
CLOWNS. I fucking hate clowns 😭😭
care to ask me 100 questions? just kidding, a few or one is just fine.

hey! thanks for making this blog, it's so cool!!
just out of interest, what are your thoughts on whump? i know you make some awesome angst hcs for hero, so i started wondering :)
Aww thank you so much, Anon! It really means a lot to us to hear that you like our blog! 😊 We really appreciate all of your kind words and your ask. 💙
We will admit that despite running a blog called "Hero Deserves To Be Happy," we do revel in some Hero angst every now and again and will occasionally (emotionally) torment him in our headcanons and writings (A/N: Thank you for your compliments on our Hero angst hcs, by the way. You're very kind), but as a general rule, we both tend to prefer hurt/comfort rather than pure angst, especially of the whump variety. We have read and enjoyed a few whump fics here and there and have nothing against whump as long as it's properly tagged with warnings when appropriate. However, it's not something either of us have ever really sought out specifically and/or created ourselves.
All of that said, we can definitely see how Hero's character might lend himself to whump. Poor Hero has been through a lot. In many ways, Hero angst is absolutely warranted, and it's almost like the canon itself is "Hero whump" at times. We feel strongly that it would be a disservice to him as a character to ignore or shy away from his internal turmoil and the grief and suffering he has experienced in his life, but ultimately, it is difficult for us, personally, to leave him in that sad and despairing place so we try to let him have a least a little peace, comfort, and/or hopefulness in the end of what we create. Obviously, an angst specific headcanon doesn't allow for that and that's okay. To be honest, we have many Hero angst headcanons between the two of us, but it would be difficult for us to write something lengthy and involved (like a whole story, for instance) that didn't at least end on a more hopeful note, if it wasn't full hurt/comfort to begin with. We like to think that no matter how angsty we might get when it comes to Hero, it's always accompanied by at least the hope (whether spoken or unspoken) that there is something good out there for him on the other side of all that pain and suffering, which is one of the main reasons we tend to lean more hurt/comfort with our more angsty content whenever we can.
In terms of what whether we would be willing to write whump or not, it really depends on the type of whump, as it is our understanding that it is a very broad genre. Most emotional whump would probably be fine, especially given the context of Hero's life and everything he has been through in the canon (plus, it's probably a bit too obvious from our "When Sun Shines Again" series that we have absolutely no problem sending Hero through the emotional wringer 😅). Physical injuries or illnesses would depend on the circumstances but would most likely be okay as long as they wouldn't need to be described in gory detail. However, we wouldn't really be comfortable writing torture of any kind or anything that would require ultra-specific and/or gory details. As with our other requests, we would have to respectfully ask for the right to politely decline any whump request that made one or both of us uncomfortable, but if there's something specific you want to ask for angsty headcanon about, please feel free to send it in and we would be happy to write it for you.
We hope this answered your question. If you ever have any other questions for us, please feel free to ask. We love getting to talk to people, and our ask box is always open so please drop by any time. Thank you so much and please take care of yourself--it's what Hero would want! 💙
