also thinking about the tragedy that is the way anakin, buried under years of vader, is still just a child seeking approval and respect.
by the time we reach anh, vader hasn’t (visibly) thought about obi wan in years. why, when he was so utterly obsessed just nine years prior?
because all anakin has ever wanted was to be respected, his actions and especially his character approved of. and the second the emperor questions his ability, his worth, due to his obsession with obi wan, anakin simply drops it. just like that. because palpatine is threatening to withdraw his respect and approval and vader, anakin, will do anything to keep it.
palpatine saw anakin’s weak spot, the one thing he wasn’t getting enough of from the jedi, and he exploited it from day one. and anakin never stood a chance. because at the end of the day, he’s still just a 9 year old boy wanting to be treated like someone with value and worth.

love that star wars twitter is losing its mind at the possibility of Ahsoka being stronger then Luke with the simple statement of “And technically, she's had vastly more training then he ever has. She’s his senior, which is difficult for people to remember ‘cause of when these characters were created. So a lot of consideration given to every detail.”

Something I love about Star Wars which makes it so vastly different from any other cohesive story I've ever seen or read is the idea that it reads as history.
As someone studying history, it's almost comparable with the different time periods that events are classified into in (at the least European) history. We have eras.
In history (excluding prehistory naturally) there are three major time periods or eras: the medieval era, the early modern era and the modern era.
Star Wars also has three significant time periods. The Prequel Era, the Original Era and the Sequel Era, often classified as other things (below), but it's pretty clear that the time periods in history and in Star Wars can be compared.
(PREQUEL ERA is also known as: The Clone Wars Era, The Rise of the Empire)
(ORIGINAL ERA is also known as: Rebels Era, the Empire Era, the Rebellion Era)
(SEQUEL ERA is also known as: The First Order Era, the Resistance Era.)
I just found this pretty cool because it really shows the extent of SW's lore, most franchises don't have anywhere near this level of history or legacy!

This is why people get disappointed. 1. Not everyone is related to (or IS) another character. Sometimes characters are their own people. 2. The storyline isn’t ridiculously convoluted. Seriously, how is a kid supposed to follow this without asking 1000 questions in the theater or get bored and check out? #StarWars #TheCloneWars #Jedi #Sith #Hero #Villain #ThePhantomMenace #SWTPM #AttackOfTheClones #SWAotC #RevengeOfTheSith #SWRotS #ANewHope #SWANH #TheEmpireStrikesBack #SWESB #ReturnOfJedi #SWRotJ #SWBF2 #TheForceAwakens #SWTFA #TheLastJedi #SWTLJ #TheRiseOfSkywalker #SWTRoS #TheoriesGenerallySuck https://www.instagram.com/p/B0cbZnig4Qy/?igshid=33nwogar0pmp
