All the Snicket name choices could be sorta explained by the Snicket familly weird tradition of naming their kids in alphabetical order.

That means that when Jacob and E. Snicket were expecting their first son they had to choose a boy's name starting with the letter J (and since is taboo for most jewish comunities to name a child over someone who is still living Jacob was out of question). So if you want a commom but not super common boy name with J is not that much of a reach they choose a french name without being French.

Same goes for Kit. They wanted a girl's name with K and Katherine is as classic as it goes. Till this point it just appear they like classic names that aren't too weird but also not too common either.

But than we have Lemony and my hc is that the parents were having to many missions/trouble with the twins that they didn't sit beforehand to choose a name. So suddently they had a baby in the dairy factory and maybe they went to a hospital afterwards (hopefully) or even just home but someone asked the name of the baby and they went FUUUCK and had to come up with a name on spot. It had to be a L name. And in their panicky state E looked at the twins and Jacques was drinking a pink lemonade and she though "Lemon' and pointed to Jacob that noded and answered "Lemony". After that until the moment of their deaths they would look very embarrassed to all the Luccas and Liams and all the diferent ways of creating Leos (not at Lukes though cause Luke is too common).

There’s something that’s been bugging me for ages about Marcelino and I could never quite grasp it until right now in this chapter when he quoted Ursula’s “and don’t underestimate the importance of body language” line from poor unfortunate souls.

I fully believe that Marcelino was originally written as a Gay Best Friend™. I have never seen a single adult man not only quote Ursula but the body language line who wasn’t a dogged homosexual. And when you realise that, literally everything else about his character comes neatly into perspective as the GBF™ stereotype. My theory is that someone in PB offices took a look at his character and was like “isn’t that a little reductive? aren’t we past this?” so the writing team changed his sexuality and slapped in a pregnant wife character as their way of fixing the problem.

not sure how i feel about the show not addressing rand's agency horror yet, at three-quarters of the way through all currently completed episodes. not only is that the defining conflict of this character, but it's also something he'd been exposed to quite a bit by this point in the books

Deltarune Theory: Spamton, The Player & Freedom

As some of you might know by my occassional ramblings and the fact that i post 10 pics of the guy per day bc of my 100+ queue I've been a little unwell about Spamton and Deltarune as a whole lately, and recently while trying to ramble about a different topic I realized something:

I think we, the player, the soul, are a bigger part of this game that we are giving credit for.

After all, what are some of the main themes of Deltarune? Lack of freedom, lack of control, how your choices don't matter... And if we look on a smaller scale, if we look at characters like Kris and Spamton you can also add to the mix a certain level of disconnect with your own body, but maybe i'm going too off topic there... (maybe?)

This is to say, don't you think these things apply quite well to the soul, to us, too? Sure, we control Kris, but Kris is free of ripping us out temporarily and often adds their own input to the things we ask them to say (and even says things on their own), not to mention how they get around to avoid doing what we asked or avoid revealing certain information to us.

On top of that, there's our vessel. The body we were meant to have and freely use, that was, in theory, discarded. And i think this is very imporant because many pick up on Kris being trapped with us, but not as much on us being trapped with KRIS. What we have is an uneassy alliance, a sort of symbiotic relationship, we need one another to exist. But we still aren't free.

And this is where Spamton comes in, our EV3RY BUDDY 'S FAVORITE [[Number 1 Rated Salesman1997]] and number 1 freedom yearning puppet, who offers us the highly valued [Hyperlink Blocked] which he believes will carry one to freedom and such.

And it is true that freedom is something Kris might want, but don't forget Kris isn't the only one in control of their body. We too are the ones going straight back to that salesman and doing his little quest.

And this is even more true in the Weird Route, the route where we strip all control from Kris AND Noelle to the point she can only hear us talking, and it's the route where Spamton says at the end "IT’S YOU AND THAT [Hochi Mama]! YOU’VE BEEN [making], HAVEN’T YOU! YOU’VE BEEN MAKING [Hyperlink Blocked]!".

And if you, like me, believe the meaning of [Hyperlink Blocked] is LOVE, then this would make a lot of sense, after all, what were some of the biggest complaints people had about chapter 1 when it released?

Lack of multiple routes, namely a genocide one, and lack of control.

And Toby Fox, being the monkey paw ass guy he is, obligued to the fans request. You want control? You want murder? Okay, there you go.

Not only that, but the weird route is the only one where Spamton never learns Kris' name, only called them kid, making the fact that Kris has nothing to do with our insane rampage even more explicit.

And on top of everything, Spamton was right. We did in fact gain control and a certain level of freedom thanks to this, our choices, the player choices, now REALLY mattered. And the consequences were devastating, hell, even Spamton died here.

So, with all this said, I think my point has become clear. I think our role in the story is very significant, and it even perfectly ties with the themes and the existing characters.

Very excited to see this develop further as more chapters come out 😁

hey guys first jrwi post is riptide oc hah eahh w His name is Gravel!! he is an artificer/druid cryptozoologist pirate, based on a winghead shark, mechanically a triton w/ extra bite attack. (more Lore below)

He’s a very carefree and cheerful guy!! just don’t wrong him or you might be swimming in shark infested waters :-] He goes around researching cryptids: documents them, interviews people who have sighted them, evidence collecting etc. He has a journal with all his records and notes, makes artists impressions of cryptids according to the information he's collected and would probably be part of a cryptozoologist enthusiast club. he also occassionally publishes his findings to like a small subscription magazine!! crpytid facts, sightings, stories etc. Tends to get very tunnel visioned over his own goals As for pirating, he usually hitchhikes on other pirate ships to get around and helps them out in return. He'll do whatever to get his goal as long as it doesn't impact himself negatively or harms others to an extreme (like Torture is a nono), things like helping during ship battles or stealing from other ships, chores around the chip etc. If things ever start to go south he simply Leaves lol he would join a crew if they were in on his cryptid endeavours he’s originally from Liquidis, but travels around often (a lot between Liquidis and Joaldo, also visits off-radar islands to cryptid hunt), doesn’t like to stay in one place for more than a week

Have a poor child at work whose initials are “B.O.”, so I have gotten a few emails with subjects like “Meeting about B.O.”

It throws me every time.
