I am still very much amused by the fact that Eddie’s response to Buck going full green monster was to ask Marisol to move in with him!

Man in a Suitcase: Sweet Sue (1.7, ITC, 1967)
"Oh, you're a detective! A cheap, prying, flat-footed peephole specialist."
"I'm not cheap."
#man in a suitcase#sweet sue#1967#itc#classic tv#robert tronson#phillip broadley#richard bradford#judy geeson#george a. cooper#david cole#peter blythe#ian mcculloch#jacqueline pearce#terence donovan#lewis teasdale#john clive#not an episode i really remembered anything about‚ which could be a bad sign‚ but actually this proves to be a very solid ep on rewatch#the third ep in production‚ but the shifted transmissions mean that really this is the first time we see McGill on an ordinary (ie. without#personal stakes) case (even Sitting Pigeon involved him being blackmailed into taking the assignment). it means we get to see a slightly#different side of Bradford's performance; he's more laid back throughout much of this episode‚ even clearly having fun in some of the#earlier scenes. of course it all builds to a typically violent showdown (a truly brutal fistfight and a classic bloodied McGill). Bradford#was deeply involved in arranging and producing these fights but developed a reputation for being a little too rough‚ worrying some of the#other actors; he was also responsible for the graphic makeup and wound effects that he apparently applied himself. a strong supporting cast#includes a young Geeson (just 19 and at the start of an impressive career) and Cole and Blythe make for good sneery public schoolboy types#albeit both are just a little old for the part (both in their 30s in roles clearly intended to be closer to Geeson's age). director Tronson#had already heard horror stories about Bradford but in the end the two got on very well (and both wrote kindly of the other in later life)#it was from around this time that Lew Grade (as well as American financiers from ABC) began to keep a closer eye on production‚ concerned#by reports of Bradford's difficulty and deviations from scripts. but it doesn't show here‚ in a well directed and punchily scripted ep

What I think WoF does really well with its protagonists is creating characters that readers can relate to. I think each and every one is shaped in a way where somebody can heavily resonate with at least one. It could be the shy and anxious characters like Moon, Turtle, and Cricket. It could be the more firey and lively characters like Tsunami and Glory, who aren't afraid to speak their mind. Even characters like Winter, Peril, Sundew, Snowfall, Luna, etc I find people heavily relating to.
Which I find quite nice. A lot of the themes and messaging around WoF is that of anti-war and standing up for what's right, but also with how friends really help you a lot. A lot of the characters grow and learn to be better through forming friendships with other outcasts. They form their own tight bond, where they care and support one another. It's hard to see a character whose arc wasn't impacted by forming a bond with another person. That they can, and should, be themselves and that they're at their best when they're okay. The power of friendship and all, yeah, but I find it sweet

Artist in the Family (1/1) (jegulus)
"Papa! Papa! Look! I drew you a picture." Harry called as little feet scurried across the entry way.
Regulus looked up from his desk in the family room, and turned in his chair just in time for his little boy to crash into his legs and flop a picture in his lap.
"Wow! C'est magnifique!" Regulus praised.
Pudgy little hands pointed to the people coloured on the page. "C'est moi, et toi, and dad, and look look le petit chien!" Harry jumped around as he spoke.
"I think this one should go on the fridge, yes?" James called from the doorway, where he was leaning against the frame.
Regulus picked up Harry and nodded. "Yes I think so," he said as they walked towards the kitchen. "Mon fils l'artiste," he added and Harry smiled brightly.
"How was the rest of your day, love?" Regulus asked as he set Harry on the counter and put the drawing on the fridge with a little star magnet.
Harry rambled on about playing outside and learning a new sharing song and how he got to be line-leader today, as they started to prepare dinner together.
Regulus listened and nodded along, but couldn't help but think about how he and James had the chance to raise a little human and support him in whatever he wanted to do. There would be no squashing dreams, and here he got to celebrate pictures of their family and whatever it meant to do the happy-chart and revel in the joy that filled his son and poured over into his own heart.
