watched ep 3 & 4 of the pjo show. here are random thoughts:

ep 3

ive said before that ive put off watching the pjo show after episode 2 because the pacing seemed like a rush of getting from story checkpoint to story checkpoint and it never sat in one place long enough to actually grip me. episode 3 started off like that too, before the trio went on the quest. i only started to really like it when they were on the bus together and more of their dynamic was shining. theyre so funny bru.

i like all the acting but leah jeffries and aryan simhadri are CARRYING SO HARD. its like they took annabeth exactly how i imagined her out of my head and plopped her on screen and im so shocked at the accuracy??? her attitude and side eyes and sass is perf. and simhadri’s grover is insane because (dont come for me) i actually like the show version of him better than i did in the book 😭 perhaps reading him was rocky and i interpreted him wrong but seeing him on screen makes me SO attached to him. like in the books he always seemed like a sort of third wheel and annabeth and percy were outshining him so much but he’s actually slaying the show. i love him lots.

i like the dichotomy between percy and annabeth. their dynamic is already so juicy, especially with how they view both their godly and mortal parents. you can see some of their fatal flaws already shining through UGH i love them

i like medusa WAY more in the show. she seems so menacing yet classy and much more multifaceted. my only complaint was that she died way too quickly. there was so much build up in tension only for her to get one-tapped and it was honestly disappointing.

dialogue was great in this episode, btw.

ep 4

dream sequence went so hard -> “just breathe mummy ☺️ you’ll always be here 😁” *cuts to percy alone on a desolate plane where she is, in fact, not here*

sighhh sometimes i forget these kids are just twelve and theyre literal BABIES and percy just misses his mum 🙁

annabeth exposition time. a comment on all the exposition— there’s always something each episode but i think the show is doing a well enough job of not dumping everything in a way thats spoon-feedy to audience or in a way that makes viewers feel overwhelmed. theyre breaking information up nicely (imo).

echidna is slaying so hard. sorry but the villains are actually eating the whole dish up. mwah no balls.

its giving “im not a monster, im a mother” 🔥

fight scene annoyed me again but at least the mother of all monsters wasn’t ONE TAPPED. but i was annoyed because the monster was not thrashing him around as much as it had the opportunity to and it was giving plot armour im so sorry. might be cause of budget or target audience/rating though idk. the commentary of the show seems more mature however.

anyways yurr those are my observations. i like these last two eps more than the first two so maybe i should let this series cook.

Duh. He's like, the Main Guy and the reason why most of us are here. He's weird!! He's lame!! He's smart and annoying about it!! Just like me fr 🔥🔥🔥 hope he gets therapy soon and maybe some meds

2. Hobie Brown

Lives up to his character description in every way possible. He IS an anarchist and he WAS in fact, "this cool the whole time". Bonus points for being the first guy to fuck off to his dimension the minute he did what he had to do (help the youth and ruin Miguel's day). Extra points for Gender

3. Pavitr Prabhakar

He just debuted and he's already got several iconic one-liners under his belt. Banger suit redesign and FAWK Marvel for that first costume ‼️ It's really the curly fringe that does it for me like EATTT

4. Margo Kess

Idgaf she's literally goated. Had she gotten more screen time slhe would've been number 3 tbh. She's here to slay and found a way to stay her ass at home while being part of an elite Spider Squad. Women in stem

5. Jessica Drew

"But she's on Miguel's side!" And wrdgaf 🤣 she beats bitches up not just with webs but with A MOTORCYCLE!! And she's one of the only Spideys not masked Jessica is literally here to clock in, do her job, and clock out. She's #real I can't take that away from her. Bonus points for Issa Rae

6. Spot

I know. Look, I KNOW. But this is quite literally one of the most genius and thematically-coherent supervillain reveals I have ever seen in a superhero movie. HE WAS THE BAGEL GUY I WAS SO GAGGED! I left the theater and had to stare at a wall like this is excellent usage of pre-existing comic book characters to further one of the movie's messages, which is to not underestimate people!

7. Gwen Stacy

DONT GET MAD AT ME FOR PUTTING HER BELOW SPOT I CAN EXPLAIN

Okay look, she's cool. She's a punk that does ballet and she is part of the Hailee Steinfeld Cool Girl Industrial Complex. But she hasn't done anything that blows my mind yet and she clearly wasn't taking Hobie's advice like girl sjdlslk. I also doc points for pissing me off so sorry to her. On god we gon get you a girlfriend and some therapy as well 🙏🏾

8. Miguel O'Hara

Ohh brother this guy STINKS‼️ But they went sooo crazy w his character design shout out to Kris Anka. Bonus points for Oscar Isaac but minus points again for throwing a trash can at a high schooler. He only eats cafeteria food and has NO BITCHES! But upon reading about his character backstory ive decided that this guy is so unhinged and pathetic that it is now comical. Therefore I can't hate him. LEWSER

9. Peter B Parker

Sorry peepaw we're gonna have to put you down. At least Miguel can say that he has strong principles and believes in his own flimsy theory out of trauma. Miguel also doesn't really know Miles, , but Peter MENTORED HIM. Bro literally helped train living, breathing proof that anything was possible and that there was no "right" way for Spider-Man's story to go and he still let Miguel convince him otherwise. YOU HAVE A BABY THAT WOULD NOT EXIST WITHOUT MILES! Sir you may be a genius but you are not smart. Then he has the nerve to insult this kid's intelligence multiple times like don't piss me off. The betrayal puts him lower than Miguel because you've disappointed me peepaw 💔 and put a coat on that baby. I love him but he SUCKS

helloo can i have platonic headcanons for the hashira reacting to a new hashira who is half demon. They have a blood demon art and can walk in the sun but has very sharp teeth and horns. Also they dont eat humans instead they eat demons for power kinda like genya.

definitely had her doubt initially about a half demon joining their ranks but Oyakata explained to them their condition

Initially would often give them side glances of disgust though she hid them well with friendly smiles

That was until one day she was saved by them

Though Y/n did suffer a major injury, she watched them recover quickly as if it was nothing because they consumed the demon they slayed before it disintegrated

Shinobu was definitely interested in studying them and surprisingly they were alright with it in exchange for a cup of tea and a fun conversation

She definitely thought they were an interesting person when studying their blood samples and their personality TT

Sometimes she’d tease them for their sharp teeth, “My my someone’s drifted out from the sea” and sometimes would call them her own shark and that they should have been the shark pillar instead

But hey it’s all in good fun, they got to tease her for her height and for being a nerd lol

Shinobu ended up enjoying their pleasant company, especially when they would gossip together

Their duo name ended up being ‘The Council’ because they were often seen snickering together

mans definitely had the intention to kill them on sight — flamboyantly of course

But then he heard they were the Demon Pillar

He would eye them rather suspiciously especially when they got close

Uzui wouldn’t admit it out loud in the early stages of friendship, but he thought the appearance of their blood art was rather flamboyant and almost god like

Would take a lot to convince him that they weren’t going to harm any human, what it took was saving one of his wives from a demon

Now he treats them like a younger sibling and though he encourages for them to call him ‘aniki’ or a god all he gets is a raspberry and a smug smile when his wives scold him for bullying them

But hey besties for life and free hugs from his wives TwT — Y/n gets 4 besties basically

Would also be really hesitant to accept them even though they had Ubayashiki’s approval and everything

Whenever they would be sent on to missions together, he would be surprisingly quiet and more observant

He would admire their level headedness and how quickly they were able to analyze the situation and come up with a plan

Kyojuro would definitely be impressed by their fighting skills and how impactful their blood art was

Friendship would initially start with him saying he disliked them for being a half demon but they would grow on him, especially with the small smiles they’d throw in his direction that radiated humanity

He appreciated when they would offer him some of their snacks and when they would be on the look out for him

His apology for saying he disliked them was rather sweet because of the light blush on his cheeks

“Don’t worry, I understand where you’re coming from. I’m glad that you think of me as a friend now,” they would say happily

Now they are pranksters together and often are the loudest ones though they do it to match his energy

definitely thought they were a little scary at first because of the horns and sharp teeth — but then she realized how beautiful they were TT probably would secretly fangirl

Mitsuri at first was really cautious of them because of Obanai’s own objections but she wanted to get to know them

She ended up getting close to them because of their shared love of food — though they often consumed demons more than human food

Mitsuri would cook all sorts of things for Y/n for the sake of finding what tasted best for them and to no surprise it was her Sakura Mochi TT

She was constantly impressed by their breathing style and the blood art they possessed when they consumed demons

She thought the change in their eye color was amazing and how brave they were when they would dive into battle with their blood art TT

Definitely would become closer friends as they shared tips with each other on flexibility and whenever she would style their hair

Mitsuri would love spending as much time with them as possible, especially sharing meals with each other and recipes
