Is there anything Splinter did to the others that even Leo at the time though was too far/didn't like?

Oh, plenty of things. I’ve mentioned a few things Leo regrets before that were BASICALLY entirely Splinter's fault (putting donnie in the corner, making the turtles spar until first blood, that kinda stuff) but Leo would be hard pressed to blame Splinter (at least at the time). Splinter’s kinda gotten in his head in a way where Leo automatically jumps to his dads defense because he understands his mindset so well, and he’s been fed all the excuses Splinter tells himself to justify his behavior.

Also, Splinter has a habit of punishing the others to teach Leo a lesson. For example, if Leo slacks off in training, Splinter might fight one of his brothers as a demonstration. Everyone knows it's not a fair fight, but it’s not about everyone else, it's about LEO. The whole point is that if Leo slacks off and falls behind he’ll be even more outmatched in a REAL combat situation. Stuff like that makes it hard for Leo to blame Splinter, because in Leo’s mind it's HIS fault his brother’s getting hurt.

THAT being said, there is one idea I’ve been batting around about Donnie (yeah he’s my favorite so unfortunately this is about him again.)

So, I’ve been thinking, obviously Donnie wants attention and affection from adults, but plenty of kids do and not all of them are so easy to manipulate/so visibly desperate to get away. And while he is partially based on me and is a slight exaggeration of how easy it’d have been to groom me, I also want to give him some of his own reasons for things. Yknow, like a character haha. ANYWAY enough rambling, here’s the vague outline of what happened:

Around 6-7 years old, Donnie was really stepping into building things, right? Little, simplistic robots and wind up toys and stuff. It’s hard to do that using only tech that’s been dropped into the sewers, but he manages. This is before he discovers the hidden city, too, so his only source of supplies is the sewers. He’d scavenge all day for parts. It wasn’t exactly a safe hobby, but it was fun.

Well, once he needed a part that wasn’t easy to get. Something small, but specific (being vague cause idk shit about tech or building things tbh) and he, being a small child, decided to see if they had anything in the house that would work. He went around asking his brothers, then checked all the communal spaces (kitchen, dojo, living room, etc) and finally ended up finding something that would work! In Splinter’s room! While Splinter was away getting food!

Donnie, once again being a small child, was not subtle in his theft and left multiple signs that someone had been there. Splinter asked which one of them had been in his room, and after a tense interrogation, Leo pointed out that Donnie had been rummaging around the place looking for something so it was probably him. So, Donnie admitted what he’d done.

In response, Splinter grabbed his arm, walked them o Donnie’s room and confiscated every single object Donnie had built. Toys, robots, the whole thing. He also confiscated any usable spare parts Donnie had been keeping as well, so that Donnie would have to start his search for parts all over again.

He never gave them back. No matter how much time passed, if Donnie brought it up Splinter would glare at him and basically shrug him off. Only Leo knows that Splinter destroyed them all, and sold anything useful. Which he only knows because Splinter revealed it to him in a very dismissive, flippant way years later. Leo’s never told his brothers, but Donnie’s figured there’s no way Splinter kept all his inventions.

I think Splinter does similar things to the others, like tear up a comic Mikey’s reading during training, or take Raph’s food and give it to Leo as punishment for Raph stepping out of line, but this was probably the least justifiable and most cruel time he did something like that. Just destroying all of a child's hard work and possessions to prove a point.

I was gonna have him crush all of Donnie’s inventions in front of him but I think there’s a different kind of emotion I wanna explore here. The slow, painful realization that your dad walked with you to your room, told you to stand in the doorway, and then stole all your most important things from you. He picked them up carelessly, not minding if they broke in his arms, and you never saw them again. He’s not ever going to give them back, because he didn’t even KEEP what he stole from you.

So yeah, no one was happy about that. They were pretty small, but it’s hard to forget something like that haha. Leo can still remember how hard and long Donnie sobbed once Splinter left :)

I’m a huge Multishipper and find the merits of almost any Ship for Bob’s Burgers. I’ve seen so many good content for so many lovely ships!! Here are some of my favorites (and the blogs that produce the best content for these ships):

Tina/Josh is so underrated, in my opinion. The show did make it so they’ll never be canon (probably), and Josh didn’t get nearly enough screentime, but I think they’re adorable. I loved them so much in Linda-Pendant Woman, with Tina pulling a Prince Charming and trying to find who Josh’s bandaid belonged to. And their Fresh Feed kiss!! Tbh, I kind of ship them the most (please don’t come for me) and they’re super cute. But the show’s most likely not going to do anything else with them. They have a ton of potential, and I wish they spent more time fleshing Josh out as a character. If they had, this ship had the potential of being as good or even better than some of the other ships with Tina. I also definitely headcanon Josh as Bi. That boy is not straight in my opinion.

Tinimmy is such a classic, I adore it and all of the lovely content that @drawthethingdoppelganger and @jimmyjrsmusoems have put out. These two are the absolute Tinimmy Queens, so if you want Tinimmy content, go to their blogs immediately!! It helps that this ship is basically canon, and Jimmy Jr. is such an awkward dork 😭 He doesn’t know how to express his emotions, but he does care so much about Tina despite what some people say 😒 It’s so frustrating when people always put J Ju down because of one episode (V For Valentine-Detta). Yes, it was a jerk move, but he’s a flipping middle schooler!! And it wasn’t even that bad, anyway. And one bad move doesn’t erase all of the lovely things he’s done for Tina. Like finding her Barrecklace and saying it made him think of her?? Wanting to do a Sky Kiss with her?? Agreeing to go on a date to Pie in the Sky even though he’s not really a fan, and inviting her on a completely genuine date to Fro-Yo Mama?? Come on, these two are adorable. And they deserve a coffee date sometime if DT’s recent art is anything to go by. I also headcanon Jimmy Jr. as Bi sometimes and a heavily closeted Gay boy other times. It kind of depends how I’m feeling, pffffft. @br1ghtestlight has headcanoned him as Aro/Ace, and that’s a fun and valid interpretation too, but I usually feel as if he does have some sort of interest in Tina romantically. I’m not sure. I guess it depends??

Zekina is so cute even though I don’t ship it as much as the other two. Zeke wanting to take Tina on a date to the aquarium and then out for tacos is just so adorable!! But it always annoys me so much when people say that Zeke is obviously the better choice for Tina and is always nicer to her and always has her best interests at heart. Like, Zeke is a sweetheart, but he’s had his moments of not being great to Tina. He’s a teenager just like Jimmy Jr. He’s not obviously the better choice for her just because he suggested that date of tacos and touch tanks. Zekina is lovely, and I respect anyone who ships it and makes content for it. I definitely see the appeal. But people really need to stop coming for Jimmy Jr. Yes, I will keep yelling about this forever 😭 Anyway, if you want some of the best Zekina content, you must go to @theangrypomeranian’s blog right now. You should absolutely read Baby Steps!! I started it but haven’t gotten far because of the length, but everyone should go read it and support them!! @br1ghtestlight has also written a Tina and Zeke fic (though they might just be platonic there) that I still haven’t read yet, but everyone should go read that too.

Zeke/Jimmy Jr., aka Zesto (not sure if that’s their actual ship name, but it should be) is great. It has so much potential, and I ship it a ton. I tend to ship Tina/Josh and Zeke/Jimmy Jr. the most, not because of Jimmy Jr., but because those are the ships I just enjoy the most and I think have the best potential/chemistry. But plenty of other ships have lovely potential and chemistry too!! Anyway, these two can be read equally well as platonic besties, but them being together romantically intrigues me. It would be a ton of fun, I think. They would definitely be a chaotic couple, but a cute one. I mean, Jimmy Jr.’s reaction when he thought Zeke would start going to a different school?? He was so stressed!! And Zeke always wanting to wrestle with J Ju as a sign of affection? And agreeing to do things like help J Ju get a chicken nugget in his mouth? I love.

Genecadero is adorable and @dianadeadwing has made such cute artwork for them. Gene doesn’t have many ships, and I probably enjoy this one the most. It’s definitely a rare pair. Gene deserves a cute romance with a sweet partner!! It’s weird to me when people sometimes say that Gene is too young for that when the show already tried giving him a straight relationship with Courtney. Yes, they broke up, but still. The showrunners are clearly open to giving Gene a relationship. I love the idea Diana brought up of Peter not-so-subtly having a crush on Gene and Gene just not getting the hints. But I like to think he becomes super lovestruck and a super doting partner when he’s older.

I’m cheating and putting Gene/Alexis (I came up with a super cute ship name for them now now I can’t remember what it is ☠️ Does anyone want to help me come up with one??) on here, because I was like “Welp, if others don’t want to give Gene many ships, I’ll make one myself!” I’ve grown very attached to Alexis as an OC, and I’ve suddenly realized he has similarities to Alex 😭 I imagined them both as being voiced by Thomas Middleditch, their names are similar, and are both kind of nerds. But I think that’s where the similarities end. I definitely wanted Alexis to stand out as a character, and I think he’s still different enough from Alex. Anyway, I can’t help but talk about these two, they make my heart sing. I will never get tired of making content about them or just rambling about them like here.

Gene/Sasha is such a rare pair, and the enemies to lovers potential?? Amazing, actually 🤌🏼 If this ship wasn’t so rare, I think it would have Louigan potential, tbh. I love the idea of these two talking more and bonding, because let’s be real, Sasha is 1,000% not straight. Just look at him. Their ship also kind of reminds me of Dipcifica from Gravity Falls, with the rich kid potentially opening up and becoming a better person thanks to someone else’s influence. I just love a good Enemies-to-Lovers romance, and the potential they have for banter is immaculate.

Ahhh, Roudise (aka Louwheeze, which is an incredible ship name), is just the cutest thing on earth, I adore it. I love a good Friends-to-Lovers, and I think I just have them on the brain because of Roudise Week. They’re just adorable and basically canon like Tinimmy. I probably ship them the most?? They just make me happy. I love how Rudy brings out Louise’s softer side, and Louise helps bring Rudy out of his shell. Their friendship is precious, their potential romance even more so. I just have a lot of thoughts about these two, they make me happy. Also, Louise slapping Rudy after kissing him in Bob, Actually sends me every time. If you want some of the best Roudise content, go to @ltwharfy and @devilh0rnsinc. Their Roudise content is just so lovely!!

Louigan!! This ship is great too. I don’t understand why people who ship it get blocked. There’s so much potential there!! Again, Enemies-to-Lovers is one of my favorites. And their potential for banter?? Amazing. Incredible. No notes. If you want the best Louigan content, you must go to @babsvibes immediately. I started reading Stacy’s Cardamom, which is basically her Magnum Opus. I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s incredible and everyone should go read it. She’s truly the Louigan Queen and got me interested in this ship in the first place. And she was kind enough to invite me onto the Louigan Discord, which has been an absolute blast (even though I hardly share anything Louigan on there ☠️). I want to change that and make more Louigan content. I have a lot of ideas. Y’all better watch out if Louigan Week happens again next September 👀 Louigan Week was also amazing this year!! Everyone show Babs some love for running that incredible event.

Louissica is cute and has potential. I feel as if it’s quite similar to Roudise as a cute, charming Friends-to-Lovers. But Jessica just needs to appear more and be more developed as a character, because she just hasn’t appeared enough for me to have as many thoughts about this ship as all of the others I’ve listed so far. I loved them hunting for that Wharf Monster together, that was such a fun side plot. And them bonding at Louise’s sleepover when she’d driven everyone else away.

BOBLIN. If there’s a ship from this show I love the most, it’s Boblin, no contest. There’s a reason my very first ask to DT was Boblin-related. But I’ve rambled about them enough, so I’ll try to keep this short, pfffffft. They’re an example of a couple that’s as close to perfect that I’ve ever seen. They’re so sweet you’ll get a cavity, they’re domestic, and they’re ancient as hell muppets. What else could you want?? I love how their love stems not just from huge, loud, romantic gestures. It also stems from more quiet, subtle moments. Like Bob massaging Linda’s feet. Or Linda deciding to give Bob a quiet night in for his birthday, because she realized he’d enjoy that the most. Or Bob making her a heart-shaped pancake on Valentine’s Day. You get the idea. If you want the best Boblin content, then @jimmypesto is your girl. She’s written some of the best BB fics I’ve read, and the way she writes Boblin is unmatched. She’s such a talented writer, it’s insane. She’s also written a ton of Boblin smut, if that’s your thing!!

Frondbrose is wonderful. These two also have such good chemistry and banter, it’s insane. Their Enemies-to-Lovers potential is insane. I wish they were canon so bad. They definitely need to interact more. Mr. Ambrose showing his softer side for Mr. Frond is just so adorable to me!! This man would be the epitome of “I hate everyone, but I don’t hate you 😌” They make me all giggly. I can’t get enough. They’re definitely the type to have Hate Sex once and then deny it ever happened 🤣. But everyone would know the truth.

Tedmort is so cute and has so much potential. I love it. I think Teddy and Mort’s friendship is precious already, but a potential relationship between them?? The wholesomeness meter would be off the charts. They can be an ancient muppet couple like Bob and Linda!! Mort would treat Teddy 1,000% better than Denise, but tbh, anyone else would treat Teddy better than Denise. If you want Tedmort, then @keepyourhornson-spyro is the person for you!! They’ve written some lovely Tedmort fics that everyone should read.

Marshmallow/Nat has such potential, and there should be content about them!! It just seems like such a fun ship, and I think being with Marshmallow would help Nat get over her ex-girlfriend. These two also share a similar vibe of just coming and going as they please, and “being truly free” 😌 I still love that Marshmallow is canonically Trans and Nat is canonically a Lesbian. They’re wonderful.

Hemita is a canonical rarepair, which I didn’t think was possible, but here we are. I think they’re so cute and definitely good for each other. Susmita asking out Henry in Morse Code?? That was adorable. We need more moments of these two being cute. I love them.

Barryl is such a rare pair and has won me over so much. There’s just something that makes sense about these two being together that’s difficult to describe. There’s something so sweet about Becky being able to find love after being unlucky with Jimmy Jr. Darryl would be such a sweet boyfriend to her, and she would be such a sweet girlfriend in return. They would be so cute holding hands and listening to the Frozen soundtrack on repeat. Sure, to ship them, you need to ignore Rosa, but she was only in one episode anyway. I gotta shout out @theangrypomeranian again for basically creating this entire ship herself. Amazing.

Arnlee is such a gigantic rare pair it’s insane, and they’ve definitely won me over too. They’re so cute!! They’re just two socially awkward kids who would work really well together. They deserve to have some sort of side plot where they bond. I would love that. @devilh0rnsinc made the cutest art of these two together for @ltwharfy, and that was what officially won me over. That and @ltwharfy’s adorable fic about them which everyone should go read.

I might cut myself off there, because this post is insanely long. But it just goes to show how many lovely ships there are in this fandom. And they’re all valid. Seriously, can we please just respect each other and who we ship??

Anyway, there’s a little something for everyone in terms of ships, and I just love that so much. Everyone needs to check out all of the blogs I mentioned for some lovely content❣️They’ve also just been so sweet and welcoming towards me, I can’t stress that enough!!

First impression

So, I first met dear First Aid through fanfic. My impression of him was sweet uwu baby. You can fit so much trauma in him and he will still be a cinnamon roll.

Impression now

Having now met IDW1 Aid: He’s weird, and complaining about people is his love language. Despite being a medic, he really doesn’t handle death well. At least, not when he knew the patient. Probably a good thing he was posted on Delphi and not on a base where you know the soldiers. I could see this one killing people besides Pharma. He’s become more ruthless over the course of the series. Not cruel, just a direct point A to point B. Like door surgery.

Favorite moment

I don’t think I have one. There’s a lot that can be done with Aid, but his moments in MTME/LL (the only place I’ve seen him so far) tend to fade into the background. That being said, I think my favorite moment was when Velocity shared what he’d told her about Ratchet.

Idea for a story

So TFA First Aid, according to the Complete Allspark Almanac, is the medic version of Bumblebee’s frametype. He was picked for that reason by Sentinel Magnus to be a Protectobot, given a fancy badge and everything, because Sentinel wants his own version of Optimus’ crew. (He thinks it will make him more popular.)

I’d explore how his time working for Sentinel sucks. What it’s like to be living propaganda. His relationship with his fellow Protectobots, like Groove (motorcycle) the TFA Prowl stand in, and Hot Spot (firetruck), a war veteran meant to stand in for Optimus Prime.

Unpopular opinion

I think First Aid should have had his license temporarily suspended. His obsession with Ambulon’s body was a clear cry for help. He might have vehemently denied it, but Aid needed help. Ratchet should have, at the very least, required Aid to work with Rung. To actually get him to put in the work to deal with his issues, Ratchet should have probably suspended his license until Rung said he was actually working to improve. Sure, Aid would have probably had a temporary “I’ve given up” phase, but he’d get over it. Rung might be overly concerned with First Aid’s badge obsession, and Aid would never tell him the truth behind it. But eventually, Rung would realize it wasn’t hurting anybody and move on.

Favorite relationship

Tbh, I don’t think Aid has any in IDW. Just acquaintances. Which he really needs to fix. I love reading fics where he and Ambulon are good friends. And I love it when the Protectobots get explored. But those are AUs. Canonically, I think First Aid is a very lonely guy.

Maybe he and Velocity? I mean, they obviously did talk.

Favorite headcanon

Where First Aid was created as part of a combiner, I think he’s inside the Uncanny Valley. The way he tilts his head and stares at you with that visor of his. The way he can tell you that Blades is in a mood or Hot Spot is stressed without looking up from a patient. Or the way he just assumes you’ll be jiggy if his brothers join you two. It just isn’t natural.

First Aid is nice. But boy, is he Weird.

Battle Lines: DVD Commentary

I am proud of myself for writing 140k, I’ve never done it before! I thought some people might be interested in scenes left on the cutting room floor and other thoughts I had while writing. Spoiler alert: A lot of this is praise to @gossipqueen2000 my beta and @faytalepsy for her cheerleading and artistic vision. Also spoiler alert: contains spoilers, including for the epilogue if you haven’t read that yet.

Chapter 1

I’ve mentioned this in comments but the idea of Eraklyans being at odds with Solarians came from Alliance by @somenamewithepineapple, great enemies to lovers Silrah fic! But I wanted this to be a story of a royal and her bodyguard so I changed Farah to queen of Domino, which would also allow Bloom to be incorporated into the story and have a similar enemies-to-lovers arc between Skloom (admittedly entirely offscreen).

The idea of Alfea as an extreme pseudo-military boarding school is an amalgamation of many concepts, namely taking the black/the Wall in Game of Thrones, the various mendicant orders of the catholic church, and of course reading far too many romance novels of sexy soldier/secret agent heroes in high school.

Chapter 2

From the beginning I knew I wanted Farah to have her bedroom charmed so no one can view her decorations other than a couple inoffensive trinkets. I assume as a queen you have very little privacy, even in your bedroom you’ll probably have cleaners coming in, etc. So I wanted to show that she takes great pains to protect the most private parts of herself even in her own home.

Coming up with the council members was quite fun, tbh. I love making up fun names, and borrowing from the OG cartoon too. Although I promptly forgot how to spell “Gehrheart” and had to look it up every time I referenced him thereafter. 0/10 experience, would not recommend.

The discarded scene from this chapter is a squirrel setting off a sensor in Farah’s bedroom in the middle of the night and Saul charging in in a frenzy. I changed it to the locked door scene which fit better tonally. Plus then I thought to add the “Personally I think you’ve spent too much time in [my bedroom] already” line which was funny if I do say so myself.

A theme that never fails to be funny to me as I wrote this, is that Saul isn’t actually a very good bodyguard 😅 Accidentally locking himself in Farah’s bedroom is Exhibit A.

Chapter 3

Having Bloom and Saul be somewhat allies in opposition to Farah was really fun to write! On the surface it’s fun because they both have objections to how Farah handles certain things, but on a deeper level I wanted Saul to crave and tangentially have that pseudo-father/child relationship that he’s been missing pretty much since Sky was born but definitely since his exile.

What made this story so fun to write was the repeated pattern of a) they find some common ground that increases their respect for the other and then b) they find out something new that pisses them off and then c) repeat. Obviously item “a” always has to be stronger than item “b:” they always have to come back to the conclusion that the other is a better person than their first impression. But it was super fun to think of new obstacles to throw at them.

The idea for public audiences comes from The Emperor’s New Groove. 😌 I am the sum of all the art I’ve ever experienced.

Before I wrote too far into this, Mo and I were brainstorming bodyguard story tropes and of course I have her to thank for the “walking in on him shirtless working out” scene. Thank you kindly, Mo, your services are appreciated.

Chapter 4

This chapter was action-heavy so it took a while to write but I think it might be my favorite! You’ve got angst, you’ve got rising stakes, you’ve got protective Saul Silva, you’ve got whump, you’ve got hurt and some extremely stilted comfort, you’ve got the record-scratch cliffhanger that I love writing lol.

The initial draft of this scene had the assassins try to stab Farah as she was walking through the hospital, and they’d say “Andreas sends his regards” to Saul on their way in/out, thus implicating Saul directly. I couldn’t figure out how to make that work and then got the idea to make the assassins patient plants and have the implication come earlier, from Valtor. I’m kind of amazed how well everything fell into place.

Chapter 5

This didn’t occur to me until I was writing the epilogue, but in my head Domino culture is Celtic-inspired (since Fate was filmed in Ireland) but Eraklyon is very Greco-Roman-inspired. The Crypteia (Krypteia/Krupteia) is historically based; there are references to a year-long military service obligated for an elite caste of young warriors in ancient Sparta. Obviously it’s debated how reliably the known historical sources (Plutarch, Plato) convey the details, but I was searching for a militaristic ritual that would have high enough stakes to cause the fallout between Saul and Andreas over Sky’s safety. The Crypteia in my story is just one event, not a year.

I wrote and rewrote Saul’s “monologue” so many times because it was hard to strike the balance between capable but unlucky warrior and poor little meow meow. I think it worked, fingers crossed you agree.

In drafts, when Saul reveals he’s Sky’s biological father, I had Farah toy with the notion of using that information against Andreas, but Saul panics that it’s going to endanger Sky. I ended up deciding this was too calculating for Farah and would be writing myself into a corner. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Side note but I really enjoyed the emotional whump of Farah in the aftermath of the assassination. She’s falling apart but she’s not allowed to fall apart and she doesn’t want this stranger to be responsible for holding her together but also she can’t help it and also and also and also.

I was going to have Saul resign in this chapter to keep Farah safe, rather than later on. Then I decided to extend it because a) I was having too much fun writing this story and b) I rationalized that Saul would take this as an opportunity to lean harder into protecting Farah rather than admitting he’s not the best man for the job. It’s more fun to write about flawed people than perfect people!

Obviously I had to do the “only one bed” trope. Also I’m very proud of the “Don’t be stupid”/”But I am stupid, as you tell me five times a day” exchange.

“How shall I address you?” / “Dowling, in private. Farah, if you are bold enough.” was inspired by the horribly saccharine American ending of Pride & Prejudice (2005) dir. Joe Wright.

The vow of celibacy came to me right away during the brainstorming phase. I went to Catholic school for high school and you do meet the occasional hot priest and well…you’ve seen Fleabag, you can do the math.

Chapter 6

The first draft of the first time they wake up together, since it’s from Saul’s point of view, I wrote Farah as the one to wake up Saul, and Saul—being a warrior—does not take kindly to being roused so he switches instantly from sleep to “action hero” and grabs her throat. At which point Farah also immediately overreacts to Saul’s overreaction and she uses magic to blast him across the room. And from the floor Saul slowly stirs and says “...I’m awake now.” I decided that tonally it wouldn’t fit from the discomfort of the previous night so I just started the chapter in the car.

The dream is inspired by one of my own, in which Louis Tomlinson from One Direction sabotaged my audition to play the part of “the pear” in ??? I don’t remember which musical but not one involving pears. Also, I can’t sing, so Louis was actually doing me a huge favor.

I had a hard time coming up with how to show the passage of time while still escalating the background conflict. Everything up to this point has been over the span of a few days, so I struggled with changing the scale to weeks instead. At one point Valtor showed up back in Domino and Saul disarms him; I cut that after beta help.

Yeah… I changed Bloom’s age a couple times in the writing of this fic. I meant to have Bloom be 18 and Sky a couple years older, but apparently math is hard.

Chapter 7

Reading back on this, Farah is a bit sassy to start this chapter; I specifically remember it was because Jackie had just released a new chapter of Alliance ft extremely sarcastic Farah.

Telluride was always meant to be a placeholder name until I came up with something original; it’s the name of a ski town in western Colorado, the state I moved to during the writing of this story. It’s such a pretty name, I decided to keep it.

Of course I snuck in a reference to Martin Evershed. Love that no one commented on it 😅

This is the chapter where Farah handwrites condolence letters to victims’ families. While writing, I estimated at what point her hand would start cramping and guessed thirty. Well since this chapter, I had to write 60+ thank you notes for my wedding and it’s safe to say that was a dramatic overestimate lol. My hand starts cramping after 5.

When I was agonizing over how exactly to end this story, I can’t believe the climax was staring me in the face, in this chapter. Farah literally says the line “So gutting Andreas is only a secondary purpose of carrying a dagger?” The explosion that went off in my head when I reread that part. But I’m choosing to take it as: alright well I guess I’m falling my way upwards into being a better writer, that I lay all the groundwork for my future self so well.

Chapter 8

I struggled with the kidnapping scene and wrote and rewrote it many times. I originally wanted all four of them to be together in the same room, but as I was writing Bloom and Farah kept interrupting, kept essentially making fun of Sky for being so deluded by propaganda. So I cut them out so it was just father & son for maximal angst. It was hard to thread the needle of Saul being devastated at Sky’s decisions but also a soldier enough to take him to task for it (while being heavily whumped bc I’m me).

In the original outline I had Sky take a more active role in dissuading the war via campaigning/pleading with Andreas, rather than subverting from the shadows. Ultimately I decided Andreas was beyond reasoning so that’s why Sky and Bloom took the route they did.

The cut scene from this chapter is Saul using a sexy motorcycle instead of a jeep, Farah riding “bitch” so she can hold him tight from behind. Lots of accidental touching. Decided this was not the time and place

Saul says that Sky is nineteen here lmfao. Apparently 14 at the Crypteia + 8 years of Saul’s exile = 19 years old, to renowned author and not mathematician Skye.

Speaking of, it was SO FUN to write Saul as extremely capable at everything except being a normal human man trying to function in society 😅 A drink? What is that? Stand next to hot person?? Must find way to exit; only does so after causing as much psychic damage as humanly possible.

Chapter 9

The masquerade ball was also a plot point that I knew would happen from very early on (Farah and Saul in sexy formalwear? Of course), but it was Mo’s idea to make the ball a cover for some secret diplomacy. Having a beta insanely elevated this story!

After I finished Chapter 1 and realized this was going to be a multichapter story, the dance, mask, and kiss scene was the very next thing I wrote. I am pretty proud of myself for coming up with the mask being the way Saul allows himself to “slip” and step out of himself for long enough to up the slow burn with a kiss.

Chapter 10

Writing Ben and Saul as being somewhat at odds was also very enjoyable. They’re both very protective of Farah, but Ben thinks Saul is a pushy upstart and Saul thinks Ben is a stuffy fuddyduddy. I love writing reluctant allies.

I was very deliberate that in the narration, Saul never thinks of Farah using her first name until they consummate their relationship in the hotel room. Even after the kiss at the ball he calls her “the queen” in his head except in rare circumstances when he’s considering both of them in the third person. Same with Farah; she addresses him as “Silva” in her head until they give themselves to each other in Anolide and he becomes Saul.

Chapters 11 & 12

I have Mo to thank for the introduction of Burnett; what a *chef’s kiss* to include the optimal mirror for Saul and his “failings.”

The name “Degenhard” as Saul’s pseudonym when he checks into the hotel was a result of a hilarious conversation in the WinxSource server. Apparently “degen” is German for “sword” soooo I thought it extremely fitting for what happens in the story that night. Winkyface. Sword hard. Originally the surname was “Petrino,” I think it was published that way for a couple days before I retconned it.

I really hope the final argument before the consummation was clear from both sides. Mo was supremely helpful molding it out of the clay I provided. I struggled a lot; is it ever worth it to give up your “self” for another person? When does “staying true to yourself” veer into stubbornness and aversion to healthy change? What do we owe to our former selves? I hope I answered it well.

Chapter 13

In the first draft of this chapter, Saul was on surveillance rounds when he came upon an injured child, and his panicked rushing into action is what lowers his guard and leads to him being kidnapped. Then, the child would be in the room while Saul was being tortured and she would be the apparition used to torture him instead of Sky. But sometimes less is more so I just didn’t show Saul’s kidnapping, and also I wanted Sky to have a larger role so I changed it to Sky being the apparition.

The fairy who tortures Saul is an earth fairy… know who else is an earth fairy? Ben.

Chapters 14-20

This chapter(s) took the longest. I had such a hard time getting inside Farah’s head before I settled on the rage. I was actually getting the first professional massage of my life, on my honeymoon, when the lightbulb went off: RAGE!! ANGER!!! IRRATIONALITY AND POOR DECISION MAKING CAUSED BY FEAR! All good thoughts to have on your honeymoon.

I think we all knew Saul wasn’t going to betray Farah, but I wanted to leave it as ambiguous as long as possible for the reader. At one point in draft stages, Farah was going to wake up in bed with Saul on top of her, one hand muffling her mouth and the other holding a knife to her throat. Sexy, right?

Chapter 21

The mole! I was angling for the clues to lead to Gehrheart but I had just kind of kicked the can down the road for what the payoff was going to be. I don’t remember exactly when in the story I decided to change it to Ben but it was after S2 (fake Ben!! Who is that man!! evil!!). It was just too delicious not to pass up. The key turning point for Ben was the caravan trip to Telluride when he mentions he hasn’t heard from Terra in awhile. Offscreen, Ben finds out that Andreas is holding Terra hostage for his compliance; he’s the one who sets up Saul’s kidnapping and plants the suit jacket. Farah and Saul know they can’t plan anything in view of the council, because they assume the mole is in the council, so they plot with Bloom in her bedroom, and go back to the council to set up a fake story/concern about how to resolve Saul’s situation. That way Andreas would have fake info passed from Ben (who didn’t know it was fake) and from Sky (who did).

Epilogue

Since Fate was filmed in Ireland, everything in my head for Domino is vaguely Celtic. Royal weddings in Domino are sealed by a stylized dance, to the tune of music in the vein of The Captain’s Dance by Marcus Warner (Youtube; Spotify).

🥺🥺🥺 hope you enjoyed. After reading comments and chatting in the WinxSource server I realized there were so many loose ends I could easily tie up with a couple hundred words... that turned into 6k oops. I have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees when I’m in them. Letting myself rest after finishing Chapter 21 helped me see what I needed to see, and writing this wrap-up was cathartic as well.

VERY good question that made me actually sit down and listen to all of the Project Voltage songs lmao

This got long so everything past the first two are under the cut!

TL;DR: 4 L/N, 4 MMJ, 4 VBS, 4 WxS, 3 n25

Volt Tackle- I think for just Volt Tackle itself, L/N could rock it since parts of it remind me of songs like Teo or Hibana -Reloaded-. However, for the Jewel Remix, VBS would be the ones to cover it and you cannot change my mind on that. It’d be really cool if in-story this was one of L/N’s songs and VBS decided to remix and cover it

Electricity Forecast- The Viridian Forest theme (one of my favorite themes in all the games and not only because of Yellow) seals to me that this would be an n25 song. I really have no defense for it other than that but honestly tell me it doesn’t fit. Like I could see an argument for VBS but I think n25 would slay this

What Kind of Future- I could see MMJ doing some kind of collaboration with Pokemon and covering this song, like them kind of incorporating the “attacks” in their choreography or something like that. The beat also reminds me of some of their songs, like Newly Edgy Idols. I can definitely see this on an idol stage. I also think at least Minori would be amused by all of the puns XD

The Pokemon Inside My Heart- This one for sure gives WxS, especially on the gaming side of things. You know if this were a song in-universe Nene would cover it even on her own. It honestly reminds me of some of their more chill songs as a group, and honestly feels kind of reminiscent of Starry Sky Melody for some reason?? That might just be me

Battle! (Hatsune Miku)- VBS hands-down, are you kidding? I don’t even think I have to justify my choice here

Fly With You- It’s telling the story of Mudkip and Pelipper, so I think WxS would cover this just on the storytelling ground, y’know? I could see it being a show on Wonder Stage

I GOT YOU!- VBS, and again I don’t really think I have to justify this choice lol, I also think this is one of my favorites so far

JUVENILE- L/N both based on the overall sound and the themes in the lyrics! Very fitting imo. Tell me I’m wrong I dare you

I’m a Ghost Type- I was originally going to say VBS, but I honestly think that n25 could handle this song slightly better? I’m still kind of torn between them but I’m going to say final answer n25 because they do deserve some hard-hitting beats like this, plus n25 has done several syudou songs before that went well

GO! Team BIDOOF- I’m kind of caught between MMJ and WxS for this one, but I think I’m leaning towards WxS just because it’s giving Niccori and I love Niccori lol (edit a second after I wrote this: they’re produced by the same producer so that’s probably why I kept drawing parallels between the two lmaooooo)

Awoo- n25 is probably gonna end up getting all the spooky-themed songs tbh but I really do think they’d do well with this one lol

Encounter- I’m split between MMJ and L/N but this also reminds me of Torinoko City so I think I’m going to give it to MMJ. Both groups fit the lyrics “‘You’re stronger than you were back then”/Even though I’ve grown up/Nothing seems to have changed, does it?” but MMJ gets the edge in terms of the sound of the song imo since it also lowkey gives Watashi wa, Watashitachi wa

Eon Ticket- I gotta go with L/N for this one, I mean just listen to it (I am maybe a little biased that marasy also produced Aoku Kakero! which is one of my favorite L/N covers)

PARTY ROCK ETERNITY- Another where I’m between VBS and n25!! Ahhhhh I think for this one I’m going to go with VBS on this one. This is another one of my favorite Project Voltage songs now lol

Journey’s Prequels, Journey’s Traces- WxS for this one, it just Gives Them

Psychic Psychic- I want to say MMJ for this one and I have no idea why. I think it kind of reminds me of Melty Land Nightmare vibes?

MELLOMELLOID- This one, oddly enough, had me split between MMJ and n25, but I think this reminds me too much of Darling Dance to not give it to MMJ

Alondra!!! It’s been forever since I’ve been on here and first I want to say that I’m sorry for disappearing so suddenly. So much has happened after spring break that I never really made free time out of school and work, and finding jobs after I graduate too (I think I was burnt out but I didn’t want to accept it tbh 😭). I’ve practically written a whole essay’s worth about NC part 13 😭 but I haven’t had the chance to revise what I wrote, also I think I wrote way too much (no seriously, I upgraded to writing on a word doc just for this!) I feel awful not posting or writing anything this past month, but school is almost done and I’ll be graduating May 9th! Hey! So! I plan events for work (and do other things) but tomorrow is my biggest event of the year and I had some thoughts about what our favorite clones are like at a fancy party.

Echo - polite and strolling around with a drink in his hand. He’s smiling and nodding at people who wave at him. He sticks to the emptier parts of the room but is always poised. I have no idea how he does it. Constantly checking for something to go wrong but looks like an angel who has never been bothered a day in his life. Absolutely stunning in a suit or a dress depending on the mood/vibe. Probably brought a plus one (I’m guessing he brought Tech or Rex tbh) and will stick by them no matter what. Will get flirted with at some point and will decline with so much grace it’s almost unfair. He’ll bounce early with Crosshair and get greasy food and sit on top of the ship with their ties and shoes off.

Tech - saves the event planner when the sound system shuts down the mics and starts playing the Macarena at volume 10 (I might have experienced this horror first hand I wanted to hide in a closet). He swoops in like a knight in shining armor and fixes the problem and then personally does the technical work the rest of the night. Looks so dapper and fit sure gets flirted with a lot but he’s turned down five separate people in the last twenty minutes and now people are starting to wonder who this man is. He probably hacks into the fire alarm somehow. Both my worst nightmare and sweetest dream wrapped into one.

Wrecker - life. of. the. party. Is single handedly responsible for the chaos on the dance floor. He has been buying drinks for everyone who looks like they’re having fun and he has been to the buffet table six times. He was all smiles until someone started harassing someone else and he put on his intimidating Wrecker™️ persona and personally removed the offending party. He’s my favorite guest. Fun and entertaining and easy going and very very vigilant. If at any point during the event someone cries or passes out (I’ve done both 🫠) he will be right at their side. Beautiful man.

Crosshair - this man stands at the edge at a wall and nurses a fruity little drink. He makes friends with the bar tender and glares at anyone who tries to be mean to them for not being fast enough. Leaves a two hundred dollar cash tip at the end of the night. Will be persuaded to dance by Wrecker but no one else. At some point he wanders around to find a quiet place to sit and think. I often find this guest standing on a balcony for some air and I will ask if they’d like me to bring them a snack or some water. If they decline I respectfully leave them alone. He will eventually find Echo to tell him the gossip he overheard and Echo will try very hard not to cackle at the sheer audacity some of these people have. They’ll bow out early together and get fries.

Hunter - kinda awkward. But sweet. Walks around looking for something to do but is quickly realizing he is out of his element. Too loud. Too many smells. Too hot. He tugs at his suit collar like it doesn’t fit even though it fits like a glove. He’s constantly aware of everywhere his squad is and is being far too vigilant to have any fun. Eventually he takes a seat at a table and gets a good plate of food in him before collecting his friends and leaving. Is mentally exhausted and falls asleep the second he arrives home.

7 your favorite tropes to read/write/draw

What a great question! There are so many but I've narrowed it down to a few :) I am very much a fan of ‘there was only one bed’ trope, or any other iteration of ‘forced to interact by Circumstances’ — just pure gold every single time!! It’s a tragedy that I haven’t written anything like that for Corintheus.

Truly I am suffering, but one day I’ll do it! The closest I think I’ve gotten is there’s a lot of uneasy allies/enemy tension in a lot of my fics.

Tbh if there was only one bed I really think both Dream and the Corinthian would be like ‘well you can sleep on the floor’ and probably only end up sharing because the other one refused to give it up. Dream could make another one with his fancy Endless powers, but I do feel like he’d stubbornly dig his heels in, or make a really comfy bed and the Corinthian would be outraged that it’s better and so try and kick him out of it (ok that’s enough of me work shopping scenarios!)

A well done fix it fic is definitely my kryptonite, as I’m sure it is for a lot of people!, because they can be very comforting as well as ways to resolve frustrations with canon material. Deliverance is probably my version of a comforting fix it :)

Another trope that makes me go insane is the whole ‘I see you as you are and I want all of it’ — which again you’ve probably seen a lot of in my writing. I love when a character looks at another one and accepts and loves all that they are, good and bad, without reservation. Not necessarily in a toxic way, more in a ‘I fell in love with the real you not a you I want you to be’ way. They see what the other hides/is ashamed of/has been rejected for and are like…no, other people are fools actually.

That probably says a lot about me as a person—so let’s not look too closely haha—but I just love relationships that affirm identity.

8 you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)

I can't help but say Corinthiel! There is so much to love about it as a ship, and I hope it will become less of a rare pair in future.

Definitely platonic/gen relationships too! They’ve always been a favourite of mine (your Dream & Orpheus prompts were so amazing to write for!) and I love explorations of character/themes outside of romantic relationships. I was actually far more used to writing gen before I started Baiting the Trap.

Those types of relationships/themes are still present in that series, and in all my other work, because even when I’m writing something shippy it’s never in isolation. The ship will always slot into a network of other relationships/themes outside of a ‘main’ pairing, and I love seeing that explored and appreciated in fics. I really hope it has been able to shine through in my own writing because it’s very important to me :)

I think part of my issue with this campaign of CR is that while this is ongoing work for me, I’ve done a lot of work to move on from my anger and resentment towards god and religion personally so watching a campaign that to often feels like “recent atheist mad at god” is exhausting. Yes, god and religion sucks sometimes, that doesn’t mean they should be wiped out.

I mean even this one village at least they want to worship how they traditionally have and that’s fair. But this just makes me question, why can’t you do both? There’s a large pantheon, many are chill with each other, people must worship different entities without issue? Why is this a problem?

And I know, the issue is the Dawnfather people are kinda being dicks. Probably like 1/10 of the town was at that meeting, and probably a few more couldnt make it or feel similarly. And that all sucks. But I’m just so tired about mild basic discussions of gods which exist in their fictional world vs “fuck them gods”. Im like, ok but even looking aside they have done good and bad -yes all of them- and tbh people are not being forced to worship them. Clearly the culture is mostly fine with people not worshipping the gods overall based on most of what we’ve seen so far.

People are annoyed the gods play favorites, but do they have an obligation to people uninterested in them? Part of me is just thinking “this feels so Christian. Why? They got like 25 gods to choose from? Most of them are friends?”

I love a lot of things… Yes. I would make a list… but then I wouldn’t stop. If I had to settle for one Sans, it’d be OG Classic. The Origin, The Legend, The #1 Tumblr Sexyman, Sans the Skeleton. The other top fav Sans at the top of my list would be Fell, Horror, Lust, and Nightmare, and it goes on.

But to tell yah the truth I am more of a Papyrus Simp, I realize this sometimes whenever I come across any type of OG or AU Papyrus art. It’s a hard choice. My mind and body goes to Sans, but in a way my affection is with both, but mostly Papyrus. I don't know if that makes sense, it feels like two-timing. I should draw more of Papyrus, even out the simping scales. \(￣︶￣*\)

In terms of ships? (I heard the topic of shipping can be complicated or an issue) ... So. Hmm. from what I've self-evaluated to myself. I don't really have a favorite... :D I think? Cause most of the time I choose to neither like nor dislike because love and hate are too strong of an emotion for me to deal with. Disliking things makes me feel tired and I can only handle so much fangirling/boying before my feral emotional levels exceed my capacity to remain conscious. With the amount of words I’ve said so far, I am proving I am a walking contradiction.

Anyway, I'm a welcome all-type of person, I'm neutral as long as no harm is being done. Meaning I am the type to also dabble in a ton of things. (゜-゜) (´◑ω◐`)

(Either I am what I say I am🤔, or I just haven't known/met the wrong people enough in my life to feel the need/want to make a whole DNI list 😅.)

The first ship I drew was y/n x sans au and I have drawn Error and Blue together for a cute ditys. I've been meaning to attempt drawing more ships, but not at the moment.

One insert ship I'm into at this time, that I can recall at the top of my head is an artist called @/mothiepixie (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) 😆💖

Also! I actually made it to 100 followers last month! I wanted to make a dtiys on such an occasion, but someone did a wrist twist move on me and now I can't exert my fingers or wrist that much, so I'm doing doodles or working on past WIP I've already started on ever so slowly.

I haven't gotten the chance to figure out what I’d draw exactly for a dtiys. If I were to make one now, it’d be at least 2-4 months to maybe a whole year in duration, depends.

Would I make prizes? I'd probably give everyone who participated a simple drawn prize for my first DTIYS (maybe☜(ﾟヮﾟ☜)), then for the next DTIYSs I would do top 3 or 4-5 five winners.

Character I Think is Underrated: Envy heehee (he’s my favorite so biased, but I also think ppl don’t appreciate how he gave us one of the greatest scenes in existence with Roy deciding not to kill him despite wanting to more than anything)

Character I Think is Overrated: Uhhhh none? I think all the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist deserve every hype they get

Character I Think is Overrated: Idk I don’t get the hype behind literally any of the side characters like like the Big 3; I also think outside of aesthetics, Mirko is overrated, I think because Touya is often seen as something he isn’t (someone fighting for everyone to live how they want—he’s not) I think he’s gotten to be a little overrated. He’s still one of my top favorites but I tend to disagree with how a lot of people view him

Favorite Ship/Pairing: IzuOcha is good, BakuCami makes me laugh, TogaChacko is also good

Something I Love About the Show/Movie: The feel good narrative behind it all, I love how much the author cares about his characters, I love how forgiving the story is

N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?

In addition to my ongoing WIP, “Life After Life,” I have two really vague fic ideas I’m mulling over. And believe me, when I say really vague, I mean really vague.

In no particular order:

VAGUE IDEA #1: Atem returns with Kaiba. A bunch of unspoken assumptions are crammed in the Dimensional Cannon with them. Atem’s first actions throw everything up in the air. Kaiba, still on a honeymoon high, brings Atem and Yugi together, with the flourish of a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Yugi falls apart. He’s been the brave warrior for so long, and when he sees Atem, standing in front of him, real and alive, he dissolves into tears and thanks Kaiba for bringing Atem back. Atem, shaken and guilty at the effect his leaving has had on his partner, focuses on comforting Yugi. Kaiba (of course) assumes the idyll is over, as Mokuba wonders why he’s always the one left picking up the pieces. I really want the story to be an exploration of the importance of romantic (Kaiba/Atem), platonic/friendship (Atem and Yugi) and familial bonds (Kaiba and Mokuba) as the characters negotiate their way through them.

VAGUE IDEA #2: Every time Kaiba tries to reach Atem in the after-life, he winds up back in his past. Meanwhile, every day Atem is spending in the after-life feels more hollow, as if he’s a vessel that’s emptying itself out. As everything starts to feel less real, the one thought that becomes more solid is that Kaiba is involved. They feel like they’re caught in a game and the only way out is to figure out what the game is and how to win.

E: What character do you identify with most? Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?

Both Kaiba brothers. My older brother was incredibly important to me growing up, and to this day, if he told me black was white, I’d be out there swearing he was right, so I really get that bone-in loyalty to an older sibling. As much as I love Yugi’s values, in temperament, I really get Kaiba, and in a much milder form, a lot of his struggles have been mine.

Capturing the Kaiba brothers has been an ongoing fixation of mine, so I’d like to think I’ve done them justice in all my stories. I think the one that looked at Kaiba’s inner workings in the most literal way was probably “Giving Up the Ghosts,” where Kaiba created an immersive virtual world that reflects all of his inner conflicts, strengths and damage and then has to figure out how to win to escape.

Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories? Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?

I tend to avoid thinking of my stories in terms of popularity because that’s a particularly self-destructive rabbit hole for me, and no matter where I start, I always end up feeling bad about my writing. I came up with a very simple metric that ended up working: Did I tell the story in my head to the best of my ability at the time I wrote it? So far the answer has been yes, and that has remained an enormous source of satisfaction.

A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

OMG!!! That’s like asking a parent who their favorite child is! TBH, I don’t really have an answer because I spend so much time nurturing each story. Also, in addition to being stories in and of themselves, they’re also my experience of writing them, and for me, those two things are inextricably intertwined. Writing my first story was an amazing experience because I’d never thought of myself as a creative person, and writing a whole story was something I would have said was beyond my ability. Having people connect with it and to meeting so many people through it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had several (mostly successfully resolved) health issues while writing my current WIP and there were months where each successful update felt like a victory in and of itself, and the story has occasionally became a stand-in, and at times a target, for my fluctuating moods. TBH, I’m not sure if I’m avoiding the question or if I simply can’t answer it.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

Ooooh, I am a Lore Girl™ at heart, so this is really my favorite part of writing anything. The Solavellan fic I’m working on right now (in which they have a child together post-Trespasser) has a lot of this that I’m sure won’t make it through editing.

One example: I love the idea of them naming their child Fenhala. Of course, there’s the obvious link to Fen’Harel in the prefix, but -hala (depending on the root word you use and the translation you prefer) could mean “end,” or “last,” or possibly even, “helper,” “rescuer.”

Within the context of the story, the name could almost be prophetic– it could be used to imply that their child will aid or end Fen’Harel, or become the “last wolf” himself (last of his line, last of his people)– but the linguistics and the concepts behind them are unlikely to be explained outright. That said, this particular story is very ambitious and very much a work in progress, so we’ll have to wait and see. :)

29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?

All over the place, tbh! As far as literature goes, anything Tolkien, Nix, or Gaiman will get me in a really fun headspace, but I've also been known to make a character playlist or two if I want to induce a specific mood.

Beyond that, I love to play D&D (surprise), which is always great for thinking up new concepts on the fly, especially if I’m not feeling particularly inspired. It’s nice to be able to springboard off of other people’s ideas and takes some of the creative pressure off.

39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?

HOO BOY, the obsession, I think? Which maybe sounds silly but honestly if I'm compelled enough to start writing something in the first place, that usually means I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. It also means I’ve probably done a lot of research in the meantime and have managed to stay interested in the idea.

If I truly feel like there's a roadblock, I've become progressively more comfortable stepping back from a story and letting it simmer until I feel like coming back to it. For me, that usually works better than trying to force something onto the page just to call it finished.

What’s your total AO3 word count?

About 236,000 currently, but a lot of my HP fic was never transferred over from Fanfiction.net. I’ve definitely posted over a million words.

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Technically 3 because I wrote 1 Syd/David fic for Legion (FX).

My other 2 are my main obsessions - Harry Potter (Ron/Hermione) and The Handmaid’s Tale (June/Nick).

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

DRIVE, Mysterious Bruises, HOME, HAUNTED, Sixteen

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes, I try to reply to every one. I sometimes miss things for months (or years, yikes) at a time, but I’ll try to circle back eventually because I’m a little neurotic about it tbh.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

The Last Thing - this was my first June/Nick fic, and it is very short but ends bleak.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Pretty much every fic I write ends happy (The Last Thing is an exception).

Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I started a Harry Potter / X-Files crossover where Mulder and Scully end up stranded in Scotland and stumble upon Hogwarts. They then enlist Harry, Ron and Hermione to help with an impending alien invasion, of course… but it quickly became way too complicated (obviously), and I never posted anything from it.

I also would maybe kinda count doing major references to other fandoms or fics as secret crossovers?

I’m working on one for Osblaine that’s a direct reference to my favorite fic of all time, The Furious Winter by CazQ, which is an X-Files fic originally.

And I have another in (very slow) progress for Osblaine called STAY that’s a big ol’ (smuttier) reference to Not As a Last Resort by Arabella, which is an incredible bed sharing fic for Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter... And I’ve just now discovered the fic is not on the original site because the whole site is no longer there. Just go ahead and kill me now...

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Oh yes indeed - some pretty nasty comments in Harry Potter fandom.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Certainly. Pick a flavor, and I’ll probably try it with Nick and June. 😂

Not that I know of.

Anything from Harry Potter tbh. I hate the wasteland I left, but I had to let it go. Still trying to get over that guilt.

Speed, but only when I’m on a high about an idea.

ADHD…

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Intrigued but have never done it. I would consult a friend who spoke the language rather than using a translator because, especially for dialogue, I feel you need to be pretty intimately familiar with casual speech patterns that would be very hard to nail without immersing in the culture.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

The X-Files but under a different pen name that I shall never speak of again 🤗

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

7 Years, 6 Months, 4 Days in HP fandom and probably DRIVE in The Handmaid’s Tale fandom.
