I love ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga so damn much!!!! I know there’s some valid criticism of it but I can’t help but be pulled in by the story. And I especially love Sweety because her character seems so passive but really she has a steel core. Like when she’s talking to Sahil about her brother berating her for being with Kuhu and then in the next breath she says she started secretly going to Delhi to meet her despite her brother’s rage…what a badass. That’s someone with a backbone, someone who loves herself and who believes in herself and who knows that being gay is natural.

#Idk I know some people were like this movie is for straight people #But idk I just never tire of a good coming out narrative #Also for Indians specifically this story was huge #And yeah some of it was for straight people but some of it was for gay people too #Like me trying to find Indian wlw stories #I can count them on one hand #It reminds me of 15 yrs ago when I watched pretty much every show ft wlw #Because there were so few of those around #Anyway rant over #sweety x kuhu #ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga

Thinking about all the “love at first interaction” couples in this movie.

Sweety and Kuhu fell in love while Kuhu was trying to hook her up with her brother until she realized Sweety’s gay.

Sahil fell in love with Sweety when she criticized his play for the shallow love story.

Balbir fell in love with Chatro when she complimented his cooking and gave him a tip.

Did y’all really think this would happen without Kuhu and Sweety being my top ship? Still salty that people let this movie flop, because it is so fucking important that it was able to have been made, honestly your loss.

2. Elena Alvarez x Syd (One Day At A Time)

They’re just two little nerds in love who keep doing all this cute shit for each other, and like, they’re kinda’ the most realistic/relatable ship from this list and I wish I had been able to have a ship like this on-screen when I was younger.

3. Anissa Pierce x Grace Choi // ThunderGrace (Black Lightning)

Of course the world’s best power couple is going to be on this list, don’t @ me on this.

4. Keelin x Freya // Freelin (The Originals)

The only LGBT ship from this wretched universe to truly make it. They were endgame without having to die together (Noralise) or finding each other in the afterlife (JoshxAiden). I genuinely still can’t believe that they were able to get married and like, allude to the fact that they’re gonna have kids and like, they just get to live happily ever after and that just makes me really emotional.

5. Amaya Jiwe x Zari Tomaz // Amari (Legends of Tomorrow)

I WAS TRYING TO FIND THE ICONIC ‘TOTEMS LIGHT UP CUZ THEY’RE SOULMATES’ GIF, BUT THIS WAS THE CLOSEST I COULD GET TO IT!!! Look, I know that Amari isn’t ‘canon’ but they are to me, just like, the way their dynamic was written I feel like can easily be seen as romantic.

6. Sara Lance x Ava Sharpe // Avalance (Legends of Tomorrow)

No shit true love’s kiss is gonna’ be on here. I LOVED Avalance from the get-go, like, the whole time they were leading up to the hiatus in Season 3, I was literally just chanting ‘oh they’re gonna’ get together aren’t they? like they better, but they are’ in my head until they got some proper content.

7. Kelly x Alex // Dansen (Supergirl)

Dansen is cute as fuck and y’all need to stop sleeping on them.

8. Earth 2 Dinah Laurel Lance x Dinah Drake // DinahSiren // Dinah^2 (The Canary Show)

Listen, Dinah and Laurel’s development from enemies to frenemies to friends to literally being married is iconic and literally my favourite trope in the history of tropes. They will get together, I’m putting it out into the universe, so they will happen.

9. Alice x Robin // MadArcher (Once Upon A Time)

MadArcher is one of my more underrated ships just because I ship them, but I never actually ended up getting into the fandom or anything. I just loved them together, I thought they were really good, their meet-cute was a lot like Snowing’s which was definitely a pleasant surprise. I wish we could’ve gotten another season of them, OUAT Season 7 was unworthy of the slander that it received and I will die screeching about it.

10. Nora Hildegard x Mary Louise // Noralise (The Vampire Diaries)

Noralise is yet another one of my more underrated ships because they were handled so poorly by the writer on TVD. The actresses actually had chemistry, and I was super excited about their narrative because I genuinely believe that there was so much to work with there, and they just had unnecessary drama and got killed off.

11. Bonnie Bennett x Rebekah Mikaelson // Bonbekah (The Vampire Diaries)

Um, so this is the crackiest of crack ships cuz these two never even had a single fucking scene together, but Bonbekah could’ve been great and I will forever stand by that.

One of the things I noticed on my recent rewatch of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is the runaway scene with Sweety and Sahil paralleling Sweety and Kuhu fare dodging. Sweety/Sahil’s was part of Sahil falling in love at first sight with Sweety while Kuhu/Sweety was just another chapter in their love story.

It’s something that I’m not sure they did intentionally but that I love when I notice in different media’s that normalization of LGBT love stories with hetero ones. This casual way of showing that we fall in love and enjoy the same experiences.
