uhhh can I still ask for Riddle and or Idia be given the Four Sword somehow. The sword that can split the wielder into four aka FOUR RIDDLES AND OR IDIAS :D
So I went on google to research :'3
Found 2 interesting things.
This logo that looks like Idia's tablet logo
Tumblr media
2. This paragraph on the sword abilities
Tumblr media
dunno anything about Zelda games, but damn this was a miss
I bring these up, bc the first one seemed funny. The other one is something that I would like to actually use if we are gonna hypothetically gib these 2 the sword.
Now for the cases:
Riddle's case:
If he came to have the 4 sword, it would be Ace's nightmare. The 3 different Riddles I think would split from the original would be his most proeminent emotions. Riddle is a very emotional guy at the base, so I see the sword splitting that up in 3.
The 3 emotions I would think of are:
Anger(pray for Ace :'3)-in an orange-y fire palette. He has a much stronger attack than og Riddle, but his defence is little to none. His name would be Ro.
Sadness(this one doesn't do a lot since he cries so much)-Blue all the way for this one. His gimmick is that he's great at escaping and pushing away enemies, more versatile in situations that require terrain use. For the name, I fell on Remi.
Love(be it platonic or romantic, this one is a cuddlebug)- Very barbie-pink in terms of palette. This one is set on protecting everyone. not the best attacks, but an impeccable defense. As a name, his given one would be Riri, bc it sounds cute. :'3
Of course, being clones, they are dissapearing when og Riddle runs out of energy, but they are meant to complement each other and as such, making the og actually the versatile one.
For interactions, I see that Ro is very set on beating Ace up. Remi is just sitting in a corner and being all gloomy and sad, thus no one can actually do smth about it. And Riri is the peace-maker for either the Riddles or other people. He has that nice way of expressing affection, ya know. :v
Idia's case:
I bolded in Riddle's case that he gets split by emotions. Well, It's important here, bc unlike Riddle, Idia's clones resemble stages of his own life in terms of mentality. Baiscally, Idia's 3 clones are split by Idia's different views along time. Thus we have another kind of chaos, since these 4 can't see eye to eye enymore.
The 3 views I thought of are:
Innocence(the only happy guy I guess :'3)- This one stems from before the incident, thus is an Idia who always wants to go on adventures. A bit rushed, but he has the spirit, ya know? :'3 His primary collor would be bright purples, while his name would be Idy, bc if u know, u know U-Ub
Denial/Delusion(oh this one is difficult)- post the incident, thus this one is used to dissassociate and always deny bad things. For him, nothing bad ever happens, because he doesn't want to admit it. For a name, I came up with Ei, because it's short. Along that, his colors are always in tones of grey, despite his very 'outgoing' personality :v
Uncaring/Feral(a personal favorite)- Filter? wut that? This one has absolutely no shame or self preservation. Want to burn the school down? He's already doing it. A menace and he knows it. He just doesn't care about outside opinions anymore. WILL BITE TOO. Unlike the other 2, this one has different shades of green and even warpaint marks on face, bc why tf not??? He was names Dante, but everyone also reffers to him as public enemy no.1.
Ortho is always protected by every version of Idia. Althrough, the Idias themselves have a hard time getting a point across or getting to an agreement. They only agree on smth when it's for Ortho's sake. :'3

My Favorite Daemyra Fanfics
Here's an updated* and better curated list of my (very personal) favorite Daemyra fics, WIPs and finished, in no particular order. I offer a few words on each on them, mostly my own opinions and impressions, please click on them if you want a proper synopsis. Other than 100% finished stories, I tried to stick to fics that either stand on their own despite having room to continue, or are frequently or regularly updated, so there's less chances you get invested in something that might never get a proper ending.
I'll welcome and thank any recs too, ofc, I'm always eager to read new material and depictions of them, especially (almost exclusively, in fact) modern AUs. I'm open to different family dynamics as well, especially siblings, biological or otherwise (I include two great ones here, btw). Currently, I'm leaning toward more mature stories, with a Rhaenyra facing adult conflicts rather than just age gap PWP with feelings. I'm still a smut enjoyer though, don't get me wrong, lmao.
Well, nothing more to add for now, so... here we go!
Back, Baby by velvetwoman: Modern AU. Heart-wrenching, but beautiful one-shot. It's kinda finished, the ending is really bittersweet, but author promised a follow-up that hasn't come out, though I refuse to lose hope just yet (I just need to believe, please let me be). It features underage sex, so be warned.
entropy by firecollide: Modern AU. WIP. Musical references, especially Arctic Monkeys. Starts as a texting fic, and turns into a Daemon/Rhaenyra POV multichapter piece. They get together/fall in love quite fast, although it gets quite angsty at a point and remains like that. I only recommend if you're patient and want more than just fluff and smut, character growth specifically. Best Daemon depiction for me, complicated and heartbreaking, because I do relate to Rhaenyra a lot as well.
Ānogar Hūra by sweetestsorrows (katschako): Modern Mafia AU. Finished. Succession, violence, murder, betrayal, lots and lots and lots of smut. I particularly love how their relationship develops from them getting off on fighting and exasperating one another to them falling in love but keeping that feisty and explosive dynamic in bed. Daemon is a very strong dom in this, though deep down he's a very caring and considerate partner.
Our Violent Ends by grandlovescheme: Vampire AU. Finished. Also modern. Or kind of. The starting point is in canon timeline, but the story stretches across space and time because, of course, our two favs are not exactly mortal anymore. Enemies to lovers trope, and as we all know, those are the type of stories in which the smut is the hottest and most satisfying you could ever hope for. I also strongly recommend all of this author's works, she's very talented and will be appearing again in this list.
Passion driven by ginvael: Modern AU. Finished. This is a really fun fic that involves cheating, a "has his cake and eats it too" version of Daemon that's infuriating and sort of endearing at the same time. Mysaria is a really cool character in this, I personally missed an insight on how her character ended, but the lack of it doesn't really take anything away from the story as a whole, so no biggie.
High Hopes by grandlovescheme: Modern AU. Finished. I'm not quite sure, but I think this is the fic that started a sort of subgenre of Daemyra fics with the "Rhaenyra runs away from home for x reason and finds shelter in her estranged uncle's home" trope. Both characters have their issues and are both beautifully written from beginning to end. It's a very slow burn, but it sure pays off, so your patience will be rewarded.
a safe space / a warm hug by themilkteeth: Modern AU. Finished. Sugar daddy story, but with a different daddy (Daemyra endgame tho, don't get confused). I love how things are described in this, the colors, atmosphere, smells, tastes. Just a one-shot, but it honestly feels like more than that in the end.
If I Could, I'd Get You the Moon by grandlovescheme: Modern AU. Finished. Daemyra are siblings and I've never imagined I'd be into this the way I am, but here we are. The push and pull between these two is "deliriously" fabulous, the smut is hot af, and the way the characters act feels so frustratingly real it hurts me and gives me life at the same time. I'm in love with Rhaenyra in this one, she's not only the gaslight-gatekeep-girlboss we all know and love, she's also unapologetically kinky in such a pure and wholesome way, it's truly fascinating. She's everything, really. Also, Baelon and Alyssa couple goals.
Bad Vibes by sweetestsorrows (katschako): Modern AU. Finished. Twins at college. From the amazing author of Ānogar Hūra, filled with angst, guilt, passion, jealousy and all those equally beautiful and nasty feelings. Another one-shot that feels much more than that and could totally have a follow-up, in my humble opinion.
Violet-Eyed Jealousy by ginvael: Canon Divergence AU. Finished. A pretty interesting premise, with low honor Daemyra going for it despite knowingly hurting Daemon's OC son's feelings. Very twisted and with a bittersweet, partly tragic ending, but definitely worth the time.
Dream a Little Dream of Me by sweetestsorrows (katschako): Incubus AU. Finished. Similar to Vampire AU in that both fics start in canon timeline (this one follows book canon to a T). Daemon is doomed to live for all eternity, never able to find peace until he finds Rhaenyra again to try to make things up to her after all that went down in the war and their tragic canon endings. It's a fascinating story, haunting, emotional and beautiful.

hii, now that u saw the new episode i wanted to ask ur fav ships from the gen 4
OMG HI!!! this turned into a complete ramble i'm very sorry i'm just really hyper and love total drama!!! okay actually i dont ship very much from gen 4 compared to other people i've seen!! the only two ships i'd say i care a lot about are rajbow and prillie which feel like pretty basic answers.
i hope it isn't weird to say that rajbow makes me feel represented in a way and that i feel a connection with it? i'm not a gay man (in fact i'm straight) but i am still lgbt (i'm trans) and seeing total drama do good lgbt representation with two fun, enjoyable characters makes me so happy, especially because total drama is a show that i hold very close to me. i have been a fan of total drama for 13 years and i just have always had very intense feelings about it because total drama genuinely shaped me as a young, impressionable child. this is both a good thing and a bad thing because it is literally total drama but STILL!!! rajbow and zee will probably be the closest i get to feeling represented positively by canonical total drama as a lgbt person and a person with a physical disability, even if my disability is much different than zee's. i will take any good rep for the umbrellas i fall under, even if i may not be part of the exact group being represented under said umbrella. sorry ik zee has nothing to do with this but it just kept nagging me when i put rajbow is the closest i'll come to feeling positively represented because... zee exists and i am disabled.
sorry that the rajbow paragraph became very personal but aside from my connection to total drama as a show, i just think rajbow is fun!! and funny. i giggled a lot when raj left bowie his mouth guard and that letter. i wouldn't say they're my favorite ship in the entire show or anything but i think they mesh well together and their moments feel real in a sense? i don't know if this makes sense to anyone else but i just find rajbow to be one of the more realistic couples on total drama. the way they act reminds me of real teenagers more than a lot of other couples on the show and i like that.
as for prillie, i just tend to get really attached to sapphic couples and got really into them because their arc made me so invested and also they're my two favorite girls in the reboot. they have a lot of sweet moments that would make this post way too long if i described them all. i'm very much a fan of best friends to lovers as well which is a trope that i think fits with them.
OH ALSO WITH RAJBOW AND PRILLIE I AM VERY BIASED BUT MY TOP 4 FAVES IN THE REBOOT HAPPEN TO BE PRIYA, RAJ, MILLIE, AND BOWIE..... especially priya. i am very crazy about priya.
ummm ships i like besides these two are ones i don't care very much for. i think axelle is a cute concept and priyamien is too!! also after watching the leaked episode, i am interested in mkulia and depending on how they act this season i may start to really really love them together. i'm not that big on julia as a character but i was very interested in mk during season 1 and am very excited to see her interacting with people again!!
ghghghgh SORRY THIS IS SO LONG thank you for asking me about literally anything total drama related.

you mentioned that youre reading some of sarah j maas’ books, what do you think about it so far? i read her stories (the acotar series and the tog series) as a younger teen and reread it again recently now that im older. when i learned that youre allowed to criticise a book (i was a blind follower with weak opinions 😅) i found out that there are some readers who arent too fond of her and her writing, it was quite a shock for me cause she used to be my fav author (i read only her books as a preteen 😂). personally, from her books that i’ve read my favourites are throne of glass and crown of midnight (the novellas were really good too)
So I’ve really only read the acotar series so far, so that’s the only one I can comment on (my favorite book was a court of mist and fury, followed by a court of silver flames). There are a bunch of things that I really enjoyed in that series and a bunch of things that annoyed me about it. There will never be an author that every reader agrees about. My favorite living author is John Green, but there are people who criticise/dont enjoy his books. I hate Catcher in the Rye but it’s considered a classic. Different readers are going to resonate with different books more or less and certain things will bug some people more than others. For every author that is someone’s favorite author, there will be a bunch of people who hate them. I think it’s more interesting to look at what book does well and what it doesn’t.
Things I enjoyed about acotar:
1. The main characters, love interests and ensemble casts are great. I really like Feyre and Nesta. They are both flawed and fierce and show real character growth over the series. I love Rhysand. He is pretty much everything I want in a love interest, wings included, haha. I love Azriel and Cassian too. The whole Inner Circle is well drawn and makes you want to read more to find out what happens to them.
2. The romance is great. The whole misunderstood villain/enemies to lovers aspect of Feyre and Rhys is great and made especially compelling because it plays out over such a long time. It’s also some of the most enjoyable smut I’ve found outside of fanfiction.
3. The action scenes are great. When there is a lot happening and things are changing rapidly, it’s very fun to read. Her scene and action description are very immersive and she does a good job of keeping you surprised and invested in the outcome. The scene with the giant worm, the scene in the weaver’s cottage, the battle of Velaris and Nesta in the Blood Rite are all still things that I can picture very clearly in my head.
4. It’s easy to read. And the combination of compelling romance and good action makes it very hard to put down when you’re in the middle of it. So for someone who wants a fun, quick, romance series, I would highly recommend it.
Things that bugged me about acotar:
1. It really needs more editing. The prose on a line by line level is sometimes infuriatingly bad. She will have paragraphs that are just the same sentence written three different ways. There are weird descriptions of internal reactions that get way overused. Like I think Feyre’s “bowels turned watery” at least three times in the first novel alone, which is three times too many. There are long stretches with no action where characters just wander around big houses doing nothing that I found hard to get through.
2. The world building is shallow. There are all these different courts (spring court, fall court, night court, etc) but other than aesthetic differences it’s really not clear how they are in any way culturally or magically different. There are different classes of Fae, but the potential political or social repercussions of that are rarely examined. Some classes of fae are just ugly and bound to serve the pretty High Fae, which is a fairly problematic trope. The villains are rather generically evil without really examining what their motives are. There are characters of different races, but their race has no impact on their character or story arc. Certain cultures like the Illyrians are written as fairly monolithic except for our few “enlightened” main characters.
3. The stuff around gender is not great. One of my favorite booktokers (pagemelt) explained this better than I can, but the whole series and potentially all of Sarah J Mass’s writing, suffers from what she calls “gender essentialism”. All the women are small and thin and young and beautiful, and they might be warriors, but they never overpower the main male characters. The men are all large and strong with giant *ahem* “wingspans”. The male love interests are all much older than the female love interests (like centuries older) and vastly overpower them in both physical and magical abilities and familiarity with the world around them. SJM frequently uses the terms male and female in descriptions such as “he gave her a male smirk” or “looked at her with a male gaze”. I think because she wants to emphasize that they are Fae and not humans, she always uses the terms male and female instead of man and woman, but it creates an atmosphere where the terms male and man always mean the same thing and there is only one specific way to be male. There’s also a whole bunch of stuff about fated lovers and soulmates and such that seems to only leave room for cishet relationships (though there are hints that this may change in future books).
4. It’s fairly predictable. This may be a pro for younger readers or people just getting into fantasy/romance books but it fairly obvious where things are going in advance. The answer to riddle at the end of the first book is so glaringly obvious that it makes the whole ending of that book and the fallout from it seem kind of stupid.
So for someone looking for a complex fantasy story with elaborate world building that more accurately reflects the complexities of the real world, there are a lot of other books that will provide that better than this one.

Hello you beautiful mind💚
If you get this message, it means you’re one of my favorite writers and mutuals🤭 Please feel so very appreciated and loved!! Your works are fantastic and always brighten my days🫶🏻💛
Inspired by the amazing @mochie85 I wanted to pass on some random questions to cure boredom or just for fun :)
1. Which 'Loki era' is your favorite regarding his personality?
2. Which 'Loki era' is your favourite regarding his look?
3. Which genre do you enjoy writing the most? (fluff, smut, humor, angst)
4. Do you sometimes notice parallels between characters in your stories and people you know irl?
5. What do you do to cure a writer’s block?
6. Which Loki outfit is your personal favorite and why?
7. If our beloved god would have to life a Midgardian life, what do you think would be his job?
8. drop your all time fav Loki gif!!!🫶🏻
I hope I managed to lighten up your mood🥰 Much love and hugs!
Oooh funtimes!
1. Which 'Loki era' is your favorite regarding his personality? Thor: Ragnarok, because I feel like that's when we see the most of his 'If I Had A Less Traumatizing Family Life This Is What I'd Be Like" personality: still a trickster, still in it for himself sometimes, but there's the lightheartedness in the tone this time, and I also feel like the brother connecting in Ragnarok is the most enjoyable.
2. Which 'Loki era' is your favourite regarding his look? If I could cheat: take his wardrobe from Dark World but his hair from Ragnarok.
3. Which genre do you enjoy writing the most? Dramady. The more I write Nights at the Circus, the more I'm enjoying the fuck out of just exploiting stupid tropes and turning the volume up to '11'. People love it, so what's the shame in using them as long as you're self-aware?
4. Do you sometimes notice parallels between characters in your stories and people you know irl? Kind of the opposite, actually. One of my biggest faults as a writer is how much I overthink how I want a personality trait to look, or how I want someone's decision to go. As has been pointed out to me, my Loki tends to be contentious, conservative, and stubborn, and while he has a good heart, it's usually buried pretty deep under all that Asgardian leather. My Loki fucks before he woos, and my IRL boyfriend is absolutely not like that lol
5. What do you do to cure a writer’s block? I go cry until the Muses tell me to shut up. Though honestly, my writers blocks have more to do with my bipolar II than it does inspiration or lack thereof. My 'manias' are creative bursts that have me writing for 18 hours straight without food or sleep (this usually happens for like a few weeks to a few months, my current streak has been going steady since June, so I fear I'm due for a crash soon!), then I go for six months without typing a single word.
6. Which Loki outfit is your personal favorite and why? This will be an unexpected answer: but the ragged tunic he's got when he's being contained in Dark World. Come on! So what if that devastated Sirius Black look is my thing? He looks like he's just been ravaged and needs me to cuddle him back to happiness.
Tumblr media
7. If our beloved god would have to life a Midgardian life, what do you think would be his job? I think it depends on which Loki we're talking about...
Thor Loki would probably go off by himself and focus on trauma recovery after what he went through before getting a job, and he'd probably go on to do something that didn't involve a lot of people, but maybe he'd eventually want to prevent what happened to him from happening to someone else, so this is the Loki I can see settling down with a family off-grid.
Avengers Loki would probably march right to the gym because he was so pissed he was bested by the Hulk that he'd probably feel like he needed to prove something, so maybe Loki would try to get in to business or something where he could quickly work his way up a ladder.
Dark World Loki...idk, haven't actually watched that one in a long time.
Ragnarok Loki would try to break into show business or media influencing for sure. Anything that could give him the attention he craves. He'd also shop around his tell-all about how he totally saved the Asgardians on his own, with maybe a little help from his lightning rod brother.
Infinity War Loki would just be thankful he survived Thanos (if he did) and want to quietly slink off to New Asgard with a new appreciation for little things.
Not sure about TVA Loki, but I do know that would never want to see another manila folder as long as he lived.
8. drop your all time fav Loki gif!!!🫶🏻

AHHHHHH I just realized ur theeee hydrocarbon and now I gotta bust into ur asks to say. HELLO!!! I LOVE YOUR FANFIC
I've been so excited for every update. Your version of Yu is probably my favorite out of all the fanfica I've read. I just love the way ur able to incorporate what would feel like in game dailogue options before settling on one he would pick. And I do love how u write his struggle with wanting to stay I Inaba. Which in most fics have him want to stay cause of his friends which I get but like!!! WHAT ABOUT Nanako AND Dojima. That's his fam ;-;
Ahhh I could also go on and on about yosuke and his relationships with everyone too. SO MANY SIBLING DYNAMICS. Ur little brother teddie is great. And I always like to think. As much as yosuke gets mad at him it's like...he still cares for him. In game he still knows when to back off and tell him he's always welcome. And of course YUKARI AND YOSUKE. ahh the trauma ahh the healing. It's been soooo 😚👌💖 following them along their journey. Overcoming themselves and growing closer again. I just wanna cry.. I can't wait to see more of them from u :D
And ONE MORE THING. BUT I JUST NEED U TO KNOW . I am such a sucker for a yu that can hide honesty in his jokes. The "cute cute cute" thoughts and cheek pinches.....feels like a slice of reddie (which I hope u don't mind me saying. It's one of my fav dynamics so it was just nice to see again hehe 😅)
AAAA HELLO???? hi i love your art so much (if you uh. couldnt tell from the ask i sent you) when i saw this was from you i went all alksdjflksadjf for a little bit 👉👈
thank you so much for affirming my Characterization Choices with yu bc oh wow! that boy can fit so many characters in him and near the beginning of the fic in question i was still trying to find my footing with who i wanted him to be. but i feel like no matter what, nanako is priority to him. and like. dojima has his issues in canon but hes not a bad guy and yu's still his family. i want this family unit to be a thing so bad 😭
oh yosuke has like peak sibling dynamic vibes with everyone he interacts with and i think its hilarious. i am a hanamura bros enjoyer first and person second ☝️ you are so right!!! they annoy each other a lot but they still care so much about each other :( and it's been very fun taking apart canon and putting them together like lego pieces for yukari and yosukes story. i hope you enjoy whats to come!
YU THAT CAN HIDE HONESTY IN HIS JOKES thats peak characterization, i love seeing that in other fics so much. its one of my favorite tropes of like "haha you think this is a joke but i am being so honest right now :)" i just think that is very neat. im happy you think so too!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS :((( i spent so much time just staring at this message and grinning, i really appreciate the thought you put into this :')

every drama i’ve seen so far pt.3
record of youth
Tumblr media
4/5
so beautiful & aesthetically pleasing
very lighthearted, like a slice of life more than a melodrama
Park Bo Gum <3
both male leads are super cute, I liked how they were both just nice
subverts a lot of traditional drama tropes, it didn’t feel as predictable as other dramas
there was a lot of cute scenes between the leads that made the romance very believable
it was easy to watch until the end, I didn’t really lose interest very often
the leads and most of the side characters were very flushed out in their motivations, dreams and purposes
it’s just so cute
I took a star off because of a few unnecessary scenes, plots and twists but they were not that bad
weightlifting fairy Kim Bok-joo
Tumblr media
5/5
wow wow wow
this is one of the most iconic dramas i’ve ever seen
this is a friends to lovers drama which is not something we see often
the leads have so much chemistry and it makes sense that they dated in real life
the female lead is not traditionally feminine and it is so refreshing
the male lead is also not traditionally masculine and it makes him really likeable
the drama itself is hilarious and has many quotable sayings
the characters in this drama also have really flushed out motivations
the found family is iconic
the pacing of this drama was well done
the love triangle was interesting because you don’t necessarily root for her with the second lead but it is realistic portrayal of a teen girl’s coming of age
i just loved all aspects of this drama
true beauty
Tumblr media
5/5
another one of my FAV dramas of all time
i was very hesitant about this drama because of the premise and not absolutely loving the webtoon but i gave it a chance and i absolutely don’t regret it
the pacing, energy, tone and aesthetics of this drama were not only consistent but were SO incredible
i had heavy second lead syndrome the entire time but unlike usual, i still loved the main lead and was fully invested in both leads scenes with the female lead
besides the main leads, the side characters were just as incredible
the secondary romance with the female lead’s sister was so cute!!! i genuinely watch an entire drama of just their romance
the female lead’s brother’s romance was engaging as well
unexpectedly, i cried because of this drama which, trust me, i never do and it was because of the incredible representation of mother daughter relationships
the message of this drama was misrepresented in my opinion and is much better than its portrayal
my only complaints are that the horror comic aspect of this drama should have been played up and that the bullying and addressing of bullying could have been touched on more or at least better
love alarm S2
Tumblr media
2/5
this was very much a waste of my time
i think i’ve outgrown this story honestly because i was not at all invested in this season
basically, i love that she didn’t end up with the first season’s main lead, i think the person she ended up with was more suited to her and will treat her better
i also liked the maturity of this season compared to the last
the last thing liked was the sweetness of the romance
that being said, this is was mind bogglingly boring to me
the side plots and messages were unnecessary and took up too much airtime
the romance was also unnecessarily drawn out
the tone of this season was completely different than the last and it was a negative change in my opinion
the slow pace, drama and characters were not engaging
this was extremely dramatic and whimsical and it didn’t work for me in this story
yeah... just generally not a fav
reply 1988
Tumblr media
5/5
THIS IS IT THIS IS IT THIS IS IT
i have never ever seen anything like this
this is the perfect show, like absolutely perfect
the depictions of familial, platonic and romantic relationships was PERFECT
the nostalgic vibe of this setting was incredible
the settings, wardrobes, objects and events were so well done
never has a show so perfectly invested me in every single character’s story while having so many characters
when i tell you i watched this entire thing in 2 days despite its length, i am not joking
i could not look away or think about anything else for the entirety of watching it and for a week after
there is an element of mystery with who the female lead ands up with and i was personally VERY happy with the result
another drama that i cried watching MULTIPLE times
the representation of different families, romances and personalities was incredible
there were so many scenes that were placed in that were not related to the plot and that was perfect because it was like we were watching their daily lives and interactions and made the watcher love the characters so much more
it is such a sweet, low stakes watch and such a slice of life story
some of my favorite plots: the father daughter relationship, the single-father son relationship, the single-mother son relationship, the protest storyline, the smart-mean-girl nice-good-boy love story, the moments over time create love, the first crush story, the working-mom son relationship, the found family group, the not knowing what the future holds and SO MANY MORE
reply 1997
Tumblr media
5/5
i obviously had to watch another show in the reply series
i also LOVED this one
this was more focused on just the kids in the families rather than the families as a whole
the romances were so cute in this drama, and there were more romantic scenes compared to 1988, which i loved
the stan culture depiction in this drama was so interesting and fun to watch
i can’t express how much i loved that she was a kpop stan like it was so entertaining
this felt like a really good depiction of high school and how high schoolers are
i loved the vide of this drama too, the high school and concert setting were very immersive and comforting
the main lead’s romance was SO cute and i fully developed a crush on the male lead
it really felt like i was in 1997 Korea and it was so nice
the gay character representation!!!!! like this is HUGE for a kdrama and especially one set in 2012
I LOVED the female lead, she was so cool
the characters’ growths were so good and well done just wow
i will say that 1988 was better because of the elevation of the familial bonds and the general plot connections but the romances of this one were a lot more developed simply because there were so many scenes
they tried to do a mystery ‘who does the female lead end up with’ but it was very predictable compared to in 1988
hands down another favorite of mine
love in the moonlight
Tumblr media
3.5/5
this was a hard one to rate
the romance for me is a 5/5 but the rating went down for a lot of reasons
firstly, i’m a huge fan of sageuk and this drama was a perfect one
Park Bo Gum <3
i think the leads ahead a lot of chemistry
i loved the side characters a lot, and especially the female lead’s friendships with them
the settings and aesthetics were A1
the banter was great
the plot was great and believable
the reason i had to lower my rating comes down to few minor issues that compiled so much that it hindered my enjoyment
the first issue i had is that here were SO many third act conflicts like waaaayy too many
the characters got together way too early so you can tell the writers created a bunch of issues to keep them apart and it could have been avoided if they hadn’t done that
the plot started imposing too much on the main storyline towards the end and i didn’t love that
the second lead was good compared to how they’re usually written so it was extremely bothersome that the love triangle wasn’t made believable, not once did i believe the female lead had any romantic feelings toward him
just generally the individual aspects of this drama were very good but when combined it was all over the place and not cohesive
anyway that’s the update, if anyone has any recommendations for me, please let me know. thanks for reading!

fav super gorey bloody movies? i can neverrrr get enough blood and guts <3
ohh yes absolutely.. i'm the same way body horror n gore r my fave parts of horror i got you <3 i have A Lot so here we go. (this got very long and i got quite passionate in my commentary whoops!)
possession (1981) duh. gore doesn’t kick in for a bit and isn’t super long and gorey but it’s SO GOOD when it does
deathgasm (2015) was sooooo fun and gorey and bloody and campy. very much an ode to evil dead.
OH and if you haven’t seen evil dead that too!!! i like evil dead 2 a lot more than the first but both have good gore
basket case (1982) so fun
the loved ones (2009) really gorey really fun really cool horror role reversal. i ❤️evil teenage girls. felt martyrs (2008)-esque in some parts, which i will talk abt later in this post
IMPETIGORE (2019) !!!!! literally one of my favorite movies ever it’s SO underrated and was soo good and gorey and literally everything i could want in a horror film.. fucked up lore, nature and graveyards AGH it was so good. it’s a shudder original but i think you should be able to find it through other means if u dont have shudder
the autopsy of jane doe (2016) much more a medical gore type situation but i loved it
the dentist (1996) super fun mouth themed horror / gore. felt like a fever dream and a drug trip combined. the second one was also really fun
audition (1999) literally need to say nothing about this
the hellraiser series!! I’ve only seen up to 5 i think but 1 + 2 are so good. (2nd is my fave)
the saw franchise is all great gore!!
raw (2016) so good. cannibalism. weird sisterhood. need i say more
may (2002) was so damn good!! i think you would really love this one, there's a milk + blood moment in it!! and weird creepy dolls!!
suspiria (1977) and the 2018 version were so good! the 2018 one wasn't so much a remake as more than a retelling and expansion. i personally did the 2018 one first and then the 1977 one upon a recommendation so that you can go into the 2018 one without comparing it to the original, which i felt helped in my enjoyment of it a lot.
house of wax (2005) i have some mixed feelings on this movie as i do think it plays into the “omg people who look different than us are sooo evil and fucked up horror trope” but. the gore is amazing and the soundtrack fucks so hard.
the descent (2005) literally there’s a lake of blood. and very very very few men god bless.
american mary (2012) incredible amazing outstanding show stopping never been done before
revenge (2017) no idea how i feel about this movie but the gore was good
okay and now the cronenberg section of the reclist. i recommend everything of his so here are his more gorey ones ranked by my faves (dead ringers isn’t gorey really but it gets an honorable mention as my fave cronenberg)
videodrome, shivers, the fly, rabid, the brood, scanners (these are more body horror than pure guts n blood but they are great nonetheless)
okay and now my two really fucked up but amazing recs that i have to give a disclaimer these are Intense and not-for-everyone-recs
martyrs (2008) is one of my top 10 movies ever i adored it so much and it’s so gorey and gross and wonderful but as i said, quite intense and stomach churning.
and then the nekromantik series. these are quite a bit of meta commentary films, i.e why would someone watch this because they really are gross and insane. nekromantik 2 was my favorite. but yeah big big warning for these in general. definitely hard stomach churning watches, and makes you question why you are watching them, but still amazing. but yeah. proceed with caution with them if you watch them.

UNICORN!! im so glad to have seen you rb this meme because honestly, where can i begin with this? the way you've managed to create a set of both diverse but well structured and developed muses is something i admire so, so much about you and your blog. it's clear how much love and dedication you have spent on each and every character to make them both very correspondent with their original story but so, so very much your own! every reply and interaction i've seen on the dash absolutely shines through just how much of the world around them you have built as well, you're able to offer every person you interact with something so bold and so fun from the other and i truly believe it's something that's so, so beautiful about your blog. every character, no matter how big or small their route is in the original game dynamics, all have both little and big parts of themselves that never fail to offer so much to them, and it's such an enjoyment to read every little piece of love that falls straight through. you even outshine the big names in just how much dev you've given every single one, and it's really hard not to fall in love with any one of your characters because of that!
i'm currently bias to darcy but honestly, i love him so much but gotta be honest. i am so excited to interact with so many more of them in the months to come in other unique dynamics we can think of in combining our lists together. you portray each and every one so beautifully it becomes such a disaster for me to be able to limit myself into just picking one more--- HFJSDHSJ
Tumblr media
&  RE  :     this was prompted ages ago aaaaa    /    @dangaer.
Tumblr media
SPEAKING OF POSITIVITY !!! i reblogged this prompt ages ago & i had this sitting in my inbox, rbing the last meme made me think it’s a good time to post it cuz i was saving things 4 a rainy day. 🥺 ALSO BC YOU KEEP SAYING NICE THINGS TO ME!!!! I SAW THOSE PROMO TAGS WTF I’M GONNA KICK DOWN UR DOOR U CAN’T DO THIS TO ME JHERBGNJHBN. thank you so much for all the kindness you’ve shown me, you lob so much praise on me and i don’t often get the opportunity to return it. it makes me extremely happy to know that you’re enjoying writing together & that you’re finding my muses equally as fun as i find your own!! i bully otome games a lot bc i have a vendetta fighting for better quality writing JHBNERG BUT I STILL LOVE so many canon otome characters, even from games i pick fights with and you write all of those characters so beautifully. 😭 i love ikki to bits bc amnesia has the softest little spot in my heart, but from your dialovers muses to your cxm muses, you pull all of them off even better than their source material. ESPECIALLY for the games i don’t actually like the writing in : i LOVE dialovers’ characters and seeing you give them better development than their source material imo makes me so happy bc i get to actually enjoy them. i adore reading everything you post, all your threads and headcanons and etc are so fun!! i know i’m very opinionated tm when it comes to otome writing but GENUINELY i think you do so much better a job at developing these characters and finding their voice than some of their own canon writing did. and it’s actively helped mend my opinion on some of them (like shin!! who i never rlly disliked or anything, but was just ‘meh’ about : u talking abt him made me love him sm more !!)
that being said !! darcy is where my heart and soul goes, the culmination of every otome trope i’ve ever deeply loved, so hearing sb has a bias for him always makes me so happy. (´• ω •`) ikki and darcy are def some of my fav interactions on this blog!! i love their dynamic!! i’m always excited to get replies & stuff from you, ty for taking the time for my stupid oc bunny man JHNBERG. i’d be MORE than happy to write more with our other muses too, of course!! i feel like our lists could make some... very Wild combinations kjnermhkjnm. whether we have one interaction or 20 they’re a blessing & i cannot thank u enough for giving me the opportunity to write with you & all your beautifully characterized muses! ukyo and heroine truly walked so that darcy and ikki could decide that love is worth ending the world for ... peak romance.
side note speaking of my promo tags > “#but no on a very serious note unicorn is one of my all time favourite mutuals.” U HAD NO RIGHT I’LL SOB ON YOU I’LL SOB ON YOUR MUSE LIST I WILL SOB ON MYSELF. ur v sweet ... know the feeling is mutual ur always welcome in my inbox or drafts or dms or u know in my muse’s hand... with ur muse’s hand... they can hold hands KJNEMRKHJM

ranking every recent spidey movie because i am biased and contain opinions
spider-man (2002). this movie is pretty funny and dafoe (best part of the movie) kills it as green goblin. however it also aged badly with the special effects and Not Great Writing of the female characters™. tobey is great but i think he shines more in the later movies (which i will get to). it does a great job of setting up the characters and universe but it's also the most basic of the raimi trilogy imo. because while this is pretty cohesive narrative-wise it's still less enjoyable to me than the others (doesn't mean it's bad, just that it gets better from here). 6.5/10
spider-man 2 (2004). i think this is objectively the best live action spidey movie (even if i personally like 3 better). doc ock is my fav live action spidey villain and the fight scenes in this movie are just. iconic. the train scene obviously deserves every bit of the hype it gets. also this movie leans hard into my favorite spidey trope which is "peter struggles to balance his superhero life and civilian life" and i really love the plot point about peter's powers not working bc of the stress coming out of it. and the raindrops keep falling on my head montage is cinema tm. loses points for the very bad depiction of mj but this is rly the only problem i have with it. 8/10
spider-man 3 (2007). this movie has the biggest "over the top soap opera comic" vibes and god do i LOVE it. the plot is all over the place and it's clearly struggling to juggle the three villains but also i had so much fun watching it so it does not matter. this movie has my two fav scenes in the Entire raimi trilogy which are a) emo peter doing his stupid little walk and b) emo peter doing his stupid little dance. emo peter my beloved. you'll forever be in my heart and i'll never get tired of the memes about you. anyway it makes me a little sad that spidey movies from here on will be afraid to be this cheesy and stupid. 8.5/10
the amazing spider-man (2012). andrew is a great spidey you all were just mean. i like how the movie leans into him having to get used to his powers and the bit at the end where peter brings home the eggs to may was super heartwarming. there are writing decisions i have issues with most notably peter getting his start as spidey by hunting down any long haired blonde guy and how this plot point gets dropped without getting resolved (so the "responsibility" element is kinda missing from the origin to me). BUT skaterman peter is extremely lovable so i'll forgive him. also the lizard is such a hilarious villain. 7/10
the amazing spider-man 2 (2014). ok so i tried really hard to like this movie but. well. lmao. i will say that peter's suit/the overall visual effects look great and i think andrew's performance is the best part of the movie. and that part where electro's theme (?) plays in time when he destroys things is neat. everything else is just. a mess. enough criticism has been thrown at this movie so im not gonna delve into it but i do want to say that i really wish the tasm movies were written better bc there's so much potential in the characters/universe but the writing brings it down for me. 5/10
spider-man: homecoming (2017). i still love this movie i know it makes me a fake spidey enjoyer but still. it's adorable. it's part of what got me rly into marvel and it has a special place in my heart. hoco is not trying to be an origin story it's like this comedy hs movie w spidey elements and also works kinda as a sequel to an unseen origin and i like that (bc we have already seen the origin 2 other times). extra points for being the funniest depiction of high school and having my fav soundtrack out of the rest of the live action movies. However there are still definite sins committed adaptation wise that carry over to the rest of the mcu trilogy and they sting very hard rewatching this movie now. 7.5/10
spider-man: into the spider-verse (2018). cinematic masterpiece and the best superhero movie of all time i am sure that everyone with a brain can agree with me on this. every frame of this movie is so beautiful and it captures the comic book vibe so well. it's a love letter to spider-man as a character and you can tell how much passion was put into it. there are about 5 scenes in this movie that still make me tear up even though ive rewatched it so many times. miles my son . [peter b voice] i LOVE YOU i am SO PROUD OF YOU. beautiful soundtrack and animation, amazing action, top notch voice acting, it truly has Everything. i think the only spidey movies that will have a chance of being as good as this movie are its sequels. 1000/10
spider-man: far from home (2019). i hate this movie and every connection it makes with tony stark. this is because i love tony stark so much hes my favorite guy ever and this movie feels like slander towards him. way back on my sideblog i ranted about how besides the fact that peter isnt a legacy hero it fails at cementing him as a legacy in the first place, But Also this all gets immediately retracted in no way home so whats the entire point anyways. mj and peter are cute but are they worth it for the tony slander. no. i cant have normal opinions about this movie i'm sorry. 3/10.
spider-man: no way home (2021). i know. i know. everyone likes this movie. there's generally a lot to like, from the villains to the action to the previous spideys to the dynamic between the main trio. however i wish that this trilogy had not gone in this direction at all. there are lots of writing choices i super disagree with, the biggest one being may dying because a) the mcu cant stopping killing its important female characters and b) it retcons the previous implication that ben existed and had a hand in peter's origin. also i don't like the ending lmao. to me it feels like every individual mcu spidey movie shoots itself in the foot and makes it increasingly harder to build upon story-wise. 5/10

Rating ASoIaF POVs
Don’t come at me, these are my personal likes and dislikes (also I’m bored and I had a bizarre fandom encounter yesterday which made me almost consider being too old for Tumblr :P).
If you want to give me yours, I’ll be more than happy to read them!
The order is number of chapters in all the books combined, not my personal favourites. To make it more fun, I’ll also rate them in a scale from 1 to 10 (my least favourite POVs to my best-loved ones).
Here we go!
TYRION - 6/10
Even though he’s not my favourite character (and that’s a huge understatement), I enjoy his chapters in both AGoT and ACoK. I feel kind of “whatever” towards his ASoS chapters, but the real deal-breaker are those from ADwD. It took me nearly two years to finish that book, simply because whenever I stumbled upon his POV, I went into a coma. For me personally it presents his least likeable portrayal, least insightful journey, least understandable motivations. Moreover, he used to constantly objectify women, while judging them by THEIR potential willingness to overcome their prejudice towards him in order to sleep with him. Like get over yourself, ma boy.
JON - 8/10
He started out as an underdog, his chapters in GoT were kind of boring and whiny, nothing ever happened. But boy oh boy, I can’t get enough of him since he ventured out and started hanging out with the wildlings; and his Lord Commander chapters? Probably my favourite ones in ADwD.
ARYA - 8/10
I preferred her hanging out in Westeros, I feel like crossing the sea slowed down her story a bit. Other than that: great read!
DAENERYS - 8/10
People often complain that her chapters were kind of a bore, but for me it was quite the opposite. For a long time she was our only window into Essos, she’s also quite observant and resourceful, so maybe she’ll help Tyrion’s POV become interesting again once they finally meet.
CATELYN - 10+/10
I ofter say that Sansa’s chapters are my favourite, but if I really had to make a choice, it’d be Cat. Her POV is captivating from the very beginning, and she takes us on such a journey! She’s our first window into the Vale, into Renly’s camp (where we meet Brienne and the Tyrells), into Riverrun and the Twins! We follow Robb through her eyes, we mourn Ned with her... She never stops being an interesting character with an eventful background, thrown into situations we wouldn’t be able to witness, weren’t it for her POV. You may like her, you may dislike her, but I’d say that the importance of her chapters is indisputable.
SANSA - 10/10
What can I say? I like her insight, she’s one of the most observant POV characters in the books (maybe because she doesn’t really have her own agenda - not in a bad way, she’s a child and a captive), which makes her less self-absorbed (especially in the later chapters). Yes, her first chapters in AGoT were a bit dull, and that’s why I’d choose Cat’s POV over hers in general.
BRAN - 7/10
I know it’s the weirdest thing to say about one of the most supernatural POVs, but I kinda preferred his Winterfell chapters? He proved to be a great leader (and I’m sure he will be a good king), but some of his later chapters blurred for me into a tight knot of “I’m going north, but sometimes I warg into Summer and hunt”. I hope we explore more of his abilities in TWoW, that’s something I’m really looking forward to despite not being particularly captivated by the deep north’s charms.
JAIME - 8/10
Entertaining, insightful, arrogant - and I’m talking about both Jaime Lannister and his POV chapters. He’s an arsehole with a terrific backstory, but also a walking disaster of a character. Pure joy. The only thing I regret is getting his POV so late in the books. I know it’d ruin suspense otherwise, but still.
EDDARD - 9/10
I love going back to AGoT and reading his chapters, pretending that I don’t know how things end for him. There are so many “main hero” tropes in his chapters, it makes me laugh. Oh well, it was great when it lasted!
THEON - 6/10
HATED his ACoK chapters, LOVED the ones from ADwD. I know that writing him as a dick was crucial to making his further story more heartbreaking, but I generally can’t enjoy vulgarity, objectifying women, describing characters having sex for 15 pages etc. That’s why I hate many Tyrion’s chapters, and that’s why Theon’s POV annoyed me at first. But damn, his inner struggle, his identity crisis, going back and forth from Reek to Theon...  10/10.
DAVOS - 6/10
Ah, good uncle Davos! I don’t know why I’m not rating him a bit higher, I do enjoy his chapters, especially because it’s through him that we learn more about Stannis and Melisandre in the earlier books. But... he’s such a boring character! :D (I know, I will have to whip myself later for writing this, feel free to send me strongly worded letters, I deserve it.) Davos’s POV works great as an exposition, but I just cannot force myself to care about him personally. Good dude, though.
CERSEI - 9/10
My queen, one and only. I think ASoS might be my favourite book, and that’s mostly because of her chapters. She’s vindictive, egoistic, jealous, unreasonable... and irreplaceable! I enjoy her slightly mellowed-down, cool-headed show version (one of the very few things that the show did right), but gosh, book!Cersei’s weak-arse schemes might be the most wholesome piece of literature, honestly. And the fact that her paranoia isn’t unfounded, that some of her frustrations are totally justified - all that makes her a character rather easy to sympathise with. She might not have the most insightful POV, but it’s certainly the most entertaining one!
SAM - 7/10
He’s a good boy, and an attentive character - his chapters are enjoyable, but not yet exhilarating. Looking forward to more Oldtown business to reevaluate.
BRIENNE - 8/10
I’m not even going to explain myself, her journey was the most enjoyable side-quest I’ve ever witnessed. Some people don’t like her chapters, and honestly, that baffles me more than liking Tyrion’s ADwD POV. :D
BARRISTAN - 4/10
For a famous white cloak, he really felt like a non-character to me. His POV was a-okay, but to be perfectly honest I was constantly paging through his chapters to check whether maybe Dany came back.
VICTARION - 4/10
I’m not a Greyjoy-stan and I probably can’t appreciate the nuance of some Greyjoy POVs, but both Victarion and Aeron read kind of flat. Don’t hate me.
ARIANNE - 8/10
I still don’t get how she was omitted from the show. Maybe she doesn’t become the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, but so many pointless characters from the books got shitloads of screen-time, and my girl Arianne got none? Are you serious? Freaking BRONN became the Master of Coin, and they decided Arianne shouldn’t exist?! And yes, I love even the almost universally hated “The Princess in the Tower” chapter.
ASHA - 7/10
She’d be higher, but there’s a lot of vulgarity in her chapters, too, and I basically don’t care for that At All. Otherwise she’s a dope character and deserves the Iron Islands.
QUENTYN - 6/10
No offence to homie, but he was a bit of a bore. A nice one, but a bore.
AERON - 4/10
See: VICTARION. He’d get even less, but at least we could experience the Iron Islands through his POV.
AREO - 8/10
I don’t see how any Dornish POV (as in being IN Dorne, not being FROM Dorne like Quentyn) could get any less than 7 points. I still think we got too few Dornish POVs, I demand amends!
JONCON - 8/10
I don’t even care about the plot (although he was one of the only two insights into Aegon’s storyline, that should count for something), I can’t with the amount of gayness in his Rhaegar flashbacks. 8/10, would recommend.
ARYS - 7/10
He was sweet, a bit naive, but I cannot go lower due to my Dorne principle (see: AREO).
MELISANDRE - 8/10
Surprisingly one of the most wholesome POVs of ADwD, pity it was just this one chapter. What with being a Red Priestess and all, you’d expect her to radiate more... numinous energy, but her chapter was one of the most iconic ones. I won’t give her a 9 just because I only have Ned and Cersei with those grades at the moment, and I think it should stay that way. (Oi, Ned/Cersei anyone?)
Prologues and epilogues not included.
What a trip. Care to share your favs? ;)

Thoughts While Watching SK Homecoming
I was literally smiling and laughing like an idiot while watching these wonderful amazing people and thinking of all of the memories from years of enjoying their musicals. I am so glad I bought the digital download because they deserve all of the love and support. Just a word of warning I will be spoiling what happens throughout the show so if you haven’t seen it yet and/or you don’t want to have anything spoiled for you, I would not proceed any further. You have been warned. Also, as the show is over two hours long, buckle in cause this is gonna be a doozy and I have a lot of feeling about this wonderful show.
Disclaimer: these are just my own personal thoughts and opinions as a long time fan of Starkid, please don’t come at me.
.
.
.
1. Darren is so cute with how he encourages and interacts with the crowd, you can tell how much he loves Starkid and loves the fans
2. we stan a founding knucklehead of Starkid
3. I am so proud of the musical daddies as they conduct a literal orchestra!! how far they have come!!! also, hearing all of the songs with the orchestra is such a treat.
4. I am living for Jeff Blims outfit! the eyeliner, the necklace, the vest!! honestly, iconic.
5. It is so funny to me that they had to edit out fuck from their songs, i.e. “i mean what the what”; “tiger lover”; “he porked a tiger”.
6. Did they change the octave that they were singing, because Jeff seems to be struggling?
7. I love how Jon Matteson looks the same as he did TGWDLM, he is Paul.
8. I don’t know why but the TGWDLM medley is increasing my appreciation for Jeff, previously who wasn’t really on my radar in terms of my favorite starkids, but I love his little dance moves and funny things he does
9. Robert Manion fucking performs the hell out of show stopping number and I am here for it every single time. I feel like he can’t help it and you can tell he’s into it because he can’t help but make the Hidgins face and wiggle his hips. Also, THE BODY ROLLS I AM LIVING FOR THEM !!! (@9:10)
10. Both Mariah and Jon are confirmed working boys and I love them for it. I love that Corey brought Mariah in at the end to make sure she was included.
11. Okay but Lauren Lopez knows how to perform like she knows how to work and engage a live audience. I so enjoy watching performances like this where there isn’t a wall between performer and audience because I think that that’s when she shines. I also feel like the same applies to Rob, Joey, and Darren, they are just so fun to watch.
12. How are all of these people so attractive!! I especially love Lauren’s outfit, but that’s probably just cause I love her so much.
13. I don’t know why but Brian’s “I still don't know!!” at 12:08 gets me every time.
14. Joey’s look behind him for his shadow at 12:24 while he bops kills me.
15. The orchestral swell at 13:05 with “this is the dawn” is so beautiful.
16. Lauren's arms are unbelievable, but we already knew that
17. 14:43 where Joey and Lauren walk and then turn back is so funny to me.
18. The second naked in a lake kicked in at 17:05, I got so hype. also, love that Corey took off his jacket during the song.
19. All the different faces and actions during the “fasters” at 19:54 are so good.
20. I never realized how tall and gangly Clark was until the Ani section, the boy's limbs are too long for his own good and I love it. His voice is so beautiful though!!
21. Joe calling Twisted the first-ever live-action Disney remake is iconic and no one can tell me otherwise.
22. I was legitimately afraid for the buttons on Joe’s shirt at 27:43.
23. Britney Coleman and Carlos Valdez singing 1001 Nights was a wonderful surprise and literally so beautiful, also their exit as Dylan started singing was so cute.
24. I’m kind of sad that they didn’t actually sing Twisted in the medley cause that was one of my favorite songs, but I understand that they had time constraints.
25. After 32:38, I feel like I need to watch the Lego Batman movie to see how similar it is to HMB.
26. Semi-disappointed that they didn’t do the usual choreography for the “I want to be your friend forever” part, but I respect that the handheld mics restricted them.
27. The bass or guitar or whatever in the background at 36:30 was so groovy, I was a fan of that.
28. Tbh, I didn’t really get Denise’s whole bit about how Starship is a show only for dreamers, it just felt a little off to me.
29. I’m a little bummed that Joey didn’t sing Status Quo, but I like that they gave it to Mariah and Alex who both have lovely voices. I appreciate that they had a moment to shine when they might not have because they are newer members/ only had a small role.
30. Brian and Jaime’s eye contact with the camera at 40:48 is so powerful and I’m here for it.
31. Joey mouthing the lyrics at 41:21 is so funny and I love it.
32. AJ’s little jump in the background at 43:02 is so cute.
33. Their constant need to have to avoid saying dick throughout the whole MAMD section is so good and hilarious, with so many expertly timed entrances from AJ Holmes and Joe Walker.
34. Joey saying no to the different microphones at 44:00 is absolutely artistic and fucking hysterical. It gave me similar vibes to Bo Burnham’s bit about seeing the most beautiful penis at a urinal.
35. 45:40, AJ Holmes is a delight of a man, need I say more.
36. “Do I smell?” “Pretty bad.” 45:07
37. Seeing Meredith and Brian standing next to each other at 48:49 makes my heart so happy cause this is what brought them together and now they are married and it’s amazing.
38. “We’ve written on all of the Starkid shows” 50:46, what a powerful statement.
39. I had no clue that the Starkid movie (1997) was a thing and I love that Nick just straight-up roasted it.
40. The subtitles at 52:56, dramatical instrumental music. I am here for it, I love this revamped version
41. Darren is so extra singing Goin back to Hogwarts and I am here for it. Our boy has grown so much!
42. Pulling out the glasses at 54:03 is a power move.
43. I’m not sure about how I feel about people singing along to the songs during this. I know it is supposed to be for the fans but don’t people want to just sit back and listen to how amazing these people are and just enjoy. Maybe that’s just cause I only am viewing it through a computer and if I had been there I might have felt different, but who knows.
44. 56:05, AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! It’s Bonnie!!! She looks amazing and I’m so happy that she’s here!!!
45. Joey trying to the clap in the ear with mic at 58:04.
46. 58:16, I love how Darren always hypes up the crowd for Lauren’s entrances as Draco, he’s done this a number of times and it makes my heart so happy how he supports his friends.
47. I love Lauren so much the way she moves across the stage at 58:57, the power stance at 59:05...absolutely incredible.
48. I love seeing Rob in the chorus cause he was a fan, he loves AVPM just as much as we do and now we get to see him up there performing one of the most iconic songs. It honestly just makes my heart so happy.
49. 1:00:12, Dylan emerging from the audience is honestly so funny to me and I love him for it. Also, I love the ongoing trope of the “welcome” getting progressively longer each time they perform the song. Bless Dylan’s lungs and abilities to sustain that note.
50. 1:03:45 Jim little butt taps are so good.
51. The saxophone at 1:04:19 is so enjoyable.
52. I like how the slowed things down for Home at 1:06:10 with Darren sitting on the stage just having a personal moment with the audience, it was really nice.
53. Darren’s hops at 1:08:45 are so adorable and I love them.
54. I know that AVPM songs are iconic and everyone loves them, but I would have liked to see them so some more songs from AVPS and AVPSY, especially since they had some time rehearse them and there would be no mic issues.
55. Yay for a Bonnie and Meredith duet, both women are wonderful and have done an amazing job as Hermione and I love them both.
56. “Art imitates life a little bit on that one”, it’s okay we love you Darren with your silly guitar.
57. I didn’t think watching this would be educational, but I now know what a litmus test is and what slant rhymes (aka really pushing it rhymes) are thanks to Darren and google, so there’s that.
58. This may be a bit controversial but I feel as though this was one of the weaker performances of Granger Danger, usually Joey and Lauren have fun with it and I love it when they do, but this time they seemed to be more going through the motions. There were good moments (i.e. Joey’s hips, Lauren sliding down the mic stand, the back and forth head turns) but overall it was just kind of eh.
59. Darren’s twirl at 1:28:36 is delightful.
60. I firmly believe that AJ has permanently memorized the fantasy monologue and I refuse to let anyone tell me otherwise, 1:31:10. Also, I’m curious if it was planned because someone in the audience calls out for it, but that might have been a plant so who knows.
61. I just realized at 1:32:20, where he’s talking about mouse wives and concubines that would be bestiality. He only shrunk his size down, he would still technically be a human...
62. Tyler Brunsman singing Guys like Potter is now kind of funny considering AVPSY and Cedric ending up with Lily in the afterlife.
63. Joe Moses face at 1:38:57 is classic Snape and I am here for it.
64. Another yay for Sidekick, this is one of my fav AVPSY songs and Joey kills it every time.
65. 1:43:19, goddamn that man can hit a high note.
66. I love the addition of Rob to Everything Ends, what a pretty song and Rob’s voice works wonderfully with it.
67. 1:44:58, Rob struggling with the mic is hilarious.
68. Classic Snape speech at 1:46:30, simply inspiring.
69. I love Jaime and we all know her voice is incredible, but something seemed off during Not Alone and at times it sounded like she was struggling.
70. 1:51:56, I don’t know if I just don’t know much about music but Joey’s make was a little off, but on another note, I think it would have been really sweet if they had let Lauren sing too so that Draco could finally add to that harmony.
71. That sick piano rift at 1:54:33, hell yeah!
72. Even though they always use Days of Summer as the closing song, I love it every time, it’s just so fun and gets me so emotional.
73. That key change at 1:56:50 tho.
74. Yay for enthusiastic but sometimes questionable fanart ;)
75. Brian and Joe recreating the ending scene of AVPM is absolutely beautiful and I am here for it.
76. The matching jackets at the end speaks to the fact that Starkid at its essence is just a bunch of friends who were theatre nerds and wanted to create something fun together and I think that's wonderful.
In conclusion: Props to whoever made it to the end of this ridiculously long post summarizing the different thoughts I had while watching Homecoming. I truly think it was something for the fans and I love them for it. I am so proud of Starkid and all they have accomplished since 2009.
I want to encourage others to continue to support Starkid in the future, maybe even by purchasing Homecoming for themselves, I would definitely recommend giving it a watch. Also, feel free to respond and let me know your own thoughts on Homecoming, I’m sure there’s lots I missed and I would love to hear what others thoughts.

Books “Read” in 2019
I am going to rank these by how much i enjoyed them vs. any actual literary quality. often well written books aren’t always the most entertaining books.
Note: i listen to many of these books at work, which is why i am able to go through so many of them in a year.
List from 2017 List from 2018
------- My Favs of the Year ----
Novels from The First Law:
Best Served Cold (#1), The Heroes(#3), Red Country(#4), Sharp Ends(#5).
A Little Hatred (#2) (Age of Madness, sequel to The First Law)
I read “The First Law Trilogy” about a year or two ago and finally got around to reading the rest of the books, just in time for a new series taking place in the same world to start up (Age of Madness) and now i am waiting like everybody else for the next two books to come out in 2020 and 2021. A Little Hatred shouldn’t be read as a stand alone, a lot of what goes on is dependent mainly on knowledge from the first trilogy and in The Heroes, then bits and pieces from Best Served Cold and Red Country. So much of your enjoyment of each book is based on what you’ve learned in other ones (character development or seemingly useless information being not so useless later).
Age of Legend (Book 4,  Legend of the First Empire)
This is more-or-less an “aftermath” book where the main characters are still reeling about what happened in the previous book and are trying to make plans for what they are going to do next. I still like the characters and the world/setting it takes place in.
House of Assassins (Saga of the Forgotten Warrior, Book 2)
I’ve been waiting for the next book in this series to come out the second i finished the first book in the series. It is one of those Science fiction in the disguise of Fantasy settings and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see how that plot/revelation comes out (I am certain that the location the story takes place is Earth, more specifically around Asia/India, but in a post-invasion apocalypse setting where nobody remembers anything prior to the invasion). I also really like how much of a badass Ashok is... i have a thing for emotionally stunted badass characters, especially when their flaws are held up to a mirror and have real consequences.
R. R. Haywood’s Worldship Humility & Extinct (Extracted, Book 3)
I love the way Haywood writes characters and dialog. I was at-first iffy about WSH, but was won over after i warmed up to the new characters.
Shades of Magic Trilogy (A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows, A Conjuring of Shadows)
Solid multi-verse and magic system world. Well-written characters, some minor nitpicks on plot points, but can be easily ignored. LGBTQ rep, the gays don’t stay buried.
“Don’t you have enough [knives]?” “You can never have too many.” [me, every time: LOL]
One of the few times when a character deserves a redemption arc, doesn’t really get one, dies, and i am perfectly fine with it because it is done well.
Assassin’s Fate (Fitz and the Fool, Book 3)
I read this one in book-book form, but i already knew most of the emotionally painful parts of the book by spoiling it to myself when it first came out a couple years ago. The main appeal is the inner monologues of the two main characters, even if like 50% of this trilogy is basically spending weeks/months trying to go from Point A to Point B, when many other books would have glossed over the details of travel.. but you can really feel the stress as they dwell in their thoughts and struggles.
Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles & Circe
Re-Imagining of the Iliad and The Odyssey. Focusing not on the characters of Achilles or Odysseus, but on Petroclus (Achilles’ lover) and Circe the sea nymph witch that Odysseus had an affair and child with.
The Spear of the Stars (Cycle of Galand, Book 5)
Still love Dante and Bleys... This is where they really get into the meat of world building and solving the mysteries of the Arawn Cycle (the book/bible) and peel back the layers of their reality.
Dust (Silo Book 3)
A great ending to a good series, it answers whether or not humanity can or has survived what had caused them to be locked away in the silos.
Blackthorn and Grim (Dreamer’s Pool, Tower of Thorns, Den of Wolves)
I like the premise of the books, the two main characters first seeking out revenge, but end up wanting to become better people due to magic shenanigans.... One part Fantasy, One Part Mystery, One Part Lovestory.
The Dispatcher (Audible Free Book)
I want a whole series based off this novella. It is John Scalzi so he can write a good story. I had previously read Android’s Dream by him, which it didn’t make it into my top-10 that year, but was still decent, even if the subject matter was a bit gross... The Dispatcher world is a Sci-Fi Noir, not quite Cyberpunk, where people don’t die by anything other than natural causes. The Dispatcher’s job is to kill people before something goes does wrong and the person “resets” to when they where safe and sound.
---- this is the “Above Average” Zone ----
All the Pretty Horses & Blood Meridian: Or the Evening Redness in the West
The master of bleak and depressing fiction. if regular Dark Fiction isn’t enough for you.... there is Cormac McCarthy books. Get use to the “purple prose” that fills up pages with no dialog.
The Golem and the Jinni
Supernatural world of the far past dealing with Edwardian New York and Immigration. It not only is a “fish out of water” story of the two main characters trying to fit in with society but they are among communities that are also new to America and trying to find their own place in the world. There are love subplots but most of those kind of fizzle out.
The Axe and the Throne: Bounds of Redemption Vol. 1.
“Discount First Law” book... it is lacking the dark humor that made TFL series far more entertaining.  This was also the book that was prefaced by warning people about how grim and dark the setting was... Hahahaha. I still found it entertaining none the less, and hope the rest would show up on audible soon.
Black Snow, White Crow (Audible Free Book)
Another one of those short stories that should have a larger saga to its name. Fantasy Industrial Punk. It has the whole equality role reversal thing going on, it isn’t done quite as well as Left Hand of Darkness (but that book leaned onto the boring side of things).
Stephen King’s IT, Pet Semetary, and Carrie
It’s Stephen King. Classic King. Not much else to say.
Watership Down
Depressing Rabbit Book. Though I did like all the stories and mythology the rabbits had.
Bloody Acquisitions (Fred the Vampire Accountant, Book 3)
A series that is always fun to listen to. I wish the audio books were cheaper because they are rather short.
Lethal White (Cormoran Strike, Book 4)
shuddup, i don’t care if it is Rowling... i have a low-key crush on Cormoran.... he just hits that big-burly tragic-backstory man-shaped soft-spot of mine. These stories are also her “for adults” writings so...  expect more racism and garbage values.
The Eye of the World (Book 1, Wheel of Time)
Classic set up to a long running series, though i am reluctant to go further as the middling books in this series are said to drag out the story too much.... It’s not as self-centered as Wizard’s First Rule and the characters are more relatable and stick to their fantasy tropes. This is the “mold” that other modern fantasy try to subvert by going “darker and edgier.”
The Exorcist
If you like the movie, read the book. There is a lot of back story that the movie wasn’t able to adapt.
---- This is the “AVERAGE, but Still Good”  Zone ---
The Iliad and The Odyssey
Classics. I am still on the hunt for an unabridged version of Jason and the Argonauts story. I also have Virgil’s Aeneid in my wishlist to get too soon.
Phillipa Gregory’s Plantagonate Novels (The Lady of the Rivers, The Red Queen, White Queen, The Kingmaker’s Daughter)
Sometimes it is like reading the same book 5x in a row. other times you end up not liking the previous protagonist in a book you just finished reading because of how the current protagonist sees them from their POV.
Return of the King (Lord of the Rings, Book 3)
Read the other books last year and didn’t get around to this one for a few months.
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Fuck... I’m a janitor... why can’t i afford a house?   If you liked Stephen King’s “IT” go back and read this book.
Alien Franchise Dramatizations: Alien: Sea of Sorrows, Alien: The Cold Forge (Audible Free Book) Alien III (Audible Free Book)
I don’t mind that they all are done with a full cast. Though often I end up wanting to find the actual book and listen to them with just one narrator and descriptions.
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (Narnia, Book 1)
I would like to get the rest of the books in this series, but for books that are only 5-7 hours long they want 20$ a book for them. It needs to go into an omnibus.
Stephen Fry’s Victorian Secrets (Audible Free Book)
It’s Stephen Fry... he’s funny and a good narrator.
Wizard’s First Rule (Book 1, Sword of Truth)
I don’t like Richard. He started off alright, but even before he got tortured 2/3rds into the book, i was starting to dislike his personality.  Other than that, the side characters and world are solid, but it was like taking an R-rated movie and cutting it down for TV. There is somethings that are vaguely described when i am use to harder fiction like ASoIaF, The First Law, Dresden, and McCarthy books actually describing those things.
Halloween (2018, movie novel)
Like I said when i first read the book, it would’ve benefited by a second re-write before being published. But, i like the movie and so I liked the book.
Don Quixote
Another classic read. I did find it hilarious that the Author spent a good chunk of the second book complaining about Fanfiction of his own book... in the 1600′s.
The Princess Diarist
I listened this book instead of going to see TROS. worth it.
Smoke Gets in Your eyes: And other Lessons from the Crematorium
Non-Fiction, If you want to know the ins and outs of the funeral business and get told in an informative yet non-clinical way with lots of tidbits and history facts tossed in as well as a semi-autobiographical account of the Author’s life.
--- These Books are “Alright” ---
Frank L. Baum’s Wizard of Oz books
I ligit got into an argument with a 70yo man in a comic book shop about how Canon the other Oz books were post Baum’s death. He was looking for Oz comic books and I brought up reading the first 14 books, and he’s like “There’s over 100 of them” and i was all “but all those are written by somebody else.” and he got all “they are still canon...”
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
If you want to know about the In//cel ideology in a classic literary form, this fits the bill. So much man pain.
A Christmas Carol (Tim Curry) (Audible Free Book)
Tim Curry, guys.....
The Poetic Edda (Norse God Mythology)
I listened this book twice. I bought two Edda books thinking I’d get some extra content, but no... same book just different production teams and readers. Returned the one with the worst translation.
Treasure Island (Audible Free Book, dramatization)
I need to read the actual book sometime, but i did like the cast and thought they did a good job.
Wally Roux, Quantum Mechanic (Audible Free Book)
A YA coming of age story about diversity and acceptance... with wacky science fiction.
Carmilla (Audible Free Book, dramatization)
The vampire before Dracula. Victorian Lesbian love story.
Even Tree Nymphs get the Blues (Audible Free Book)
A novella from one of those “love on the Bayou” romance series with supernatural creatures. Could practically take place in the same world of either True Blood, Dresden, or Fred the Vampire Accountant.
Mystwick School of Musicraft (Audible Free Book)
Harry Potter lite. For 10yo girls.
A Grown-up’s Guide to Dinosaurs (Audible Free Book)
I like dinosaurs.
Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World (Audible Free Book, Dramatization)
Interesting way on telling us about the Fossil Wars and Puma vs. Adidas.
True-Crime from Audible: Body of Proof (Audible Free Book),   Midnight Son (Audible Free Book), The Demon Next Door (Audible Free Book), Killer By Nature (Audible Free Book)
Why is True-Crime or YA fiction the only halfway-decent things Audible is giving us? But yeah, these are basically the type of reporting that the two journalists from Halloween were trying to do. Where they go around and gather up information about semi-famous cases and present it in a Podcast-like format.
---- Meh... ---
Camp Red Moon (Audible Free Book)
Would’ve been better if they were actually written by R. L. Stein.
More Bedtime Stories for Cynics (Audible Free Book)
No... half of these aren’t written very well.
The Darkwater Bride (Audible Free Book, Dramatization)
The setting is nice, but it is far too .... Soap Opera Dramatic.
Junk (Audible Free Book)
A cross between Alien Invasion and Zombie outbreak, read by John Waters and written as if it was a bad version of a Philip K. Dick Novel.
Rip Off!! (Audible Free Book)
Most of them are duds and boring. I don’t even remember half of them without having to look them up. The two that stood out the most for me where the “Other Darren/Bewitched” and the “Dark and Stormy Night” stories, the rest were rather garbled.
--- Garbage... ---
Dodge and Twist (Audible Free Book, Dramatization)
No, you are not being edgy or kool.
Unread:
Siege Tactics (Spells, Swords, & Stealth. Book 4)
Triumphant (Genesis Fleet, Book 3)
Earthsea (Tehanu and Tales from Earthsea, i am going to re-listen to the first three before i get to these)
Into the Wilds (Warriors, Book 1)
Pout Neuf (Audible Free Book)
House of Teeth (Audible Free Book)
Viva Durant and the Secret of the Silver Buttons (Audible Free Book)
The Other Boleyn Girl (Phillipa Gregory)

what are your top 3 otome game recommendations?
Tumblr media
ah look a topic i could ramble about forever
short answer, my top otome games are:
amnesia: memories
code:realize
gestures to voltage’s entire mobile library. pick one KJNHKJM star-crossed myth & be my princess are my favs tho.
unnecessarily long & detailed response: i’ll give a couple recs based on the system (tho most of these ARE, in fact, cross system so maybe it’s just my excuse to ramble lmao)
pc / steam:
amnesia: memories. toma’s character is hit or miss for people, but as a whole, the rest of the routes are really enjoyable and the true route (ukyo’s) story makes literally everything else worth it anyways imo, i honestly still can make myself cry if i think about it too hard.
ozmafia!! this one is super fun / good and just ... amazing in terms of content for your money. it has 10 routes and 13 romances. one “friendship” route with a female character, but they’re gay, harold. game is prob legit, like, longer than some honest to god visual novels, like steins;gate, it’s Long. which is good, u have a lot to do and most of the cast is likable.
xoxo droplets. really REALLY good one, with the premise that the mc is an asshole and ends up in a school group made of other people who are assholes so no other school club wanted them. 😂 iirc 3 of the routes are also free on steam, too. this one isn’t super mushy so don’t expect like loud declarations of love, but it was so funny and feel good and some of the routes (read: bae’s KILLED me) were so sweet i almost died.
honorable mention bc there’s a translation patch for anniversary no kuni no alice, so you can download it & play it free. one of the ogs. still holds up. sassy mc who will drop kick you into the next universe. 100/10 would rec. i love peter white.
switch:
gakuen club. this is a “know what you’re getting into and whether you would like it” kind of game bc a lot of people seem to find it boring, but i think cute / innocent high school love story tropes are adorable, so i didn’t. it’s a “ouran host club” kind of story / trope / vibe, if you’re into that stuff, you’d prob think the game is cute, too.
iris school of wizardry - vinculum hearts. i just ... like fantasy and magic and stuff so this one appealed to me, plus all the artwork and etc is BEAUTIFUL... basically MC gets pulled into a school for aspiring wizards and that whole song & dance. basically another feel good cute one which u know, we need those in our life. has a lot of harry potter insp if ur into that, but i hate harry potter so idc KJNHMKJHNM
nightshade. haven’t finished this one yet myself but literally everyone i talk to about it says this is the best otome currently available on the switch and hearing so much about it is making me want to finally open it since i have it on pc kjnMKJNm since i don’t use the switch much, figured it was worth mentioning.
speaking of, honorable mention that enchanted in the moonlight by voltage got released on switch and has all the main routes / side stories, etc in each pack. certainly not my fav of their games, but i do still rec it for any voltage fans.
psvita:
code:realize. if you own a psvita and you haven’t played c:r you’re honestly missing out on one of the best otome games out there PERIOD. it’s amazing. all the routes are amazing. as someone who typically hates at least 2 characters per game LMAO, i love every single route. there are sequels and epilogues and an extra route and just. play it. i’m not even gonna say anything about the story just PLAY IT. also literally best mc of any otome don’t @ me.
bad apple wars. there’s only two actual romance routes iirc, but like......... the game is Good if u’d like smth different okay kjnhmkjhn. tldr the MC gets hit by a car on her first day of school and ends up in a school for lost souls where the student body is split into two groups who are at each other’s throats. good 4 ppl who enjoy darker premises
norn9. cool bc there are 3 different mcs with 3 different romance routes, so you have 9 routes all together and like... not being stuck with the same character all the time is fun. this is more of a scifi setting too which IS NICE BC I LOVE WHEN U GET A CHANGE OF SETTING PACE W OTOME GAMES.
that said, there are a LOT of really good otome games on vita, if someone owns a vita and is into otome, i’m assuming they know a lot of the titles kjhnmkjnm
mobile:
GESTURES TO THE LOVE 365 APP (voltage games). PICK ONE KJNHMKJHNM. star-crossed myth, be my princess (the first one), and p much anything from the U.S. voltage team (app is lovestruck for that one.) u.s. voltage has a lot of w/w options.
story jar / ntt solmare games are also really good, the format is just super annoying. :/ if you can find some of their single-purchase apps, those are good. my sweet prince is my personal favorite, idk if it’s still active.
i didn’t mention hakuoki anywhere bc everyone & their brother knows it exists but there’s a reason for that, it’s on like 983475897 different systems, it’s popular for a reason, play it whenever u get the chance u will NOT be disappointed end novel KJNHMKJM

Hmm well I really like fantasy and sci-fi, characters who are adults and long books. I also like horror but I hate « bury your gays » & I like longer books or series. I’m not sure how to be more specific, hmm.
Well, you could specify some of your preferred tropes or themes, so my recommendation would have a higher chance to be to your taste, but I can try to rec something without it:))
Here are few random longer picks from my favourites. Even if they might not be to your specific taste, they’re at least not a chore to read thanks to their quality writing:)) If I totally missed your taste, please tell me what would fit it better and I’ll try again:))
(and yes, I’m mainly into fantasy and it shows… also sorry, kinda ran out of space and time and forgot to add some horror…)
Battle of Will by Sasha L. Miller  - one of the rare books that took the time to do the enemies-to-lovers change in the relationship between MCs in a properly slow and believable speed… it took its time and I loved it. Warning for the horny: low sex content and only at the end. I thought it fit the book and characters, though.
The Worth Series by Weston Parker - urban fantasy shapeshifter romance series following a Wizard cop and a powerful Wolf, set in an interesting fantasy world. First book is more about the sexual tension and attraction between the MCs, second book adds dealing with characters’ issues and a dramatic murder plot, third book is even richer in plot, politics, adventure and tension. Loved the progression and gradual shift in mood.
any series by Megan Derr, she is a damn good writer - one of my absolute favourites - and I adore her stuff…  I’ll just mention some: Dance with the Devil is a fantastic urban fantasy series with a rich and interesting world and characters, it has a pleasantly darker atmosphere without it being depressing:3 (I personally recommend reading the case stories in the Dance with the Devil book in ascending progression according to case number if you want a chronologic order of the stories). Tales of a High Court is set in a fantasy culture where choosing your gender is accepted without issue, it’s imho rather fun combination of sweet and entertaining because of the interesting collection of characters with varying personalities and flaws (some are very kickable assholes). Unbreakable Soldiers series is the one for you if you want to utterly break your heart and then have it mended, it’s basically a dinner of a sweet razor soup and shards milkshake and it’s damn good. Plus, in the second books one of the MCs is a painter and a wounded veteran sniper (instant fav of mine!) and a grey asexual with a demisexual love interest + aroace teammate. Yet it manages not to feel forced. If you want something really dark, go for The Lost Gods series, that world is dying and books get progressively darker and more intense. I ended up in a pretty gloom and doom mood after I finished it, yet it’s undoubtedly good.
Reawakening Series by Amy Rae Durreson - It offers one of the most interesting and enjoyable concepts of dragon shifters I’ve come upon, where dragons live and get power from love the same way gods get it from belief and thus hoard are those the dragon loves and protects. Books are direct sequels with different yet connected characters. First book balances adventure plot about a menacing destructive enemy with a turbulent relationship between an old, adorably genuine and honorable dragon and a temperamental desert god. Second book is very dark and gloomy, because it’s set in a country torn by a war and dark magics that gets a bonus brutal hit by having to deal with a plague. Basically h/c very heavy on the hurt part. Third book is more fun added to drama and politics in a city that strongly reminds me of Venice. This one is more dynamic due to the conflicting personalities of the MCs.
as for sci-fi, Megan Derr and Tygati wrote stories from the same rich Infinitum Government universe, Megan books Kidnapped + Meant for You (though I’m grumpy about the Meant for You, I personally furiously disliked one of the pairings in the book… still, they’re both a really good read) + Jewels of Bangkok and Tygati wrote stories Breaking Protocol + Courting the Ice Princess + Space Gremlins + A Shared Obsession. I recommend reading Tygati’s stories first, they seem to be earlier in the storyline chronology.

idk... comparing f-h to g-f (which i quit maybe a yr... 2 yrs? ago)
story: they both have really annoying stories but in different ways. g-f’s protagonists’ hypocrisy was what annoyed me the most- “ohhh belial is too horny we cant ever summon him” but then “theres a sexual killer and oodles of other nasty ppl were best buds lol!” and just the cutesy and kinda bland tone of a lot of the stories- always around the same cluster of characters who you have to like but theyre just so generic and bleh.
with f-h its still like a.... cutesy “you have to like them” tone w the main characters, but i think its a different annoyance. whereas the g-f ones are admittedly just bland and bleh, they arent rlly doing much bad? necessarily. whereas the f-h protagonists are. murdering ppl for their own agendas, being creepy, ect.
gameplay: for g-f what turned me away was the difficulty spike and the fact a lot of content was inaccessible if you dont have the whatever grid build bullshit. whereas in f-h i can count on my fingers things you lose without grid build nonsense and its all pretty inconsequential (sure, somes like “1 orb a week” but honestly its a fair payoff imo. the other stuff is like.. rokkr acces, those throne thingies, bragging rights, all stuff that i dont need). in f-h at least you can enjoy the game without pooling huge amts of time and energy and stress into the like.... nitty gritty, and what nitty gritty it does have is at least fairly ok to understand.
gacha: i think theres likely more characters i like in gacha in f-h than in g-f, since most of my favs were event free characters or npcs. i think the fact that f-h (and go tbh) are based on an existing source/story makes me more invested in the characters added to gacha rather than g-f’s “generic anime character trope number 24″. i think for me its bc i already have an impression on the character, good or bad, so i know if i want to roll them or stay away from the gacha. i never got the appeal of gachapin bc theres like a 1 in... how many chance of rolling selfi or on rare occasion sturm and drang, so it didnt rlly pay off. also sparking was too steep imo, i think the f-h method of guaranteed summon is more fair/achievable (like... clear 3 temp trials without spending orbs? thats tote fair)
and to be fair also go bc im not quitting it lol. im in it for the long run bc of sal and izou
story: ranges from rlly good and satisfying (ooku, lb 1-5.1, white day ‘19) to insultingly bad (gw ‘19-20, mystery ‘19, part 1/1.5, lb 5.2). unfortunately a lot of the stories dont understand that comedy and drama arent mutually exclusive and tend to be either “this character is so random xd” or “this character is so badly written they read like an ow the edge fanfic”. but some concepts are kinda cool- heck, most concepts are cool as concepts at least. so theres a lot of self-imagining potential. and like i said, some are good. most recently 5.1 was super nice and had a good balance of comedy and drama, which was awesome. and sad. very depressing
gameplay: difficulty spikes are rlly ew. but besides that it can be kinda fun and enjoyable. heck, even some of the difficult stuff is satisfying to complete in a way, just bc u can use your favorite/trusted characters to defeat someone really smug and annoying, looking at my ruler team and a 51 turn clear. imo a lot of draw in the “serious” story things is my personal gameplay/experience w it so seeing just the “ow the edge” story isolated really kills a lot of the enjoyment. which means the gameplay’s doing something right lol. the class strengths and weaknesses mean a lot of fun opportunities to use a variety of characters.
gacha: absolute heck. but it has gotten kinder- the most notable is the sorta yearly? free 4 star tickets and the very generous free 5 star due to gw delay. (unfortunately permanent/non locked only but still! it was a tough choice between sanzo and nastaya!). the gacha itself has gone from no pity rate 40 quartz/10 pieces to yes pity rate 30 quartz/11 pieces. theyve even added low rarity characters (albeit only 7... rip but its a start!) that also become relevant in the story.
so yea, i think go is obviously winning. i honestly have no urge to go back to g-f, and depending on what happens w f-h i could end up putting it on the backburner (esp if more 16 characters are added, considering i rlly dont like the game lol)
