it was never about trust. they're brothers. they don't leave their own behind. they gave each other chance after chance even after having been betrayed so many times.

so no, it's not about trust. it's about the pain that is so personal. they hurt each other in ways no one else ever could, and no one else could ever fix. they throw everything they've got at each other, they know each others greatest weakness and insecurities and fears. a lot of things they don't mean, but they have to say, because it's the only way to get an honest reaction from the other. so they can be vulnerable again and open and that's when they can start to really forgive each other.

theres a hint of "i want you to feel my pain" in every vicious accusation. we, as the audience, know exactly what they each have been through in their time apart, but they don't.

they owe each other a lot of explanations and apologies, but first, all their pent up anger and hurt needs to come out.

Crosshair & Echo have a heart-to-heart after the mission on Barton IV. Maybe things aren’t as different between them as Crosshair had feared.

Spoilers tbb s3 e5+6!

Hunter is the dad, but Crosshair has so much overprotective brother energy. The "Oh, I'm much worse"? The little "Too bad" after Omega told him he doesn't like the idea of him going alone? That's peak sibling stuff. Same energy I have with my younger sister.

Kei kona Ā wairua tonu ahau mo Ake tonu Atu/ I am there by you in spirit, always and forever.

It's a Maori proverb that my best friend taught me and always helps me to remember when we're going through tough times; it's something we hold onto and gives us comfort. 

Wairua refers to the soul or spirit, that special thing that is in all of us and connects us to god, the universe, or higher power, our guides, and our ancestors. It's about the connection we feel for loved ones who are far away or no longer here and how we still feel them with us every day. It is a bond of love that cannot be broken.

I made this little illustration for my friend to cheer him up. Back then, he was going through hard times. We share the same love for Crosshair; when the Outpost episode came out, he was hospitalized. We always share our opinions on the episodes that come out every week; that week and the following weeks felt horrible. When he was in recovery at his home, we caught up on the series, and when he met Mayday, Mayday immediately became one of his favourite characters.

It's been a year since The Outpost came out, and now with The Return, those words have gained more weight. Still, even though Mayday is gone, what he meant to Crosshair and how he touched his life and changed it will always be with him.
