Man I love Zargonians. They’re a line of die-cut heavy stock cardboard standees from Bearhug Enterprises. They launched a big line — 34 SKUs — in 1980 and then effectively disappeared from tabletop history. I learned about them a couple years ago because they were listed in a weird one-time tabletop distro catalog I have and when I went looking for them, I discovered Noble Knight had a mountain of sealed dead stock. Hooray!

This is Dragon Set A. Unlike the other sets, which have three duplicate sheets, this contains six unique standees in the line’s largest size. These are the Diamond, Red, Silver, Blue, Black and Copper Dragons (I think; I stupidly opened both Dragon sets and its hard to tell the metallic dragons apart now that they are mixed). I love the art, by James Mirick. It’s pretty crude, but has that old school amateur appeal that I still find so delicious. I like the fact that these don’t look anything like established D&D dragons, but that despite the simplicity of the design, they all have similar physiological characteristics that implies they are all related species. Good stuff.

Spawn of Rovagug, Xotani

PF1e skipped it completely, maybe because it appeared in literally the last D&D 3.5 adventure Paizo published. I did run Legacy of Fire, and loved it. Personally, I made a few tweaks. Even if Jhavhul had succeeded, his consciousness was just going to be overwritten by Xotani; you don’t compromise with a Spawn of Rovagug. The sponsor asked me to adjust its CR up by 1, which was really only a matter of deciding how many HD to give it. Besides that, and the lava bombs borrowed from PF2e, this is a pretty straightforward conversion.]

Spawn of Rovagug, Xotani CR 21 CE Magical Beast This creature is a living magma flow, a cross between a wingless dragon and a centipede. It is the size of a building, jagged obsidian plates rising from its back and sides, and gouts of flames shooting from cracks in its surface and drool from its maw. It has eight empty eye sockets, but still seems able to see just fine.

Xotani the Firebleeder is the weakest of the Spawn of Rovagug, but this still makes it one of the most deadly creatures in Garund. When Xotani is awake, it avoids the sun. It finds sunlight blindingly bright and surprisingly painful, and so remains underground by day, creating a network of tunnels from its own burrowing and from the lava that it spews and leaks. By night, it emerges, setting everything ablaze in its path. It has no desires or intentions other than pure destruction, although it will consume the ashes of what it destroys as a mockery of natural predation. It does take extra damage from the touch of cold, but cold damage enrages Xotani more than dissuades it.

Xotani is an unstoppable force in combat, moving like a lava flow over anything that stands in its path. Its very touch sets combustible objects ablaze, and weapons turned against it melt into slag. Xotani’s main strategies are either breathing a torrent of fire over clustered enemies, or grabbing and swallowing a single powerful foe. Wounds that open in Xotani’s flesh spew magma reflexively, and Xotani can fire lava bombs from its back. Xotani is barely sapient, but knows enough to avoid using its breath weapon against foes that are immune to fire: these it just eats after softening them up with claws and teeth.

The Firebleeder was “slain” by a powerful order of mages millennia ago, and is currently slumbering beneath Pale Mountain in Katapesh, where the color of the rock is said to come from the crushed bones of those who died in battle. However, Xotani came very close to being awakened in the recent past. The lovesick Jhavhul, an efreet general, attempted to possess Xotani in order to have a form worthy of the object of his obsession, Ymeri the Queen of the Inferno. Without the twisted wishcraft used by Jhavhul, Xotani will not awaken for centuries. But it does now stir in his slumber, and droughts, wildfires and heat waves are more common around the Obari Ocean because of it. And plenty of other doomsday cults, misguided fire worshipers or simply bad actors may be able to wake Xotani yet.

If a spawn of Rovagug is forced into an environment where it cannot breathe and would suffocate, it goes into hibernation until conditions are right for it to reawaken. Lava Bomb (Su) Once every 1d4 rounds, Xotani can create lava bombs as a standard action. Treat this as a supernatural version of the meteor swarm spell (ranged touch +22, Reflex DC 27) with a range of 400 feet. The save DC is Charisma based. Sunlight Blindness (Ex) Xotani’s light blindness is only activated by true sunlight. Supreme Regeneration (Ex) All spawn of Rovagug possess regeneration, and no form of attack can suppress this regeneration; they regenerate even if disintegrated or slain by a death effect. If a spawn of Rovagug fails a save against an effect that would kill it instantly, it rises from death 3 rounds later with 1 hit point if no further damage is dealt to its remains. It can be banished or otherwise transported as a means to save a region, but a method to kill Spawn of Rovagug has yet to be discovered. Unstoppable Force (Ex) A spawn of Rovagug can always charge, even if its movement is impeded or its path is blocked by another creature. It receives a +20 racial bonus on combat maneuver checks to overrun and Strength checks to break or destroy objects, and can make one such check as a free action as part of a charge. In addition, the natural weapons of a spawn of Rovagug ignore all forms of damage reduction and hardness.

Because why not lads. These are some of my personal ones regarding the lore I’ve put together for him. TW: untreated mental illness, childhood neglect, burn injuries, surgical trauma. Uh, some other shit, too, probably. Idfk reader beweader you’re in for a sceader.

Bro has BPD. It covers a lot of the beloved fanon interpretation of him being clingy and hot/cold and scared of being left. He’s got Fear Of Abandonment Syndrome, and he’s like 10% more likely to make a fucky wucky on himself and end up sleeping in the forever box.

H a t e s d o c t o r s. And hospitals, and surgical procedures, and anything of the like. He’s probably already got more health issues than a blue blood racehorse just from his sheer size alone - prone to heart issues and musculoskeletal strain - but there’s no way on god’s green earth that he hasn’t been through a handful of major procedures because he’s diagnosed with human knife block and bullet sponge disorders respectively.

Sub-point A: born with a cleft palette and lip. Palette was corrected, has a turned second incisor as a result. Lip was botched. Sub-point B: psychology might help OTHER people, but HE is built DIFFERENT. He’s not crazy, you see, and if you suggest otherwise you’ll suddenly develop a case of Backpfeifengesicht and he’ll provide the violence. DBT? That’s Dick and Ball Torture, babey.

Despite this, he lies through his teeth at psych evals. He knows the “right” answers, and he is not going to get his livelihood taken away from him, even if it’s not exactly what he wanted. If he’s answering for his own actions, he can swerve and intuit what thing will calm things down the most and get him the smallest punishment.

Developed most of his wheedling skills as a kid, parents were neglectful as shit. Mostly disregarded him during his upbringing. Youngest of three, an eldest sister and a brother. Not in contact with any of them.

He’s 34. I don’t know if I’ve accepted him being a Colonel into my heart as my lord and savior, I’m still figuring that one out until there’s more concrete canon material besides a loading screen.

Grew up in a hoarder house of apathy, alcoholism, and depression and it was DISGUSTING. Black mold, water damage, trash everywhere, travel lanes carved through the most useless fucking junk. His parents bred Doberman dogs to sell as guard/security dogs, and some lived in the house, adding to the filth and destruction. He can’t stand a dirty house, and as an adult has an insane cleaning routine. Often stress cleans. You could eat off his bathroom floors.

He Does Not Like Dogs. Period. He especially hates Dobermans. He doesn’t like dog breeders worth a fuck either, good or bad.

Did not have any sort of media or anything as a kid. Parents didn’t spend money on tech or pop culture stuff, they were kind of stuck 30 years behind everyone else. His parents were older when he was born, he was very unplanned and not particularly warmly welcomed. Kept himself entertained out in the boonies, did a lot of reading, learned to juggle, learned to juggle knives. Had a big brokedown half-draft horse to take the kennel dogs on longer walks in the country, horsebacked a lot.

Soon as he was in the army, away from his family home, and living on his own, he got his first cell phone and computer and pretty much started living on the internet. He’s self taught in a couple of programming languages, very tech literate, halfway kind of lives on Reddit (narrowly swerved getting redpilled, thank fuck) on his personal time, and built his own PC set up. Built one for Horangi, too, and gives Stiletto advice on her own build when she asks for it.

König was raised secular Jewish, really doesn’t know all that much about it and didn’t get a bris or bar mitzvah, it’s just like Yeah That’s What I Put On Papers to him. Klaus is always getting in his shit about Austria and WW2. König’s grandparents made it out of the camps and went on to become: a microbiologist, a professor at the Austrian University of Veterinary Medicine, a multi term mayor of a small village/candy maker, and a beloved homemaker. The brilliance of the family seemed to leech out with each passing generation, and König sees himself as the dead end of it all.

König has rocked Klaus’s shit about the shitty jokes before and will do it again.

Favorite rugby club is South Africa, and he has an intense crush on Faf de Klerk even though he’s been traded to Japan. He’s kind of hot for all scrum halves tho lbr here.

Baby girl is still tiny but her heart and spirit are strong at her frequent checkups. I am so grateful to feel her frequent movements in my womb. We are 34 weeks which means d-day might be in just 3 more weeks. The biggest hurdles will be when she is born, but I am glad she has made it this far! The current biggest concern is her size and the possibility of her esophogus and trachea being fused, which we will get an MRI to look more closely at soon. Thank you for your prayers and love.

So!! It's that time, folks! By the time this posts, the survey will have formally been closed. Thank you so, so much to the 65 participants. I never expected to get so many responses, and I owe the Warframe community big-time.

I am planning on eventually releasing platform-specific data as I compile it, alongside any other neat correlations I spot. I did this mostly for fun- the assignment's bar was low, but I took it pretty far because I enjoyed it- so I'm not a professional or anything at statistics! There will likely be inaccuracies, and I may occasionally miss data on accident.

The more players involved, the lower the percentage of people who typically played with that amount of squadmates, with 17%, 8%, and 5% rates for squads of two, three, and four respectively.

The most common MR among surveyed players was MR 18, Gold Eagle, followed by MR 20, Silver Tiger.

THIS is how invested I am in the Roleswap. I am not messing around here.

Extra thoughts on my creative process and other bonus material under the cut :D

So! My creative process has evolved a bit since I made this post five months ago!!

I have graduated from a used computational notebook to a handy disc-bound notebook!! I tell you, the disc-bound book is life-changing. I thought they were just for those bougie planners but they make plain notebooks with them too!! It was a little more expensive than a traditional notebook but it's been so incredibly worth it for me so far. I thought I'd share in case someone else has been looking for a system like this!

My habit of revising, adding, and deleting sections of the story isn't a problem anymore, because I can literally remove a portion of the notebook from the binding and stick it somewhere else! Or add more paper if a section I'm working on becomes longer than I intended. It's absolutely fantastic and keeps my chaos 1000x more organized. I can finally keep everything sorted by chapter without committing to a set number of pages! I can actually figure out where the story is going to go now, and actually organize my ideas for endgame chapters... and the endgame is going to be FUN. >:)

Here's a peek into my brain for previous updates: Chapter 1 Pages 26-29, and Chapter 1 Pages 34-42! I still love my sticky note thumbnails. And it's fun to compare how much the final pages change from my initial thoughts :P

Here's a sneak peek of Chapter 2 and some scrapped content! Fixing the pacing is the biggest cause of scrapping scenes.

So yeah!! This Roleswap is the biggest exercise in storytelling and art that I've ever taken on, and I'm so, so excited to keep working on it and sharing it! Perhaps this organizational approach is a little unconventional (I have personally not done this on a true professional level... yet) but it's working well for me as I continue to learn and evolve! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to share this.

Megalodon Facts!

Hi and thanks for your question! megalodon is pretty well known but here are some more obscure facts I found that will hopefully help!

Megalodon teeth were used by a variety of pre-contact cultures in North America. It is thought that they were valued artifacts and/or that they were modified to be used as weapons. Megladon teeth were mined from Chesapeake Bay and traded with other cultures nearby.

Megalodons used to be classified in the same genus as Great white sharks (Carcharodon) because of the similarities between their teeth. The current model is that Megalodon belongs to the Otodus genus and the similarities between its teeth and Great white sharks is a case of convergent evolution making them appear similar. They (megalodons and great white sharks) would still probably look somewhat similar based on how we have interpreted other ancient sharks and their similarity with modern lamnids such as great white sharks.

They were also widely distributed, with fossils being found all over the world. Based on where we have found megalodon teeth we can infer its tolerance of environmental temperatures is between 1-24 C (34-75 F). They where probably able to handle such cold temperatures because they were mesotherms. That is when an animal isn't quite an endotherm (able to create our own heat) but isn't an ectotherm (can't regulate their body temperature like most snakes for example). They had the ability to affect their body temperature via their metabolism but when the temperature in the environment is decreased their body temperature will also decrease. It is also thought that as body size increases in mesotherm animals there body temperature increases because of the square cube law. It is hypothesized that one of the reasons megalodon was so large.
