Call me crazy but am I the only one seeing just how these two are eyeing each other? The amused eyes, the mix of hate and interest, the barely formed smirks that are still there? Someone tell me I'm not imagining it. Also all these sudden Tissaia/Fran posts are to blame - they got me seeing stuff that might not even be there in the first place.
Anyways, just imagine - the two most powerful sorceresses the Continent has ever seen (canonically the oldest two as well) hooking up. They'd be rulling the northern kingdoms in days.
These women had one episode together (still a mess about them not being close like in the books) and ZERO DIALOGUE yet the way they looked at each other, like in the photo above was PURE FIRE.
Forget Tissaia x Yennefer or Fringilla x Francesca, this here would have been the SHIT.. Also guess what? Tissaia was closer to Francesca in the books than she ever was to Yen / than Fran ever was to Fringilla so this isn't even that wild.
No one can convince me Tissaia didn't want a piece of that so she decided to kill Filavandrel cause honestly who needs him when she got the chance.
Also yes, this is my second weird ship after Emhyr x Francesca but screw it, it's too good not to think about. I hate these dumb breadcrumbs that will never pay off but it's nice to just fantasize.
Kinda headcanoning that these two were besties centuries ago but then the Brotherhood turned all anti-elven and Francesca got kicked out/left or something. And Tissaia replaced her with Philippa and then replaced Phil with Yennefer. Also, remember how Tissaia was all pro-elven in seasons 1 and 2? That right there is proof that this could've been something.
Anyways, now I'm done. Sry lol.

When you look at many of the comments, you get the impression that the writers should have dumbed down the story even a lot more for today's audience ...

Just finished watching part 1 and here are my initial thoughts:
YAY more YENRALT
YAY more family dynamics with Geralt - Yennefer - Ciri
YAY more family dynamics with Geralt - Yennefer - Ciri - AND UNCLE JASKIER!
OH Thank you Universe - the writers kept Philippa Lesbian.
Was...was that Mistle? Are we going to have Ciri's girlfriend introduced early?
Finally we are seeing intelligent spy Jaskier
Okay ngl I love how they handled Ciri's insecurity about who she is. She leans more on her witcher side but she's also a source and has magic.
Ngl Blake Edwards as Emhyr is hot.
Dijkstra shines in every scene he's in - I'm very amused by the BDSM dynamics he has with Philippa 😂👌
I'll have to admit I like how the Thanedd party scene was presented and how it resolved the sharded ice love triangle and it has to be one of my favorite episodes so far (I'm still waiting for part 2 to see if it will be THE favorite episode of Henry's last season)
Given that the next episode will finally be the Thanedd Coup I am SO ready for it. Nice cut between the first and second parts because after the Thanedd Coup everything DRASTICALLY get more exciting (although also bittersweet because it separates the main trio once again).

What if Coral survived to attend the Thanedd ball~ 🐠
*bows apologetically* I intended to post this fully colored but my physical health is still so-and-so. It will happen, but probably not in time for the event! Until then, I offer you the lineart! As always, free to color for those who wants to have a go :3 transparent png below the cut!

‘What are we going to be doing, Yen?’ ‘Circulating around the hall, greeting people, paying them compliments, engaging in conversation . . . Stop tugging your doublet and flattening your hair.’ ‘You wouldn’t let me wear a headband . . .’ ‘Your headband’s pretentious. Well then, take my arm and let’s go. Standing near the entrance is considered a faux pas.’

Musings on Tissaia & Francesca at Thanedd
Tumblr media
Just finished S3 and can I just say, these two badasses were the standouts of the Thanedd Coup for me.
The unspoken equality between them as Tissaia stands on one side with all the mages behind her and Francesca, the elven queen directly across from her with the Nilfgaardians and the elves.
The way they look at no one else but each other before it all goes to hell, each woman knowing that the other one is the largest danger and threat there - Tissaia representing the human mages of the new order and Francesca representing the ancient order of the times when elven mages built Aretuza.
Finally, the epic moment when Tissaia prepares a deadly spell to kill Francesca (when Tissaia was the very same woman insisting Francesca was not their enemy in S2 while Stregobor and the Brotherhood were losing their shit over the elven exodus to Cintra).
And then the moment it all climaxes in a tragic trade of sorts - Tissaia destroys what Francesca loves most (Filavandrel) in front of her very eyes, so Francesca destroys and burns down what Tissaia loves most (Aretuza). All the other sorceresses - Rita, Sabrina, Keira, Triss, Fringilla, Marti, even Yennefer - are secondary to these two ladies in that moment - truly hell hath no fury like a sorceress scorned for these two proved it then and there.
And then, once Aretuza is in flames thanks to Francesca, how Tissaia falls into a numb state of sorts - she climbs the tower to resort to the most dangerous and life-draining spell known to mankind to destroy the elven invaders she once defended. This spell destroys everyone and everything - all the northern mages flee out of the way - only Francesca (and Fringilla) stays to fend off the lightning. Finally, when Tissaia can no longer keep up, the moment is perfect when all the northern sorceresses step in front of Francesca, making it clear she will not get to Tissaia so long as they live.
Ultimately, all the sorcerers were good - Rita who stayed there from start to end and defended Tissaia - Marti and Sabrina who destroyed people left and right and Bianca, Tissaia’s poor friend. But Tissaia and Francesca’s magic was by far the most epic of the entire battle. The absolute sheer destruction was amazing to watch. And the way they clearly targetted each other throughout the battle was perfect.
You know what the saddest thing is in the end? - in the books, few people were as close to Tissaia as Francesca was - here, they are mortal enemies instantly.
Side-note: I love how Philippa starts up shit and then escapes the moment it all goes to hell lmao

ship I never thought I'd ship... you know...
cause he killed her baby and all.
And then she killed some babies.
Doesn't that make them the same though??? Same hobbies and all.
They look good. Think about it - most powerful emperor in the world and most powerful sorceress in the world... it could work right?
She's also a fresh widow. And he needs a queen.
And idk what I'm talking about, just need someone to write a fanfiction based on this.
But out of context?? - this totally looks like flirting. Fringilla was probably feeling awkward as eff watching her boss flirt with her girlfriend. And that's why she's so done with Emhyr later omg. See, it all tracks. Also helps that Dilfgaard has all the hotties. Emhyr, Fran, Fringie, Vilgefortz, Rience, Lydia etc.
Yup, all this, that's my headcanon. Don't mind me.

No, not dead. I’m simply no longer confined, Cahir. You know, it’s amazing what you can do when you think for yourself.
Tumblr media
There’s a good chance the girl has already fled the building.

Take a search party and go. Tissaia’s life is mine.

Then take her.

the quickest way to radicalize cahir and accelerate his entire redemption arc was to put his ass in snow. his quarter-northern genetics could not save him from this bitter cold. they were even in nilfgaard at the time of it starting to snow and i know he was like why the fuck would you invade here

Once Upon a Dream - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Forget-Me-Not
Chapter Text
The forget-me-nots bloomed in a perfectly preserved collection, despite the lateness in June. The wildflower was easily maintained and augmented by the fresh hyacinth the sorceress brought daily. It had been no more than a few weeks since the funeral, and still Yennefer could not bring herself to leave this godforsaken place.
Aretuza remained in ruins on the cliffs of Thanedd. In its current state, it became a stark reminder of what it had always been: a tomb. As macabre as it was, Yennefer knew Tissaia poured everything of herself into the school and would not want to be buried anywhere else. Her grave stood as far out on the cliff as the remaining sorceresses dared to place her with an ornate marble stone marking her final resting place.
Triss had stopped dragging her inside after the first week of failed attempts. Yennefer spent as much time as she could sitting in the summer grass next to the stone marker. Even the coastal rains couldn’t keep her away.
Today was no different.
Yennefer languished against the mound, aimlessly twirling and pulling at the grass as she stared out to sea. Daylight melted into night and she remained. Where else was she to go? Geralt convalesced in Brokilon, Ciri was missing, and Tissaia was…gone.
She angrily swiped at the stray tears that dared to slip over her cheeks. She could feel the bubbling of chaos under her skin, rearing like a viper ready to strike in response to her anguish. There was none of Tissaia’s touted balance and control to be found. Control was an illusion. An artifice buried with her.
A choked sob clawed at her throat and the venomous snake of her restraint hissed warningly.
What was the point of getting her magic back if it was useless to do anything to help her? To do anything to take this pain away? Maybe, in another life, things would have been different.
Yennefer grit her teeth and the coiled tension snapped. With a shuddering scream, every ounce of grief, each anguished regret, and all of her rage exploded out of her in a catastrophic blast. Wave after wave of chaos poured from her until she felt as hollow as her heart. Her energy fizzled and crackled in the air as her eyesight began to fade. And as she fell, she brokenly observed the crack down the middle of the marble headstone.
Forget the bottle. Let your chaos explode!
____________________________________________________
“Is she okay?”
“Is anyone a doctor?”
“Someone get her some water, please!”
“Miss, are you okay?”
Yennefer swatted fussing hands away from her neck and cheeks as she would irksome flies. The ground beneath her was hard and brought back a muscle memory she had hoped to never remember.
“What happened?” She groaned against the graveled sluggishness of her tongue.
The hands she had pushed away returned to her shoulder and neck, offering support as she began to push herself up.
Yennefer peeled her eyes open squinted against the glaring sun determined to blind her.
“You collapsed, likely from the heat.”
The figure assisting her leaned over her in concern, blessedly eclipsing the harshness of the sun. Yennefer blinked away the spots in her vision and her eyes settled on those opposite of her.
Familiar, crystalline eyes searched her own and Yennefer’s heart stuttered.
“Tissaia?”
