Summary: a small fluffy fic consisting of Megumi losing his composure at your audacious habit.

Pair: Megumi x f!reader

A/N: truth be told, i don't know what i'm doing. i'm probably doing a genshin one after this but oh well.

For some unpalatable reason, Megumi often finds himself losing his composure around you. You just had this.. inconvenient (for his dignity) yet small knack of incredulity to let your gaze cling to him in such a lovesick manner. Even before the two of you began dating, you had this peculiar tendency to blatantly stare at him with such a thoughtful yet blank look.

He doesn't mind it, of course. But in unwanted situations where the both of you are out in the open or even more so when you're out with his companions, he truly wishes you'd stop your knack of staring so overtly!

One instance of said 'unwanted situations' was when a hangout with his friends took place in some abandoned school. Nobara had most likely noticed how you're staring at him so intently as he elaborates the functions of some cursed technique whereas Yuji is absorbing every bits of information with such enthusiasm.

Fortunately, you were seated backwards in a seat beside him as two of his peers were in front of him so atleast that saves some of his dignity as he discreetly remains oblivious of your knack of audacity once again. Unfortunately for you however, frustration begins to bubble up in your temple when his gaze is permanently stuck to the peers in front of him.

So in subtle ways you hope to regain his attention, you lean further onto the desk placed just right before you, staring at him with a sly eyesmile adoring your features. He doesn't notice. As he finishes elaborating at last, he shoots a slight glance but more of a glare as a warning in your slouched figure..

...was his plan until you had him freezing when he notices your foxy gaze with the slightest of smiles. You quirk a brow at his stilled figure, a widened grin begininng to tug at your lips as the two of his peers cast a knowing glance to each other.

A distinct yet subtle red rushes to the tip of his ears and onto his cheeks as he abruptly whips his head to the other direction, posture straightening up. Deeming his flushed state satisfactory, an impish chortle rumbles out of your chest as you clamp your hand over your mouth to stifle atleast some of it.

"Fushiguro, you're as bright as a tomato!"

"Shut—"

"You're so whipped for [Name]!" Nobara manages to let out in between gasps, hand clutching hard onto the desk.

The three of you slip into a cheery air of laughter and incessant teasing directed to your even more flushed partner, occasionally defending himself yet hiding himself even more. As you steer your attention to him once more, he catches your eyes and blinks. You can feel a smile growing on your lips until his composure explodes into a fit of reddened cheeks adorning his features and he gently shoves a palm onto your face, opting to end your schemes in embarrassing him even further.

...which doesn't work, and now it's Yuji letting out a boisterous cackle when the sea urchin boy pauses at your flabbergasted expression. And Nobara, as wicked as she is, reaches for her phone and opens the camera, angling you and her peer's bewildered state in a perfect shot, already planning to send it to their insufferable teacher.

Yep, he is definitely provoking his free cuddles with you for today if you prolong this.

Honestly, I think from the moment that Percy found out that not every demigod has a loving mortal parent they can depend on, when they already can't depend on the gods, and that Annabeth specifically, hasn't had anyone take care of her like that since she was 7, he decided he would be the one to.

They take care of each other up to that point, but I think that's when he starts noticing how much she takes care of them. She already knew if she didn't no one else will. She protects them against humans, she stands with them against monsters, she always brings up the rear of the group when they're running, and she is always the first one to make a move when they're fighting. She does it because no one is going to protect her if she doesn't do it herself. No one is going to protect Grover and Percy if she isn't.

In the arch, he pretty much tells her he would fight the gods for her, and then he goes on to do just that.

Athena, the one person who was supposed to protect her willingly pushes monsters her way, she lets Echidna and the chimera into a place that was supposed to be safe. Her decision is that Annabeth should be punished, and say what you want, but I think she knew that Annabeth would think through every scenario and know that someone had to stay and hold them back. And I think she knew that Annabeth would be the one to stay. Because that's the way she raised her, knowing that no one cared whether she lived or died. And I think that's the cruellest part.

Which is why Percy's sacrifice means so much more. He not only made the decision to trade his life for hers and fight the monster so she and Grover could escape, but he also made the conscious choice to push back against Athena's wishes. He fought a goddess for her, Athena said "Annabeth will die for her impertinence" and Percy said "Not today, not ever"
