no matter how terrible my day is. i can always end my day in bed imagining fictional characters making out sloppy style and fucking raw. and that's beautiful. there's some good in this world mister frodo and it's worth fighting for

[Image ID: A flow chart with two branches. The starting point reads "does this character have problems." One branch leads to "yes" then "make them worse," while the other branch leads to "no" then "give them some." End ID.]

Instead of being unhinged I was normal on my birthday! Yay! Great! I am now thinking about Modern AU Arabella being autistic in the 2010s and her being on the commuter train in a full lolita coord.

he destroyed the bond of friendship and respect between the only people left who'd even look him in the eye

Gaunter O'Dimm is likely a very ancient deity in the witcher world who no longer has a cult but exists because the fear of something is a belief in something and I have been thinking about this extensively it fucks me UP. He's a god in the way the devil from the bible is a god and that makes me feral.

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.
