I accidentally butt pressed the youtube notifications icon on my phone that I had building up since the start of the year, so looks like I gotta go through them now before they become tears in the rain *edit which they have now cause I guess you can only see notifications up to a month :( I at least took this screenshot before that happened and know I have lots of subscribed channels to just check directly for all that I missed for the past few months and will post the goods here accordingly. as far as comments on my own videos go.... guess I’ll just have to sweep through my own channel to catch back with all of them? wish there was a better system to go through this stuff but this is youtube we’re talking about so yea... tbh I know the notifications tab doesn’t show everything so looking on pages directly seems to be the best thing to do anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can you recommend your favourite sword-and-sandal movies?

if Steve Reeves was in it, I probably watched it and had a good time. everyone's got legs for days in those movies, and I think the costuming choices are fun!

more specifically tho: The Avenger/La leggenda di Enea (The Legend of Aeneas) and Hercules/Le Fatiche di Ercole (The Labours of Hercules)

searching 'peplum' films on youtube should give you like, so many of these films

that aside, I'd recommend looking up Steve Reeve/other popular sword and sandal actors' acting credits and checking out whatever sounds most fun. they've got everything. You like biblical antiquity? They got biblical antiquity! You want the Trojan War? They got the Trojan War! just. be sure uhhhhhhhhh to watch them some of them with a critical eye.

special mentions to Ben Hur (1959) and Cleopatra (1963), which are actually epics, but I'm throwing them in here because they're so heavily fictionalized in their visuals that it's sword and sandal adjacent to me.

#there's a really shitty (different) cleopatra movie that did something FASCINATING with antony and octavian #that i cant stop thinking about it. if i remember what it's called i'll add it to the list #like it is terrible but it's also an incredibly fascinating take on cleopatra that i prefer to most iterations of her #a lot of these are available on youtube btw. sometimes you have to look them up under their italian release name tho #ask tag #(deep sighing) i got way too serious in the tags talking about the history of italian cinema and ancient rome in global pop culture #like its not that i think these are inherently fascist bc of the complex history of cinema in italy #but it's also not. value neutral. bc there's other stuff going on with it thematically #there was a text that was talking about sword and sandal movies and military glorification or whatever #anyway im just. closing that topic now. im too tired to get into it beyond that. blah.

am i tripping or did there used to be a tmnt human au fic that was.. ahem.. set in hiroshima during the bombing…… i remember coming across it yeeeears ago, and simply skimming through it out of curiosity. if my memories serves me right, the boys were separated by the blast, i think splinter was killed and it was about them surviving the aftermath of it all…. i haven’t gone to search if this fic still exists, mostly because morally? is that even right??? did i dream this or did anyone else read this fic back in the day…

MY dad had Off The Deep End on cassette tape and poodle hat on cd. is weird al just dad music that eventually gets passed on to their children through osmosis

Monster High has gotten like a reboot (people are calling it Gen3), and I'm only discovering this, like, right now.

I don't know a lot about it, only for the fact that Draculaura now does witchcraft (and for some reason, it's considered taboo in the monster community...?!). And this has brought some old memories of mine to surface of an old lost media anime with a vampire-witch girl as the protagonist...

Yes! Sue-chan from Vampiyan Kids (previously titled as Nanchatte! Vampiyan)! I knew I wasn't crazy! Plus, the artstyle is heavily similar to Yobarete! Tobidete! Akubi-chan, another obscure Magical Girl anime (surely, both share the designer and the animation studio).

I like to make music and experiment with instruments #but like I've never been in a band fandom or or been to concert or cared about anything in a pop culture type way) I just have like #a list of some hyper specific songs with specific tones that I listen to like 400x in a row until I get tired of them and then #choose to listen to somehting else 400x in a row until I enetually circle back to one of the ones I already listened to 400x in a row #I rarely ever put music on in the backgroudn while doing things or treat it as an activity it's more of like.. a fixation or something #I go through 'music phases' where I just feel like listening to music as an ativity for a little while and then dont again for a few months #and when I do it's like the same songs 400x in a row again but gyhbhj #or sometimes cycles through a few songs or something but all on repeat #NONE of which are ever like related to each other in any way but are jus what my brain wants to hear 4998898 times for some reason #my most recent music phase rotation was - 'moses fantasy' by paganini. 'luxury' azaleia banks. the fucking charles darwin natural selection #song from horrible histories. rock the casbah??? (idk why for a few days i just wanted to hear it ghhj). the succession opening theme.#'Ludacrismas' even though it's the middle of summer. and 'I just wanna dance with you' - starpoint..lol..
