I'm finally back at working on my writer!Zelda/artist!Link story. I signed up for a finish your wip big bang, so that I don't have another excuse to put this off. And I sorted some of the issues out and wrote another chapter and a half. This is from chapter 10!
Link is the head of Zelda's guard in this fic and here he's talking about the head of the King's guard. Everyone confused now? 😆
Still, Link had tried to talk to him once when they were both stuck on an event with dead time on their hands, but the guy had the personality of an early 2020s chat bot.
I'm not going to tag 30+ people because that's probably all my mutuals. 😂 Hah! If we're mutuals, you're tagged. There we go.

Nintendo restocked Amiibos, so I was finally able to order Wolf Link (and Sheik) at a reasonable price (15€). 🙏🏼
I looked around a bit which other I should get but Wolf Link seems to be the one with the best benefits, anyway? You get an additional challenge/dungeon in TP and a companion in botw? Vs a costume or random items for the others?

Food post! I make fun cakes for my kids’ birthdays and this year had, not surprisingly, a BotW cake request!
First off, I am in absolutely no way a professional. I do this for fun, twice a year (sometimes more if a friend wants one) for my kids.
This is made with buttercream frosting with vegetable and flower-based dyes (one of my kids can’t have artificial). The deku tree is a Rice Krispie treat covered in modeling chocolate, the sword pedestal is a Rice Krispie treat covered in fondant. Koroks, silent princess, sword, and silhouettes are all fondant. Cake is totally made from a boxed mix because the decorating already takes a whole day and I will happily save time where I can.
Really proud of this one! Less proud of the pictures. Despite actually being a professional photographer I am NOT a food photographer so these are some cell phone shots with a sheet as a backdrop. 😅

We had a frog hoodie art collab in Zelink Discord server where we choose which Links should wear it - so I went with SS Link!
I also bought the same green hoodie (minus the embroidered text) and it’s actually cozy and comfy to wear - plus the hoodie zipper is way better than eye masks especially if you’re on a road trip 🥰

Chapter Four - A Spirit Tracks Link is available on AO3
Excerpt:
As they move deeper into the forest, the buzzing turns into an insistent hum. Link would think the air would be teeming with flies, but not even a gnat is hovering near them. Shaking his head, he tugs on his ears. “Does anyone else hear that?”
“Hear what, boss?” Groose lifts the lantern higher, revealing a tall wrought iron fence. Lanterns on each side of the gates flare to life as Gustaf approaches.
Nobody can hear the humming? Now that he’s standing in front of the graveyard, Link swears it’s actually a woman’s voice, and she’s calling to him with a poignant song. This place is haunted, for sure, or it’s a siren. Sirens lured unsuspecting sailors to their deaths with their heavenly voices. Link couldn’t say this voice was precisely beautiful, and of course, he isn’t on a ship, so could the same be applied here? It’s not like he’ll be smashed against a rock… He’s never encountered a siren before, so he’s nothing to compare. Ghost, then. Has to be a ghost. Especially with the eerie, very inhuman way it sounds.
One, purest of hearts
Come to me before the battle starts
Link sees a large mausoleum in the center of the graveyard, and beyond it, a broken path snakes up a hill leading to a temple. She’s in there, in the chapel; he can sense it. Her voice floats down the hill from the crumbling facade of the building.
You, who’ve heard my call
Claim me for your own before we fall
He steps backward, hesitating to enter as a shiver runs down his spine. The temptation to follow the pull of the song to its source is nearly overwhelming. Maybe this isn’t such a good idea after all.

I recommend everyone who struggles with this the emotion thesaurus! It's a whole book similar to the charts above but more detailed and differs between internal and external expressions and signs when the emotion is suppressed etc. It's really helpful, no matter if you aren't sure how to write an emotion at all or if you just need a different body language because you're tired of your characters blushing all the time.

I feel the autistic writer vs “show not tell” thing so much. There are these helpful charts I’ve had saved to my phone since forever that I find are good starting points, though other options exist outside of these too. Hope these can be of some help to you as well!
