Omega!BNHA - dying from a broken heart

Anon: I don't know if you do, but some aus say that a person can't sruvive after their mate dies, like they die from a broken heart. Do you have that in yours, can you write who would be most likely to die mayeb please xx

Warnings: Copious grief, allusions to suicide and suicidal behaviour

1. Midoriya Izuku – ALIVE – He is heartbroken. He cries everyday for a solid month, relying on his friends and mother to look after him. Everyone is very patient with him but that just adds guilt to Midoriya’s already fragile mental state. In the end, he decides to make sure that whatever happened to his alpha doesn’t happen to anyone else, as much as he can. He will run fundraisers for medical research, or use his platform to raise awareness for something, whatever he feels he needs to do. He keeps something of his alpha’s on him at all time and he uses them to motivate him to save civilians, after all, that person is worth just as much to someone else as you were to him. I think that Midoriya would be likely to mate again, he’s got a lot of love to give and thrives in romantic relationships, but he will never forget the person who had such a big part in shaping who he is today.

2. Bakugou Katsuki – ALIVE – He is predictably angry at first, shouting profanities at anyone who tries to comfort him, but then he just feels lost. He takes it hard, as anyone would, pushing people away for months, and working himself down to the bone. But, at one point, he decides to dedicate his hero career to his alpha’s memory, and it makes him try harder than he’s ever tried. Soon, it becomes something positive for him, he looks after himself more and strives to better himself in healthy ways. He might mate again, although he feels doubtful that anyone could ever match him like his alpha could. If he did mate again, he would never forget his first alpha. He visits their grave on their birthday every year, and if any person courting him had a problem with that, he would drop them immediately.

3. Aizawa Shouta – ALIVE – He doesn’t stop to grieve for even a moment. He pushes on, denying himself a break, ignoring condolences, cutting off anyone who tries to inquire as to how he’s doing. He’s very harsh with any students who try to bring it up. And then his friends confront him. He’s exhausted (more so than normal) and he’s not eating so they make him sit down with them. Mic and Midnight know him better than anyone, and they easily push past his defences, and he cries until he passes out. They help him go through your stuff and get enough sleep. They cook for him and cover classes for him, so he has time to mourn. His life eventually goes back to normal, but I don’t think he would ever mate again. Once was enough for him.

4. Todoroki Shouto – ALIVE – He becomes bitter and jaded, but he does not die, he carries on in the way he always has. He takes almost no time off of work, completing his job as a hero with ruthless efficiency, following the required steps like a robot. Constantly working helps keep his mind off of the fact that his mate is no longer waiting for him to come home. Eventually, one of his friends, probably Midoriya, step up and get him a specialist therapist and help him pick out a new home so he’s not constantly reminded of his mate. He learns to cope in the end, but it takes him a very long time to mate again, if he ever does.

5. Tamaki Amajiki– ALIVE (just about) – He is completely distraught and destroyed in every way. His alpha was a part of him, and now they’re dead, he feels like he has this huge hole in his chest that can never be healed. Everything becomes too difficult for him, the only reason he gets out of bed if because it’s more painful to stay in the bed he shared with you. Mirio is the only reason Tamaki is still alive after his mate dies. He moves in with Mirio who looks after him 24/7 for almost six months, until Tamaki starts to do things for himself. It takes about a year for Tamaki to go back to work and I think it would be very hard for him to move on to another mate. Not only is he still cripplingly shy, but he also now has severe anxieties that the people he gets close to will die and is averse to making any new relationships.

6. Shinsou Hitoshi – DEAD/ALIVE – Shinsou is one of the most loyal people ever. If you manage to break down his walls, he gets very attached, his alpha being the best example of that. He was so attached to the future he was going to have with his alpha that now he doesn’t know what to do. He feels like everything has been taken away from him. His life was finally something he enjoyed and then this happens? His life really is one tragedy after another. He does give up wanting to be alive, but he could survive if someone intervened to help him. He would need someone to supervise him and help him cope with the death of his mate. If he doesn’t get that, he won’t survive for very long.

7. Shigaraki Tomura– DEAD (kind of) – Your death shatters what’s left of his mental health. It twists him and breaks him more and more for every night he lies awake in an empty bed. He does not die straight away. He takes his grief out on everyone else first. He kills random people in the streets sometimes, just to try and make himself feel anything other than despair. The final straw is when, in a fit of rage, he decays most of your things. When he realises what he’s done, when he realises that he’s destroyed the only ties he had left to you, the only things that still smelt like you, he gives up. There’s no point anymore. He spends the whole night drinking. He goes to sleep knowing he won’t wake up, and the smile on his face is the first genuine one he’s had since you died.

8. Dabi – DEAD (kind of) – He doesn’t die from a broken heart exactly. He dies because your death makes him reckless. Why should he care if he lives or dies anymore? There’s no one waiting for him. Not anymore. He gets angry when you die and takes it out on as many heroes as he can. He blames heroes for your death, no matter how involved they were. It’s their job to save people, and they couldn’t be bothered to save the one person in this world that actually means something to him. He either dies confronting a random hero, or he decides he wants to die and confronts Endeavour first. He has nothing to lose, so why not?

9. (Hawks) Keigo Takami – DEAD – He has this façade as a laidback, suave playboy. But at the end of the day, that’s all it is, a façade, an act. In reality, his life is the opposite of laidback. Everything is controlled by the commission. He eats what they say, wears what they say, buys what they say, says what he’s told to say. So, when he found you, it was like this glass bubble he’d been living in shattered. For the first time, you made him care. He cared about himself, his house, his health, but most importantly, you made him care about you, and about your future together. Nothing is as precious to him as you. So, when you die, all he sees is the prison coming back to catch him again. He sees nothing but misery in his future now. Lonely, miserable emptiness. You made him realise how unhappy he was, and then changed that for him. He won’t go back to the way it was. No way.

Dabi as a dad. That's it. That's the post.

It was late at night. Dabi wasn't sure what time it was, but he could only assume it was around two in the morning. He was unbelievably exhausted and worn out. So much work had to be done lately for the league and Shikaraki was running him ragged from all the orders and tasks he was assigned.

So much work had to be done, that he hadn't been able to sleep for the past day and a half. His body was starting to shut down, but he knew he had to keep on until the jobs were completed.

People in the league were the only ones that knew this secret Dabi had. He had a whole other life ever since three years ago. He had become a father. He never knew it would happen, he never even planned it. Honestly? He never really wanted to be a father, but ever since she was born, he was in love. A beautiful baby girl. Who would have ever thought? A son, maybe. But a girl? Whoa. That's a whole knew level.

Dabi and Y/N had been together for 2 years before the birth of their daughter. He really did love Y/N, but for some reason unknown to him, having a little girl made the love go even deeper. He never imagined he could love anyone, much less Y/N. His whole world was steadily changing around him, and he was doing all he could to cope with it.

The one thing hard about everything going on, was he had to be away from home. Away from his girls. Y/N knew he was in the league and everything that was going on in his life. She knew when they got together. She didn't mind it, really. Just as long as Dabi was safe. But she knew he would be. He was a really tough and tedious guy. He was constantly careful, no matter how big or how small the task.

But Dabi couldn't' help but stress about the girls at home by themselves. He had become so protective over them the past few years, and hated that they had to be alone most of the time. Nothing made him more relaxed than hearing their voices and laughs. It melted him, in a good way.

After walking down this street Dabi found himself on, he cut down an alley. Once he walked down it a few feet, he leaned his back against the cold, stone wall of a building, and slid down it until he collapsed on the ground. Automatically, his eyes started to feel heavy. He needed to rest so bad. Maybe just a few minutes wouldn't hurt. Leaning his head back against the wall, he slowly started to drift away into sleep.

Time had passed and he hadn't moved. It only felt like a few minutes, but apparently it was about an hour of him napping. He was awoken by a tune on his phone. Normally, he would have ignored it, but this particular tune was set to only Y/N's contact, so he quickly pulled it out of his pocket.

Before answering, he glanced at the time. Four in the morning. What was she doing up? Dabi's heart started to race. He couldn't help but think that something was wrong. He hastily answered.

"Hey, is everything okay?"

"...daddy?"

"Yes, baby? Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I had a bad dream."

Dabi hadn't noticed, but his muscles were tense. Once he heard the words 'bad dream', he softened. Everything was okay. He knew it was, because even though it's unfortunate, nightmares were almost a daily occurrence with his daughter. From the trauma of his childhood, Dabi had aquired nightmares and night terrors of his own. Unfortunetly, his daughter picked up that trait. On a positive note, he knew how to deal with them more than Y/N did, so whenever this happened, he was the one to go to. Thank goodness the kid hadn't had any actual night terrors. Yet. Just bad dreams.

Rubbing his eyes to get the sleep out of them, he tiredly smiled and spoke. "You had a bad dream, huh?"

"Yeah. It was about you this time."

Dabi's smile faded. Most of the girl's nightmares where just simple things that kids fear, but the ones about him and Y/N were becoming more and more frequent. It was becoming concerning, but he just had to shrug it off. For her. He was still knew to this whole father thing, but one thing he did know was that you shouldn't' show worry in front of a kid, or they will start to worry. So he did just that. He blew off the worry in his mind for now and just had to focus on the kid.

"About me, huh?"

"Yeah! You had died in it."

"Is that why you're calling? Where you scared?"

"A little."

Y/N shouted from the background. "Don't let her lie! She woke up crying."

Dabi scoffed and smiled. "My poor kiddo..." he thought.

"You? Scared? I thought you weren't scared of anything, just like your daddy."

"I wasn't scawed! I am just like you daddy! Big and strong!"

His heart melted in a mix of good and bad feelings. He hoped she would grow up strong willed like him, but...not how he truly was deep down. All the trauma, all the pent up anger, all the troubles he has caused.

"Be strong like me, but kind like your mother."

"Okay daddy. I will!"

"Okay, baby. Can you hand the phone to mommy, please? I love you. Go back to bed and don't be scared. I'll be home soon, okay?"

"Okay daddy! I wub you!"

Dabi smiled. "Love you too, kiddo. Good night."

"Night daddy."

Shuffling noises were heard on the other end of the line. A different voice came on.

"I'm sorry to bother you while your working, babe. She wanted to talk to you and wouldn't take no as an answer."

"It's alright, doll. I wasn't busy right now anyways."

"Are you doing okay? Staying safe?"

"Yes, of course. You know that."

After a few more minutes of talking, Y/N said her goodbyes. She had to put the girl to sleep now and try to get some rest herself. Dabi said his goodbyes in return, saying I love you, and hung up his phone. He stood up from his resting position, and gathered up the strength to continue his work.

"Alright, back at it I suppose."

He lazily walked out of the alley

and back around the corner. He was met by a familiar face.

His boss, Shigaraki. His silver hair was long, down to the base of his neck, and he was wearing his trademark coat. They all had been working so much lately, that they didn't have the time to take care of themselves. Shigaraki specifically. His scratch marks were getting worse from his scratching due to stress. His hair was getting to long, because he didn't have the time to take care of it. Dabi knew better than to say anything though. Shigaraki had been on edge lately, and probably wouldn't hesitate to take care of Dabi's attitude in his own way.

"What are you doing here, dusty?"

Shigaraki scratched his neck a little, looking up at Dabi. "I followed you to make sure you were doing your tasks. You were the last stop before going back to the base. I've already checked on everyone else."

"Save the best for last, huh?"

"Whatever, patchwork. I couldn't help but over hear your conversation."

Dabi looked at him with tired eyes. "Oh yeah?"

"Do you miss them?"

"Well, duh. Of course I do." He changed his tune to a sarcastic one. "But you have to have these missions done, right?" It might have been the exhaustion talking, but damnit Dabi just wanted to go home. He missed his bed. The way the house smelled like candles because Y/N had an obsession with them. The way his little girl would run to him when he would walk in the door. He missed cuddling both of them in bed, as his daughter would drift to sleep watching tv. He missed it so much, he couldn't put it into words. He wanted to go home more than anything right now. But work had to be done.

As Dabi was in thought, his face contorted into distraught and exhaustion, and Shigaraki noticed. Maybe it was something in the weather this early morning, but he actually got a kind bone in his body.

"Go home, Dabi."

Dabi looked at him in shock. "But I'm not done-"

"I'm not gonna tell you again. Go home. I can tell your getting exhausted, and I don't need you passing out on me. I need you at your full potential. So go home and rest. Take as much time as you need." Shigaraki started to walk away. "I know you'll be back when your done resting so I'm not worried."

“He should be in your shared room playing his games.” The warped man told you. You thanked him and slid off the stool. You walked to your shared room and knocked on the door. “Ugh, Go away Kurogiri! I want to finish this game in peace!” You heard your boyfriend call from the other side of the door. You sighed and opened the door and walked in. This aggravated the blue haired man and he turned to face you. This was one of the rare instances he didn’t keep the hand that he called “Father” on his face. He probably didn’t need it on since he needed to see the screen to play his games. He was tense until he saw you.

“It’s just you. What do you want?” He asked in a slightly annoyed tone as he died again in his game.

“I’m bored and everyone else is busy. I wanna spend time with you.” You said as you closed the door behind you and sat next to him.

“Fine. You can watch but stay quiet. I need to focus.” He spoke. You nodded and understood. You have watched Shigaraki play his games before and once or twice has he let you play with him. You soon got distracted and leaned against him. You wanted him to play with you. You were tempted to pull the plug on his tv but thought otherwise. You huffed and tried to get annoy him a lot. He cursed under his breath when he died again.

“Stop trying to distract me, Y/n. You know I want to focus on this game.” He spoke. He then looked at you and saw the look on your face that told him that you wanted his undivided attention. He sighed and restarted the level.

“Just let me finish this level and I swear I’ll go down on you until you cum three times.” He said as he began playing the level. Had such a fun night out! Went to round 1 with mike and our old manager who quit, he’s cool he’s around our age. I had a few drinks while there, some Cajun fries, and we bowled! Shinsou Hitoshi:

You being gone definitely has an impact on him.

But it’s kinda hard to tell because of how stoic he naturally is.

Anybody with the untrained eye would think that he is completely fine while you're gone, just waiting patiently for you to return.

But it’s actually the opposite.

He seems to be spacing out a bit more and he’s not as focused on his classwork or lectures.

He has more trouble sleeping than normal.

You could describe him almost like a lost puppy.

Waiting for you to return.

He didn’t want to bother you while on vacation... because it’s a vacation! But he sent a few text messages you’re way.

He was excited that you messaged him back.

As stated before, he didn’t want to bother you on your vacation, so he sent a only a few messages during your time away.

On the day you are supposed to return, he is right there waiting for you at the airport.

He’ll smile when he sees you and waits for you to be within range of him before pulling you into a quick hug.

He tells you how much he missed you before pulling away and giving your forehead a kiss.

He’s so happy you’re back

Shoto Todoroki:

Like with Shinsou, It’s not all that noticeable.

But there are a few signs.

He’ll isolate himself a bit more.

Quicker to excuse himself from social situations.

He’s doing this so he can distract himself with training.

He is just worried for you.

It’s not that he thinks you can’t handle a possible dangerous situation, it’s more of the fact that he can’t help get you out of it.

He got so worried about you the first night that he sent you a message asking “did you make it there ok?”

He’ll let out a sigh of relief when you respond. His mind is a bit more at ease now.

He’ll send you a message each day, sometimes it’s something cute, and others it’s asking how you’re doing.

He’ll keep conversing with you a bit before letting you do to enjoy your vacation.

If he calls, it’s at night

He’ll talk with you until you fall asleep and smile when he notices that you did.

He thinks it’s cute.

When it’s time for you to return, he’s there waiting for you

Will immediately walk up to you with a small smile and gently take your hand in his.

Then he’ll bring you’re hand up to his lips, giving your knuckles a gentle kiss.

“Welcome home”

Dabi:

Worried? Not in the slightest

He knows that you can handle yourself just fine.

It’s a mission so he’s not too worried.

Since all of the league go off and do missions.

However when he hasn’t seen you in a few hours, he begins to wonder why?

Did you get caught?

Did something happen to you?

This irritates him slightly, and the league can tell.

Nobody says anything to him for the rest of the day.

You’ve been gone for 3 days now and he actually started to worry a bit.

What if you never came back? If those damn heros actually got you.

He let out a sigh, keeping his cool appearance.

He was gonna go look for clues on your whereabouts when you just so casually walked into the league hideout.

He lets out an internal sigh of relief. You’re safe. You’re ok.

He casually walks up to you and asks how your mission went.

When you respond like the mission was no big deal, and easy peasy mission he just grumbles.

Why did it take you so long then?

He pushes that question aside and puts his hand atop your head.

A pat.

He’s glad you’re back.

Shigaraki Tomura:

He’s a bit worried.

But it’s a small mission so he trusts you a bit.

He just doesn’t want to lose you.

He kinda freaks out the he whole time you’re gone.

And by that I mean he claws at his neck more.

Mumbles to himself about you.

Telling himself that you’re fine and you can protect yourself.

These habits continue and grow the longer you’re gone.

He tries to busy himself with making a card house.

But it ends in vain.

He gets irritated, it shouldn’t be taking you this long. Something must have happened.

The league senses his irritation and Kurogiri tries to calm him down and assure him that you’re fine.

It doesn’t help in the slightest.

After one more day that you haven’t returned, he prepares to go out searching for you.

He was gonna destroy everything in his path that wouldn’t aid him in finding you.

Just as he left, he saw you approaching.

Instantly he calmed down and waited till you were close enough to touch.

His first question was if you were alright and when assured him you were, he sighed in relief.

He put his hand face up, encouraging you to do the same, and when you did, he took his middle finger and pointer finger and pressed them against your palm, a steady pressure and his way of showing affection without causing harm.

He’s is relived you made it back.
