SAY DON'T GO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧.* "Why'd you have to make me want you? Why'd you have to give me nothin' back? Why'd you have to make me love you? I said, "I love you", you say nothin' back."
pairing. ellie williams x f!reader summary. ellie confesses her feelings for her best friend. it doesn't go as hoped. based on say don't go by taylor swift. warning. angst!! with plans for a happy ending depending on if you guys want a part 2. w.c. 2400.
It's cold in Jackson.
You tug the sleeves of your sweater starchly over your fingertips, fighting to ignore the chill that whips at your cheeks as you cross your arms beneath your chest.
The Tipsy Bison looms ahead of you, an amber glow pouring from the windows and into the empty, snow-ridden street.
Rocking on the balls of your feet, you deliberate whether or not you should run back to your place and change. It's a bit of a walk, and the thin layer of snow piling at your feet makes it less than ideal, but it beats catching frostbite.
Who wears a skirt in December?
You're about to make a break for it when — before you can even register her presence — a slender pair of hands drapes a jacket across your shoulders.
"You look pretty," the owner of the hands says. "Nice skirt."
A familiar warmth spreads to your cheeks as Ellie steps into your line of sight. Unlike you, she's dressed for the weather in a casual grey hoodie and winter boots, her signature green parka now hanging from your shoulders.
Warm breath hits your face as Ellie leans forward and pulls the jacket tighter across your figure.
Her hair's pulled back into a low bun, and something twists in your chest as your eyes take in her freckled features, latching onto where they're dusted pink from the cold.
You tug a lip between your teeth, choosing to ignore the fuzzy feeling that's become intrinsically linked with Ellie's presence.
Cute, you think.
"It's Dina's," you say, eyebrows scrunching together. "I'm cold as shit, though. I feel stupid."
A wolf-whistle resounds from Ellie's lips.
"Well thank you, Dina," she sing-songs, her voice low. You grow hot under her gaze, belly swirling as those green eyes take you in. "It'll be warmer inside. Keep the jacket, though."
"Are you sure? I feel bad."
"Angel, don't," Ellie says conclusively, waving a hand. "It looks better on you than it does me anyway."
Her mouth quirks to the side, a smirk playing at her lips as she tucks loose hair behind your ear.
You open your mouth to protest, but she's already reaching for your hand and dragging you inside.
In the midst of an apocalypse, the Tipsy Bison is alive and well.
It thrums with life, the citizens of Jackson all gathering in what Maria has called "a celebration of years of peaceful occupation".
Or, as Jesse liked to call it, a "Hey, we're still not dead!" party.
"You made it!" Dina exclaims, eyes bright as you join her and Jesse at the bar. Jesse greets the both of you with a simple salute as Dina moves to hug Ellie first, then you, firm hands settling on your cloaked shoulders. "And you look amazing."
She eyes the skirt, and you feel a little self-conscious as the group's attention falls on your outfit. "Right, Ellie?"
Her tone is conspiratorially light as she looks pointedly at the auburn-haired girl, something unspoken transpiring between the two of them. Ellie looks away, scratches at her neck.
You stare at the floor, hoping that if you look hard enough it'll swallow you whole and save you the embarrassment of whatever they're currently thinking about you.
Jesse raises his brows at his girlfriend, who gives him the kind of look that says "What?" and rolls her eyes, turning to face you instead.
"So," Dina says, leaning against the bar. "What's new? How's everything going with the garden?"
You almost sigh, grateful for the chance to speak about something other than your choice of attire. You launch into a discussion about Jackson's community garden, a project you'd been overseeing for the last month or so.
Sometime between discussing the tomato shortage and unearthing the details of the temporary caterpillar problem, Ellie pulls you against her, pressing your back to her front.
She casually rests her hands on either side of your waist, thumbs rubbing hypnotic circles against your hips.
It's around this time that you forget how to talk.
You know, consciously, that you're still speaking. And you know those words must be making some kind of sense, because Dina is nodding and Jesse's making quips, but none of it registers over the roar of blood rushing to your ears.
There's this other thing, too. The thing you shove down as you squeeze your thighs shut, trying to dull an ache you don't fully understand. Not yet, anyway.
"So, yeah," you cough, bringing the story to halt. "That's about it."
After another couple minutes of mindless chatter, Dina and Jesse take to the dancefloor, and you're left alone with Ellie.
Her voice is a low murmur against the shell of your ear.
"You okay, angel?"
Angel.
"Uh, yeah," you say, pulling out of her grip. "Just hot, I think. Is it just me or is it, like, really warm in here?"
It's almost comical how quickly you strip out of her jacket, flinging it across one of the stools. You turn to face her, hoping the heat in your cheeks doesn't flare as much as it burns.
The corner of Ellie's lip quirks downward at the loss of contact, eyebrows cinching together. She reaches to bring you back to her, but you're already moving backward.
"I think I'm gonna go dance," you say before she can get a word in edgewise.
You make for the dancefloor, desperate to quieten the roaring in your ears.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
Older music blares from the overhead speakers, a song you recognise pouring into the venue. You let the beat carry your movements and join the pulse of bodies moving in time with the music.
"Mind if I join you?" a voice asks from behind you.
You turn, immediately faced with a boy about your age.
"Max!" you exclaim, drawing him into a hug. You recognise him instantly as the person you'd been partnered with for stables duties last spring, right before he'd switched assignments. "Hey, how are you?"
Max flashes you a toothy grin. "I'm great. Not as great as you, though. You look... wow."
He raises a hand, gesturing to your outfit.
"It's just a skirt," you say dismissively. "And this is probably the last time I'll wear one of these, anyway. Too much attention."
"I'm sure."
You blink at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean that you've got to know how beautiful you are. It makes sense you're getting a little attention."
"That's sweet but..." you laugh, awkwardly. "I don't really get much attention from anyone, really. I was referring to my friends."
Max quirks a brow. "Well you've got to know why that is."
You tilt your head, not quite getting it.
"Come on," Max says, shaking his head. "It's obvious."
His gaze shifts, and you follow his line of sight to where Ellie is standing at the bar. She's staring at you, hard. Something unreadable flickers in her eyes, her jaw set as she looks straight ahead.
You look away quickly.
Shaking your head, you ask: "Ellie? What does she have to do with anything?"
"Wow. Don't tell me you're that oblivious."
"Oblivious to..."
"Everyone thinks the two of you are together."
You pause. "What? No, we're just friends."
Max laughs, almost meanly. "You sure about that? The girl's attached to you like an extra limb."
"I'm her best friend," you reiterate.
Max didn't get it — Ellie had lost a lot of people she really cared about.
She didn't like to talk about life pre-Jackson that much, but it made sense to you that she'd be a little clingy after going through something like that.
"Sorry, sorry," Max says, raising his hands in defense. "I don't mean to pry. I'm just saying that's probably why everyone steers clear. I mean, she can be pretty scary."
"Ellie's harmless," you say, your words unconvincing to your own ears.
You recall her eyes burning holes into the two of you.
She can be pretty scary.
"So, a couple of us are heading out," Max says, changing the subject. "A buddy of mine found an abandoned park a little way's out. Might shoot up some infected and hang out for a while. Interested?"
You nod. It sounds exactly like the type of thing you're very much not interested in, to be honest.
You glance over to the bar, catching Ellie's intense gaze, and feel a pit of anxiety form in your stomach.
"Yeah," you say, slowly. "I'll be there. Just let me say bye to my friends."
He grins as you excuse yourself and walk over to where Ellie is standing.
"I'm heading out," you say as you approach her. "Max invited me to go with him and some others outside of town for a little while."
Ellie's brows scrunch together. "What?"
"Yeah, we're thinking of, uhm, shooting up some infected and hanging out at the park—"
"Not happening."
You frown. "Excuse me?"
Ellie rolls her eyes, scoffing. "Not fucking happening."
"I don't remember asking your permission?"
"Are you stupid?" She asks, tone harsh. "You think Maria would sign off on something like this?"
"Since when do you care about what Maria signs off on? She's distracted with the party, anyway."
"I care that you're putting yourself in danger," Ellie huffs. "You call me to come take care of it when there's a spider in your room. You can't handle infected."
"I'll be with Max and his friends," you say firmly. "They're all on patrol."
Ellie's laugh is forced. "Yeah, because Max and his dickhead friends are going to protect you. First sign of a bloater and they're running to save their own asses."
You open your mouth to protest, but she's quick to cut you off.
"I'm coming with you," she says. "Let me get my gun."
Max's voice rings in your ears.
The girl's attached to you like an extra limb.
"I don't think that's a good idea," you say, quietly.
Something flashes in Ellie's eyes. Confusion, at first. Then hurt.
You suddenly feel like an asshole.
You want to reach out and smooth the crease in her brows, tell her you're sorry — even if you aren't quite sure what for.
Ellie's gaze flickers between you and the crowd. "So this is about him, then."
Him. She says it like it burns.
You don't know what game you're playing anymore. You don't care about Max, you never have.
But when you're around Ellie, everything's too much — too hot, too fucking intense, too saturated — and you don't know what it means, or how to turn it off.
I'm her best friend.
It makes you feel like shit.
So, you nod.
"Yeah," you say, against your better judgement. "I was thinking it'd be nice to get to know him a little. One on one."
"Right."
Silence.
"Is that okay?"
Music bleats from the speakers. For a second, Ellie doesn't say anything.
And then: "Don't."
You look up, dragging your eyes away from their fixation on the hardwood floor.
"Don't go. Please."
She says the words like they're hard to get out. Painful, even.
"Ellie," you say, softly. "I'll be safe."
"It's not that. Not just that, I mean."
You stare at her, but she isn't looking back, too busy picking dutifully at the peeling skin on her fingers.
You resist the urge to reach forward and close your hands around her own to get her to stop.
"Then what is it?"
Ellie's inhale is shaky. "I didn't want to... at least not like this... fuck, this is awkward."
The song on the speakers changes to an 80s number you recognise from Joel's CD collection. It draws Ellie from her thoughts, makes her huff with frustration.
You take her hand, dragging her outside and onto the porch. It's quieter here, but you'd forgotten how cold it was, wincing as it immediately bites at your cheeks.
You cross your arms over your chest and look at Ellie, who lets out a strained: "Look... angel, you've gotta know how I feel about you."
Not what you'd been expecting.
"How you... feel about me?"
"Yeah." Ellie walks over to the wooden banister, her green eyes reluctantly meeting yours as you come up beside her.
"I don't get it," you say, puzzled.
Ellie's voice is barely above a whisper. "You're really gonna make me say it, huh?"
She braces herself, rests both hands against the banister. Another shaky breath.
"I... fucking hell." She runs a hand across her face. "I love you."
"I love you too? What does that—"
"No," Ellie says, cutting you off. Her hand hangs in the air between you. "Not just... not just as a friend."
Oh. Oh.
Her confession settles between you like fallen snow. Heavy, thick.
Cold.
Ellie leans forward, green eyes searching yours. "Wait, you seriously didn't know?"
I love you. Not just as a friend.
You shake your head. None of this makes any sense.
"You never...there was no indication—"
"No indication? Angel, I gave you my jacket."
"Okay, but that doesn't necessarily mean—"
"Whenever you come over, I let you sleep in my bed—"
"I thought you were just cold—"
"I call you angel, for fuck's sake—"
"I thought you called everyone angel."
Ellie looks at you, incredulous. "Have you ever heard me call Dina 'angel'?"
"No, but—"
"What about Jesse? Have you ever seen me cuddling Jesse?"
"We're best friends!" you exclaim. "That's what best friends do!"
It's like a tap has been opened, the words flooding out of you in a rush. This was all too much, too soon.
Ellie didn't love you.
She couldn't.
Silence.
"Is that... what we are to you?" Ellie asks, the crack in her voice betraying her.
Your words are soft, tentative.
"I don't know how to be anything else."
At that moment, the doors to the Tipsy Bison swing open. Max walks out of the bar, his friends flanking him from both sides. He sidles up to you, swings a hefty arm across your shoulders.
"You ready to go?" He asks, a wide smile plastered across his red face. The smell of nicotine washes over you as he talks.
I love you. Not just as a friend.
You nod, and Ellie's face falls.
"Great!" Max exclaims. "See you around, Ellie."
And then he leads you by the shoulders, pulling you away from the one real thing you've ever known, a crestfallen Ellie watching from the porch.

hey jealousy
Tumblr media
content warning: mature themes (it's cod, i'm not sure what else you'd expect at this point), mature language, brooding and emotionally sheltered ghost, really shitty british/scottish/aussie slang, ghost is kind of a... typical relationship believer, use of the word femme but in a demeaning and not sexy way. might continue this in a second part, but ghost and flukey do not get together in the end.
synopsis: ghost hears about flukey's partner. he's not as unbothered as the rest of the force about it, though. very loosely based off of the song 'boyfriend' by lou bega.
can be read as a continuation of "penny for your thoughts", or read as a standalone piece.
lost where i was going after basically falling into a work-related writer's block.
flukey is an oc.
that last mission was, well, a fluke, in lack of a better term. sure, their resident female sergeant was nearly killed on the roof of a thirty story skyscraper in a village of turkish insurgents trying to overthrow the current president, erdoğan, to start a "new, glorious era" for the country.
at least, that's in the opinion of the victim herself, who's currently limping from the on-base infirmary towards the barracks to start piling her things into a bag.
medical leave, she thinks to herself. a blessin', if there was actually a promise she'd be brought back.
price– ever the worried father figure for his rag-tag family of highly trained soldiers– had essentially demanded that she be sent home with time to heal, especially since he didn't want to have another family he had to travel to and deliver the terrible, terrible news with a folded uniform, dog tags, and a duffel bag of personal belongings.
soap and gaz had both been, quite honestly, jealous at first of the idea of a break. sure, the idea of a short leave was preferential to medical leave, especially considering the potential of no longer being needed by the 141.
ghost, however, had been the most shaken up about the whole ordeal, even if he was doing a damn good job of hiding it. he'd almost lost one of his most... 'unique' sergeants just because she decided to charge into and clear a building by herself.
hyper-indenpendence never did anyone any good, ghost reminds himself, completely missing the irony in that thought process.
she's actually been avoiding said superior like the plague; not out of fear of a lecture or being in trouble. nothing of the sort! in fact, rather, she's been trying to avoid a worried stare from the lieutenant that's nothing short of unnerving before she's simply told to 'be more careful'. plus, well, the man has a tendency to stalk around when one of his sergeants is hurt.
she can still remember soap's bitching about how ghost would, quite literally, follow him around everywhere on base after he was shot by graves in las almas. it was all "ah need space, lt" this, and "steamin jesus, am just takin' a piss!" that.
nothin' i would be wanting, she reminds herself as she continues to quietly creep her way towards the barracks. can barely handle him when he's not trying to keep me safe, can't imagine how fuckin' creepy it'd be when he's just.. watching over you, like a circling vulture.
this all grants her one big gift when she accomplishes her stealthy trek across the base; silence to pack her things. flukey's not one who tends to be excited for the prospect of leave, home is such a foreign concept when you've been on the field and travelling the world to save it so often. not to mentiion the change in routine takes nearly the entire leave to get used to.
not to mention to anyone but herself, either, but she can't quite sleep without her fellow soldiers around. even if she tends to bitch and moan about price's god awful dad snores, the sound of soap sleepwalking towards the mess hall each night with gaz in tow trying to lure him back to bed... it's familiar. brings her this faux semblance of normalcy, peace.
as she breaches the threshold of the public space into her private little sanctuary of the women's barracks, a deep sigh leaves her lips, the sound making her sound much more like a grizzled war vet than a relatively fresh recruit to a team of hyper-elite specialists.
just as she makes her way to her bunk, plopping her ass down to let out a sigh of relief and release– a metaphorical weight off her shoulders– three sets of footsteps are making their way towards the main door of the barracks, which causes her to sigh.
based off of the barely there sound from one, it's most definitely ghost as one part of this trio, then based off of the bounding thumps of nothing but unbridled confidence, soap is there too. by process of elimination, that leaves only the stupidest rookie alive, or gaz.
"flukey? y'in there, lass?" the familiar scottish drawl comes through the door, followed by a soft knock and a hushed utterance of something about privacy and assumptions from a much less accented voice. gaz it is.
"the fuck else w'd i be, dickwit? got a bum leg only good 'nough to shove up yer mum's arse," she barks back, this being enough of a response for the doorknob to twist, a soft pressure to be applied, before all three men pile inside.
soap's seeming much better than he had been when the squad had left him and gaz on base during the mission a few hours prior, gaz seeming rather sheepish about the intrusion of her space but also quite fascinated to note the differences between male and female accommodations, but ghost...
well, what else would he be, if he weren't staring?
"y'seem in a bonnie mood, i take it," the scot continues to taunt, not necessarily understanding the absolute grizzly bear that he's poking. not even poking, really; trying to shove a scope up the bears ass, dry, no prep. the other two men seem to gauge this, however, based on the fact that gaz gives him a light shove.
"figure 't this rate, i'd be better off workin' asses to elbows, pickin' up bullets from the battlefields," flukey responds with a grumble, anxiously rubbing her hand over the sore, bandaged wound on her thigh, with a bit too much pressure. "but i'll quit raggin' when my squeeze's here to take me 'ome."
now this catches the attention of each of the three men, to varying degrees; soap's got the look of a schoolboy who just found out his closest mate has a crush on the teacher, gaz seems far more like a cousin finding out his favorite uncle's lifestory, and ghost seems as observant yet fauxly unamused as always.
"you never mentioned anyone back home before," gaz prods, though he's got the bare minimum of respect to get her military-grade duffel bag handed over to her so she can lazily pack. "nothing special?"
"bet 'e's a real lady-killer if he got a catch like ye, hen," johnny immediately cuts in, cheesing like a finance major right before a bubble burst, and just like that flukey wishes she had just bitten her cheek and never acknowledged the men in the first place.
oh, how a bullet passin' through the temple would be absolute fucking heaven, she muses, instead i luck out, stuck with three kazoos.
"he's fine," she responds, voice too curt for what she had meant. "'m not tellin' ye much more than that, quit yer naggin, ya jag."
this is, quite simply, not enough to whet the appetites of the curious men. this is obvious when gaz looks at her with wide, hopeful eyes and a soft smile, as soap goes through the room and gets into all of her belongings, and ghost merely looms at the door, arms crossed yet his watchful eyes continue to stare.
with a sigh, she sets her head in her hands, refusing to look the men in the eyes. "he's nice. name's santino, met 'im stationed for training in italy."
and then, the questions fly. what's he look like, what does she mean by "nice", why wouldn't she just pay attention to the lessons.. and it's all too much for someone who simply wants to rest.
"christ, if i show you doofuses a picture, will you bugger off?" the redhead groans out, the two young, eager men nodding their heads quite easily as they approach quickly to get a glimpse of their fellow sergeant's personal life.
ghost, meanwhile, sticks close to the doorframe, leaned against it like some sort of shitty, inconveniently placed statue, blocking the door for anyone trying to enter or exit, yet he uses his slight height advantage over the other two men to glance over their shoulders, eyes narrowed to catch a glimpse of the man flukey's apparently dating.
she produces a small, folded polaroid from the pocket of her vest, taking the chance to remove the obstructive gear to take a natural, freeing breath, then handing it over to gaz to let the two men fight over who gets the first peek.
ultimately, the lieutenant silently decides it's his turn to finally engage in the conversation, stepping forward and snatching the picture from garrick's fingers, making soap huff a complaint while kyle himself is just surprised and a bit startled by his superior's silent movement.
the picture isn't much to gawk or gape at, ghost reckons. a shittily taken picture in some cheap aussie dive bar, lights low with bright grins on both faces. flukey's got her hair free– ghost had no idea she had curls, though the complaints over the low buns all the time suddenly made sense– in some shoddy, cheap dress that's mostly hidden because of the crossed-arm stature of photo, with slightly smeared lip gloss, soft eyes turned that feral red from the bright flash of the camera.
and just like that, he's realized he hasn't even glanced over at the man in the picture that was the reason he had been so impulsively eager to snatch the photograph from kyle's hand.
he's.. quite plain, if you ask simon. think of any generic italian man, and there he is. dark hair in a slightly overgrown quiff, eyes so dark they're nearly black, skin that oh so common cappuccino tone, a build so unremarkable you'd confuse him for a cardboard cut-out.
"e's too twink-ish," ghost grumbles out, handing the photo back to gaz who finally gets the chance to look at the picture, then having it immediately snatched again by johnny. "didn't take you as a beta-man type of woman."
something about this– something that, to any rational and properly socialized person, makes sense– aggravates flukey. what, exactly, remains a mystery. maybe it was how he assumed something of her.
both soap and gaz, though, seem to recognize the faux pas, and while they both seem worried for the well-being of their lieutenant after such a crass remark, johnny's muttering something to garrick that seems to have his attention instead.
"get stuffed, lieutenant," she barks, taking the picture back from the other two men and folding it back up. "never asked for your opinion on the blokes i fuck. not very like you to arse around either, so fuck off, y'old bag."
ghost, not quite understanding what would cause such a sudden outburst, furrows his brows under his mask and is prepared to shout back about insubordination and mention the absolute gall of this woman trying to shout at her superior. the nerve of this tiny little thing, the one he saved from certain doom, bleeding out in the middle of some warzone in turkey–
"ghost, mate, a word? let's give fluke some space," gaz speaks up, gently setting his hand on the lieutenant's shoulder, turning his attention away from the offended woman who would, quite honestly, fight him tooth and nail for her boyfriend's honor.
the lieutenant himself isn't quite sure of the idea of letting her get away with such an offence, but as soap is also elbowing him out of the room, he reasons it's for the best, and follows the two men out, brows still furrowed and stare as hard as ever.
after the door is closed, gaz is ready to lay into the man, even if he's built like a brickwall-sized fridge, solid muscle and nothing but technical expertise. he can't help it, he's used to his two little sisters always needing him to step between them to solve their conflicts.
gaz, always the mediator, no matter what situation he's in, where he is in the world, and whoever he's around.
"the fuck's with you, sir?" he asks simon, his face scrunched into a grimace. "you can't just go and disrespect your sergeant's partner like that, it's blatant disrespect, even if you're used to being mean," he reasons. and while ghost seems even offended that kyle would even dare to open his mouth, soap is nodding along, so he keeps his thoughts to himself.
"aye, lt, the fuck's in yer heid, y'eejit?" the scot asks, tone a bit more gruff than expected, but ghost is just left standing there, processing his own train of thoughts that brought him to this point.
"...never thought she'd be the dating type," ghost mumbles aloud, not really answering either man's question directly, but answering it in such a way that both of his sergeants are looking at him with this... side-eye glance at each other. sharing a wordless secret.
"and why's that?" gaz interjects before soap can try and brush it off there. ghost recognizes that look in the demolitionists' eyes, and it makes him feel a bit of gratitude, even for the thought of the attempt.
"..s'pposed she was more of a traditional type, not much of a femme-chaser." the lieutenant mutters, then shaking his head at the two of them. "i'm off. she can talk to me when she's ready." then, without another word, he leaves the two sergeants standing alone outside flukey's door.
"he needs–" "tae get laid? aye, nailed it righ' on the head, gaz."

Nothin’ On You // Sero x Shy!Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Kinda long! But I owe Sero for taking so long on finishing this! Hope you like it! ^^
The first time you meet is for a school project
In middle school he was the cool guy that got along with pretty much everyone. At first you would hide away, which was easy with a quirk like yours. You would turn translucent and mute according to your mood, so every time you tried to muster up the courage to talk to him when he passed you by in the halls, you would completely disappear. It was a game of chance to see who was paired with who when the fated project came up, but when you were paired with Sero you almost entirely disappeared off of the face of the earth. You begin to wonder if you could escape class without being noticed when he makes his way over and plops down in the seat next to you.
"Name's Hanta Sero, what's yours?"
Your face flushes, body turning translucent for a split second before you take his hand and shake it. "It's..." Your voice fails you. Of course it had to happen now. Your quirk just had to be a two-in-one kind of deal.
Lifting a finger, you scribble your name down on a loose piece of paper and offer it to him.
He looks at the scrap of paper with curiosity. “Cute name.” He looks back to you. “Is that your quirk? The..?” He motions to his body and mouth.
You nod sagely.
He beams. "Nice to meet you."
The tension in your shoulders lessen. Grabbing your textbook and one of your notebooks made for this type of situation, you write down several questions before pointing to the textbook pages.
He reads each message, surprisingly more patient with your quirk than others. Some expected you to push past it or get over your shyness, but he went with it. It made you feel.. valid. Like your quirk wasn't a burden.
“Sounds like we'll be having a few all nighters on this one, Mr. Takeshi expects waaay too much of us if he wants this done in a week.” Sero looks at you curiously. “What do you think? We could do it at one of those 24/7 cafes nearby.”
Feeling yourself relaxing, you realize you've returned to being opaque as you nod in agreement. "Sounds like a plan."
His smile brightens. "Hey, your voice is pretty cute too chica!"
This time you're glad you disappear from sight, hands covering your mouth as he laughs heartily.
The project was an odd success
After your initial shock and shyness of being paired up with Sero, you both were a rather successful couple when it came to academics. You split the work equally and helped each other when either of you needed it. While he wasn't always the brightest, he always managed to put a smile on your face when you were studying long into the night, when your eyelids grew too heavy and your will to study lessened. When the day of the presentation came and you both took to the front of the class, it was his support that kept you from disappearing out of fright. However, now that it was over, you were surprised he still wanted to hang out with you, even if it wasn't required anymore.
“Oi, chiquita bonita! Over here!” Sero waves to you from across the classroom. He was sitting in his normal spot with his usual clique, and normally you didn't mix with them. They seemed nice, but it was always awkward when you joined him. You felt like they only tolerated you because of him.
Gathering your items, you shuffle out of your desk space and join him, blushing slightly as he scoots his seat to the side to make space for you right next to him. You could feel the burning stares of the girls surrounding him. You held on though, focusing on staying opaque, knowing he would try getting to the bottom of why you were nervous. Oh if only he knew how hated you were by his clique of girls.
“We did pretty good on the presentation didn't we?” He asks while draping an arm across the back of your chair, his body completely at ease. “Even the cabrón was impressed.”
You smack him lightly on the back of his head. You didn't know a lot of spanish, if at all, but you picked up some slang from the boy next to you. “Don't be mean Hanta, he's not all that bad.”
The girls’ hiss at your action, but Sero only laughs and tugs you closer under his arm. “Lo siento cariño. I'm sorry, but it's not my fault he has a stick up there.” He gestures upward with his middle finger.
You knew if you tried speaking, your voice would have fizzled out like a drop of water on a hot stove.
After the project you two were nearly inseparable, everyone knew you and Sero were an item (even if you both didn't see it)
“Dios mio! What did we do to earn this princesa?”
You turn around to the source of the voice, pausing on decorating the stage of the auditorium. It was Sero, you could tell immediately by his voice, but what you didn't understand was the context of his words. What was he talking about?
The confusion must have shown on your face as he moves closer and climbs onto the stage, walking up to you until he was by your side. “You're all dolled up. What's the occasion?” He holds you by the shoulders and peers behind you as well, earning a pinch on his cheek.
“It's the dance this week, remember? But the play is before, so we have to set up so it's all ready for the night. That means dress rehearsals too.” You were a part of the theatre group, an odd choice for someone who disappears when they get stage fright, but you were heavily invested in what you did. It was a passion you indulged.
“Aye, yeah I forgot about that.” Sero rubs his neck and looks at the ground, deep in thought. At least for two minutes. After the two minutes he peeks at you with a mischievous grin. ”Wanna go to the dance with me?”
To your credit, you manage to stay opaque while your heart beats wildly in its cage. “Thats a dumb way of asking me out.” You mutter while sliding down from the stage, nearly cutting yourself on one of the loose planks.
“¡Cuidado!” He holds his arms out, ready to help you down. “I don't want my date to get hurt you know?”
“I can still dance in a cast.” You brush off his concern with a rare smile. Crushes aside, you appreciated his friendship and concern.
“The fuck is this, Romeo and Juliet? Get a room!” A classmate yells from the lighting stage, laughing when you flip them the bird.
Sero joins in the laughter, leaving soon after apologizing to your classmate. Said classmate meets you in front of the stage, arms crossed and looking back and forth between you and the now closed auditorium door.
“So are you guys dating now?”
“No, we're just friends.” You rub your neck, feeling the translucency crawl up your neck. But it couldn't wipe away the smile on your face.
You gravitate towards each other
Stretching your arms in front of you, you twist your body to the right and sigh as you feel a pop. You didn't particularly like gym class but it was nice to get a good stretch.
Looking around at the field in front of you, you wave at the occasional friendly face. You had friends in this class, which made it even more bearable.
"Hola princesa!"
Sero?
Turning around you grin at the familiar face. You run to the fence blocking you in, gripping it as you watch your friend run to you. He holds your hand through the fence, a normal occurance and a habit you've grown fond of.
"What are you doing here?" You question while turning your hand in order to squeeze his, heart fluttering when you see the small tinge of pink on his cheeks.
"Just here to say hi. My next class is in E block." He peers over your shoulder. You were about the same height, somewhere around 5'4, so you relished being able to see him eye to eye (mostly) while it lasted. He grew a bit over the break of your first year. "Playing anything?"
"Volleyball." You shiver. "I'm team captain, but I suck at it." Who would you pick? Would you actually be a good leader? You feel your voice leave you as you begin to rival that of an onion skin, growing more and more invisible.
A small pinch on the back of your hand pulls you back to reality. Sero waggles a finger, tisking at you. "Don't sweat it, you'll do great." He squeezes your hand before backing up, walking backwards as he heads to class. "Just breathe princesa!"
"Got it." You whisper to yourself, waving to him as you watch him enter the building across from you.
Sadly by the end of your second year, he had grown taller, leaving you craning your neck to look at him.
When he entered U.A. you still cheered him on
Graduating middle school was tough when you split off into different schools. You knew you would keep in contact, but it was so much harder to spend time together when you didnt attend the same schools. Still, with each video chat and phone call, with each text, you showered him with all your love and support. He wanted to be a hero, and you were happy to support him with that dream!
You: Saw you on the tv, you were amazing!
Sero: thanks 😙 still lost tho 😅😅😁😁
You: Yeaaah🤔 but you still looked really cool! Still, didn't realize you were strong enough to pull that Todoroki guy that way 🧐
Sero: Im just full of surprises princesa 😘
Sero mentioned you often to his friends
You were mentioned in at least one conversation a day, it didn't matter the context, you just sort of popped up. What could he say, he loved you! You were his go to for support and someone he truly valued. Plus you weren't crazy like his classmates.
“You keep talking about her but we've never actually seen her.” Mina leans forward on her palm as she sips at her milk tea. “You're not lying about her are you?” She wiggles her eyebrows, eliciting a laugh from Sero.
“Course she's real.”
Kirishima lays his head on the table of the booth they were at, looking at Sero with confusion. “Got proof? It’s not manly to lie to your friends bro.” Sure he believed in his friend, but after a year of just hearing about a special girl, it was hard to keep believing without some form of proof.
Sero holds up a finger as he pulls out his phone. Placing it flat on the table, he pushes the power button and watches his friends faces light up as they view his lock screen. It was a picture of you.
“Woah! Who's the hot chick?” Kaminari asks excitedly as he returns from the bathroom. “Is she single?”
Sero powers off his phone before smacking a piece of tape on his friend’s mouth, surprisingly feeling a twinge of anger at his words. You were his best friend! He had to protect you!
On the inside he knew his anger was from deeper feelings, but for now it was just from the fact that he may need to defend your innocence from his own schoolmate. You were so shy, he knew Kaminari’s flirting would be too much for you.
“Yeah, no cabrón. She's taken.”
You were there for his graduation
Needless to say, you were at his graduation! It was difficult to find him amidst the crowds of families wanting to take pictures of their children and siblings, and even some heroes wanting to say their goodbyes! You were absolutely bombarded and neigh invisible after overthinking the whole thing, so when you finally found him you were stunned into invisibility when his friends jumped you.
“Ohmygodohmygodit'sactuallyyouuuuuu!” Mina screams as she pulls you into her, squeezing the life out of you before you can get a breath out.
The boys were much gentler, but just as excited. Especially Kaminari.
“Hey it’s the hot girl- more like the gone girl, what's happening?” He questions as you disappear from sight, your voice completely AWOL.
Sero smacks his face as he curses his friends out. “Chingues! Give my girl some space hijos de perras!”
Mina gives you enough space to breathe but holds you much like one would a hostage. For a hero course student, you believed that she would have done very well as a villain.
“Nope! We get to meet this girl of yours, Tape Boy!” She looks down at you, squinting to try making out where your face would be, unknowingly glaring directly at you. “He talks about you almost nonstop yet you haven't visited us at all, how unfair is that?” Mina grins.
You come into focus, your voice a mere squeak as you brush some hair out of your face. “A little? I should've visited..” You introduce yourself to his cadre, your name stumbling off your lips.
“Hot and shy? What a cutie!” Kaminari hugs you from your available side where Mina wasn't holding you in a headlock.
A whip of tape smacks the blonde and sends him reeling back to Sero who holds him in a similar hold Mina was holding you.
Your friend ruffles Kaminari's hair in a somewhat violent manner, grinning at him with threatening eyes. "Go easy on her cabrón. She's not used to so many people doting on her."
They were doting on you? You tilt your head and look at Mina who was still examining you. "I don't think I deserve to be doted on, that's not what's going on here right?"
"Of course not, but you and I are gonna have some girl time while the boys get us a spot at a restaurant! You're gonna tell us all about how you and Tape Boy here met!" She chirps excitedly, pulling Bakugou in with her free arm as he tries escaping past her.
You feel a drop of sweat as you accept your fate, watching Bakugou attempt to wrangle his way to freedom. "Sure, sounds nice."
Sero made it rather big as a hero, see, he wasn't the strongest hero but he was very popular
He had always been popular, so it made sense to you when his ranking kept going up and up until he was in the high twenties. You knew he was good at what he did, being a source of smiles even in dark times, but it always brightened your day when you heard your coworkers mention him in passing.
“Have you heard about the hero Cellophane yet?”
“Yeah! I think I saw him around yesterday. He was eating soba with Shoto.”
You look backwards to see the faces of your junior coworkers. They were in a different department than you, but you enjoyed chatting with them every now and then. Mostly when it came to heroes as you had somewhat of an insiders look.
Had you forgotten to mention you were friends with Sero- Cellophane?
You debated whether to tell them over tea one day until you heard their next words.
“He’s kind of hot isn't he?”
... Maybe you would keep the secret to yourself.
As a hero he makes time to drop into your life, sometimes randomly
What else was to be said? Really?
A blur flashes by your face, causing you to yelp in shock, stepping back and nearly falling onto the unforgiving pavement. Luckily, said blur created a swing of tape just in time to catch you, pulling you forward and bringing you into his arms.
“Lo siento mi corazón! I didn't mean to make you fall.”  Sero grins at you, his arm wrapped securely around your waist. He definitely meant to make you fall, you could see the mischief behind his eyes.
“As if Hanta.” You pinch him on the cheek, a smile coming to your face when he whines. “Look I’m happy to see you but I've got to get to work on time today, no funny business.”
“No funny business?” He repeats after you, rubbing his chin in thought. “Then I guess I’ll have to escort you to make sure you get to work on time.”
Your eyes widen as you feel his hold grow tighter and more secure as he holds you flush against him. Oh no. “Wait Sero-!”
And just like that, you were in the air, swinging from building to building with him propelling you both forward. You attempt to scream at him but your voice is lost along the way as you hear the clicking of cameras.
Oh god they were taking pictures.
“Niña don't worry! We’re almost there!”
Luckily for you, you were never caught on camera. So your quirk did have some uses.
The media was sure he had a partner
The photos really ended up getting him in hot water as every interview he did, the topic of romance was brought up. Fans would notice he would avoid the topic of love, but on his social media he would constantly mention a girl. No one knew who this girl was, but fans and news stations were determined to wring it out of him.
Once the red light of the on-air button was out, the reporter in front of Sero swiftly covers the mic pinned to her lapel and scoots to the edge of her seat. Sero watches in quiet amusement as the whole station becomes silent. Weird. But he knew why they grew quiet so fast. They wanted information, and if even the news anchor waiting for his time to come up stopped his boisterous laughter, it must've been important.
“Off the record. Do you have a secret sweetheart stashed away somewhere Cellophane?”
Oh. This again.
He stretches his arms in front of him as he runs through his normal excuses and dodges for this question. All still viable and working, but.. Maybe he could give a little hint. The media was on his ass about this after those photos were taken of him and his girl, so it was only right to clear the air right?
“Turn on the cameras. I’ll give this to you.”
You were crushed when he admitted he did have a sweetheart (of sorts) and even more so when the media suspected it to be the Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl
The media did end up getting a bit of info out of him  and when you heard about this special girl your heart couldn't help but crack under the thought of him distancing himself from you to be with her. You treasured your friendship with him, romantic or not, you didn't want it to end. Because of this fear, you are the one who starts to close yourself off.
“Chiquita, what's wrong?” Sero follows you as you make your way to the kitchen, a bowl of chocolate coated pretzels in your arms. “Are you sick? I can stop by the pharmacy for you.”
“N-No, its okay. I'm not sick..” You back up when you see his arm stretched outward, flinching when the back of his hand meets your forehead.
He hums. “No fever.”
You push past him, abandoning the bowl of chocolatey treats on the counter. You felt yourself becoming frustrated. Not with him, but with yourself. His opinion meant the world to you- he was your best friend! And you were letting this relationship of his get to you. How petty could you be? He did nothing wrong. In fact, you should be happy for him, finally dating his high school sweetheart.
But the thought of him dating Invisible Girl- the irony of him dating an invisible girl- was just too much for your heart to take at the moment.
You had no way to take out this frustration. So it was reflected onto him.
“Cariño-”
“Please!” You slam your hands on the counter, voice fading in and out as you hide your face in the collar of your turtleneck. “Please.. Just go.”
The apartment was quiet, filled with only your ragged breathing as you hold in your rampant emotions. When he leaves with a silent goodbye, you're unsure if the breaking sound surrounding you is just in your head or if something truly reached into you and tore your heart to pieces.
He makes it very clear who that sweetheart is
Finally, he announces just who captured his heart. It was live on a jumbo screen, playing as you were out getting “groceries” for the nights dinner.
The hollow feeling in your chest wasn't easing, and it definitely wasn't made any better when you saw the Stealth Hero on the television next to her team. Though your calves were certainly doing better with how much speed walking you would do when you passed by convenience stores with tabloids lining their windows, photos of Sero and Invisible Girl on the front.
Work went by dreadfully slow, and lunch went by just as uneventfully as usual. You ignored the chatter of your coworkers, uninterested in what they had to say.
After the report came out, no one was talking about the top heroes anymore. They all were focused on the potential lovers and what other secret admiring the heroes had in their ranks. If other heroes were hiding their own affairs. If the popular Cellophane could hide his romance, maybe someone like Deku or Shoto could be too.
“We’re going out for drinks later, want to come with?” Your junior asks as she slings her purse strap over her shoulder. “Jin is paying~”
You respond with a polite smile. “No thanks. I’m going straight home.”
- - -
Going straight home was the plan, but in the end you had to make a quick trip to the nearest grocery store for dinner. Something quick, as you didn't have the energy to make something complicated.
Which meant you ended up buying only instant ramen.
It was on your way back, crossing a busy sector when the sound of your friend on the jumbo screen caught your attention.
“She's my corazón. Mi vida.”
You look up at the screen, stopping in your tracks.
Sero was blushing, a shy smile on his face, but his eyes were lit up with joy. You heart pulses rapidly in your chest, a blush creeping up your cheeks. You had never seen him so flustered, it was always the other way around.
“I’ve loved her since middle school. I never wanted to drag her into this, so I never confirmed her name- but its not Invisible Girl!” He amends quickly, looking at the reporter with a knowing look. He wags his finger, his infamous cocky smile replacing the twitterpated look from earlier.
“Sure, she has a similar quirk, which is how those photos came to be.” He leans back in his chair.
“You want to know her name right? I guess it wouldn't hurt to say. I’ve kept it hidden for so long, but here it is.”
And then he said it.
He said your name.
Looking directly at the screen, he smiles gently, eyes full of the warmth you've been craving ever since you were paired for that project years ago.
“Ella es mi tesoro. She is my treasure.”
Extra:
Racing home, you're not surprised when you find the lights on in your apartment. In fact, it only spurs you forward.
Yanking open the unlocked door, you drop your groceries and launch yourself into Sero’s arms as he held them open for a hug.
He was sweaty from rushing from the news station to your apartment, but neither of you were concerned about it as you laugh. You laugh at the tape still clinging to his clothes, you laugh at the ramen spilling out of your grocery bags, you laugh at your tears.
You laugh at how long it took for you both to finally admit how much you loved each other.
“Mi corazón.” He pulls back from the hug and cups your cheek, looking at you with love softened eyes. “I love you.”
Tears brim your eyes.
You speak in the clearest voice you've ever spoken in. Skin bright and flushed pink.
“I love you too.”

Nothin’ On You- Kung Lao x Reader
I wrote this after listening to the song Nothin’ On You by B.o.B. This is very loosely based on the song (meaning I heard the song and this is what I came up with, even if it doesn’t line up). I hope you enjoy it :)
I sat on the sidelines of the fight pit as I watched Kung Lao prepare to fight Cole to help him find his arcana. Kung Lao ran his hand along his hat, something he typically does before he makes his initial strike. He quickly removed his hat and began maneuvering it as a weapon against Cole. Cole dodged the hat before kicking it and switching to offense. He kicked at Kung Lao, which he blocked each time with his hat. After the third kick to his hat, Kung Lao jumped in the air and kicked Cole in the chest. He quickly threw his hat, which caused Cole to fly in the air before hitting the ground. Kung Lao caught his hat midair and immediately placed it back on his head. He made eye contact with me and gave me a wink before coming to sit beside me on the steps.
Cole walked to the side grimacing while looking at his arm. “You okay, Cole?” I asked.
“Yeah, I’m good,” he replied. I nodded before looking at Kung Lao while Liu Kang and Kano were sparring.
I’ve been at Raiden’s temple for about a year and a half. I know what these new champions are going through to find their arcana because I had the same struggle not too long ago. I came in without any martial arts training, so Kung Lao and Liu Kang literally started from scratch with me. The past year, I had really developed a strong friendship with the two of them while we constantly trained. Liu Kang and I were basically inseparable, but my relationship with Kung Lao was different. Obviously we were friends, but I had stronger feelings for him. When I was working on finding my arcana, Kung Lao pushed me constantly and really helped me find my arcana.
“What?” Kung Lao asked when he finally saw me looking at him. My face warmed up and his classic smirk appeared on his face in response.
“Nothing. I just hope they find their arcanas quickly.”
He wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me to his side. “Amongst the three of us, they’ll be ready before the tournament.”
“I’d much rather fight that beauty over there,” Kano said confidently as he looked at me.
Kung Lao tightened his hold on me. “You don’t have to fight him, (Y/N),” he whispered so only I could hear.
“If it helps him find his arcana, then I might as well,” I replied as I stood.
I walked to where Liu Kang stood. “Good luck, (Y/N),” he said as he walked to the steps.
“I’ll make sure to go easy on you, babe,” Kano teased.
I got into my fighting stance as I prepared for Kano to come at me. He walked up to me and went to grab me. I easily dodged it by stepping to the side. With him out of place, I went to hit him in the back. He turned quickly, like he knew I would, and elbowed me in the stomach. I saw Kung Lao quickly stand. I put a hand up to stop him from doing anything.
Kano chuckled. “Sorry, I prefer to play rough, babe.”
I rolled my eyes before returning to my starting stance. Kano moved closer to me and went to punch me. I dodged his fist and responded with my own to his nose.
“Really, cheap shots?” I shrugged my shoulders and prepared to strike.
I ran at him and jumped on his back. He tried to knock me off his back using his elbows. He began backing towards the wall of the pit. I summoned my arcana as he neared the wall. A vine poked through the dirt and wrapped around Kano’s leg.
“Are you fucking serious?” He growled. I took advantage of his surprise and knocked him to the ground. I summoned more vines to hold down his other leg, his arms, and his neck. He struggled against them before giving up.
“Surrender?” I asked.
“More turned on than anything,” Kano said with a smirk. “Is this what you, hat boy, and Magic Mike do in your free time?” I scoffed in disgust and walked away from him.
I walked into the infirmary to check on Cole. Liu Kang was treating his wound with acupuncture needles.
“How’s your arm doing?” I asked as I looked over Liu Kang’s shoulder.
“It still hurts, but Liu Kang’s helping quite a bit.”
“I’m glad I wasn’t the only one Kung Lao refused to go easy on.” I rolled up my shorts a little bit to show him the scar on my thigh. “He cut me on my second day of sparring. Liu Kang helped treat the wound.”
“How long after that did it take for you to develop your arcana after that?”
“Nearly a year after.”
Cole let out a sigh. “If the tournament is in a month, then I won’t develop my arcana in time.”
“Cole, it will come. (Y/N), Kung Lao, and I will help you get your arcana in time,” Liu Kang encouraged.
I placed my hand on his good shoulder. “Not everyone’s arcana comes at the same time. It’s more complicated than that,” I explained.
Kung Lao entered the room. I saw his eyes look at my hand on Cole’s shoulder.
He coughed awkwardly. “Liu, Raiden wants to speak with us.”
“Give me just a moment. I am almost done tending to Cole’s wound,” Liu Kang responded.
Kung Lao nodded. His gaze fell on my hand again which caused me to quickly take it off Cole’s shoulder.
“Finished,” Liu Kang announced.
“Cole, (Y/N), we will see you tomorrow for training,” Kung Lao said as the two of them went to leave the room.
I turned to Cole. “Don’t let not having your arcana prevent you from discovering it, Cole. Kung Lao and Liu Kang know what they’re doing. I am proof of that. It will come. Trust the process.”
“Thanks, (Y/N). I’ll try.” He stood up and left the room.
I let out a sigh before following suit and leaving myself. I decided I would go relax in the hot springs before I went to bed.
The hot springs were empty when I arrived. I chose a spring and dropped my towel at the edge. I slipped into the water and instantly felt my muscles relax. I closed my eyes as my head fell back and a moan left my lips as I sunk in deeper.
“Ohhh, I didn’t realize I needed this so bad,” I said to myself.
“Is there room for one more?” A familiar voice asked.
“Of course, Kung Lao,” I replied without opening my eyes. I heard him sink into the water. I waited a minute before opening my eyes. I saw Kung Lao looking at me with a smile on his face. A blush crept on my face.  “What?”
“Nothing. I’m just enjoying the hot springs.”
Kung Lao was about two feet away from me. I decided to move closer to him. I laid my head on his shoulder once I was beside him. I looked out into the array of hot springs, and Kung Lao wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
“What did Raiden want to speak to you and Liu Kang about?”
“He’s afraid the new champions will not be ready in time.”
“I think they will. Raiden knows just as well as you and I that this is a process.”
“You’re right. It took you a year to get yours,” he teased.
I chuckled. “It only took ten months.”
“Yeah, only.”
I playfully hit him. “Well at least mine is cooler than a lame hat.”
“If I remember correctly, that lame hat is what helped you get your lame vines.”
“The vines aren’t lame.” Kung Lao smiled and chuckled. “Kano seemed to be impressed by them.”
The smile on his face quickly left and his jaw tightened. “I didn’t think you’d be the type who wanted to impress him.”
Without completely thinking it through, I decided to keep teasing him. “You know? I’m actually a sucker for an Australian accent.”
“And what about his awful personality?”
“Besides the accent, he’s not really my type.”
His face changed. A smirk crossed his face instead. “And what exactly is your type?”
I sat back and thought for a second. “There is this guy who helped train me that I’ve really got my eye on. It’s hard to even think about anybody else because he is just that great.”
I looked up at him. He looked back at me for a minute or two before glancing at my lips. I decided to close the space between us. Our lips connected and there felt like a small burst of electricity. Our lips moved in perfect, synchronized movements. I pulled away to catch my breath.
“Kung Lao, I really like you.”
“I really like you, too, (Y/N).”
“I want to see where this goes because I feel a real connection with you. It’s different from the ones I have with Liu Kang, Cole, and any other guy I’ve met. ” I could feel myself beginning to ramble. Kung Lao silenced my rambling by kissing me again.
“Let’s just see where this goes and we’ll move from there. Okay?”
I nodded. “Okay.”

“You ain’t my boyfriend,
And I ain’t your girlfriend,
But you don’t want me to see nobody else,
And I don’t want you to see nobody.
But you ain’t my boyfriend,
And I ain’t your girlfriend,
But you don’t want me to touch nobody else,
Baby we ain’t gotta tell nobody.”
“Monse what looks hotter? This—“ She holds up a red bodysuit to her chest, letting Monse get a good look at it. “Or this one?” As she takes away the red one and switches it to a lacy black piece.
“Black, definitely black.” A deep voice startles her as she turns her head to the side, catching his gaze.
“Mhm, I agree.” Monse absentmindedly answers, too occupied on her phone to care.
“What’re you doing here?” She tosses the hangers aside, looking up at his taller frame.
“Thought I’d stop by and help out your brother. Considerin’ it’s kinda my job.” He shrugs, looking at her lips quickly then darting his gaze to her eyes.
“I’m gonna go now.” Monse slips out awkwardly between the two of them, meeting up with Cesar in the living room.
She sighs, going back to picking out an outfit and finishing up her makeup. He can’t help but notice how softly she coats her lashes with mascara, turning to look at him with big doe eyes, imagining her in another more compromising situation.
“We still haven’t talked about that day—“ He clears his throat, catching her gaze in the mirror.
“What’s there to talk about?” Her voice coming out more defensive than she wanted it to.
“You’re okay wit— I mean you’re not a little weirded out by it?” He struggles to get the words out, eyes flitting anywhere but to hers.
“I mean you walked in on me so—“ She hums, beginning to undo the string on her sweatpants.
“On accident, mami.” He shrugs.
“Yeah and then you stayed a little too long.” She glares over her shoulder at him. “I need to get changed unless you wanna stay for that too?” She tilts her head mockingly, beginning to pull down the sweats just enough that a small bit of skin showed.
He chuckles humorlessly, reaching her in one long stride, “You’re funny, you know that.”
“I don’t think my brother would like the lack of distance between us.” She manages to whisper, hand coming up to splay on his chest.
“Nothin’s going on though, nena, just a friendly talk between two friends.” He smirks that annoying smirk that she so badly wanted to wipe off his face. “I’ll see you outside.”
He finally backs away but not without throwing a wink in her direction.
She huffs audibly and closes the door to her room to get dressed, choosing to go with the blue jean shorts that stopped right below her ass cheeks and the black lace bodysuit that José had so eagerly decided on for her.
She checks herself in the mirror once more before exiting her room. The lawn had already begun to fill with Santos members as well as a few unfamiliar faces. She shrugs, making her way into the kitchen to make a drink.
“The fuck are you wearing?” Oscar emerges from his room behind her, eyes going wide at the short-shorts she had on.
“Shorts? And a shirt?” She looks down at her outfit as if to say there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
“Nah— go fuckin’ change or stay in your room.” Oscar demands, walking outside to greet people.
She rolls her eyes at his behavior, hoping he’d ease up and forget that he told her to change. She grabs the alcoholic drink she made and takes a sip, humming in delight at the taste of it.
She finds herself on the steps of her porch, waving to various gang members, eyes searching for one man in particular.
“Hey, cariña. How you been?” Oso is the first to greet her, pulling her into a hug careful not to spill her drink.
She smiles, “Oso, hey!” Making conversation with him.
“I thought I told you to change.” Oscar’s voice sounds from somewhere behind Oso.
“Oscar relax, let me finish this—“ She holds her red solo cup up to him, “And then I’ll think about it.” She smirks at the annoyed expression on his face as he gives up.
Oso merely chuckles at her stubbornness, something both the siblings seemed to possess, “Alright go, have fun.” Oso lets her wander off into the group of people dispersed on the lawn, eyes watching her until she disappears around the corner.
Before she could stop herself her body collides with another, scowling at who could be in such a hurry that they had to nearly knock the drink out of her hand. Two strong arms wrap around her torso before she could stumble back any further.
“Yo watch where you’re going pendejo—“ Her eyes meet an unfamiliar face. He didn’t have a Santos tattoo on his neck like everyone else, he had to be a newcomer.
“My fault— I wasn’t payin’ attention.” He apologizes, hands still on her waist to steady her.
“You from around here?” She looks the man up and down, taking in his appearance.
He shrugs, “Nah, just visiting a friend. What about you?”
”Yeah, I don’t live too far away from here actually.” She lies, deciding not to tell him that this was in fact her property. And that if he didn’t get his hands off her in the next few seconds, he’d know just how much he wasn’t welcome here.
He finally lets his hands fall from around her waist, “I’d ask you if you wanna grab a drink but you already have one.”
She looks down at her cup swishing around the contents in it and downing what was left, “And now I don’t. C’mon, let’s go get more.”
They walk to the back, her shoulder brushing his arm occasionally. She was definitely feeling the alcohol or else she wouldn’t have had the courage to even be seen standing next to this outsider nonetheless conversing with him.
She reaches the cooler first, bending down slightly to grab them two beers, not missing the way the guest steps closer, almost pressing himself to her. Before she could say something, a taller figure blocks her view.
“This fool botherin’ you?” Sad Eyes gives the man no time to defend himself, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.
“José—“ She gasps, beer completely forgotten as she tries to pry his hands off the stranger.
“What the fuck?! Let go of me, man!” He squeaks, shaking in fear of what was gonna come next.
“Don’t touch her, don’t speak to her, don’t look at her, matter fact don’t even think about her, you understand me?” José grits through clenched teeth.
The party long forgotten as a crowd of Santos gather around the scene, Spooky front and center as always.
“Oscar fucking stop them!” She panics, attempting to push her brother towards his right hand man.
“I-I’m sorry! I didn’t know she had a boyfriend! She ain’t mention anythin’ about you I swear!”
“Boyfriend?!” They both shout at the same time making Sad Eyes let go of the man gasping for air.
“Oh he is not my boyfriend. Believe me.” She murmurs under her breath making José glare at her, until her older brother speaks up.
“Sad Eyes, get ‘er inside. Oso, Joker— get this pinche pendejo outta here.” He snaps as the men around him rush to take care of the situation.
“Let’s go.” Sad Eyes grips her upper arm firmly, taking her away from the boisterous scene.
“I can walk myself—“
“Don’t care.” Sentence cut short as he leads her into the house and to her room. He slams the door behind her, stepping forward to sit on the edge of her neatly made bed.
“You really had to make a scene? In front of everyone out there?” She crosses her arms over her chest, staring daggers at him.
He says nothing, merely watches as she unclasps her earrings, setting them aside on her bedside table with a harsh sigh.
“Get the fuck out, José, I’m tired and I’m pissed, and I really wanna punch you right now.” She states matter of factly.
“I know we ain’t together— I just don’t like when others get too close to you.” He finally speaks, taking her hand in his.
“You’re not my boyfriend and I’m not your girlfriend so what does it matter?” She mumbles, moving to stand in between his outspread legs.
”Doesn’t mean I like random ass guys hittin’ on you like you’re one of those putas that hangs around ‘ere on the regular.” He scoffs.
“The same putas that you’ve had on your lap multiple times?” She raises her eyebrows at his statement.
José can’t help but go silent, mind racing as he holds her hand, “They don’t know me like you know me, they’re nothin’ to me.”
“Exactly and that guy was nothing to me either.” She makes her point while unbuttoning her shorts, making him stand abruptly. “Lemme show you.”
Sad Eyes’ ears perk up, his jaw twitching slightly as the girl in front of him slowly, but surely, got to her knees.
“I don’t think you should—“ José grips her upper arm lightly making her look at him. She pushes him down to sit on her bed.
She sighs softly, her palm skimming his thigh and then the bulge forming in his pants, “That day when you walked in on me— I didn’t want you to leave. I wanted you to touch me, José.” She bites her lip, eyes finally settling on his face as he tried hard to keep his eyes on her.
He can’t help but groan at her words, “Yeah? Then lemme touch you, for real this time.” He takes her hand in his, placing a soft kiss to the back of it and helping her off her knees.
She straddles his waist, fitting perfectly in his lap, “Touch me.” She gasps, bringing his large hand up to cup at her lace covered breast and squeezing.
“I’ve never seen nobody prettier than you, nena, not one girl in my life.” Sad Eyes hums against her lips, moving his lips to place a kiss to her jaw.
“Ooo fuck—“ She grinds down onto him, hips gyrating at their own accord as he peppered kisses down her neck.
“Take these off— lay right here.” José places her on the bed, giving her space to pull her shorts down. She unclasps the bodysuit, taking it off eagerly as she rushed to follow his commands, her tits bouncing with each movement she made.
“You’re sexy.” He whispers next to her, caressing her bare thighs, eyes never leaving her face as to reassure her. “Touch yourself for me.”
She lays comfortably on her back, closing her eyes, palm rubbing at her hardened nipple. Her fingers trail down her torso to where she needed them most. The flimsy strap of her thong pulled off in no time as José watched intently, not missing a single move she made.
She spreads her thighs wider with his help as he guides her fingers to rub at her parted wet lips. Her breath catches in her throat at the feeling, a strangled gasp leaving her lips.
She clutches at his forearm with her free hand, her fingers rubbing faster and harder than before.
“Yesss— oh! Fuck, I’m so close, baby.” She moans, the sound going straight to his cock. He watched on as she rode her own fingers, taking turns rubbing at her clit and spreading the wetness to her entrance.
In a split second, her high is ripped away from her, “I wanna feel you cum around me, mami.” Sad Eyes finally leans down pressing his lips to her parted ones, tongue caressing tongue.
“I was just about to cum—“ She can’t help but whine against his mouth.
“Yeah, I know.” His reply cut short as he brings her to perch on his thighs once more, her naked body pressed against his fully clothed one. He brings calloused fingers between their bodies, making her jump slightly at the feeling, collecting her wetness on his fingers.
“José— don’t stop.” She mewls when the pads of his fingers come into contact with her swollen clit.
“Wanna make you mine tonight.” He grips the base of her throat with his free hand, squeezing slightly and growling at the way her eyes shut closed at the sensation.
She manages to open her eyes through the pleasure, unbuttoning his jeans and tugging down the zipper and taking him out of his confines, making him hiss slightly.
“Fuck me, José.” She pumps him slowly, precum easily lubricating his shaft.
He positions her center just above his erect cock, her hands naturally splaying on his clothed chest gripping his tank top.
“Are we really boutta do this?” Sad Eyes ceases his movements, watching the way she smirked and leaned into him.
“Yeah— I want to.” She nods her head, kissing him whilst sinking down onto his dick. He lets out a groan as she struggled to accommodate his length.
“You ever been fucked before?” His voice coming out less controlled than he wanted it to.
“Nah, just by my own fingers.” She winces slightly when he thrusts his hips out of instinct as her walls contracted around him, unfamiliar to the feeling.
“Fuck, bebe— we can stop if it hurts.” He caressed her hip softly, making sure she wasn’t hurting.
“Don’t, I feel good. Just wish you’d take your clothes off.” She begins riding him slowly, walls gripping him tightly.
Sad Eyes chuckles, hands coming up to remove the unbuttoned button-down he wore on top of his white tank top. The movement giving both of them friction as he discarded his clothing to the side leaving his chest bare to her.
“Better?” He whispers, making her smile and pick up her pace to which he moans lowly. “Eres perfecta, bebe.” His hand tucked under her throat, thumb outlining her plump lips, dipping in just enough to wet it.
“Yeah— you feel s-so fucking good.” She nods aimlessly, eyes never leaving his own as he toys with her clit making her pussy clench around him.
“Do that again and I won’t last long— fuck.” He huffs, bringing both his hands to her waist and holding her down onto him.
“Oooh yes, yes, yes right there, please, baby.” She whimpers, the tip of his cock repeatedly nudging that spongy spot inside of her that made her see stars.
He stops thrusting, pulling out of her wet cunt despite her protests as it clenched around nothing, pinning her beneath him.
“Fuck your pussy’s tight—“ His voice strained as he eased back into her, her tits bouncing with the force of his strokes.
Their breathing getting heavier as the coil in her stomach threatened to snap. He held her thighs apart, needing something to hold onto as he thrust into her dripping wet pussy.
Her back arched off the bed, tits pressing to his chest as she leaned up to kiss him, “I’m so fucking close baby, make me cummm—“ Her mouth agape letting out short pants as he smirked against her cheek, feeling her body convulse underneath him.
“Gonna make me fuckin’ cum, mami, your pussy’s tight as fuuuck.” Sad Eyes moans loudly, biting softly on the juncture between her neck and shoulder to muffle his sounds.
“Cum for me, José.” She whispers in his ear, nails scratching his back lightly. His hips spasm, seed spilling into her and down her soft thighs mixing with her own. Sad Eyes collapses onto her chest, leaving faint kisses on her skin before he speaks up.
“Finally gonna stop using that vibrator now?” José questions, looking up at her for a reaction.
“We’ll see about that—“ She arches an eyebrow making him chuckle.
“You don’t need it no more. I’ll satisfy you forever, nena. Whenever you need me.” He promises, eyes closing as she scratched his scalp with her fingernails.
“So... what are we exactly?” She can’t help but ask the one question looming in the air.
José opens his eyes, leaning up on his palms to get a better look at her angelic face, “You’re my girl. You’re always gonna be my girl.“
“No more fucking around?” Her eyes sparkling as she tugged him down by the cross around his neck.
“No more fuckin’ around.” He replies, giving into her every which way.

Request from @yes-sir-hotchner :  Can I request a Daryl fic based loosely on the song “Leave a Light On” by Tom Walker? Thank you so much!!
Word Count: 3451
Warning: mention of violence
Song I Wrote To: “Leave a Light On” by Tom Walker
Note: When I first listened to this song, I fell in love. And then when I got this request, I listened again and immediately thought of Daryl after he escaped Negan’s clutches. I like to think that a conversation happened like this with Rick at some point and I loved the one he had with Maggie in the cellar so this is what came out of the song! Thank you for requesting this!
-------
The second someone mentioned you were all alone
I could feel the trouble coursing through your veins
Now I know, it's got a hold
The walls of the Hilltop stood tall, protecting its citizens from the Undead monsters of the new world.
However, now there were more than just Walkers to worry about. The Savior threat hung above them like a guillotine and the people of the Hilltop, Alexandria, and Kingdom were just waiting for the blade to fall.
Negan had been ruthless while his foot rested on your neck and the others, but now it seemed Rick was ready to fight back and finally there was hope again within the communities. You were one of Rick’s right hands, helping keep the group safe since you joined them at the prison.
When Negan had captured your people you had been with Jesus, looking for medication and ammunition. When you had returned to Alexandria and Carl told you what had happened to Glenn and Abraham, you felt...broken. Then Rosita revealed that Negan had taken Daryl and you couldn’t stay inside those walls any longer.
Daryl Dixon was your person. It was an unspoken friendship in some ways. You taught him how to rewire radios and practiced hand to hand combat while he taught you to track and survive in the woods. Everyone in both of your lives knew that you would die for Daryl and he, for you.
Without him by your side, you did everything you could to find a way to get an edge up on the new enemy. Negan didn’t know you, neither did Dwight. To the Saviors, you were a ghost and you wanted to keep it that way. You left Alexandria and moved into the woods, keeping your eye on both Hilltop and Alexandria, watching the roads and keeping a radio close in case chatter appeared over the waves.
Just a phone call left unanswered, had me sparking up
These cigarettes won't stop me wondering where you are
Don't let go, keep a hold
The day you were heading back towards Hilltop to check in on Maggie, Enid’s voice came over your radio. She didn’t say much except that you needed to get to Hilltop because Rick wanted to fight and that plans were being made. However, when you arrived, Maggie had explained that Jesus had taken the group to another community called Kingdom and that Daryl was with them.
Hearing the knowledge that Daryl had escaped the Sanctuary made you feel like you could finally breathe again. You knew he was stronger than most people, but you also knew about his past and if there was one thing you learned about Negan from the others, Daryl wasn’t being treated as a human being within the walls of the factory and that feeling was all too familiar to him.
You also knew that after Glenn, there was only one place Daryl would want to be right now and so you waited for his return. You were on your second pass along the East wall when you heard footsteps coming through the woods adjacent to the community and you decided to meet him halfway.
You made your presence known as you trekked through the dark woods and it didn’t take long for him to track your movement. As you turned a corner, sliding your hand along a tree trunk, you felt a blade press into your back. “I would think after all the years we’ve known each other, you would know the sound of my boots by now, Daryl,” you whispered, staying completely still.
“(Y/N)?” Daryl said, removing the knife and turning you around by your shoulders. It was hard to see him in the dark, but you would always know him. Daryl wrapped his arms around you, bringing you close and resting his head on your shoulder.
You held him back, feeling his arms tighten their hold on you. “Are you okay?” You whispered into his chest. You felt him nod against you. “Enid told me Rick was coming back to fight and then when Maggie said you got out, I couldn’t believe it.”
“I’m alright,” Daryl said, pulling back and brushing your hair aside.
“Are you?” You asked again, looking at him closer, trying to see through the hair that created a curtain around his face. Even in the low light of the moon, you could see those eyes of his. The normally bright blue irises were darkened by something much deeper and you recognized it immediately. You had had the same look in your own eyes when the Governor had held you captive in Woodbury and it had been Daryl who saved you.
“Don’t,” Daryl warned as he saw the change in your expression, but you weren’t backing down. You reached up, trying to see more of him, but he grabbed your wrists before you could make contact.
“Daryl,” you sighed.
“Leave it alone, (Y/N), I said m’fine,” he said.
“I don’t believe you,” you told him, grabbing his face and making him look at you. “You think I can’t see it? After all this time? I know you, Dixon, and I know when you are hurting. I don’t need to dig deep, I can see it plain on your face.”
Daryl pushed away from you, running his hands through his hair. You didn’t advance on him again, you just waited as Daryl paced. It was something he always did when he was thinking or he was frustrated. It was also something you had gotten used to over the years. However, it was what came after that was always the hard part and that was his anger.
“Daryl, it’s okay,” you said quietly, but he shook his head.
“No,” he said, “ain’t none of this okay! Glenn, Abraham, and now Olivia and Spencer! How is any of that okay, (Y/N)?”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it,” you challenged.
“Well that’s what it sounded like,” he snapped. “What do ya know about it anyway?” This time, you did approach him, your own emotions boiling up to the surface.
“What are we talking about? The deaths? Or the fact that you aren’t the only one to be held captive?” Daryl stared at you, his jaw rigid. “Did you forget what happened to me at Woodbury? You were the one who saved me, Daryl,” you said, your voice breaking slightly. “Whether you want to believe it or not, I know you aren’t keeping it together inside.”
“I ain’t talkin’ about this,” he said, marching past you, but you grabbed his arm, pulling him to a stop.
“No! Do not shut me out!” You ordered. “Please talk to me.”
“Why? So ya can fix me?” He snapped. In the dark, he seemed even bigger than usual. It was as if there was a whole new layer of Daryl. A harder exterior had formed from his time in the Sanctuary and you could tell it weighed on him heavily.
“You’re not broken,” you told him sternly, making sure to keep eye contact. “Do you hear me, Daryl? You. Are. Not. Broken.” He looked at you and slowly that hostile tension began to dissipate. He began to look like your Daryl again.
If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse to a place where you'll be
Safe to feel our grace 'cause we've all made mistakes
If you've lost your way
“I can’t,” he whispered.
“You can’t what?”
“I can’t talk about it, (Y/N),” he said, his eyes on his boots. You took his hands in yours. Gripping his hands tight, you made sure he felt how sturdy you were. You needed him to know you were there for him, that you could be his rock.
“Okay, you don’t have to,” you assured him. “But I need you to stop punishing yourself. Daryl, it wasn’t your fault. Stop trying to go further into the darkness when you know his death is not on your hands.”
“It is,” he whispered, just barely audible. “It’s my fault.”
“No,” you said, gripping tighter, “Negan killed Glenn. It was all Negan. Glenn’s death is on his hands.”
“I hit him,” Daryl said, “ya weren’t there, (Y/N), he warned us not to move and I...I lost it and then he killed him. Right in front of Maggie…” Daryl rested his forehead against yours and you could feel a slight tremble going through him. “He shoulda killed me.”
“Daryl…” you gasped. “Don’t say that. Don’t you ever say that you hear me? You are still here. I am still here. Maggie and the baby are safe and we’re gonna get through this.”
“It was like watchin’ it all over again,” Daryl said after a moment of silence.
“Watching what?”
“My old man,” Daryl clarified, “Seein’ the way Negan beat Abraham...and I couldn’t do nothin’. It was just like when Merle would take the beatins’.” You didn’t say anything as Daryl spoke of his father. Will Dixon wasn’t Daryl’s favourite subject and from the brief meeting you had with Merle before his death, the elder Dixon brother hated their old man just as much.
You knew about the abuse on both of them. You had seen the scars on Daryl’s back multiple times. You, alongside Rick and Carol, were the only ones that he didn’t hide them from. Most of the group knew Daryl had a rough upbringing, but only the three of you knew the extent of the damage. You also had a feeling that perhaps Beth knew some of it as well.
….I will leave the light on
Daryl Dixon had been a survivor long before the world Turned and you knew that it had only made him stronger. You just wished he could see it that way too. “I can’t imagine what you’ve been through, Daryl, but I want to try to help if I can,” you told him, running your hands up his arms carefully.
“It’s not yer job,” he said. You shook your head and then took his hand and pulled him over to a fallen tree. You sat down and pulled him down next to you. Daryl sat there, his leg pressed to yours.
“Who says it’s not?” You asked. “Why can’t it be my job?” Daryl looked at you, shaking the hair out of his eyes. The two of you had been in a similar situation before. Just after Grady, you had found him trying not to break down. You had sat next to him and just listened to his breathing, waiting for him to speak. He never did open up to you about losing Beth, but he had calmed down with you next to him, holding his arm. You were now hoping this time Daryl would be more forthcoming if he was up to it.
“I know I wasn’t there to help you,” you continued, “but I’m here now.” Daryl took a deep breath, dropping his forearms to his knees and looking out at the black wall of trees that surrounded you both. He ran a dirty hand over his face as you waited. Eventually, Daryl relaxed more and his hands stopped trembling.
“It was horrible,” he whispered finally. You were silent as he spoke, not wanting to have him shut down again. “They kept me in the dark for days, feedin’ me barely anythin’ and blastin’ this infernal song…” he shuddered at the memory and you took his hand. He didn’t pull away at your touch, instead, he rubbed small circles on the back of your hand with his thumb as if you were the one who needed comfort. “Eventually, they made me work around the factory.”
Using his other hand, Daryl dug out a pack of cigarettes. You figured Jesus had found them for him or he had taken them when he had escaped along with the clothing he had apparently stolen. His finger shuffled with the pack, but your other hand covered it, gently taking the pack from him. Daryl let you take away the cigarettes and didn’t say anything as you slid them into your own pocket.
Smoking was one of the other things he did when he was trying to fight himself from opening up. You didn’t want him to stop now and a part of you thought that perhaps Daryl felt the same way. He didn’t go for the pack again, but instead, lay the unoccupied hand over the one that held yours.
Tell me what's been happening, what's been on your mind
Lately you've been searching for a darker place
To hide, that's alright
“What else?” You asked softly.
“He makes everyone kneel,” Daryl revealed, “no matter what, people were always on their damn knees as if he was some kind of god. And the women, (Y/N),” his eyes met yours, “he has all these women married to him like they’re damn prizes.” You knew about the wives. Carl had told everyone when Negan had brought him back and Maggie had informed you when Enid called you back to Hilltop.
“Does he hurt them?” You asked.
“Nah,” Daryl assured you, “but they ain’t free to be with their real husbands. Sherry, Dwight’s girl, she was the one who got me out.” That was something you didn’t know. You had just figured Daryl had seen his moment of opportunity.
“Where is she now? Still with Negan?”
“She’s gone,” Daryl said, “Ran away, not sure if she’s alive or not.”
“A woman like that, I gotta believe she can handle herself,” you told him reassuringly. Then, you brought up what Aaron had told you about shortly after the first visit the Saviors made to Alexandria. “You went home for the first pick-up.” Daryl nodded.
“Son of a bitch used me to torture Rick. Treated me like his damn dog,” Daryl said harshly, but his touch on your hands remained soft and gentle.
“There’s somethin’ else, isn’t there?” you asked, leaning against him. Daryl continued to play with your fingers, slowly releasing that pent up anger and frustration.
“I tried, girl,” Daryl whispered, “I tried to help him, Dwight, and Sherry and her sister. They ran from Negan weeks ago and I...I tried to bring em’ home.”
“I know,” you said, remembering that particular story.
“Maybe Rick was right,” Daryl said, “people ain’t worth savin’ no more.”
“Is that what you really believe?” Daryl was quiet again, but you had your answer. No matter what happened to him or anyone else, Daryl was never going to stop believing in people. He had too big a heart not to. “Daryl Dixon,” you said softly, “I need you to listen to me very closely.”
But if you carry on abusing, you'll be robbed from us
I refuse to lose another friend to drugs
Just come home, don't let go
Daryl looked at you again, this time giving his full attention. That was something else you loved about your best friend. He listened when you spoke and he would do everything to make sure you knew you were being heard. “You sometimes forget how important you are, Daryl,” you continued. “I can’t lose you and I can’t have you lose your way. Negan thinks he can break us, break you, but we are stronger than this. You are stronger than this. I know damn well that Negan is not the worst monster out there. We’ve seen evil take many forms and we’ve always beat it. Don’t you dare think that we won’t win this war.”
“(Y/N)...” Daryl said, tilting his head, but you weren’t done yet.
“You have to stop beating yourself up about this, Daryl,” you went on, “I refuse to lose any more friends because of Negan. I already lost Glenn and Abraham, do not make me lose you too. I am here with you and I am not going anywhere. None of us are. You have family and a home and we’ve never given up on you so don’t think we’re going to start now.”
If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse to a place where you'll be
Safe to feel our grace 'cause we've all made mistakes
If you've lost your way
….I will leave the light on
“I don’t know what to do,” Daryl admitted. A single tear rolled him his eyes and he ignored it, letting it drop to the dying earth below your feet.
“That’s okay,” you said, “If you’re lost, I’m here. I will always be here, no matter what. You’re safe with me, Daryl Dixon.” Daryl dropped his hard exterior then as he folded into your arms. You immediately wrapped yourself around him, gripping him tight as he cried in your arms. You knew that he had been holding all of this inside him for too long. Not only did the anger live in his heart, but the grief and the sadness as well.
In the dark of the woods, you held each other and felt every death and every loss. The trees, the night air, all of it was familiar to you both and it felt right to hold him. Daryl was the person that would always be trying to help other people and never himself. It was if the world around him always had to keep turning, but he didn’t care if he spun along with it. It was something you had always admired about him. His undying devotion and loyalty to the group that became his family.
If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse, it's a place where you'll be
Safe to feel our grace and if you've lost your way
If you've lost your way (I will leave the light on)
Through the trees, you could see the warm light that came from Barrington House. It was such a simple thing, the house that stood proud at the center of Hilltop, but to you and yours, it was something that changed the world. Jesus had brought you to the Hilltop with a promise of trade and community and it was exactly where Daryl needed to be right now.
You knew Jesus, Maggie, Sasha, and Enid would be there for Daryl even if he said he didn’t need it. You were all in this together now and it was an unspoken rule that if one person was down on their luck, everyone rose up to protect them. You also knew that Daryl was feeling lost. The waves of emotion he unleashed were evidence enough and you swore then that if you ever stood before Negan, the bat-wielding bastard would soon know hell on earth before you were done with him.
And I know you're down and out now, but I need you to be brave
Hiding from the truth ain't gonna make this all okay
“Don’t hide from the truth,” you whispered to him, feeling his weight against you, “You don’t always need to be the strong one, Daryl.” Daryl leaned back then and you reached up, wiping the tears from his face. “Let someone else be strong for you.” He looked at you with admiration that only came from years of friendship and having each other’s backs. Daryl leaned forward and kissed your forehead.
“Yer one of the good ones,” Daryl said to you, giving you a small smile.
“Where do you think I learned it from?” Daryl sighed, finally returning his breathing to a steady rhythm. “You’re gonna be okay, Daryl. Hilltop is going to keep you safe and when the time is right, we’re gonna fight.”
“You gotta head back home, right?” he asked, already knowing your answer.
“Rick is gonna need my help if we plan on taking on the Saviors,” you said with a small smile of your own. “Alexandria isn’t the same without you.”
“I can’t come home yet,” Daryl said, but you already knew that. “Not to Alexandria.” You took his hand and pulled him to his feet. Reaching up, you wrapped your arms around his neck in a warm hug. Daryl held you back. Your best friend was finally back in your arms and everything began to feel right again. No matter what happened next, you would fight to be by his side for the rest of your lives.
I see your pain, if you don't feel our grace
And you've lost your way
….I will leave the light on
You pulled back, holding his face in yours. “Your place is here right now, but when you can come home,” you whispered, “I’ll leave my light on.”

Horseshoe overlook had begun to turn stale. Two weeks of nothing but Pearson’s stew and Uncle bumming around had nearly driven all of the girls at camp crazy. All you had to occupy yourselves with was chores, and Susan wouldn’t let you forget it. Karen and her were getting into more disputes than usual, and it was up to the rest of you to keep them from killing each other.
You’d need to get out soon, or you’d all loose your minds. So when you overheard Uncle trying to get Arthur to take him to town, you all jumped at the opportunity.
The plan was simple: Karen would go in first and you’d all just pry until Arthur said yes. Originally, Karen wanted you to go first. Her favorite past time seemed to be teasing you about Arthur. She wanted you to go first, insisting, “Arthur’ll do anything you ask,” but you protested. You argued that she’d be the better lead, and didn’t give her any time to argue back.
She didn’t miss the opportunity to point out the blush across your cheeks, of course. When Arthur finally agreed to take Uncle, you all knew it was now or never.
“If you’re going to take the old man to town, could you take us too?” Karen asked as you, Tilly, and Mary Beth walked up anxiously.
Arthur glanced to the four of you, pulling out a cigarette.
“Why, what you got planned?”
“Nothing.. We’ll find something for y’all to do. We always do.”
Arthur seemed unconvinced, so Mary Beth spoke up.
“We’re bores out of our minds! Been cooped up here for two weeks now.”
You nodded, approaching Arthur with the girls, “Karen’s about ready to murder Grimshaw,” Tilly let out a wholesome laugh at your comment, “don’t know how much longer we can hold her back.”
Arthur seemed amused, “Can Grimshaw spare you?”
With an exaggerated look of offense, Karen squared up to Arthur. “‘Can Grimshaw spare you?’ What’s happened to you, Arthur? Four young healthy women want you to take ‘em robbing, and you’re worried about house chores?”
Arthur‘s eyes flicked from Karen to you, searching for your input.
“She can’t yell at us if we aren’t here.” You added, sharing a subtle smirk with the cowboy.
With a low chuckle, he agreed to take the four of you along. With a cheer of excitement, the four of you raced towards the wagon. Arthur followed, hanging back. He waited for the rest of the girls to climb up. As you stepped up to the wagon, he held his hand out for you, assisting you up.
When Arthur left to climb up into the drivers seat, the girls erupted into giggles. You sat by Mary Beth, cheeks burning red with another blush. Karen didn’t hesitate to point this out, again, and you rolled your eyes with a laugh.
A few minutes into the ride, Uncle looked back to the four of you. “Ladies, sing us a song.”
Usually, none of you would do anything Uncle asked, but you were feeling good today. Karen led the rest of you in, singing “I got a girl in Berryville.”
You all shouted the words, excitement pooling in your bellies as you neared Valentine, but the song was cut short by a coach gone Haywire along the road. One of the horses got loose, and it galloped across the road into the trees. Arthur stopped the wagon in time before it came into contact with the horse.
“Is one of you gonna get that fellers horse?” Tilly called. Uncle pulled some lame excuse, claiming he had lumbago, and remained in his seat.
“Oh, won’t you help him, Arthur?” Mary Beth asked with a frown. Arthur looked back at the four of you, eyes landing on you. You glanced from the stranger to his horse, then back to Arthur with a pleading glint in your eyes.
Arthur climbed down from the wagon, announcing that he’d see what was going on. As he walked over to speak to the stranger, Karen gave your leg a gentle kick.
“He’s trying to impress you!” She spoke quietly, followed by a chorus of agreements from Tilly and Mary Beth.
You shook your head, trying to hide the pink that crept up your cheeks.
“Come on, y/n, we all know what’s going on between you two.” Tilly smiled.
You watched Arthur go after the runaway horse. “Nothin’s going on!”
The girls all rolled their eyes, laughing at your blush.
“Sure, and Uncle here has Lumbago.” Karen joked, earning an “It’s true!” From Uncle.
You all watched as Arthur calmed the horse with virtually no trouble, before taking hold of its reins and leading it towards the coach.
“Well done Arthur!” You couldn’t help but cheer in excitement. The girls all smirked at you, but you did your best to ignore them.
Arthur handed the Shire back to its owner, and returned to the wagon.
“You’re turning into a regular old Fairy Godmother there, Arthur.” Uncle joked.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Arthur tightened his grip on the reins, glancing to the old drunk.
“It means you’ve got a heart.” Mary Beth called out before she called Uncle a heartless old lizard.
“Lizards have hearts!” Uncle huffed, crossing his arms.
“Well, we’re proud of you, Arthur.” Tilly patted his shoulder.
“To be honest..” Arthur chuckled, “If you lot weren’t here, I probably would have robbed him.”
“I highly doubt that, Mr. Morgan.”
Arthur thanked the heavens that you couldn’t see his face. His own cheeks heated up at your comment, so he laughed it off and continued into town.
“Oooh yes, we can get up to some mischief here alright.” You looked around Valentine, enjoying seeing civilization for the first time in two weeks.
“Just remember to stay safe.. and keep a low profile.” Arthur warned, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
“Will you remember that though, Arthur?” You teased the cowboy.
He laughed, pulling on the reins to stop the wagon.
“Probably not. I’ll do my best.”
You all hopped off the wagon. Although you planned to accompany Arthur into the store, Karen dragged you away, telling you of some grand money making idea she had just thought of.
You and the girls all disappeared into the saloon after you exchanged a sheepish smile with Mr. Morgan himself.
Mary Beth woke Arthur up. She came to him and Uncle to tell them about a train robbery tip she had come across.
“Where’re the other girls?” Arthur asked Mary Beth, looking around the small town for you.
“I think at the hotel. They was picking up some drunken fellows that they was gonna rob.”
Arthur sat up straight, alarm bells ringing in his head. His eyes darted to the hotel, “Why?”
Mary Beth mumbled out a quiet “Seemed easy,” before furrowing her brows and looking over to the hold building, “They have been gone for quite a while..”
“I’ll go see if there’s any trouble.”
As Arthur stood up to go find you, he saw Tilly being dragged behind the building. He quickly excused himself, rushing over to stop the man from harassing Tilly. Tilly soon went to wait with Uncle and Mary Beth, while Arthur ventured inside the hotel. He was immediately greeted by Karen, counting a few dollar bills as she walked towards the exit.
“Hey Arthur!” She smiled, showing him what she acquired.
“Karen,” he noticed that she was alone, “where’s y/n?”
She shrugged, “She went into a room with some drunken fellow not too long ago. Should’ve been done by now.”
As if on cue, a loud crash sounded from overhead, followed by an frightened shout in a familiar voice. Arthur’s blood ran cold, and he rushed up the stairs to find the source of the sound. As he neared your room, he could hear a loud commotion on the other side of the door. Your voice was muffled, but became clearer and clearer as he got closer. The panic in your voice led his feet to room 2B.
“Get off of me!” You shouted through the door. Arthur tried the doorknob, but it was locked.
“I’m getting what I paid for.” He heard the man inside tell you. A moment later, Arthur heard a painful thud along with a cry of agony from you. Molten anger rolled through him, boiling in his stomach and roaring in his ears. The door didn’t stand a chance against Arthur Morgan.
When he finally got inside, Arthur seethed at the sight. If looks could kill, the stranger you’d picked up would be six feet below already.
You were on the ground, hands clutching your face. The stranger was standing in front of you with his fist raised in the air. “Who are you?” The man snapped. Arthur had to restrain himself from pulling out his revolver and putting a bullet in the mans brain that second. He refrained, favoring the alternate option to beat some manners into the drunk.
His hands were clenched into fists instantly, and he was surprised steam wasn’t flowing from his ears, “A friend of hers, you goddamn animal.”
You crawled to the corner of the room to stand yourself up as Arthur swung at your attacker. The man faltered, but didn’t back down. He put up his own fists, throwing a sloppy punch in Arthur’s direction. You cried out when the punch landed on Arthur’s jaw, but neither of them paid any attention. The liquor had kicked in, causing the stranger to quickly loose his footing. Arthur was given the opportunity to hit him again, this time knocking him to the ground. Arthur straddled the stranger, relentlessly punching him in the face.
It wasn’t until you cried out again, rushing to grab onto Arthur’s arm, did he stop hitting the man.
“Don’t kill him, Arthur! The law will be hot on our tail.”
Arthur’s face softened as he looked up at you. He was off the unconscious man in an instant, coming to your side.
“What the hell were you doing here?” He asked, reaching to examine your new black eye.
“Trying to play him. Not very well, I guess.” You frowned, looking down to the floor in shame.
“You okay?” His hands fell from your face reluctantly.
With a short nod, you tried to turn away from him. Arthur stopped you, gently tilting your head so you’d look at him.
“You sure?”
Your voice wavered slightly, but you did your best to push through it as you pulled away from his hands. “Yeah. It’s nothing.. nothing to worry about, it’s just.. men. The stupid bastard. Stupid bastard was boasting about the bank. He said he made big money there, lots of it.” The room grew quiet for a moment while you took a deep breath, “I don’t know, I just- I thought he’d be an easy score. I thought he’d have lots of cash on him.” Tears pooled in your eyes, but you held them back. Of course, nothing went unnoticed by Arthur.
“C’mere,” he opened his arms, gently bringing you into his warm chest. “It’s alright, you’re alright.”
If Arthur hadn’t come to find you, you’d be in serious trouble. You shuddered at the thought of what the man could have done, and swore at yourself for getting into such a situation in the first place.
“Thank you, Arthur.” You mumbled into his jacket.
“Don’t worry ‘bout it,” he told you, “I’m just glad you’re alright.”
“Let’s get outta here.” You reluctantly separated yourself from Arthur, sparing one more look at the drunk sprawled out on the floor. Arthur sure had done a number on him, you were thankful he had shown up when he did.
Arthur offered you his arm to grasp on to and led you out of the hotel.

this is olivia’s connections!!
song based connections
golden: the choices we make change the path that we take, but I know that somewhere out there there's a path that we chose, there's a life that we share, there's a love and it grows - a amizade de olivia e muse parece uma conexão de outra vida. parece que mesmo que acabem se perdendo no caminho, sempre se encontram de novo. podem ter se conhecido na infância, no ensino médio ou na faculdade mesmo
dusk till dawn: but you'll never be alone, i'll be with you from dusk till dawn, baby, I'm right here, i'll hold you when things go wrong, i'll be with you from dusk till dawn - muito migos confidentes que estão sempre lá um pelo outro quando as coisas dão errado, aquela primeira pessoa que você corre atrás quando tá com algum problema
there you are: only you know me the way you know me, only you forgive me when I'm sorry - queria botar a letra toda porque essa música é tudo :´), mas pensei que seria a única pessoa que saberia de todo o passado de olivia, pra quem ela conta o que realmente ta sentindo e é sincera de verdade, porque ela tem dificuldade de se abrir sobre o coração e ser frágil. com certeza seria recíproco
unfuckwitable: so tired of fake friends and fake love, you know, no time for no lie and I'm here to show. i found a way higher: me is all I need to be inspired - olivia ou muse foram fodidamente traidos um pelo outro, no sentido de amizade. e até hoje tem uma treta/rivalidade muito forte, estão sempre se alfinetando e tretando
you wish you knew: don't wanna put my love in you, don't wanna make a headline and lose, don't wanna be the one that you choose, ‘cause I'm the one, the one, the one that you wish you knew - olivia fez algo para muse no passado e elx simplesmente não confia nele, não quer ter nada com ele e nem chegar muito perto, pois sabe que ela sabe manipular. pode ser ao contrário, também.
sweat: oh, dripping down your body like gold. slowly steaming up the windows. my skin on your skin again and again, sweat for me, sweat for me - sexo, sexo, sexo. é só o que elxs tem, mas não significa que adorem isso. só os olhares entre elxs já pega fogo, quem dirá a cama.
common: as I lay here in your bed i need you on my chest to warm me all the time, to take away your breath. it's written on your lips, there ain't nothin' common 'bout us - claro, muse já deixou claro que não pode se envolver de jeito nenhum. ambxs sabem disso. mas tem algo a mais do que só noites vazias. tem algo ali que atrai as duas pessoas, que as conecta de alguma forma e olivia quer muito tentar a chance
feel something: i would fall into love and stay, would fall into love and stay. and its not fair, i keep on writing sequel stories i know that are not there. i just wanna feel something, i just wanna feel - depois de tantas decepções amorosas e na vida profissional, olivia quer se apaixonar de uma vez e ficar bem, e no desespero, quando vê muse dando bola de verdade, ela se joga completamente naquilo (o que pode fazer ela quebrar a cara, pode fazer muse usa-la etc, pode virar algo tóxico)
here: truly, I ain't got no business here but since my friends are here, I just came to kick it, but really I would rather be at home all by myself not in this room whith people who don't even care about my well being - olivia é arroz de festa sim, tem malícia e tem vontade de ser super porra louca. mas as vezes dá merda. então ela vai a uma festa, npc coloca algo no copo dela e ai ela começa a passar mal e muse ajuda ela
plastic hearts: hello, the sunny place for shady people a crowded room where nobody goes, you can be whoever you wanna be here. frightened by my own reflection, desperate for a new connection: pull you in but don't you get too close - duas connections aqui! muse a está levando a olivia pro mau caminho. incentiva ela a trapacear, chantagear, usar todos os recursos dela pra conseguir o que quer e subir na vida (dormir com chefes, trapacear para ser vista no ballet, etc). muse b, porém, começa a não reconhecer olivia e no fundo sabe que ela mesma não está se reconhecendo. seriam connections a longo prazo porque ao pouco a olivia vai ficar mais dark e tóxica, meio que se perdendo no caminho
angels like you: i know that you're wrong for me gonna wish we never met on the day I leave, i brought you down to your knees ‘cause they say that misery loves company. its not your fault I ruin everything and it's not your fault I can't be what you need: baby, angels like you can't fly down here with me - era a primeira vez que alguém estava realmente gostando de olivia. se apaixonando de verdade por ela. mas naquele momento, a vida profissional falava mais alto do que a romântica. depois de tantas decepções, ela achava que poderia decepcionar também. olivia trai a confiança de muse (spoilers no privado pra quem se interessar) e magoa-x
little white lies: but you, you don't tell the truth, no you, you like playing games. 'cause you've been taking up my mind, with your little white lies, little white lies - tiveram desavenças sérias no passado. por alguma briga feia causada por mentiras de algum dos lados, hoje em dia não confiam umx nx outrx e mal se olham na cara.
live while we’re young: let’s go crazy crazy crazy till we see the sun, i know we only met but let’s pretend it’s love. and never never never stop for anyone: tonight let’s get some and live while we’re young - se conheceram em uma festa, ficaram a noite toda conversando e desde então não pararam mais. pode ter rolado uns beijos ou não, o que importa é que muse sempre tenta fazer com que helena saia da zona de conforto e curta um pouco mais do que está acostumada, ou o contrário.
perfect: i might never be the one you take home to mother and I might never be the one who brings you flowers, but I can be the one, be the one tonight - não tinha jeito. muse e olivia sabiam que não iam dar certo juntos. mas ao mesmo tempo, sabiam que toda vez que quisessem uma noite rápida de diversão, podiam ligar umx prx outrx.
special connections
little help 2 (i dont want your help): alguma pessoa rica que seja sua amiga, e fique tentando a ajudar, pagando as coisas pra ela, comprando presentes aleatórios que deixam ela puta.

When Deans soul was marked for hell, the last thing on his mind was falling in love. Even before that, he just didn't think it was in the books for him. He was a hunter, and he couldn't let himself go getting attached to anyone, and it also wasn't like he had found anyone that truly connected with him.
There would only be a small handful of people who would miss him when he was gone. He wasn't a celebrity among the hunter community by any means. Dean Winchester was just a shadow, a ghost moving through towns, solving cases and saving the day before anyone really knew what was going on.
He was just a nameless hero. He would go out guns blazing and that would be that. Life over.
Good for nothing is the name they'll remember me by Done nothin' with my life for no one, I'm just waitin' to die I turned my back on the world You know I'd given up on livin' til I met you girl
September 18th, 2008. That was the day you met Dean Winchester. The day your life changed forever.
It was supposed to be a milk run. Just a simple case, but when you came across the blast site you knew it was going to be anything but simple.
It looked like a bomb had gone off. Trees were knocked over like they were tooth picks, the earth dead and dry within the space. But what really caught your attention was the man laying in the center of the blast site. Chest heaving and covered in dark soil.
“Holy shit-“ you breathed, slipping your gun into your waist band as you raced across the ground.
He must have heard you coming, because once you were close enough, he attempted to lung at you, failing miserably due to his loss of strength from fighting against the coffin. You dodged his half-assed attempt, pinning him back against the ground.
“Who the hell are you?” He growled, trying to blink the remaining dirt from his eyes.
“I should be the one asking that. I just saw you crawl out of the ground.”
Then you came into my life with come hither in your eyes Pulling me outta the grave what a nice surprise I die when our nights end, but I only stay dead til I see you again
Once the dirt had left his eyes, Dean squinted under the blinding midday sun, trying to see who exactly had him pinned to the ground. It first it was just a silhouette, but then as his pupils adjusted he felt his breath catch in his throat. His struggle against you hold ceasing.
Your face was smeared with dirt from his sudden struggle, big y/e/c eyes looking down at him as the wind blew several loose pieces of hair across your face, the sun outlining you in an almost golden trim.
“Where am I?” He spoke slowly, for some reason finding it hard to break away his eyes from your own.
“Just outside of Pontiac, Illinois.” You informed him, your tone firm as you spoke, “now, once again, who the hell are you?”
“My name is Dean Winchester!”
That’s when you froze. Your grip on him loosening as you rolled off of him, “No offense, but you’re supposed to be dead.”
“Well no shit Sherlock.” He coughed, brushing off some more dirt from his clothes as he pushed off front he ground, extending his hand to help you up, which you accepted.
Once you were on your feet, Dean was finally able to tear his eyes away from you, suddenly scanning the surrounding area.
“Who are you and what the hell happened here?”
“I’m Y/N Y/L/N. . . And the hell if I know. I heard rumors of a blast site outside of Pontiac and came to check it out. Sounded weird enough.” You admitted, quickly pulling your hair into a low pony tail as you talked.
“Why?”
“I’m a hunter. Weird is kinda my thing.” You shrugged.
When he looked back over to you, he felt his heartbeat pick up suddenly. He blamed it on his adrenaline from crawling out of the ground. He didn’t know you at all, and he found himself drawn to you like a moth towards flame.
I lie awake in the night just to see another dawn Used to be the sun was my weakness but them days are gone I feel your lips on mine Will you meet me by the river, baby, one more time?
“Am I ever going to see you again?” He asked slowly, leaning back against the car you had helped him jump start, eyes ever so slightly lighting up.
He didn't understand it. He had known you for maybe three hours now, and he was completely entranced by everything about you.
You gave him a surprised look, fishing into your back pocket and pulling out a poorly folded sticky note, you jotted down your phone number, passing it over to him with your index and middle fingers. “You've known me for what? three hours? and you’re already asking for my number? You really don't waste time do you Winchester?” You mocked, backing up towards your vehicle and flipping your keys.
“Its not like that!”
“You keep telling yourself that, Cowboy. Good luck out there!” slamming your drivers side door shut, you revved the engine before putting the car in drive and taking off down the empty stretch of back road, but not before blowing the jade eyed hunter a kiss.
Once again, At that time, Dean didn't know how much you would effect his life. The two of you would run into each other so often that you finally both agreed that it must be fate. A deep friendship blossoming from being the one to pull him free. And he found himself falling deeper and deeper in love with you each time your paths crossed. Eventually you just stuck around, and that made his heart and the very bones in his body shake.
September 18th, 2008. That was the day Dean Winchester began to believe in love at first sight. Because that was the day he met you.
I'll give you what you wanna have, I'll take you where you wanna go I'm the only man you'll ever need, girl, and now you know I'll write your name on my skin, as a promise that we'll never be apart again
“Damn it, y/n! You just had to barge in guns blazing didn’t you?!” Dean huffed, tearing the mid section of your shirt to take care of the new gash in your abdomen.
You let out a burst of light laughter, amused by his worry as he popped open the first aid kit, “You guys were getting your asses handed to you. It was just a couple of werewolves.” You breathed, wincing as Dean rubbed an alcohol wipe across the wound, not caring for gentleness. He was mad at you. . . Again.
“Yeah, a couple! Look at you! Your bleeding out!” He snapped, his hands working fast to clean and close the wound.
“No need to get so upset-“
“Well it’s a little late for that sweetheart!” Slamming the kid of the kit closed, he gave you one of his famous death stares. One of which you got way too often.
Swallowing, you pushed yourself into a sitting position, “I’m sorry, Dee. I just didn’t want you to get hurt.” You mumbled, eyes begging for his forgiveness.
Deans shoulders fell along with his face as he let out a sigh. The anger was now gone, quickly replaced with concern and worry. Instead of pushing up from the ground like he normally did, he leaned over, pressing his forehead against yours, “I know, I know. I’m sorry I got mad. I just freaked out when I saw you hurt.” He admitted.
“Well, I’m okay because of you. You saved me. . . Yet again.”
I feel alive when I'm with you, baby So tell me that I won't ever be lonely again Don't wanna die I wanna wander the world with you And no one else for the rest of my days on this earth
The sound of the bunker door opening, followed with a string of laughter told Sam that you and Dean had just returned from the supply run. It was always the same each time you returned.
Closing the laptop in front of him, he turned in his seat, watching the two of you descend the metal stairs, arms full of grocery bags as you continued to laugh.
“I’m guessing the supply run went well?” He mused.
Dropping the bags on the table, you looked at the younger Winchester with wide eyes, “Dean slipped and fell on the ice outside!” You blurted, doubled over in laughter once more as Dean sidled up next to you, shaking his head as a massive smile took up his features.
“Alright, get your laughter out.” He grinned.
“He’s a total klutz!” You wheezed.
Rolling his eyes, Dean stepped forward, wrapping his arm around you and throwing you over his shoulder in a fireman's hold “Alright, you and I are gonna go and have a talk.” He chuckled, beginning his walk down the hallway.
“Oh, are we?” You mocked, your voice fading as the two of you disappeared into the depths of the bunker. Another burst of laughter echoing down the hall before being cut off by a slamming door.
A small smile tugged on Sams lips as he turned back to his work. Ever since you had come into his brothers life, Dean had seemed happier, more full of energy and life, even during hunts and hard times. He was grateful for you. They both were.
I turned my back on the world I wasn't always like this, girl Do you know what loneliness does to a man? Turn him into the walking dead I may have died but your lovin' raised me
“You stubborn, stubborn idiot!” You whispered harshly, falling to you knees next to a very unconscious Dean Winchester, “you just had to go and get yourself knocked out.”
The case had been going fine. Hell, it had been going great. Two hunters. Two vampires. Halfway through your fight with them, your partner had to lose focus, resulting in him getting his head slammed into a door, rendering him useless for the rest of the fight. Luckily you had taken the second one down with ease. . . But now You had a 180 lb mass to take care of.
Taking the loose flannel that was tied around your hips, you quickly tore it down the middle, being careful as you went to wrap it around the gash on his head.
“You stupid, stupid idiot.” You sighed again, taking in deep breaths as you tried to calm yourself.
“Would you quote calling me stupid and stubborn?” He groaned suddenly, green eyes fluttering open to look up at you.
And then you slapped him, the sound almost echoing through the empty barn, resulting in a light yell from Dean as he grabbed your wrist.
“What the hell!?”
“That was for not listening to me, and getting yourself hurt!” You snapped, before quickly pulling him upright and into a hug. “Don’t do that!”
“God, you’re insane. . . and I am completely in love with you.” Dean sighed, resting his hand on the base of your neck before pulling you back down to his lips.
I feel alive when I'm with you, baby So tell me that I won't ever be lonely again You saved my life I just wanna repay you in kind Ain't no one else ever tell you you're beautiful, girl?
He didn’t know how long the two of you had been sitting there, but one thing was for sure; he didn’t want this moment to end.
You and Dean had been sitting on the hood of the impala for what felt like hours, watching the sun set behind the trees. What used to be a lovely apricot sky, was now a deep navy blue, almost black. The star scattered sky felt like a blanket laid across the earth, and neither of you could bring yourselves to go inside.
Tearing your eyes away from the heavens, you looked over you shoulder at Dean, a light smile on your lips, “Didn’t you bring me out here to ask me something. . . Like a few hours ago?”
“Yeah, yeah . . . But if you want to just keep looking at the stars, that’s fine.” He grinned, his hands still deep in his coat pockets as he fidgeted with the small item tucked within. Unfortunately you quickly caught on to his uneasiness, sliding over the hood of the car and turning your body to face him.
“Alright, what’s going on?”
He wasn’t good at these sorts of things. . . Then again, he never really had done anything like this. It didn’t help that you made him a nervous wreck. You were so beautiful and badass. You rendered him speechless more times than he cared to admit.
Slowly he took his hand out of his pocket, opening his palm to show you the ring resting in the center. It wasn’t elegant by any means. In fact, Dean had made it from solid iron.
His nerves only grew when you didn’t say anything. After a moment he felt your fingers graze the skin of his palm, picking up the small piece of jewelry.
“Did you make this?” You breathed, turning it over in your hands as you looked at it, the moon giving off enough light to allow you to see it properly.
“Yeah. I know you don’t do fancy, so I made it out of iron.” He explained, watching a massive smile light up your face. That was a good sign, right?
“Dean Winchester are you asking me to marry you?” You smiled, quirking your eyebrow as you smiled at him.
“Been meaning to for awhile. . . But yeah, I am.” He nodded.
His heart stuttered in his chest when you moved to open his palm, slowly surrendering the ring to him once more. “Y/n, wait-“
“I think you should do the honors.” You smiled again, extending your fanned out fingers.
Dean let out a sigh of relief, shoulder instantly relaxing, “oh thank god. I thought you were saying no there for a second.” He breathed, taking your hand so he could slide the cool band over your ring finger.
“I could never say no to you.” You smiled, gripping his hand in yours as you looked over at him.”But I do have one question, there was something engraved on the inside of it, what did it say?”
“September 18th.” Dean spoke plainly, squeezing your hand, “Because that’s the day I met you. The day I started to believed in the love at first sight. . . It’s also the day I plan to marry you on.”
I feel alive when I'm with you, baby So tell me that I won't ever be lonely again Don't wanna die I wanna wander the world with you And no one else for the rest of my days on this earth
The End.

Hear me out: Sam Wilson knows voguing.
Oh my gosh, Anon! I love you. Yes, yes he does. You inspired me to write something.
Sam Wilson was a self-taught dancer, and he was damn good at it, too. Started off real young and tried out most styles, though there were few he loved. He and the neighborhood kids used to have dance battles at the ball courts across the street from hid daddy’s church in Harlem; the winner got bragging rights and the allowance of the kids. Sam usually won since he was the only who knew how to vogue. His spin and dip was a showstopper; none of the others could compare.
As he got older, he retained his talent for dancing, but utilized his impressive physical prowess for other things in adulthood: Namely Avenging and soaring effortlessly through the sky. While being an actual, real-life superhero did not afford him time to go out dancing, he often danced around the Avengers base of operations when he thought no one was looking.
The thing is, someone was always looking at him. Stealing little glances here and there, or outright staring at him. That someone was Bucky Barnes.
“See somethin’ you like, Barnes?” Sam would often joke, causing the ex-assassin to turn a muted shade of red and stumble on his words.
“Kiss my ass,” was all Bucky could muster as a form of response.
“Hmmm tempting,” Sam would reply with a wink, causing Bucky to turn bright red as he shied away from exploring what their flirting actually meant.
While Bucky enjoyed the banter and teasing, he swore to himself that if he was going to ogle Sam Wilson in the future, he was going to try to not get caught. He thought all of his Christmases had come at once when he happened to walk into the kitchen one lazy afternoon to find Sam with some song that he didn’t recognize turned up as he danced around the otherwise empty space.
Bucky stopped at the doorway and watched. Sam was stunning. Hands down the most beautiful man he had ever laid eyes on. Bucky had seen countless times how he was in tune with his own body; how he was able to manoeuvre through the sky, evading enemy fire. The man knew how to move. And, to Bucky’s absolute pleasure, that talent extended to dancing.
The older man used to dance when he was a young man and wasn’t that bad at it, but Sam’s moves were awe-inspiring. Bucky had never seen anything like it. Sam was able to straighten his limbs while simultaneously looking more relaxed and loose than Bucky had ever seen. He could not tear his eyes away if he wanted to. He stayed leaning against the doorjamb as Sam continued to dance while preparing some food.
Sam brought his hands up to frame his face before doing a graceful spin.
“Shit, Barnes!” Sam said as he clutched his hand to his chest, startled to see the other man standing there watching him. “You scared the hell outta me. What’re you doin’, anyway? Creeping around watching me?”
“Sorry,” Bucky said immediately. “Didn’t mean to frighten you. Didn’t mean to stare.”
“See somethin’ you like, eh?” Sam teased.
“Yeah, actually,” Bucky said, surprising himself and Sam. “You’re a good dancer. Well, better than good, you’re great.”
He was then blessed by the brightest, prettiest smile from Sam, which caused his heart to skip a beat, so he kept speaking.
“I knew you were talented, but what you were just doin’ was somethin’ else,” Bucky added, causing the gorgeous grin to stay on Sam’s pretty face. “What do you call it?”
“Thanks, man,” said Sam. “It’s called voguing.”
“Voguing,” Bucky repeated, intent on committing to memory every single thing that Sam Wilson liked. “How’d you get so good?”
“Been dancing since I was a kid,” said Sam, before adding, “Hey, you want somethin’ to eat?”
He gestured to his nachos, and Bucky nodded. Sam picked up the food and they moved to the table, sitting side-by-side. Their fingers brushed as they both reached for a chip at the same time. Bucky couldn’t help the way his tummy started doing little flips.
“Did you train professionally?” Bucky asked.
“Nah, nothin’ like that,” said Sam with a little smile. “Used to battle the other kids in my old neighborhood for their pocket money.”
“Harlem, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Bet you made a killing,” Bucky proffered with a smile of his own as he thought about Sam besting the other kids with his moves.
“I did okay,” said Sam, vaguely thinking that Barnes’ smile was stellar and made his whole face light up.
“Don’t get modest on me now,” Bucky said playfully as he nudged Sam’s shoulder with his, eliciting a laugh from the other man.
“Let’s just say that one year, by Thanksgiving, I had enough money to buy myself these new sneakers I’d been eyeing for a minute.”
“Did they improve your moves?”
“Nah,” said Sam with a nostalgic look in his eyes. “I didn’t end up gettin’ them.”
“Why not?”
“My daddy’s a minister,” said Sam as he began to explain. “And every weekend, his church would run a soup kitchen. Around the holidays, they’d run lunches for people who needed it. A lot of people are alone on the holidays, so there were always more mouths to feed at those times of the year. So, I donated the money to go towards Thanksgiving lunch that year. It wasn’t much, but I wanted to help out.”
Bucky found himself staring at Sam and not saying a word. If he had a crush on him before, he was smitten with him now.
“What?” asked Sam as he playfully nudged Bucky’s shoulder.
“You’re amazing,” said Bucky. “Even as a kid you were using your talent to help people.”
“It was nothin’,” said Sam, trying to brush off the compliment in an effort to slow his heart which had suddenly quickened from the way Bucky was looking at him.
“Don’t get modest, Wilson,” said Bucky with a grin. “You’re a good man. Best man I’ve ever met, and I’ve been around for a while.”
Sam’s face flushed warm as he smiled shyly at the older man.
“It’s like you hatched from an egg or somethin’,” said Bucky.
“That better not be a bird joke, Barnes,” said Sam in jest. “Because you were doin’ so well with flattering me.”
Bucky laughed and Sam thought it sounded like music.
“Nah,” said Bucky. “I just meant there’s no one out there like you. I’ve never met anyone like you. You’re funny as hell. You’re smart. You’re kind. You’re a goddamn hero. You’re the best at voguing. You’re just – you’re great.”
Sam gifted Bucky with another wide, stunning smile.
“Damn, Barnes,” he said. “You got a crush on me or something?”
Bucky didn’t shy away this time, instead he held Sam’s gaze and said, “Yeah, actually, I do.”

Talk to Me- Chapter 4
Summary: On their way home, Domino and Steelbeak take a detour through the park. The pair take their time talking, getting to know each other, and reveal old wounds that bring them closer together.
Notes: Slight trigger warning for this chapter for mentions of gun violence, police brutality, and some minor bodily horror regarding Steelbeak’s beak (but it’s nothing overly graphic).
-First Chapter-
“-and I still have all of the dresses in my closet.” Dominic said, an amused smile on his face as he reached the end of his story.
The pair of agents had finished their dinner over an hour ago and, with neither wanting to end the date quite yet, had stopped at the park on their way back home. The gates had been locked as part of the local government’s vain attempts to keep petty criminals, supervillains (particularly Bushroot and the rest of the Fearsome Four) out at night; the locks didn’t slow them down for more than two seconds before they were in. Still, the locks did serve a different kind of greater good now- they allowed Dominic and Steelbeak to have the scenic park all to themselves as they walked wherever they felt like and talked the night away.
Steelbeak laughed at the other man’s tale, shaking his head as he walked beside him. “Wow, that IS crazy. You’ll have t’ show ‘em to me sometime- bet they look real good on ya.”
“I suppose I could model one or two of them for you.” Dominic looked at the other bird expectantly. “Same question: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever had to do on a mission?”
They’d started playing “fact trade” a while ago. Dominic remembered it from his school days and thought it would be a fun way for them to get to know each other better. The rules were simple- they would take turns asking each other questions and whoever refused to answer one would lose. Both of them were too stubborn to give up easily, so they’d been going back and forth for over half an hour already.
Steelbeak pondered the question for a moment, tapping the base of his beak before an amused smirk slipped onto his face. “Alright, so, this one time F.O.W.L. High Command’s got me stealin’ all this rubber for- and I ain’t jokin’ on this one- a giant, bouncin’, remote-controlled SUPERBALL.”
“Oh, this is already off to a great start.” Dominic nodded along as he listened.
“I know, right? Think the guys were runnin’ outta ideas.” Steelbeak chuckled before continuing. “So, like I said, I’m tryin’ t’ steal this rubber and- big shocker- Dipwing Dork keeps showin’ up t’ stop me, only he ain’t alone this time.”
“Did he have his sidekick with him?” The loon’s mind wandered briefly to the handsome, well-built pilot that seemed to tag along with Darkwing wherever he went. He’d have to see about getting him alone sometime without his annoying boss around..
“Yeah, but this time he’s got someone else, too.” Steelbeak continued. “See, it’s this weird alien- real’ stupid lookin’ with muscles ten times the size of his brain. The guy’s got crazy powers and takes out me an’ the eggmen all on his own. Second fight with the guy, I get thrown in a closet and hear ‘em arguin’: The guy’s there gettin’ trainin’ from Dorkwing on how t’ be a ‘real hero’, but he’s so annoyin’ that even DARKWING gets fed up with ‘im!” He chuckled a little, his shoulders shaking as he tried to hold in his laughter long enough to finish his story. “So, I figure, why let that much power go t’ waste? I put together a superhero costume usin’ what I got in the closet…and come out with a towel on my back, a plunger in my hand, and a friggin’ BUCKET on my head I’d pecked a couplea eye holes in!”
“A bucket?” Oh, that image would be in Dominic’s head ALL NIGHT. “And that worked?”
“It did! Told that chump I was a ‘superhero trainer extraordinaire’ named ‘Professor Steelcluck’, and he FELL FOR IT!” Steelbeak laughed, holding his side as his laughter left him wheezing. “OH man, I’m tellin’ ya, that was even better than gettin’ Darkwing an’ Gizmoduck t’ fight each other!”
The rooster’s laughter was contagious, making the darker bird laugh too. “I wish I could have been there to see it.” After they’d both settled down, Dominic looked up at the taller man. “It’s your turn.”
“Let’s seeeee…” Steelbeak hummed as he thought his question over. Then, as if the humming gave him an idea, he grinned. “Oh, that’s a good one: What kinda music do ya like?”
“I actually don’t listen to music that often.” He replied. “Sometimes I’ll put on classical music if I want something in the background or I’ll find an artist here and there whose style I enjoy- like the one on the radio earlier- but I don’t really have anything I’m particularly interested in.”
“Classical stuff, huh? I’ll have t’ remember that..” The other bird muttered to himself before holding his hands out in front of himself like he was playing a piano with a chuckle. “I ever tell ya ‘bout the time I had t’ go undercover as a concert pianist for a couple months?”
“No, you haven’t.” So his assumption from before had been correct. “I didn’t know you played.”
“Yeah, can’t do nothin’ fancy like read sheet music, but I got a pretty good ear an’ can play a few songs if I hear ‘em enough times. Spent two months travelin’ ‘round the country playin’ songs so me an’ my ‘entourage’ could break int’ all the swanky hotels, music halls, and galleries the band played at- we cleaned ‘em out an’ snuck everythin’ out in the instrument cases.” Two light fingers lifted up and tapped the side of his beak, producing a dull “thump” like an empty plastic cup. “That’s where I got this one- stands out less than my usual piece. Not as good in a fight, but it works when I gotta blend in..plus it’s heck of a lot better for preenin’ than the metal one.”
“I can imagine..” Dominic winced in sympathy at the thought of trying to preen his feathers with such sharp, jagged metal- he’d probably end up tearing skin with a beak like that. That thought actually brought to mind a question that had been on his mind for some time now and, knowing that it was technically his turn, he felt it was a perfect time to ask. “Why do you use prosthetics, anyway? Were you injured during a mission?”
“Nah, nothin’ that excitin’.” Steelbeak said while scratching at some of the feathers around the edge of his beak with one finger. “Good old fashioned case of police brutality: I was fourteen, got caught stealin’ from this high-end mall. I was faster than the security, but it was one of those places where they had cops patrollin’ the area on speed dial- couldn’t outrun the cars an’ they grabbed me when I tried t’ climb a fence. One of ‘em pinned me t’ the ground while the other one stomped on my beak..said they were gonna ‘teach me a lesson’.” He winced, rubbing a finger over the beak to comfort what was likely a phantom pain. “Hurt like heck..broke most of it off..guess I got lucky it didn’t get infected, but it sure felt like it did..” Dominic saw the feathers on the rooster’s comb fluff slightly before he shook his head. “Anyway, when I signed up with F.O.W.L. I got access t’ all those sweet free doctors an’ surgeons- they whipped up the fakes an’ gave me a new identity. Still got some of the real one underneath, though. Stings sometimes, but it don’t hurt as bad when I cover it.”
“……” Dominic debated for a moment over the request he was about to make. Would it be rude to ask? “..I want to see it.” He finally said after a minute, his curiosity winning out. “If you’re comfortable with it, of course.”
“…” Steelbeak stopped walking to look down at him. “It ain’t exactly pretty t’ look at.”
“I don’t care- I want to see it.” The loon repeated resolutely.
“Alright, don’t say I didn’t warn ya..” He reached up to the sides of his beak with both hands and started applying pressure with his fingertips. After a moment there was a popping sound and the material shifted, looking more like it was loosely resting on something rather than connected now. He took the top part of the false beak in one hand and the bottom in the other and carefully pulled it away.
Once he finally got a full look at what had been hidden under the plastic, Dominic could certainly see what Steelbeak meant: It was not a pretty sight.
A large portion of it had been broken off, leaving behind dark scars that contrasted the natural yellow color. The closest part to still being intact was a long strip along the upper-right side of the rooster’s mouth, reaching almost the same length as the prostheses. Right beside that, though, was a sharp, jagged drop that didn’t go back up until almost reaching the middle of his mouth. After that there were two small slivers of his beak centered around the middle, leading to one last piece on the left that was barely an eighth of an inch longer than the other two. And that was just the UPPER mandible- the lower one was nothing but one half-length sliver in the middle and a few scattered fragments. Then, to top it all off, both parts of his beak were fixed to a thin metallic frame outlining the normal shape of a beak with a wire-mesh connecting the natural pieces to a series of metal posts that had been drilled into the hard tissue at the base of his beak and two small metal bolts at the corners of his mouth.
Looking at it left Dominic with some harshly conflicting feelings. On one hand, while it wasn’t the most beautiful sight in the world, it was quite an interesting feat of medical and scientific engineering. On the other hand, though, it was sickening to think that two fully grown men would pin down a child and permanently disfigure him in such a horrific way.
“It really doesn’t hurt..?” Just LOOKING at it made his own pointed beak ache- the loon shuddered to think what it must actually feel like.
The taller bird gave a calm shrug, able to still speak surprisingly clearly. “Not like it used to. Smarts a bit every now an’ then, but it’s mostly just phantom pains. Talkin’ an’ other stuff don’t bother it, but if I try t’ eat without one of the fakes it feels like gettin’ kicked all over again.”
“I see..” He took one last look at the mix of broken tissue and metal before looking up into the rooster’s eyes again. “Thank you for showing me.”
“Eh, don’t mention it.” Steelbeak brought the prosthesis back up to his mouth and slipped it over the metal frame all the way up to the base, popping the corners onto the bolts with an audible click. After opening and closing his mouth a few times to check it, he looked back down at Dominic as they continued their earlier pace. “Hey, whose turn was it again?”
“Yours.” The loon replied, walking beside him at an even pace.
“Right, right..” Taking a minute to think his next question over, Steelbeak eventually came up with something and gave the loon a curious look. “Why’d ya join F.O.W.L., anyway? Sharp, good-lookin’ guy like you had t’ have options, right?”
“Not really..” Dominic looked up at the moon as they walked. “My mother lost her job right when I was about to graduate from high school. Before I knew it, I was forced to drop out and we were living on the streets. Without a diploma I couldn’t get accepted into the college I’d applied for and I had to beg for money on street corners just to get by.” He scowled a little, the memories of those days still bitter and unpleasant for him. “The recruiter for that sector, Di Amund, approached me after he saw me take down two police officers on my own- they were trying to arrest me for vagrancy and, well, you know what happens when someone tries to pin me to a wall.” He heard a hum of acknowledgement in response. “He told me that I would be paid well, get to travel the world, and even be given a place to live. I took the enrollment bonus he offered, gave it to my mother, and left for the northern academy as soon as I could.”
Their walk had led them to the lake in the middle of the park, it seemed. Once Dominic’s story concluded, Steelbeak crouched down by the bank to pick up a few stones. “Livin’ on the streets, huh? Bet that must’ve been rough.” He split them up, keeping half for himself and offering the other half to Dominic. “Livin’ like that’s gotta be hard..bet ya picked up a few things that stuck with ya, right?”
“I suppose..” Dominic took the offered rocks, picking one and tossing it across the water’s surface to get about three skips before it sank.
“Ya probably have trouble throwin’ food away when it’s stale.” Steelbeak tossed one of his own rocks, getting four skips out of it. “Not the stuff that gets moldy or goes bad like meat, or vegetables, or dairy- I bet ya know just how sick you can get offa that junk- but I bet ya probably still keep the dry stuff like chips an’ crackers after their expiration date ‘cause it don’t make sense throwin’ it away, right? Sure, they don’t taste that good anymore, but they’re still good t’ eat an’ it bugs ya wastin’ that sorta thing.”
While he was in the process of throwing another stone, Domino halted and turned his head to look at the other bird- the resulting toss only getting one skip. “How do you-?”
“I bet ya have a few shirts or pants with little holes an’ tears in ‘em stashed away in your drawers, right?” He wasn’t looking at the loon as he spoke, his eyes on the lake as he threw another stone- five skips that time. “They’re kinda beat up, but they still fit just fine, so ya keep ‘em ‘round for the days when ya know you’re not gonna go nowhere or see nobody. Y’know you could just buy more, but why waste the money when ya don’t gotta, right?” Another stone, six skips across the water. “Ya probably hate not bein’ able t’ shower right after gettin’ dirty, too, huh? Longer ya go without it, the more it bugs ya ‘cause it brings back memories of when you’d have t’ go days, probably even weeks without one.” There was a far off look in his eyes as he threw his last stone, the rock reaching almost to the other side of the water before it sank. “And ya can’t sleep without some kinda weapon nearby..but it ain’t just ‘cause of the trainin’ with F.O.W.L.- it’s ‘cause part of your brain still thinks you’re gonna get jumped, even though you’re in a locked room an’ not in an open alley somewhere, right?”
“…You’re right.” Dominic had been looking at Steelbeak the whole time he spoke. At first he’d been surprised that the other man knew some of his less obvious habits so easily, but now, after seeing the distant look in the rooster’s eyes and listening to the tone of his voice, he understood where that knowledge came from. “You used to live like that too, didn’t you?”
“Yeah..” A small, melancholy smile tugged at the lighter bird’s beak as he watched the ripples slowly roll across the lake from the stones that he’d thrown. “Used t’ live with my old man in a rinky-dink shack way out in New Duck City. Spent most of the time inside ‘cause the old man flipped his lid anytime I tried gettin’ out, for some reason. Never went out t’ eat, never went t’ the doctor, and definitely didn’t go t’ school- had t’ teach myself t’ read an’ write an’ junk ‘cause he sure as heck wasn’t gonna. Only ever got one visitor..” His attempt at a smile started to fall as the last of the ripples slowly went still. “My ma- least, I think she was my ma, she didn’t really come ‘round that much, could’ve just been some broad he liked, but we had the same eyes so I called her ma- anyway, my ma disappeared when I was about eight. Old man got way worse after that..started comin’ home with black eyes an’ bloody shirts, and even askin’ ‘bout what he did earned me a cuff upside the head. Then, one night about two years after my ma stopped comin’ around, there was all this racket outside and I kept seein’ red an’ blue lights through the curtains…got outta bed an’ went t’ see what all the noise was about..” He gave a short, strained laugh and shook his head, the lake finally still enough that both of their reflections were visible in the water’s surface again. “The old man went down swingin’- up ‘gainst ten cops with just a glock and he STILL took out half of ‘em…right before they iced ‘im. After that they started comin’ for the front door. I didn’t know nothin’ ‘bout cops back then, all I knew was they were the guys that just plugged my old man full of holes and thought they were gonna do the same t’ me…so, I ran out the back and kept on runnin’..” He took a deep breath and sighed, finally looking away from the water and up towards the sky. “Didn’t have nowhere else t’ go and no one t’ turn to, so I just kinda drifted ‘round from one alley t’ the next..went on like that for a few years, gettin’ by with what I could get for free and stealin’ what I couldn’t..”
Dominic wasn’t really sure what to say at first.
That was…a lot to unpack.
For all of his flashy style, expensive taste in clothes and cars and gifts, and his general demeanor, Dominic never would have guessed that Steelbeak dealt with that sort of thing from such a young age. Ending up on the streets in his teens had already been hard enough to survive day to day- he could only imagine how much worse it was for a child who should have been just starting middle school…
Black fingers tossed a stone across the lake, distorting the reflections again as it skipped five times. “How did you end up in F.O.W.L.?” A distraction, he eventually decided, would probably be better than sympathy in that moment.
To his relief, Dominic saw the life slowly returning to his partner’s eyes. “Now that,” Steelbeak began with a smile slowly forming on his beak once more. “Is a fun one..” He took one of the rocks the loon handed him and threw it at the lake, getting four skips. “So, I’m skulkin’ ‘round the classy part of Featherton lookin’ for chumps t’ fleece, when I see this guy goin’ off on some poor bird sellin’ hot dogs out of a cart. The guy’s a real jerk, y’know? Yellin’ at the girl, tellin’ her she don’t what she’s doin’, sayin’ she gave ‘im the wrong change- just bein’ a real tool, y’know?” He smirked, chuckling quietly. “Then I see his wallet stickin’ outta his back pocket and think to myself ‘This must be karma’s way of teachin’ ‘im not t’ be such a prick’, and who am I to argue with karma, right? So I snag his wallet when I’m walkin’ past- the moron don’t even notice ‘til I’m duckin’ ‘round the corner. He had over two hundred in there, it felt like I’d won the friggin’ lottery!” He watched as Dominic threw a stone, six skips that time. “I treat myself t’ a nice lunch in one of the lower-class joints on the other side of town, stock up on groceries, then head back t’ the half-finished construction site I’d been crashin’ in for the past couple weeks. I turn in for the night, thinkin’ I had a pretty good day…” He kneels down by the bank and finds another stone. “ ‘Course, that changed when I woke up t’ someone grabbin’ me in the middle of the night.” He found a suitable rock and threw it without standing up, only getting three skips. “It was the guy whose wallet I stole- he’d tracked me down an’ brought his buddies for backup. I see one of ‘em pullin’ out handcuffs an’ think they’re cops, so I grab the knife I keep up my sleeve and start fightin’ back. I get in a few good licks before I bolt, even slice the guy with the wallet right up over his eye.” Unable to find any more rocks, he eventually stood back up. “I almost get away, when BOOM! Some big guy in an egg-shaped helmet clothes-line’s me when I’m goin’ down the stairs. I fall down, black out, and wake up tied to a chair in a dark room. Buncha guys start askin’ me questions ‘bout who I’m workin’ for an’ I tell ‘em ‘Hey, if I had a job, ya think I’d be pinchin’ wallets and sleepin on rebar?’- I figured I was gonna die anyway, so might as well go out swingin’, y’know?” He chuckled, watching Dominic throw the last of his own stones out into the water- beating Steelbeak’s best toss and actually reaching the other side. “Nice shot. So, they keep at it for a while, even start pullin’ out guns an’ threatenin’ t’ kill me. When I don’t break down cryin’, the lights come on and this big TV comes outta nowhere- it was my first time meetin’ High Command. Turns out the chump I pickpocketed was one of their top generals and’ they were impressed ‘cause, not only did I manage t’ steal from a general AND take out a bunch of their guys on my own, but it turns out they can’t find any record of me even EXISTIN’- no birth certificate, no social, nothin’..guess my old man never wanted anyone t’ know ‘bout me, for some reason..anyway, High Command offers me a job. Same sorta thing they tell everyone they pick up off the streets- ‘come work for us, you’ll get money, a place t’ live, blah, blah, blah’. Didn’t have much t’ lose, so I signed up. Was too young for the academy, so they just had me shadow my first partner and learn the ropes from ‘im. Officially joined when I was fifteen, got full agent status a year later, and the rest is history.”
Dominic looked at the lighter bird curiously. “Wait- you were only sixteen when you became an agent?”
Steelbeak returned the questioning look with a proud smirk. “Ye-p. Youngest agent in F.O.W.L. history ever. Earned my promotion after that little ‘incident’ with my first partner: High Command figured I’d proved my loyalty and was good enough t’ start field work.”
“……” Red eyes gazed down at the slowly stilling reflections of the lake before, after deciding there was nothing else to do over there, Dominic started walking down the trail again. “I think I owe you an apology.”
Steelbeak followed after the shorter bird, looking down at him with one brow cocked curiously. “I ain’t gonna argue with ya on that one, but I gotta know- for what?”
“For..how I treated you at first.” He was reluctant to do so, but the loon decided he’d swallow his pride long enough to give the other man the apology he deserved (though he wasn’t willing to look him in the eyes just yet). “When High Command transferred me to Saint Canard, they originally told me that I was being reassigned as the apprentice for the chief officer of F.O.W.L.. I assumed someone with such a high rank would be much older than me, probably someone close to retirement looking for a protégé to pass his secrets on to…and then I read your file. The first thing I saw was your date of birth and I thought ‘Wait, we’re both 33?’. I felt so..insulted that they would want to make me an apprentice for someone who was only two months older than me- it felt like I was being demoted.” A frustrated sigh left him as he ran his fingers through his hair, pushing some of the longer strands back briefly before they fell back into place. “Luckily they changed my title to ‘partner’ by the time I arrived, but the whole thing still left a bad taste in my mouth when I was already in a bad mood…and I’m pretty sure it showed in my attitude. I didn’t realize that, despite our age, you had so many more years of experience.” Finally, he looked back up into the other’s dark eyes. “So..I’m sorry for how I treated you when we first met, you didn’t deserve all of the attitude that I gave you- only some of it.”
“Wow,” Steelbeak said with a quiet snicker. “That looked excrucriatin’.” Dominic was about to tell him that, yes, it hurt him immensely to say that out loud, but he was surprised when the other bird’s cocky smirk softened slightly and he looked away while running a hand over his comb. “But…I gotta take my share of the blame, too. I know I ain’t the easiest guy t’ work with.” He sighed and looked back down at Dominic’s inquisitive gaze. “Truth is, I didn’t expect ya t’ last this long, most partners don’t last a month with me. They usually get killed, get on my nerves so much I just let ‘em die, or I get on their nerves so much that they take the first transfer they see- one guy even took a demotion down t’ eggman in the arctic just t’ get as far away from me as possible. I’m..kinda used to them just comin’ an’ goin’ now, so I try not t’ get attached..I don’t even bother learnin’ their names most of the time.” The corner of his beak lifted up in a half smile. “Believe it or not, you’re the longest lastin’ partner I’ve ever had. I didn’t really know what t’ do with ya after the first month went by and you were still here, so I tried bein’ more social but..well…guess the damage was already done, huh?” The look in his eyes was gentle, almost pleading when he next spoke- an expression that Dominic wasn’t used to seeing on him. “Can we just, I dunno…start over? Start things from this week and pretend everything before didn’t happen?”
Pretend none of it ever happened?
The rude introductions, snide remarks, venomous words, and cold glares that made up the bulk of their first month together…The awkward trips to bars and restaurants where he’d blown Steelbeak off in favor of some good looking strangers…That horrible first dinner where Steelbeak had obviously been trying to impress him like he was another one of his usual arm-candy “dates”…The unnecessarily expensive gifts and the inevitable frustration that followed…
To pretend that none of that happened and just start over from this week- to start from that day in the break room where they’d shared a nice meal and had pleasant conversation while toying with the idea of having dinner at Steelbeak’s apartment sometime in the future- that, honestly, was one of the best suggestion he’d ever heard.
A soft smile spread across the loon’s dark beak, the smile instantly easing the other bird’s expression back into an equally soft look. “I’d like that.”
For a while, neither of them said a word, they just gazed into each other's eyes. They’d bared a lot to each other, exposed old wounds (literally, in Steelbeak’s case), and, with just a couple hours of actually talking to one another, had grown closer than they had in the months they’d worked together. In a way, it was a little silly: If they’d just talked to each other like normal people, they could have avoided so many awkward or unpleasant moments and may have even been further along than a first date by now. Well, they couldn’t go back and fix things, but they could definitely treat this as a new beginning and try not to repeat their past mistakes.
Before they’d realized it, they were at the end of the path back at the gate leading out of the park.
Dominic felt his smile fall ever so slightly. He really wasn’t in the mood to leave yet, not when things were going so well..
“Hey, stripes,” Steelbeak’s voice caught his attention and Dominic looked up at his partner curiously, seeing that the rooster’s focus was set on something on the other side of the fence. “You’re packin’ heat, right?”
“Always.” Dominic patted the side of his shirt, right over where he had his guns holstered beneath the fabric.
A smirk that promised mischief spread across the rooster’s face when he met his partner’s eyes, pointing at something on the sidewalk just outside of the park. “Ya packin’ ice, too?”
He looked at the object curiously, a matching smirk appearing on his own face when he found the object in question. Oh, this was going to be fun.
<-Previous Chapter Next Chapter->
End Notes: This was probably my favorite chapter to write for this story. Coming up with a backstory for Steelbeak was way more fun then it probably should have been, but I couldn’t resist going all out x3
I also had a lot of fun thinking up what his beak would look like under the prosthesis and drew inspiration from the fact that I’ve had A LOT of dental work done in the past and actually have an artificial tooth with a post drilled into my upper jaw, so I thought about using something along those lines for Steelbeak but on a more extreme scale. I’m actually really satisfied with how it turned out, overall ^.^

Cartier | Jeff Wittek
description: how your six month anniversary with jeff went.
requested?: yes; [anonymous “okay so i know you said you could attempt but i just wanted to confirm you will be writing a jeff imagine to cartier by bazzi??”]
disclaimer/author’s note: loosely based off of the song // also; i’m not a smut writer and i know that with this song, you’d have a pretty good smutty fic but! i tried something new for it because i’ve never written a smut and who knows? maybe i’ll come back to it once i know how to write smut?? (probably not) // I FEEL LIKE I HYPED THIS TOO MUCH AND IT PROBABLY SUCKS BUT ENJOY 💞
———
you and jeff had been dating for about nine months now.
sometimes, it felt hard. there’s no denying jeff was an attractive man. wherever he went, there would always be at least one girl vying for his attention. but jeff was always quick to remind them who’s he was. he was committed to your relationship.
jeff had his mind set on you. he found you beautiful. inside and out. you were rare. you loved him-all of him-for who he was. to him, you were ethereal and it surprised him that you never saw your beauty. it confused him that you never saw just how much attention you would get from men when you two went out. but he never complained. you were his. you knew that.
on your six month anniversary, jeff had bought you a cartier bracelet. you hated necklaces; the feeling they gave you went they got cold and then touched your bare chest made you uncomfortable and jeff knew that, resorting to the next best thing before a ring. besides, jeff took the screwdriver in the form of a necklace; always on his person.
you told him to give it back, he shut you up with a kiss and shook his head, “you’re my girl. others gotta know somehow.”
it took a while for you to accept the expensive gift. jeff consistently reminded you of your worth and how the cartier bracelet cost nothing in comparison to you: “you by my side makes me the richest man in the world, princess. this bracelet is nothin’.”
it was safe to say that jeff had quite an eventful night after those words left his mouth.
the room filled with heat and lust. clothes were strewn across the floor. marks were left scattered across each other’s bodies. sounds and words escaped mouths. your body was flush against jeff’s. nothing creating a barrier between you two, but the accessories from cartier.
ever since that night, jeff had requested you never take the bracelet off, not that you’d want to anyway. something about it made jeff proud. you were his. he was yours. and together you were one.
that night was a turning point in your relationship. everything from that point on had been more intimate. more nights under the sheet. more romantic. more touching. more craving. you and jeff had become something new.

the most important part of emancipation,   or so i’ve been told,   is getting a job.   petty theft is fun ‘n all,   but it ain’t a great way for a girl to financially support herself and her hyena baby.   plus,   stealing’s a part of my youthful tomfoolery not this whole adult schtick everyone’s obsessed with.   anyway,   i been takin’ myself real serious lately.   a couple-a badass business cards later,   everyone stopped thinkin’ o’ me as joker’s girl and started taken me real serious,   too!  it took a while,   but once everyone figured out that the last person you think is capable of getting a job done is the first person you should hire,   the real jobs started pourin’ in.   it’s a foolproof plan to keepin’ the feds off your case!   i would know.   AND,   it turns out,   for a decent sum o’ cash,   i really follow through!  listen,   the reason i’m tellin’ you all this is is so that you don’t judge me when i tell you i’m in detroit.   it’s business,   not leisure,   duh!   do you even have to ask?   don’t go tellin’ no one or nothin’,   but i’m here to get some super important software from a dorky little do gooder.   they say he’s some kinda tech genius,   but i say:   men’s egos are the worst.   either way,   a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do,   so if you hear me throwing the g word around it’s cos the only thing i’m willin’ to stroke around here to get the job done is a little ego.   and maybe some keypads.   and boards.   keyboards.   what could a tech wiz loves more than keystrokes,   right?
upon arrival at the infamous star labs,   harley realizes how difficult really good tech makes this job.   how could it be that the reason for her hire could also be the reason for her failure?   she kinda wishes she could use some tech of her own,   blow the lid right off this joint and have what she wants sitting there in the middle of all the rubble on a silver platter,   but unfortunately that is not the case.   it’s not cos the silver platter is too unrealistic or fancy,   but rather that violence would sooner have her ass in jail than back in gotham.   this guy?   this guy works for the bat.   rather than let the change of pace deter her,   she lets it redirect her to victor stone’s apartment.   “yeesh kabob,”   she says,   eyebrows furrowing,   expression grimacing.   based on her less than warm welcome she thinks she may as well still be at star labs.   it was such a different vibe than her own apartment that she couldn’t imagine living inside of something so...   sterile.   “hmm,”   harley hums to herself as she eyes the buttons and lights and gadgets and gizmos that all mean something to someone.   luckily,   they mean nothing to her,   but she knows one of those suckers gotta get the job done!   “beep,  boop,  bee-dee-boop,”   she sing songs as if she knows the note each button will make.  head tilts,   eyes  widen.   she’s a kid on christmas with a new toy!   light taps of controls she doesn’t understand quickly become fists against metal.   she bangs them with each syllable.   “come!”   bang.   “on!”   as if an answer from the gods above,  she’s in!   and if she thought it was christmas before...
Tumblr media
“hole.y. shit.”   is harley’s extra enunciated profanity.   “this kid’s a genius alright,”   she says to herself,   picking up random objects and putting them back lazily,   thinking tech-genius or not,   victor stone certainly knew how to make money.   a couple spins through the kitchen and then she’s opening closet doors,   pressing multiple buttons until a tv appears and turns on,   eyes glistening in the blue lit reflection.   windows go from night to day,   an impossibly secure location that even her ex-puddin’ would think is to die for.   a gasp.  “that! tub!”   she plucks some strawberries from the fridge,   drops her clothes to the floor and hops into the spa tub she’s sure has a million other features she’s not even using.   and to think   ---   this is work!
bleached strands are wet and dripping onto his sofa now as she lays towel clad in the living room.   she’s made herself what she considers,  “one fucking gourmet sandwich if you ask me,”   and is biting into it,   wide,   like she doesn’t know when her next meal is coming.   blame it on the odd hours.   the tv is so loud she almost doesn’t hear him   ---   until she does.   when she catches a glimpse of him,  harley practically jumps out of her skin.   the sandwich-free hand moves to her heart and then to cover her mouth as she swallows a bite,   quickly reprimanding him.   “jesus!   don’t you KNOCK?!   i coulda been indecent,”   she explains like it’s not only obvious,   but horrific.   without so much a second glance in vic’s direction harley is slamming his bedroom door behind her like she’s in some sorta lover’s quarrel.   once she’s thrown her clothes on and is about to head back out to her cave in his living room,   harley pauses,   hand loosely gripping the door handle.  she perks up,  a lightbulb going off above her head,  and she fucking knocks on the door from inside the bedroom.  when she walks back out,   she’s wearing a smug expression.   “see?”   she asks,  pleased with her demonstration.   she throws herself horizontally onto his couch and smiles big like she’s an old friend paying a pal a visit and he should be so happy to see her.   “hiya vic!”

Having a Moment
Summary: Holly spends some time with Buc during his watch on their team’s space pirate ship. Banter and accidental admittance of feelings ensue.
Author’s Note: Woo! Here it is! This one’s not in a fandom, just loosely based on me and my friends’ D&D shenanigans. Special thanks to @pinestripes and @pardonthefangirl for editing and giving super sweet feedback! You guys are amazing! Also asdfkgsdklg I tried with the cut, so sorry if it didn’t work!
Warnings: None, aside from some mild language. Fluff ahead! Enjoy!
He must be lonely up there… Holly thought to herself, eyes trained on the crow’s nest. Never did like the traditional ‘one person keeps watch’ thing. I bet he’s hungry, too.
She shoved the wrapped sandwich into her jacket pocket and began climbing the ropes. If Buc knew that she was coming, he didn’t say a word about it, only continuing to gaze out into the never-ending cosmos, something almost like melancholy present in his expression.
Upon reaching the top, Holly gave two firm knocks on the bottom of the nest. “Package delivery for the first mate.”
There was no yelp, no other noise of surprise, only an exasperated wood elf opening the trapdoor and gazing down at her. “What the ‘ell are you doing here? You know ‘s my turn to watch, right?”
“I know, but aren’t you hungry? Want company? It’s quiet up here.”
“I like it like that, I’ll ‘ave you know.”
That wasn’t going to do. Holly gave him her best set of sad puppy eyes, which, according to the entire crew, were impossible to resist.
He stared into them for a moment, attempting to hold onto his willpower, but ultimately sighed. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt if you stayed up ‘ere for a short while.”
“Yes!” She hoisted herself through the open trapdoor and kicked it shut. “I’ve got food for you.”
The first mate snorted and pulled her into a standing position. “Did Ginger make it? Thought he wasn’t a night owl.”
Reaching into her pocket, she gave a quick laugh. “I made it, silly. Ginger’s asleep and has been for hours.”
Upon seeing the sandwich come from her jacket, Buc narrowed his eyes at it in mock suspicion. “And ‘ow do I know you haven't poisoned it?”
“You wound me, good sir!” Holly held the food closer to her chest as if to protect it from him. “I would never do such a thing!”
“Right. Fine, then, ‘and it over.”
She complied and waited patiently while he opened the wrapping and took a bite, staring once again into the stars. “So?”
“What?” he replied, mouth still full, though his brow was furrowed in genuine confusion. “Am I supposed ta ask you how your day was or somethin’?”
“No, Buc, gods!” Was it getting hot up there, or was it just her? “The sandwich! How’s the sandwich?”
Buc swallowed, cheeks darkening. “Oh. ‘S good. Thanks, Songbird.”
“No problem.”
The crow’s nest was quiet again.
Holly’s gaze wandered from star to star, planet to planet, thinking about everything that she and her friends could find in the universe. She wondered if they’d ever find her home dimension, whether it be in ruins or not. Perhaps they would stumble across the universe with Repron, stop by to visit with Fayni or Thela. Or maybe they would meet another band of adventurers and give them aid in their quest.
“I see why you like it up here,” she found herself saying. “It’s quiet.”
From beside her, Buc gave an unsure hum, crumpling the sandwich wrapping and shoving it in his trousers pocket. “Quiet’s fine. Company’s good, too. But you know what would make it even better?”
She nonchalantly reached behind herself and pulled her lucky ukulele out from its pouch on her back, a grin forming on her face at the way his expression lit up. “Got any requests?”
“Just somethin’ peaceful.”
As she took a moment to make sure that it was still in tune, Holly noticed Buc turn and take a seat on the wood floor of the crow’s nest, then gesturing for her to do the same. She sat cross-legged there, her knee barely touching the side of his thigh, and began to play an old lullaby. The lyrics were lost in her memory still, but the tune was there as clear as day, so she hummed along with it. Holly definitely didn’t miss the warm content smile spread on her friend’s face at the music, nor did she miss the way his eyes drifted shut after several measures.
It made her happy to know that she could put a smile on his face.
“‘Ey, Holly?”
Twang. A sour note rang out when her hand jerked in shock. Holly stared in confusion and disbelief at Buc, who hadn’t even opened his eyes. Did he just call me by my name? After a moment, she tried to continue playing as if that wasn’t peculiar. “Uh, yeah?”
“Can I ask ya somethin’?”
“Shoot.”
“Are you an orphan?”
TWANG. Her song stopped completely, the last horrible note still hanging in the air. Holly turned to him sharply, eyes wide, suddenly hating the way he seemed so relaxed. “Excuse me? What makes you think you have a right to ask that?”
“Just askin’,” he drawled, raising one hand to scratch his stubble. “I don’t mean any harm by it, I swear. Jus’ had to figure out the reasons.”
“Reasons for what, Buc? Whatever it is, it must be damn good enough to warrant asking someone if their parents are dead!”
He cracked one eye open. “I ask ‘cause I’m an orphan, too, ya see. Felt somethin’ familiar ‘boutcha ever since I met ya. Almost like the gods themselves were tellin’ me somethin’. Crazy, huh?”
Holly blinked at him, irritation gone, and she held her ukulele just the slightest bit closer to her chest. “Yeah...crazy.”
The first mate pushed himself off of the crow’s nest wall, using it to shift his body closer to hers, close enough for him to wrap an arm around her shoulders and give a firm squeeze. “Listen, Holly. I really appreciate you comin’ up ‘ere, givin’ me somethin’ to eat, and playin’ your special music for me. Wouldn’t mind it bein’ a regular thing, actually.”
“Really?” Holly gazed up at him, looking for any sort of joke, only to find sincerity in his warm brown eyes. “You mean it?”
“‘Course I mean it. You’re really something, Holly Bea, and I like ‘aving you around. Even if you’re better than me at everythin’.”
The two of them shared a laugh, leaning on each other, gazes traveling upward to the stars.
Or at least, Holly’s did. After a moment she noticed that Buc’s eyes were still on her. “Can I help you?”
He opened his mouth to answer before his cheeks flushed a little and he looked upward to the surrounding space. “It’s nothin’.”
“No, what is it? You can tell me.”
Buc was silent for a moment, then turned back to her, looking almost embarrassed. “You don’t...happen to ‘ave someone you fancy back at your place, do you? That half-drow guy, maybe?”
“Leofyr?” She let out a sharp laugh. “Gods, no. One, he’s like my dorky older brother. Two, he’s married, star-brain. So your answer is no, I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Do ya want one?”
Holly froze, and the rest of the universe seemed to, as well. She once again searched his eyes for any sort of humor or teasing, but found only warmth and—dare she even think it—affection. “I—what?”
“I asked you if you wanted someone t’ fancy!” The longer he ranted, the darker his face grew, and the more his gaze flickered everywhere but her. “I dunno, Songbird, I thought we were ‘aving a moment! I thought we’ve been ‘aving moments for months! Maybe it was jus’ me seein’ things that weren’t there. But I get it; you’re a bard, flirt with everyone, stick with none—”
“Woah, hey!” She reached out and gently grabbed his shoulder, a light flattered pink dusting her own face and mingling with her freckles. “I don’t flirt with people, only when it’s necessary to get information or access to something. As for the ‘stick with none’ bit, well…” As she lowered her gaze to the floor in embarrassment, her hand dropped and joined its pair on her lap, anxiously feeling the wood of her uke. “I just hadn’t found the right person to stick with, that’s all.”
Buc finally watched her expression, his own brow furrowed. “What’s with th’ past tense? Hadn’t?”
Holly’s face practically burst into flames, and she clutched her ukulele, startled that he had picked up on her purposeful slip. “I—I mean that I’ve—that I’ve found someone to stick with!”
“Oh.” She didn’t miss his disappointed tone. “He’s a lucky fella, then. What’s he like then? Musical?”
“Buc.”
“Charmin’? Handsome?”
“Buc.”
“I bet he’s just as good as you at everythin’, if not more—”
“GODS, IT’S YOU, OKAY?”
Both of them froze, bright red. Their eyes finally met again, and when they did, Holly saw something else sparkling in his dark brown gaze. Adoration.
“‘S that so?” he asked, though not with nearly as much cockiness as usual. It was practically a whisper, almost in wonder.
She swallowed, nerves and adrenaline very much awake and active. “Of course. You’re...amazing.”
Buc gave a single breathless laugh. “Well, you’re extraordinary.”
“You’re incredible.”
“Gorgeous.”
“Dashing.”
“An angel.”
“Out of this...” Holly trailed off, face burning once again, though she hardly felt it this time.
As they fired compliments back and forth to each other, Buc and Holly had been subconsciously leaning in, closer and closer, until they were only inches apart. The bard could feel his breath tickle her lips, but she was too busy getting lost in his dark pools of infatuation. She hardly registered his warm hands moving her uke from her lap to the floor beside them.
“Go a’ead,” he murmured, gaze appearing to dart from her own to her lips. “What were you sayin’?”
The butterflies were back, filling her stomach as she struggled to speak. “O-out of this world.”
The only visible betrayal of his amusement at her pun was the way his eyes crinkled slightly at the edges. Nevertheless, he moved just a little closer, then asked, “Can I kiss you, Holly Bea?”
Her heart pounding, hands shaking, Holly answered. “Absolutely.”
And in an instant, Buc had closed the distance between them, his lips gently meshing with her own.
Holly had been told by friends what first kisses were like. Sweet. Magical. Mind-melting. Those didn’t begin to describe what she was feeling as she threw her arms around Buc’s neck and pulled herself closer. It was electrifying, to say the least. Every nerve in her body was tingling and sparking at the sensation, especially when Buc wrapped one arm around her waist and raised the other to run his hand through her hair. His lips were rough and tasted just a bit like ale, she noticed, but paid it no mind. He was gentle with her, though continued to give her the most pleasant experience she had ever had.
Finally out of breath, they parted and gazed at each other, forest green meeting dark brown. Their faces were flushed as they regained their breath, warm smiles growing on their lips.
And without a word, they were on each other again, heartbeats pounding in their ears as the second one lasted nearly twice as long as the first. They enjoyed the warmth that was shared, the emotions, the ever-growing love, known only by the two of them and the cosmos around them.
Holly agreed that she would continue to join Buc when it was his turn to watch.

Appreciation
mumarou pwp for my friend and partner in crime @anonymousedward!
Hard to believe it’s been another year! Happy Birthday!
Tumblr media
Mumen got new glasses fairly often. Glasses tended to be a casualty in the line of duty, so he made a point of always having at least one backup. More than one, in fact, but when he got down to only one spare set he knew it was time to reorder.
It had been a while, however, since he got a new prescription. They recommended every three years, but what with how exciting his life was now, Mumen hadn't gotten around to it when the reminder postcards started coming. By the time he made time it had been close to five.
He took the train home. Normally he'd ride, but he remembered the disorientation of new lenses, and didn't want to chance it. How would it look if Mumen Rider, the most well-known bicycle-based professional hero, was seen crashing into a stop sign?
The walk from the station to the apartment was full of the usual new appreciation of leaves on trees, puffs of clouds, patterns in fabric. Mumen kept his gawking to inanimate objects as best he could, until he reached his building and his eyes fell on a silhouette he knew well.
Garou was wearing shorts and a tank top cut so low in front and sides that it was more like suspenders. He was glistening with sweat and drinking from the water bottle Mumen bought him, the one with the extra-wide mouth. Mumen didn't like that type, it tended to spill out the corners as you drank, but for some reason Garou loved it.
Droplets of water dripped down Garou's chin and onto his chest, rolling down perfectly sculpted pectoral muscles. Mumen – suddenly thirsty – felt his tongue dart out and wet his lips.
“Hey,” Garou said. Mumen wasn't sure when he'd reached speaking range. He'd been so homed in on Garou's body that he barely noticed his face.
“Hi.”
“Just got back, I thought you were upstairs.” He nodded toward Justice, securely locked on the bike rack, but all Mumen noticed was the way the edges of his hair caught the light.
“I had to pick up my new glasses.”
Garou squinted at him. He was so cute when his face scrunched up like that. “They look the same.”
“I always get the same frames, but the lenses are new.”
Garou nodded and started to turn. The sweat made his arms and neck gleam in the sunlight, and not even his loose shorts could hide the swell of his backside.
Mumen bit his lip.
“What?” Garou asked, laughter in his voice. “Nothin' you ain't seen before.”
“Let's go inside.”
“Sure,” he said, grinning. The gleam in his eye was sharp as a knife.
Mumen followed him up the stairs, enjoying the view every step of the way. That look from Garou usually meant one of two things, and he really hoped it was the one that kept them indoors and unbloodied this time.
Garou stripped off his shirt as soon as they were through the door. “Gonna shower,” he said.
“Mm-hmm.”
Maybe he wanted Mumen to follow him. Mumen wasn't sure. But there was laundry to do, and lunch to prepare, and the steam of the shower fogged up Mumen's glasses anyway. As glorious as Garou's body was to touch, right now he wanted to see as well.
He busied himself with chores until he heard the water turn off, and wasn't surprised at all when the door opened almost immediately.
Garou, dripping and naked, stood in the doorway grinning. He pushed wet hair away from his forehead and cocked his hips.
“See something you like?”
“Every day,” Mumen admitted. “It'll be a little... distracting, until my eyes adjust.”
“I'll distract you all you want.”
Mumen felt his tongue dart out. “You're getting water on the floor.”
That sharp gleam was back. It had probably never left. “I should get dressed then.”
“If you must.”
His bare backside swayed as he walked to the closet. Mumen gritted his teeth, but he couldn't quite hold back his groan.
“Not gonna stop me?” Garou asked, sing-song.
“We both know I couldn't if I tried.”
“Only if I actually wanted to get dressed.”
Mumen crossed the floor in four long strides, and his hands were on Garou's damp hips before he could stop himself. His muscles tensed for just a moment as Mumen touched him, but then he reached up and braced his hands against the closet's frame. His skin was warm and soft from the shower. He smelled like the fruity soap he liked, but beneath that there was still just a whiff of sweat.
Mumen leaned forward and brushed his lips against the back of Garou's neck. He heard him let out a shaky exhale, trailed his hands upward until he could feel Garou's breath in his chest.
“And I thought I was a tease,” Garou murmured.
“I'm just appreciating the view,” Mumen said. He pressed his teeth, lightly, against Garou's shoulder.
“Is that what this is about? You wanna eat me with your eyes?”
“Right now? Yes.”
Garou sighed softly as Mumen released him and stepped back. With his arms up like that his back muscles were flexed, creating a tableau that was begging to be painted... or something else.
“D'you mind?” Mumen asked.
“Mm?”
He unzipped, slowly, allowing Garou to hear it. “If I appreciate you a little longer?”
Garou let out another slow breath, and ever-so-slightly arched his back. “I don't mind.”
Gods, he was beautiful. Not just his muscles, though those were very nice. The line of his jaw as he tilted his head. Those sharp golden eyes watching Mumen over his shoulder, darkening with lust. The curve of his lips as he smiled.
Mumen stroked himself, slowly, for now.
And then there was that ass. Sculpted. Tight. The swell of it could never be hidden no matter what Garou wore, and right now it was on full display. Garou had spread his legs a little, the better to pose for Mumen, and Mumen could see his balls hanging heavy between them. He was enjoying this too.
“You're gorgeous,” Mumen said, giving himself a squeeze. Oh, but he wanted this. He'd need lube to finish, but for now he couldn't bear to tear his eyes away.
“I know.” Garou smirked.
Mumen laughed, breathlessly. “Of course you do.”
His hand sped up, a little too fast to be comfortable. Mumen bit back a frustrated groan and let go.
“What's wrong?” There was a waver of uncertainty to Garou's voice.
“Nothing.” Mumen stepped forward and kissed his back, allowing himself to rub against Garou's backside for a moment. “Mn. I'll be right back. Don't move.”
“Not going anywhere,” Garou said. He rolled his shoulders and adjusted his grip on the closet frame, muscles rippling beneath his skin. A reminder, as always, that Mumen might be giving the orders but Garou was still completely in control.
The lube was kept in easy reach of the bed now, so it would have only taken a second to grab it and return, but Mumen took the opportunity to pop into the bathroom and peel off his clothes. The hungry way Garou looked at him when he returned was worth the moment of frustration. He craned his neck like he wanted to turn around, get a clear view, appreciate the sight.
Mumen moved up close behind him, dribbling lube down his lower back and letting it dribble between his ass cheeks. Garou's hand started to loosen its grip, so Mumen reached around and ran his fingers down Garou's stomach. He stopped just above the base of his dick, letting his fingertips almost touch it.
“Eyes front,” Mumen ordered.
“Hnn.”
He felt bad about it, and added, “You can watch me next time.”
“This's good,” Garou said. If his voice was slurring already he really was enjoying it.
Mumen moved slowly, letting his dick slide back and forth between Garou's cheeks. When Garou pressed back Mumen stepped just out of reach, ignoring the brief whining sound from Garou's throat. He saw Garou turn his head again, and stroked himself with lube-slick fingers for a second before repeating, “Eyes front.”
Garou obeyed. There was a flush to his cheeks, and his breathing was speeding up.
“That's right,” Mumen murmured. Seeing Garou so aroused was only adding fuel to his fire.
He stayed close, close enough that the tip of his dick brushed Garou's ass now and then as his hips jerked along with his hand. Garou's head tipped back, sending a last couple drops of water falling from his hair, and Mumen could just see his pale eyelashes laying on his cheeks.
“Like that,” Mumen said, under his breath. “Just like that. You're so-”
He barely had enough warning to aim for Garou's back. His orgasm hit hard enough to lose his balance, and Mumen gripped Garou's shoulder as he stroked himself through the aftershocks.
It was worth it. It was definitely worth it to see this. Garou, trembling with lust and dripping with Mumen's fluids. This was a sight that would keep Mumen warm until the end of his days.
“Gorgeous,” Mumen said. Garou just groaned. “I know, I know, I've got you.”
Keeping away from his own mess as much as he could, Mumen re-lubed his hands and began to attend to Garou's needs. He was so overstimulated that he flinched away from Mumen's touch at first, but soon relaxed into it, the tell-tale cracking of wood telling Mumen that he was going to have to make this quick.
One hand stroked Garou's length while the other caressed his balls. Not even the former Hero Hunter was strong enough to resist a double assault like this. With a choked cry Garou came on the door of the closet, wrenching the edge off the frame as he did. His body writhed in Mumen's arms, pressing his face against the wood, until he was left slumped over and boneless.
Mumen trailed kisses across his shoulders as he waited for Garou to catch his breath. Once he had his feet under him, Mumen left his mouth against Garou's skin and asked, “You okay?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“You liked that.” It wasn't a question.
“Maybe a little,” Garou said. He actually sounded sheepish.
Mumen tilted his head so Garou could feel him smiling. “You already know you're hot shit, but I suppose it's nice to know others appreciate it too.”
“Something like that.”
Mumen wrapped his arms around Garou's waist. They were both going to need to shower now, there was no getting around it.
“Next time, I want to do your front.”
As Garou turned, the sharp gleam was back in his eyes. “I actually have some thoughts on that.”

Work from home
Tumblr media
Requested by @Dean79
So my first request fill and my first Jensen x Reader fanfic hope you like it
Summary: Reader sends nudes and sexy messages to her husband while he tries to film a scene with Jared. Distracted Jensen messes up the scene over and over again. Planning a payback he drives home… Based on the song ‘work from home’ by Fifth Harmony.
Pairing: Jensen x Reader, Misha, Jared, Richard Speight jr.
Warnings: sexting, language, masturbation (barely), smut, unprotected sex (don’t do this at home)
For my fanfic Jensen is married to the reader.
Tumblr media
Filming the scene Jensen feels his phone vibrating. Trying to act normal he ignores the urge to check the message. Finally Jared and Misha have their dialog and he’s able to check his phone. Looking at the display his eyes widen.
His wife sent him a picture wearing only one of his flannels. Bending over she shows him her lace covered ass.
Swallowing hard he doesn’t hear Jared calling his name. “Hey Jay, you okay?” Jared asks.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. Great work Jar!”
Right when he wants to stuff the phone back into his pocket the next picture arrives. This time she has opened the buttons of the flannel, showing him her biggest smile and her cleavage.
‘Fuck’. He mutters trying to concentrate. The next scene is his and Jared’s he can’t mess up.
Taking a deep breathe he tries to take his eyes of the phone.
I ain't worried 'bout nothin' I ain't wearin' na nada I'm sittin' pretty, impatient, but I know you gotta Put in them hours, I'mma make it hotter I'm sending pic after picture, I'mma get you fired
But then the next message arrives…no picture this time just a short note.
“If you were here Jay you could touch me like I do it right now.”
And the next picture arrives…the flannel is gone and she has her tiny hand into her lace panties. Biting her lip she seems to stare at him.
‘Goddamn woman.’ Jensen mutters.
“Jay you’re still with us?” Jared asks laughing.
“Yeah, just go distracted…kinda.” Stuffing his phone back into his pocket he tries so hard to concentrate - easier said than done. Now he can see her perfect body in front of him. He can almost smell her perfume and taste her lips.
“Jay! Your turn! You need to change!” Richard calls for Jensen.
Changing his outfit for the next scene Jensen puts the phone on the table in his trailer. And it vibrates again. Looking or leaving…looking or leaving…
Checking his phone he almost growls.
I know you're always on the night shift But I can't stand these nights alone And I don't need no explanation 'Cause baby, you're the boss at home
The next picture shows…well everything. Naked she lies onto the bed. Legs spread she bites one finger. Under the picture is a message.
“Wish you were here boss. You work so much Baby, I miss you. It’s so long since I felt you inside of me.”
‘She really tries to kill me!’ Jensen mutters. His hands are shaking and he knows another picture and he’s done for.
Leaving the trailer he takes the phone with him. He can’t risk someone steals the phone containing nudes of his wife.
Back on set he tries to calm down, tries to ignore the images of his naked wife on his bed. The first lines work fine until his phone vibrates again.
Distracted he messes up the lines and they have to do the scene again…and again…and fuck it again.
“Break!” Richard calls out.
“Are you really okay dude?” Jared asks worried. He never saw his best friend messing up the lines that often.
“Yeah, just a bad day I guess.” Jensen lies.
Checking his phone he gets hard in an instant. Now she bites her lower lip and her fingers are knuckles deep into her wet pussy.
“Come home now!” Is the short message.
You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, work, work, work But you gotta put in work, work, work, work, work, work, work You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, work, work, work Let my body do the work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work We can work from home, oh, oh, oh oh We can work from home, oh, oh, oh oh
‘Fucking shit!’ Jensen mutters while his best friend looks at him with surprise.
“Okay, Jay what’s wrong?”
“Y/N she…shit she’s sending me nudes and messages. I can’t concentrate.”
Laughing Jared looks at his friend. “Go home Jay, have fun with your wife and we film the scenes you’re not in first.”
“But what will Richard say?”
“Leave him to me. I’ll tell him there’s an emergency with your wife…well I mean that’s an emergency – right?”
“Shit, yeah. Thanks man. I swear I’m more than focussed tomorrow.” Jensen says already starting to walk toward his car.
Opening the bedroom door he finds you lying on the bed. Wearing the flannel again you sleep peacefully.
Stripping his clothes off he starts sliding his hands over your legs. Flinching at the touch you open your eyes. Starring into emerald orbs.
“You are a bad girl! I had to stop working!”
“Jay, I was just missing you.”
“Jared was wondering why I messed up the lines again and again! You really distracted me.”
Humming you look up at your butt-naked husband. “So how can I make it up to you then?”
Let's put it into motion I'ma give you a promotion I'll make it feel like a vacay, turn the bed into an ocean We don't need nobody, I just need your body Nothin' but sheets in between us, ain't no getting off early
Smirking he starts kissing your lips spreading your legs you let him move between. His already hard cock nudges against your entrance while he starts nipping and sucking at your pulse point.
“Jay, I’ve missed you so much. I’m sorry for distracting you. But I’m not sorry I made you come home.”
Humming he sucks one nipple into his hot mouth while rolling the other with his fingers. Moaning you move your hands over his arms, drawing patterns.
“Such a bad girl I have.” Licking at your nipples he drives you insane.
Chuckling he looks down at you in his arms while you whimper at his touch. Sliding his fingers through your folds he knows there’s no need for any foreplay.
Moving you legs around his waits he gently pushes home. Arching your back you smile at your husband.
“Hmmm… Jay, so good. Much better than my tiny little fingers.”
“I hope so.” He states starting to move.
Pressing your chest against his you hold tight onto his back. Moving in sync you meet his thrusts.
“Shit, Baby, you’ve got not clue how hard it was for me to see those pictures, not able to touch you. Going to make you feel me for days so you won’t miss me so much.”
Girl, go to work for me Can you make it clap, no hands for me? Take it to the ground, pick it up for me Look back at it all over me Put in work like my timesheet She ride it like a '63 I'ma buy her no Celine Let her ride in a foreign with me Oh, she the bae, I'm her boo And she down to break the rules Ride or die, she gon' go I'm gon' judge, she finesse I pipe up, she take that Putting overtime on your body
Picking up the pace he starts fucking you faster and harder. Digging your nails deep into his muscles you meet his thrusts. Panting you enjoy every movement of his huge cock in your tight entrance.
Jensen can feel your walls start to flutter around his cock and moves his thumb down to your clit to rub it. Screaming his name you explode around his member.
Still moving deep inside of you he rides your high out, giving you even more pleasure. Groaning he finally finds his own release, spilling his cum into your pussy he kisses you roughly.
Gently pulling out of you he falls onto the bed next to you. Lying down onto his chest you sigh.
I'm sending pic after picture, I'mma get you fired
“Should send you nudes more often.”
“No or I’ll loose my job.”
“Nah, they need Dean Winchester in the world, ya know.”
“Uh-huh…and what about me?”
“Jense, you’re all mine.”
“No more nudes Baby, even if you miss me.” Jensen orders.
“You can just take me with you. Waiting in your trailer I don’t need to send you nudes. I could be nude…”
