Fun question to all my farming sim lovers out there: if the opportunity should arise that a small team and I (by that I meam my engineer brother and me) were to make one, what do you think of this concept?
Your regular old farming sim, the beloved mini games (except fishing. Fuck fishing), romance options, developing the land, etc etc. BUT! Creepier. Yes, you must save the town! But not from a Corp. Or simple odds, such as your usual game, but from something far more nefarious.
A monster? A killer? Or something far more surprising? Who knows! We're just spitballing the story right now and wanted to see if it was even worth the effort/something that would be in demand.

Slice of life stories
I am here on this Sunday morning to ask you about what you think about slice of life! I made a thread on the CoG forum too so if you have thoughts please feel free to post there or here, whichever suits you!
I’m curious about what makes a game slice of life rather than nudging it into another genre such as romance? And what makes a slice of life game successful for you? What elements make something feel slice-of-life to you, and do you like those elements in games of other genres? (I’ve seen people talk about slice of life aspects in Crème de la Crème and Royal Affairs - what does that mean to you? Lingering on everyday routines, getting to know characters, workplaces, low-stakes interactions and events?)
I have the impression that slice of life plots are usually low-action, but may (or may not) have high emotional stakes for the main characters. But I don’t have a strong sense of much more than that. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts, whether you’re someone who’s played slice of life games or writes them!

Just a quick post to appreciate a wlw text-based historical dating sim game, Such, such were the Joys.
It's a sweet, ~1h long haze that will make you nostalgic for being a mid-century British boarding school student, despite never (most likely?) having been a mid-century British boarding school student. The fact that all the female characters bond over their Indian heritage adds richness to the whole story, showing classic boarding school tropes from a less well-explored perspective.
What I loved about the game is that so many of its scenes are really romantic while also managing to celebrate female friendships at the same time. A kiss and a conversation between friends can sometimes be just one choice apart, which fits with the segregated boarding school context very well. While each playthrough only allows to romance one of the characters, you don't necessarily feel like you're "rejecting" the other two. The bonding that occurs between the main character and the other girls feels interesting and meaningful whether or not it ends with The Kiss.
(In fact, spoiler alert, one of the characters is not particularly interested in The Kiss at all.)
So yeah, I definitely recommend this game if you have an hour and you want to make your heart ache in the best way. And if you played it, it would be awesome to hear which character/romance you liked the most!

My life has been taken over by Tears of the Kingdom. SOMETIMES I encounter something much higher level than my character in a game that can kill me in one hit and I will get a personal vendetta and spend hours trying to defeat it. It's absolutely infuriating and I don't know why I do it, but the win feels great HAHA. But then if the reward for that boss is like... some arrows. The fury is unmeasurable hahaha

"Countdown" is a slice-of-life inspired by "Gilmore Girls," and is rated 18+.
Three months ago, life took a sharp turn. Your mother found herself entangled in a situation so bad, she couldn't dig her way out of it, like usual. This time, the hole was way too deep. She needed help, and the only people capable of aiding her were the same ones she had vowed never to allow back into her life, let alone introduce to you and your younger sibling.
Who were they?
Your grandparents—a powerful and well-established duo.
In short, they did manage to help your mother back on her feet, but not without strings attached—never without strings.
Now, you're facing a senior year in a private school, fully funded by none other than grandma and grandpa, dearest. The only task at hand: do what your mother couldn't—graduate.
Form relationships, pursue your passions, burn bridges etc.,—the decision is entirely up to you.

🍁 Choose 1 out of 3 part-time jobs (p.s. 'if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen' and pursue another in your new school!)

Casey Decker (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
Your friendship goes way back to the nappy days. With both of your mothers on the younger end of the spectrum, it’s no surprise you grew to be close too—'best friends' type of close.
Casey is a ray of sunshine, full of life, and quite possibly the jelly to your peanut butter. They’re sweet like that—they can be, at least. But best friends should be just that: best friends. Besides, as of recently, Casey is taken.
Appearance: Medium-length, straight, golden blond hair covers the nape of their neck. They have slightly tanned skin, a sprinkle of freckles across their nose and cheeks, and grey eyes.
Lake Aydin (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
Lake has just started working at the grocery store nearby your house. High-school dropout, you assume. They don’t talk much…to you. Kind of a mystery, that one. Their social media confirms just that—there's not much to go by.
Also, your first meeting wasn't the greatest or smoothest. But one thing's for sure: you'll be around there a lot, so you might as well get talking in the meantime, right?
Appearance: Dark brown eyes, pale skin, and short, straight black hair for m!L. For f!L, it's medium-length black hair. They wear glasses whenever they remember.
Harry/Hallie Johnson (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
H doesn't actually go to your school, but events are often organised as a collaboration between a handful of private schools, both of yours included. So yeah, you might see them around.
H is good at all of that—the networking, the galas, the fundraising, and public speaking part. They know what they want, and they have a resume to show for it. H is CC—charismatic and confident. They're who parents wish their kids would bring home, so needless to say, they've got your grandparents' stamp of approval.
Appearance: Deep brown skin, short tightly curled black hair for m!H, and a little longer than shoulder-length, tightly curled black hair for f!H. They have light brown eyes.
Santiago/Samara Garcia (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
S is an academic with tunnel vision for success. They're consistently at the top of the class, leading the ranks, and on a mission to become valedictorian.
What sets S apart from the majority, you might ask? They're one of the only two people who got into the private school solely based on merit. No mommy's or daddy's money, none of that. It's all about brains and drive.
And what about you? Are you a high achiever? If yes, expect a somewhat healthy rivalry. Heads up, though—S doesn't fail. If no, they'll look down on you, and they won't make any effort to hide that. It's a double-edged sword.
Appearance: They have wavy brunette, borderline black, nearly shoulder-length hair, tan skin, and hazel eyes. They also have three beauty marks: one above their left eyebrow, one right below the left corner of their lip, and one on the tip of their nose.
Riven/Raven Rodrigo (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
R is destined to be a superstar. Three years ago, R and 3 of their friends formed a band called 'Crimson Haze,' and it seems like all their hard work has finally paid off this summer. They've had a couple of gigs overseas, and they've done really well. They're on their way to major stardom, but first, they need to figure out a few things. Something's missing—perhaps a fifth and final member?
R is a passionate musician, a reckless friend, and a nonchalant lover. Music is their life. However, their love life is...unsteady. They don't do distractions, aka relationships; only fun.
Appearance: They have dyed jet-black hair, short messy waves for m!R, and long messy waves for f!R. They also have amber eyes and olive skin.
Nolan/Naya Brown (m/f) 🍁 [profile page]
N is the star athlete and the school's pride and joy. They have a lot of eyes on them, watching and expecting big things to come. On the court, they're a beast, but in class? Not so much. Their grades are below average, and if they want to keep competing for that full-ride scholarship, they need to bring their grades all the way up.
N is a typical cool and popular kid—playful, funny, and well-liked around the school. Whether they remember it or not, you share a history. You used to know N. FYI, they've been in a committed relationship for the past two and a half years.
Appearance: They have light brown skin in the winter and medium-brown skin in the summer. Their hair is dark brown, with short and loosely curled hair for m!N, and long and loosely curled dark hair for f!N.

There’s no easy road to becoming an athlete. You of all people will know that. Now you’ve finally got your chance. From playing football in a muddy park during a rainy afternoon to signing the professional contract you’ve been dreaming of — the road to stardom is here. You can imagine it all now: being an athlete that jets across the world, having fans that wear your name on the back of their shirts; gaining sponsors and money, and… fame.
You’ve put pen to paper in London and now the ink has dried. It's official. You are an Inter City FC player. You’re starting your career as a professional footballer with a club that has objectives of their own. Winning the league. To the new club you’ve signed for, you’re the missing puzzle piece to their success.
But, the beautiful game is more than just a mere ball at your feet. It’s more than just your manager and teammates. It’s the media, the opposition, the rivals and everything in between.
There isn’t anything you want more than this. To make a name for yourself on and off the pitch. To press your lips to the shiny trophies you’ve worked so hard for. To hear fans chanting your name in the crowd. To have a club that feels like a family.
Nothing can get in the way, that’s been your motto since you first started playing. Surely the beautiful game won’t ruin you when you’ve given so much to it.
You just wonder whether it’ll be worthwhile.
Let the match commence…
This is an 18+ game due to explicit language, sexual themes, mention of sexual themes, mental health issues and more.
Customise and play as a male, female or non-binary; straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, graysexual, demisexual, asexual, footballer w/ the choice of your own pronouns.
Choose your footballer’s position: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, or striker.
Pick your footballer’s public persona. Will the media adore you? Or will you keep them on their toes? Will they love or loathe you?
Did you make it due to hard-work or sheer talent?
Manager your social media presence.
Decide your footballer’s playing style and strengths: a player with flair? Or a no nonsense baller with physicality?
Play as a person of colour (this choice can have an effect on the story). Your gender can also have an effect in game.
Travel the world with your football club that will become a family.
Romance any of the five romantic options; four of which are gender-selectable; male, female and non-binary. The ROs are: the rival, the teammate, the best friend, the idol and the heir — these romances will get the rumours starting…
Develop meaningful friendships, relationship… or even hook-ups.
Take the sporting world by storm. Do you play football for the fame? Or for your love of the game?
THE RIVAL
It didn’t start off as a rivalry. But you and Nikita/Navarro/Nevada Tallon weren’t the best of friends either. The two of you started at the same football academy, and whilst you were signed for an extra year, they were rejected. That was their first loss. For a while, they lost their dream. Forever: they lost you. Now it’s different. They’re all grown up and they’ve found a football team to call their own — A.C. United — the football team that happens to be the rival to yours. Football is full of history, it’s full of emotion too — and you and N have plenty of that to give, both on and off the pitch. Their one goal is to win. The two of you are, once again, fighting for the same crown. To be the best footballer in the city. Maybe even the world.
Maybe things will be different this time around between you two. The stone-cold glares and the snide remarks could dissolve into something else. Into something real and something beyond hatred.
THE TEAMMATE
You’re the newcomer. You’re waltzing into a team that’s somewhat established already, so having a teammate like Léa/Lando/Lakelyn Santos (their gender matches your mc's) to ease you in is always welcome. They’re the captain of Inter City and they’re a bit of a media darling. Graceful on the pitch, and even more graceful to the press. They’re confident, assured, calm and collected. But, beneath all that lies something else. It’s been a while since someone’s seen the real them. They were burned in the past, all because of a well documented break-up that took a lot out of them. Since then, L has been sworn off of falling for another athlete again, and they're keeping everyone at an arm's length. Beyond football, it’s not easy to get close to them.
But if you did, what a powerful couple that would grace the footballing world.
THE BEST FRIEND
You know how hard it is to be an athlete. Milan St. Clair knows it too. Since becoming best friends in your late teens, you know you’ve both had the same goal. Whilst they are trying to conquer the tennis world and you’re making it in football, they’re the one constant that remains. The one who is familiar and comforting. Maybe the two of you could’ve been something more, or maybe your passionate personalities for your sports just got in the way. Milan’s rising through the tennis ranks now, they’re becoming more known. Their game continues to improve more than anyone ever expected. They have Grand Slams in their sights.
But you are right in front of them. You could both cross that line, take that next step and become more than friends…
THE IDOL
Cypress de Vera, known for their precise and thunderous tackles — Cypress is footballing royalty. Their potential was high, their talent was even higher — they’ve set records for the ages. But, their career came to an abrupt end after tragedy. Despite all that, football is still their life, they live and breathe the sport. They are always going to be idolised. You idolise them and so does the press. The media still want to know what the great Cy de Vera is going to do next — and now they’re at Inter City. Back at the club that gave them everything, to steer them to success, only this time it won’t be as a player.
Stern and hard to impress, Cypress de Vera only has a championship title on their mind. But sometimes you need to lose focus, let your guards down and just feel something more than a ball on the tip of your toes.
THE HEIR
Estelle/Evren/Everest Acevedo. They’ve been involved in football all their life, but not in the same way you have. Their father is your new manager. E has riches, fame, and a powerful last name — but take it from them, it’s not all its cracked up to be. They’re in a world that’s entirely their own, they model, sing and now their passion has shifted to wanting to write a bestselling novel. Their life has been a whirlwind, and honestly, if the world came with an off switch they’d hit it immediately. But they like to have their fun: their sharp tongue, constant media presence, and attraction to chaos means they ignore their father’s footballing legacy and will continue to make a name for themselves. E has been branded as trouble and it's a current name they quite like.
There’s more to E than meets the eye, and they’re desperate for someone to see it. Give them a chance, peel back the confident persona. You’ll be pleasantly surprised…

Synopsis
Your glasses are missing, and it reeks of a cruel prank to your dependence on them. You have your suspects. Now it’s only a matter of time before you unmask them. Will you find your glasses, and see what’s hidden in their heart?
Characters
Jaime (gender-selectable)
The big shot on campus, Jaime is beloved by everyone. That being said, there’s something about them that doesn’t quite add up. Will you be able to tear down their mask, and see them as the thief they are?
Minh (gender-selectable)
The center of entertainment, Minh is the one who draws in laughter and fun. Trouble is their middle name, and you can’t help but feel like another target for their mischief. Will you reclaim your glasses, and show them that not every joke is funny?

The mysterious outcast. Like seriously, you can never tell what is going on in their mind. It’s as if they live in another world. Will you break through their wall, and finally get to see what’s behind it?

"A young 8 year old boy, full of imagination, has met a new friend at his school. Since the start of the 3rd grade has been struggling at school with paying attention in class and having to deal with bullies that's trying to ruin his high imagination, his fixations and his sociability with others that has similar interests to him. He made a wish one night, a simple wish of having a friend that could help him through out this new year of school. The next day, a new transfer student arrived. A fun-loving, wooden doll that goes by the name of Geno.
As someone who's imaginative, knowing what's true and fake, he couldn't believe his eyes that an actual talking wooden doll is the new kid. Funnily enough, everyone else in that school just didn't question it. In fact, some either didn't care that much or just simply found him cool and interesting (even loving his dress sense). To the young boy however, he felt joy.
The two, obviously, got along well when they finally met in class, sitting next to each other. Geno mentions to the boy about The Star Road and how wishes comes true. The Star Road heard the wish of the boy wanting a friend and Geno, who previously heard stories of the boy's imagination from his other fellow stars, volunteered to take the form of the wooden doll once again, now dressed more casually and modern, wearing comfy clothes of a blue cap, yellow shirt, a starry blue overall dress, socks and trainers (that he really adores).
During recess, the boy and Geno played a game of Tag, where you chase one person and try to tag them so that they are it. Geno is the chaser while the boy is trying to not be tagged. With his imagination, he imagined himself flying, showing tiny little wings by the sides of his shoulders. As they both ran, happily and confidently respectively, Geno's sparkles showed from behind, speeding up.
The boy is very happy to have his new friend Geno by his side and is excited to spend more days with him throughout the rest of the year!"

IFs (especially IFs on tumblr!) are very fun because there's a lot of creator-fan interaction possible because of tumblr's ask function. you get to ask questions about your favorites, suggest ideas and sometimes those ideas are even taken on board. fans get much more content because the writers and creators are so accessible. and i feel like asking questions and leaving comments in this way has become so common and standard with IFs that people are forgetting that's a real person writing these stories. just because you can send the ask doesn't mean you should.
