Winter Event Announcement/ Masterlist

Welcome to Newt's Winter fic event. It's going to be a smaller event, but I want to do this as a thank you for 100 followers. Starting In December I will be posting some winter themed fics, I can't promise one every day, but I will be trying to write a few for the month. Godzilla Minus One won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, sending a stunned Takashi Yamazaki (VFX supervisor), Kiyoko Shibuya (VFX director), Masaki Takahashi (3D CG director), and Tatsuji Nojima (VFX artist/compositor) to the Dolby Theatre stage. Said Yamazaki, reading from prepared comments in English, "To someone so far from Hollywood, the possibility of standing on this stage seemed out of reach." I could scarcely believe what I was watching myself, despite having given a presentation for a Wikizilla stream mere hours before on Minus One's very real chances of beating more expensive American contenders. Everything I said about its nomination goes triple for its victory; we'll be talking about this one forever. To those of us who remember when Godzilla was basically a joke in the American consciousness (including my Wikizilla colleague Darthlord1997, who had a speech of his own prepared), it's the ultimate vindication.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Takashi Yamazaki directed an ad for Ajinomoto about food waste which released this week. It features the unsubtly-named Foodlosslla attacking Tokyo and facing an Ultraman-esque defense team. As with Minus One, the ad's visuals are a clever combination of high-end (a detailed CG monster) and low-end (dropping plastic fruit on top of fleeing extras).

Last year, the 4Kids Flashback podcast interviewed Mike Pecoriello, producer and writer for the company's renditions of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Ultraman Tiga, and he delivered some major news about the latter. Although only 23 episodes of Tiga aired in the U.S., 4Kids dubbed the whole thing. At the time of the podcast's recording, he thought he made copies of all the episodes, but while that doesn't seem to be the case, he did provide 4Kids Flashback with the series finale. It's a good deal more serious than the episodes which aired, with the quips kept to a minimum. Let the hunt for the rest commence!

SciFi Japan has details on Kaiju Yarrow, a Japanese comedy doubling as a tourism ad for the city of Seki. The premise is very self-aware:

KAIJU YARROW! is set in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. One day, 30 year old Ichiro Yamada, who works in the tourism department of a government office, is ordered by the mayor to produce a "local film.'' However, Yamada, didn't want to produce the typical "mediocre local movies'' that are everywhere nowadays, so he comes up with the idea of making a "monster movie'', which has been his life-long dream. However, his dreams develops into a major incident involving the city government...! Will Yamada be able to complete his life goal of making a monster movie??

Junichiro Yagi will direct; YouTuber Gunpee will star. Unknown quantities both when it comes to kaiju, so how this will turn out is anyone's guess.

Tickets for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire have gone on sale in the U.S.—and as a reminder, the brief GKIDS theatrical release of The End of Evangelion wraps tomorrow.

2K Followers Celebration 🎉

Hey guys! I'm sorry for the slight delay in releasing the 2K celebration stuff 😅 And since my first announcement that we have broken through 2K Followers milestone, we already have 135 more new members to our community here on Tumblr! 🥳

Last month, for 1K Followers milestone, I do a Characters QnA sessions, which, if you missed them are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

“I don’t know how you’re not sweating bullets, Barber,” Mike commented with a laugh as he pulled his handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed his forehead as the two men waited at the door, “you were fucking his daughter just last month and you look cool as a cucumber.”

“I’m not intimidated by a man,” Andy chuckled, shaking his head, “you forget the type of people we face in a courtroom, Mike. One rich guy doesn’t scare me.”

The door opened to a smiling, young face instead of the harsh older one of Kenji Takashi that Andy had expected. And Andy’s brows furrowed. But she seemed happy enough to see them, “good evening gentlemen. Kenny will be down in a few minutes. But come in.”

“Calla, it’s so good to see you,” Mike grinned, stepping in before Andy. He put his handkerchief back in his pocket, seemingly relieved that he was greeted by her and not the man Andy had expected. He greeted her with a large hug, “how are you doing tonight? How’s the baby? Getting stronger every day?”

“Good, good,” she giggled sweetly. Andy gave her a look as he stepped past her, “Mommy and baby are doing fine!”

“Oh, you’re with child?” Andy asked, eyes wide, suddenly startled by the fact that she was pregnant. She definitely didn’t look it. Andy tried to think in his mind if River had mentioned having a sibling, “I didn’t know. Congratulations. I bet Mr. Takashi is just ecstatic to be having a grandchild.”

“He’s praying for a little boy,” she giggled happily, “said if he has another little girl like River, he’ll lose his mind.”

“Y-you’re?”

“His wife…not his daughter,” she smiled. Andy paled, but she only giggled, “don’t worry about it. I get that all the time. I know…I am a little on the young side…but me and Kenny make it work.”

“Someone’s got to keep him in line,” Mike teased. She laughed and nodded along, “do you need any help with anything?”

“Oh, god no. Please, sit down. Relax,” she smiled, gesturing to the wide-open floor plan of their living room, “do you gentlemen want anything to drink?”

“I love a good scotch!”

“You and Kenny both,” she laughed, “uhm, Andy, right? Come help me? I don’t want to be a klutz and if I know Kenny he’ll want his glass, and then the bottle left out.”

“Yeah…sure.”

Without much more of a word, Andy followed the young woman into the kitchen where she had opened a cabinet and pulled a bottle of scotch, “The rocks glasses are in that shelf to your left.”

Andy grabbed the glasses, “uh, do you want one for yourself as well?”

“I’m sticking to water,” she replied, gesturing to a tall, thin glass that was on the counter, “so, Andy…I know Kenny will probably mention something a little later, but I’m going to ask now…as I’ve seen you with her…my stepdaughter.”

“We-we aren’t together,” Andy stuttered, completely surprised at her forwardness, “River and I-“

“Oh, I know,” she nodded, cutting him off, “I was at the gala where the two of you disappeared. And then again at the mayor’s ball with Kenji until we left early because I felt ill…”

“We-“

“I am not stupid, Andy,” she said, cutting him off, “I know that Kenny turns a blind eye to it, because he likes the idea you more than any of her other exes, but I won’t. I know that River doesn’t see me as a parental figure, because we are so close in age, so I’ll say this as one of her friends…because we were before Kenny and I got married…do not fuck with her heart, Andrew Barber. I may just be Kenny’s wife, but I can make your life very difficult if you fuck with her.”

“Excuse me?”

“She may not seem like it, but River tucks things away, emotionally, and I can see that she has feelings for you,” she replied, pouring the scotches, “she didn’t bat an eye when she found Ransom with our other friend, but she nearly drank herself into a depression when you dumped her…and after such a short time…she and Ransom have been on and off for years…but you were the one that affected her.”

“I don’t think we should be having this conversation, Mrs. Takashi!”

“You’re right,” she nodded, “and that’s why it’s not a conversation, Mr. Barber. It’s a warning. I know River doesn’t see me as her friend anymore, but I’ve been trying to help her relationship with her father…and I’ve been telling Kenny good things about you. That’s why you were invited tonight, along with Mike. He wanted to meet you.”

“You-“

“Honey?” an older man’s voice called from the other room, effectively ending the conversation, “where are you?”

“Grabbing Mike and you a scotch, and something for Mr. Barber…did you want something other than a scotch, Kenny?” she asked sweetly.

“Scotch is fine,” he replied warmly, “bring the bottle with you. Mike, Mr. Barber, and I have a lot of business to discuss after dinner.”

“Of course, honey!” she called back. Then she looked at Andy, “I’m only sticking my neck out for River because she deserves this happiness…don’t fuck it up because you two are both too stubborn. Yes?”

“So, tell me about yourself, Andrew?” Kenji asked as he tipped back another scotch, “I like knowing the men I go into business with.”

“Andy here is phenomenal,” Mike said drunkenly, “Best DA I’ve ever had.”

“I’m the only DA he’s ever had,” Andy chuckled, “I’m the one that took over for him.”

The men shared in a round of laughter, but Kenji was the first one to calm down, “I’m not talking about work, Mr. Barber.”

Andy frowned, “excuse me?”

“I know that you are the ‘unknown man’ from the pictures in the tabloids,” he said firmly. Mike, who was far too drunk to really be part of the conversation stared drunkenly between the two men, “you’re the unknown man who was taking my daughter in her car.”

Andy sobered up instantly, “Mr. Takash-“

His lips pursed together as he looked at him, “call me, Kenji, Andrew…”

“Kenji, I-your daughter and I-“

“I’d been seeing more photos lately of that weasel with my daughter once again, and I hoped that it was just old news that they were using to stir up some drama,” he groaned, “thought once I had Calla pay a visit to their little friend, and he cheated on her, that it would be over.”

“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint, Kenji.”

“I’m sorry to hear about that, Andrew,” he said sadly, “I quite liked the idea of my daughter finally growing up.”

“Time for you to grow up, River…” Andy smirked as he put his hands on either side of her chair. River shuddered as Andy dropped to his knees, “and I think I’m going to teach you a lesson in self-control today.”

“A-Andy…someone could walk in…p-please…”

“They deserve to see you like this,” Andy growled, his eyes locked onto her lace covered core. He moaned as he pressed a firm kiss to her inner thigh, inhaling deeply.
