Summary: Hc's/scenario of when Scaramouche finds out you're on your period. Well. You explained it to him.

A/n: sorry for the wait nonnie!! But thank you for being patient ahhhhhh... Thank you for this <33 periods suck ass, good luck to those who r on it !!!! Yeesh... starting to get back into writing, hi 🫶

In my opinion, this guy is most definitely confused at first. But once Scaramouche's got some of his questions answered, he's rather caring. As long as you don't plan on dying on him.

He's confused when he first sees the sight of you curled up, hands on your stomach. Probably asks you what you're trying to do, what's wrong with you until a few sudden thoughts occur.

You're in pain. . . ? You're in pain.

Then he's next to you in an instant, eyes darting all over you. He's asking you what's wrong again, what happened, are you dying??

He's worried, definitely. There's bits of annoyance, frustration too since, well.. for the love of the Archons, don't leave him right now.

But after maybe a few seconds, when you think you're well enough to finally respond, you speak to him. Scaramouche listens, some relief that you're.. fine..? Wait-

"..You're telling me you're bleeding— every month?"

He is still rather confused on that and so he tries to understand. Most of it. So you explain some things, cracking some jokes that the Gods must hate you if they're giving you cramps (which he does not find amusing)

You think you're done with the explanation, slightly apologizing for.. scaring him? Worrying him? And say you'll go to the bathroom for the obvious reasons.

He's still wrapping his mind around it. Decides to do more research on that, because he hates the sight of you clutching your stomach in pain.

Next day he's with you, demands you to tell him what you want. You're confused, because, well.. he can't make your period dissapear magically— so you just shrug, speaking with a nervous smile "A heating pad would be nice..? Chocolate..?"

Of course you'd say something like that. After all, he did use an hour or more of his time to figure out ways to help you. Later that day you're met with sweets that you desired (he didn't go after them, of course not. God forbid him buying sweets for you.. *buys the sweets*)

Would make tea for you. Either bitter how he likes it (if he knows you don't mind the taste) or sweet, if that's more to your liking. Despite not being keen on sugary, sweet things, he'll get it for you. If it helps.

He'll try to be nicer, since now he knows that when you're at that time of the month, you're a little different, sometimes more emotional. Doesn't entirely mean he'll drop his attitude or sassy remarks. You'll just hear a little less of them.

Probably finds out first if you've ran out of pads or tampons. You go to bed, making a mental note to go to the store tomorrow, yet when you wake up and go to the cabinet, you see the packages you needed to buy..

He doesn't admit he bought them for you. Probably says that you're forgetful, since you did say you're a little different on your period.

Scara hates seeing you like this. When you're having cramps, when you're in pain. So he hopes this will end soon.

I mean.. he's not alone since you're hoping the same!

It wasn't meant to be an argument. You understood her concern for your safety. But what possible grave danger could befall you if you went for groceries without one of her men tailing you? To her, apparently quite a bit.

It's not until you're tucked into bed that night, paths of tears long since dried, that you feel her weight compress the mattress behind you. She curls herself around you, one hand slipping beneath the band of your panties. Her fingers dip between your folds, tracing soft circles.

He stared at the painting you had given him in awe, wide eyed and cheek flushed as he stroked every detail of the piece, from his golden ornaments to his eyes..or the way his smile was painted, you never missed a single detail about him and..and..and god you were just so, so amazing

He's definitely quiet for a long time, but once he's out of his thoughts he immediately smiled, a small curve on his lips as his cheeks was painted with a lovely red, gazing at you with the most fondest look he's ever given.

Pulls you close to him as he mutters a quiet 'thank you', trailing kisses around your neck as he buries his flustered face in the crook of your neck, he loved you very much

He hung up the painting a little while after, admiring the little detail's you had painted on him.

"—ya hayati..Thank you..I really appreciate it," he mutters out, voice gentle as he trails a kiss on your forehead, chuckling at how flustered you were, too. "Love you.." He said, voice laced with fondness as he held you closer, feeling your warmth.

"-Say, (name), there's a feast later in Scarabia..Mind joining? I'll cook your favorite, alright?"

always one to have his emotions in check, zhongli can’t honestly pinpoint a moment in his life where he’s ever felt this… irked. until now, that is.

the poor man struggles to keep a straight face as he watches you interact with the little scaly creature scampering across your lap.

although time is insignificant to the former god, it feels as if it’s been years since you’ve last acknowledged his presence.

if you were paying more attention to him, he thinks, uncharacteristically sourly, you’d notice how his eyebrows crease and lips twitch as he fights to keep a growing frown at bay.

sharp eyes hone in on the way you coo at the small thing, your finger affectionately scratching the underside of its chin whilst your others smoothed over the scales on its back.

he also thinks the massive smile you have on should be directed towards him and not the offending lizard laying spoiled in your lap.

have you always been this fond of reptiles? how would you react, then, if you found out that he—

“who’s a good little dragon?!” suddenly comes your animated voice, cutting him out of his bitter reverie.

his ears perk up at your question, at the word dragon, but quickly finds that you’re still speaking to the small lizard.

right… for a the slightest fraction of a second he thinks you’re talking to him, but then it dawns on him that you haven’t the slightest clue of his identity just yet.

“yes you are! yes you are!” you squeal.

he exhales curtly- there’s no need to be upset. perhaps he ought to suggest that it’s time for your little friend to catch some rest in their cage. a fist goes up to cover his mouth as he coughs to gain your attention.

but you don’t look up at him. no, you’re still babying that scaly thing on your lap. he feels one eye twitch at your obliviousness. surely you weren’t ignoring him?

you’d never do that… right?

he tries again but clears his throat louder. thankfully you respond this time, but it took you a while to finally place your eyes on his amber ones. ah well, at least he has your attention now. a smile finally seeps it’s way onto zhongli’s face.

“it’s getting quite late, my dear. why don’t you put- ah, what was its name again…?” he trails off uncertainly, genuinely forgetting what to call the creature by.

you correct him in a tone much happier than he’d like. his eye twitches for the second time.

“arval!”

zhongli finds himself, yet again, struggling to maintain a calm facade. he’s about to continue his question, mouth open and ready to form the words, when you interrupt him with a pout.

“and don’t go around calling arval an ‘it’. arval is a he, i’ll have you know.”

zhongli opens and closes his mouth once, twice as if taken aback, before huffing. the man mutters a halfhearted apology if only to appease you. he certainly didn’t mean it genuinely.

“of course, my apologies. why don’t you put… arval,” the name feels odd in his mouth, uncomfortable. he almost wants to spit it out. “back in his enclosure?”

arval turns his attention away from you and onto zhongli at the call of his name, curiously tilting his head as if to scrutinise your boyfriend. the little creature burrows itself further into the crook of your elbow, relishing in the warmth of your arms that zhongli thought would be his and his alone.

and then it clicks.

the former prime of the adepti finds himself locked in a heated staring competition with your lizard friend, and it’s only at this does he realise why he feels so bothered.

arval’s colouring makes him appear uncannily similar to zhongli’s previous exuvia- scales as dark as chocolate, ridges the colour of warm yellow and a pair of striking, golden eyes.

yes; it feels as if he’s staring at a younger version of himself, at morax- the once headstrong and prideful adepti. well… it certainly seems like your friend is rather cocky, what with the way it leers at zhongli with a cheeky grin as if to say, “you wish you were me.”

the lizard wasn’t grinning, of course. lizards don’t smile- can’t smile. zhongli was grasping at straws and he knew he was, he’s no fool, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t at least try to justify his emotions.

you’re silent as you watch this interaction, wondering why the atmosphere suddenly became so tense, when you finally catch a good look at zhongli’s expression- at the subtle downturn of his thin lips. the obvious furrow in his fair brows.

it feels as if a lightbulb just flashed in your head.

a sly, knowing smile sneaks its way onto your visage and you slowly turn towards your lover seated next to you. he shifts uncomfortably.

zhongli has seen this look on your face one too many times and now dreads the fact that it’s directed towards him. his eyes look away, look at anything but you.

you’ve figured him out.

“zhongli…” you begin, and he can practically hear the mischief in your voice.

please don’t say it, he begs internally.

but you do anyway.

“are you…” there’s a drawl to your voice as if to prolong his torture. as if you enjoyed tormenting him so. he’s certain he looks flushed by now.

“jealous?”

…jealous.

the suggestion sinks deep into his conscience and solidifies the burning sensation in his cheeks.

zhongli has to stifle the ever-looming feeling of embarrassment from swallowing him whole. the notion was simply preposterous to the man. he does not feel jealous. he is not a jealous man.

or so he tells himself.

his silence speaks volumes to you and you can’t help but burst out laughing at your boyfriend.

“you—” you’re wheezing now, one hand clutching your stomach as the other gently cradles arval to prevent him from falling off your laughing form. “you can’t be serious!”

your boisterous laughter echoes off the four walls of your shared home, and your lover concludes that he’s never felt so ashamed of himself- never felt so sheepish. never wanted to lock himself in your bedroom and disappear into thin air so badly.

poor zhongli can only continue to face away from you as he slides one gloved hand down his face, groaning and trying his damnest to ease the now distinct flush on his rosy cheeks.

he stands abruptly so as to not have to deal with anymore of your teasing jests.

“…i shall go fetch his enclosure.”

First, I am honored I'm the first person you've felt comfortable enough to message and ask a question. So, thank you!! Secondly, your question is not insensitive or bad to ask! I wish I was more put together like other writers on tumblr where they had set dates for when they published their work. In all honesty, I write and once I edit it (the best that I can) I post it either the same day or the next day.

Sometime this week Chapter 7 will be posted. I've already started working on it (when I really should be working on my uni homework but, ya know, ADHD).

Hi, I don’t know if you’re still writing for how we break, but I was wondering if you could write a blurb or one shot about what it’d be like if reader ended up with nanami instead? and what if yuuji was their son (reader and nanami adopted him) and that’s how megumi and toji found reader again? anyway this was just a question so don’t feel pressured to write it or anything, have a nice day!

how we break was written at the time when i was soooo into gojo (aside from toji) but now??? it feels like nanami is my the one that got away 😭

he wouldve been such a good partner; such a good dad. the way reader would still move on slowly, but idk. with gojo, there was a whole lot of gojo distracting reader from her heartache. but i think with nanami, he’d let her embrace her heartache and be there for her when she, uh, breaks.

gonna scream actually, my mind is envisioning and restructuring the whole series rn 😭

but also i butchered the jjk universe to make that fic make sense :(( yuuji n megumi were childhood friends in some parts; yuujis parents are also alive (bc dear gods that boy deserves a happy life)!! so idk if itd make sense for nanami to adopt yuuji hhhhhd

okay here we go!

1) too many to count honestly. but fake dating is up up there. me and that tag are quite well acquainted at this point. I also really love childhood friends to lovers. something about the knowing each other through the good and bad, the "should we risk this beautiful friendship for something that not work" it's about the pining you see, the pining!!

2) I'm really not picky there! but if it's a longish story ~20k and more I'd probably prefer it to be multi chaptered. then again I know how tricky multi chapters can be so honestly, whatever works

3) no dialogue story for sure, I love the introspectiveness of it all. though I'm not totally opposed to an only dialogue story. it can be fun (though not a long one it can get old rather quickly)

4) yk I can't think of anything specific. lots of things make me happy in fanfic. and their absence isn't a big deal either

5) I have too many to count but I'll definitely take this opportunity to shout out some of my sambucky faves: bisamwilson, dharmainitiative, glittercake, livingincolors

6) rough surfaces by my dear friend @livingincolorsagain is a wonderful wonderful sambucky story that takes place right after their break up. it's a second chance romance sure, but it also takes a really great look at anxiety and Sam's internal struggles and mental health issues. and just, the love you thought would never die? was too strong and was going to survive whatever life threw at you? and the hopelessness of watching it die and wither, helpless to do anything about it. I really love her writing and how she writes all those characters with care and deep love. I can be found screaming about that story at any given moment btw

7) I have been reading some post-s1 good omens fic recently (still can't get myself to read post s2. the wound is too raw) and came across this very lovely story (Slow) in which Adam resets reality and makes a teany tiny assumptions about Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship status. I really loved how it was structured, idk what it's called but that sort of repeating the same sentence structure and offering a new piece of information, idk if that makes sense but yeah I love it. also it was really beautifully written, I love those pining fools
