Player has the Fierce Deity Mask
So uh this is an old writing I found in my docs and I decided to post it since I probably won't continue this. I did this for fun and for a discord server I'm in, but if you decide to read this then thanks!
Characters: Fierce Deity
Short Summary: What if player interacted with the Fierce Deity Mask first and refuses to give it back.
Waking up in the middle of the woods with a weird ass mask in their hands was definitely not on [Name]'s list of being woken up to, especially since there was a bunch of screeching noises around them.
When finally coming to the realization that they are in fact not home they quickly sat up and backed away from these weird pig monsters, although they look oddly familiar. That's when they noticed a mask that fell onto their lap, and lifted it up to see it properly. It's a perfect replica of the Fierce Deity mask from Majora's Mask, a game they used to play a lot, when they had the time.
Their eyes widened before looking back at the monsters and at which they realized that they are in fact, bokoblins from the Breath of the Wild game version, but the strangest thing is that they refused to get any closer to them. The bokoblins were screaming and clawing at them as if trying to reach them, but they couldn't, one even went as far as to throw a rock at them. It was able to hit them in the arm.
"Well? Are you not going to deal with them?" Spoke a voice from nearby, it sounded gruff as if it hadn't spoken in a while.
"What in the fuck? God???"
They replied as they looked up in the sky with confusion on their face; the mask still in their hands. A chuckle was heard before the voice spoke again, "My my, tell me little one, are you able to hear me?"
[Name] looked down at the Fierce Deity mask and held it close to their face examining it, "Wait a damn minute, are you talking? Or am I hearing voices again."
A laugh was heard which caused them to turn red from embarrassment, "You are quite amusing, little one."
A breathy laugh came from [Name], "I will take that as a compliment, but uh I don't actually have anything to get rid of those nasty ass pigs since I deadass just woke up here with just you." It seems that the bokoblins could understand them since two more rocks were thrown at them, as they let out a scream before dodging them.
It was silent for a moment before the mask spoke again, "I will make a deal with you, I will lend you my power to deal with those pests as I said before."
[Name] held the mask closer to them staring for a moment before responding, "I swear, if I die because of a mask I'm going to cry."
They got up from the ground before looking back down at the mask. They aren't sure if they took any strong drugs before going to bed, or if this was one hella vivid dream they're having. Reluctantly they placed it onto their face, and they stood there for a moment before their vision turned white, but they could've sworn just before they blacked out they heard it speak again.
"Yes, I truly do hope you'll live after this, little one."
[Name] woke up again abruptly, they were breathing heavily as if they've been running for a while, before looking around at their surroundings; in the place where the bokoblins once were, there are now piles of random items those monsters dropped and disappearing purple smoke. In their [dominant hand] holds the Fierce Deity mask in all its glory as they use their other hand to drag it across their face while exhaling deeply to calm their breathing. "Holy shit, I don't remember what the fuck happened once I put it one, but damn am I tired."
"It appears that you survived, congratulations, dear, " the mask spoke and it sounded like it was in fact happy and surprised that they lived.
[Name] stared at it with a smile on their face, "Keep complimenting me and I just might get attached to you, but uh after that don't you think it's fair that we introduce each other?"
"Hmmm… yes, I do believe so. I am the Fierce Deity, I come from the land of Termina, and, currently, I take the form of the mask you hold in your hand."
That earned a huge grin from them, "Nice to meet you, Fierce Deity, I'm [Name] and I am not from here, actually…how did I get here?" They tried to remember the events that happened before being in the forest.
The images of a dark shadow lingering in the corner of their room, and red eyes appearing from it before lunging at them. A weird colored thing also showed up and then them and the weird red eyed shadow falling into it.
Fierce Deity spoke up, "I see, so it was that damn shadow creature who brought you here. I believe it is beneficial if I stay with you, so you will not perish. I also may be able to lead you to a group of adventurers; who are also in the same difficult situation as you." He said soothingly since he knew that you probably won't enjoy being with a person who would antagonize you in a world you are not familiar with.
"Yeah? I appreciate that very much, Fierce Deity. Well I agree to those terms, I'll gladly have you with me as we find those guys you-" they were cut off by the sounds of multiple footsteps being rushed towards them. A chuckle could be heard from him, "It appears we haven't even needed to search for them at all. They have found you."
It seems that he was right as a tall man rushed forward, and stared them down with one eye, a couple of other guys also behind him staring at them as they caught their breaths.
The oldest and tallest one of the group stepped closer towards you with one of his hands reaching out, "I am sorry for asking this suddenly, but may I please have that mask back?"
[Name] stared at the group in shock as they took a step back and held the Fierce Deity closer to them, "Fuck no, he's mine-"

Linktober Shadow Day 8
Majora('s Mask)
*throws bouquet of roses* For the Time lovers.
Also my bias is probably coming through really strongly right now, but I'm not well rested enough to care plus I've been playing Majora's Mask a lot again this month, it's as important to me as Twilight Princess so this is kind of my love letter to it and Time and my excuse to explore the concept of Majora and the Fierce Deity and divinity in LoZ, though that's an essay for another day lol (/j)
As always can be read as romantic or platonic depending on your preferences, Reader is gender neutral and this is definitely self indulgent so it can be read in or outside of an LU context, most of the references to the LU names are for simplicity and to give a rough idea of why Reader has some stuff they do. Makes it easier to clarify lol, though as I've been hit by yet another storm the Linktober prompt will be for tomorrow, I'm basically picking a god and praying this actually posts X_X
TW(?):
Don't think there's any warnings besides MJM's typical body horror really, and very graphic descriptions and Majora in general.
Even after so, so long, so much so it feels like a lifetime ago, Termina still stuck with you and Time.
The thing about being in a timeloop that went on for who knows how long and whose failure to reset it would be total destruction to so many good different people, is that you quickly learn some habits to try and maximize as many successes as possible, how Time (Mask, then, after the living nightmare of Termina, during the War of Ages, still Link though) quickly learned the location of each enemy he could, how you learned to call out the best way to quickly assess and take down an enemy as quickly as possible, how you both learned to watch each other’s backs and to care for the people and Termina to the point Link went from just a warrior to a healer, granted the trust of holding the crystalization of the hopes and dreams of the people of Termina that, even if they couldn’t remember it, wanted the cycle to end, wanted to hunt the threat to reality itself and purge it from the world. To bite down onto it’s neck and feel the thrill and glee and cutting down such an opponent.
Most importantly, after bleeding, crying, sweating and toiling against the unrelenting flow of time and insanity all brought upon by a lonely child being left alone and manipulated to commit heinous acts as ‘pranks’. It taught you and Time the importance of contingency plans, and about always, always being prepared for any and all situations, unlikely as they could be. Of taking through note of even the smallest detail that caught your eyes at a glance.
‘To defeat an abomination, you need one of two things: A deity, or a monster.’, you think cynically to yourself, stepping over Time’s fallen form as Warriors bolted over with blizzard forged fury in his cold, calculated movements to defend him in your stead as you called Hyrule over, the young man quickly starting to heal your Hero as you glare down at the disgusting stain on reality engaging Twilight and Wild all at once, gleeful at having watched the person you adored the most fall, bringing out the ultimate contingency from your cloak, you hadn’t even told him about it, because you prayed you’d never need to resort to this, ‘… Forgive me, Link. The first option isn’t doable here.’
Time was your everything, you knew how his story ended, with so much grief until he finally met Twilight again. You tried, you really did, to not allow yourself to love him but it was impossible because he was Link, the man who longed for adventure ever since he was young, embodying the freedom of the forest of life and death that made up the whole of Faron Woods and the Lost Woods and as steady as it’s moors, voice quiet and calm like a stream in the woods and with and with a smile to rival the warm sun and so, so heartbreakingly kind. Who protected and saved and healed people while slowly healing his own soul and who attempted to soothe his descendant’s pain the second he could even from beyond the grave.
And you’d be darned if you allowed anything to take him from you or the boys before his time without a fight. You couldn’t care less if he would eventually die as he was destined to in every timeline, it didn’t matter if it was futile, because he mattered, you loved him, and you’d keep him safe and happy for as long as you could.
It didn’t matter if one day tragedy will catch up to him, it mattered that he was loved while alive.
Even if you had to step on fire to make sure of it.
“Twilight, Wild. Step away.”, the edges of the spikes of the purple and crimson mask that haunted your nightmares as much as it did Time’s, it leered at you with it’s arsenic and pus eyes, picking apart at your weaknesses as it’s spikes dug into your hand as you tightened your grip to keep if from shaking. Tone falsely confident as you called to the Hero of Twilight and Wild to retreat.
(‘To defeat an abomination, you need a deity or a monster.’
The definition is awfully interchangeable, if you look at it.
You had found it, abandoned and in a dungeon Wind’s Era, not quite awake, but not asleep either. The eldritch hunger almost chocking you with it’s voracity, the darkness assessing, stalking, prowling and starving, it prodded at you but didn’t dig yet. It knew how to play the long game in it’s quest to stop feeling empty.
Funny thing is, so did you. You were a lot harder to break than the Skull Kid, would not break.
Majora wanted to cease, like how it had ceased before the Terminan Tribe ripped it from it’s slumber, taught it hunger, taught it cruelty, taught it how to manipulate and take amusement in consuming the wishes of mortals and their very souls only to never be satisfied. Had fueled it with wrath from being ripped from a lovely, endless dream of beautiful songs and a kind soul. To be torn from it’s fantasy and then left to rot.
You offered to grant it a proper rest. And so a deal was struck. Your one contingency if the situation was truly dire, in case you couldn’t get the Fierce Deity Mask instead -because you knew how Link was, he’d burn himself out until there was naught but ash. You refused to let it ever come to that, after his excruciating screams of pain had clawed an aching, hurtful place into your very soul-, and Majora was starving and desperate, a dangerous combination for any being but something you could use.
So be it, if to protect divinity you needed to become a monstrosity, a monster was what you’d be.
You’d keep him safe. And you knew that if the Fierce Deity put him down once, he could do it again in case you slipped. Between him and Sky you weren’t afraid at all of the risk.
Even if Time never forgave you for taking it.)
You smile bitterly, tearing up in spite of yourself as you see the second Time spots you and the cursed artifact in hand, eye wide, voice ripping from his throat in desperation, “I’m quite selfish, I’m sorry.”
His haunted expression cuts you deeper than any knife, as you knew it was an image that featured in many of your nightmares and his own. But you’re insatiable for his happiness, so you take the plunge.
“NO NO NO NO DON’T-“
You put on the mask, and you scream.
It’s like stepping on fire, a twisted, desperate tune, a note of discord, a belt of harmony and fury and most importantly, the mighty need to consume the one who had tried to take the one you loved away from you.
Defy death, defy entropy, defy chaos, defy flame and voracity.
You cling to your self control with a snarl, howling in defiance. Sinking your nails into the abyss’ throat and biting, tearing, holding, tasting rot and withered flowers and the writhing of shadows and the blood of distorted gluttonousdivinity on your tongue with savagery equal to the way the demon sinks it's spikes onto you. Chew on it’s tender, rotting flesh, quaff down the lukewarm pus of it’s heart and the rust of blood as it bites off your skin, stripping your mind into chunks as it nests into your ribs like the spikes of wild, dead roses when it finds your mind tougher to break and you BURN YOU ARE LIFE YOU ARE CHAOS AND YOU ARE DROWNING AND YOU ARE FLAME-
You move, and Majora’s laugh sounds like a scream and a song as reality howls.
Your bones, sinew, muscles, nerves, veins and teeth are reformed, the being pounces, dancing, swerving, whipping, cleaving, ripping and feeding into the monsters with putrid, revolting gusto. Whenever it’s attention even tries to waver towards the Heroes you sink your hold in harder, stubborn, you’re sure there’s blood dripping from your mouth beneath the mask, your eyes, your ears, as it reaches a crescendo of glee and pain. A human body isn’t meant to hold so much divinity at once, much less as wretched and horrific as Majora’s, but you don’t care, can’t care, when you’re holding onto yourself like a vice, refusing to give it even a single inch.
It doesn’t kill Dark Link, the bastard (the one who’d hurt Time, the one who would have finished him off if not for you and Warriors). But the screech the Shadow releases as it gets ripped to shreds and the ripple of it’s retreating form is enough to make you partially agree with Majora’s vicious, amused glee that it was satisfying. Even if the feeling of you allowing it to utilize your skin temporarily felt revolting and disgusting in a way it made you wish you were actually on fire, not just in so much pain in a metaphysical level that it sure rivaled being set on fire, frost burned and lightning struck all in one go.
All is still now, all is silent.
Now comes the difficult part.
'Are you quite sure?', whispers Majora, crooning like nails on chalkboards, and it’s spikes sink into you tighter when you grip the sides of it, teeth gritted as you start prying it out of your face, amused by your defiance, but no longer as hungry. You did allow it quite the meal, you bet nothing like fellow divinity tastes better to the being, like the taste of a forbidden fruit you were going to be unfortunately acquainted given you’re sure Dark Link’s blood is on your teeth.
'Yes.' comes your faint response, as your sanity frays in fragile threads, you think someone calls your name, but you are drowning, you are burning, and you know that if you don’t focus it will break you. And you’d be fully dead before you let that happen. If you’re going to die you’re going to die as a human.
'Tou are so, so cold… So cruel.' It drawls, the demon’s voice like the gnawing of rats, like maggots under you skin, you convulse, falling to your knees with a wounded keen and pull harder, you barely noticed someone falling by your side, frantically calling your name, but the mask’s eyes dim to an outsider’s perspective, resigned as it hums dreamily, 'I suppose that’s why The Divine Hunter cares for you so, why it’s vessel’s claim is so strong.'
Good, you were banking on it being sleepy, after gorging yourself on the enemy of your boys, Hylia’s gash and Din’s assets your mouth is going to taste putrid for months isn’t it?
Majora hisses, growls, howls and screeches, a brush against your essence as it retreats. Unwinding from every single cell of your body, distorting your atoms back to their proper shape. It still hurts, buy it’s more bearable, although you quickly notice you’re chocking on a different form of Divinity, more possessive, more wild but just as old and ferocious as it snaps at the retreating heels of the twisted, chaotic thorns. Making reality remember your own shape quicker at the cost of filling every crack consumed by the demon.
You swear that thing is smiling smugly at something else, teeth bared and very entertained, taking the suffering of the people of Termina and the cold revulsion in your veins with it as it retreats with it's cacaphony of voices to the shade, 'A shame. Feasting more would be delightful, but very well. We trust that though you hurt today, tomorrow you’ll make sure we head on our way.'
You don’t have the mind or heart to say anything else to it, for it grows silent as the spikes rip from the sides of your face, you bite of a tortured yell as the spikes rip off chunks of skin and flesh, clawing at the ground with, thankfully, soothing, perfectly regular fingers and nails, albeit cracked, you feel someone take their hand in yours, and you crack open an eye, carefully aware of the blood dripping down your face from the half removal of the heart shaped mask and the thrum of thunder replacing the cold in your veins with boiling, protective warmth.
Time.
“You shouldn’t be up already.”, you rasp, looking over his wounded form, healed by Hyrule, you shakily take your left hand to keep prying at the Majora’s Mask, only for him to take it gently in yours, you taste blood, the petrichor of the Lost Woods mist and pine on the back of your mouth, chasing the rot of Majora away.
“It’s nothing, we both know I’ve had worse.” He says, firmly shaking his head. His scarred eye is open, ivory like bone, the markings more vibrant and prominent with the ferocity of a god, he looks tired, and you attempt to speak, to apologize, to voice your worry because you knew channeling the deity without a conduit was a bad idea, before coughing, shaking from the aftermath of your reckless, reckless plan.
(You unfortunately can’t say you regret it much, though, when you silently bear the combined brunt of Time and Fierce Deity’s care once you reach camp and the protective way they act towards you. Even though Majora is long gone much to your resigned exasperation, and the rest of your boys amusement, but that is for much, much later.)
Time gently hums, it rings through you like thunder as he holds you close, tapping your neck in a rhythm you could recognize in your sleep for when he was about to pull arrows, blades or shrapnel from your skin, or was ready to have it done to himself, you immediately loosen yourself as much as possible, gripping his hand tightly as he rips the rest of the Majora’s Mask off, inert and lifeless as when you’ve both woke up from a new day, he holds you close as you try to breathe, reassuring himself you’re still here, “Don’t you ever scare me like that again. Please.” He pleads, begs, prays. He can't lose you too.
And you can’t help it, you smile as you cry crimson and russet tones from your eyes, holding him back as close as you dare to. He doesn’t hate you, you’re sure you’re going to soon participate in the argument of a lifetime. But Link doesn’t hate you, doesn’t see you as a monster any more than you could ever see him as anything but the kind companion you always knew.
So you let yourself nod, helpless to say no to him for anything really. And allow yourself to breathe, you’re both going to be alright.
#linked universe x reader#linked universe time x reader#lu time x reader#also know as Reader Going All in on their Feral Arc on my docs lol#this makes reference to Majora's story in fhe manga before it became a mask.#and basically has some of my many many thoughts about why it evolved the way it did and it's effects#even though all the original version of it as a demon was basically one long nap lol#The Majora's Mask adapts depending on who's wearing it and in this essay I will-#Majora: So what's in it for me if I indulge your little mortal whims?#Reader who us willing to do anything for the Links and Time: Free food entertainment and a nap?#Majora after seeing it can annoy Fierce Deity in one go too: Deal#They're both analogue and aspects to each other and are so mad about it. Alrighty! I didn't play with Majora's Mask (still haven't played it), but I hope this satisfies!

He should have kissed her one last time.
He shouldn’t have accepted her kiss and let it be. He should have scooped her off her feet, kissed her like he never would again, kissed her like she’d forget him otherwise, kissed her like the world depended on it. Now it’s too late. Now he’ll never kiss her again.
Malon will be at home with the girls, maybe their eldest will be visiting, maybe she’ll be off with her husband instead. They’ll be waiting for him, excited for him to come back again, bearing treasures for his best girls as he does every time Queen Zelda calls for his help. He had them too, had picked out a hairpin for Navi, a new knife for Sari, and the rattle he’d found to give his eldest and her husband. He knows full well that they didn’t want to tell him yet, were waiting until his final mission was over before sharing the happy news. Malon knows, his girls know, but they’d wanted to give him a happy surprise when he came back.
Now, there will never come a time where he will meet Melony’s little one. Would that child be one of his pup’s parents one day? A grandparent? Would it be another of his girls that would bring about the sharp young warriors he’d grown so fond of in his last adventure? Link isn’t sure. He’ll never know now though.
No, standing over his own lifeless body, he’s struck with the truth that he will never hold his grandchild in his arms or watch his pup come into this life. What if the child who’s still growing within his eldest will in fact be the boy he’d seen as a son? His pup just waiting to come into this world? He’ll not know the mentor he’ll come to see as a father until he’s nearly in his twenties, and then he’ll only get to know a version of him that is from long before himself.
It had hurt, having to say goodbye, but never getting to say hello somehow hurts just as bad, if not more.
He’s run a hundred missions. He's helped fend off monsters and threats so many times. He’s fought the Gerudo and uprisings of other races. He’s aided her highness wherever he was asked, whenever he was asked. Like Legend had once said: once a hero, they're always heroes. There’s no turning down adventure, no matter how long or short it is they’ve had to rest. It’s in their nature to chase the stars, to let wild souls run free, chasing the thrill of the battle, the challenge of a good puzzle, the safety of their people. He’d accepted this mission like each one before, the same warning to the queen on his lips. “This is the last time, Zelda, never again.” And she’d just nodded and smiled in a knowing way.
He’d really meant it this time though. Becoming a father was one thing, but now with his daughters grown, the presence of a new little life drives even further home the truth of his age, of the years, of the fact that he’s no longer a young man, and one day he’s not going to be fast enough. He’d decided it was time to retire, to turn in his armor when he got home and hang up his sword over the mantle as nothing more than a last resort in times of a trouble and a trophy of thousands of stories to share with the new little life about to come into the world.
He was planning to go home. Planning to retire at long last.
  Now he never will.
He'd seen the blow coming. Been injured enough to know he couldn’t stop it. Still, like Warriors used to say, he’s never known when to quit. The ocarina had been on his lips, a familiar and well played tune already taking effect even as he’d felt the plunge of the blade.
He doesn’t know if he’d broken it, if the sword fell at the wrong time or if the magic had just twisted up with it all, but he’s watched himself die three time now.
Three times, he’s caught the ocarina when he’d thought there was no chance, and yet every time, just as the final note plays, an enemy blow finds him, lies him low, steals his final breath as it wheezes that last note to send him back again. Again into battle, again into war, again into the sands of the desert with a desperate hope in his heart that he could make it back this time.
Melony has a child he needs to welcome into the world. Navi and her beau have been courting for months and he’s only just waiting for the lad to come and ask to speak with him now. He’d promised Sari that he’d teach her the ways of the sword when he returned, help her fulfill her dream of becoming a knight. He needs to go home to them. He needs to hold his grandson. He needs to walk his youngest down the aisle. He needs to see his fiercest daughter receive the honor she’s been chasing since childhood.
Yet each time he thinks he’s going to have the time, each time he’s sent back, back to when his lungs still heave with breath and his heart still pounds in his chest, the blade finds him before his tune is finished.
  He still tries.
He tries playing it the moment he’s back, but an arrow ends it.
He tries lifting his shield before him, crouching low behind the pile of fallen soldiers, but an enemy always creeps upon him, or a monster appears out of the sands.
He’s a hero and a fighter not able to go down like a coward, so of course he tries to fight instead, to not even touch the ocarina, to ward off blows and keep his whole focus on the field, on the enemy, on the blows headed for him, but that simply lands him here again, standing over his own corpse and overcome again with the weight of his failure.
He needs to go home. He promised Malon. He told her he’d come back within a fortnight. He promised her it was the last time. He should have kissed her, told her he loved her enough times to make up for all the years he’s now going to miss. He should have visited Melony and her husband. He should have told her he knew, hugged her, told her child at least once, even if they couldn’t hear, how much he already loved them.
  Now he never can.
He’s a hero, he’s like Wild, he won’t lay down and die. He picks up the ocarina again and plays, plays until he’s breathing again and on the field.
  He only falls again.
  He’s never going home.
He fights on anyway; he can’t give up. It's all he’s got now. Surely, eventually, he can win. Surely, he can change it. In his heart, he knows it’s no good, but he can’t accept defeat, can’t accept death.
He has to try again, one more time.

Do you think that after the panic from getting teleported, from the last few seconds slipping through his fingers, Link opened his eyes, squinting at the harsh sunlight and only able to see the vague outline of a giant tree casting shade over a landscape of green and playing children
For just a moment he untensed, for the first time in a long time he forgot where he was and smiled, until his eyes cleared and he saw it for what it really was
A world too unreal to be real, like looking at a child's drawing of a place instead of seeing it
Do you think he felt guilty, about relaxing in that moment
Do you think he faltered when the children came into view, as he stepped closer
Do you think he felt a twisted kinship with Majora, The child who was different, left out as his peers played in the sun
Do you think he saw the other Kokiri in the four children
Did he shamefully recall Fado as Odolwa mused, one who had always been friendly to him but spat venom when he let her guardian die, the only Kokiri to warn him of the dangers of the lost woods, did his betrayal hit her hard, did she sit after he left and think over every interaction with him, did she think he didn't see her as a friend
Did he remember three brothers when Goht asked, wanting for knowledge about things they shouldn't know, and knowing things they could never understand, hungry but sheltered in the forests branches, never able to understand the knowledge they had
Did he think of Mido when Gyorg spoke, desperately grasping for the right thing, for leadership, for the ability to make sure the other Kokiri stayed happy
Did he think of Saria at Twinmolds words, forced to wear the mask of a leader, of a sage, of a protector when she was just as young as the children around her
Did he accept that mask from Majora because he saw a fragment of himself in the mask, playing at heros and villains, did he see himself as bad for running that first time and every time after it, did he see himself as bad even now, still running to get away from the fate bearing down on his shoulders as it followed him anyways?

(Hi! Sorry, I was with a friend and she sent the message while I was still writing as a joke-)
The ask is if you could write Quackity x reader where Quackity's boyfriend is guatemalan (you don't have to know a lot about Guatemala, maybe just Quackity being interested in the culture bcs is similar to mexican but also very different)
That's all, thank you!! Hope you have a great day :>
A/n:
Ofc!!I don’t know much about Guatemala (as I’m irish) but I tried 🙏
QUACKITYX M! GUATEMALAN READER
-You and Quackity met whilst you were on holidays with your friend-group travelling all around Mexico.Your group decided to go and head to a big video-game shop you had all heard of and found a bus to take you there, but due to your group being made up of 5 people, you had to sit by yourself, though you didn’t mind as it meant that you got to play video-games on the way there.
Unfortunately, your plans of solitude and smooth sailing were crashed both due to the fact that the roads were extremely bumpy and due to the fact that a handsome stranger has decided to sit beside you.
You tried to continue playing and eventually tried to ignore the man staring holes into your 3DS and you turn to look at him, “Do you need something?” You inquire, raising an eyebrow.
He looks panicked and quickly replies with “oh sorry!!I was just curious about what game you were playing..”
“It’s Majora’s mask, I only got it recently” you added, smiling at him.
-am hour later-
You had learned that the man’s name is Alexis-though he prefers to go by Alex,he’s the same age as you and has quite a lot in common with you.
You feel quite sad that you have to get off the bus with your friends now, but before you can leave he quickly places his hand on your arm and goes “Wait!!Whats your number, I was uh just wondering if you’d like to hang out sometime…maybe..?” He looked at you, nervous and expecting to be rejected.
“Of course! Here you go!” You answer, trying not to sound too excited that a handsome stranger had asked for your number.
As you left the bus with your friends, Alex began texting you immediately, hoping that it was the right number.
You quickly replied back to him and you both began to text for the rest of your trip.
He began to ask where you were from, what is it like living in Guatemala?did they make good stew over there? What type of traditions did they have over there?what were your countries sports?
Once you arrived home he begged to call you and of course-you answered.
“Hey you said you’ve a pc right?Do you wanna play minecraft with me on my server?”he then invited you to a server ‘huh…Q-S-M-P…that’s an odd name.’ You thought to yourself.
You realised that there were a lot of people online that spoke Spanish, so naturally, when they started to speak to you in Spanish, you spoke back, which surprised alex “wow you can speak Spanish??” He asked, hoping to not come across as sound dumb.
“Of course I can!!Wait why’s your username Quackery?” You asked, before bursting out laughing at the name. “It’s Quackity!!”you could basically hear his eyes roll dramatically.
This was the same day you found out that “Quackity” was the name of his YouTube and twitch channel, you had decided to check it out and were amazed at how famous he really was, he was practically a celebrity!!You had began to tune into some of his recent streams without telling him and it was bizarre to you to see the same group of geeks you had been joking with not two hours ago, (along with Alex of course) bring in hundreds of thousands of views by just being themselves online.
Day after day, week after week, you and Quackity got closer, until eventually he pulled up at your house one day with flowers. “WH-Alex what are you doing here??Why do you have flowers??!”
He blushed and then hesitantly asked “do you uh, y’know, um, wanna go out?” “Of course I do!!” He stared at you, both in bewilderment that you actually agreed and the fact that he knew that he just couldn’t look away from your pretty face.
“I didn’t actually think you’d be gay or anything..”you smiled softly at him, inviting him in and gently taking the flowers from him. “Well you guessed wrong!”you replied, your face as red as tilíns bow.
You both decided to go on a date at your local restaurant, Alex hasn’t actually planned this far ahead as he thought you’d simply reject him.
You both couldn’t stop flirting with eachother-ignoring the looks some of the elders gave you.
Once the date and he was, yet again, back on your doormat; he wrapped his arms around your waist, kissed you gently on the lips and waved goodbye.
-Later that night-
*Quackity is live:IMSOHAPPY*
You decided to click onto the stream out of curiousity.
“GUYS GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY?!!!”

Darkness. He was surrounded by the pitch black void, standing on an invisible floor with the only company being a hissing sound. Link looked around, trying to find the source but to no avail.
"Little hero..."
He froze. He recognized that voice.
"Did you think you could escape me so easily?"
Tendrils shot out from the abyss, clamping onto his face. Link screamed in pain, it burned to the touch even as he tried to claw them off. Suddenly he felt immobilized; his wrists, ankles, and neck held on by the tendrils and began to move him like a puppet.
He tried to call out, but nothing came.
"You have no power here." Majora whispered in his head. "You played my game, and now we're going to finish it properly~"
A figure formed out before him; his heart stopped.
Zelda. His beloved, wonderful princess Zelda stood in front of him with a smile that could make the sun envious. She called out his name, stretching out her hand to take his like they've done a thousand times.
He felt his arm reach towards her, taking her hand- before tightly gripping it with an inhuman strength. She cried out in pain, and Link screamed in his head.
STOP IT. LET ME GO! LEAVE HER ALONE!
The mask only laughed. "Oh, but we're not done with the game, little hero." His arm pulled the blade from his back, Link felt his blood run cold.
No no no no no no. Stop it! Please!
But he could not, crimson soaked his vision.
----
Link awoke screaming, clutching the bed sheets, drenched in cold sweat as his heart thundered. Zelda arose quickly, brows furrowed with concern to her boyfriend's state.
"Link what's wrong? Are you alright?" She reached out to touch his hand, when he pushed her away and fell onto the floor, eyes widened like an animal in fear. "Link?"
"D-don't come close!" he warned, pushing himself to the corned of the room. "I'm dangerous!"
Her highness' heart ached for her hero; what monsters plauged him within his dreams?
She kneeled before him, hands placed on her lap, watching him curl himself up into a ball to shield himself from the world. From her.
She couldn't reach out to him with the comfort of her hand as much as she wished, but she could in an alternate way. Softly, she began to hum her lullaby. She noted the twitch of his ears, registering the song, how his breath changed from rapid to ease.
He reached out a hand towards her, and she gladly accepted it with a gentle squeeze. Zelda inched closer, testing his boundaries to see what he allowed. When he didn't push her away, she brought him into her arms and rested his head against her chest.
Link held onto her as if his life depended on it, tears soaking into her nightgown as he cried into her arms; she felt her heart break with each whimper. "Do you want to talk about it or get distracted?" she asked, kissing his hair. He traced the word 'talk' into her skin, and she adjusted themselves to be more comfortable. "I'm listening."
He let go of her to speak, his hands still shaking from the panic but she observed nonetheless. When he finished his explanation she could only stare in horror. Masks that held spirits both good and evil, a world doomed to burn in three days and repeat, her beloved having to suffer *again* and be subjected to a living nightmare over an item she gifted him.
She cupped his face, wiping away his tears with her thumb caressing over the scars she's intimately come to know. "You've dealt with so much grief for simply having a kind heart." She kissed his forehead, "you've never deserved such tragedy." Link melted into her, moving himself to be as physically close as he could be while Zelda rubbed circles on his back. Maybe she couldnt erase what time had done to him, but if she could bring him the comfort and love he deserved, then that was enough.

The original Sonic.exe story centers on Tom, a young man who was a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, especially the older games. He claimed that he had not played any glitchy or hacked games before, though he admitted that he didn't want to after an experience he had.
He then proceeded to recount his experience, saying how he received a CD and an accompanying letter from his friend Kyle, begging him to destroy the disc before it's "too late" and not to play the game.
Ignoring his friend's warnings, Tom played the game and began to encounter odd, somewhat disturbing phenomena, from a title card featuring an evil-looking Sonic with bloody eyes and glowing pupils with a wide smile to the presence of a file select screen similar to that of the one in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, with a red background and chilling music playing.
As he picked the only available character, Tails and began the first stage, titled "HILL ACT 1", Tom continued to find more evidence that there was something wrong with the game, namely the copious amounts of dead animals, all murdered in gruesome ways and eventually encountering Sonic at the end of the level, standing completely still and with his eyes closed.
When Tails attempted to get his attention during a cutscene by tapping him on the shoulder, Sonic's eyes opened, identical to the Sonic on the title screen before cutting to black, with the message "Hello. Do you want to play with me?" In the next level, "HIDE AND SEEK", Tom witnessed Sonic chasing Tails, the latter flying despite an inability to do so without a Super form, before disappearing, teleporting in front of the distraught fox and killing him and cutting to black.
Shocked, Tom reads the next message, "YOU'RE TOO SLOW. WANT TO TRY AGAIN?". After playing as Knuckles and losing a supposed "boss battle" with Sonic, Tom decided to take a break from the game.
However, his rest was plagued by nightmares featuring the corrupted Tails and Knuckles, and the demonic Sonic, with him waking in a cold sweat. Returning to the game, Tom picked Robotnik from the file select screen and continued with the game.
At the end of the level, Sonic teleported in front of Robotnik, before the screen cut to red static. Then, a "hyper-realistic" image of Sonic appeared on the screen, with the words "I AM GOD!". After the game ended, Tom turned around to find, to his utter horror, a bloodied Sonic plushie on his bed. Tom's fate is ambiguous
🤓 that's all you can do????
BEN Drowned, or Haunted Majora's Mask, is a well-known creepypasta (and later, an alternate reality game) created by Alex Hall, also known as "Jadusable". The story revolves around a Majora's Mask cartridge that is haunted by the ghost (if it is a ghost) of a boy named Ben.
Okay, /x/, I need your help with this. This is not copypasta, this is a long read, but I feel like my safety or well-being could very well depend on this. This is video game related, specifically Majora's Mask, and this is the creepiest shit that has ever happened to me in my entire life.
Having said that, I recently moved into my dorm room starting as a Sophomore in college and a friend of mine gave me his old Nintendo 64 to play. I was stoked, to say the least, I could finally play all of those old games of my youth that I hadn't touched in at least a decade. His Nintendo 64 came with one yellow controller and a rather shoddy copy of Super Smash Brothers, and while beggars can't be choosers, needless to say it didn't take long until I became bored of beating up LVL 9 CPUs.
That weekend I decided to drive around a few neighborhoods about twenty minutes or so off campus, hitting up the local garage sales, hoping to score on some good deals from ignorant parents). I ended up picking up a copy of Pokemon Stadium, Goldeneye (fuck yeah), F-Zero, and two other controllers for two dollars. Satisfied, I began to drive out of the neighborhood when one last house caught my attention. I still have no idea why it did, there were no cars there and only one table was set up with random junk on it, but something sort of drew me there. I usually trust my gut on these things so I got out of the car and I was greeted by an old man. His outward appearance was, for lack of a better word, displeasing. It was odd, if you asked me to tell you why I thought he was displeasing, I couldn't really pinpoint anything - there was just something about him that put me on edge, I can't explain it. All I can tell you is that if it wasn't in the middle of the afternoon and there were other people within shouting distance, I would not have even thought of approaching this man.
He flashed a crooked smiled at me and asked what I was looking for, and immediately I noticed that he must be blind in one of his eyes; his right eye had that "glazed over" look about it. I forced myself to look to his left eye instead, trying not to offend, and asked him if he had any old video games.
I was already wondering how I could politely excuse myself from the situation when he would tell me he had no idea what a video game was, but to my surprise he said he had a few ones in an old box. He assured me he'd be back in a "jiffy" and turned to head back into the garage. As I watched him hobble away, I couldn't help but notice what he was selling on his table. Littered across his table were rather… peculiar paintings; various artworks that looked like ink blots that a psychiatrist might show you. Curious, I looked through them - it was obvious why no one was visiting this guy's garage sale, these weren't exactly aesthetically pleasing. As I came to the last one, for some reason it looked almost like Majora's Mask - the same heart-shaped body with little spikes protruding outward. Initially I just thought that since I was secretly hoping to find that game at these garage sales, some Freudian bullshit was projecting itself into the ink blots, but given the events that happened afterward I'm not so sure now. I should have asked the man about it. I wish I would have asked the man about it.
After staring at the Majora-shaped blot, I looked up and the old man was suddenly there again, arms-length in front of me, smiling at me. I'll admit I jumped out of reflex and I laughed nervously as he handed me a Nintendo 64 cartridge. It was the standard grey color, except that someone had written Majora on it in black permanent marker. I got butterflies in my stomach as I realized what a coincidence this was and asked him how much he wanted for it.
The old man smiled at me and told me that I could have it for free, that it used to belong to a kid who was about my age that didn't live here anymore. There was something weird about how the man phrased that, but I didn't really pay any attention to then, I was too caught up in not only finding this game but getting it for free.
I reminded myself to be a bit skeptical since this looked like a pretty shady cartridge and there's no guarantee it would work, but then the optimist inside me interjected that maybe it was some kind of beta version or pirated version of the game and that was all I needed to be back on cloud nine. I thanked the man and the man smiled at me and wished me well, saying "Goodbye then!" - at least that's what it sounded like to me. All the way in the car-ride home, I had a nagging doubt that the man had said something else. My fears were confirmed when I booted up the game (to my surprise it worked just fine) and there was one save file named simply "BEN". "Goodbye Ben", he was saying "Goodbye Ben". I felt bad for the man, obviously a grandparent and obviously going senile, and I - for some reason or another - reminded him of his grandson "Ben".
Out of curiosity I looked at the save file. Eyeballing it, I could tell that he was pretty far in the game - he had almost all of the masks and 3/4 remains of the bosses. I noticed that he had used an owl statue to save his game, he was on Day 3 and by the Stone Tower Temple with hardly an hour left before the moon would crash. I remember thinking that it was a shame that he had come so close to beating the game but he never finished it. I made a new file named "Link" out of tradition and started the game, ready to relive my childhood.
For such a shady looking game cartridge, I was impressed at how smoothly it ran - literally just like a retail copy of the game save for a few minor hiccups here and there (like textures being where they shouldn't be, random flashes of cutscenes at odd intervals, but nothing too bad). However the only thing that was a little unnerving was that at times the NPCs would call me "Link" and at other times they would call me "BEN". I figured it was just a bug - a fluke in the programming causing our files to get mixed up or something. It did kind of creep me out though after a while, and it was around after I had beaten the Woodfall Temple that I regrettably went into the save files and deleted "BEN" (I had intended to preserve the file just out of respect of the game's original owner, it's not like I needed two files anyway), hoping that that would solve the problem. It did and it didn't, now NPCs wouldn't call me anything, where my name should be in the dialogue there was just a blank space (my save file name was still called "Link", though). Frustrated, and with homework to do, I put the game down for a day.
I started playing the game again last night, getting the Lens of Truth and working my way towards completing the Snowhead Temple. Now, some of you more hardcore Majora's Mask players know about the "4th Day" glitch - for those who don't you can Google it but the gist of it is that right as the clock is about to hit 00:00:00 on the final day, you talk to the astronomer and look through the telescope. If you time it right the countdown disappears and you essentially have another day to finish whatever you were doing. Deciding to do the glitch to try and finish the Snowhead Temple, I happened to get it right on the first try and the time counter at the bottom disappeared.
However, when I pressed B to exit the telescope, instead of being greeted by the astronomer I found myself in the Majora boss fight room at the end of the game (the trippy boxed in arena) staring at Skull Kid hovering above me. There was no sound, just him floating in the air above me, and the background music which was regular for the area (but still creepy). Immediately my palms began to sweat - this was definitely not normal. Skull Kid NEVER appeared here. I tried moving around the area, and no matter where I went, Skull Kid would always be facing me, looking at me, not saying anything. Nothing would happen though, and this kept up for around sixty seconds. I thought the game had bugged or something - but I was beginning to doubt that very much.
I was about to reach for the reset button when text appeared on my screen: "You're not sure why, but you apparently had a reservation…" I instantly recognized that text - you get that message when you get the Room Key from Anju at the Stock Pot Inn, but why was it playing here? I refused to entertain the notion that it was almost as if the game was trying to communicate with me. I started navigate the room again, testing to see if that was some sort of trigger that enabled me to interact with something here, then I realized how stupid I was - to even think that someone could reprogram the game like this was absurd. Sure enough, fifteen seconds later another message appeared on the screen, and again like the first one it was already a pre-existing phrase "Go to the lair of the temple's boss? Yes/No". I paused for a second, contemplating what I should press and how the game would react, when I realized that I couldn't select no. Taking a deep breath, I pressed Yes and the screen faded to white, with the words "Dawn of a New Day" with the subtext "||||||||" beneath it. Where I was ported to filled me with the most intense sense of dread and impending fear I had ever experienced
The only way I can describe the way I felt here is having this feeling of inexplicable depression on a profound scale. I am normally not a depressed person, but the way I felt here was a feeling that I didn't even knew existed - it was such a twisted, powerful presence that seemed to wash over me.
I appeared in some kind of weird twilight-zone version of Clock Town. I walked out of the Clock Tower (as you normally do when you start from Day 1) only to find that all of the inhabitants were gone. Usually with the 4th Day glitch you can still find the guards and the dog that runs around outside the tower - this time they were all gone. What replaced them was the ominous feeling that there was something out there, in the same area as me and that it was watching me. I had four hearts to my name and the Hero's Bow, but at this point I wasn't even considered for my avatar, I felt that I personally was in some kind of danger. Perhaps the most chilling thing was the music - it was the Song of Healing, ripped straight from the game itself, but played in reverse. The music would get louder, building up so as if you should expect something to pop out at you, but nothing ever did, and the constant loop began to wear on my mental state.
Every now and then I would hear the faint laugh of the Happy Mask Salesman in the background, just quiet enough so that I wasn't sure if I just hearing things but just loud enough to keep me determined to find him. I looked in all four zones of Clock Town, only to find nothing.... No one. Textures were missing, West Clock Town had me walking on air, the entire area felt... broken. Hopelessly broken. As the reverse Song of Healing repeated for what must have been the 50th time, I just remember standing in the middle of South Clock Town realizing that I had never felt so alone in a video game before.
As I walked through the ghost town, I don't know whether it was the combination of the out of place textures and the atmosphere and the haunting melody of the once peaceful and soothing song being butchered and distorted, but I was literally on the verge of tears and I had no idea why. I hardly ever cry, something had gripped me here and this powerful sense of depression that was both foreign and crippling.
I tried leaving Clock Town, but every time I attempted to zone out, the screen would fade to black and I would just zone in to another part of Clock Town. I tried playing my Ocarina, I wanted to escape, and I did NOT want to be here, but every time I played the Song of Time or Song of Soaring it would only say "Your notes echo far, but nothing happens". By this point, it was obvious the game didn't want me to leave, but I had no idea why it was keeping me here. I didn't want to go inside the buildings, I felt that I would be too vulnerable there to whatever I was terrified of. I don't know why, but I came up with the idea that maybe if I drowned myself at the Laundry Pool I could spawn somewhere else and leave this place.
As I zoned in and ran towards the pool, that's when it happened. Link grabbed his head, and the screen flashed for a brief moment of the Happy Mask Salesman smiling at me - not Link - me with Skull Kid's scream playing in the background and when the screen returned I was staring at the Link Statue from playing the song Elegy of Emptiness. I screamed as the thing just stared back at me with that haunting facial expression. I turned around and ran out and back into South Clock Town, and to my horror the fucking statue followed me in the only way I can compare this is like the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who. Every so often, at random intervals, the animation would play of the statue appearing behind me. It was like the thing was chasing me, or - I don't even want to fucking say it - haunting me.
By this point, I was on the verge of hysterics, but not even once did the thought of turning off the console occur to me, I don't know why, I was so wrapped up in it - the terror felt all so real. I tried to shake the statue, but it would literally appear right behind me every single time. Link started to begin to make weird animations I had never even seen him do before, he would flail his arms around or spasm randomly and the screen would cut to the Happy Mask Salesman smiling again for a brief moment before I was face to face with that fucking statue again. I ended up running into the Swordmaster's Dojo and ran to the back, I don't know why, but in my panic I just wanted some kind of assurance that I'm not alone here. To my dismay I found no one, but as I turned to leave the statue cornered me in the cubby in the back. I tried attacking the statue with my sword but to no avail. Confused, and backed into a corner, I just stared at the statue waiting for it to kill me. Suddenly, the screen flashed again to the Happy Mask Salesman and Link turned to face my screen, standing upright mirroring the statue, looking at me along with his copy. Literally staring at me. Whatever was left of the 4th wall was completely shattered while I ran out of the dojo terrified. Suddenly the game warped me to an underground tunnel and the reverse Song of Healing queued up again as I was given a brief moment of rest before the statue started appearing behind me again... this time aggressively - I could only take a few steps before it would summon behind me again. I hurriedly made my way out of the tunnel and appeared in Southern Clock Town. As I ran aimlessly - in a sheer panic - suddenly a redead screamed and the screen faded to black as "Dawn of a New Day" and "|||||||||" appeared again.
The screen faded in and I was standing on top of Clock Tower with Skull Kid hovering over me again, silent. I looked up and the moon was back, looming just meters above my head, but the Skull Kid just stared at me hauntingly with that fucking mask. A new song was playing - the Stone Tower Temple theme played in reverse. In some sort of desperate attempt, I equipped my bow and fired off a shot at the Skull Kid - and it actually hit him and he played an animation of him reeling back. I fired again and on the third arrow, a text box appeared saying "That won't do you any good. Hee, hee." and I was picked up off the ground, levitated upwards on my back, and then Link screamed as he burst into flames, instantly killing him.

"Malon finally got the bunny hairband she wanted. Is it a gift from her father?" Asked Fierce Deity as he watched playing with other children of the town
"I bought it for her" replied Link
It casted a silence between both of them as they still struggled a bit at their life together.
"She did so much for me since I am back in Hyrule and she wanted it so much. Also I find her... C-cute with it."
"Wouldn't you like to wear one as well?"
"...I don't know. I don't think I'll be able to wear a mask anytime soon... But maybe a hairband would be ok. But maybe she'd think I am weird."
"She won't." Assured Fierce Deity
"Maybe the other kids... Will find me weird too. Kids don't really like me."
Saria missed him. Fierce deity asked again :
"Is it because of Mido?"
"How do you know him?!"
"When we shared the same soul to fight Majora I could see your memories and thought. I am sorry." He looked at Link with sincerity. He couldn't have known that they'd grow closer later.
"... It's fine. And yeah. I think it's just... I was the only kokiri without a fairy. And he constantly reminded me that. But... I am not mad at him anymore. Because when I came back years later he said he wanted to see me again... And that he was sorry."
Fierce Deity patted Link gently as the young boy looked down.
"Children notice who's different and can be mean because of that. What matter is that they don't stay this way. And Mido didn't." He said. "You should try to play with them. I am sure Malon would be happy to see you."
Link blushed at the idea.
"Do you really think so?"
"People of this town likes you, Link. Even if they will never know how you helped them, you still help them day to day. You don't have to go today though. What about buying another bunny hairband?"
Link smiled up to fierce deity.
"Ok. Let's do that."
Link smiled more.
"Thank you."

I came into majoras mask knowing full well that each region was based after the five stages of grief. I knew about the deaths in this game. I knew about everyone’s reactions to the moon. And yet… it all is still taking me by surprise at how truly dark and hauntingly beautiful this game is 😭

Even before Termina, the man was unsettling, especially his ever-present wooden smile. Being only nine at the time of their first meeting, Link paid no attention to the salesman’s stranger behaviour. Not to the way his silky voice broke on certain words or how his obsession with masks gleamed in his eyes. Nor to the way spoke to Link as if he were a good friend.
After Termina, the man terrified him. He still does. Nothing could erase the feeling of his tight grip, shaking Link when he lost the mask. Nothing could make him forget the song he played back upon their second meeting in that strange land, the way it tore his wooden face off and threw it on the ground. The way Majora contorted the spirit of a lonely Skullkid- the way the beast could only be killed by a Deity of the moon. The way the salesman had ties to every one of those masks.
Dawn of the first day: 72 hours remain.
Dawn of the second day: 48 hours remain.
Dawn of the third day: 24 hours remain.
“You’ve met a terrible fate.”
Yes, he had, and Link would be lying if he said he didn’t blame the mask salesman just a little bit. Reminiscing on their first encounter, he is sure the stranger knew what was to come. He always seemed to. His masks in Hyrule looked too much like the ones he carried into Termina. Perhaps they were one and the same. Even the Zora and Goron masks.
His similarity to the moon children also scared him. Without that smiling mask, he looked just like them. They still visited him in his dreams- whispered their relentless questions to him. They begged him to answer with their silence. Link couldn’t answer them, he didn’t know. Save one. He knew what he would say to.
“Are you going to become a mask salesman, too?”
No. Although he couldn’t shake the love of masks from his bones, the thought of being taking over his job made Link sick.

Father of Time Chapter 25: The Boy of Many Masks and What Became of Them
Aveum returned to the room shortly after Deity and Link, wearing silver armor almost identical to the Fierce Deity's, though with a silvery purple tunic under and different symbols upon the breastplate.  Like Oceans, there was Nayru's symbol on the left but the right had a strange clock-like thing instead. She had two thin swords on her hips.
"Do all of you guys have the same armor?! I didn't know you knew how to fight, Aunt Aevum!" Link eyed the plate armor appreciatively; would he get something similar when he got older? Farore's words about manifesting armor wound lazily through his mind.
"Of course I do. I just prefer not to. Those things in the temple though, UG. Seriously. Majora was psychotic. Link, you're looking much better."  The goddess put a finger on the boy's cheek, turning his face a bit. "The marks aren't visible anymore and I don't sense any problems. Good!"
Deity narrowed his eyes a bit. "Pardon?"
The goddess frowned at Link. "You haven't told him?"
Link sighed and dropped onto his bed. "Ah man, we only just got back. No chance to. I haven't seen him all day!"
So they told him over dinner in their room. Aevum was more than willing to talk about the strange reaction to the deku mask and Link left her to it.   The way she talked about the experience felt very clinical and it was nice to get some separation from the event.  He had half forgotten what it had felt like with the excitement of playing outside but even still, the talk reminded him uncomfortably of the whole ordeal. He shuddered and crouched over slightly and Deity gave him a probing look.
"We should take care of the masks then. Now."
"Hold on a moment, Brother. I wanted to poke at the magic some more.  Link isn't in any danger just from them existing. He wouldn't even try one on just to see if we could prevent the reaction from happening again."
"Aevum, I swear to the Mothers…"
"You would! Calm down. I'm not saying he had a great day but none of us could have predicted what happened and we handled it.  In fact, you should be glad I was the one with him. Rewinding the magic out of him was by far the safest option."
"Really, um, I'm okay dad."  Link gave his father a tight smile. "I even sort of forgot about it when I was outside with the others."
Aevum took the Goron mask out and shook it at Deity. "Did you want to try one on? We could see if it's you. Maybe your power is still mad about being stuck in one of these."
"Absolutely not."
"You two are no help at all. And stop with the voice, you'll scare the mortals.  Honestly!" She tucked the mask back away and stood. "I have some more things to do and I'll see what I can uncover about the masks. We can take care of them soon, I promise."
Link yawned as he pushed the last bites of food onto his spoon. "Do you ever sleep, Aunt Aevum?"
"I get plenty of rest at the temple. I want to make the best use of my time here; I can't run off to other realities that often you know. You should sleep or whatever though. If you need me, if you have any unforeseen side effects overnight, I will hear." And like every other time before, she was gone.

I really do love Termina. It's a lot of fun to write in.

I have another account @lu-novelization where I do image descriptions and novelizations to try to help Linked Universe be accessible to people with low vision! It is very much work in progress.
[Header ID: Image from the Linked Universe comic (@linkeduniverse). They are in the woods and there are fairies floating around the group. All 9 Links are walking away from the viewer, most with their backs turned. Legend is looking back and barely smiling at Warriors. Wild has his hands on his hood, like he just pulled it over his head. Four is looking back at the Links behind him. End ID.]
[Icon ID: drawing by @wolfy1298 of Linked Universe Sky in a cutesy animated art style. He is smiling up at the camera with his eyes closed and his sailcloth (white cloth) is wrapped around his body like a cape. There are sparkles surrounding his head. In the bottom, the words say “would fist fight god.” End ID.]

Linked Universe Long Stories
Authenticity: (24/?) Wild POV, Autistic Wild because I'm autistic and he's my comfort character
Summary: Wild knew he was… odd. He experienced the world differently than everyone else. No one seemed to feel as deeply as he did, about the things he did. Sometimes he would interact with people and it would just feel… off. It was as if everyone else had a rulebook on how to be a person but Wild was left watching and guessing.
And the thing is, Wild knew his friends knew it too. But these new friends, they were different. They didn’t treat him like he was different, or broken, or a burden. They just took him in stride. Wild didn’t know how to put into words how much that meant to him.
In which Wild is autistic because I’m autistic and I want him to be.
Gratitude: (3/9) Sky fluff!
Summary: 8 times Sky receives a gratitude crystal from the chain + 1 time he gives some away.
In Defense of Honor: (4/9) Badass Sky appreciation, Sky-centric with individual chapters for the others
Summary: 8 times Sky defends another member of the chain + 1 time they all defend him.
Only the Wild Ones (are the ones you can never catch): (5/5) Wild & Twilight centric Wild meets the chain
Summary: At 6, Link visits Castle Town for the first time and meets some strange men in the woods. At 12, Link pulls the Master Sword and sees his imaginary friends again. At 14, Link is appointed as the Princess’s personal guard and is grateful to have old friends on his side. At 16, the Calamity strikes, and Link has never felt more alone. At 16, Link dies.
At 117, Link defeats evil incarnate and saves Hyrule. At 117, Link meets eight peculiar heroes for the first time. Or, at least, what he believes is the first time.
Twilight thinks the Goddess Hylia has a cruel sense of humor and needs to leave his cub alone.
Favorite LU Oneshots
Sentiment: Warriors and Time have a disagreement. AKA two traumatized heroes don’t know how to handle emotions and then they try to have a healthy conversation about it
Delirium: Sky’s whittling slowed, hands lowering into his lap. His gaze was locked on Wild, as it had been for most of the afternoon. Wild wouldn’t stop twitching. Sky couldn’t figure out why. Based on kikker-oma’s art.
Welcome Home: The chain arrives at Lon Lon Ranch, and Malon’s words trigger a memory.
Bouquet: Wind, Wild, and Hyrule are planning a prank. They're quite obvious about it, but Time lets it happen anyway.
Find all my oneshots for LU on my AO3 here!

Summary: Cori and Agitha lead the second official meeting of the Bug Squad.

Affection: (6/6) BOTW

More: (1/1) BOTW
Summary: Link and Zelda bond over flames and Zelda has a lot of feelings about it.
Speaking to the Wind: (1/1) TOTK

Falling Through the Air: (1/1) TOTK
Summary: Link discovers her.
Skyward Sword Fanfic
Shapes in the Clouds: (1/1) GrooZeLink fluff
Summary: Groose finds Link looking at the clouds.

Congrats on 500 followers. As for my request' I'd be interesting in a post-Majora's Mask story where Link tells Zelda some stories about the masks he obtained.
Hey @dontasknotyourconcern! Thank you for your request! The story is a bit on the silly side — happy OoT zelink is too rare. 😄 If you like a more serious take on the post-Majora's Mask situation and their relationship, I recommend you look into my story "Somebody that I used to know", if you haven't already.
A chest full of surprises
"This is where you live?" Zelda asked, following the tug on her hand toward a memo board.
Link grinned. "Look, these are all the records I hold across Hyrule."
"Wow." Zelda pulled her hand free and roamed the room. "But you don't even have a painting! Just… necessities! Oh, what's this?" A yellow something peeked through the crack of a chest.
"That's… stuff I brought from Termina." His nape was red and his laugh high-pitched.
Zelda stepped back. "Excuse me, I didn't want to pry."
Her hand caught hers. "It's alright. I'll show you."
Together, they pushed the heavy lid open.
Whoa! So many colors! And materials! Stone, wood, and feathers!?
"Masks…" The word was a hollow whisper beside her. His eyes were cloudy and although he fingered the yellow fabric, he was far, far away. "They give me different… abilities."
Zelda ran her hand up his arm, squeezing a light pattern. He grinned half-heartedly. "Look." Up on his head, the yellow thing went, and he wiggled his head around, tearing a smile from her.
"Bunny ears? Cute."
"Yeah, they make me super fast. Really cool. Come!" He flashed down the ladder and around the clearing of Kokiri Forest like the wind. She could hardly make him out!
Climbing up to her again, he gave her a high-five.
"This one's fun, too." He panted, pulling out a feathered mask. "It lets me… ah, just look."
Down in the clearing, he played a march, all kinds of small forest animals joining him. Oh, he looked so cute! Zelda clapped her hands.
Back in the treehouse, he fished after another mask. "My favorite," he announced, smirking lopsidedly and snatching his shield. "Cover your ears."
He slid the ladder back down and put the mask on. It didn't look… extraordinary. Dark blue, with a white symbol on top. She leaned forward— BOOM!
"Link!" Zelda screamed, nearly falling down.
Smoke swirled through the grass, revealing a figure gasping for air.
"Link!" Zelda shouted again. She should help him, but what if it exploded once more?
"You should have seen your face!" Oh, the moron was laughing! Just you wait!
He beat her to it and flew up the ladder.
"Link, I thought you—"
He laughed, his arms spread for a hug. "That was the fun of it!"
She shooed him. "Don't get that grime over me or Impa won't allow me to visit you again!"
A pout appeared on his face, but he put the mask back.
"What's this? It's pretty." The mask Zelda held sparkled in the afternoon sun.
"Ooooh…" He laughed hoarsely, snatching it from her hands. "It's, uhm, the couple's mask, but you weren't supposed to find that yet."
"Yet?" Zelda erupted in laughter. "Do you have a crush on me, Link?"
"What? Never! You're a girl, how gross!"
"Sure…" Zelda teased, already leaping down the ladder.
"I'll get you!" Yellow ears flopped behind her and soon, he tackled her to the ground, bopping a black spot on her nose.

game tier list twenty twenty two
2022 was the year of every video game being five or more video games at the same time. games were deckbuilding AND basebuilding AND roguelite AND fishing AND farmingsims. i don't think this worked out TOO well but i can see the appeal and i hope we can make a good one sometime!
game of the year 2022:
celeste!! the best and only video game. video, space, game. this is the peak of the genre, which is understandable because it is also the only game that exists.
it's just so FUN. like, first i play celeste as a vocation AND THEN when i'm exhausted i turn off celeste, sit for a sec, and think, "ah, time for some light fun. let's play a bit of celeste."
S tier (video games of all time)
mm rando ("Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask Randomizer, allsanity settings") this shit is so fun?? it's so fun. i will play this every year
inscryption ohhhhh man did someone have fun making this game and it SHOWS. some guy that i bet really likes and appreciates magic the gathering made a video game about: what if you played magic the gathering and it mattered SO MUCH. what if everything in your world was to enable you having a good and terrible time playing (original and realllly well-designed?) trading card games. and he was RIGHT and i had a good and terrible time
dwarf fortress!!! i first played dorf fort in 2012. i learned to play it alongside a guy i'd just met on study abroad because we were bored nerds. he is now my best friend. i have loved this game for TEN YEARS!! i once met derek yu (spelunky etcetera) at a very nice party and extremely embarrassingly trapped him in a conversation so i could talk about how good dwarf fortress is. he was very gracious and understandably uncomfortable. i like this game a LOT a lot. but, for every year i've loved dorf fort, i haven't really been able to recommend it to anyone. "hey, do you want to play a game that is so fucking hard and annoying to learn?" the answer is not usually "oh yeah for sure"
everything about the new UI-remake is good. they took the "impossible to learn" out of the sentence that i have so many times said, "this game is brilliant and enchanting and also impossible to learn." (the game is now fully "and also.") they did a good one.
A tier (delightful games)
elden ring my computer was too sad to keep playing this, and i am sad about that. it was GREAT, everything about it was as delightful as the darksoul and more. i can't wait to finish it (and probably give it s-tier) when computer good
fortnite they finally made a good battle royale and it is fortnite. good job i like my friends and this game is what i did with them a lot.
super mario sunshine perfect nintendo-y game. filled with little guys of all kinds. i will play this every year
the barnacle goose experiment horror abiogenesis autoclicker!!
sayonara wild hearts GOOOOD soundtrack good game
B tier (really fun games)
vampire survivors this is the most video game ever. i've heard it described as "the best video game of 2003." i've also heard the developer used to program gambling-machine animations. i would have played this on the school bus on the way to highschool. it rules
neon white really fun, zøooomy. i don't have the patience to find microoptimizations in levels to beat my friends, but DANG is playing each level for the first time fun. the writing was cringe AND free, it made me smile
C tier (games i liked)
citizen sleeper to paraphrase shannon: a dnd-videogame except for friends at the table enjoyers. i really liked that every choice felt limited but intentional, rather than disco's fuck-you kinda dice rolls. but, the sell was: "things… are happening. hmmmm what could they be?" which was not strong enough to keep me deeply invested. i'll keep going back and playing little by little
helltaker it's like eight minutes long and it's full of newgrounds drawings of demongirls. it's not a good game. i liked it a lot
D tier (games i did not like)
loop hero. backpack hero. slice and dice. dicey dungeons these are all the same game and they are all different variations of boring
cult of the lamb ANOTHER five-games-in-one that added up to… one-half of a good game? the fighting is like worse hades, the farming sim is like worse dontstarve. the minigames are ok. it was fine
subnautica LOVE a shark! but the game was brought down by the "you have to find a tiny item in a huge ocean and if you do not you cannot progress or you will miss major parts of the story" and also "find that tiny item on a short clock with constant danger." i ended up using the wiki, and shortly after ended up reading the plot because that was more fun than playing the lategame
however, many good moments of "oh wow yikes that's a fuckoff big shark huh" which i DID enjoy
death's door not a bad time but not for me. i think i'd rather play tunic (i haven't played tunic)
F tier (i hate it)
deathloop THEY BIOSHOCK-POISONED THIS GAME SO BAD
the concept of a majora's-mask-plus-dishonored-problem-solving-shooter? quite good. this game? really sucks. this game is the sum of every boring-but-sells lesson internalized by marketing departments on the success of "the genius of environmental storytelling," but instead of genuinely funny bits (like left4dead2's graffiti!), they went for an utterly bland "THIS UTOPIA? DIDN'T WORK OUT HUH"
also the core mechanic just wasn't very fun, was it, it just didn't work. they made it a pretty good fps and also a ~nothing else~
the upside was the art direction which: was good enough to do environmental storytelling with! it makes me mad that some goooood art got wasted on this game
hon. mentions
madness in square garden, for having a good name watching someone else play outer wilds
