[After Toby and Cody are on good terms again. The twins are going on patrol]
Marc: -and stay on the paths I've marked for you-!
[Connie chuckles]
Connie: Marc, honey, who do they remind you of? Hmm?
Marc: Hm? What? ...who?
Connie: They’re just we were, when we were young.
Marc: Exactly. Do you realise the danger we put ourselves in?
[Connie playfully pins Marc to the wall]
Connie: you mean the danger you put us in?
[She gives him a gentle kiss, Marc reciprocates]
Connie: The boys will be fine.

Steve comes home to a sacrificial ritual being set up in his living room.
Or that’s what it looks like.
He kicks the door closed and chucks his keys and wallet in the little bowl by the door like always, pushes his glasses up- they always slip down when he fiddles with the lock- and rounds the corner to head for the kitchen via the living room.
Except there’s a bunch of candles, a mix of black and cream colors, set up in the living room. Most are in plastic candelabras- bought from the DollarTree, maybe- and a big black blanket is spread in the center of the room, the couches pushed back from their usual center placement.
“What the fuck?” Steve calls, knowing exactly who’s going to answer because only one person could have done this-
“Steve!” Eddie rounds the corner from the other hall, his arms full. “You’re home early.”
“Uh- yeah-“ Eddie side steps past him, sparing a quick kiss on the cheek, which Steve returns, confused. “Are we.. sacrificing something? Or is this like a dark-themed romantic surprise because you know how I feel about wax-“
Eddie laughs and starts laying the things in his arms down on the blanket, forming a perfect semi-circle on the floor in the center of the room. A little plastic axe, a fake plastic branch, a mini ukelele, a toy sword, among others.
“No, definitely not-“
Steve cuts him off and, realizing something is missing, whips his head around in minor panic. “Where’s-“
“Heeeeeere she comes!” A voice calls from the same hall Eddie appeared from a moment ago and Steve recognizes the voice before he sees who it is, heart unclenching from his momentary panic. He’s relieved to see Gareth- a chubby little baby in his hands, held high above his head like he’s Rafiki taking Simba to Pride Rock. “The lady of the hour!”
Behind Gareth, shuffling and staring up at the baby he’s holding aloft are Dustin, Will, and Jeff, looking like occultists following their sacred baby-leader to the altar.
“Hi Gareth- hi guys,” Steve pushes down crazy helicopter dad mode and reaches up. When she sees Steve, Sam’s eyes light up with recognition- a smile breaks out on her round little face, all dribble and just one or two teeth that recently started coming in. She screeches in excitement m and reaches back to Steve with her tiny, tiny little hands- tiny little hands that might as well have Steve’s heart in a vice grip.
“Hi hi hi, Sammy,” Steve coos, taking the squealing, arm flailing ball of excitement from Gareth’s hands.
Steve will literally never get tired of how excited she is to see him, how even when he goes for a two minute bathroom break Sam screeches at the sight of him returning- will wiggle out of Eddie’s arms or bang on her high chair until Steve picks her up.
(Much to his husbands dismay- Eddie jokes that he’s nothing but a source of bottles to Sam and while they both know that’s not actually true… Steve can’t help feeling a little itty bitty bit smug when she kicks her way out of Eddie’s grip and reaches for his nose or glasses to tug on in delight).
Steve settles the smiley little butterball on his hip, rubbing little circles on her side as she grabs at the collar of his t-shirt. It only takes a couple seconds for Eddie to drift toward them both, attaching himself with an arm around Steve’s waist and Sam tucked between them.
Steve leans into the warmth of Eddie and the way he’s wedging Sam close to them both.
Around them, Gareth and Jeff light the candles around the room while Will and Dustin find a spot to set up Will’s phone.
It dawns on Steve- “Oh! Is this the Gundam and Gadgets thing for Sam’s first birthday?”
Eddie can’t hold back his laugh and he knocks Steve’s head gently with his own. “You know it’s Dungeons and Dragons, you old coot,” he says lightly, his breath tickling Steve’s cheek.
Steve smirks. He knows, but he likes to hear Eddie’s exasperated laughter when he calls Orcs “Shrek guys” or asks if the scores work like golf. He bonks Eddie’s head back lightly.
Eddie had mentioned it- said he’d seen a thing online but Steve had imagined picking papers out of a hat or something, maybe spinning a wheel.
Eddie twists a finger in Sam’s curls, his mouth pursed. “Paper in a hat? That would hardly be appropriate for such a tremendous occasion.”
Sam slaps at Eddie’s finger, grabbing it and yanking it down to her mouth. Eddie lets her slobber on it with the indifference of a man who’s had way, way worse than baby slobber on his hands.
“Our little Samwise is choosing her class- her lifelong craft that she’ll work to perfect. You can’t choose that with paper.”
Steve glances up from where he’s watching Sam gnaw on Eddie with her little ridiculously tiny hands wrapped around his. He knows the rings are non-toxic, made Eddie get them all checked, but still wonders if the metal is good for her teething gums.
“Isn’t that right, Sammy-fries?,” Eddie wiggles the baby- still gumming on his finger- into his arms. “This way she gets to choose what she gravitat- OW, fff-“
“Language,” Steve chides.
“-forks, Sammy, those teeth are deadly! Jesus, what’re you gonna do when you have a full set?” Eddie shakes his hand, inspecting his finger where two little red indents mark where Sam had bitten down. Hard.
She never touches her expensive doctor recommended teething rings, but biting on hands and fingers til they bleed? Her specialty.
Sam giggles as Eddie shows her his boo-boo and pretends to be fatally wounded.
“Candles are all done,” Jeff announces. “And Erica texted. She wants us to Skype her in after.
“Oh- Lucas and Mike made us promise to record it, too,” Will finally steps back from where he and Dustin have carefully propped the phone against a teddy bear elevated by books on a side table, looking like it could fall any second and angled perfectly at where Eddie is setting Sam down, equidistant on the blanket from each of the symbols surrounding her.
Steve recognizes some of the things- the sword is probably fighter, the little branch is probably meant to be a mage staff? Or maybe the other magic class, Druid? There might be more classes that use staffs or branches though. The ukelele is easy, that one’s a bard- Steve knows it’s Eddie’s favorite class- and a few other things that are obviously to do with fighting or something but he can’t really tell what’s meant to symbolize what.
Behind him, Gareth dims the lights just a little and saddles up next to Steve “This is gonna be so fuckin-“
“-Language!” Chorus Will and Dustin at the same time-
“Sorry- fricken awesome.”
The excitement among all the guys is palpable and Steve finds himself getting wrapped up in it too- they’re all sitting down around the special little blanket, Dustin and Jeff leaning across Will to make bets (Jeff’s money is on fighter but Dustin’s heart is set on Rogue) and Eddie sets Sam up, smoothing her hair down and gently explaining to her the sacred ritual they’ve set up for her. She barely understands much more than “yes” “no” or “dinner” but she looks up at Eddie with the biggest, most interested eyes a baby can have. Steve gets it- that’s probably how he looks at Eddie too, most of the time. Wide-eyed and love-struck.
A little ‘ping’ sounds softly as Dustin hits record on the phone and Eddie holds Sam up.
“Today,” he says like he’s making a speech to a crowd of several hundred rather than a living room of five dudes and a baby, “marks a special day in the young life of Samantha Munson-Harrington. Also known as Sam, Sammy, Spammy, Samwise, Samfries or Spud. She has reached the end of her first calendar year and it is time to choose the path down which she will walk for the years to come.”
He sets her down carefully equidistant from all of the symbols and scoots back among light cheers from the guys- including Steve, who gives a little ‘woo!’
“Aaah-oo,” Sam claps.
The guys start beckoning Sam this way or that- Gareth trying to get her attention towards the little axe and Will tapping the floor in front of the little play sword.
After a lot of looking around the room at all the crazy grown adults yelling at her, Sam surveys the items in front of her. Gareth’s little calls of “over here! Sam! Sam-erino, look at the cute little deadly weapon!” get more insistent and Will’s tapping is almost drowned out by Dustin making weird bird noises, as though cawing like a raven is gonna do anything but weird the kid out.
Finally, she crawls forward and reaches out her hand-
She grabs the ukelele.
Everyone goes wild.
Steve laughs at the way they all cheer anyway, even though Sam didn’t choose what they wanted, and Eddie scoops her up with the ukelele in hand, smothering her plump little cheeks with kisses.
“A bard,” Dustin bounces from where he sits cross cross applesauce. “She’s a little bard!”
They Skype Erica in- after, of course, they spend some time passing the baby around so they each get their turn cooing and snuggling their new little bard. Jeff holds Sam and plucks the ukelele in her arms, making her eyes go wide at the sound it makes. They laugh as she searches for what made the noise and aww appropriately as she discovers that instruments make sounds, slapping her little fingers against the strings with Jeff’s help.
Erica’s busy with her life as a new lawyer, as always, but never too busy for Hellfire. She answers on the second ring.
“Okay, nerds, I have a case in about fifteen so don’t waste my time-“
“Bard!” Eddie announces, holding Sam up to the phone so Erica can see her. She still hasn’t let go of the ukelele- it has, as all things must inevitably, ended up in her mouth. She’s chewing on the frets and smiling at the phone like she knows the camera’s on her.
(She always smiles for the camera. She’s a little show-boater like that.)
Erica makes a couple snarky comments about how she knew Dustin’s as gonna lose their bet- which, not surprising; they always have some kind of bet going and Dustin’s always losing- and she blows Sam a few kisses before she has to head out.
Will sends the video off to the group chat Hellfire has and spends the next few minutes laughing over Lucas and Dustins responses.
Sam ends up in Steve’s lap, doing her new little tick where she stands and bounces up and down. Steve keeps his hands on her arms for support and showers her with little kisses every few minutes- both as a little congratulations and because he can’t help it.
Jeff breaks out the beers. Eddie takes up the little ukelele, which definitely still has some Sam-spit on it- and plays a couple songs. He starts with her current favorite- one he and Steve play around the house for her to make her smile.
“I wanna rock n’ roll all night, and party every day-“
Sam goes nuts, squealing and dancing until she falls back into Steve’s lap and gets up to do it again.
The guys join in- all six of them singing (at different stages of off-key) to this bright little light, the center of Steve and Eddie’s whole world, of all of their worlds, really, who’s pulled them all in and made their lives a little warmer. Made their rag-tag family a little bigger.
“Happy birthday, Sam.” Steve whispers into her curls. “Little bard baby.”

Everyone seems to be talking about the Simba's Pride scripts, production notes, early drafts, and concept art-work that were recently unearthed from eBay and all the headcanon/fanfic/family-tree material that it gives, but how come no one, FRIGGIN NO ONE talks about the deleted scene from The Lion King 1½ where Timon and Pumbaa meet and talk to Scar.
I'm not even kidding:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the original plotline for The Lion King 3, Timon and Pumbaa (for whatever reason) were supposed to be looking for Mufasa, the Lion King. They would've come across the Elephant Graveyard and, mistaking Scar for Mufasa, come across Scar himself along with his hyena army after they have completed the Be Prepared musical number. Timon remarks that Scar is not Mufasa, to which Scar says "Must I forever be reminded of this," a nod to the original when the hyenas mistake Scar for Mufasa. The hyenas, wanting 'revenge' chase Timon and Pumbaa throughout the Graveyard before losing them.
And no, this isn't a recent discovery, (well sorta). The person storyboard artist, Amber Hollinger, (who worked on several direct-to-video sequels such as Belle's Magical World, Lilo and Stich 2, and Fox and the Hound 2) had this uploaded to her site in 2012, over 12 years ago. Since then it was added to the wiki in the concept gallery. I may have only recently found out about their source, but I knew this deleted scene existed for close to a decade. I can't be the only one who regularly thinks about this, right?
Personally, while I think the idea of Scar and Timon exchanging lines is sheer hilarity in of itself (tangent: Would they have gotten Irons back for this one-off line or would they have had Jim Cummings record some speaking lines for Scar like they did in Simba's Pride?), I can understand why it got cut, since it probably would screech the film to a halt if they had this one cameo from Scar and the hyenas drag out on and on when the movie is supposed to be an interquel with the main story and characters being a backdrop (at least during the second act that coincides with TLK's first act). To add to that, it also raises up a legitimate plot-hole in Scar knowing that there were witnesses to his conspiracy, witnesses who seemingly knew about he was about to kill, and did nothing, and in a movie filled with possibly deliberate inconsistencies, this in particular would be too tall to overlook.
But overall, it's pretty cool, and I think in a fandom that fascinates over deleted material, this is pretty underrated (then again, the 3rd movie in of itself is entirely underrated).

TLG: As You Move Forward
So I went a few months thinking about how I'd forgotten to include Makini to my past depictions of Kion's Guard as adults (1, 2), so I decided to celebrate the 4th anniversary (albeit 2 days late :p) of the Journey of Memories episode by finally showing off the adult design I have for her!
Because I'm still salty about TLG's last-minute decision in making Makini the Mjuzi of the Night Pride instead of Kiara's bestie like Season 2 hyped her up to be, I made a compromise by headcanoning that she frequently journeys back-and-forth between the Pridelands and the Tree of Life, especially when she's called over by each land for a ceremony of some kind.
Design Process:
To avoid making her look too much like a clone of her mother Fikiri, I figured that Makini would develop her dad Kitendo's features as she grew older (I think she's about 20-something in this image). It's kind of a thing for TLG to erroneously depict animals without their distinct sexual dimorphism (see: Mbuni the ostrich), but this time, I felt like embracing Makini's unusual bright colors for a female mandrill and make her look a little androgynous. I feel like it would fit her role as a Mjuzi for some reason lol
I figured the Bakora Staff she received at the Tree of Life would be her last new one as she's since learned to keep better track of it. I like to think that it symbolizes not only growth and learning, but it coming from the Tree of Life symbolizing that her true place is there.
In all that time she's owned it, being the crafty artist she is, she's put years of customization and souvenirs from her back-and-forth Pridelands/Tree of Life adventures into her decorating her staff, selecting just about every pretty flower and naturally-occurring bead she saw. I mainly sought out the idea of people bedazzling their canes for reference, she seems like the type to do that, making just about anything she owns pretty lol
Drawing Process:
ngl I got to work on this very much like that episode where Makini procrastinated on getting started on her portrait of Simba's family. I just, like... really struggled with the composition until I was hit with sudden inspiration to just go wherever my hand took me.
I grabbed a thumbnail sketch of my adult Makini design that I was the most happy with and rendered it digitally and was happy that it got me somewhere... then I ran into the background that I didn't put any thought into.
Because of the cropping and composition I already had going on with Makini's standalone model, it was very hard to come up with something she could be surrounded by, until I decided to insert some headcanons about a certain new TLG-related short Disney released. Basically: I headcanon Makini made those Circle of Life paintings that Kion shows to those younger cubs as I think the style they used in those paintings looks WAY different from Rafiki's (I mean the whole video looks different from the whole TLK art style). You can't tell me those purple pigments and cutesy flowers aren't something Makini would draw everywhere lol
Sources of Inspiration:
Sadly not pictured due to the angle and cropping is the headcanon that she paints her nails all the time, and she's always trying different color combos basically every week lol. I adopted that headcanon from iceflowerglow, who depicts Makini with painted nails in their comic "Shining Above Your Head". Other artists I drew inspiration from were Vtoony's "TLG: Kion's Guard" and tango_fizz.le's "Where'd all the time go?" when it came to designing her fully-developed mane.

Top: 2023
Bottom: 2013
The original was pretty much a version of the Kiara's first hunt scene with Shani instead of Kiara, same pose and everything. I did go to my animation source account and discovered the original was still there, and was like, "I kinda wanna make a new, fresh, version of this". So, I did!
First of all, I changed the posing. Perhaps the biggest challenge of them all. It is so so difficult to find references of lions nuzzling each other, and then translating it into the Lion King style. I gave Nala more signs of aging, since she is Shani's grandma.
I think for the story here, it is after Shani returns home to the pride lands after running away as an adolescent and Nala embracing her. When Shani was gone, Simba had died and Kiara became Queen of the Pridelands and thus, Nala becomes the Queen Mother. I like to think that Nala lives to be very old, like the British Queen Mother irl and tells stories of Scar's reign and such. Kiara later grants her formerly estranged daughter the title "Princess Royal".
Anyways, I hope you like it!
PLEASE REBLOG! IT HELPS A LOT!

My thoughts are a bit messy right now but someone please tell me how THE FUCK I DIDN’T NOTICE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN (SIMBA + SCAR) AND (MOBEI-JUN + LINGUANG-JUN) EARLIER?!?!?!?! I’VE BEEN IN THIS DAMN FANDOM SINCE AUG 2022 😭
Simba used to be close with his uncle Scar. Mobei-Jun used to be close to Linguang-Jun as a kid. (both were close to their uncles as kids and trusted them whole-heartedly)
Simba gets betrayed/hurt by his uncle as a child and left for dead after being banished(?) from the Pride Lands. (happens after his uncle kills his father, blames the death on him, then sends hyenas after him to ensure he’s dead) Mobei-Jun is betrayed and left for dead by his uncle as a kid (left in the human realm and forced to survive against grown ass Huan Hua cultivators) (both were betrayed by their uncles as kids and left for dead one way or another)
Scar wants his brother (who he kinda resents) and nephew dead because he wants to be king. Linguang-Jun wants his brother (who he really resents) and his nephew dead because he wants to be king (+ revenge for his brother stealing his wife-to-be) (both want their family members dead so they can be king and have tried to have their nephews killed multiple times)
I got this belated enlightenment while doing house chores and listening to Disney Villain Songs on Spotify (Be Prepared was playing) and everything just clicked).
New head-canons for me guys:
Airplane-bro was inspired by Simba and Scar when he was creating Mobei-Jun’s dynamic/interactions with his uncle. This has led to him making Disney references in multiple chapters of PIDW (and of course, cucumber-bro rants about plagiarism and how much of a shitty author airplane is for not bothering to think of new material).
Ya’ll cannot tell me that baby Mobei-Jun DIDN’T sing or do something similar to “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” when he was too young to understand the real dangers behind being a Northern Desert Prince.
I am now a firm believer of Linguang-Jun singing “Be Prepared” every damn time he tries to convince other demons to go against Mobei-Jun or assassinate him. Man’s gotta use his charisma and great singing voice somehow-
FUCK DOES THAT MEAN THAT BOTH MOBEI AND LINGUANG-JUN HAVE AMAZING SINGING VOICES-
What would be even funnier is if Airplane actually forgets where he got the inspiration for Mobei-Jun’s relationship with his uncle. As far as we know, he was either in his 20s or middle-aged when he died in his first life, and has been alive for around 40-60 years since he first transmigrated. He’s bound to have forgotten some shit from his novel (even if it’s related to his ideal man/wank character).
Imagine if one day Mobei-Jun send Airplane out to spy on Linguang-Jun because the old man has been coming off as more slimy as of late and is practically begging to be monitored. Airplane bro is pissed at both of them because:
a) His King is probably making the right move but he still has a shit ton of paperwork to get done for both Cang Qiong and the Nothern Desert as the Anding Peak Lord and Mobei’s unofficial official adviser
b) Linguang-Jun was just caught for another scheme three fucking days ago and Airplane is so damn tired of all the work he’s had to do to remedy the treaties and alliances his scheming screwed up
Anyways, time skip a bit and Airplane manages to sneak into one of Linguang-Jun’s bases and sees him singing “Be Prepared” to the crowd of enraptured and slightly horny plant demons from the west and just- blanks. Mind you, this happens BEFORE Cucumber-bro becomes Shen Qingqiu, meaning Airplane has been bottling up so many modern day references and songs for the past 60-80 fucking years.
Once Linguang-Jun finishes convincing the plant demons that yes, “murdering my nephew for me will guarantee you and your kin a stable food source and power within my court once I’m King”. He goes back to the Northern Palace and comes across the puny human that his nephew has been trying to court for the past 40 or so years. He’s about to frighten the subject of Mobei-Jun’s failed love life when said human sudden looks at him with a slightly manic smile (which looks even more unnerving since he’s standing eerily still against the palace hallways) and asks,
“Do you know anything about Mickey Mouse, Linguang-Jun…?”

I've seen the trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King and I've read the Lion King fandom's outrage over it. So I've decided to share my own thoughts on the subject.
I agree that nobody asked for a prequel to the 2019 Lion King. That remake was mediocre. Nor am I expecting Mufasa to be much better; I'm not even sure whether I'll go see it or not.
I couldn't care less that the movie is retconning the popular fandom lore of who Mufasa and Scar's parents were and what their childhoods were like, or their backstory from The Lion Guard. None of that was ever official canon anyway.
The one retcon I might object to is that Mufasa and Scar will now be adoptive brothers rather than biological brothers. Some might argue that this makes Scar's eventual crime less horrific. But that will depend on how the movie plays out. If they're raised together through most of their childhood and sincerely think of themselves as brothers, then it doesn't matter whether the same mother gave birth to them or not: Mufasa’s murder is still fratricide.
But it seems as if the biggest source of outrage is the fact that the movie has Mufasa be a commoner lion by birth, which the fans claim goes against the themes of the original film.
The argument is that in the original Lion King, everyone has a destiny and a "place in the circle of life," and to go against it upsets the balance of nature. Scar does this by killing Mufasa, usurping the throne, and bringing the hyenas into the Pride Lands when they don't belong there. Simba is the rightful king because he's Mufasa's son: therefore, it's his responsibility to depose Scar and take the throne he was born to inherit. Therefore (the fans argue), Mufasa must have been the "rightful king" himself who inherited the throne, not a commoner who changed his destiny and gained the throne through his own achievements. If it was otherwise (they argue), then Scar did nothing wrong, because why shouldn't he have made himself king through his own efforts and cunning, or made changes to the animals' social order? And why couldn't Simba have opted out of being king, then, and let the lionesses find some other, more willing young lion to overthrow Scar instead?
Personally, I don't see it that way. Scar's crime isn't just that he became king when he wasn't "the rightful heir": it's that he murdered his brother, and then became a selfish, irresponsible king. The problem with the hyenas isn't just that they "don't belong in the Pride Lands": it's that the Pride Lands' resources can't support a second apex predator group, but Scar brings them in anyway just to uphold his own power. And just because it's wrong of Simba to try to abdicate while the Pride Lands are starving under Scar's reign doesn't inherently mean "only the biological son of the previous king belongs on the throne"!
I'll admit that Mufasa's new backstory is an obvious retcon. In some ways, the original film does seem to say "Everyone has a proper place in the world, predetermined at birth, and to go against it upsets the balance of nature." Over the years, critics have lambasted that "conservative" message, and Disney is obviously trying to "fix it" by retconning the story so that Mufasa wasn't of royal birth and became king through his own merit.
But I don't think the original film's message about the balance of nature and the circle of life inherently means "everyone's life is predetermined at birth and no change in role or status is allowed."
I have no idea if Mufasa will be good, bad, or just as mediocre as the 2019 Lion King, but I don't object to the basic scenario.

Prompt: create a movie concept about a version of Disney's Lion King reinvented as a furry superhero movie
Title: Pride: Reign of Claws
Logline: In a neon-lit metropolis of towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, Simba, a rebellious lion cub with electrokinetic powers, must embrace his destiny as king and protect his pride from the tyrannical reign of Scar, a cunning lion with cybernetic enhancements and a thirst for power.
Characters:
Simba: A headstrong lion cub with the ability to manipulate electricity. He resents the expectations placed upon him as future king and yearns for a life of adventure.
Nala: A brave and resourceful lioness with enhanced agility and parkour skills. She's Simba's best friend and a constant source of support.
Scar: Simba's power-hungry uncle, sporting cybernetic enhancements that augment his strength and agility. He rules Pride City with an iron fist, exploiting its energy resources for his own gain.
Mufasa: The wise and benevolent king of Pride City. He possesses a powerful sonic roar and uses his influence to maintain peace and prosperity. (Mufasa dies earlier in the story, perhaps in a tragic accident caused by Scar's tampering with the city's energy core).
Zazu: A neurotic hornbill with advanced communication technology integrated into his beak. He serves as Mufasa and later Simba's loyal advisor.
Timon & Pumbaa: A meerkat and a warthog duo who run a popular underground club. They provide Simba with a sense of freedom and a break from his royal duties (initially).
Plot:
Simba, a rebellious cub with the ability to control electricity, chafes under the weight of his royal destiny. He dreams of exploring the vibrant underbelly of Pride City, a neon-lit metropolis fueled by a mysterious energy source.
Nala, Simba's best friend and a skilled parkour artist, encourages him to embrace his responsibilities. Tragedy strikes when Scar, Simba's power-hungry uncle, orchestrates an accident that claims Mufasa's life and leaves Scar in control.
Scar's reign is brutal. He uses his cybernetic enhancements and control over the city's energy core to enforce his rule and exploit the resources for his own gain. Pridelanders suffer under his oppressive regime.
Exiled and heartbroken, Simba finds himself in the company of Timon and Pumbaa, a fun-loving duo who run a popular underground club. He embraces a carefree life, neglecting his true potential.
However, Nala tracks him down, pleading with him to return and reclaim his rightful place as king. Witnessing the suffering of his pride reawakens Simba's sense of responsibility. He begins training with Rafiki, a wise mandrill and master of energy manipulation, to hone his electrokinetic powers.
The Rebellion:
Simba returns to Pride City, a changed lion. He rallies the oppressed Pridelanders, inspiring them to fight for their freedom. Nala leads a team of skilled fighters, utilizing their enhanced agility and parkour skills to disrupt Scar's forces.
Zazu, now working with the rebellion, uses his communication tech to expose Scar's lies and rally the citizens.
The Climax:
The climax involves an epic battle atop Pride City's energy core. Simba confronts Scar in a showdown that utilizes their contrasting powers - Simba's raw electrokinetic energy against Scar's brutal cybernetic enhancements.
During the fight, the truth about Mufasa's death is revealed, further fueling Simba's rage. However, Nala reminds him of his father's wisdom and the importance of fighting for what's right, not vengeance.
Simba overpowers Scar, not with brute force, but with a precisely controlled surge of electricity that disrupts Scar's cybernetics and leaves him vulnerable. Scar is apprehended and justice is served.
Themes:
Responsibility vs. freedom: The movie explores the struggle between personal desires and the burden of leadership.
Facing adversity: Simba must overcome his grief and self-doubt to become the hero his pride needs.
The power of community: Simba's victory relies on the united front of the Pridelanders.
Furry Elements:
The characters are anthropomorphic animals (lions, meerkats, warthogs, etc.) with distinct personalities and abilities reflecting their animal counterparts.
The setting is a futuristic urban jungle with a neon-lit aesthetic, showcasing the evolution of the Pride Lands.
The costumes and technologies incorporate elements of animalistic features and futuristic gadgets, creating a unique furry superhero style.
Ending Scene:
Simba is coronated king, with Nala by his side. He addresses the assembled Pridelanders, vowing to use his power for good and rebuild their city. The movie ends

Disney female villains name meanings, part 1:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Movies:
1. Snow White
2. Sleeping Beauty
3. Cinderella
4 The little mermaid
5. The little mermaid 2 return to the sea
6. 101 dalmatians
7. The rescuers
8. Tangled
9. Alice in Wonderland (Live action by Tim Burton)
10. The lion king two Simba's pride.
I got curious and i decided to see what was the meanings of the Disney villainesess, some of them i already know what they meant and others were a surprise, i want to make some aclarations:
. Most names can have multiple meanings, for example, the name "Moira" can mean "Destiny" as well as "Bitter","wished-for child" "drop of the sea" depending of where you are form, that's why i decided to put some diferent meanings in case someone knows a diferent meanings for any of this names.
. Some of this manes are not really names, Gothel is an old-fashioned occupational word and "maleficent" is just an adjective word.
. Iracebeth is pretty munch just the word "Irascible" with "Beth" added at the end to make it sound like a real female name, i know that the Queen of hearts (or Red Queen) in the live action is completely diferent from the animated version, but the thing is, i'm sure that the OG Queen of Heart's didn't really had a name, i read somewhere that her name is actually Mary Elizabeth Heart but i couldn't find any real source that confirms it, is not in her wiki and i'm sure that they never said her name in the movie. Meanwhile, in the live action the Red Queen gets a name and to be fair, i like her name more than the name "Mary Elizabeth" so i decided to go with that one.
. This is only the first part, soon i'll post the second one.

I spent two days writing this and I would like some recognition because I have no one else to share it with.
I would like to preface this by saying that the original film is my absolute favourite of all time. Surprisingly, I actually really liked the remake! It is not without it’s flaws, and I hope to rectify them because no one can fucking stop me and I have to do something to relax after my exam.
I always considered the franchise to be the closest thing that Disney has to true epic fantasy and the genre will serve as a source of inspiration for my amendments.
1. The Animation and Character Design:
I actually thought that the animation and character designs were brilliant. Lions are my favourite animal and I have been watching nature documentaries religiously since I was a child. The remake hit a perfect spot between realism and the aesthetics of the original characters. The landscape and such is a different matter, but I will get into that eventually.
My biggest gripe is one that is commonly shared by pretty much everyone that saw the film, the expressions or lack thereof. Real lions can squint, curl their lips, crease their brow and basically move their faces. You would be surprised by how expressive they can be.
Some people may say that it would anthropomorphise them too much and be unrealistic but we have a monarchy of talking lions, so who gives a fuck?
This is also a minor thing that only nature nuts would notice but the lions move wrong. They have this weird loping gait when they should run in what’s called a “rotary gallop” like real lions. The original film literally showed this in slow motion when Simba runs through the desert.
2. The Pridelands and Beyond:
The Pridelands need a lot of work. Everything is too beige and boring. It was as if they couldn’t decide between a golden arid savannah or a lush green one and just meshed the two into one boring mess.
Minas Tirith, Mordor and The Shire are all incredibly iconic and instantly recognisable. The same should be true for the Pridelands and the rest of the world.
Pride Rock should be an absolute monolith. A giant that looms in the background of every scene in the Pridelands and a believable capital for a kingdom (I’ll get more into this later). Not just tall but broad, a sprawling wild metropolis.
The Graveyard is an inhospitable hellhole. Always shrouded in shadow born from the ashes and noxious clouds spewed from geothermal activity. Thick clouds of mist and fog blanket the landscape, leaving bones and carcasses to loom out of the smog like giant teeth and claws.
The Gorge is a massive scar in the landscape. A Grand Canyon-esque pit that swallows light and just screams doom. The jungle that Simba winds up in needs to be more colourful and lively, a real paradise in the desert.
I think that a lot of the issues with the setting comes down to the fact that they acted as if they were on an actual set and not an animated world.
3. Ecology and Society
We need more wildlife.
More animals should have been at the presentation of Simba. Leopards and African Wild Dogs, Hippos and Crocodiles, even Gorillas and other jungle creatures should have been part of the montage of animals at the beginning. Migratory birds should have been present to bring the news back to their respective homelands (if Buckingham Palace can make international news then so can Pride Rock). Hyenas would also be part of the procession (this ties into something later).
Mufasa explaining the circle of life would include some scenes of various animals asking their king for counsel.
I would expand on the pride itself. It’s rare but some exceptionally large prides have subordinate males that can mate with the lionesses. This would avoid a lot of incestous connotations and make the pride more like a royal court (I have plans for Nala).
I would also change the wildebeest herd to a Cape buffalo herd. Cape buffalo are notorious lion killers and can live in herds up to a thousand strong. Shenzi and the gang send the calves first into the gorge and the rest of the herd would follow.
I would also pepper in references that Shenzi and her clan are mostly comprised of vagabonds, outcasts and exiles from other clans. The hyenas from the opening sequence would be some more positive examples. This may seem like “not all hyenas (tm)” but it’s better than them just being the Orcs of the savannah.
4. Characters and Characterisation
I’m not going to do everyone, just the characters that I have a firm grasp on what I would have done.
Scar: a vicious aristocrat. Really play up the gentlemanly aspects of his personality to contrast with an absolutely black heart. Like Palpatine his sole reason to live is the pursuit of power. All the brutality of Tywin Lannister with the underhanded slyness of Petyr Baelish. This makes him ambitious as hell but doesn’t translate to being a good ruler.
Shenzi: a calculated ruler that cares only for the betterment of her subjects. Queen of the Graveyard and willing to do anything to feed her clan of the lost and exiled. She and Scar were once genuine friends but now they are only using each other for their own gain.
Rafiki: kooky and mystic. They are basically Gandalf on mushrooms. Wielding a very subtle and ambiguous form of magic. I use gender neutral pronouns because I wouldn’t be opposed to making them female like in the broadway show.
Nala: a fierce huntress and the only hope for the pride during the reign of Scar. I would also make her a princess from another pride that has been betrothed to Simba. This gets rid of the incest questions and helps lay the groundwork for a sequel.
The Pride and the Subjects: I would place greater emphasis on the pride itself and the citizens of the Pridelands. Show the growing discord between the pride and the clan. The other animals are getting sick of Scar’s misrule and are either leaving or are in quiet revolt.
Mtumishi: a cape cobra and a new character. Zazu was major-domo for Mufasa, Shenzi serves the same role for Scar and Mtumishi serves his own royal. Mtumishi repeatedly visits the Pridelands under the orders of his queen, Zira. Zira rules Nala’s original pride and is a great figure of fear and conquest. She’s basically a family friendly lioness version of Vlad the Impaler.
I don’t really have anything of significance to say about everyone else. I would like to see more Sarabi but I’m happy with the other characters.
5. Plot and Story
I have already mentioned some additions that I would make in the previous sections but I’ll list a few more here. I would keep the same overall plot but with just some stuff added in.
We need to include the Hunt of the Lionesses from the broadway show. We don’t need to be too gory but I still think that it would be a brilliant addition to the film. It would give a greater emphasis to the lionesses and a short prayer after the hunt would reiterate the message of the Circle of Life.
I would expand on the meeting between Scar and the hyenas. Shenzi and her clan have just been humiliated by Mufasa. They have pushed their luck and now fear retaliation from the entire kingdom. Enter Scar with promises of food and security. He plays most of the clan like fiddles. Shenzi is wise to his schemes but doesn’t really have a choice. They have no idea no other allies and she is out options.
Scar would stop Zazu and the pride just before they got to the gorge. He would spin a few lies about no one needing to see the state of Mufasa and Simba. He would take care of everything and strongly encourage a heartbroken Sarabi to abdicate.
I would contrast Simba growing up in the jungle with Nala growing up in the Pridelands. Simba having fun with Timon and Pumbaa vs Nala cowering from a passing battalion of hyenas, Simba being desperately lonely as the only lion in the jungle vs Nala growing up in a tight knit community of older lionesses and other cubs, Simba battling leopards and other jungle hunters to protect Timon and Pumbaa vs Nala becoming a great huntress and protecting the smaller carnivores from competitive hyenas. Eventually, Sarabi and the rest of the pride scheme to send Nala to find help. The nearest pride belongs to Zira and that is a no-go. She must go further afield and eventually winds up in the jungle.
The conversation between Simba and Mufasa’s spirit is much more mystical. Rafiki leads Simba to the puddle in the thorns and his staring into the ripples of his reflection sucks him into an endless clearing beneath the night sky. He Lives in You starts crying as the stars come to land and form different animals. Not just African animals, but pretty much all of them. Bears, whales, jaguars, kangaroos, komodo Dragons, penguins and many more. This riot of life and light eventually leads to Mufasa himself. The vision ends with Simba back with Rafiki.
Mtumishi would be a reoccurring character relaying between the Pridelands and Zira. Scar’s growing madness and the disappearance of Nala bring his role to a climax when Scar sends him packing just before Simba returns. This is to help set up a possible sequel.
Everything else I would leave as-is or I need more time to figure it out.
What do you guys think?

Daffy: The good news is, we found your daughter. The bad news is, we dropped an anvil on her. Is there a problem with that?
Porky: P-P-P-Peta? P-P-PETA?

It never fails to ~tickle~ me when the same stans that deem Scott a ~colonizer~ of werewolf culture will proudly say that the land ~belongs~ to the Hale family whom, last I checked, were white people. They deploy terms like colonizer yet firmly believe the land is "Hale land" ignoring the Native Nations that resided and reside on what is currently known as Beacon Hills, California. You know... the state that has some of the most tribes right behind what is known as Oklahoma.
So much Hale centric fic has Manifest Destiny undertones/overtures, preaching about "territory" and "the fat of the land" with implications that Beacon Hills can only thrive if the Hales are in power. Similar to Simba having to reclaim his space in the delicate, sacred circle of life so that Pride Rock can flourish since it has become barren since the usurper Scar took over.
So many fics talk about how the Hale family settled in the area but none actually acknowledge they're SETTLERS. And rich ones at that. They built Beacon Hills but who was displaced as a result? Was there a history of segregation? What of the Preserve? Which Indigenous nations stewarded the land?
I love how your Kira fic touches upon this briefly by having Deaton talk about the history of Indigenous people who cared for the land and how the Druids asked them for permission with the nemeton. But it's the only one I can think of that does this.
I've heard how some people defend it with "the Hales descend from the indigenous wolves" but why are they white?
Tumblr media
When reading your question, I was struck by this phrase "deploy terms like colonizer." Because, that's exactly what they're doing, isn't it? They're using the term without regard for the greater context and without caring if the term actually applies or not. Above all, they do not even attempt to make their own views consistent. Why? Because they've been told that since this is fiction and it has no greater meaning, there is no need to determine if their actions are ethical.
So, let's do the opposite.
The first step is to make a good faith effort to understand their point of view. How can Scott McCall be seen as a colonizer? It's only possible if you consider "Teen Wolf" werewolves as having a distinct and independent culture, one to which Scott did not originally belong. He can also be seen as a colonizer if he entered that culture's space without invitation in order to exploit the resources within that space. This would be aggravated if he attempted, by force or manipulation, to alter that culture to serve his needs more effectively. The ultimate expression would be if he took possession of that culture by asserting authority over it.
To parts of the fandom, they interpret werewolves having a distinct and independent culture, that of "born wolves." Scott is a "bitten wolf" so he is an other; he does not belong. Scott is seen as taking the benefits of the Bite and using them to get a girlfriend and making first line on the lacrosse teams, yet rejecting the source from which he drew those benefits. He is seen as rejecting the "born wolf" way of doing things, including their sense of justice and their respect for the authority of an alpha, and -- especially in Season 2 -- demanding that the Derek, a born werewolf, stop building a pack. Finally, Scott's rise to True Alpha is seen as illegitimate usurpation of the authority in the culture, which should belong to the established hereditary rulers.
Given this interpretation, calling Scott a colonizer is a possibility -- unfortunately for them, it is almost entirely wrong.
Werewolves in Teen Wolf do have distinct cultural practices, such as the spiral indicating revenge, the pack symbol tattoos, but most of them are connected to their supernatural nature. But they are also part of the greater human culture in which they live. Derek and Peter play basketball and they enjoy it. Satomi enjoys Go and is a practicing Buddhist. The twins are motorcycle freaks. But more importantly, they don't hold born wolves in greater regard than bitten wolves. The only advantage we actually learn is that born wolves have an easier time learning control, and that only makes sense since they live in families where the practice is established. Satomi is a bitten wolf, and Brett and Lori -- born wolves -- being in her pack is not seen as a disruption of the natural order. Most of the wolves on the show do not reveal if they are born or bitten. So, Scott being a Bitten wolf does not make him an outsider anymore than Satomi is.
Scott also does not exploit being a werewolf to get a girlfriend or make first line. He was already working toward First Line and made it before he even understood what was happening to him. Exploitation requires a will behind it. Allison didn't go out with him because he was a lacrosse star; she did it because he was kind. His rejection of Peter's and Derek's arguments in Seasons 1 and 2 weren't his rejection of werewolf culture; they were rejection of their individual decisions. Deucalion, the Demon Wolf, scorned Peter "Don't throw me in with sociopaths like your uncle," and Peter scorned Derek "you haven't exactly been Alpha of the Year." When Scott tried to stop Derek from biting teenagers, it wasn't because he was rejecting the cultural practice. He rightfully saw that Derek biting them was only putting the four teenagers in harm's way.
The ultimate argument against Scott as Colonizer is that he never never uses his True Alpha status to try to force anyone outside his pack to obey or follow his mortal dictates. His conflict with Peter in Season 4 is Peter's goal. Stiles is part of his pack by choice in Season 5. He doesn't scorn the Primal, and he asks for allies. His only use of the status of True Alpha is a bluff on Aiden, which Aiden ignores without consequence.
But we already knew this, didn't we?
So what difference does it make? Well, there's a common sentiment on this site that you shouldn't to judge anyone for their behavior in regards to a fictional world, because, as they argue, it's not real. But their behavior is real. If they employ important real-world concepts like colonization in discussions of their favorite fictional material, that's real. And it has real consequence. Deploying the concept of colonization as short hand for "why wasn't this story centered on rich white men?" is no longer limited to your immediate friends group. It's now read by thousands if not tens of thousands.
We all love the Chris Fleming meme about learning about something in an unrelated post? People learn and repeat what they learn, and labeling a Latino protagonist as a colonizer of rich white men and getting away with it teaches a lot of people the wrong thing.
