Ok phandom peeps, I need to get something off my chest. I cannot stop thinking about it, it’s so funny that this happened to me!

So I’ve been casually perusing the DP fandom for a while, right? Like for several years at least! What can I say? I like art! So at various points I had talked to my aunt about some stuff related, like fun stuff about the phandom and the existence of ghost king aus and stuff. Recently though, I found a fanfic that I spent AN ENTIRE DAY reading and doing nothing else! Like I stayed up late the night before, woke up to immediately read more! I don’t normally read fanfics, let alone any long form story, cuz my attention span is shit and has been shit basically all my life! So in the evening when I was a good chunk of the way through the fic, I talked to my aunt about it! Cuz it’s funny! I found a lot of things in it very amusing and wanted to share!

And then she asked for a link…

The next thing I know, within a few months, probably 3 months later at most, my aunt starts telling me about phandom lore I had never even heard of before! She literally made an ao3 account!!! Guys I am floored! I’ve been idly watching from the shadows for so long, and then I accidentally get my aunt into the phandom and she starts telling me about a red duck candle that’s apparently been integral DPxDC lore for YEARS!

How would your write a zukka proposal(with sokka proposing and making zuko a betrothal necklace?

I am actually not a huge fan of betrothal necklaces between zukka. Idk, the tradition seems more of a NWT thing and I like that they have their own way of life separate from the SWT and their traditions.

Also,,, knowing the betrothal necklace that belonged to Kya originally belonged to Kana and is now a family heirloom from their deceased mom… I just don’t see the romantic aspect for Sokka or Katara. Idk I think the necklace had a different meaning for them and a lot of mixed sentiments so yeah it’s just not something I headcanon sorry anon :)

I wish we lived in a world where I didn’t have to factor in things like “will this actually make enough money to pay off its own degree and live comfortably in this increasingly expensive world” when making my career choices because I think I would’ve really enjoyed devoting my life to studying entomology or icthyology or something instead of picking a practical but kinda bland field of engineering

No bc fuck tim but it really really bothers me how people ignore his growth like he used to be an asshole and I’ll give tim Stans one thing: now he’s so so so stale but what I disagree with is that this staleness is bc nobody likes him like it’s in fact the exact opposite where everyone likes him so much they dont want to do anything. Even when it’s him surface level challenging Bruce it’s when everyone else is doing it too; but he’s still the backbone of the fam! Etc. and it’s so irritating bc him gaining more compassion and empathy even for people he doesn’t fw is so fun to watch and that’s why the captain boomerang thing was so out of character! (Not in a from the author way but in a tim wouldn’t do that and he and Bruce both knew it which is why it went down like it did. Same way dick killing joker was ooc; not in fanon sense but in a he would hate himself forever for this sense) and speaking of that it’s such an interesting mirror to Bruce who genuinely believes that everyone can grow vs Tim’s it doesn’t matter if they grow it’s not my decision to make like it’s the same but it’s not AND WITH CASS’ IT DOESNT MATTER IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO GROW I WONT DO IT! like ugh. And anyways even when people acknowledge it they boil it down to “Janet and Jack taught him that the capitalist pigs that they are” like no. This is who tim was. Tim was the kind of guy who’d blame a dead kid for dying. That’s ok. Also Janet and Jack? Please reread anything involving them that’s not a fic like Jack had anger issues and they were both aloof at worst like relax.

Yknow I think a common mischaracterisation of Harumi is literally that people think Garmadon actually adopted her and acted like a father figure to her. If anything it was more like the other way round.

Garmadon was the one guided by Harumi, he wasn’t really independent and she overall held the power until partway through the season.

I wrote an outline a month ago about what I think happened w brnine and jesset 5 years ago and never posted it , putting it here under the cut bc of mortifying ordeal etc

so: not sure if this is pre or post funeral/mourning, depends on when broun made up with jesset. I cannot find in the transcripts when brnine was suddenly cool with him again but I do remember that being on screen and kinda suspicious. Anyways:

Broun had been locked up in their room and not interacting with anyone for days, but one night jesset spots them about to leave for town.

He stops them and asks where they’re going. They say “None of your business.” and tries to leave but jesset is in the way. “Move.”

“Look, you can go just… We’re all worried about you. I don’t want to lose… We can’t afford to lose another person. Let me come with you.”

Broun sighs, resigned. They don’t forgive Jesset necessarily but they know he doesn’t deserve to be the target of their ire either. Blowing up at him before was…embarrassing.

“Fine. Whatever. I won’t stop you from tagging along.”

They go to some dive bar (I don’t remember icebreaker logistics but I assume they can get in land and go places).

They’re both seated at the bar and it’s very awkward. Broun asks for some strong drink and Jesset asks for the same. Broun rolls their eyes.

Drinks arrive. They down it in one shot and asks for another. Jesset tries to do the same but chokes on it immediately and starts coughing, making a small scene. Bartender is like “hey watch your friend there”

Broun pats his back and laughs for the first time and tension is alleviated a bit. Broun takes his drink and orders jesset something milder.

They’re drinking and talking about meaningless things for a while. Broun seems to never bring up Valence, even in stories where jesset know they were there, generally keeping it vague. He does not want to step on any toes at this point so he follows suit and avoids mentioning them also.

Eventually, the bartender cuts Broun off and tells them to go home. Jesset is tipsy too but slightly more stable than Broun so he offers his shoulder to them and they don’t refuse, clinging to him as they stumble back to base.

They get to Broun’s quarters, Broun fumbles trying to unlock the door and once they finally manage, Jesset helps get them to their bed

He says let me get you some water but they don’t let go of his arms, says “wait”, he ends up seated on the bed next to them

He’s looking at their face, they looked flushed and they’re staring back intently, getting closer, and he’s getting closer too, pulled in by Something (the effect)

They kiss, lightly at first, pausing for a moment with their foreheads together, and they start again, much hungrier this time. They’re fully making out now, hands roaming aimlessly, broun climbing onto jesset’s lap. After some moments Jesset starts feeling some droplets on his face, he opens his eyes and see that Broun is crying.

He stops the kissing and asks if they’re okay. They wipe their tears with their sleeve and say yeah just keep going somethings just in my eye. But he makes them stop, says “We don’t have to do this.”

They do back down, and they’re quietly sitting next to each other for a moment.

Finally, he breaks the silence with “Do you want to talk about Valence? I want to talk about Valence.”

”We’ve talked plenty about them.”

”Then can I talk about them.”

Broun sighs but is silent and lets him continue. They’ve both slumped to the floor in front of the bed now and jesset tells a story about Valence during all the election stuff that Broun never heard about. Broun then finally talks about Valence a bit. Eventually at like 5 am, they fall asleep on jesset’s shoulder. He helps them into bed and leaves.

They’re like fine now after this but have Not spoken about that night since and it’s been 5 years. This might be the last time Brnine talked about Valence with someone also.

There’s a slight awkwardness for a bit right after but eventually there’s a fondness on both sides…. No time to actually do anything about it tho. Yet(?)

guys thank you so much for sticking around with me despite my lack of content… ive missed writing and talking to you all and responding to reviews so much. going to start working my way through responding to the reviews on the weekend and answering asks. ive finally started writing again the past two weeks, and today is the first day ive felt that excitement that i used to feel while writing. makes me realize how much i love this community. thank you for being here.

i regret to inform you all that i just did ~30 minutes of basic beginner yoga and it did, in fact, help shut up the hobgoblin that lurks in my brain.

My brain is doing some NOT VERY GREAT things rn, so I am EXTERNALIZING THE FEELINGS ONTO FICTIONAL MEN because that’s a healthier coping mechanism than the other options. (cw for suicidal ideation)

Jay’s been to the college library twice. Once because it was part of orientation, and once on his own in an attempt to do homework. He got one chapter into his assigned reading before a group of enthusiastic tennis juniors swept through and picked up anyone they recognized, and he hasn’t been back since. There’d been too many people around to focus on homework anyway. 

“I’m not doing homework.” 

Carlos thwacks his head. “I didn’t say we were doing homework, I said we’re going to the library. I know you don’t focus around other people.” 

Jay rolls onto his back, as far away as he can get in the confines of a twin bed. 

It’s not very far. 

“I don’t focus….anywhere.” 

Carlos winds a hand into his shirt to pull him back.

“Like I said, I know this game. You don’t focus anywhere because your brain thinks you’d be better off dead, and it won’t listen to anything that’s not getting it to that goal. You’re not going to shout over it, so you’re got to sneak around it.”

Woke up and remembered I don’t have to fight antis anymore and prove that I have media literacy because the show confirmed everything Rinas knew to be true AND they kissed.
