Adding to the abundant discussion of this episode because holy f*ck we need to talk about this. It’s no mistake that Crosshair meets a clone named Mayday. Crosshair is in CRISIS! He’s starting to question his siding with the Empire, have his doubts pile up. So it’s no wonder that when he’s paired with someone who is suddenly stating every one of those doubts out loud that Crosshair latches on to him. He needs Mayday to stay alive, to voice these doubts, to tell him he’s not alone in this crisis of faith he’s having. And when (spoiler) Mayday dies, that voice should die with him. But it doesn’t. Crosshair has heard him. And that’s all it takes.

Summary: Tbb s2 E12 Spoilers. Mayday is about to leave, but you want him to stay.

A/N: SPOILERS AHEAD. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. (okay now back into hiatus I go lol. Just fell immediately in love with this man. Sorry!)

Pairing: Commander Mayday x AFAB!Reader

Warnings: 18+ Minors DNI; Angst, Fingering, Feelings

“And how long will you be gone to Barton-4?” You ask Mayday as he’s slowly packing his bag.

You know he’s not anymore thrilled about this desolate frozen planet than you are.

“I’m… not sure…” He pauses his packing before looking up at you. “A while… They think possibly up to a year.”

“May… that’s… That’s a long time.” You murmur, sitting crossed legged on the end of your bed, your elbow on your knee, and your chin in your hand.

Mayday’s expression softens and you feel bad for sounding so needy. But you’ve been seeing each other for about a year now, no labels, nothing. You need to know where you stand. Sure, he’s a commander in the GAR, but to you, he’s just Mayday. You don’t care about ranking.

When he walks toward you, the commander in him is gone. It’s just you and him.

“Tell me then.” He murmurs, softly, gently cupping your face, leaning in close, your lips almost touching.

“Tell you what?” You ask, looking up at him through your lashes.

You know what he’s asking. You know him like you know the back of your hand and then some. He’s the only person you’ve ever known like this. And he knows you just as well. Doesn’t make it any easier, though… Does it?

“Tell me you love me.” He smirks.

“I…” You murmur.

You do. You love him. You really fucking do. Why can’t you just say it?

“See, you can’t even tell me how you feel.” He chuckles, softly.

“Well, you haven’t said it either.” You shrug.

He rolls your eyes. “Always so difficult.”

“Am I?” You tease, lightly.

He pushes you back on the bed and you can’t help but laugh as you scoot up toward the head of your bed. “Oh, mesh’la. You and I both know you are.”

He crawls up to you, hovering over you, smiling down at you.

“I’m not gonna say it first.” You whisper as his lips find his way to your throat.

“So, you do love me.” He hums, nipping slightly, making you squirm underneath him.

His fingers trail to the edge of your panties, his finger brushing along the inside, sending a trail of fire across your pelvic area.

“And you love me.” You sigh.

“Damn right I do.” He slides his fingers over your sensitive, clothed warmth and you let out a small gasp that trials into a whimper. “I love you so much, it’s ridiculous.”

“H-how ridiculous?” Your eyes close and he leans in close to your ear so that his breath leaves a ghost of a whisper just below it.

“Let me show you?” He kisses your neck and you nod, eagerly.

Mayday slides your panties down your legs and tosses them to the end of the bed. Your legs automatically fall open for him and he smiles down at you proudly.

“Look at me, cyare.” He kisses your lips so lightly that you almost miss it.

You open them just in time to see him slide his fingers into his mouth, making your own lips fall open slightly, clearly turned on by the sight. When he trails those same fingers down to your wet warmth, your eyes follow them, biting your lip.

“No, baby. Eyes on me. I wanna see your face perfectly as you fall apart for me.” He tells you.

Who are you to deny a commander?

He slides his fingers through your wet folds, and the groan that leaves your lips is something he knows he’ll think about every night while he’s away. Mayday continues to tease you before sliding a finger into you and your hand flies to his arm to anchor yourself to him. To this moment.

“Stay…” You whisper with pleading eyes.

You don’t even realize the gravity of what you just said before he stops moving his fingers.

“What?” He asks.

“S-stay… here. With me.” You murmur as he pulls his fingers out of you carefully. “Don’t go.”

You know how much trouble he could get into if he were to ever get caught so your next words are planned carefully.

“We can go somewhere. Start a life together.” Your hands slide up to his warm broad chest.

“Mesh’la… I-” He whispers.

“I love you, Mayday.” You tell him. “I… I can’t live without you… and I know what I’m asking is a lot… But I’ll give you the galaxy. I’ll give you anything.”

He sees it right then. What the right choice is. And he’s looking at it… At you.

With a sure smile, he pulls you closer. “I suppose you better start packing too, then.”

Some Clones are being forced to retire. They are not happy about it.

Dang, they can't even keep their helmets off now or it's out of uniform 😕

Lieutenant Nolan. Already hate him. He doesn't like clones, had the nerve to say they are used equipment. EQUIPMENT! How many clones is he going to get killed...

Lol I can't tell if the clone tripped him or Nolan slipped. I think he slipped, either way it was funny.

Long haired clone! And he's a Commander but Commander who? There's also Hexx and Veetch...think they are going to survive this episode..probably not.

I like this new Commander already! He don't take no crap. " In my experience, respect is earned. Tell me lieutenant. How many missions have you commanded?"

Nolan: 😠🤐🙁

New Commander: that's what I thought b*tch.

Clone Commander has a name it's Mayday..I like it.

Crosshair was hesitant to give his name...kinda understandable

They've been on that planet for about a year. Protecting "precious cargo " with no backup or approved equipment request. Why do I feel like that cargo is going to be worthless and Mayday's whole squad was killed for nothing.

I love the way they showed that explosion affecting Crosshair' s eyesight because of his helmet!

Oh, Veetch was killed too😔

Commander Mayday: the raider didn't get far. His cohorts just left him here.

This episode was great and heartbreaking 💔 seeing how the clones don't matter to the empire. I mean, we know but this episode really drove it in. Even Crosshair reached his breaking point. I just wish he could have stolen a shuttle and gotten out of there. Now he's at the mercy of those mad scientists.

I feel like they might try to turn him into one of those Assassin clones we saw in episode 7 or maybe the first death trooper. Then he'll be responsible for hunting down the batch and kidnapping Omega. Oh man, that's to much heartbreak, I hope I'm wrong. They might just torture him and force him to tell them everything he knows about clone force 99.

Maybe when Omega gets taken by the empire they will be able to rescue him too. If it's not to late😔

It's a Maori proverb that my best friend taught me and always helps me to remember when we're going through tough times; it's something we hold onto and gives us comfort.

Wairua refers to the soul or spirit, that special thing that is in all of us and connects us to god, the universe, or higher power, our guides, and our ancestors. It's about the connection we feel for loved ones who are far away or no longer here and how we still feel them with us every day. It is a bond of love that cannot be broken.

I made this little illustration for my friend to cheer him up. Back then, he was going through hard times. We share the same love for Crosshair; when the Outpost episode came out, he was hospitalized. We always share our opinions on the episodes that come out every week; that week and the following weeks felt horrible. When he was in recovery at his home, we caught up on the series, and when he met Mayday, Mayday immediately became one of his favourite characters.

It's been a year since The Outpost came out, and now with The Return, those words have gained more weight. Still, even though Mayday is gone, what he meant to Crosshair and how he touched his life and changed it will always be with him.

tbb s2 e12 and what it could mean for cody

okayyyy i have been sitting on this theory and i just need to get it out arrrghhhh. so, from s2 e3, i (and many others) originally concluded that cody intentionally defected and left the empire. this a conclusion of course based on the fact that it is said at the end of the episode that he went AWOL, and that the plot and his dialogue and actions clearly point towards that.

i still think that is what most likely happened, and that we’re probably gonna see him either at the end of season 2 or somewhere in s3, i doubt feloni (god fucking damnit dave always playing with my emotions) would leave that thread alone. however, given the events of episode 12 i argggh. jsfjhfujdckdsvjre. i have a theory that MAN I HOPE IS NOT TRUE but would make so much sense and would make the plot so interesting. so crosshair disobeyed orders and shot his superior and was taken to some medical facility associated with the empire’s efforts to take control of cloning and experiment and all that right? and cody, well cody in episode 3 didn’t *exactly* disobey orders but did not immediately execute the order he was given by his superior, an order that was ultimately carried out by crosshair. what if cody was taken to that facility. because he, like crosshair in ep12, stepped out of line. AND WHAT THEN?????!! who knows man. so many things could happen. so many terrible things GOD, FUCKING DAMNIT DAVE anyyywayyyyys i want the best for cody i love this man please let this theory not be true

HOLY KRIFFING HUTT-SPAWN YOU GUYS.

First of all, DAMN YOU Kevin Kiner. DAMN YOU Jennifer Corbett. DAMN YOU Brad Rau. That was a masterpiece.

SECONDLY... SPOILERS + PREDICTIONS below:

THEY'RE GONNA CLONE CROSSHAIR.

They're gonna clone him on Mount Tantiss on Weyland, then send the [brainwashed, evil] clone after Omega.

He's gonna show up to the Batch unarmed, in surrender, confessing his change of heart and desire to join them.

Then he's gonna use that access to kidnap Omega and take her to the Empire.

Then the real Crosshair's gonna show up when the Batch is charging in to rescue Omega, and he's going to fight on their side, but they're gonna be insanely confused cause... which Crosshair do they shoot?

WHAT IF THEY MAKE A MISTAKE?!

Dank Ferrik. I'm gonna need to double up on the Zoloft.

ALSO. Love the allusion to Rex in this episode -- "In my book, experience outranks everything."

Love Mayday using Crosshair's own words too -- "We were good soldiers. We followed orders." And look where it got them.

Love Crosshair's increasing cracking and breaking, from the blinding flash from the ship explosion to the connection while he's on the pressure mine to the cuddling in the ice and snow.

The music was so incredible too.

SO MUCH GOOD STUFF.

The ice vultures were featured pretty prominently. Foreshadowing Crosshair's death (noooo!!!)? Foreshadowing the death of his Imperial allegiance (please!)?

The last half of this season is going to be incredible.

Again, kindness. Crosshair opening up was so precious.

The realization.

This was HEARTBREAKING.

The animators are KILLING IT with the expressiveness. And the bird symbolism... I'm still wondering about that. The vulture = his allegiance to the empire? The death of "Imperial Crosshair" drawing near? Or foreshadowing his character's ultimate doom? UGH.
